This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For me, it started off at an 8. Halfway through the game it dropped down to a 5, crawled back up to a 6 and right up until the end it stayed there. It ended up a 10. I can't stop thinking about the ending.

It starts out amazing. (Killings included) it was a GREAT move. It takes a nosedive halfway through the game though, and it took me the rest of the game to realize it's narrative function. It's not plain cut and dry, it's a rollercoaster.

So gameplay: It's awesome, just as much as the first game. There are parts of which I would've liked to see way more of (like the open-world bit, turns out it's the only one) and it has some good variations on the old formula throughout the game. It can get pretty tedious after a while though, and due to some narrative choices, it takes a whole lot getting used to halfway through the game.

So the story. As you might have heard it's about revenge. But it actually isn't. It's about the feeling, the gnawing of it, the **** you go through for it, the guilt that sticks, how tiring it is. how it eats you up.

    SPOILERS:
The game does not have a pay-off in a general sense, it's not about getting what you want, it's about finding out that whatever you wanted, isn't what you want anymore. it's about being free from whatever it was that you held on to. The game's boring parts, the tediousness, the endless repetition, combined with genuinely great moments and storytelling, makes for a great platform to a pay-off that no game has ever dared to give.

Naughty Dog's approach is daring, ballsy, hard-fought. It's not a game for everyone because it's not traditional in most senses. It's subtle, it's rough, it's messy and it's a puzzle that fits way too damn well together.

So what I'm trying to say is: It's great, it might not be your cup of tea and that's fine. But the storytelling is amazing. One of the reasons that you might not like it, is because you're not used to the way it's been told. You'd be wrong to assume it's a Hollywood movie covered in ultra-violence.
It's the closest thing to a AAA title with art-house tendencies.

To me, it's one of the first games ever that knows how to manage storytelling within games as a medium in such a sense, that it elevates the medium instead of just copying movies.

This post probably will get buried because of disagreement, but I think it needed to be said. Naughty Dog knows what it's doing and does an amazing job. Don't knock what you don't understand. You don't have to like the game :) I'm heavily impressed and can't wait for part 3.

The Last of Us 2 has probably been one of the most polarizing games of the last decade. Naughty Dog takes a risk with their story telling in this latest installment of their post-apocalyptic IP. Gone are the formulaic yet entertaining stories as seen with the Uncharted series; no, in this sequel we get to explore the stages of grief one goes through when encountered with a tragic loss, and the effects they have on themselves and their loved ones.

    Brief Description:

Ellie’s story in The Last of Us 2 is one of grueling pain, suffering, and ultimately revenge. As her journey progresses, her insatiable lust for revenge grows stronger, throwing away her humanity with each life she takes. We’re also introduced to the character Abby, whose journey echoes Ellie’s. Both characters have experienced a lot in this unforgiving world, and ultimately it’s up to the player to figure out the right and wrong of the actions made by the two, if this is even possible. The moral ambiguity presented in this story makes it difficult to root for a hero, but this is the way Naughty Dog challenges you to view it, and form your own opinions about the story they told. Story:

While I enjoyed the 25 hours I put into this game , I did a couple issues which prevented me from giving it a higher score. The story on paper is very interesting, however translating it to a game can be difficult. While I appreciate the parallels the game made with flashbacks for both Ellie and Abby; the execution and timing interrupted the flow of the narrative. The pacing of the game as a whole suffered due to the inclusion of the scenes, albeit they were necessary to flesh out the characters and revisit old relationships. Gameplay/Visuals: The gameplay was very much similar to the original game; however, it’s clear that the developers took the time to perfect this gameplay loop and make it as enjoyable as possible. Visually the game is stunning, and running on my old PS4 still manages to hold a constant and smooth 30 FPS. No issues to be had here. In addition, the fan noise produced by my OG PS4 was not as bad as I initially had thought it would be. Much quieter when compared to other taxing games such as God of War, and AC Odyssey. It’s worth noting that I had cleaned my PS4 recently, and replaced the thermal paste (may have helped somewhat).

    Wrapping Up:

Overall, this game does a lot of things right. If you go into it with an open mind, a decent understanding of empathy and other basic human emotions, you’re in store for a masterful piece of storytelling.

