    excellent game from gameplay to history, I never felt anything as intense playing video games as I felt playing this masterpiece, for me it is a mandatory game in the libraries of every player in the world

The graphics, story, music/sound etc so far have been on point. Get over it, this is not the first time a significant character has passed in a game/movie/tv show. Understand the context of the game. Also, with regards to the main characters, what is it about them that threatens your manhood? We live in a woke world, for better or worse. You need to adapt. You're in for a rude awakening. This is 2020...

    I have been monitoring reviews. Reviews were posted within hours of the game release. No way someone could beat the game in under an hour unless they did some crazy speed run. People are just mad that a main character passed and the LGBTQ representation in the game.

    For those more level-headed, try the game out, you won't be disappointed. Buy the game, beat it, sell it on a third party site. You lose what 20 bucks for playing the game? I was skeptical buying the game because of all the leaks, but I am so glad I did.

    Holy **** this game is absolutely amazing the best game I’ve played in years anyone who dislikes it has some weird misplaced political agenda 10 out of 10 without question. Honestly before I oplayed this game I wary and distrustful of lesbian women but after I have completely realized the error in my ways

    Everything is made with a type of precision and care not seen in most video games. The dialog, acting, graphics, and sound design all come together to create a masterpiece. One of my favorite games of this generation. Ignore the negative reviews. They're mad that marginalized groups finally have representation in a video game.

    I created an account here for the sole purpose of giving this a great review (it deserves it, it's brilliant) and to say that it never ceases to amaze me how people feel entitled to get what they imagine in their head. Grow up, everyone. This is why we can't have nice things. (Also, any review that decries things like diversity should be basically treated like the dreck it is.)

The story is good, if a bit slow in the first 3 hrs or so. The open exploration segments are a bit slow compared to other more action packed segments or flashbacks. Don’t listen to the negative reviews about there being some hidden“agenda” the main character is gay and has a girlfriend, so what? It’s not shoved down your throat and is handled the same way as most heterosexual romances in games. Also in regards to Joel’s death in the first hr of the game, this was not unexpected. If you payed attention in the first fake you’d notice they Joel and his Brother Tommy did a lot of bad things to survive and throughout the first game you anger various groups on your way toward the end of the game. After the climax of the first game and how it ends it makes sense that certain groups would hold a grudge and possibly hunt down Joel. Joel’s story is still very important in this game and he makes appearances in Ellie’s flashbacks. TL,DR If you liked the first one and you don’t mind playing as a Girl who likes girls then you will prob like this one too...… Expand

    This is a great game! The mechanics are basically the same, but the graphics are updated with better mo-cap and some new things added. Bunch of whiner dude-bro neckbeards tanking this game for no reason other than their hate of the gay community during pride month.

I think the problem with the bad reviews from people who wanted happy endings, wanted to play as Joel and Ellie and live in nostalgia of the first game. You need to have an open mind. A second playthrough if you really want but closing your mind off to the experience because of the first act is the reason this game has poor user ratings. This game has an exceptional narrative, like, a mildly weird one considering what I would consider the posture of a story being.. a little slumped in some places. But overall, boxes to check; exceptional representation of women, diversity in orientation, gender and race, hard discussions and quite poignant representations of PTSD, a grit-teeth look at violence and the conception of a very unique way to tell a story. It makes you reconsider how you play the first game. The game is **** intense. Picture me, just chillin' at my craft station to hear the unmistakable sound of thudding footsteps towards me to be thrown out of what felt like a little pause screen. Wrong. Very wrong. Beaten almost to death wrong. The game has a way of keeping you in edge but killing you into safety. Is it crickets or a clicker? The fear in the gameplay outside of what feels like being an unreliable narrator is what adds to the charm but also kind of detracts from the linear element or want of nostalgia for a game.
    Some people are reviewing it without even playing. Thank you naughtydog for honestly making my birthday and having me stay up for like 3 days to finish it. I hate you. But I love you. And I get it. It's an adult game, made by adults. To expect sunshine, happy endings and nostalgia that isn't somewhat bittersweet is not a realistic build up of this franchise. Thank you for making me ugly sob but truly reflect on my actions. Thank you for sticking to the artistic integrity. Thank you for not giving us a "happy" ending.    … Expand

