Just finished it yesterday and I can't believe I held off playing it. It is an absolute masterpiece of a game.

It is one of the most memorable pieces of entertainment I've ever experienced and I won't forget it for a long time. I liked TLOU1 but the gameplay got a little stale half way though and the story, while fantastic, didn't have a massive impact on me like TLOU2's story did.

I LOVED what Naughty Dog did with the story in this game. The outrage it gets is because they did something bold and that annoyed a certain segment of the fanbase but the story was only impactful because of it.

Its story is largely poignant because of how self-contained it is: not knowing what happened between Joel and Ellie after his fateful, final decision burned a mark into the brains of many who played it, and that open-ended question has lingered for years. But with The Last of Us Part 2, developer Naughty Dog rises to that challenge with not only a complex, profound story that gives it a reason to exist, but also deep and satisfying evolutions to the original’s third-person action/stealth gameplay.

I can’t tell you much about some of Part 2’s best aspects, but not because I don’t want to – I’m bursting to talk with anyone about all the moving, uplifting, and heart-wrenching moments that have been replaying in my mind for days since I first beat this adventure For me it's a great game and it deserves grades.

Interesting and convinving story, well balanced and integrated into the gameplay. As an additional positive element I was very surprised to find out that the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis exist in real life and it acts in the same way, infecting antis (There is a BBC documentary which explains the phenomenon). Gameplay: 10/10
Dynamic, interesting and balanced gameplay able to create emotions and transpose the player into an action thriller movie protagonist. Graphics & sound: 10/10
The Last of us part 2 is a beautiful game, delivering a gorgeous environment which manages to convince and contribue to the game's atmosphere. When it snows or it rains the entire environement shows, sounds and  feels like it. Additionally all the sounds greatly contribue to the atmosphere and the created tension. The background music, the cinematic music, even the music at the menu integrates well with the theme of the game. Game functiinality & bugs: 9/10:
Only one bug encountered during swimming in a reservoir which threw me out of the textured walls. Value for money: 10/10
The game will give you your money's worth even if you buy it full price, due to the interesting stroy, the convincing atmosphere and the awsome gameplay. Conclusion: 10/10
Playing "The past of us part 2" is TIME WELL SPENT. It is a good game. Do not listen to the haters frustrated by the outcome of the story, just give it a try and you will not regret it! May your survival be long and your death be swift!

SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVENT PLAYED THE GAME

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- First of all I want to say that of course there are people that genuinely disliked the game which is fine because what I'm about to say is just my opinion as well.

So obviously the main reason there are so many bad reviews about a weak plot is because of how quick and brutally Joel got killed in TLOU part 2. I am a big TLOU fan and I cant lie, I was pretty sad and angry when I first realised he had died and wasn't coming back. That the character we've played as for so many hours, that we've traveled across the US with, was gone and you couldn't do anything about it. But I think that this characters death alone makes people angry enough to think it's a bad game, is the reason why the game is so good. You feel the same way as Ellie, you can relate to Ellie when walking down that brutal, bloody path of revenge because one of your favorite characters got killed. I don't know about you, but in the beginning of TLOU part 2 I was happily killing everyone that got in my way to avenge Joel, but towards the end, and after seeing abby's perspective, I understood her point of view more. Imagine being abby instead of Ellie in TLOU 1 and some crazy guy with hundreds of deaths to his name killed your father who was trying to discover a cure for the fungus killing most of humanity for the past 20 years. I definitely still hate her for doing what she did, but I understand her reasons which makes her a great antagonist. The truth is, if Ellie killed her, someone else would have probably killed Ellie, and then Dina or someone would kill that person, and then another person would kill Dina and so on. But Ellie, realizing killing abby wont bring Joel back, and already traumatized by all of the countless people shes killed, decided to not kill abby, which would've probably haunted her for the rest of her life. This game is very **** sad, devastating and heartbreaking, but that's just the way TLOU's dark, gritty and realistic world is. It's not a game about flowers and sunshine. Sure, there are lighthearted moments (which I love they make me very happy), but all of the characters are forced to a violent lifestyle, if not to defend themselves from hunters, it's to be able to live with the constant threat of infected. Joel dying is probably one of the saddest moments in gaming but it's also what makes TLOU part 2 TLOU part 2. It immediately sets the tone and you're like 'oh **** that really happened. It's about to get really dark and brutal.' Basically what I'm trying to say is that Joel's death and the entire story with Ellie, who was once a little girl always joking around but now murdering people whilst traumatizing herself because of how angry and broken she is, is the saddest thing ever, but it also makes it one of the best games ever. All these emotions. It's amazing what ND have done with the sequel. Everything you've done and experienced, all leading up to this dark, depressing ending. It really makes you feel something.

