The story is what matters, and the story is a DISASTER
    Characters contraddict themselves
    Characters make nonsensical choices
    Plot holes upon plot holes
Add the terrible behavior of Naughty Dog regarding reviews and people talking about the game, and you have one of the most disasterful releases of our generation.

I was a big fan of the Last of us 1 in 2013 and was completely disappointed when I started to play this game. Why did you pay so much attention to Ellie's gayness? People who played the game know that yes it's beautiful technologically and the acting is great, but being realistic the story is bad. The story changes an important character trait of Joel just so they could kill him off. We all expected him to die, but a death scene should feel earned, not happen because the writers couldn't think of a reasonable way to kill him in context. They didn't flesh out any of the new characters well and besides Abby, who is shown a lot but lacks proper humanization. Apparently, by telling me that a person has friends and a dog I should immediately feel bad for them, like did they not expect me to think she also is a typical human?? They treat the player like they don't understand much without explanation, and then at the end, they add info that you should have known the entire game (Ellie knew the entire time but we conveniently aren't told despite playing her) for an emotional blow. In the end, it feels like a good idea that was ruined by cop-outs and bad writing techniques. Not to mention the fact the game is specifically made to make you feel bad which as expert game designer Reggie says, "If it's not fun why bother" In the end, you play as Ellie who's okay with brutally murdering everyone who hasn't done anything wrong and decides to stop by the time she gets to the person who deserves her rage. The game just feels like they had a point but no idea how to get it across. Expand

I’m a HUGE fan of the first part of TLOU as many people here. I have just finished Part II and the only feeling I have is disappointment. I feel like my favourite game (TLOU) that gave me SO MUCH mental strength (and hope and feelings and etc) was taken and butchered in cold blood.

The story sucks. Really. For the first 10 hours I had a lot of hope for it. I lost if all during the next

The story sucks. Really. For the first 10 hours I had a lot of hope for it. I lost if all during the next 10 hours and forced myself to finish the game for the rest of time.
The problem is that you don’t get to care about the new characters, you don’t empathise with anyone but Ellie... this is SO not the level of deep character creation I remember from the first game, where you would actually feel for others not just Joel and Ellie. The ending is just... disappointing.
Don’t get me wrong: there were great things as well, they were just so few compared to other less “generous” moments of storytelling.

The gameplay has improved incredibly since the first game though: the combat is outstanding and the game is so very enjoyable to play. If I could forget about the story, that the game just doesn’t deliver, than I would totally rate TLOU Part II a solid 9/10.
But I care about the story. So it gets 4/10. Shame.

