    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you played the first and not hung over characters, then you will know that the end set up consequences for Joel making the decision to sacrifice the many to save the one.

    With Joel’s death, Ellie is on a revenge quest that also makes you see the other side of a revenge tale with Abby. The story is great if you understand tragedy in literature, however, for more impact, I would have place the play through in different sequences, but ultimately end up in the same place where revenge begats revenge and no one wins.

    This tale seems to set up a third hopefully and can’t wait to see what that entails if they go the way of showing off the resurrected fireflies. I’ve read and seen many reviews about people upset with Abby, but to me it was a way to show off her side of events just to reach the conclusion and nothing more. Excellent gameplay and controls feel smooth where I’m not fumbling around to figure out what I need in major boss fights and encounters are just as nerve racking as the first, loved it. Definitely a must buy.    … Expand

    Ce jeu est un chef d'oeuvre. Il n'est pas parfait et le scénario divise, mais il n'en reste pas moins cohérent et sert très bien son propos et fait beaucoup de sens.

    Me acuerdo cuando me pasé la primera parte , y estaba deseando probar la nueva aventura de este universo , the last 2 es un juego increíble con momentos irrepetibles , con una buena banda sonora y una jugabilidad que supera al uno con creces , con unos gráficos de 10 y apenas Bugs por no decir ninguno . That said, I personally enjoyed the story, and have yet to see any truly glaring "plot holes." In fact, I don't think most people using that term to describe this game know what it means.

    It's undeniable that this game is visually stunning and has vastly superior gameplay to TLOU 1. The combat is fun and there's a nice and diverse set of weapons to use. I also really appreciate all of the customization tools. You can customize difficulty in really specific and unique ways, you have the option to replay specific chapters or even encounters, and there are a ton of ways to customize accessibility.

    While I don't think TLOU 2 is quite on the same level as God of War (2018), I think it's just a notch below, maybe on par with HZD. It doesn't deserve 1/100th of the hate it's gotten, and will likely be seen as a tremendous accomplishment in a few years once all the controversy dies down.

    And to the people losing their minds over this game, just...play something else. Nothing good comes out of blind rage, which, ironically, is the central theme of TLOU 2.    … Expand

    Here I am two weeks after finishing the game and still giving thought to the entire experience. The story and depth of the characters is nuanced, gritty and emotionally poignant. The fact that so many are angry is a testament to how beloved the characters are. Thematically the equivalent of 'No Country for Old Men' for the gaming industry. People will be talking about this one for years.

    I finished my second play through of the game and it is a masterpiece to me. Are there areas of opportunity? Of course... all games have them. This game achieved a fluidity of gameplay and combat that is unparalleled. Play super stealthy and slow if you want, but the fast paced, jumping off boxes, hurdling through windows all while avoiding bullets and taking down “bad guys” was so muchI finished my second play through of the game and it is a masterpiece to me. There was some clunkiness i experienced when interacting with objects, but otherwise this gameplay was phenomenal.
    The story was compelling and challenging. I have seen many people argue that this was the weakest element of the game, but I would disagree. I do not agree that people “acted out of character” or that there were pacing issues. I genuinely appreciated the direction and end result.

If they'd understood the message and themes of the first game, then they would realise that TLOU II shows the consequences of decisions made by character's in the first game, absolutely true to the world ND created.     For me, this game is a 10, but it took me a while to come to that conclusion. I had to take a week away from video games after I finished the story. Not intentionally, but I just didn't have the heart to play anything else. This game was extremely difficult to play at times. But it's also the most fully formed and outrageously effective attempt at an immersive, narrative-driven video game that I've ever seen. Its absolutely outstanding.

    After the first couple of hours I was so invested in what was happening, why it was happening and where the story would go that I just sort of melted into the world and the story that ND are telling. It's hard to discuss any story and/or character moments without going into spoilers, but sufficed to say it's Naughty Dog's biggest and most ambitious game yet. It's probably also the most challenging game I've ever played.