    Tlou2 es un juego totalmente distinto al primero, realmente pensaron que iba hacer igual? una historia basada en amor? claramente no. La parte 2 refleja venganza y odio, te lleva a muchas emociones, desde la felicidad, tristeza, impotencia e incomodidad, qué juego logra eso realmente?.
    Técnicamente el juego es perfecto, excelentes gráficas, ambiente, animaciones y música, es una experiencia que solo se puede entender al experimentarla y no dejarse llevar por comentarios de gente que solo se basó en spoilers y que llegaron sólo a la parte de Abby jajajaja.
    La historia está muy bien hecha, no había otra manera de mostrar ambas realidades, sáquense el estereotipo de juegos que tienen en la cabeza y solo disfruten, valió cada segundo que jugué.

Now I will admit the transition to playing as Abby is a bit odd it took some getting use to her character but now I see why Abby did what she did and I've loved seeing her story. To all those haters who just hate on the fact Ellie is a lesbian or Lev is trans are so simple minded. They can't see that the storytelling in this game is cinematic breathtaking beat for beat. The gameplay is improved upon from the first ones realistic movement and gun mechanics and the graphics are outstanding. This game is definitely GOTY contender and may even win.… Expand

They choose not to accept the writing because they are typically petty that the writers would have consequences to impacting actions from the first game. let's talk about the first game, it was a masterpiece in storytelling. Naughty Dog had a lot of expectations to deliver another astounding story, and in my opinion, they did. The music, atmosphere, graphics are all astounding. Game-play is rough from time to time, usually with enemies being or allies being broken (not in the sense that I suck, just that dodging only worked like half the time). However, there are great moments of game-play such as the island, the sky-bridge, the rat-king, and almost all of Santa Barbara. The only reasons I'm giving this game an 8 and not a 10 like the first game was some storytelling decisions. I understand why Abby would want to kill Joel, I get why Ellie let go of Abby when she could have easily killed her. I am almost entirely okay with the plot. Some things that threw me off is why Joel would easily trust a stranger and going back to their place. There probably could have been a way better, more logical reason to kill off Joel and kick off the story, this was not it. Also when you're playing as Abby, the whole Lev and Yara sideline, in retrospect, did not feel like it fit the entire story. They were entertaining, but I don't know if it was for the sake of the entirety. Another story issue, and was a very main thing, why would I want to play the antagonist and try and kill Ellie? I believe Naughty Dog wants us to feel conflicted, but I already felt conflicted. Last Of Us fans have played way more numbers of hours as Ellie and very few as Abby, so why would I want to kill her? No one in this story is perfect. I think Naughty Dog deliberately made about everyone savages, which I'm fine with, but I don't want to be playing as Abby and going against the person I'd rather be playing, it took me out of the game, personally. Even though the ending in this game was not as hard-hitting as the first, I still understood and enjoyed it somewhat. They probably could have improved on it rather than choosing to leave a bitter, sour taste in my mouths. Preferably end with a cut scene, that has Ellie and Joel bonding. I'm okay with her forgiving Joel, but at least have them hugging or something, to reward the people who have played twenty plus hours.