Going in with a huge bias for the franchise, Naughtydog has completely averted my expectations and made a shallow, meaningless and overall embarrassing follow up to one of the greatest games of this generation. Firstly Joel’s death was a given seeing as though the game is a revenge story so this was never a problem. but the way it was handled was completely disrespectful, seeing our favourite character, half of the heart of the franchise, killed for an ultimately pointless story hurts. The implementation of Abby’s 12 hour story line plays as padding for a longer playtime. Her slog of a story progressed nothing and is a back and forth mission for characters that are impossible to be connected too. This all leads to a ending the would not have stuck with me even if everything was handeled correctly. Naughtydog has successfully shat on a masterpiece and nosedived the crown jewel Playstation exclusive into the mud. They should be ashamed of themselves. That’s just my opinion though. Your all entitled to your own. Hope you enjoyed the game more than i did. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The problem with this game isn't that it is "too depressing". You can make a depressing story that makes sense and makes you like it. I was unable to complete it (it is so bad), instead I've read the plot summary. And you know what? No matter how I looked at it, I felt that the whole plot was very very familiar to something I've read before. If you think that the problem of this game is that "they changed the writer", I wouldn't be so sure about it. The thing is, I have a hunch that the first game was a copypasta of some another, less-known (in the west) story. But let's talk about TLOU2. There is a certain, currenlty untranslated, Japanese visual novel by the name Soukou Akki Muramasa. In the prologue of the game protagonist is a certain high-schooler who tries to investigate the death of his friend. At the end of the prologue, he is suddenly killed by a detective who solved the crime and who the boy considered a hero. Fake protagonist killed after a few hours of the game, sounds familiar? Also, revenge and the preciousness of human life is the main theme of the game. The difference is - Soukou Akki Muramasa actually makes you relate to the "villain protagonist" for real, to understand his reasoning and life philosophy. He isn't a cold-blooded killer, he is a person who is forced into his circumstances, a person who kills with his eyes wet from tears and heart wrenching from pain. A very deep and complex character, one of the best protagonists ever. In comparison, Abby...well, she is just trash. At the end of Soukou Akki Muramasa, the protagonist would be forced to make a choice. To kill an evil man for the sake of revenge, or not to. And as it is a visual novel, you will be given an actual choice. By choosing not to kill you actually get a true end. Sounds familiar? But the difference is - the protagonist of Muramasa wouldn't kill the man not because "killing is so bad", but because he understands his own sins, he realized that a person as sinful as he is has no right to seek revenge. It is very deep, very touching, and emotionally impactful. What I want to say here is that The Last of Us Part II tries to tell you the story that actually could be pretty good if done right, but it fails miserably. Moreover, it goes against the expectations of those people who loved the first game. If the first and the second games were actually written by the same person then I can be pretty much sure that he is just a copywriter who got lucky with his first attempt, but not so lucky with the second. And now I'd rather flush my fking 250 bucks right into the toilet AFTER FINISHING THE GMAE. The story is a piece of sh*t and does not make any sense. And fans are totally entitled to be angry about it. Neil was doing everything that he could to make people like Abby and hate Ellie. Guess what? None of these worked. When I reached to the point where I was forced to play as Abby for nearly 10 hours, I was so confused. I don’t give a single sh*t ABOUT ABBY’S BACKSTORY! Abby is still an unlikeable character, let alone the other new characters that were created with no depth what so ever. How dare you Neil Druckmann, to take everything that I love about the first game, twist it, and make it just a social message of your own. To think forcing play to let Abby go in the end was a genius move, it just shows how untalented and incompetent he is as a writer. It's a shame that Druckmann is using LGBTQ as a cover to hide just how much an untalented writer he is. LGBTQ groups should be offended because they were just used like tools by Neil Druckmann. Well, here's my message to you, Druckmann, doesn't matter how much power was given to you, an untalented writer will always be an untalented writer. A 2 out of 10 is simply for what still remains from the Last of Us in this so called sequel. Expand

Allow me to elaborate. A perfect zero is when a game is so devoid of awareness of it's predecessor, that it completely revokes any themes, character development, symbolism, or motives of not only itself but also the previous franchise title. It shoots itself in the foot, and in doing so, pointlessly murders the previous game that is crushed under its boot. The story of The Last of Us left us with a comfort of where our characters were, what they believed in, what they lived for, how they loved each other. On that note, they also established their skills, their abilities, their instincts. All of these were shattered in Part II. Joel is no longer attentive and assertive, Ellie is no longer endearingly sensitive, the characters become horrible shadows of what made them strong in the first game. And what do we get for it? Nothing. The game's linear storytelling riddled with plot holes and glaring pandering stereotypes leave us dumbfounded at what we just put ourselves through. It leaves us heartbroken, and it shows us exactly how much time we just wasted. It doesn't leave resolution, it doesn't fix any issues, it's not cohesive, it doesn't abide by anything fulfilling. It's is a plate of burnt crust when what you asked for was a sublime pizza with all the toppings. The most glaringly obvious problem with this game is how much they definitively changed to try and be different. It's deliberate, it's insulting, it's pandering to the completely wrong audience. It's unaware, it's foolish, and it doesn't even retain the sense of fear that the first game thrives on. The moment Joel dies, the game was no longer interesting, because that's who made the story interesting. Joel. His ability to survive, his struggle, his mentorship, his morals, his values, his selfishness. He died a so easily it was not even believable. So then where are we?