    There are more than a few moments where I DID NOT want any part of what was happening on screen, and that's because this game does not shy away from showing you some really **** up **** Like, truly haunting, harrowing **** Animal lovers in particular beware. I'm the sort of guy that cries anytime a dog gets hurt or dies in a movie. **** I cry whenever dogs are happy, like those videos where their owner returns from overseas and they can't handle their excitement and joy. There there are moments where I felt sick with guilt while playing through Ellie's story.

    The violence is never gratuitous however, at least not in my opinion. It's raw and graphic and feels extremely real, but ultimately this game is a discussion about violence, obsession, and about revenge. It asks you as the player to think about how far you would go for revenge? How far is too far? Is revenge justified when it's born out of love for someone, to want to get payback for them? It shows the fallout of actions made when people let violence and anger envelop them. And it shows them in graphic detail. But it's also a story about love, grief, acceptance, and change. I genuinely believe it to be a much deeper story than some give it credit for. Again, tough to say more without spoilers. I'll leave it by saying that ND did the impossible with regard to the story they chose to tell. And I am so thankful that they did.    … Expand

    The game hit so many emotional high points. Pacing felt like a roller coaster, with tense highs and dramatic lows. I both loved & hated almost every character. The game was incredible and I just wish I could play more of it. As a huge fan of the first story, I was immediately consumed by this one. It absolutely delivered.

That being said, I loved it from start to finish nonetheless. I was a big fan of the first game, and despite the change in direction for Part II, nothing felt out of place for me. Jumping into the world of TLOU felt good after all those years, and it felt familiar. Then, BAM!, we’re faced with tragedy: Joel’s brutal death at the hands of Abby. “Who is this girl, anyway?” I was quite upset. Much like Ellie, I wanted revenge; I bought in. On a three day quest through the ruins of Seattle, I felt angry, and I could not wait to find Abby and get revenge. After all, Joel’s death couldn’t go unpunished. Then, in another unexpected turn of events, I’m forced to live the same three days as my dreaded enemy: Abby. At first, I wasn’t pleased with this turn of events, but I ended feeling for Abby at the end of this three day journey. Joel’s death was hard to stomach, but The Last of Us was never about heroes and villains, and I am okay with that. The sorry wasn’t what I expected; it wasn’t even really what I wanted at first, but it turned out to be better. For me, it’s 10/10. As far as the gameplay is concerned, it’s an improvement in just about every way when comparing the game to its predecessor. Much like Uncharted 4 learned from The Last of Us, Part II learned from U4. I also really liked that playing as the Ellie felt different from playing as Abby. In fact, I like that every character I’ve played as in the world has felt different. Another 10/10 for me in that category. To each their own.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Again the narrative at the height of the circumstances. In the first instance with a surprising event, such as the death of Joel. Then again the game makes you hate it and generates a feeling of displeasure to the point of wanting to finish it quickly. More precisely I mean the point where Ellie is about to die and the plot forces you to play with abby, the counterpart and the villain that up to that moment you can only hate. But then, like all great works ... more precisely remembering Batman dark knight, a work that you enjoy so much that you are afraid it will end and on several occasions when you are willing to let that end come ... the plot surprises you and you stretch the story. Well friends, this work made me remember that beautiful feeling. It also gives you mixed feelings, since it makes you fond of that villain in the first instance and at a distance makes you think that according to the point of view one can be a villain or hero. Playing the same story from two points of view, in this case antagonistic, is a very good resource. The same resource that in its time used Resident Evil 2 that made it so special. As for the conclusion of the story ... one with so many laps and so much time spent with both protagonists ... I would have liked a more pacifist, more conciliatory ending ... but after all, it is at the level of what one I hoped ... it didn't happen ... and it didn't. In short it is worth it and you will delight from start to finish ... one last recommendation ... try to have an open mind and not take anything personal. Regards… Expand

    I took my time with this game, over 40 hours, explored the environments and buildings thoroughly. ND's attention to detail is astonishing. Best console graphics I have ever seen. Gameplay was superb and trying different tactics was tons of fun. I avoided spoilers as much as possible but had that "one" major event spoiled by some fool on    What a ride! Truly Naughty Dog's Magnum Opus.