Bold, challenging & thought-provoking. Last of Us Part 2 doesn't care about providing you with a fun fan service sequel and goes in places that some fans of the original may dislike.
I suggest anyone just passing through here, ignore the hate, ignore the positivity, you owe it to yourself to play it and make up your own mind.

The Last of Us 2 set out to ask one question: "Why is your violence more justified than mine?" and as I saw the credits roll I came to realize that everyone at NaughtyDog did a stellar job at answering it.

This game isn't just a great piece of entertainment, it's a necessary one.
No game is perfect but aside some pacing and side content issues this one is very close to it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You can tell from reading most of the negative reviews that they are driven by a certain agenda (most obviously didn't play the game and just read up facts from the Wikipedia entry). They try to make this not too obvious by constructing fake arguments for their negative downvotes ("This game has plot holes... the character design is terrible...") Quite telling by the comments that claim Abby to be the Transgender character of the game... Yeah. Surprise. She isn't.
By all means TLOU2 is not a perfect game (it has some slog in the middle and could have been streamlined). But what it is, is still an amazing achievement. Character design, the level of detail, the intelligence of the AI - that's all top notch and unprecedented until now (RDR2 comes close second). As for the story: What other way could there have been? What did people expect? The further adventures of Joel and Ellie? A retreat of the same story - just with better graphics? The first game was based around "the things you do for love". The second takes this sentiment and turns it around. It is "the things you do out of hate". And - at least for me - it worked. It turned Abby from Ellie's Nemesis and a brute killer into a person that you can actually root for (at least understand her motives).
Of course, if you want your stories not challenging and clean cut, this is probably not for you. TLOU2 follows more in the vain of "Game of Thrones". And people complaining were probably also wishing that the latter was Ned Stark vs. Ice Zombies.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I see all the people saying that they hate playing as Abby and they despise her. I understand them, she killed Joel in a horrible way, like a monster. I wasn't thrilled to play as Abby also and I was very mad at her and wanted to see Ellie kill her brutally, the same way she did to Joel,
but when you get to know her and listen to her story and her perspective of the world it makes you empathize with her. Because Joel killed two things for her 1) Her dad (in a very brutal way, I believe that he could just push him away or knock him out, and not shove a syringe down his throat) 2) Any hope for a vaccine/cure for the infection, and hope for a better world, a saved world.
All that just so he won't lose Ellie, which, became like a daughter for him. I understand why he did it but I really didn't agree with it. So I can understand Abby, not agree or justify her actions, but understand them. This game is way more complex then good-evil/wrong-right/Villain-hero
I think its a beautiful game and it has a really awesome gameplay mechanics and overall very fun game to play and get into it. I'm not giving it 10/10 because It failed to connect me to the characters and really empathize with them as the first one did. And I didn't get emotional with this game like the first game. I believe that many of the deaths in this game were not dealt with, and you didn't feel anything for them because the player didn't show any emotion to their death (Manny/Jessie ) and just forgot about them. Unlike the first game, Tess's death does have an impact on Joel's and Ellie's journey. Maybe not a huge one, but they don't just brush it away, they tend to it and Ellie tries to talk about it. I think that the meaning and impact of death were lacked in the second game. Other than that its a beautiful and amazing game. 9/10

i loved this game from start to finish. First of all, the game-play is extraordinary. The stealth mechanics blew my mind. I am glad they fixed the bow aiming system. The visuals are breathtaking and I couldn't stop using the photo mode to capture all my favorite moments.

The story took us deeper into this post apocalyptic world. i really wanted more exploration of this world that naughty dog had created in part 1. I am glad I got to see that. The story-line is definitely darker, more brutal and unpredictable. I am that this game took me on a different path. It made me question my decisions. Whatever steps I took I felt i was synced with the character I was playing because I understood where they were coming from.

In the end I will say, I was satisfied and in the need for more. It's an original story. It's not based on a book or anything. It was made from scratch. That eliminates the element of predictability. I can't wait for Part III. The story can be summed by one of the best dialogues in gaming history, "Revenge is a fools game" - Arthur Morgan.

