    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. How do I feel after playing through The Last of Us Part II? Exhausted, after an emotional roller coaster that immerses you into the world of two very different but also similar protagonists. This is my first meteoritic review and I feel obligated to share my opinion as there is a lot of conflicting information flying around so I hope this helps. First let us address gameplay and graphics as we can get through this very quickly. Stunning, the landscapes and weather help pull you into to this dystopian yet still very beautiful world. As far as gameplay and combat goes, it is leagues above that of the first game and feels extremely well polished. The talent trees and weapon upgrades feel good for the most part, giving you the freedom to choose your playstyle and increase the characters strengths to achieve this. The variety of weapons was also a pleasant surprise. The level of detail is second to none and Naughty Dog should be praised for delivering such an experience.
    Now...the story. I went into this game completely hidden from leaks, spoilers and even trailers. I am a die hard fan of the first game, the characters we grew to love along the way and I can understand people's sadness and anger of losing such a great and loved character mere hours after the start. I have to say that I liked the story a lot, warts and all, let me explain why. I think people forget the world we live in as a character in the Last of Us. This post apocalyptic world has brought out the worst in people (and sometimes the best). Adventuring throughout the world offers extreme danger, yes from the infected but more importantly from the living. Survival has driven people to extremes of depravity and this is only magnified by the lack of any justice in the world. To that end, although it's hard to watch Joel's death, I feel it certainly is not a surprise and although hard to admit, justified after Joel's actions at the end of the first game. I shared Ellie's pain and anger at seeing her father figure die before her and by the end of the game I feel this even more knowing the turbulent times they faced in the years after Salt Lake. I fully understand Abby's motivations, especially as they are so aligned with Ellie's but I wanted revenge, and thus I set out with Ellie to exact this revenge, fully committed to seeing Abby and her friends last breaths. I was very taken aback when suddenly I was following the story from Abby's side. It felt quite jarring as I had worked for hours to find and hurt this person, to now be transported into her body and learn about her, her personality and her past. I certainly was uncomfortable about this switch when it happened but I won't say it is a failure of the game, quite the opposite. I play naughty dog games for the story and this form of narrative, showing a story from both sides, showing that situations are never black and white was a very powerful plot vehicle that certainly toyed with my emotions. I went into this part of the game not liking this character at all but finished the game understanding her a lot more, maybe not liking her as I do other characters but understanding that one painful experience such as the brutal murder of her father completely shaped her life moving forward. Both characters experience a rich world with lots of meaty story and interesting characters. For the most part I liked Yara and Lev and I thought they both helped bring out a side of Abby that she was suppressing while she focused on revenge. The character feels lost after killing Joel, I think focusing on this goal for many years and assuming life will instantly be better after his death is a mistake, one which Ellie also battles with. You discover there are many likeable characters amongst her friends, Owen especially. You get the impression he never really fit in with the WLFs and this had a positive influence on Abby's character. I think we need to talk about fan service. I can use Star Wars as a great example. I liked the latest films but they certainly stop well short of greatness for me and fan service is a big part of that. Creating a story to only appease fans instead of telling a hard, powerful and unforgiving story that is true to the world. I love Joel's character but I too wrestle with his actions at the end of The Last of Us. A choice between saving the world and essentially saving your daughter, how many of us would choose the world? Unfortunately this choice completely shattered lives and I praise Naughty Dog for showing the true ramifications of this decision. Elli's ultimate act of clemency for Abby feels right, both characters are emotionally and physically irreparably damaged and this revenge circle needs to stop. Did I like every action characters took along the way or plot point? No. Did I understand the motivations behind them? Yes. I have been transported into a rich, diverse and unforgiving world and have been shown a story that echos this completely. It was worth every minute.    … Expand