Anyway if you love getting lost in a game, appreciate a great story (don't go in expecting to have it play out the way YOU want it to) then give this one a shot. You won't regret it.     A história traz uma relação entre amor e ódio entre os personagens, trata de de uma história de vingança que faz você se imergir totalmente no enredo, é de longe uma das melhores histórias e gameplay, com todos os aspectos já conhecidos, mas aplicados perfeitamente, não tenho palavras pra expressar o quanto esse jogo mexe com a cabeça do jogador.

The game both expands on Joel and ellies relationship and introduces new characters that are charming and complicated creating very an emotionally heart wrenching and tense experience in which the game asks you to have empathy for everyone and that no ones a hero in this story.     I have loved and played the first game from over 6 years so much that I've played through it 14 times with 100s of hours in the game’s surprise hit factions game mode. I have listened to the soundtrack for the main game and its wonderful DLC many time when I really should have been studying. When I first played The Last of Us Part 1 I was a Year 7 high school kid, in that time much hasI have loved and played the first game from over 6 years so much that I've played through it 14 times with 100s of hours in the game’s surprise hit factions game mode. I have listened to the soundtrack for the main game and its wonderful DLC many time when I really should have been studying. When I first played The Last of Us Part 1 I was a Year 7 high school kid, in that time much has changed for me and its wonderful to see The Last of Us grow and change with the times just as we all have. Please understand that I would be truly sad if this game was bad or even just good and to be clear it’s not perfect, for example it has more characters than the first and its pacing is not as airtight. However, the first game was imperfect as well (like any playable game) mainly on the gameplay side. I have played this game a total of 3 times on hard then normal new game plus where I got the platinum trophy and again on survivor with no NG+ upgrades. In this time I have collected over 74 hours of play as well as every collectable. In doing so I've opened ever drawer, stabbed every morally-grey guard and seen ever cutscene 3 times plus. I'm 8 hours or so deep on a fourth play through. In light of all the controversy and in order to produce an informed opinion and to truly enjoy this game I have so longed for, I have waited more than a month to write this after release. So what does all this add up to? Well in short I love this game deeply, in spite of nostalgia and the years of memories I can say that The Last of Us 2 is a better game than the first in almost every way. Before I say more as you may have noticed I am a severely dyslexic person and to finally have the option to read the many notes in the game (via the auto-read function) is so wonderful. To have a game that recognises and accommodates me and many other like me is a dream come true and I can’t tell you how much this changed the game for me, so before any more silly words thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now with that to one side, this game has lofty ambitions in both its story and gameplay, and for my money this is the best stealth game since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Its bloodily and desperate fights, especially on survivor, are everything that I wish the first game’s combat could have been and then some (btw I love the first game’s combat and think it's underrated), with plenty of great combat arenas holding some stellar enemy design and diversity, with lots of expanded traversal and crafting options which should please new and old comers alike. Now that we've established this, I believe it is time to discuss the core of this game and easily its most controversial element: the game’s beautiful and nuanced story. When describing The Last of Us Part 2 to friends and peers I like to begin by using the example of the tone of the winter section of the first game and go from there; that is to say this game is dark and knows it. Now of course this will come as no surprise to consumers of the first game. Many of us, including myself, may be surprised to know how just dark this game gets. With this said it still maintains the alluring flickering hope of the first game, embodied in different surprising ways in its three main characters: Joel (though not in a normal way), Ellie and ?? (play to find out). For example, there is a beautiful guitar scene that rivals the likes of Bioshock Infinite, wonderful heart-warming moments like this are as memorable as any from the first game and are never far from my memory. In short, much of this game’s backlash can be summarised through its unwillingness to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, which on the surface is a problem but in reality marks this game's intention to strive for something new. It would have been so easy to create a by-the-numbers sequel seemingly expected with the precedence established by something like Uncharted, but the game bravely refuses to sit on its laurels and in doing so creates an experience that cannot just be viewed only from the standards of the first but is something entirely new in its own right. To see this level of creativity and willingness to experiment in a big budget game like this is so heart-warming for a movie fan used to safe big budget sequels. In totality The Last of Us is nothing like what I wanted, in fact the experience of playing it humbled me and made me realise that in reality I didn't fully know what I wanted. Sitting here I'm proud to say that my preconceived ideas did not lead me to reject this game but instead to contemplate its many nuanced elements, and be thankful that I don't have direct control over everything that I love, because if I did the surprises and twists that I so loved in the first game might well not be there. In totality the first game convinced me to study writing at uni, this game inspires me to take what I've learned and go make something from it.… Expand