And that's just talking about one aspect of the story jesus I could talk for days about this. But other than the amazing story, you cant deny that the graphics, first of all, are beautiful. I mean, next time you play the game, take a second to look at the environment. The details. It all looks so real. It continues to amaze me how far games have come.

Next thing I want to talk about is the combat. It's so **** flawless and cool, a perfect mixture of brutality and swiftness. This really makes any encounter feel like a movie.

And then of course there's the acting. I literally cant find the words to describe how amazing and realistic the acting is. All these amazing and talented actors are what bring the characters alive. It's what makes a game better then lots of movies.

And finally the sound design. I'm sure you've already noticed this in TLOU part 1. Its beautiful. That's all I have to say.

All of that put together by lots of talented developers, programmers, designers and the rest of the people that worked on the game creates this amazing, emotional and beautiful game. Don't let one moment ruin this beautiful cinematic piece of art.

But of course that's just my opinion about The Last Of Us part II. (To all of the people sending hate to abby's voice actor and face model, how does it feel to be an immature full of **** disgusting unlikable person. Feel free to change.)

Gameplay is improved from Part 1. It's challenging, and lets you play how you want: shoot them all down or pick them apart one-by-one via stealth.

The graphics are gorgeous. I loved walking through the zones and admiring the foliage.

It's not as terrifying, but maybe because I'm used to the world in Part 1.

The story was pretty crazy. The game starts off with a bang and gives you little breadcrumbs as you search for the truth. It depicts themes of forgiveness, duty, hope, tragedy, loss, sacrifice... basically essences of humanity. It's a heartbreaking story, but at the same time it highlights the human spirit and how it can keep going even in Hell On Earth.

There are two issues that people bring up with this game:

    1) I think people are overreacting to the LGBT themes. If the main character is gay, she'll be friends with LGBT people. It doesn't seem to be a focus point in the story, but the audience is going to focus in on what it wants to.

    2) The drama that the game starts off with is heartbreaking. You can't believe it just happened. It's unthinkable. You try to piece together why any of it happened through the remainder of the game. The motives are unclear for so long. You go through what the protagonist goes through. You see it from their view. You see the antagonist's view. It makes complete sense why. This isn't Marvel where Spiderman is invincible and always thwarts the enemy. This is a multi-dimensional story that reflects real life. Your friends can be killed in real life and there is no amount of grief that will bring them back.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think this game is a masterpiece. And as good as it is, every masterpiece has a some flaws. The flaws with the this game are few and far between but definitely worth calling out. Although I’m extremely satisfied with the narrative, the tone, the pacing etc, it’s the order of events played out in the story that are the problem. It is extremely hard to empathize with Abby for many people if you watch her kill so many people and spend the first half of the game chasing her. You cant be expected to empathize and understand her if you play her side over halfway through the game.

Then there’s Jessie who was a completely underutilized character. He dies in an insulting way and never reached his full potential. With those few things out of the way, I can’t begin to express how good this game is.

The visuals are stunning and gorgeous. I feel like I really am in a ravaged and destroyed country. I think the gameplay has many improvements over the first game with the inclusion of the dodging and slightly more pleasing UI and better weapon upgrading. New weapon types and enemy types too. Honestly apart from a few story flaws I cant complain about much. Easily a 9-9.5/10

Don't listen to the reviews from people who refuse to even buy the game because the story leaked. This game for the most part is incredible. The story, sound, graphics, gameplay and overall design are outstanding.