The game struck with its narrative and message, especially the second half of the game. at first, about 1-2 hours of the game, it was uncomfortable to play for Betty, but when they showed her side in more detail, everything fell into place! For the first time, a game revolves not around characters, but around emotions, when an understanding of this brings the game simply becomes unique. The pacing is not as good, however; and the story makes some pretty bold moves that are meant to make you uncomfortable on purpose. I do not believe this game is as good as the first one, overall. Hard storyline that will definitely not make unanimity. I had trouble accepting some parts of it because i loved the first game and its characters, and seeing what happens to them saddened me greatly. ND warned us, it is not a comforting game. They don't send rays of sunshine towars us (well, most of the time, e.g Ellie's birthday), which doesn't mean that i think the second opus is badly written. In fact, the story line (that some are so eager to call pure s*** out of anger due to a major character death) made me reflect and feel as I never had before with a video game. It is a masterpiece. The game is an intense experience, and whether you like it or not is up to you. For my part, i enjoyed the whole thing even if it was a hard journey.… Expand

    Great Game. technic & fascinating innovative Story & Charakter Design - Haters & Fan-Boys gonna cry & hate! Many might not understand the fact, that a good game-story does not have to follow certain "rules" or "expectations".
    The Game sets new scores in emotional storytelling & development of the actions. Besides, the graphics & atmosphere is simply astonishing.

    About 14 hours in and I'm loving it. As a hardcore PC gamer, it's really disappointing there's no one making these sorts of games to this quality on that platform.

    Those who are complaining just understand non-linear events I suppose. They must hate Tarantino films.

    Si bien por muchos años fue esperada la entrega, parece que no fue de total agrado para quienes ven morir a uno de los personajes de la manera más "más estúpida" posible, que según merecía una mejor muerte, igualmente, no es motivo para que cuando sucede eso digan "–¡Qué porquería de juego!". Por cierto, la mayoría de jugadores pone la excusa de "inclusión forzada" también como motivo de que fue una burla, pues bien, se respeta el hecho de que no todos apoyen el movimiento LGBT, pero se nota a leguas su intolerancia haciendo comentarios que ya ofenden, y eso es lo molesto.
    En mi humilde opinión, estoy satisfecho, no puedo decir nada más que me hizo sentir emociones fuertes, me entretuve en conforme iba pasando la historia y si bien no me esperaba muchas cosas, me siento bien, y sé que invertí bien mi tiempo y mi dinero.    … Expand

    Even tho the game is getting all this hate I genuinely liked the story and the message Naughty Dog wanted to transmit. It's hard to make me cry but this game made me cry more than a couple times.

Такое чувство что они хотят что бы история была идеальна ( все поступают логично и все говорят друг с другом ) , но тогда не было бы вообще смысла делать какой либо сюжет, он тупо закончится прямо на начале конфликта , просто из-за того что все объяснили свою позицию , сели в кружочек , взялись за руки и помирились. Почему тогда нетОткровенно не понимаю тех людей которые ругают так сюжет. Такое чувство что они хотят что бы история была идеальна ( все поступают логично и все говорят друг с другом ) , но тогда не было бы вообще смысла делать какой либо сюжет, он тупо закончится прямо на начале конфликта , просто из-за того что все объяснили свою позицию , сели в кружочек , взялись за руки и помирились. Почему тогда нет претензий к сюжету 1-ой части? Там тоже было полно условностей и допущений ( к примеру правительственные войска которые такие плохие и вообще всех стреляют и давно бросили заниматься разработкой лекарства и только истинные демократичные цикады не сидят сложа руки и сражаются со всем вот этим вот, а так же контрабандисты которые в рубашках ходят по зараженным и опасным участкам, да за пару лет бы уже разобрались какие твари куда и как кусают и сделали хорошую защиту, всё же брошено, материала куча ), но только во второй части оказывается что все персонажи стали вести себя не логично! Это какой то горячечный бред. Художественная история - это не реальная жизнь. Здесь куча допущений. ИМХО: Сюжет прекрасно доносит одну мысль, прежде чем что то сделать - хорошо подумай, не надо торопиться, ибо могут быть очень тяжелые последствия, и эти последствия и легли в основу сюжета. И если внимательно проходить игру , а не галопом за первый день пробежать, то отчетливо замечаются переломные моменты в характерах персонажей. НО! Они не роботы и не живут в идеальном мире, за каждым из них груз содеянного и свой собственный опыт. В игре это отчетливо прослеживается и в диалогах и в поступках. И на всё это влияют события которые происходят с персонажами. Единственное чего действительно не хватает так это больше сюжетного времени друзьям Элли и Эбби.
    Концовка в игре тяжелая не потому что её запороли , а потому что персонажи не в один момент приходят к осознанию того что месть это тупиковый путь. А финальная сцена так вообще олицетворяет "рост персонажа над собой". Прошу прощения за такие расплывчатые формулировки , но без спойлеров просто не получается, а я считаю что многим любителям сюжетных игр эту игру нужно пройти самостоятельно и научиться отличать художественное произведение с моралью от своих фантазий на тему постапа.
    PS: Тему ЛГБТ в игре не выпячивают, все сцены к месту и у игры так рейтинг 18+, это априори значит что там секс , кишки и всё такое. А уж про сильных и не зависимых... В сюжете они наломали столько дров , что это скорее должно обидеть женщин , чем вызвать у них гордость. И ещё раз , серия TLOU про взаимодействие обычных выживших в ужасном мире, а не про поход клуба шахматистов начитавшихся книжек по психологии и формальной логике.    … Expand

