    In my opinion this game is both too big and too short.

    It tell a very big story almost three Times the size of the average noughty dog story, and it starts to get borring by the time you get to the second half of the game.     If you are a player that rushes trough the game and doesnt allow himself Into the last of us tipical
    scavenging and exploration, you Will lose lore trough carácter interaction and collectible notes, that increses the way you view the characters in the game, and that Will give you context to their relations

    The game has some pacing issues created by the dificulty of talking such a huge and complex story, it has a abrupt Change between part 1 and part 2 of the game, and it stops you from enjoying part 2 if you were not able to calmly and openmindedlly play the first part.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I first finished TLOUP2 I was mad, angry, disappointed and frustrated. After the credits rolled I was thinking “what a let down” until I decided to try and replay the game and see things differently. After a second play through I can say that this game is a masterpiece of storytelling. Yes **** dies rather quickly. I was angry, I hated Abby so very much. but that is exactly what the game is trying to make you feel. Anger, resentment, hate, & revengefulness. You are SUPPOSED to hate Abby, You are SUPPOSED to feel these emotions in full force. People have failed to see exactly what Naughty Dog was going for. Of course we wanted Ellie to get revenge. We all wanted Abby dead. But unfortunately real life doesn’t always work in your favour, you don’t always get what you want. The game made me feel all of these emotions including happiness, sorrow, resent, hate, love, revenge, & forgiveness. No game has EVER made me feel all of these emotions through 1 play through let alone 2. However, I think if the game went back and forth between Abby & Ellie’s story as apposed to 3 days as Ellie then 3 as Abby. It would’ve made each death more impactful making the player feel EVEN worse for the actions they committed while on this ultimately failed revenge path. Ellie ends up forgiving Abby. Revenge is not what the story is about.... Forgiveness is what The Last Of Us Part II is truly about. It will go down as by far one of THEE greatest gaming expirences you will ever witness from a story standpoint. The gameplay is just as fun as it was in the first game. With the mechanics being polished and shining brighter then they ever have before. It is even further enhanced by the drop dead gorgeous graphics. Every scene is jaw dropping. Especially on a PS4 pro with a 4k display. Action is brought to brutally realistic detail with every weapon fired and every slice of Ellie’s switchblade. You felt every punch, slice, and every bullet. If you go into TLOUP2 with an open mind and realizing you may not get what you think/want then this game is absolutely worth every minute and dime you spend on it. 9.5/10… Expand

    Well.. This game can easly fight for Goty.. I spend 50+ h in game and still not finish :)
    Only one thing could be better.. Spending skill Points could be more usefull i feel that dont change anything..

    Gonna replay just for ellie parts.

    It's hard to love this game, but i still do.

It's because she still doesn't understand that revenge only screwed her up, but Abby already realized that her search for revenge to kill Joel, killed all of her friends, and that revenge didn't bring anything, but Eliie hasn't realized it yet , I believe that those who didn’t understand the game and gave 4 ~ 5 really didn’t think straight, I think it could be something else, but no problem, TLOUS 2 is a game about love, not revenge, what proves this is that Abby doesn’t wanted to continue revenge, for having someone like Lev, who is important to her.… Expand

    Unos gráficos que tocan techo de la ps4. Jugabilidad muy buena y un sistema de combate y sigilo excelente. No le pongo más nota, ya que la historia no me gustó mucho, hay decisiones en el argumento que no son del todo acertadas a mi gusto personal. Por lo demás un juego excelente.

