    so the obvious elephant in the room is joels death its fine to kill a main character its happened in alot of fiction but the way they did it i would call tasteless the first torture him with a golf club but not kill him and this happens after joel saves abby's life then when ellie shows up abby kills joel and Manny walks up and spits on his corpse and insults him it feels like a slap in the face to fans cause it wouldve been fine to kill joel and he didnt even need to have a heroes death but the way they went about it wasnt right either the spit on him and then later on expect you to play as abby and then even later they expect you to beat up ellie as abby its just not right. on a side not abby isnt trans i know she looks like it and i kinda thought at first she was but shes actually just a buff woman as confirmed by the director and others so thw murder of joel wasnt done for some lgbtq agenda.

    the actual trans character lev or his original name lily was handled very well in my opinion they brought attention to it but only for a minute just like how they handled ellies lesbian relationship with riley it just to give background detail and not to encompass there entire character and i quite liked lev.

    another thing its very uncomfortable having ellie have sex with dina yes nothing is shown and it cuts to afterwords and this has nothing to do with lesbians it has to do with the fact that we watched her grow up and it just feels uncomfortable to see that its like watching your own daughter have sex you wouldnt wanna do that there were better ways to handle that and once again i wanna point out its not cause there lesbians i actually like ellie and dinas relationship.

    also the game trys to make you feel for abby but constantly has her be a peice of **** as well and its annoying like joel saves her she kills joel out of revenge, owen is dating and has mel pregnant so she **** owen so the game knowing you would think shes ****ty immediately trys to show her feeling guilty for lev and his sister to try to make her seem like a good person cause she cares the she lies at nora to the hospital saying owen is the one losing his arm not to mention the obvious she cost all of her friends lives because of her ****ty revenge on joel which could have the same said for ellie as well though not every body dies obviously.


    so at the end the game has you fight abby as ellie which why would you wanna fight the girl that you saved in the first game? Then you proceed to beat the **** out of her as abby, then she lets ellie live and leave time passes then ellie hears about abby in cali then it shifts to abby in cali for a short bit there then back to ellie in cali kill random people find abby fight abby and then see a flash back of joel just sitting on a porch no words nothing then ellie stops trying to kill her and lets her leave the whole cali section feels too long and un needed that whole thing couldve happened in Seattle and been fine.

    If I were this creator I would made better than this awful story. Just saying

    TLOU2 is a Game with amazing graphics and fun gameplay but with an awfull story,very bad character writing and a non-existing character development and one of the worst ending in the history of gaming.
    Its a shame that ND realy published this game as an Sequel of TLOU and made the year 2020 even worse for me.Should be called ,,The Last Game of Us“!

Everything that made this game special was ruined, the characters were destroyed completely. I would love to know what, if any, changes were made to the story after the leaks came out. We know ND were scrambling to do..something. My guess would be altering the scenes which were deceptively used in the trailers as one area, but do you think they also adjusted parts of the initial story? Would love to know that answer.

    The inconsistencies with how the character of Joel reacted prior to his death has been discussed ad nausea-um and they would be critical errors in story writing, but the endless elements which seem to be 'spite' written as an FU to the fans lingers throughout. How many of these were added after the leaks? That's what I would love to know.

    It's hard to understand the trend in all areas of media and entertainment of 'punishing' fandoms from any business perspective. It seems as companies believe they will somehow convert people to their political agenda over time even if they have to sacrifice a franchise here and there. They are making huge mistakes if this is their thinking.

    No doubt, TLOU2 will initially make bank so we won't see the 'get woke, go broke' effect immediately. The reverberations across the board is where it will be felt and it will be crushing for the gaming industry as it was for the comics industry.

    Essentially, any story driven by agenda over plot stands out like neon green nose in insincerity and ends up doing far more harm to any political cause intended due to the resentment generated.    … Expand

After all 6-7 years of waiting, all we've got is such a poor story with too many plot holes. Neil Druckmann didn't do his job well, for more exactly he did it terribly. Here are details of what I think about this game:

    Pros:
    - Game-play: good
    - Sound: great!
    - Graphic: very good
    - Environment: very good

    Cons:
    - story: terrible (the way Joel gave up his life, the unreasonable ending, etc)
    - plot holes: disgusting
    - character design: fairly okay
    - character development: unreasonably ridiculous
    - We gamers and players are forced to play Abby, and have no option to choose to deal with her at the end of the game. We don't like it !!! You tried to bring much more back-story of Abby to force us to feel with her, to make her a new main playable character, right after she killed Joel in a dirty way. Now that's the most terrible writing in history. Don't play with human emotions!    … Expand

