    Probably one of favorite games of the year. For the first time in my life, a video game ACTUALLY made me cry... The ending really hit home for me. I honestly don't understand the controversy, this game is a God damn masterpiece.

    Great game, engaging story, beautiful graphics, environments and character animations. Shadowed by misleading prerelease trailers and angry users that felt "cheated" for an early moment of the story and thus they the a tantrum so big it exploded all over the internet.     Great game. Yes, someone may not agree with the story route but it's still a great game that makes you overthink this. As for gameplay, I extremely like it as I liked gameplay from the first TLoU. They just make it better and added new features.

    I think people were so caught up in "Revenge" that they missed all of these details.
    Plus i want to mention ellie isn't doing it purely for revenge but as a way to relive her PTSD. Ellie even mentions to Dina how she can't sleep or eat and she even had a panic attack on the farm. Every time she thinks of Joel, it's always his bloody beat up face. However, when she was drowning Abby, she finally saw a good image of him and was finally able to release all her grief. She had got what she came for and that was relief.    … Expand

    This is a good game, Yes, it may disappoint you, but try to get into this story, imagine yourself in Ellie's place, what would you do? The game I put 10/10, as it deserves it, if I could put a higher rating I would do it. The game is at least 12/10!

    Ignore bad reviews!!!! Play this game it is absolutely amazing!!! If you do you will realize all the bad reviews are written by babies who throw tantrums when mummy won't buy them chocolate from the store.

    Finaly the theatre scene , Abby is here , YES I WILL KILL HER. And they make you play her, I insulted naughty dogs and Neil Druckman " F*** you for making me play her, ooh i'm petting a dog you think i cant see you playing with my feelings , trying to make me feel sorry for her"

    You do see it coming, and yet it works you realize there's no hero or vilain , there's just survivors. The worst moment was when you have to kill Ellie as Abby , I did pause and put the controller down for a moment .

    They are genuises , they knew this game was gonna be controvertial but they released it this way anyway. Weither you appreciate the story or not , the graphics are stunning, the details are amazing, you are literally playing in a movie, they enhanced the gameplay which is similar to the 1 but better , and if you are a little open minded , this game is gonna make you feel feelings you ve never felt before while playing a game.

    Only downside in my opinion is the over-inclusion of LGBT characters, like i don't really care, but it just felt forced and out of place, like they did it to avoid being criticized by minorities , but it's whatever    … Expand

    Been a lot term naughty dog / uncharted franchise fan. This game takes it to the next level. Character development is amazing. Get immersed in the game, great characters and intense, varied shoot outs and stealth. Rewarded for exploration. Haven’t enjoyed a video game as much as this for over a decade. Would have paid twice as much if I had to. 11/10

    First things first. I´ve never owned an PS4. I played the first game on the ps3 back in 2013. I liked the game much and was really hyped when they teased Part II. With the release from Part II I bought an PS4 pro with this game and i    I´ve seen so much hate from the Community for this game and so much reviews. So I decided to create an Account and write my first ever Metacritic review :)
    First things first. I´ve never owned an PS4. I played the first game on the ps3 back in 2013. I liked the game much and was really hyped when they teased Part II. With the release from Part II I bought an PS4 pro with this game and i really don´t regret it.
    This game is nearly perfect. It´s really polished and looks fantastic. It run´s smooth ah on the pro. The changeover from PC back to console is preatty easy with this game.

    The Gameplay is preatty straight forward and in my opinion the stealth mechanic is rly fun and better than in the first game.
    The story is the Elephant in the room here. The decision from ND in this game with the death of Joel and the revenge story with Elly is in my opinion really good. It shows the futility to revenge violence with more violence. It touched my heart at some points tho. I played a lot of Games in my life. Take Billions of virtual lifes and never regret anything but here it was hard for me and I needed some breaks from the game. It demands a much from you, you can´t choose the path Ellie is going, it´s just like in a movie, you need to see ANYTHING.
    That the devs let you play Abby in the second half is good too. It shows you that the Fulfilment of revenge doesn´t change anything in her life. It shows you that Abby isn´t just an antagonist. Joel took everything from her so she took everything from Ellie. The revenge limbo is insane and I think it´s hard to describe this feeling of the game in an review.