    Those are my issues, critiques, praises of the game. Please stop being petty about writing decisions that you choose not to even being willing to understand. Give Naughty Dog credit for at least giving good graphics and game play and the balls and bravery to tell a story like this.    … Expand

Joel’s death should have happened in the first game imho, but it really sets up the tone for the second part. I’m so glad that Naughty Dog did this. Plot wise it is absolutely necessary. Graphics is great. It loads so fast even on my original PS4. Soundtrack is awesome: battle
    music especially. Enemies are smart and very difficult. Puzzles are creative and fun. I don’t see any filler content at all. Even optional routes contain unique enemies, notes (that you better be reading) and loot. Most of the negative reviews and comments are by people who read spoilers but haven’t played the game. You need to get hands on for you to truly understand it. And as for the gameplay, it’s naughty dog, the gameplay is brutal and grounded. It’s the most smooth a game has ever felt, everything seems to flow like water from character animations, traversal, to combat. This is possibly the best looking console game out, no question.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really loved the story, although there were times when I literally wanted to punch neil druckmann in the face. But that anger subsided on those parts. Overall, I felt like the themes were clear, when seeking revenge, dig two graves. The ending is absolutely heartbreaking and what the did to Joel made me want to hate the game (along with the Abby parts) but as I was progressing I kept getting more involved with Abby and more sympathetic towards her cause. I still wish Ellie killed Abby, however, regardless of how much of a great character I think she is. I still think the original was better and more emotional (except for maybe the ending of 2, because that really got to me) but overall, the second game is more intense and anger driven. And boy do some of the WLF deaths feel good, like Manny, or Nora. But I understand now why Abby did what she did, and I understand why Ellie let her go, they were destroying themselves. They were both just shells of their former selves, engulfed by that fury from the beginning. This is where the game truly shines, in these moments, where in the end, you realize Ellie isnt a little kid anymore and she leaves the guitar to move on from Joel and her past. And the camera pans to a closeup if the guitar to give us that last glimpse of the past we relished in. Ellie is now in a new chapter. If there was a last of us 3, I think it needs to be focused on Ellie slowly becoming Joel, because that is where she is headed. That is the beauty in the story, the subtlety of it all. It leaves the players to interperet, to theorize, to grieve. The game is very reminiscent of the 5 stages of grief.

    Denial: she cant believe Joel is dead and keeps begging him to get up, even after Abby takes that last swing


    Anger: she vows to slowly kill everyone in that room that day


    Bargaining: she begs Abby to take her instead of Tommy Depression: she is torn up inside and depressed at the farm, knowing that she cant leave her past behind her


    Acceptance: she accepts the fact that Joel is dead and theres nothing that can be done and lets Abby go, both of them being just shells of the people they once were, they put an end to the fighting. Ellie then leaves the guitar (her last memory of Joel) in the empty house she came back to. And you can see her leave it all behind.

    She has finally moved on from Joel and is finally ready to become him, and I think we'll see more of Ellie becoming more like Joel if we see a part 3.

    This is an amazing story, it truly captivates the consequences of every character's actions and shows a clear change throughout the story in both Ellie and Abby. Ellie is no longer the loudmouthed fun loving kid from part 1, and no longer the revenge driven woman from part 2. She is Joel.

    Excellent graphics. Better gameplay than in TLoU part I. And i liked stealth this time.
    Some mess with the story, but it was a journey about coming from anger to forgiveness. About loosing all to find inner calm.

It’s not that I don’t like the last of us 2 it’s just like I don’t know I feel the first game had a more realistic story like in the first game the first 3 hours are brutal and you see how time has made Joel who he was and throughout the whole game Ellie breaks him down and he lets her in. In the beginning of the second game you smoke weed, have sex, the death of Joel, and a pregnancy twist from Dina..... like I just feel the first one had more of a grounded story and not like a zombie drama like the walking dead the second one is like. Now I still love the game and seeing Ellie grown up and definitely the death of Joel and even Tommy Made me cry like a baby. I just think that the story is trying to hard to be a drama like those zombie shows and it’s a little off putting after years of playing and crying to the first game.… Expand

    TLOU2 is a notable refinement of every aspect of the first game. The story is an emotional roller coaster, which many cannot stomach (hence the review bombing) but it is a ride worth taking. I’m once again blown away by ND’s masterful use of video game as a medium for artistic beauty.