Made me cry multiple times... it's such an emotional story, with such amazing characters... Don't lsiten to those hating on the game, if you played the first one and loved it, play this one too. Pessoal mais novo quer apenas histórias com destaques heroicos e situações de quase-morte, onde os personagens só se fortalecem com situações de perigo. No caso do jogo, a morte de um dos personagens principais choca, mas é coerente com uma possível realidade apocalíptica.

    Essa galerinha que está achando ruim, em minha opinião, é a mesma que acha que, em um apocalipse zumbi, sairia mantando vários zumbis com pistola, rifle, etc. Mas na verdade, se isso realmente acontecesse, só teriam, malemá, uma faca de churrasco ou um martelo encontrado na caixa de ferramentas do pai.    … Expand

    The game has stunning ghrapichs, intense gameplay and a set of new and familier characters. The story might be a bit to dark for some people and some of the sections with infected are some of the most creepy and nasty things I have ever seen in a video game.

    A truly human story that leaves you questioning the value of love. Just because you didn't enjoy the story, does not necessarily mean it isn't a good one. It was never meant to be fan service, but instead a story that shows life as it truly is—shades of gray rather than simply black or white.

    Большое спасибо, за такую игру. Технологический шедевр,геймплей шикарный,атмосфера тягучая, расчленёнка просто нет слов,деталей куча,а персонажи - они живые, как будто настоящие люди. А финал меня поразил до глубины души,хорошо что я не слушал чужие мнения,а сам прошёл и сформулировал своё. Naughty Dog низкий поклон за такую игру,она явно не для массового потребителя, крепитесь ребята!Большое спасибо, за такую игру.     Good game although they say that it has an agenda but mine does not bring just the beginning and I am really enjoying it because there are shots and horses come out and I like horses.     amazing graphics, gameplay, music and story build. even though I understand where all the user critics are coming from, a game or a story certainly isn't bad because it didn't play out the way you like it to. that aside, I absolutely enjoyed every bit of this experience. my only complaint is, that it offers no multiplayer, apart from that it's a masterpiece

    i loved this game cuz i loved the story. That's sooo good it's my best game in my life FOR ME. And the gameplay, is good, normal. it's not too much different then tlou1 but it's smooth. (FOR ME)

    I knew Joel was going to die since the very first trailer came out, it was the only thing that made sense for Ellie’s character arc moving forward. A lot of the people giving the game bad reviews either didn’t play it and are basing it purely on what they read on the leaks, or are mad that the story didn’t go exactly how they wanted it too. But the thing is, if a game’s story was so easy to guess it would be a pretty boring story. The way Naughty Dog handled this story was nearly perfect. It kept surprising me at every turn. I didn’t always like the way the story went, but I’m pretty sure that that’s the point. You can’t control the outcome of everything in life, you can’t control what other people do, especially in a lawless world like this one.

    Another thing that deserves praise is the way this game humanizes ‘the bad guys’. Everything from Abby’s story to little dialogue between npc’s makes us sympathize a little more with them. They are just trying to survive, just like the people in Jackson, though I personally think the WLF were still kinda bad.