    I recommend to anyone of you reading this to play this masterpiece to form your own opinion.

    My only critic at this game is that the part from Abby is partially too long. The Game could easily cut by 10 hours play time to maintain the tension of the playthrough.

    In the end I think the game just needs some time to get in the place where it belongs. Maybe in 10 years we all look back at this event.    … Expand

Some levels simply have to many enemy encounters without taking the time to take a breather. On the other side, graphics, audio-design, dialogue between the characters and the intertwining storytelling are the best I've ever seen in a video game. Even the gameplay improved in every way imaginable, Compare it to the first one, it's not even close how good this feels to play. Despite of what you think about this game and where it took the story, its never going to be a 0 out of 10. These reviews are so **** dumb it's causing me physical pain. It's ok to dislike the story developments, that's actually the exact feeling the first part of the game wants you to feel because Ellie feels the same way. But through everything that happened after that, you were supposed to question your motivation as well as your perspective. And while I'm looking at all these reviews, I'm beginning to question the emotional maturity of about 60.000 people on here.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is a technical behemoth. Intense gameplay and even better narrative were shrouded by the leaks and heavily biased reviewers that enabled a domino effect on the people. For fu*** sake buy this game, it is the PS4’s beautiful swan song.

    This game took a big risk and it paid off. The story is engaging and you feel so much for each character. There is so much detail in the storyline even the collectibles has its own mini story. Remember this is an apocalyptic world so expect a very dark storyline. This is by far the best game on PS4! This game is worth every penny. Game clocks in about 37hrs doing all collectibles.

Игроки, которые поставили оценку 0-2, видимо не поняли, что хотел сказать Нил Дракманн своей "пустой" концовкой. Элли была одержима гневом и злом после смерти Джоэла, и затем подумали, что игра лишь построена на мести. Но в момент убийства Мэл ( беременной женщины ), она поняла, что натворила, что не знала истории каждого убитого, невиновного человека.

    My only true issue with this game lies with its pacing, but upon playing it a second time it didn’t bother me at all because I wasn’t so anxious for the resolution. It truly has you on the edge of your seat the whole time, just dying to know what is going to happen next.

    To me, this game is scarier than its predecessor. It has more jump scares and has a darker energy overall. The graphics are unparalleled, and the level of detail that Naughty Dog put into this environment is incredible. So many small mechanics that no other video game has done before have been perfected in this game, it is shocking to me that it was on the PS4 and not the PS5 (and I do not have the pro, just the original launch version.) The acting, much like the first, is what really makes this game. All of the characters seem real and with their own strengths and weaknesses. Even the NPCs seem like real people and it makes Ellie’s journey even grittier. I could truly go on about this game forever. If you were a fan of the first game, you simply must play this one. There are dozens and dozens of easter eggs and innuendoes that reference the first installment. It pays homage to the first and then takes that story even further. 10/10.    … Expand

It is profoundly emotional and real within the story line, cinematic cuts, characters, graphics, details. Loved the dialogues a lot, they were so natural and specific. Not just boring talks, but very human-like, peculiar. Body movements and facial expressions are attentively built. Locations.

    My favourite characters are Dina and Ellie, partially bcs I am a gay woman myself and the depiction of their relationship was very tender and caring, not vulgar, as it can be often shown in media and massmarket content.
    The game is criticised for this kind of ending, but I believe this is one of the best one. It is not trivial. It doesn't have to be liked, nor to be agreed with. It is as it is. Revenge doesn't have to be finalized with a murder, but it's about the emotional release, that Ellie had experienced. Human nature is not linear and predictable.

    There is on open ending. We can come up with our version. I would choose the one where Ellie comes back to Dina and they hug firmly and live happily. That's it.

    To sum up - it is a masterpiece, a novel in a game form. Deeply sensual, irritating in the best ways, thoughts provoking, philosophical.

    Tecnicamente indiscutivel, trama proposta muito bem amarrada e contada, porém não gostei do rumo que a franquia tomou, ao finalizar o game, não sinto o gosto de quero mais, falando sobre a história, no caso. Mas é uma obra prima e vale a pena ser jogado, sem dúvidas.