    All the negative feedback made me really interested in this game. It cant be THAT bad can it? Turns out, yes, it CAN be THAT bad. They have put a lot of work into this game. It really shows they wanted it to be great. But every single step of the way just goes in the wrong direction. It is no redemption story, because the story clearly shows there is no redemption to be had. There is noAll the negative feedback made me really interested in this game. It cant be THAT bad can it? Turns out, yes, it CAN be THAT bad. They have put a lot of work into this game. It really shows they wanted it to be great. But every single step of the way just goes in the wrong direction. It is no redemption story, because the story clearly shows there is no redemption to be had. There is no revenge, because well... Ellie got old and tired when she once again remembered Joel trolling her with the guitar. --- The entire game is just a bleak, horrible, depressing, stressful and obnoxious to go through. It feels like punishment playing the game. Those bloody kills you so much used to love? Well, you will start turning away from the screen and shutting the game of because the story, the setting, the tone, the motivations, the constant stream of stupid decisions...     Any character bevelopment from a first part? Gone, snapped to oblivion to carry a "message" that contradicts itself.

    Graphics is pretty. But that's not what is expected from the game.

Тебе что финал писали люди которые написали финал для Масс Эффекта 3? Дальше, где эволюция геймплея? Да мало того, что ты не развивал его, так еще и затянул. Хуже Убисофта в этом поступил... А в способе повествования это просто шаг назад(боевочка, застовочка, боевочка)... Нельзя было сделать как раньше хотя бы это?!? И еще где ты ИИ противников потерял? А казусы в сюжете на подобие Эбби и ее фигуры(для такой фигуры она должна была столько тестостерона вколоть, что у нее бы была борода по пояс). Почему нельзя было взять за пример реальную даму из ММА? Они офигеть насколько тренированные войны... А беременная которая лазит по карнизам? Ты хоть с одной беременной общался? Ты знаешь от них, насколько это не легко? И где развитие персонажей и отношений?

    Отдельное слово дизайнерам и аниматором. Все 3 балла это ваша заслуга. Если игру можно было оценивать только за Вашу работу то это было бы 10/10. По игре видно, что Вы единственные кому не пофиг на игру. И да в следущий раз - заберите траву у Нила...    … Expand

    Graphics look amazing, one of the best for consoles.
    Story is so bad, it's just so dumb and it has a lot of plot holes.

    I loved Joel and Ellie and their bond... which is quickly killed one in this one just so we can switch to horrible characters that we are forced to play with and “love”. Or understand at least. The problem is, I don’t. I don’t understand nor love them. Imagine Nadine killing Nathan and they you play half the game as her and the game telling you it was as it should be. The graphics, sound desing and music are spot on, the acting its very good, whats drag this game its the story and the slow phase in some parts of the game, hitting the 12hs i felt like doing the same, new area - explore - loot - rinse - repeat. The end its so upseting, its look like all the character built in the previous game was forgotten. Tommy and Joel looks like total diferent characters their goals, personality and motivation are 180 degrees from the 1st part.… Expand

In game business it's like ages! I have no idea what reviewers are thinking giving this game a perfect score, but only this point makes the game undeserving it in my book. The mechanics are outdated as hell. Nihil novi sub sole.

    The plot. Oh my God, this is the worst plot that I have ever seen in the video game. How someone was willing to pay for all of the technology, mocap and graphical quality just to present such awful story is beyond me. Talking about wasted money. It would be better to just throw it in the dumpster. Bad graphics would suit this dumpster fire better, the game would be at least consistent in being crappy. Now it looks even more bizzare, having good garphics, but no overall quality.

I'll start with the positives by saying that the game is visually stunning, sounds great, is rock solid mechanically, and has a bevy of difficulty & quality of life options that make the game easily accessible to practically everyone. However... the story is an absolute **** I can forgive killing Joel, I don't like it obviously, but it gives the game a strong (if somewhat overused & predictable) narrative drive. But the constant jumping back and forth between the present & the events that happened after the end of the first game kill any semblance of a consistent pace. Putting you in the shoes of Joel's killer was an interesting move, but hurt the drive to play the game (especially since they did it at roughly the halfway point of the game, when you knew who & what she was - starting the game with her, culminating in Joel's death, would've been a better move, imo [and, yes, I know - that would've necessitated a flashback at the end of Abby's portion of the game]). The biggest offense however, is the fact that this is ultimately a story of revenge... that doesn't end with either party dying. Instead we get Ellie sacrificing EVERYTHING for revenge, but when the critical moment comes - she doesn't take it. Nor does Abby kill her. Making the game's narrative not just poorly executed, but hollow as well. Sadly the game is a grievous disappointment, not in spite of its mechanical & visual glory, but because of it. It's such a glaring difference in quality between the technological aspects of the game & the narrative, that the narrative's shortcomings become impossible to ignore.… Expand