    By making you play as Abby and experiencing her life and her relationships to others, the game makes it clear that not everything in life is black and white. Joel has murdered hundreds of parents, siblings, partners, sons and daughters. He left a trail of blood wherever he went. Everything he’s done was bound to catch up to him sooner or later. And that’s not saying Joel’s actions weren’t justified, in fact I think the Fireflies and Abby’s dad were a bunch of idiots for only running a couple of tests and immediately killing the only hope for a vaccine without properly studying Ellie’s condition and the fungus’ behavior over time. But no one brought that up, instead Joel just massacred them.

    Also, some people seem to be angry about Ellie letting Abby go in the end. But her doing that makes sense. She understands that what Joel did was unforgivable, that by killing Abby’s friends she continued the cycle of hatred. Abby tried to break that cycle by letting them go in Seattle, she even refuses to fight Ellie at first in California. I think that while drowning Abby, Ellie understood two things. One: killing Abby won’t bring Joel back or make her nightmares stop, only she can do that by herself. And two: if she kills Abby she would have to kill Lev too, otherwise he would hunt her and the cycle of hatred and revenge would go on and on. It was the same choice that Kratos failed to do at the end of God of War. By letting Abby go Ellie could truly move on to a happier life.

    By the way, every single flashback with Joel made extremely emotional, never before has any piece of media made me feel so much loss and sorrow. By the time the end credits rolled I was a sobbing mess. And when I finally managed to calm down they play that cover duet with Joel and Ellie. That was simultaneously a beautiful thing and a dick move. After that I spent around 20 minutes crying like a baby.

    All in all, The Last of Us Part 2 is a beautiful game with a brilliant story, magnificent visuals, and amazing gameplay. It is definitely my favorite game ever made. I 120% recommended playing it.    … Expand

    I totally LOVE this game,for me it even changed the perspective on Bioshock INFINITE which was the best game I ever played,but this,THIS is ART!!!! It gives you all of the feelings possible and the graphics,no words,just the best!

A lot of people distaste this game only because they are comfortable with what they are familiar with—Joel and Ellie. Joel had countless sins to pay for, and he never thought to atone for them. What do you think the cost is for killing hundreds of people... for actually nothing? The original goal in TLOU1 was to get Ellie to where she needed to go. period. Yet so many people are upset with Ellie for killing people for “no reason” in TLOU2 without remembering Joel did the exact. Same. Thing. I read. I read a lot of other opinions because not only mine matters and it comes to show that there is always a price to pay when it comes to vengeance. Nothing comes for free, and both experiences that. While playing as Ellie, you see her take on this obsession, and lose herself throughout the gameplay. This is the most crisp version of character development I’ve ever seen. Even when choking people out, go back and listen to how both Ellie and Abby talks to them. ND didn’t put that in coincidently. Character development to some people is like going from bad to good, but it can always be reversed. This game does it’s justice by showing you antiparallel versions of character development. Abby *attempting* to atone for her sins, while Ellie deluges into them. It’s heartbreaking to know what happens to Joel and Ellie, don’t get me wrong. PLEASE don’t get me wrong. Joel had a parental side that I was at times jealous towards. The most loving parental figures in gaming. But it’s clear narrative of what happens when you have bloodlust. I didn’t know why we had to play as Abby until you put yourself in her world. A lot of TLOU fan base lacks empathy. Simple. If you didn’t you’d understand at least to an extent what Abby was feeling and what she did it for. And of course, she paid her price. She lost her friends, a safe place to stay, her status, and even the original love of her life (even though she already kind of lost him). She lost everything finding Joel. And Ellie? Oh man, if she stayed at the farm, karma could’ve had its way... no? By this, I mean, if Ellie would have stayed at the farm with Dina and JJ, Abby for a fact would have been dead. Dried up at the pillars. In a contrasting idea, Ellie got a hell of a short end of the stick. The loss of her ability to efficiently play the guitar?Trauma? PTSD? Of course, I think my own opinion has a flaw because how do you get over PTSD without any actual help? Ellie thought that the only way to get over this was to finish the job. Who am I to say she wouldn’t have been right? Hell, it might or might not’ve fixed her problems — but the fact of the matter still remains. Because of Ellie’s obsession towards Abby, even to the point of saying Abby's name as a mantra, it showed the path of destruction of not trusting the universe. Not believing Abby will get what she’ll get. Ellie ended up saving Abby’s life which is the complete opposite of the original job. By going back for Abby, she lost her family, and her primary comfort for remembering Joel...the guitar (which comes back prominently thru the game as a reminder).As said before, and I’ll say it again; the game shows two different points of vengeance. One of obsession (Ellie), and one of atonement(Abby). We HATE to see a familiar face to be the one of obsession, but not everything is all rainbows. People died because of them. Ellie chose to go after Abby AGAIN after being spared. That’s obsession. Clear as day. Abby chose to not fight Ellie until she had to because it was not. Her. Place. Abby chose to help those kids because she felt like she had to atone for something. Both Ellie and Abby had someone pregnant in their loves which is a sign of a new life. A new beginning. Ellie killed one... while Abby spared the other (but all thanks to Lev. Aka, Abby’s ATONEMENT. If not for Lev, Abby’s story would be much different. Lev is her alibi for change, and a need to right the wrong. Where is Ellie’s?).