In a messy cross between the worst parts of the plots of Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and John Wick, we are given nothing, no retribution, no justice, no feeling of accomplishment. Only a feeling of disappointment. This is capitalizing on the trend of sadness which was popular about 5 years ago. Too little, too late. In the time of a pandemic, civil unrest, and injustice we escape to a world of terrible pacing, threadbare character development, no progression, and we feel more sad. This is not rewarding. This is not pleasure. This is not a video game. It is a poorly written novel that would be lost to time in any other format. It's a fool's errand and it should rot for eternity.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As the fun of the first game, I realize that TLOU games are plot-driven. In the sequel, Neil Druckmann made revenge and retribution main themes of the game. However, notion that violence begets only further violence isn't groundbreaking in storytelling. It corresponds to Druckmann's writing style: "simple story, complex characters". In spite of this, I believe that there are only two well written personages, whose goals and motivation are perfectly explained: Abby and Tommy. It's hard to compare Yara and Lev to Sam and Henry, since the first pair has got far more screen time. As for the rest of the characters, such as Dina, Jesse, Owen, Mel, Manny and Nora I didn't feel a lot of emotional investment in them. Nevertheless, as far as I am concerned, the biggest drawback of the sequel is its plot. I want to highlight two moments, which were the most controversial for me. The first one is the ambush in the hotel, where Abby told Ellie that WLF let her and Tommy live and they "wasted it", because this duo killed Abby's friends. However, this scene is built on the false premise: Ellie asked all of the aforementioned people to tell her Abby's location and everyone refused and tried to kill her instead. The second plot twist that devastated me was final fight between Abby and Ellie. The fact that Ellie forgives her enemy and allows her to escape was supposed to show Ellie's character growth, it meant to be a parallel to her attempt to forgive Joel and also she saw Abby as the last protector of Lev, whereas the same could be applied to her and Joel in the first game. Whilst I think that it's a wonderful idea, it diminishes the values of nearly a hundred individuals Ellie killed on her revenge quest. The vast majority of these people were not directly related to Joel's execution, but they paid with their lives. On the other hand, the person, who organized this operation is shown mercy. In my opinion there are two ways to faithfully deliver following idea. Firstly, allow Ellie to eliminate Abby and Lev, then show that now she is hunted by Lev's death too and Dina abandons her. In this scenario, Ellie will have her revenge, but there will be no satisfaction from it. Furthermore, she will be alone and the audience knows it's her greatest fear. Second option is to let Ellie live in the farm with Dina nurturing JJ, yet she still suffers from PTSD and has to struggle to live peacefully, since Ellie is afraid that sooner or later the violence will erupt again. That is the only thing I can praise about this game. There are times where items that the characters bring directly into their face and up to the camera take a minute to pop in the correct textures so even the graphics are hindered in ways. The music has some very bland tracks and completely feels out of touch at moments where they think the audience should be feeling one way, but almost no one is. Apart from those obviously OK things this game is incredibly bad and poorly directed. The characters act nothing like you would expect them to or what they acted like previously. All the somewhat interesting or likable characters are thrown out of the narrative and everyone else left is unappealing at best, including the two protagonists. They make decisions that even a child would know is a bad one and then reverse that when the writers deem it convenient for a "message". A message should not exist at the expense of strong, reliable characterization and a cohesive, interesting plot. Everyone I have heard from or seen play this game has found the story confusing (due to random flashbacks within flashbacks seemingly placed in particular spots for no reason), uninteresting (to the point of not wanting to continue, changing difficulties to get through it faster, etc.), and has relayed that they felt completely disappointed in every single plot thread that was shown any serious screen time. The gameplay is better than the first but no one was praising the first for it's generic gameplay either. It feels average at best here, being just another, of the hundred or so, third-person, narrative focused Sony exclusives. If everything but the graphics and music is mediocre or worse why is this even a game? Just make a slideshow presentation with stock music in the background, at least that wouldn't have disappointed so many people and made even more lose faith in Naughty Dog as a competent developer.

    Overall:
    Graphics - 8/10
    Music - 5/10
    Gameplay - 4/10
    Characters - 0/10
    Story - 0/10

If a developer made a really good looking model of a pile of **** with generic music playing in the background then asked me to play it for 25 hours and wanted my thoughts on their "game" I would give it a 0/10 but these devs actually thought their pile of **** was special and seriously worked on it thinking it was special and had a message, so for that I can boost it up a point. I'm feeling generous, but the vast majority of people who finish this game won't be as kind, and they shouldn't need to be. Stop deleting negative reviews and stopping others from being posted. If you're going to double check random low scores you should be doing the same with random high scores, but seeing the lack of moral fiber from previous instances involving this site, and reviewers in general, I doubt that will happen. Don't buy this game.

As an avid fan of Naughty Dog earlier releases, despite the leaks I was still hoping that no matter what's in the leaks, this game is still going to be something special. After all there is no other studio that can tell story the way ND does, right?