    História e lançamento: O fato de Ellie está viva já é um belo spoiler do final do primeiro game, que é inevitável não ser citado aqui já que ela é uma personagem central desse game. Não quero me alongar no aspecto da história em si, pois o game sofreu diversos ataques de grupos homofóbicos e extremistas disparando spoilers sobre a história do jogo... O fato de ter um jogo com essa representatividade (dês de sua temática até suas opções de acessibilidade) faz com que jogadores preconceituosos sintam-se "ofendidos". The Last of Us 2 deixa claro dês dos seus trailers que o jogo não precisa desse tipo de jogador (convenhamos, pessoas assim merecem apenas o esquecimento e o silêncio).
    The Last os Us 2 é um jogo que foge totalmente da maioria das histórias maniqueístas de games. Em diversos momentos da história do game senti um choque ... é um game muito pesado em sua narrativa, acompanhado de uma violência gráfica enorme ... Isso não é negativo, mas apenas uma justificativa de que esse game não é nem um pouco recomendável para os mais sensíveis ...

    Mecânicas, jogabilidade e gráficos: Sem dúvida é o game mais perfeito nesse aspecto que já pus as mãos... é inacreditável! Um jogo com a mecânica que beira a perfeição! Cada detalhe do cenário é bem feito, com gráficos foto realista, que me fez perguntar várias vezes se eu realmente estava controlando a personagem (sem exagero!). A física do game é perfeita de fato; reação a tiros, movimentação dos personagens, peso dos objetos, força dos golpes, explosões - você sente o impacto de cada coisa ...
    A violência gráfica entra nesse parte da análise também : quando acertamos os alvos, sejam humanos ou infectados, eles despedaçam, gritam de dor, se arrastam pelo chão em agonia ... é um show de horrores de certa forma "maravilhoso" e impactante, muito bem feito que podem agradar jogadores que gostam de uma certo impacto mais adulto nos combates (como eu haha).
    Quando me referi a uma "mecânica quase impecável", é porque o jogo (ainda) não é de todo perfeito. Algumas texturas demoram meio segundo para renderizar, ou alguns pequenos objetos do cenário parecem não ter texturas nenhuma (como uma garrafa, ou objetos em uma mesa). São detalhes mínimos, mas que não podem ficar de fora de um jogo que tenta ser tão detalhado - mas de forma alguma não afetam em nada no game, podendo ser concertado com um pequena atualização ...

    Conclusão: The Last of Us 2 é uma obra-prima. Tão bom quanto o primeiro, sua inovação não está tanto na forma de narrativa, mas na sua representatividade, acessibilidade e inclusão. Um jogo corajosíssimo em mundo tão intolerante em que vivemos, e com um primor técnico quase perfeito com deslizes desprezíveis. Nota máxima sem nenhuma hesitação!    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is a heart breaking, emotional roller coaster of a story that pulls on your heartstrings at every available opportunity. The game play is an improvement in every way over the first and is some of the smoothest you’ll find out there. The hide and seek combat system is some of the most fun I’ve ever had and the in most cases the fights take place in such large areas there are many ways to take on each encounter. The crafting system lets you improve the guns in your inventory at workbenches scattered around the maps and make useful tools, such as health kits and molotov cocktails, on the fly. The kills can be incredibly gory, and it seems to venture a little too far into murder porn at times. However, I believe it’s done intentionally. The gruesome deaths, shotgun blasts eviscerating opponents, the horrifying screams as WLF soldier burns to death, the way dismemberment happens when someone triggers a mine, the cries that echo through the battlefields as enemies find the bodies of their dead companions, all add to the weight of the action of killing. It’s heavy and weighs on the characters and the player, I had to put the controller down a few times after some of the cutscene deaths and a few of the more graphic close-up fights. But you’re killing people, and the game wants you to know that.