    And tommy? boy did he also have to pay. Not only did he become disabled, but he lost his whole wife. Who said no one paid? People that didn’t play a direct role (on either Ellie or Abby’s side) ended up dead or hurt/scarred. Those two made it more than about them. And that was their flaw. And this is why ignorance is bliss.

    All in all, i like to try to apply these things into everyday life. Any source of literature, or entertainment has its ways to reaching to people. You guys really just think people make stuff for no reason? Without a ‘lesson’ to be learned or anything? Karma will get it’s peace. Vengeance will get you what you want, but it’ll get you as well. And finally,

The gameplay is never boring while we are playing and the animations are on a whole new level with a massive variety of killing, dying, hitting, shooting, dodging animations. The prone factor is an awesome added feature that helps in many aspects. The sound of every single weapon, music, background sound, explosions, crafting, weapon upgrades, item pick up, infected, ellie's steps on the floor, everything that is related to sound is just flawless and are for the most part really pleasurous to hear giving that full immersion into the game giving us a sound orgasm like feeling. The wide variety of weapons is incredible and larger compared to the first game and we get to experience different weapons with ellie and abby wich is awesome since we get to see that both of them really aren't that much alike when it comes to fighting style and the way they choose to approach the enemy. while I played with ellie i liked to go for a more stealthy approach while with abby I most of the times was the first one shooting my shots and making noise. It's interesting to see that the two characters have different fighting styles according to theyr physical strength and battle experience. Graphics wise there is nothing to complain about it is by far the All PS4 can give and it is amazing to see how much attention to the details Naughty Dog payed because it is incredibly well done. When u shoot enemies or stab them, when you get close to a tree or a wall, the psysics of the ropes and eletric cables, the snow and the clothes. Now for the facial expressions, by far the best ones so far. When u look down with abby on a high place you can tell by her face that she is terrified of heights, the face ellie makes while stabing the enemy,or even when you get shot. It is just incredible what they managed to achieve with the face expressions. Now for the story. I wouldn't say it is bad. I actually think it is really good (this is my opinion, if you didn't like it just don't judge). I think the gore like death of Joel was a litle soon but we get those flashbacks that maded me cry A LOT. As for Ellie's part I have nothing bad to say. The way the story is told up to that part is amazing. Then comes abby. I'm like ok imma have to play as abby, whatever. I understand that with that Naughty Dog is trying to make us see the two sides of the coin and it really makes us think. I think that in terms of environments abby's part was actually much better than Ellie's beacuse while in ellie's part we see much green and plants, even though it is amzingly detailed, it is pretty much the same. But in Abby's part we even get to go to the top of those super tall buildings and go through those amazing bridges. Now my issue with abby isn't the character itself because she did what she did and she had her reasons...That is understandable she did the same ellie did, to seek revenge. But I just think that Naughty Dog made us play TOO MUCH with abby, there were parts that could have not been shown like abby and owen's sex scene and when abby comes back after that night when u go back to yara and lev you could have just taken us to them but ok. According to the end of the game, I think it is very well done. She doesn't get her revenge BUT like, look at what they did to each other, both ellie and abby have lost so many things because of each other. I loved and that last flashback between ellie and joel just killed me. i loved it. So all in all, I think it is a spectacular game, animation and graphics wise it is amazing. The sounds are the best and the story in my opinion wasnt as bad as people say it was. I wouldn't say I liked TLOU PART II better than TLOU 1 but TLOU PART 2 sure was an incredible game with massive achievements. I give it a solid 9/10… Expand