As a player, I've never been so excited to finish a game to see how it ends, but at the same time, as the final approaches, I get more and more sentimental and sad. Emotional chaos is wanted from a plot point of view. Overall, a very good job of Naughty Dog as they manage to convey feelings in this game.

The plot idea in this game, paired with the breathtaking setting, the ingeniously used zombies, and the perfectly realistic dialogues and facial expressions, really inspired me from the first moment in the game. There is no comparable story I played with similar plot twists so far.

It begins with a scene with Tommy, the brother of Joel, and Joel himself. The dialog is a minimalist hint where the journey could lead to plot-wise.

The creators shed light from other perspectives on Joels decision to rescue Ellie from the Firefly researchers. It was already clear in the first TLOU that due to his previous history, Joel might have acted selfishly. All shades of gray will be needed to explore the good and the bad within TLOU2.

It is developing a masterful drama, which grabbed me immediately. The ultra-realistic dialogues mentioned above are an important point. Every, and I mean every spoken sentence makes sense and is on point. It's bizarre how good the story is advanced by the cutscenes. A grand manifesto is revealed to the player the further he follows this story, which also has the best facial animations in the whole PS4 game history.
In one sentence: The most human game ever for the PS4.

In a game that is also told by flashbacks, I always had the feeling that I was already or very close to the finale and was still more fascinated that the story continued elegantly. And if you think you are finished, you are not finished. And when you think you're at the end, it goes on;). Loved all the twists.

The design that is the all-around depressing mood, especially in buildings contaminated with spores, is just top-notch. My request, take your time to explore the area and let the scenery affect you here and there. Worth it. Rarely has a game brought the mood and the environment or landscape so well into harmony.

Unlike Uncharted, TLOU2 takes itself completely seriously. It's a cinematic drama through and through. So it is actually clear that the characters are not equipped with adventurous moves or weapons. Everything is perfectly reduced, the skills of the characters fit very well into the setting.

The choice of skills and combat items are well thought out. Sneaking and shooting must be skillfully used to withstand larger waves of opponents. Every now and then you get a mostly nice introduction in a very well built-in tutorial. Over time, the fighting techniques should be mastered so that the more difficult opponents can be stopped at battlefields. To put it simply, there are only three game mechanics: Stealth - Fight - Explore.

Most sections are perfectly balanced. It always remains breathtakingly exciting. The gameplay is ideal for perfectionists because, with a little practice, the character can be moved damn realistic creeping, crawling, running, throwing, hitting and shooting across the field, so that everything looks like an action-packed stealth film. The movements especially during the fight, the change between weapons and the many possibilities to use hiding places and cover give the combat system a big variation. I really enjoyed facing all kinds of opponents in combat.

Graphics, lighting, animations both facial and skeletal are all on point some of the best in the industry. Pacing suffers at times due to the huge duration of the game being 25 hours for most playstyles it could be easly cut down to 18 hours and still be ok. For the story I don't really get why people are so angry, review bombing, harassing actors and directors alike. It's just stupid and only showcases how immature we are as a community. For the story the idea of the cyrcle of violence can be found in every aspect of every character Abby's and Ellie's revenge how much they have lost in the process and how every action further drives them down a hole. Also for a game who handles so many characters it did and honorable job Lev being a great example for a sidecharacter that I genuinely cared. The idea of violence perfectly translates to the gameplay with some of the most raw and brutal combat you've seen in a video game. You can feel the impact in every hit and the pierce in every bullet and the carnage that the player can do. The atmosphere is also so well put, it never fails to evoke a feel of danger and hopelessness paired with some of the most jaw-dropping art direction. The only thing that the game really suffers is meaningful exploration, scrapping for supplies is ok but after the first few hours it feels repetetive. Instead of safes with more loot you could place artifacts that can trigger flashbacks of Joel and Ellie, that I think would modivate more players to search the environments. Overall the more I think about it the more I love it. I don't support the idea that you have to top the first game or give any fun service if it's the kind of story you want to tell. All the people at naughty dog believed in that story and I can respect that and I can also respect every one who played the game and didn't liked it. All an all I enjoyed the game and I applaud naughty dog for being bold with their vision.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is their story, not yours. Simple as that. Everyone is trying to suggest how the story should have been and how it should have ended but it isn't yours to tell. The world they live in is unforgiving and does not give chances to say goodbyes all the time and anyone could die at any moment, including the main characters which gives it the aspect of realism and logic to be honest. Even if I hated what happened to Joel, it still made sense that 25 years of his life after the outbreak was full of killings and murders that surely had to come back around somehow.