How far is one willing to go to change what cannot be unchanged, what do we have left except barbarism and anger? Even after everything is in ruins it does not exist in a vacuum, things must change.     I'm not a very good writer so I'll keep this short and spoiler-free. I loved the first game, a solid 9/10 game in my opinion. The sequel takes the moody, depressing world and fleshes it out over a solid 25-30 hour story. It can be somewhat overwhelming if that kind of thing gets to you, especially in the midst of the current pandemic. This is not a story that tries to make you feel happyI'm not a very good writer so I'll keep this short and spoiler-free. I loved the first game, a solid 9/10 game in my opinion. The sequel takes the moody, depressing world and fleshes it out over a solid 25-30 hour story. It can be somewhat overwhelming if that kind of thing gets to you, especially in the midst of the current pandemic. This is not a story that tries to make you feel happy and it never pretends to either. Video games typically don't get an emotional response out of me, but this one was different. I had been so invested in characters that returned from the first game and a couple new ones as well, but by the time you really get going you may not even recognize them as the same characters you interacted with in part 1, not because of poor writing, but through character development that's both believable and engaging. This isn't a story with a single "message" or "theme," there are so many ways you can look at the story and take from it what you will just like the first game, a game that inspired so much theory-crafting and discussions about the morality and where the story could possibly go from there. I'd say this story did the same, but not in the way many were expecting. There is a section of the game about 2/3rds through that seems to drag on far too long, but other than that I was immersed and invested in the characters and the setting.

    Gameplay is where I feel the game falls short of expectations. It really feels like more of the same with a few quality of life improvements. Part 1 came out in 2013, releasing a sequel seven years later with nearly the same combat makes it feel like an old game with a new coat of paint. It can be fun and it can get really intense but I really have to crank the difficulty up to keep it exciting.

    Overall I thought it was a fantastic story that took risks and still managed to keep me emotionally invested and immersed. The gameplay was lacking any real big improvements, but the actors performances were all fantastic. I'd say it's definitely worth playing to anyone with a Playstation 4.

    I'm really interested to see what's next for the series, be it a small side story like Left Behind or a bigger one like Uncharted Lost Legacy. Either way I'm on board and I will continue to be watching Naughty Dog to see what they achieve next.    … Expand

El juego me parece brutal en términos de gráficos, jugabilidad y música de fondo, personalmente me gustó la historia porque para mí la murte de Joel tiene sentido ya que el después de estar años en Jackson tranquilamente y sin ningún problema obviamente iba a estar mas confiado que en la primera entrega y que eso le iba a jugar en contra, también me pareció interesante usar a Abby pero el problema que le veo a este personaje es que mato de una forma demasiada brutal y cobarde a Joel de tal forma en la que es muy dificil empatizar con ella, por eso me pareció muy duro tener que usarla cuando llega al teatro y tener que darle una brutal golpiza y no saber si vamos a terminar matandola. lo malo que le vi yo a la historia es la inclusión de genero totalmente forzada, me pareció muy raro que Abby le haya perdonado la vida a Ellie después de todo lo que hizo para vengarse y luego Ellie le haya perdonado la vida a ella después de como mató a su ser mas querido. Para mi si le hubieran dado a Joel una muerte un poco mas digna, no forzar la inclusión de genero de una forma tan obvia (Ellie no tiene nada que ver porque en la primera entrega se vio que era homosexual y de igual manera le tenemos un cariño enorme) y que en la primera pelea de Ellie vs Abby te deje elegir a quien usar y quien tiene que ganar para asi terminar este ciclo de venganza de una forma mas coherente y así se entendería mas por qué le dieron tanto empeño a querer hacernos empatizar con ella para que se vuelva una dificil desición… Expand

I do wish more people actually understood what the game really is about, instead of being mad because something happened to our favourite anti-heroes. People are mad cause its not an happy ending. I hope you can really learn to figure out the message of the game by yourself instead of following the hate train about it. Not gonna lie i also was expecting something with a happier outcome after 7 years of waiting, to conclude the story, but just cause it wasnt predictible doesnt make it not great, maybe makes it even better.     A true emotional rollercoaster. Well written and likeable characters, outstanding graphics and gameplay. My only issue with the game was that you play too long with Abby I believe that her screen time could have been cut to half.