    Что мне понравилось или не понравилось в игре ? Начнём с хорошего, мне понравилась геймплейная часть игры, также мне понравилось проработка сюжета. Пусть он и на любителя, но всё-таки многие игры уступают в своем повествование, нежели The Last of Us Part II . Так, что в ближайшие пару лет у этой игры будет мало конкурентов ! Так же очень важно, что игру надо проходить не спеша, исследовать каждый уголок и тогда она тебя больше затягивает. Локации стали намного больше и это не может порадовать. Общее прохождение игры заняло у меня около 40 часов !
    Что мне не понравилось, так это толерантность в игре. Да, многие говорят,что игра не об этом, а о мести, взаимоотношениях главных персонажей и о прощении. Так оно и есть, почти:) Если бы Элли сделали асексуальной или просто не разглашали её ориентацию и Эбби сделали не такой накаченной, то на сюжет это бы не так сильно повлияло, так мне кажется. Хоть нам и объясняется, почему Эбби стала такой, по мне если бы её заменили на накаченного мужика, то мало что изменилось) Геймплей с одной стороны хорош, но с другой в нём нет серьезных инноваций. Хотелось бы в следующей части увидеть больше нового, не только графическую чать игры:) Единственный персонаж к которому я не привязался, так это Дина. У меня к ней не было абсолютно никаких эмоций. Не знаю почему, но вот сложилось.
    Есть ли у меня желание вновь перепроходить игру ? Да, думаю еще пару раз я её перепройду:)
    Считаю ли я, что концовка была сплошным разочарованием ? Нет, концовка была безупречной. Именно она и раскрывает всю игру.
    Будет ли третья часть The Last of Us ? Тут ответ не однозначен, Naughty Dog сами решат. Может нам дают повод пофантазировать ? Элли может вернутся в Джексон и начать жизнь с чистого листа или просто стать изгоем ? А может повествование затронет Эбби, как она наконец-то добралась до Цикад и они начали строить новый мир ? Как говорится, время покажет ;)

    By far the most immersive 3rd person game I've ever played. Beautiful top notch graphics ,animations and gamplay mechanics. This game truly sets the bar on what should be expected from AAA games. Saying this game is only a 5.5 is ABSURD!!

    I've loved this game, it makes me feel a lot of things, it's a painful game. You can think about every single moment in this really work of art and find deep sadness, cruelty and suffering. It's absolutely worth to play, don't believe the negative rates.

    The gameplay is one of the best i have ever played, the graphics are awesome and realistic, the Soundtrack and the art are both incredible, the story is good but the ending is just frustrating, TLOU2 is an awesome game, just with a bad ending

    Unlike some of the user reviewers here, I actually played and finished the game, so here is my opinion on The Last of Us Part 2. The Story:

The Story:
    The Last of Us Part 2 continues the story of Joel and Ellie the two protagonists from the previous game, In the last game the story was focused on the relationship of Joel and Ellie, However in Part 2 the story moves away from their relationship and becomes a story centred around lost and revenge. The game also puts you in the perspective of a new character named Abby, who is one of many characters who was wronged by Joel, in the last game Joel made many Harsh or rash decisions in order to protect Ellie. Now a much older Joel and Ellie must bear the consequences of Joel’s past decisions.