Incredible intertwining story with a revenge story from two characters, not fully understanding each other’s motives, abbys father being killed by Joel and preventing a cure, and Ellie’s ‘parent’ being murdered with her knowing why only until the end she realises and resulting in her letting Abby go, had me questioning which one I’m supposed to care about which was difficult as they each had the moral driven reasons. was not disappointed with not one bit of the game, each gun fight, encounter cutscene had me catching my breath at the end of it. I find it hard to believe so many people managed to finish a 20 hour game in less than a day. Don't get me wrong, there are criticisms to be made with the game, but most of them are hidden behind 0/10 reviews submitted by people that haven't even finished the game, have only reached a certain point, and even some by people who don't have the game and only read the leaks. If you take a look at the reviews on the Last Of Us 2's store page, where you actually have to own the game to review, you can see a major difference.

    Overall, I found the experience of Last of Us 2 enjoyable. The graphics were gorgeous, and was every bit the technical masterpiece that we had been promised. It looked beautiful and ran smoothly, even on the original PS4. The mocap technology was insane, and the acting on show here was immersive. I really have to give credit to the actors here, they did such a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life.

    The gameplay was similar to the first game, mostly stealth mixed with tense moments and adrenaline filled combat. The infected and clickers are even more terrifying than usual, and the game does a good job of getting your heart going with a good mix of scares and tension. The combat animations have been improved, which makes the combat feel more fluid and overall more enjoyable.

    As for the story... I have mixed feelings on this one, but that doesn't mean the story was bad. Certainly not to warrant a 0/10. Obviously, after Joel was killed, I was left feeling angry and saddened as most were. From that point, I could tell the story was going to be one of revenge. However, the story then begins to split off a bit in an attempt to change your perspective, which I think was a bit of a hit and miss for some. At first, I wasn't a fan of the change, but it kept me invested in the story and near the end, I didn't know how I was feeling. Once I had reached the ending, i was left feeling kind of unsatisfied and lost. A part of me feels like Naughty Dog wanted to leave players feeling that way. I think they made a big risk that for some, was not well received.

    However, what it all comes down to is whether I think the experience I got from The Last Of Us 2 was worth spending my money on. For me, yes it was. Did the game managed to evoke emotions out of me? Yes. Did it give me happy moments? Sad Moments? Heart wrenching moments? Moments that made me question myself? Question the characters and their motives? Made me disgusted with myself? Yes to all. And to me, that's what makes a good story, especially a Naughty Dog story.
    I was glad to have enjoyed this experience, and I think the ending is one that I need to sit on for a while to see how I truly feel.    … Expand

    The story is very captivating and honestly, I found it a bit cliché because it involved "revenge", which was already somewhat predictable. I didn't expect Joel to die anytime soon, like early in the game.
    The water, the fire, the trees, the leaves and the setting of each scene are so carefully detailed that it makes us think:
    "IF THIS IS SO, HOW WILL THE NEXT GENERATION OF CONSOLES BE?"
    You see? It scares how realistic it is.
    So far, there have only been 3 bugs with me that made me die during the campaign, 3 bugs that were really funny.
    Another and unique moment, when the reflections in the mirrors failed, but that was it the game is perfect and surpasses RDR 2 in many ways!
    To see that some idiot users are purposely giving low marks because the game makes Ellie a Lesbian and all this story of love triangle and love dramas.
    Actually, **** Ellie's sexual orientation, for me, go be happy! I don't care about that, this game deserves the title of Game of the Year!    … Expand

    There is a difference between being a bad game and hating the game. I personally hated the game because I experienced so many emotions while playing it. That does not mean it’s a bad game. This game is a solid 9/10 in my book.