    This is by far the most emotional game i have ever played. The pacing and storytelling is bold and i admire what ND did with the story. My only problem is the game is still a videogame and it makes for a Grim and dreadfull experience to play this again. That would be the only thing that would get Ellie on a revenge rampage... it makes sense, let’s not forget that they killed Sarah in the first minutes of the 1st game in the most beautiful game scene we ever saw/felt! That being said, I have one problem with it: The Chronological jumps to show the players the story! The producers used these flashbacks to make us feel how they wanted us to feel, like now we want u to feel nostalgic, so there is a Ellie and Joel scene from the past. For me they should’ve played everything in Chronological Order, that way we would be able to see Joel and Ellie relationship get stronger and then bad when she found out the truth of the 1st game, and in the mist of it the cataclistic event that pushes the game forward. Then Abby and Ellie switches should happen in the same day, like Seattle 1 with Abby, then Seattle 1 with Ellie.. because the way it is right now, when you play Abby, this long time feels like its a different game and and a different story, and you kinda feel it disconects from the main story and then they patch up at the end! If they changed the order not only of the main levels also for most of the flashbacks they would delivered better the same powerful story that really connects from beginning til the end!… Expand

    Comparing this sequel to the first one, I can tell that it had improvements in every technical aspect. The graphics are incredible, sometimes even looking like a movie with real people. The gameplay is awesome as well, and every fight is just as violent and satisfying as it should be.     Although the game seems perfect so far, it is not. The main factor in this game is the story. And even though I can understand and actually like some choices they took with the plot, most of it seems like they pushed it too far to have a story to tell in this game. The writting is good but it had so much more potential if they had gone with a saffer route. This gets evident when the most memorable parts of the game are a few flashbacks to the time when the first game ended.
    Summing all this up, the game is far from being bad and I actually had a good time playing it, but if you compare it directly to the first game, it stands quite behind, since that one raised the bar really high.    … Expand

    Just as The Last of Us was the perfect way to introduce the next generation of the PlayStation with the PS4, Part 2 is the perfect introduction to the PS5 and sendoff for the PS4. Gorgeous and immaculate visuals, a tough and intense story, and characters with soul. While not living up to the masterpiece level of the first one, it’s a near masterpiece that people will remember for a long time.

Después de pasarme el juego y reflexionar sobre el, después de encontrarme con muchas emociones y sensaciones, debo decir que the last of us parte 2 es un juego bastante bueno, si bien es cierto tiene ciertas partes en la historia que molestan un poco como puede ser el hecho de que muchas muertes son demaciado simples o lo mucho que forzaron al principio la muerte de Joel.
    A nivel narrativo el juego es un 7.5 de 10, haciendo que la historia no dañe para nada el gameplay.
    A nivel artístico y visual es 10 de 10.
    A nivel de diseño de niveles 10 de 10.
    Banda sonora 10 de 10.
    Gameplay y mecánicas 8.5 de 10. Las Actuaciones fueron excelentes el juego te transmite muchas cosas, alguna vez una persona me enseño que los juegos no solo te deben transmitir sensaciones positivas, si no que también pueden llegar a destruirte.

It's like drinking a Scotch while listening to Bob Dylan's 'A hard rains going fall' and watching 'No Country for Old Man'. It's not suppose to be 'fun'. It's a "heavy" game and I loved it.

Getting to see it from both points of view changed everything for me and was absolutely necessary for us to understand both women and their need for revenge.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An opening note: I was not spoiled prior to this game's release and, despite being a fan of the first, went in with zero expectations.

    This is easily one of, if not the, best looking game I've ever played. The detail and art direction is incredible! However, it's certainly noticeable the PS4 is being pushed to its limits here and it buckles with various distracting graphical glitches throughout.

    There's also plenty of new additions to the gameplay and combat which make for a visceral, tense and effective experience. The progression alongside it is also satisfying to take part in. Unfortunately there is some clunky gameplay at times (allies getting in the way, iffy dodging), particularly in the first boss fight between Ellie and Abby - which felt a little jarring in design and certainly halted the pace in an otherwise riveting confrontation.

    The soundtrack is superbly emotional and exciting when it needs to be. Likewise, the performances are raw and heartfelt. The story never lets up in its ambition. The sense of scale in its settings, themes and emotions is truly admirable and truly felt like a step-up from its predecessor. Across my nearly 30 hour playtime I was enthralled and pleased to be able to experience such a vast and diverse story - from the nail-biting opening act, hearing the first whistles of the Seraphites, the horror of Seattle's ground zero, the invasion of the Seraphites island, and the emotional conclusion. All of it memorable and successfully balancing strong character drama, themes, action, horror, and excitement the whole way through.