    If you enjoyed the first games gameplay you will love this as well, not to mention the stellar graphics. While I know alot of people are frustrated with the story I throughly enjoyed it, and I feel the point of The Last of Us is to pull at your heart and this game sure does that. Dont listen to alot of the reveiw bombers and craft your own opinion.

To be frank, I truly believe that, this game requires multiple playthroughs and hours of thought put into the themes of the story before coming to a final review on this game. This is my initial reaction after my first complete playthrough of the story.

    I am going to break down what I think.
    1) The gameplay, visuals, and the world-building in the game is outstanding. Even though the game is mostly linear, it does give the player options to explore and choose their own path in areas like Seattle where you are in charge of a large open map. You can either visit all of them or not. It's up to you. I hope I don't have to explain why TLOU2 might be the best looking game on the PS4. The facial animation and in-game facial moments are really good and it adds to the experience subtly. The enemies are more aware of the surroundings. I played it in the Normal mode and if you can see the enemy, the enemy can see you, just like the real world. The stealth feels satisfying and the dogs bump the difficulty in many areas. I loved it. Even though the gameplay is brutal with its ultra-realistic deaths, I think it fits well withing what they are going for narratively.
    2) The audio and environmental sounds are really well done. Although i would have liked some more of the original tracks from Gustavo especially since this is a 25hr game. But I enjoyed the auditory experience, I just hoped I had more of it.
    3) The UI is similar to TLOU part 1 but the AI is significantly better. See 1
    4) The story is very complex in its own terms. I did have a very powerful emotional reaction at the end of the game. Seeing Abby carry Lev just like Joel carried Ellie at the end of the first game, and Ellie trying to kill Abby brings to the cycle of violence theme, and it hits hard. I was depressed for a whole day at what happened. Do I approve of it?

    Not completely but yes to the most part. I think that the same theme may have been told in a better way. The game is too bleak and depressing and it's not because of the fall of humanity or the need for survival like depicted in the first game but for revenge and hatred. I am not an expert in the human condition but this revenge sometimes didn't bode with me well. But I did understand most of the decisions made by the characters and I think that playing the game the second time will make it even more sense. However, there are major pacing issues especially in the second part when playing as Abby. Meeting Yara and Lev were very nice but how they met after the abrupt cuts, Lev running away on the boat and many hours spent chasing Lev felt like a little drag and could have done better. Of course, the reason for that is to make sure Yara gets killed and to show what violence brings by burning down the island. But the way it was executed was a little bad.
    5) I never thought I will see a resident evil type villain in TLOU2. It just feels so out of place as TLOU was a game grounded in reality and had a hard time believing that in the world of TLOU there can exist such a monster. Of course, I am talking about the one we encounter during Abby's supply run. Overgrown fungal infection over multiple bodies in such a way that their neural connections are linked making it a single organism made of a collective seemed too much for a Cordyceps fungus to manage. Hell! I don't even manage both my hand properly when playing piano and we are talking about 5-10 different bodies being controlled by a parasitic fungus.I wished that the Boss battle never existed.
    6)there are many areas where both infected and humans exist and you can use it against one another. I liked it. I also thought the puzzles are really good. I felt good about myself when solving a couple of them. I loved the idea of safes in the game, it rewarded exploration in a good way.

    The Last of Us 2 is not a perfect game but its a must-play game, according to me. It has a lot of issues but the fact that it made me think for 2 days straight about what happened in the game and its themes proves the fact that it is a thought-provoking game. It does touch on many themes very well. If you are a fan of the first game, I think you won't regret playing the second. Don't expect a time like u played Spiderman. This is TLOU2 its bleak, sad, depressing, and u will be emotionally drained by the end of it. But it's worth it.

People just want a game that has juicy content and story which is just moving from the protagonist's point of view. They can't just blindly complain about a game. Players should know the moral of the story...Think about the story from the perspective of Abby, please.