My only gripe is that in my opinion they did not stick the landing. The clear theme of this game is revenge the the role and effects it has on the people involved. Is revenge justice and therefor good and noble? Or is it injustice, bad - evil? The story is built around exploring this idea and goes so far as to put you in the shoes of the main antagonist to cause you to think even more critically.

This is one of the most effective ways to tell a story and humanize both sides that I've ever seen. When I first started playing as Abby when you reach about the halfway point of the game, it was hard to even want to keep playing. I didn't want to get to know this character that I already despised. But as the story progresses and you see just how cruel and vile this world is, you start to sympathize and understand the motivation behind a character I so vehemently hated just a few hours ago. By the time I got to the sniper bridge sequence I had almost entirely forgotten that the first part of the game had happened. Ellie & Tommy are the bad guys in that story and when you finally realize that it is very jarring.

Had it ended once those stories collided in a more meaningful way, this game would be a 10/10 for me. But from the climax- between Ellie and Abby in the theatre - onward the game looses its momentum and purpose. Ultimately you are left feeling like none of it had a point. Ellie risks her own life to rescue Abby (who is literally enslaved by a group that's clearly very evil and wont have her alive much longer anyway which it turns out later she going to be dead in a matter of hours anyway) so that she can kill Abby herself (with her bare hands even though she has guns) to then let Abby escape because, well there is really no reason it leaves the whole thing feeling like nothing was learned and nothing was gained from anyone. If the idea was to have the player just feeling like everything is hopeless and pointless then I guess it worked but I just felt like this game would have so much more to say.

I can understand why some players may not like certain parts, but to know if you enjoy this game you really must play it all the way through. This game truly makes you feel the emotions of the characters and walk in their shoes. If you let yourself be immersed in the story and follow the nuances of each character you can experience one of the most intense stories I have seen in a video game. I believe that Joel deserved to live at least until the middle of the game. Flashbacks Ellie is the best in the game, very touching and cute scenes. The end of the game is very I would like to kill Abby, and I didn’t seem to want to kill her because I did not empathize with Abby, but Leo because he would have lost the only loved one in his life. Neil Drakman left the ending open and I would like to see the dlc or the final part in this game.

P.S I would like more Jackson or joyful memories from Ally's life. The game left mixed feelings, but because of my sympathy for Ally and my love for the previous part, I will give a positive assessment. I still fell in love with this part, for the positive and negative emotions I had.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's pretty clear from reading the negative reviews that many of them either 1) decided to hate the game when they read out-of-context spoilers, which wrecked their experience, but they're too immature to see that, or 2) they never played the game, but hate "SJWs" and see a chance to blame SJWs for "yet another game wrecked by their agenda." If you're labeling any game that veers from the "straight white protagonist" format as "SJW propaganda," then the problem is you. Grow the f*** up.

Yes, there's LGBTQ+ plot elements but nothing about the story or the characters struck me as "token SJW characters." Many were angry about Joel's death, but the game gave me the full spectrum of emotional experience within 25-30 hours of playtime. It's classic Naughty Dog, and anyone that thinks the Last of Us would make you feel "safe" clearly wasn't paying attention and most certainly did NOT play the original's DLC.

It's not perfect. The game spends more time on the primary characters (Ellie, Abby) and so the secondary character development suffers a bit. They're not terrible, but none of them approach the memorability of Tess or Bill. The open-world format of Seattle Day 1 dragged a bit.

Still... it's not "a revenge game." Go watch John Wick or play one of the countless games already made on that topic. It's much deeper than that. All of the characters--Joel, Ellie, Abby, Tommy, and many others--have done unspeakable things that were "justified" in their eyes. This game is about what we become when we seek revenge, but also about learning to forgive the unforgivable. This last part is more about Joel and Ellie than Ellie and Abby--how do you make peace with someone that was taken from you?

I'm happy to play a game that surprises me. Subverting expectations NEVER guarantees a great story, but playing it safe ALWAYS prevents a memorable one. Kudos to Naughty Dog, I'll happily wait another 5 years for Part III.

And **** all of you going on about trans characters and other 4 Chan **** Head for the door and come back when you learn to think for yourselves.