I'm probably one of many people that during the game came to conclusion that creators wanted you to suffer. They drag you though horrendous, emotionally draining gaming experience. Game is designed to make you miserable and there were moments when I was considering just quitting it.

Beloved characters from part one are nowhere to be found. Joel is an old, sad, beaten dog full of guilt. Ellie is completely different person that treats Joel like a dog. There is a cast of new completely irrelevant, forgettable characters that I could not care less about. Story is full of inconsistencies and plot holes. Writing can only be compared to what those two clowns did to GOT season 8.
Let's not forget super important sex scene that was so crucial to find it's way into this game.Scene that was so gross I could not watch it. Dude f*****g dude named Abby with herculean body and semi female face.

Druckmann managed to destroy everything that fans loved from part one, leaving me devastated and heart broken. He killed Joel, forced me to play half of the game as his killer trying to convince me that I should like that character. Story does not provide any profound message just a mess of unfinished plots, irrational decisions.
I was left with the feeling of confusion and emptiness after watching with bleeding heart final moments of a biggest looser of the story, emotionally and physically devastated girl named Ellie.

I cannot comprehend what was Druckmanns motivation to destroy something so beautiful and unique that was enjoyed and loved by millions of fans around the world. To make fans suffer to intentionally cause them pain. I would like to unsee it unplay it , pretend that it never happened.

I feel sorry for developers, programmers, artists etc who put so much work and heart to make this game look like it is. Visually this game is stunning. As a story driven game none of this efforts could save it unfortunately.

Having grown so found of Joel and Ellie, watching Joel go through heart ache, survive an apocalypse, grow hardened to the world. But then get a second chance with Ellie was amazing. I waited patiently for the follow up. Staying spoiler free despite the odds stacked against me. Saying that I am disappointed, angry, confused and broken with the Last of us part 2 is an understatement! I just don’t get it?? How can you mess up a winning formula that was pretty much guaranteed to sell and do well. Last of Us part 2

Graphics are amazing - TBF i expect nothing less from a AAA title in 2020!

Gameplay mechanics are good but pretty much the same as the first with some improvements - going prone, climbing and dodging but that’s about it.

Story is disgusting! Treatment of Joel, not just killing him but making him die in the most painful, brutal way possible and then literally spitting on his dead body??? Just not acceptable however you try and slice it.

Ellie is this mean and a not so likeable character all of a sudden?? Must be the fact that she has lived in relative safety with her own home, surrounded by loved ones, friends and community for the last 4 years?? We have hardly any scenes of Joel and Ellie one museum flashback which is really nice. But that’s it, every other scene between them she is just horrible to him. Newsflash NaughtyDog, practically everyone of us doesn’t think what Joel did at the end of Last of Us was that big a deal!?!! I think every father would have done the same in a flash!?! I think any daughter or other human would understand why he choose not to let her die. Making us play for so long as the character who kills Joel has to be the biggest mistake ever made in gaming history. She is shoved down your throat in this linear story. You just have to grit your teeth and try and get through. Even forces you to beat Ellie to a pulp at one stage and fight Tommy. Everything I am told about Abby still doesn’t make me like her. Her father is not very likeable, her redemption with two random kids doesnt make any sense. They saved her life she says over and over again, well so did Joel didn’t make a difference then!?!?! No she still brutalised him, not even on he saved my life I’ll make it quick!!! Even the kids who are supposed to be why we should like her are a bit annoying. Lev basically runs off and gets his mother and sister killed after you have just spent 2 hours trying to save the same sister.

Ellie kills like 1000 people trying to get to Abby and then when you finally get your hands on her right at the end and think you’ll get a pay off and some redemption. She decides killing is bad and she’s not worth it. In this mission of pointless revenge Ellie loses everyone and everything she ever had. No Joel, no Tommy, no Dina, can’t go back to Jackson. Just left alone, wondering the wilderness and then the game finishes!

Shame on you NaugtyDog, you always had my money regardless, I’d buy your products day 1 without even thinking about it, not anymore!

This game was beautifully detailed and actually quite fun to play, but i, as I'm sure thousands of other fans, came for their story which was a total let down and very forced. I'm so disappointed in Neil Druckmann as all through the promotion it was all Joel and Ellie, there was little to no promotion of any new playable characters. I felt that there should have been another game inbetween this where you play as just Abby, then have this game as the third, minus the choppy time line. I didn't have a problem with Joel dying, however, i felt Joel was used so much in promotion compared to game time that they slightly conned the public, no I don't feel entitled in any way but as a die hard fan, who has invested so much time and money into this franchise, i can't help feel totally let down by this great company. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

    Decepcionado!