As the story goes, I found it to be very sensible for me. Again, no one is safe in that world and every action will have its consequences and that's why I get it, especially when I was introduced to the full story and the different perspective of the tale and letting me understand why exactly what happened has happened. Even though my feelings changed from the first scenes and the last ones towards certain characters, I was satisfied all the way and I couldn't see a different ending that will make sense.

But what was annoying for me a little bit is the pacing and going back and forth in the story which made me pay less attention to the order of the story.

As for the game play, visuals & graphics, voice acting, motion capture, soundtracks, sound design, level design and the littlest of the details; all I can say that they are all 10/10 and really one of the best graphics and sounds I have ever seen and heard in a video game so far. Game play was so fun and intense at the same time especially the stealth.

Thank you Naught Dog for that masterpiece.

Main characters in the first half of the game had poor chemistry. Their interactions felt forced and unnatural. Additionally, the "we shared a kiss last night so that's enough for me to follow you to a deadly adventure, while being all sugar and rainbows, despite you having faced one of the most dramatic events of your life" narrative is way below Naughty Dog standards of storytelling. The rest of the story was as good as expected, though not better as expected. Gameplay innovations and improvements, and also new things in general were practically non-existent; which kind of justifies the "part ii" of the title, since it was not a sequel, just a continuation of the first game. Besides those flaws it's still my favourite game I've played this year so far. Expand

A story full of relatable characters with a good ending that is not supposed to please the majority of the people, but to do what is supposed to do: tell a story. And in my honest opinion a great story. Positively adding the graphics and the stable gameplay, this just is the last real gem we'll see on the PS4.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I totally understand why lots of people dislike the game. Just like many, when I was playing it through and it switched to Abby, I had a very sour view of it all. Some, as well as myself, regard the first Last of Us game as the one of the best played. In the first game, we fell in love with the characters and especially the chemistry between both Joel and Ellie. And like a massive punch in the gut, we had to watch Joel suddenly seem out of character in helping Abby and was pummeled with a golf club in the first two-three hours of the game. I was distraught and utterly disappointed. However throughout TLOU2, it made me feel. It was an experience where I was in the shoes of both Ellie and Abby. With everything the game illustrated about the revenge cycle, it made me realize as much as I wanted Ellie to kill Abby ... it would’ve made no difference. The last fight between both Ellie and Abby made me feel extremely uncomfortable, and I was finally able to see Ellie was absolutely entrenched in her own guilt of losing Joel through the whole journey. Right when Ellie was about to start up her father-daughter relationship with Joel again, Joel murdered the next day. To this, the utilization of the central song (“If I ever were to lose you ...”) almost wraps the whole journey of Ellie’s together. In the final moments of the game, I was able to feel how lost and empty Ellie must have felt. Sure. It wasn’t an experience I was expecting. Initially, it wasn’t one I was enjoying either. I would’ve instantly loved it if the game went as I expected. But, happily ever after was never what TLOU was about. Though we fell in love with Joel and Ellie, the first game made us oblivious to what was happening outside of a certain scope. Seeing into Abby’s story was a slap in the face. But for me, it was almost needed in order to understand the world outside of Ellie and Joel’s relationship. Most of us agree that the visuals and the game mechanics were stunning. And props to Naughty Dog for all the accessibility options. I rated it a 10 because I’ve never had such an experience with a game before. It’s a bitter game but it’s one where I really understood and soberly felt what Ellie was going through. Expand

From the first second I loved playing it. The graphics are **** awesome. The Characters look like real people.
Yeah, it sucks that Joel had to die, but to me it didn't come as a surprise. From the first trailer I thought he would be dead. So, it was a story of revenge and, who is the bad guy in this? Abby for killing him? Or Joel for killing her dad an saving Ellie, but to what price? Ellie and Thommy both lost their wives, and for what? Revenge, But Joel is still dead. And Jesse. And so many more people. So, naughty dog told us a story about what violence can do. And in the End Ellie is all alone, the thing she most feared....