The supporting cast is flat and might as well not even have names for how much they matter. Abby by far is the most unlikable character in the entire game, partly due to her killing joel and partly because she adds nothing to the story and even though you are forced to play as her in what is basically a 10 hour side quest you come out the other side even more resolved to end her life. She is as morally ambiguous as joel was and is in no way a 'good person . Her motivation for killing joel is lackluster "he killed my dad who was going to kill a 14 year old" and she comes across as whiney The ending is atrocious. A revenge story where at the end you....do t get revenclge, because killing and revenge are bad? An odd message considering you spend the majority of the game gutting NPCs who had nothing to do with joels death and even a pregnant woman on your quest for vengeance. You then have a protracted 15 minute hand to hand slugfest only to let abby live because....joel flashback? Unsatisfactory conclusion to an unsatisfactory game. There is also the issue of the mechanics and gameplay. Apart from the ability to go prone, a dodge button and better melee animations, the gameplay is largely unchanged from the first game. A game that came out 7 years ago. This game feels like a re skin of the first. Save your money and just replay the last of us part 1

The wonderful storytelling centred around Joel and Ellie, the fun gameplay and the great pacing. The temptation and risk was always to make a sequel that’s bigger at the cost of not being better and sadly that’s what Naughty Dog have fallen into the trap of doing. The story is fine (outside the controversy that I’ll talk about later) - way better than anything out there and I understand why they took the direction they did, but it simply doesn’t have the magic and the originality of the first game. The gameplay is a better version of the first one, but this is both a blessing and a curse. Moment to moment it’s fun, but given the fact that Naughty Dog only seem to be able to make one type of game, i.e. linear, melee, guns and simple environmental puzzle solving, you’ve already played it in the first game, Unchartered 4 and Lost Legacy. Problems still exist - close combat fighting is a pain, human boss battles haven’t progressed beyond L1 to dodge and then square to hit and you just keep doing this. Pacing however is where my biggest gripe is. In the quest to make it bigger, Naughty Dog have added so much padding to the game. At times I was happy to have a little break from the action but at times I simple didn’t want to go through yet another non combat flash back. And (always a bad sign) often wanted this game to come to an end. There’s been a huge amount of fan based negative press against this game, which in the end affected my enjoyment of the game. This annoyed me, but at the same time it was a real wake up call to how the industry works. Simply put everything you hear from trusted sites such as IGN - take with a pinch of salt. Ultimately these sites are reliant on the big gaming companies giving them early access and exclusives and you can image that if they are not nice about a game, well they won’t get the next ... Ever wondered why everyone working for one of these sites have the same opinion? I can only assume that they are told what their employers have aligned on ... Sony and Naughty Dog’s biggest crime however was to lie about what this game is about. It went too far and they mis-sold a game. You just cannot do that. All that aside, the reality is that it is a great game, but it’s just not up there with the true greats. It seemed that the game got stuck in a time freeze (2013 in fact) and the developers got so excited about fancy graphics and their crazy and original idea of a story (which it isn’t) that they didn’t notice the world had moved on. They didn’t notice or try and keep up with masterpieces like BOTW, Red Dead 2, GTA 5, Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher 3 and instead delivered a game that would have been really cool had it been 2014. Being a huge fan of the first game I always hoped that it would be left to be something truly special. Sadly I always knew that there was too much money at stake and that we’d see a sequel that would be bigger, but sadly not better. And sadly, that’s exactly what Sony and Naughty Dog have delivered. Logically it makes sense to have a sequel and it’s a great game, but Last of Us has never been about logic, it’s about emotions and there’s too much love for the first game for anything to go wrong for a sequel and sadly some things have gone wrong in this sequel. I really hope that there will be a high-end version for the PS5 again.

Thanks to Naughty Dog that a finished version has finally come onto the market, some publishers should cut off a slice of it.

To all haters..reading through the story before buying a game and / or rating it with an asterisk because of an anti-homophobic attitude does not testify to the intelligence needed to understand this game enough. Maybe you'd rather stay with Tetris?