Last of Us, however, is really about the story and it's the storytelling where everything falls apart in the sequel. I made excuse after excuse to myself while playing in a desperate attempt to love Last of Us 2 but there are critical plot holes surrounding key events that you really need to buy into. Worst of all, these could have easily been written much more convincingly without changing the quite controversial plot that likely would have gotten more players to appreciate the game.

The roughly 25 hour journey is mostly unpleasant, depressing, and decidedly not enjoyable. It seems like some people were moved by the moral but for many that point was obvious and insultingly clear from the start without giving the player any agency in what choices were made or how they played out. Last of Us 2 dragged everything I loved about the first game down with it, kicking and screaming. The story was needlessly clumsy and it's the player who pays in spades for this failure.

I wish I had never played this game, and for what little was done very well there is an ocean of failures that have me never wanting to revisit any game in this franchise.

The first Last of Us was great as it seemed to have much more of an intense survival aspect and not knowing whats coming next.. Being that this whole game is about revenge on actual people and not the "infected" totally felt like a 180 for me and makes the story line less in suspense. Yes there are parts with the infected you must survive from, but if you are looking for that same feel as the first one...good luck. Honestly the best parts of the game are the movie/cut scenes. If you greatly enjoyed the storytelling and development of the first game the same way I did, you probably won't like this game. I have finished this game in about 6 days since the release and I have had time to fully think about my feelings for this game.

Oh, and if your review has anything to do with a "political agenda", or "feminist propaganda", your review is already invalid. Don't bother.

I will get this out of the way and say that the gameplay and graphics are absolutely worthy of a good score, save for the fact that a LOT of the sequences are repetitive at worst. Many mechanics are improved upon and added in this game, making those sequences worthwhile. The photo mode is also fantastic, I recommend that you take as many screenshots as you can with photo mode and just play around with it.

This being said, the story is... not great. It tries to differentiate itself too much from the first game, which had a cliffhanger that basically begged for a continuation. There has been a feeling of disconnection to both the story and characters and nothing to really grasp at you emotionally or mentally as the first game did. Within the first 2 hours of this game, the entire relevancy and connection to its predecessor is completely severed due to a certain event, even if you are greatly involved with the supposed "plot" and what is told to be Ellie's end goal. This game is riddled with what I like to call cheap-outs, that try to get a "gotcha!" moment at you, but are really just surprising for a moment, then irrelevant in the next. There are certain parts that I do appreciate in the story. Ellie's interactions with the characters on her side of the story were something that felt actually good, feeling like the connections you make with other characters in the first game. Although I don't feel as if these characters are necessarily well-developed, I do appreciate that point of view from Ellie. Another aspect I greatly enjoyed, in which case is the best part of the game for me, were Ellie's sequences of flashbacks that told their own story. In my opinion, the story told by those sequences would have made a better plot, one that lovers of The Last of Us would have found more emotional distress and disparity with, in a good way. One that doesn't shatter its connection to the entire first game in a minute, but instead builds on its foundation.

The game also allows you to play the same story from another point of view, in an attempt to garner sympathy for a certain character. I will say that with my time of reflecting on this game, I have grown to like this character and the one that most of her journey is with. Yet even now, I've gained no sympathy for the character. It seemed like they got a small part of the first game (the ending hospital scene) and decided, "Oh hey! Let's make a second game entirely of this pointless death!" Moving on, many of the other characters in the "Wolves" group simply are either just unlikable or gone before you can even get to that point.

I've heard the point from critics that this game is not one you're supposed to enjoy or be happy with. I get it. It's riddled with tragedies. It's supposed to have a "deep meaning". But I say this wholeheartedly: I enjoy tragedies. I like games with tragic stories and endings. Stories that make you angry, upset, and empty. But at the end of this game, I genuinely felt none of those emotions, just disappointment. Plot devices that serve no purpose other than to be a way to move the story on (I'm looking at you, Tommy at my farm and random new group called Rattlers) and major events that don't feel major at all.