I pray for a third game, the story is not over, abd I pray for our Ellie to get her girl and son back.

Thx Naughty dog for the best story I have ever played.

This game is incredible, the characters and the story are of incredible complexity, so complex that this is a story with no sides there are no villains or heroes in The Last of Us 2, sure everybody likes Ellie and Joel but but Joel is not an innocent soul in the Last of Us, he kills and tortures people with no remorse or regret even people that didn’t deserve it, in The Last of Us 2 Ellie murders countless people in order to kill one person, while Abby did kill Joel, for the entirety of her gameplay she is risking her life to save others, I think that The Last of Us 2 is a story about consequences, Abby loses all her friends and the love of her life for killing Joel, Joel loses his life for murdering countless people and Ellie loses all she had forgoing after someone that spared her twice, I’m only 14 years old and understood this game a lot better than a bunch of adults that think that every story has a happy ending. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the game. Character interaction was fluid and realistic. Graphics look amazing. Joel's death was beautifully done. Which I know a lot of people disagree with but hear me out. Narratively Joel had done as much as he could and to kill him off in such a "cruel" and realistic way was a good motivator not only for the characters in the game but also for the player who had spent so much playing as Joel in the first game. And some people argue that the way he died was dumb. Joel wouldn't reveal who he was. He's too smart for that. But that only works as a problem if no time had passed for there to be growth and change for Joel. We see through flash backs that Joel has changed as a character. He is more trusting of people and works with them better. Before he would have likely left Abby to her fate and moved on but he saved her. They obviously deal with other groups so introductions are normal for Joel and this group. His death is realistic and works very well narratively and to say otherwise is just incredibly ignorant of how people and stories operate. Sure, have gripes and opinions on how it could've been better but to say "I'm not playing the game because Joel died". That's dumb and if you're not ready to play a game with depth then why are you playing Last of us at all? Go back to playing Mario or some **** Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Despite all the disappointment and bad feelings that have come out in response to this game, it's still one of the best experiences I've ever received from Naughty Dog/gaming in general. I watched the leaks before playing (had my best friend watch too) and we were even more excited to play. My first playthrough was literally all over the place, but replaying the game on Survivor+ is definitely worth a shot. Enemy AIs are aggressive, sneaky, and not blind. On having an "open mind" and being a huge fan of the first game, I figured that I would enjoy the story regardless of how it turned out. The gameplay and graphics were enough to be excited about alone. The best review for this game I've heard went along the lines of, "0/10 for making us smoke the Devil's lettuce, 10/10 for letting us punch sh*t as Abby."

Seriously, I ended up loving the story and characters more than I expected, especially the "unlikable" ones/parts. Even from the leaks, I was able to sympathize with Abby's motivations and actions. She kills for survival and revenge just as much as any other badass character in their world. I immediately understood why Joel had to die. Now, I may have also gotten really drunk to the point where I was throwing up/having flashbacks of Joel's death like Ellie (which, funnily enough, directly prevented me from writing this review sooner; better that I wrote this sober ig), but my point is, the impact of Joel's death is seen and felt clearly through this game's general reception. It's quite depressing and upsetting. I don't want to insult his character more than it has already been, but Joel wasn't a good person for all that he did in the first game. He took away Ellie's choice and he would do so again. He was just like Abby for many years after the outbreak too. Abby becomes like Joel (him being initially reluctant to protect Ellie) when she decides to protect Yara and Lev , who deserve much more love. You teach them to like dogs, they help you confront your fear of heights, and Yara gets a second chance to live which allows her to kill Isaac, cleverly concluding the WLF-Seraphite conflict. Lev is practically Ellie from the first game (and, uh, trans pride ;3 maybe the TLoU3 will be a transitioning journey heh).
They get a second chance, but not without suffering some consequence. Joel dies for wiping out the Fireflies, Lev loses his mother and sister, Abby loses everyone and is enslaved for months before being saved by Ellie just to receive more abuse. Ellie loses her left ring and pinky fingers as a consequence for her revenge quest, tragically making her unable to play guitar the same as she once could. This game also has amazing set pieces, some of the best in gaming.