The story forces you to make some of the worst choices possible along a very, very linear pathway, and then purposefully making you feel bad for doing it, despite the fact they give you no choices, no alternatives whatsoever. The gameplay and graphics are solid enough, but those are bare necessities, not a feature. What makes things even worse is that not only was the game leaked, but all the leaks turned out to be worse than what was described. I will not go into spoilers here, but if you're looking for a game with endearing characters and gripping revenge stories, I recommend playing something like No More Heroes 2 over this game.… Expand

Many parts of its campaign are throw to the table as a puzzle, in which the player is forced to constantly endure flashbacks...     40% of the game is spent with one of the worst characters ever thought up. This combined with Druckmann's self inserts, characters doing stupid things, and a nonsensical plot, make this game a horrible experience and one incredibly disconnected from everything that made the first game great.

    I am a fan of the first game. i played every dlc and the main story about 10 times. i was looking forward to this game for a long time and now this.

    The game looks nice, stunning even; but that's about it. It's a snuff film masquerading as a game on a console. Zombies now just a cameo and purposeful and hateful alteration of a beautiful story which was about the good but flawed and tragic nature of mankind. All to fit an agenda. I saw this coming with clear corporate manipulation of reviews and supression of honest criticism.

    Sadly the story could not live up to the standards of the first one. The gameplay is the same as the first one for the most part but even that wasn't as good (the AI and the map layout is much worse). Overall HUGE disappointment.

Why would there be THIS many people upset over the game? The recent Final Fantasy 7 Remake quite literally split the fanbase in two, but look at the userscore...

    The writing in this game feels like a fan fic written by a secret third party, who knows nothing about writing for video games, let alone The Last Of Us, but was given a platform to push their agenda. The choices made by established characters completely goes against everything we know about them and what they've said or done before.

    Gameplay takes a backseat to all the agenda, especially when they have to get such Schindler's List-tier masterpiece lines like "bigot sandwich" across. Also thought it was a terrible design choice to have a guitar strumming minigame, to thematically tie with the world and characters, but no golf minigame.

    Oh, and what even happened with the whole infection/Ellie being immune? This is so obviously only written for one purpose: agenda.    … Expand

    Story was a flop though and one of the worst game story continuations in history of Gaming. They literally slapped fans of the original with their agenda. But even when not counting the agenda it's a bad story overall.

Every decision made by these characters feels forced and out of reason in relation to the last game and it forces you to watch without even giving the option to change it. Aeverything you can learn about this world you learn only from notes you find in corpses. It is like hello from 2007 year in 2020.
    P.S. I was laughing my ass of when i was fighting with enemies and three pregnant women came to me with shotguns and started fighting with me.     Here, in the sequel, the main characters feel "out of character" because their decisions in don't line up with the prequel. Character conversations feel forced and cringey.
    After a certain point you just want to put down the controller and stop playing. The graphics and technical details are amazing but you just want to skip the whole story and dialoges.

    This is coming from someone who loved the story of the first game.
    It's sad to see naughty dog in a state like this. I've always had high regards for older naughty dog titles but the way the company has chosen makes me rethink ever supporting them in future games.
    I feel let down.
    The story as a whole feels cheap and the ending makes things pointless.

    If you don't care game stories and want to play a game with great graphics and gameplay ported over from the last of us 1, this game is perfect for you.
    If you were looking for an experience with the story like the first game, stay away from this game.

    The shiny new graphics and game mechanics are meaningless next to the titanic screw ups that are the games story, and characters.

    The Writers of this game have taken a giant Sh*t in their hands and then rubbed it into the faces of every single person who was a fan of the pervious game (which was stellar because of its story and characters mainly Joel and Ellie).

    Both Ellie and Joel have been gutted and disrespected as characters beyond what i thought was possible. I have no words for what they did to Joel, it beggars belief that they thought this was a good idea. Testament to the utterly talentless writing team.

    Ellie used to be a solid, fun, hopeful and optimistic character who was a brilliant foil to Joel's grim acceptance of fate, and the dynamic between the two characters in the Original game was wonderful to watch, and was what gave the ORIGINAL game its spark. In this... She is a hollowed out, fundamentally different character from what she was (And supposedly only 5 years has gone by meaning she is now only 19...).