    The structure of the game effectively twisted every emotion I had. What I wanted at the beginning of the game was vastly different from what I wanted at the end of it. This is because there is true care, time and heart poured into all the characters here, most especially Ellie and Abby, who I grew to love just as much as each other. Abby especially was a difficult task to pull off, yet the more we experience with her and learn of her, the more my reluctance grew to acceptance, and finally to appreciation.

    This roller coaster of perspectives, motives, flaws and strengths throughout ultimately paid off, and having become so attached to both sides of the story, Naughty Dog successfully made me feel the utter pain and tragedy of the violent cycle these characters are stuck in. Making me desperate to see some solace be found in it all, which ultimately made the conclusion all the more emotionally satisfying for me. I felt as though I found peace, just as its characters did.

    To added benefit, I have never seen gameplay mechanics used to push me into such uncomfortable and reluctant places before, truly utilising and forwarding this medium's potential. And while this story and gameplay may be too daring for some, its dedication to its story and risks is never not apparent, and Naughty Dog knew to be patient and put just the right amount of time into the experience to make it work. At least for me, anyway.

    All in all, this game is full of experiences, characters, themes and a story I'm sure not to forget. And I loved it.    … Expand

Although there are a couple bugs in the game, they have not interrupted my experience at all. The story was phenomenal in the fact that this revenge story surprisingly had a bitter-sweet ending. The ending seemed bad at first, but with some context clues, I believe the ending was much more than it seemed. I definitely recommend everyone to play this game, but definitely play the first one before playing this one.… Expand

    This is more than just a game. Reggie once said "If it isn't fun then why play it" Well the gameplay is extremely fun on the harder difficulties. The type of fun that gets your heart pumping.     Well the gameplay is extremely fun on the harder difficulties. The type of fun that gets your heart pumping. Except for one boss battle which was more frustrating than fun, the gameplay is phenomenal.

    The story does something that I feel no other medium would be able to replicate to this fine of a degree, it forces you to empathize.

    As foreign of a concept that may seem to people who just wanted to feel good playing the game, it truly makes you apart of the world that's so realistic that it took me a few days after finishing the game to process whatever that story was.
    But with time, I realized how much of a masterpiece this game was.

    The only reason I don't give it a 10 is that they didn't innovate much on the stealth gameplay mechanics. I got a little bored with the gameplay, but couldn't stop because I needed to know how it ended.

    But as a story about complicated, often unlikeable characters struggling through the worst experiences imaginable, it is a masterpiece.

    It's like Game of Thrones. All the characters are flawed and trying to make the best of the worst situation. It is a meditation on revenge and the costs to one's soul.

    And it forces you to play as both the protagonist and the antagonist in order to make you FEEL for their struggles and motivations.

    The developers had to know that they were probably ahead of much of their audience on telling a story that revolves around LGBTQ characters and they did it anyway.

    Ten years from now this game will be considered a pivotal moment in the transition from entertainment as movies to entertainment as interactive stories.

    I can't count the number of times I jumped out of my chair or had to wipe down my controller because of the sweat.

    A 94 score from critics and a 5.5 score from users just highlights how far our society has to come in accepting that LGBTQ characters deserve incredible stories about their struggles just as much as straight characters in literally every other game ever made.

    When I read people who say the writing is bad I feel like I'm in a different universe. There are scenes in this game that literally brought tears to my eyes.    … Expand