All in all, I don't want to say that this game is bad, but it's certainly not good. I say this considering it as a standalone game.
But it is not a standalone game. It is a sequel. So I am going to judge it as so. Considering this, I do not think that The Last of Us Part II is good. Sure, it ups the department of gameplay, but the main driver of The Last of Us is the story. And when you start lacking in the main focus, you have made a disappointing sequel. I wanted so bad to like this game and it hurts to write this, but this was a sequel that was just. Eh. Worth playing? Yes. Would I genuinely recommend it? No. This is my review that no one will read, thanks for your time.

They do that to perhaps make the game more challenging or perhaps to be "realistic"? B uh t if realism is what they are going for then I need to buy me the tape they use that fixes bats and pipes. TLOU2 also forces you to feel something for characters that you don't give two sh*ts about. The constant flash backs for those characters plus the inability to skip those scenes makes the game drag on in agony. Lastly, the story being told came at the expense of dumbing down the original characters to the point that they were completely out of character. There were so many plot holes that it gave me flash backs of the last season of GoT. The ending just leaves you thinking "uh ok, really? what a waste of my time"

The graphics and game play was great, but in my humble opinion its not worth your time. This game is a glorified over hyped polished turd. I wanted to love this game so bad and gave it a lot of thought before posting this review. The developers try so hard to manipulate how you feel in this game that it just comes across as deceptively cringy at best. I strongly believe a game should let the player decide for themselves at critical moments in the storyline and have a choice to act and feel the way they interpret the story. The Witcher3 is a great example of this choice given to the players at critical moments.

This game is one of the worst games ever made in terms of story-telling. I really don't care about the sequel (if you have the balls of making a sequel) because you guys took care of ruining the characters from the first game. characters that made the story much better in the past game.

I have completed the game and it was just so terrible. I never thought they could make it so bad. After 7 seven of development I can see why most of the staff left the company

This game was such a disappointment. All the high end polish you'd expect from a ND game. But when the story is such and integral part of this game, when it falls flat as hard as it does the entire game suffers. I played through twice. I just didn't care. Sold the game used today.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is bad "The Last of Us" fanfiction pretending to be a video game. It's complete with the Original Character Mary Sue beating (and/or killing) the previous protagonists and having sex with the author's Self-Insert.

It is a perfect example of how a company can completely misunderstand what made it's previous product so successful and go out of it's way to destroy beloved characters.

Just like Game of Thrones Season 8 and The Last Jedi, it's a demonstration of what happens when people with more ambition than talent are put in charge of a project and mistake subverting audience expectations with producing a quality product.

Add into this Naughty Dog and Sony's false advertising and blatant abuse and misuse of the Copyright system to silence critics and the and you are left with a product isn't worth picking up at a bargain bin price, let alone a full AAA price.

This game is a spit in the face to anyone who were invested in the first game.

The story is filled with retcons, plotholes and just overall really bad writing. The game conveniently forgets events from the first game all for the sake of painting Joel as a villain. The new character that you play as is a deplorable person yet the writers of the game wants us to sympathize with her. No!

The gameplay is better than the first game, but it's overshadow by the horrendous plot. This game isn't canon for me. Such a shame.

The good: graphics, aesthetics, models, level design

The okay: gameplay (not much has changed, janky AI, nothing innovative really)

The worst of the worst possible things in the history of video games: story, plot, characters

You had 7 years Naughty Dog ... 7 fu*king years...

I am not p(l)aying for that. I am here for the story. It is 1 pt, not because of the pain I experienced by seeing characters die, but how poorly it is executed. I don't feel anything the developers want me to feel. I feel confused, and honestly, I do not want to continue playing the game (after 4 hours in). Mechanics and gameplay work only if the story works. Imagine killing Harry Potter in Chamber of secrets, and then making you play 50% as Ron and 50% as Voldemort (I know it is not accurate in terms of character motivations, but this what came to my mind, first).

Stayed up til midnight after waiting what feels like forever for this. The story is terrible, the writing is questionable and takes you out of the experience more often than not. I’ve avoided all the leaks so I can play it fresh but after about 12 hours in I’m just disappointed. If you loved the first, avoid this because it will just ruin a great first game. So disappointed.

She is crazy sick sadist the way she killed him. No human being can feel empathy for her. Its not like he tortured her father. He was holding a knife and wouldnt let him take Ellie of because he was going to kill her for a chance of vaccine.
Even when going on a killing spree there is no satisfaction because you want to avenge Joel which did not happen. F this game. Worst story in gaming history

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