    The fact that they made her a lesbian is not a flaw in of itself, (despite there being clear evidence of her being straight in the original). But it is a clear indication that the writing team not only did not understand her character, and so forced her into a role that was not made for Ellie, but shows that creating a compelling story that was loyal to what came before was in the back of their mind compared to pushing their own politics and agenda.

    Abby is one of the worst things about this game, as is almost everything to do with her story. The flaws are too extensive to tell here, but the fact that they wanted us to empathise with this androgynous character vacuum, is laughable. and that they made Joel go out the way he did just makes me angry.

    Even the message of the story is horrible. The whole idea that "Killing Begats Killing" was already done in the First Game, and was executed so much better. Gone is the clever and engaging contrast of violence and horror of the World against the moments of Joy and Human interaction that made the first game so great.
    The opening cutscene from the Original when Sarah dies carries more weight and emotion than the entire of the second Game.

    All in all, this is a game i have been looking forward to for years. The original was my favourite game of all time, and i now look back on it with a bitter taste in my mouth. This game had SO much potential, it could have done almost anything, and what they decided to do, out of the millions of possibilities was probably one of the worst.

    I hope Naughty Dog suffers from this, and i hope they fire the imbeciles behind its creation, especially Druckmann.

If you ever played the first Last Of Us and fell in love with the story and characters, then it’s best to steer away from this game and act as if it never came into existence. Graphics And visuals were amazing, but do we not expect that from Naughty dog already? We all expected the graphics to be stunning. Gameplay wasn’t anything groundbreaking. Still picks up the same mechanics from the first one just a bit more refined. This too was also expected from Naughty Dog.     Espere con ansias este juego jugue la primera parte hace 2 años pero de igual forma es muy bueno, pero matar repentinamente al protagonista del juego en media hora es muy muy Tonto, quiero decir como Joel siendo un Veterano en la supervivencia confía junto a Tommy en un grupo de desconocidos para llegar y decir sus nombres como si nada, desde el primer momento se sentía la tensión de que no era bueno. Además de que te hacen jugar con el Asesino de un personaje importante y hacerte luchar contra el protagonista es demasiado ridículo, sobre todo la historia es muy mala y aburrida ( me divertí mucho más en los flashbacks de ellie que en todo el juego, no es broma.)entiendo el mensaje de que la venganza es mala, pero amigo! De eso se trata el juego y de haber sido así por que asesinar a joel? Y hacerte recorrer medio mapa con Ellie asesinando cientos de personas para quea al final dejes a nuestro objetivo escapar como si nada. _. Estamos hablando de la persona que que Asesino a tu padre, tu tío, tu amigo y casi asesino a tu novia embarazada y que te arranque los dedos cuando tu pasatiempo es tocar guitarra . _. Estamos hablando de la persona que hizo el miedo de Ellie realidad, quedarse sola , ya que hasta Dina se fue de la casa con su hijo, como es posible esto? , sinceramente los flashbacks del juego fueron lo mejor sin duda, además de que me hicieron llorar al estar más tiempo con Joel como un padre divirtiéndose junto a Ellie. In the attempted process of asserting itself as a thesis on hate, this installment unfortunately only succeeds in displaying the shallower and all-too-familiar tenets ofThe Last of Us Part 2 is everything you might fear from the sequel to the acclaimed original installment from Naughty Dog, but it is unfortunately lacking in many of the promising counterbalances the game teases. In the attempted process of asserting itself as a thesis on hate, this installment unfortunately only succeeds in displaying the shallower and all-too-familiar tenets of aggravating pacing and moral and emotional pedantry. The characters in this game (both new and old) morph jarringly from familiar and honest depictions of themselves into the clumsy caricatures into which Naughty Dog has shaped them; it seems not even the flawless performances by its triple-A cast could offset the disappointment of watching a beloved character act as though their scenes exist in a vacuum. The player is constantly subjected to the self-sabotaging efforts of the protagonists and antagonists alike, as each seemingly (but defensibly, given the pace of the game) forgets why they have made their own decisions. Here the studio suffers from the juvenile mistake of superimposing their priority of telling a story over the character's validity; the main characters all-too-frequently appear not as interesting players in an enthralling narrative, but more as commissioned actors under strict instruction to stick to a script that lacks focus or direction. Simultaneously, in a half-baked yet fully committed effort to elicit a response, the studio makes several bets with the player before investing exclusively on those least interesting among them: we are introduced to several original, intriguing subplots, only to be assigned exclusively to the one-dimensional and utterly unlikable main antagonist. The justifications for her exaggerated role in the story inevitably fall flat, resulting in the unanswerable questions of why such a cookie-cutter villain should take up so much of the story. There is simply not a satisfactory reason for the sustained presence of this character in this game.