    - Visuellement, ce jeu est magnifique. Dans bien des scènes, aucun mot n'est nécessaire pour comprendre les émotions des personnages, tant les expressions faciales sont impressionnantes de réalisme. Les décors, les paysages, ... Tout est sublime.
    - La musique, moins présente que dans le premier, est toujours aussi puissante
    - Le Gameplay reste fidèle à ce qui avait été fait dans le premier, et ça fonctionne toujours aussi bien. On y trouve de nouvelles armes, la faculté de ramper, les chiens qui ajoutent une pression supplémentaire, ...
    - Pour l'histoire, on est sur une histoire de vengeance "classique" MAIS la narration fait toute la différence ; les choix scénaristiques sont plutôt culottés, faire mourir Joel dans les 2 premières heures du jeu allait forcément diviser. Sa mort est brutale, rapide, et l'envie de vengeance est forte. Dans la deuxième partie, on incarne Abby, la personne ayant tué Joel. Choix risqué, le but étant de nous faire comprendre son point de vue. Même si au début je la détestais, cela a bien fonctionné pour moi, j'ai même fini par m'attacher à elle, et à espérer qu'elle survive, tout comme Ellie.
    La fin est glaçante, Ellie a tout perdu, et son pire cauchemar se réalise : elle est toute seule, toutes les personnes qu'elle a aimé sont mortes, ou l'ont abandonnée.
    Les flashback de Ellie avec Joel sont très touchants, et le jeu nous fait traverser tout le spectre des émotions.
    - L'accessibilité du jeu est un exemple à suivre pour toutes les futures productions, permettant aux personnes avec un handicap de profiter de l'expérience.

Even if you hated the story; the gameplay, level design, sound design, pacing, combat and more, were all absolutely supreme to all other games of our generation. I frequently found myself doubling up on animations when running from the genuinely terrifying enemies, but the game didn't glitch out. It never interrupted animations that were triggered overlapping. If you pull out the shotgun, you have to physically pull it off of your back. This added to the visceral realism of the world they created; A truly challenging survival horror. This game will be forever one of the greats. And hopefully after this trendy hate train dies down in a few years, this game will resurface with the love it deserves. Congrats Naughty Dog on not bending over for the ravenous vultures that embody fan culture, and for not giving us a fan-pleasing, unoriginal piece of garbage.     Extremely well done game. The amount of detail and polish is astounding, level design & sound design are second to none. ND made some bold choices storywise, but they managed to make it work and deliver an amazing end-product.

    Best enjoyed alone, in the dark and with some studio quality headphones on.

    Gameplay is obviously god-tier. The story though, at least to me, was perfectly complex, and the ending was completely justified. Aside from some pacing issues, I can't stop thinking about it. I feel emotionally drained, mentally exhausted, yet... renewed? If that makes sense?

At the end, the story makes you feel what Ellie and Abby both suffer, and makes you understand that it wasn'ti just finished playing it and I did liked it. I still haven't coped with this feeling of grief (and it's been almost two weeks already). But no other game made me feel such strong feelings, ever, so for me it's masterpiece. The story is great, but I realized it only several days after finishing the game (after some thinking). Scars plot line didn't work for me (looked a little bit like tomb raider), so minus one point for that.

Accessibility options are magnific, never saw something like that. Soundtrack and graphics also great. Gameplay bores a little because there are no major changes in how to play, that didn´t happen in the first one because it was shorter and more well-paced. The main problem it´s that the game is way much longer than it should be. New characters are good and everything got the The Last Of Us vibe. I think it´s not as bad as people say but 94?! Come on! Is good, just like that. Plain good. Maybe it feels a little more-greater-than-life because Naughty Dog now knows the potential of this IP, but just enjoy it, or not, i don´t know, it totally works for me but I see people getting away and I fully understand it.

The mix of sneaking shooting and looting is perfectly balanced and you always fell like you’re doing something new. To add to this, the story is great and what was actually leaked happens in the first hour of the game.I feel like it’s my duty to rate this since I’ve actually played the game. It’s good, it’s really good. The actual gameplay, what I look for in playing video games is great. The mix of sneaking shooting and looting is perfectly balanced and you always fell like you’re doing something new. I could see how this game could trigger “edgier” people aka racists, sexists, homophobes and the likes but the theme of inclusivity that’s added on top of the story make anyone except a bigoted white male feel represented.     It was fun. It was very brutal. AI incredibly tricky sometimes. Combat satisfying and disturbing due to the shrills of pain. Too much pro gay agenda honestly but still an ok game. I played it. Felt bad for Joel. Felt confused about the ending it was unrealistic to me. I enjoyed it and I'm glad I played it. Probably not going to play it again though.