    My only problem with the story is the pacing, I feel like some moments in the story could have been shortened and straight to the point, but this wasn’t really a big issue for me because most games that are longer than 15 hours usually have a pacing problem. Another thing the game does an amazing job at doing is it’s LGBTQ representation, it is very rare for video game characters to be LGBTQ and it is very rare for those characters to be well written. In the Last of Us Part 2 we are introduced to Dina, a bisexual woman who is in a relationship with Ellie. I myself is bisexual and was so happy to see a bisexual character and in a proper non-straight relationship, there is also a trans character who has an amazing backstory and great character development and no it’s not Abby. The Gameplay:
    The Last of us Part 2 takes the gameplay from the previous game and expands it in so many different ways. 1) Stealth, the stealth in this game is honestly it’s best feature because there is so many ways to be stealthy especially with the new prone option, and the stealth takedowns are so cool to watch plus with the new Ai it makes stealth really challenging but fun at the same time. 2) New weapons, the previous weapons from the last game do make a return but there are new and cooler weapons such as: Smgs, Crossbows, and a **** FLAMETHROWER!!! 3) Combat, the combat is way better than the first game, by adding a dodge button it made combat more swift and fun to play. 4) Infected, the Infected are still as vicious as before, but are now more sensible when it comes to sound especially the clickers, the stalkers got a big upgrade with the ability to dodge and counter your attacks, and the bloaters are still as scary as ever. But there are two new Infected; the Shamberlers who are bumpy infected that release a toxic cloud, and the Rat King who is monstrous infected aka big scary ugly boss. 5) The Levels, the game is broken up into different chapters and mostly takes place in Seattle, however the design of each level changes this makes it so that we do not get bored of being in Seattle we are just exploring a different area of Seattle. 6) Exploration, if you enjoyed the Uncharted series then you will enjoy the vast design of each level, The Last of Us Part 2 encourages exploration for each level which can lead to resources, collectibles, and even easter eggs. 7) Crafting, the crafting is basically the same, but you can now craft new stuff, such as silencers, Inferno shotgun shells, pipe bombs, and more. 8) Parkour, another uncharted element, was the addition of the jump button this brought in more diversity to the gameplay and was not overused. 9) Puzzles, the puzzles in the game has changed from pallets and ladders and instead into rope and power, the new puzzles involve using rope or cables to get to a new area, searching for power by trying to find an electrical source to power a generator, and trying to find or solve the code for safes which are full of resources, the puzzles are not overused and are mostly used for side exploration. 10) Skill Trees, the skill trees unlock perks which basically upgrade your abilities, crafting, and gameplay, you can unlock new skill trees by finding survival manuals which are usually rewarded for exploration or opening a safe. 11) Two playable characters, Ellie and Abby are the new playable characters, each has different skill trees, different weapons, different gameplay, different goals, and different perspectives. Ellie is more stealthy and have faster stealth takedowns, while Abby is stronger in combat her stealth takedowns are slower but she can craft a shiv in order to speed it up. Tech:
    The technical development for this game was amazing, The graphics are beautiful and well detailed to the point that you can see the pores on the character’s skin and the emotion on their faces, the lighting is well down and makes every level and scene perfect, the music is beautiful and matches every single scenario with themes of action, sadness, sorrow, pain, and peace. When playing I only had one bug but it was not game breaking or really noticeable. The Last of Us Part 2 was an amazing experience it is so far my Game of the Year. 10/10    … Expand

    Es un videojuego atípico. El hate proviene mayormente por el personaje de Abby, la supuesta villana del juego.
    Casi en la mitad del juego jugamos con ella, dándonos la perspectiva de la historia desde el punto de vista del "villano".
    Esto nos hace ver y escuchar su historia, haciéndonos entender que nadie es bueno.
    Lo que pasa, es que cuando las grandes empresas apuestan por algo nuevo, tod@s saltan a decir que es una falla argumental, que son imbéciles en Naughty Dog, etc.
    Jugabilidad increíble, y una historia audaz y hermosa.

    Simply the best game ever! I was not 100% sure if the ND could create Part 2 better then Part 1, but they did. The dialogs, battles, cutscenes, characters, etc. are just "no words". And I'm ready to wait for another 6-8 years for Part 3.

    This game stuns you with beautiful graphics and keeps you on edge with dynamic gameplay. Characters get interesting and realistic arcs which is so rare in fiction. Maybe the mood of the game over all is rather dark and the ending might not be a typical happy ending but it sure is a hopeful one!     Best game that I've ever played. Beautiful scenarios, the amount of detail is ridiculously good, and the story, even though it is debatable, was the best part of the game. I've never felt such a will to keep playing. What a masterpiece.

Naughty Dog has gone above and beyond what any modern game developer has ever done and is doing. The Last of Us 2 exceeds all expectations and even outperforms most movies today. There is so many minor details as well ass detail im general fact during my playthrough I'd often forget that I was playing a game. The fact that Naughty Dog put in all this effort into such a detailed, thrilling experience for just the usual price of $60 is overwhelmingly mind blowing.