I heard people saying this is The Last Jedi of video games. That's when I was certain I was going to love it. Jokes aside, this game truly is groundbreaking and I can understand why some people dislike it. It's very far for a conventional game, and it is by far the most effective psychological drama I've played so far. It's very far for a conventional game, and it is by far the most effective psychological drama I've played so far. It really drained me emotionally, made me hate the characters I loved, and love the characters I hated. One last thing I can say is that this is a game ahead of its time and a lot of people will grow to like it many years from now when this type of hyper mature story will be more popular in this fairly young storytelling medium. Thank you Naughty Dog for your bravery to break stereotypes and conventions and tell us this thought-provoking story. You have our full support, the people who loved this sequel, and we await the next entry in this brilliant franchise. Expand

Quem nao gostou do jogo por causa de valores morais deveria vender o console e se dedicar a hipocrisia em outras areas.

    O jogo é perfeito.

One of the best games I played in my whole life.
The story is incredibly immersive, and the graphics are outstanding.
The enemies' animations are very realistic. TLOU II brings the game industry to another level.
In my opinion, until now, is the best game of the year!

Uma obra prima dos jogos! Um jogo que trouxe um mix de sentimentos e mostrou que a Naughty Dog nunca decepciona!

I already explained in my youtube channel why I believe in giving this game a 10, you may disagree with me and that is fine, but I have the right to give this game what I think it deserves, and for me is a solid 10.

This plot is a mockery of the first part. The gameplay has gotten worse.
Left-wing society puts pressure on the game, and why, why do you support it? It's pointless. You dig a hole for yourself. If you justify the apocalypse - then why the characters do not have a "mustache"? Why are some parts of the body logically groomed, and some vice versa?

Posso dizer com toda certeza The Last Of us Part II e o jogo mais incrível dessa geração.

I walked in a fancy restaurant, but they just presented me rotten food. I won't rate based on how good your restaurant look, but on how good the food tasted.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. People hearing the leaks and getting angry about plot turns. People seeing leaked cutscenes out of context and disliking them. People watching streamers play and complain their way through the game. Or people who played, got to the big early death and stormed off to write a review in the first two hours is what has given this game so many negative player review's.

However I believe Naughty Dog has crafted a beautifuly tragic story about the cost of revenge and discovering what it truly means to be human. I applaud Naughty Dog to sticking to their artistic vsion and not appeasing the fans like the recent Star Wars film has done.

The sound design, environments, combat dialogue and acting were some of the best I've ever seen in a video game. Accompanied by the veceral, authentic and out right tragic storytelling of Ellies revenge driven quest with the player truly feeling every action she makes alike beating nora to death or killing mel and discovering she's pregnant, you feel it as a player both in her pain and suffering each time.

When playing as Abby I **** hated it for the first hour or so calling back to joels death and what she did but as you play her you discover that she is just like Ellie. Living in a settlement full of people that love and respect her, friends that would die for her and selfless acts the redeem her as a character and reveal that she isn't some monster just someone that lost her father alike Ellie lost her father figure.

The sniper act during abbys game time was a perfect way of illustrating this dynamic, I felt myself getting really angry and honestly pissed at the sniper and after killing one of Abby friends I was furious before realising it was Tommy. It was at that moment I had a moment of clarity about the game that both Abbys and Ellies storys were profoundly the same and came to sympathize and recognize each of the characters humanity.

During the final act if the game where Ellie and Abby were fighting i didn't want either of them to win nor to lose, I had come to understand and respect each of the charters even for killing joel as we had killed all of Abby friends too.

And to have Ellie lose everything at the end of the game including Dina, Jesse, Tommy her 'son' and even her ability to play guitar along with joel in her mission of revenge was a profound but uniquely beautiful and symbolic way of climaixng part 2 of this series.

My only gripe with the game was possibly the structuring and longevity of the game. I would have much rather a tighter more cohesive story but other than that this is a worthy successor to it's counter part.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t like that Joel died but I understand it and it makes sense, after all he was not a good person. The only part I disliked was having to fight Ellie as Abby, which sucked and the first hour playing as Abby after the zoo, but I quickly stopped hating Abby that much after the kids Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