    All that said, the game is beautiful. Seattle is full of new life in this post-apocalyptic world. Lush plant life and rivers cut through the city and it’s quite easy to get lost in the scenery. Sunlight is used to great effect as you explore derelict buildings, boats and the landmarks of Seattle. Rain, snow and thunderstorms are used beautifully to heighten tension and paint gorgeous backdrops and environments in and out of the city. Luckily, there is a photo mode, and one of the better ones out there, to help capture the scenes you want to save. The animators did a fantastic job with each and every character and the game has some of the best voice work in video games to date. I’m actually very upset Ashley Johnson can’t get nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Ellie.

    Now onto the story, this oh so controversial thing that has fans, wrongly, in an uproar. But why? Most don’t even know what they’re mad about because they haven’t bothered playing it. So how is the story really? Simply put, it’s a masterpiece. It’s as engaging as it’s studio predecessor, Uncharted 4, and holds up against the likes of God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Horizon: Zero Dawn. The game is lengthy and weighty and takes a lot of time setting the stage and exploring the characters. The story is one of revenge and what happens when the people who matter most to us get violently ripped away. It uses a dual narrative to draw comparisons as you play as both Ellie on her revenge quest and Abby, Joel’s killer. Ellie’s mission for revenge tugs on your heart strings as she refuses to listen to reason and throws herself and her friends into constant danger trying to take out the person who took what mattered most to her. Then, very suddenly, you are transitioned to Abby’s perspective and story as the clock is moved back and you experience Seattle over the same 3 days you did with Ellie on her hunt. Abby is a hardened killer whose story takes her on journey to regain some of the humanity lost to her as she protects two innocent children caught in a war between the WLF, Washington Liberation Front, or Wolves, a para-military group that took over Seattle and the Scars, or Seraphites as they call themselves, a group of religious fanatics who follow the teachings of The Prophet. A woman who saved many people in the early days of the apocalypse and was killed by the WLF. Abby is not an easy character to like, in fact one of her companions even points out over and over how bad a person she really is. But you aren’t given her perspective to force you to like her. It’s important to the whole story. How revenge is cycle. How killing people even for noble or righteous reasons only leads to more suffering. Connecting the dots between the two stories as you play is thrilling and fun and definitely warrants a second playthrough just to see all the pieces you might have missed. A character encountered as Ellie gets further explored and given life from Abby’s perspective. The game makes you think through each character’s decisions as you realize the full scope actions have, actions you won’t always agree with but because of how well the characters are set up you always eventually understand. The game overall, like the first, is about relationships and the lengths we go to for the ones we love. Not only is it the perfect follow up to the first game but it holds the spirit and ideals explored in the first very close while expanding on and adding too them.    … Expand

    You need to be a little more mature to play this game. If you are a teenager, sorry, this game is not for you, but there are exceptions.
    The game is wonderful, amazing story, but it could be a little better, playing with Abby is fun, because you can kill her in different ways hahaha, but it is also a bit dragged, your story would like to have seen more Joel and Ellie again.

Yes, it is there, but nikah does not affect the narration and the disclosure of the plot. The gameplay in the first half of the game seemed to me more interesting than in the first part of the series, but the gameplay in the second part was very tired, but it had to do to dilute the plot so that it does not seem monotonous. Before passing, you must definitely go through the first part. I highly recommend the game for purchase… Expand

    A wonderful game, so strong and amazing that in the end it will defeat all the hatred that people directed at it. It's unavoidable. For all its shortcomings, TLOU2 has the main advantage - it is one of the best sequels of all time.

    Many are so desperate to recognize who represents the protagonist & the antagonist (good & bad). There is no such thing. It is simply a concept of human perception, like time. Ellie and Abby only represent themselves, as human beings. The game hints at a deeper meaning than just revenge. Closure is the key point of the whole thing, alongside philosophical & biblical meanings. The playersMany are so desperate to recognize who represents the protagonist & the antagonist (good & bad). There is no such thing. It is simply a concept of human perception, like time. Ellie and Abby only represent themselves, as human beings. The game hints at a deeper meaning than just revenge.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