    Ignore the negative reviews by all the entitled, toxic so called "fans". This game deserves 10s across the board, if not better and YOU NEED TO EXPERIENCE IT!    … Expand

    Any game that can make me care this much about its characters deserves high praise from me. There were parts of the story that had me actively screaming at the characters on my TV as if they could hear me. The ending especially had me crying like an absolute baby. Loved it, would recommend it to anyone.

    It took me nearly a week to play through the whole game since I wanted to make sure I saw everything and collected nearly everything. I really enjoyed this game, and the story it told even though I felt it perhaps could have been more successful if told in a different order.     One of the best games I've ever played. The gameplay may get tiring at times, but the story overcompensates for it. They managed to do a unique take on the revenge theme and bring something new to the gaming industry. Absolutely loved it.

    I thoroughly enjoyed TLOU part 2. The presentation, gameplay, and story were all top class. I truly hope the Devs are not put off by the butt hurt gang, who can't handle a storyline that challenges their sensibilities, and deliver a 3rd installment.

    This game doesn’t deserve the amount of review bombing that it gets from both sides, it’s not a 0/10 and it’s not a 10/10, the game is very entertaining and fun to play, it blends open world levels with more traditional levels very well, the graphics are beautiful and the world naughty dog built is also beautiful. Originally, I hated Abby and wanted nothing more than to get revenge. But as you progress, you come to realise she is very similar to Joel. You come to care about her, so that when you get to that bit in the cinema, your emotions are all over the place. The game was visually stunning, great audio track and good action sequences. But for me, the real experience was in the progression of the characters and the realisation that there are no good people in this post apocalyptic world. A remarkable achievement in a game. I'm astounded at the poor reviews on here. I think people are missing the whole point of the game, which is a real shame, because I think it's a masterpiece.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II is one of the most endearing and thoughtful games I ever experienced. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me feel terrible inside.

    1. Gamplay:

    The gameplay is a step up from the first game, stealth, weapons and looting feel more natural. The difficulty is nicely adjustable, I like to challenge myself, but also don't want a game to feel like a chore. In certain sections however I got frustated with the looting / crafting system, since I had everything fully stocked and couldn't pick up more which didn't satisfied my inner horder and also got me frustated when I actually DID use my ammo / crafted items and after such instances missing them for about three stages after. Moving in the game either by foot aka prone, crouched, upright or even sprinting, felt great and often times created exciting momentum when in combat situation.
    PLUS! The swimming / diving sections didn't make me want to scratch out my eyes or throw the controller away, so that's an improvement.

    The vehicle mechanic sometimes felt lackluster other times exponantially good. The boot section in Seatle Day 3 with Ellie felt tedious at times, the exploration on horseback Day 1 however incredible.

    2. Level Design:

    Overall the level design was well structured and the different set piece impressed me. Manueviring through Seatle either as Ellie or Abby never got boring, although from time to time I caught myself thinking: "OK, where's the hole in the upper wall I have to climb to progress this section?"

    The levels ranged from small, one way streets to open fields, full of potential gameplay / gameplay style options. I have to admit, at one point I even got lost on bigger stages and ran around aimlessly until I finally looked up or the game's assistent actually told me where to go.

    3. The game's look:

    The Last of Us Part II is gorgeous to look at. It definitely looks pretty at it's worst and stunning at it's best. From beautiful fields to gritty dungeon like buildings in Seatle. My only complain would be that I kind of got tired of Seatle's look after Day I Ellie until Abby's Day II. Everything was just masses bleak, gray buildings overgrown with green grass. However in terms of storytelling it does makes sense. I wish we could've played more different set piece than Seatle and then like 4 hours of Santa Barbara. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning parts in Jackson as Ellie and Dina on Patrol and also the farm around the end of the game in term of enviromental design and change of setting.

    And now onto the big, controversial point.

    4. The story:

    I loved it and I am still processing everything that happened even after weeks of finishing the game.
    Let me tell you, I knew that Joel was going to die and I accepted it. Truth be told, I was never a fan of Joel as a character per sé. I loved him in Part I not because of his personality alone but because of his interactions and his care for Ellie. Although, I have to admit, I loved Ellie from the her first appearance and in my opinion Ellie always had been the protagonist of the games since the start, Joel, even though I played as him in Part I, felt more like a side character next to Ellie. Her story, her experience in the TLOU universe was the point of view I cared about.