Ultimately, I can't imagine a stronger motivation for a revenge story than Joel. You get the feeling early on that your actions and everyone else's are morally ambiguous. Who can say that someone or something is morally right or wrong when our story revolves around brutally killing other survivors just like us? The Last of Us Part 2 is not it's predecessor and it shouldn't be, though it does expand upon everything that the first game was and I'm glad that this story got to be told and that they didn't end it at Part 1. At the same time, I do feel bad for the people let down by this game, but come on guys, it's at least a 7/10 lol.

It is the kind of game that is a must-play if you own a Ps4. Graphics are amazing and realistic, gameplay mechanics have been updated and upgraded to deliver a truly addictive game experience.

The story is dramatic and heart felted, people were actually not ready for it. And the game does a fine job using that. You will feel a wide variety of emotions during the game, from hate, love, hope, despair, sadness and even frustration. But it's this emotional rollercoaster that makes the storytelling stand out. Maybe you won’t feel so good bu playing a certain character in the game and the things the forces you to do, but don’t lose the point. It is not about you, it is about the world this characters inhabit and their relationships.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a MUST play video game, it is technically perfect, visually stunning, the sound was breathtaking, music just right, and one of the best stories I have ever played.

Yes, this is not the popular opinion, and yes, the game is very polarizing, but yourself a favor and just play the game and build your own opinion as to if you're trying to decide if you want to get the game based on user reviews do it based on those that have substance and actual arguments, most of the ones that say the story is trash or bad written can't actually make any solid argument other than I was forced to play as Abby, or they dishonored the original game story and characters.

So now to not mimic all those reviews I am going to tell you why the story is a masterpiece, obviously, I can't do that without spoilers, so if you don't want spoilers this is the time to turn away.

I'm going to start with the fact (yes it is a fact and not an opinion) that not everything you don't like is trash, you're entitled to enjoy what you do regardless of what the majority of the audience says and there are masterpieces out there of every kind that you're not obligated to like. being that said this game has a plot about revenge, however, the story goes about breaking the violence spiral, you lose everything if you do not, and both main characters are about that.

If you watch Abby's story without knowing the events of TLoU Part 1 or are objective enough to see her side of the story on her shoes, you would realize that at the moment of meeting Joel and actually killing him, Abby was at the same place you as a player and Ellie as a character was at the time Ellie decides that she must kill every last one of them, that makes Abby's character about as rich as Ellie's and is masterfully done.

The death of Joel was a catalyst and such a strong driver for the story, it makes Ellie embark on this quest and finally save Ellie, who's lost everything, Joel, Jackson Group, Dina and even the last 2 things that connected her to her parent figures, her mom's knife at the beach in the fight with Abby and in the same fight the ability to play the guitar which was her last connection to Joel, but she regains her humanity which makes Joel's death worth it and not be for nothing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a technical and gameplay tour-de-force. The graphics are stupendous, the sound design amazing, and the mechanics, while an evolution of previous Naughty Dog games are a big leap forward in variety and fluidity.

The story is...complicated. And probably will leave you less than satisfied at first. But it is much deeper than many initial impressions and reviewers give it credit for. Personally, I don't think the developers were always successful in putting the player in the emotional spot that they wanted them and that caused some dissonance and probably poor reviews from some players. Two days after finishing, I'm still processing things. The game certainly doesn't end in a way that brings satisfaction to the player, but it does end in a way that closes the story and makes the point it is trying to make.

Kudos to Naughty Dog for putting out another intense, immersive, and utterly gorgeous game experience that took risks and pushed the player to look beyond themselves and into themselves to question what they find there.