    It will kick you in the stomach and tell you a story of vengeance and redemption: you will love it at the beginning, you will hate it in the middle and you will cry at the end!
    That's not what you expect: that's what you need! Forget all you know about TLOU and embrace the story: CAPOALVORO

    Wow. It is a gut punch emotionally. I would describe in a way of a story as you would the Walking Dead when they started to kill beloved characters. Great episodes. This is kinda like that. It's a horror game. What do you expect? The gameplay is very strong. The graphics are some of the best. The story might not be for everyone. It's more shocker and gore like a horror movie. I'm anWow.     It's a masterpiece, best story driven game ever. You really feel the weight of all the characters decision's and can sympathize with all of them. The game shows you there's no heros or villains and the no one wins in the circle of revenge.

I'll say what everyone already knows: graphics, character models, environmental expansion and design, dialogue, weapons, combat, stealth, and general gameplay are all incredible. Naughty Dog has once again gone above and beyond to show what they're capable of. I'm not the least bit disappointed in any one of these things.

    I also loved the story and the writing. I think Joel's death, one aspect of the story a lot of people had/have a problem with, was inevitable and, quite frankly, not undeserved. That's not to say anyone deserves to have somebody play golf with their head, just that he had it ("it" meaning death) coming. I love him as much as I love Ellie; they're my two favorite characters in video games and I live for their dynamic in the first game. But he killed so many, indiscriminately and often brutally.

    After an entire game of killing hunters, soldiers, and cannibals (a bit of torture included), Joel massacred a hospital of Fireflies, killed a surgeon, shot an unarmed Marlene, and robbed the world of a possible cure. Yes, attaining that cure meant Ellie's death, but we know and Joel knew that she would want them to do it, even had she known the consequence. The second game only confirms this for us.

    Joel admitted to Ellie that he was once "on the other side," meaning he was a hunter. At one point, he was so bad his own brother had to abandon him, and we know Tommy's no Mother Teresa himself. Joel had it coming.

    And to those who think this game is "disrespectful" to him and his memory: the entire story is Ellie avenging him, despite his misdeeds and lies. We see her love for him shine through in dialogue and flashbacks and especially in her music, despite the fact that he lied to her about the Fireflies. Despite the fact that she eventually found out the truth. She misses him with every fiber of her being, just like we do.

    The only reason I've chosen to give this game a 9/10 instead of a 10/10? Abby. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike her. I sympathize with her (although not nearly as much as I sympathize with Ellie or Joel) and I can see things from her perspective and understand why she did what she did. But I still didn't want to play her for so long. Stepping into her shoes here and there would have been fine, like it was in the beginning, but playing the latter half of the game as her is...questionable.

    The gameplay and dialogue and characterization are still immaculate as we play as Abby. I liked meeting her friends, the nameless faces who were there with her as she killed Joel. I liked getting to know them as people and seeing her in a new light as her loyal companions. But I'd gotten so used to being with Ellie...it just felt wrong. In more ways than one. I didn't want to leave Ellie behind for anyone else, and doing so for the woman who killed Joel made it feel even more out of place.

    Still, I loved the game, and I will be replaying it soon and recommending it to friends and family. I'd also strongly recommend it to anyone who happens to read this.    … Expand

Joel dying was greeting but has corrupted fan opinions and people mainly hate this game through just the spoilers without actually knowing anything although anyone i know who has actually played the game through the whole thing will have also agreed that this game is close to perfect… Expand

    The game is good. It takes some risks, and while I don't think people need to be on board with all of them, it is a bummer to see so many people dismissing the game because it didn't go the way they thought or wanted it to go. There is a lot of value here in terms of level design, game design, and story, and while I'd agree that this game is not a 10/10, that doesn't mean it is worthless.

    The game is the same about killing zombies and people, the buildings and map are better, i dont know why people complain.

    Great game play. Story is a roller coaster for your emotions. There are some punch to the gut moments. The ending isn't my cup of tea, but I respect that story stays true to the grim reality of the Last of Us world.

    Pretty good game graphics and everything. The story is good but I think the death of Joel would a little bit more greater you know more heroic but in the end it is a pretty decent game

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