    And oh boy, Ellie's journey in Part II broke my heart over and over again, leaving me a crying mess at the end of the game. I felt like Joel seeing "my baby girl" being torn apart by her actions and her grief made me suffer and hate everything that happened to her. I empathized with her, a fictional character, to understand how she could just go on and on even though she was clearly hurting herself and everyone around her the whole time. At the end of the game I got the feeling Ellie after Joel's death sought revenge on Abby only to punish herself for not forgiving herself and Joel for their own actions.

    Abby as a stark contrast I actually didn't like that much from the beginning until the end. I didn't care much about her friends, her life or her struggles, however I cared about the people she wanted to protect. She changed over the course of the game and in the end I wanted her to succeed in her plans of finding the fireflies not for her sake, but for her companion's - Lev.

    I like that the bait and switch from Ellie to Abby after being confronted by her in the theater on Day 3. I actually looked forward to see her experience losing her friends one after the other I got to kill as Ellie.

    At the end of the game I didn't want either of those women to die. Just rest and be happy again for god's sake.

    The only thing about I really disliked was the last chapter in Santa Barbara. It felt tagged on and rushed and I didn't get enough info on a new section "The rattlers" to satisfy my need for world building.

    Overall I recommend this game and advice to empathize with it's characters struggles and inner thoughts    … Expand

I do love this in every way possible, gameplay looks fun and innovative, graphics looks so sharp and lush, as for the story i loved how it goes from the last point of the first game and how it ended without anymore bloodshed, Ellie did good by letting Abby lives, and she did right by Joel in my opinion, as of inclusion of LGBQT+ i see it doesn't affect the story at all, my rate is still standing at 10/10 Masterpiece game.… Expand

But after beating it, I really believe the studio did justice to all of the characters in the end. In the least spoiler way I can say - there is a period in the middle of the game where I legitimately wanted to stop playing because I didn’t want to play as the character I was in control of. However, a couple hours later, I became really invested in the story and new perspective. Visually the game is stunning. Gameplay is incredibly solid, though it is quite violent at times. I’m not a squeamish person, and I still found myself cringing at times. Overall, this game is truly an emotional experience that makes you THINK. So many diehard fans out there are saying that the studio has ruined their favorite characters, and I just really don’t buy that. Just because the story didn’t go the way you expected/hoped based on your dreams of a sequel doesn’t mean it isn’t a perfectly crafted story with fully realized and developed character motivations. Play this game. Sit with this game. Experience this game. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you away.… Expand

    Me parece un muy buen juego y aunque falla ciertamente en su narrativa, no me parece justo echar a perder el trabajo que se hizo en este juego puesto que este tiene una gran calidad respecto a sus otros apartados como hay que destacar, el técnico y solo por este apartado se merece su reconocimiento y esta bien el hecho de criticar de manera contractiva los aspectos en los que flaquea peroMe parece un muy buen juego y aunque falla ciertamente en su narrativa, no me parece justo echar a perder el trabajo que se hizo en este juego puesto que este tiene una gran calidad respecto a sus otros apartados como hay que destacar, el técnico y solo por este apartado se merece su reconocimiento y esta bien el hecho de criticar de manera contractiva los aspectos en los que flaquea pero no me parece justo que esto arruine todo el demás trabajo y la imagen en general del juego… Expand

Intense to say the least.I think, put simply, the polarisation that the story created reflects the IQ gap within the gaming community. If you can't separate your illogical emotional biases from the fictional characters and, as a result, think the plot is "bad", you're low IQ. Thanks Naughty Dog for the emotional rollercoaster and for taking risks.… Expand

    Well written story. The gameplay is amazing. Rating 8 as I do not think some scenes were necessary. The game should have been slightly shorter.

    the game is really good i enjoyed every part of it every yes there are some parts in the story that makes you a Little sad but every aspect of the game is amazing the story is solid and the graphics are so realistic and the gameplay is so excellent so in conclusion i recommend the game so mush i give it 10 out of 10 this game is a MASTERPIECE

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