    While the pacing and structure can be nauseating on a first playthrough, the subtext, elements, character depth and unconventional methods to support a poignant theme resonate from the square button to the end credits. Not as bad as people think it is. Everything was 10/10 quality apart from certain structural issues and lmao “bigot sandwiches“. Loved breathing every minute into this world.

    I didn't read much going into this game because I wanted it to be a complete surprise. I had heard rumblings of negativity before it's release but I just ignored them and I am happy I did because this game was an absolute joy to play. It might not be for everyone, but this is a game that I will most definitely play again.

Overall I rate this game a 8/10 for pure graphics and gameplay. It only fell short of a 9 because of character flaws and pour development of the story. I also do not like the constant flashback gameplay and wish it was more one direction in the story. Overall a great game though.     I don't get all the bad raving about this game. I think it was a masterpiece, and a worthy successor to TLOU in every way. The story just happens to be dark and very realistic and reasonable.

    I ended up appreciating Abby's motive more than Ellie's or Joel, and was rooting for Abby till the very end. I'm glad they didn't lol her off.

    Great game! Will play again.

    Do not listen to the emotionally immature kids on this site who in the emo state give it a 0 score,
    they are blinded by rage (ironically don't get the moral of the game: revenge destroys your own life) because of their bias for Joel who gets murdered in a way they do not like. Like many in that world whose lives were ended by Joel, he gets the same treatment. Instead of appreciating and understanding the development the characters went through which was shown in during the game, they only focus on 1 moment in the game.

    The long playthrough was very enjoyable. You get to witness both sides of the story. Abby was a likeable character. I enjoyed her part more. The ending is just perfect, I came to like both characters and didn't want any to die. The gameplay is never dull because there are so many ways you can complete the encounters. Stealth, kill, sneak by or a combination of these. The animation work is best I've ever seen in a game. The amount of options you can change is unreal.

    I can confidently say this is the best game on the PS4. Best played on PS4 Pro.
    Stunning visuals with HDR on my LG OLED and the sound effect, especially the gunshots were amazing. Therefore recommended to play with a good headset or a home theater system like I did.

    Honestly, this game doesn't deserve as much hate as some of these people have given it. It actually exceeded my expectations. The only issues I have with the game is the independent jump button, which is unnecessary in my opinion. And some scenes needed to be rearranged to allow smoother story progression. The gameplay is phenomenal and I only encountered only one glitch that involves invisible walls over certain objects you can not shoot through.     At the beginning I wasn't sure if I would have liked the game as much as I did with the part 1, but at the ending, the final was really unexpected and I think it's best final there could be. I really hope for a part 3!

I was like everyone else at first, hating Abby, hating Joel’s death, and wanting to just plainly quit the game. It’s a story that must be played fully, and then given a lot of thought after completing. In the end I left with my own critiques and thoughts on it that are still evolving. I just really can’t get over how fractured Ellie’s character is now. The staple characters are broken or dead, and it hurts to see their stories end so quickly and viciously. That’s life I geuss. I think we all understand violence is bad, revenge is bad, and cycles that perpetuate those things need to end. We have countless stories repeating that same thing because it never ends, nobody learns. violence won’t ever end. I suppose that’s why i atleast wanted Ellie to carry out her revenge pursuit, for the same appeasement revenge stories seem to frame with positive closure. This story didn’t do that, and it was something you had to deal with, just as the characters did. All In all, i think this story can promote inner growth too in a way. Although I think all stories are meant to be reflected upon. Give it some of your critical brain juice. It’s not bad writing. It’s just not the story you’re used too. Additional commentary: I really liked the portal of a fierce lesbian protagonist. She was just a person, and not just her sexuality. We need more portals of women just being people, not boxed into some genere. It was nice to see something of myself reflected on screen.… Expand

    Game length is the only reason this game is a 9 and not a 10. It could have been shortened by 5 hours and this game still would have been really great. At times it was kind of a drag just traversing the world... but I would do it again.

    You dont have to like this game, but I think everyone needs to play it. If you enjoy art, you will enjoy this game regardless.
    Quality is superb technically from animations, to playability and probably best graphics I've seen in any game so far.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