It gave 10x much emotions than all the games for the previous couple of years. Ignore the gorgeous graphics etc, it's the story that drives here. Forget 5/5 to God of War, it's a child fairytale compared to this. Personally I wouldn't prefer the same roadtrip as the first TLOU, it just wouldn't have triggerred the same fellings again. And I glad we had that Cal level with the final fight, it still feels you defeated Abby and revenged Joel, no need to kill her as it's Ellie who decided not to. Try to play part 1 and you'll notice gameplay evolutionized a lot (crafting in the 1st was better for me though). Playing Abby punching Ellie feels disgusting, but I suppose that's what Druckmann wanted us to feel, it simply tightens our connection to the characters (well, one of them). For me the game overshadowed even TW3 I love so much. Let's be honest, none of the recent titles caused so much of emotions. A true masterpiece, can't stop thinking of it, but hoping for a more sunny part 3 :) Expand

This game is different. Excellent narrative and story line, I enjoyed every minute of it and it's complex story. Totally recommended

Loved the game, felt like a movie, didn’t feel right killing Joel, but maybe it was the best for the game to keep a story, also loved the fact that might be a part 3

Fantastic, emotional, at times difficult story, with great, relatable character growth, and great voice acting. Amazing level design, and some of the best visuals available this generation of consoles. Gameplay has been improved from the original game, and while it's nothing groundbreaking in the genre, it's still very solid and enjoyable.

‘This is the only game I have ever played, that requires some of you to play’ Troy Baker. There have been several bombastic reactions to the release of this game, dating back to the reveal and subsequent leaks. There have been claims of false advertising, which, personally, I believe is overblown - as they had to alter specific content to protect those who did not ruin the story for themselves.

Anyway, the story is harrowing, brutal, enlightening and admittedly taxing at times. It holds up a mirror to your ego, emotional impulses and objectivity. ‘At first I thought this was a game about hate, then I realised it is about love and hope’ Neil Druckmann. Throughout the violence, brutality and sacrifice - can you hold on to those you love, the person you are and control your irrationally - fighting to hold on, instead of giving in to your hateful destructive quest for ‘justice’. Hate can lose you more than letting go. There is a price for forgiveness, but is it a bigger one than revenge? That’s for you to decide.

NaughtyDog took a risk, but for now, they weren't rewarded. Great game overall. Never had this much emotions (from happy to sad, nervous to excited, angry to relieved) in a game in a very long time. If you want to know if the game is good, play it and finish it. Only then you'll understand the mixed reviews it is getting.

It's hated by alot of people now because of over-hype and preconceived notions, but precisely because of this it will stand the test of time and be remembered in the years to come.

The people who shout the loudest arent often the most knowledgeable. They're often the most immature.

they maximise what can a game do compare to a movie. If a movie is created it is focused only on the protagonist and their reasons however in this game they make the audience/player feel a rollercoaster ride of emotions. They confused the audience who to favour and it is a great experience

The graphics is absolutely outstanding, never have seen anything like that on a PS4pro. And the story is breathtaking and extremely disturbing, and it feels so hardcore 'real' and 'uncandied'. By slipping into the role of Ellie AND Abby the experience gets so much more valuable. And after all, i still love the sad story of Ellie and Joel. And i love the lovestory of Ellie and Dina. Breaking with (bad) standards is controversal, but it makes this game the first of a new era! Best story ever. Best game ever. Expand

    Best game ever!!!!

I absolutely cannot understand why the game is rated so badly. I don't understand why so many fans want a new story. I think the story is perfect as it is. Naughty Dog has continued the series as it was, always with blatant turns and difficult decisions. Why change history if only a handful of people don't like it? You should just stop taking yourself too

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very good, excellent game. Perfect graphics, good gameplay and incredible story! I Dont understand why people are hating this amazing game.

It shows that Ellie would do exactly the same thing Joel did for her in part I. In the end, Ellie also let Abby live, and I found that exciting. I was already sad to think Abby was going to die.

Still, what an incredible game. It made me like the person, Abby, who killed Joel, the protagonist of part I. He showed me that everyone has their reasons and their points of view.

I also liked Abby and how she saved Lev, and started to care for him as if it were his family.

Still, even though Ellie killed Owen, who Abby loved, she let Ellie live, which was noble of her. Thankfully, Ellie was also touched at the end and left behind the feeling of revenge.

My only negative criticism is the ease of the game. I played at the maximum difficulty level, survival, and even then I didn't find the game difficult. Thats the only reason for i dont give maximum rating.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