    The gameplay itself offers the most consistent alleviation of what is otherwise a flawed and dissatisfying experience. Several adaptations both major and minor were made to the already-solid control scheme and general layout of the preceding game, which make the combat encounters and exploration in this game feel much more thrilling, challenging, and realistic. The added maneuverability of being able to crawl, climb, and squeeze through tight spaces undoubtedly allows the player to experience much of the panicked, adrenaline-fueled momentum of the game's various skirmishes. Nevertheless, each perfectly-executed scene is tainted by the overhanging knowledge of how unrewarding the game is capable of being whenever there isn't anything to shoot at. Interlaced between what appear to be earnest attempts to ignore the tonal appeal of the series, the story occasionally delivers the promised peerless cinematic triumphs of which this game is clearly capable; when the script backs away from the opportunity to needlessly moralize and vapidly entertain to instead focus on the characters and how they would legitimately interact, the award-winning merits of the writers, actors, and animators shine through. Unfortunately, that ray of hope is too often strangled by the script's demands for misbegotten nonsense as opposed to thoughtful progression: if you are hoping for a cohesive narrative from this game, you are much better off sticking to the trailers.

    If Naughty Dog had managed to tell a sensible, compelling story as a reward for the fans who have waited so long to hear it instead of prioritizing the cheap shock value this game is powered by, then the considerable improvements to gameplay as well as the depth of the emotional potential of the narrative would have made this the masterpiece that fans deserve. It is truly a shame that instead we have instead been distributed such a careless, disingenuous installment.    … Expand

Before the game came out, they made an interview where someone, the co-director, i think or even Neil, said ''you dont need to kill any dog, you can avoid it'' , well that was a lie, i would ask a REFUND for this if you dont like any of that.

    Moving to the game, besides Joel's decisions not making any sense when he was alive or Ellie's decision at the end by not killing the villain bcs ''OH MY GOD, Joe- oh well... that took 1 sec but now i remember, revenge bad'' was stupid after the fact she kills hundreds of people that werent involved with Joel's death directly, if she thought she ended a revenge cycle, well.... BAD NEWS, those people she killed have probably friends that would do the same thing as her, so A POINTLESS and DUMB decision, which is the fault of the writer of the game.

    Another thing i want to criticise is WHY would Neil want to self insert to spit on Joel's dead body and having sex with the villain + having a card where he thinks he is smart.
    It just made me think that there was some **** message against the fans of the 1st game or even the ex-writers, it was disrespectful.

    The only thing i can praise is the graphics and gameplay, so congrats for those that worked on that section, NOT the writers.    … Expand

Игра казалась мне достаточно хорошей, совершенно иной, но все же хорошей. До тех пор пока тебя не заставляют играть за антагониста, чья судьба тебе абсолютно неинтересна. Ты просто не можешь прочувствовать персонажа так же, как Элли. Я закрывал глаза на это, считая что: «Нууу.... зато это расширяет историю, показывает через другую призму». Но после того, как меня собственными руками заставили сражаться против персонажа, чья судьба для меня стала чём-то настолько важным и ценным, с помощью персонажа, к которому у меня полное отвращение и неприязнь, чьи чувства мне не близки так как для меня это по-прежнему кто-то чужой.... я просто перехотел играть в игру. Мне просто не нравится эта игра. Я мог бы ее ненавидеть или обожать, но она заставила меня быть к ней равнодушной, будто бы я купил игру в стиме за пару сотен. «Мне не нравится эта игра» - прочувствуйте то чувство безнадежности, звучащее из уст фаната. Эта игра стала для меня нелепым образцом плохого сиквела. Может быть это я что-то не понимаю? Может быть Собака ожидала от меня, что поиграв пару часика за какую-то мерзкую бабу, я стану ей сопереживать и вовсе перейду на ее сторону? Не знаю даже, что сказать. С одной стороны события вокруг Эбби были интересными, вот только сам персонаж мне этим больше не понравился. Эти события не хотелось бы выписывать из игры, но все же - заставлять себя играть против своей же стороны - мерзко. Кто-то скажет: «Но через геймплей за Эбби и последующую драку с Элли тебе становятся понятны ее мотивы, ты чувствуешь врага потому что смотришь его глазами». Да...… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
