    After being a huge fan of Part 1, I believed it never needed a sequel. And I was proved right unfortunately. The disrespect shown towards Joel and Ellie's characters then you're forced, FORCED to play as a new character for a greater length of the game and be expected to sympathize with her after what she does to one of the main characters? Her story felt boring, uninteresting and made meAfter being a huge fan of Part 1, I believed it never needed a sequel. And I was proved right unfortunately.     Graphically, the game is phenomenal,the attention to detail is astonishing and the best ND have ever produced. The combat is improved but still quite the same as Part 1. ND have created a narrative that will divide divide most of the fanbase. If you're a true part 1 fan, after playing this you will obviously know which one is superior.    … Expand

    Unfortunately, it does not give you any reason to play it again. It's a story based game which means that having a bad story ruins the gameplay. Graphics etc. can't save that.
    The game also has a lot of annoying interactions, buzzles are boring and b4hand praised weapon etc. animations are full and stupid.

Characters act like they are from the bad episodes of the walking dead. The fact they ended Joel so early and with just a lame excuse killed all drive to care about beating the game. Riddled with plot holes, out-of-character moments, illogical behavior, and terrible plot choices, The Last of Us Part 2 disintegrates everything that fans of the previous game loved — the relationship between Joel and Ellie. Two hours into the game, a main character is killed without context by somebody random, then you play as this random character, hunting another main character at some point, almost killing that main character. Two hours in, I no longer wanted to play the game. I found myself rooting for my “enemy” main character to kill my controlled character. Other times, I made my controlled character jump off cliffs because this is the only move that made sense, given what she did to the main characters we loved. Instead of developing the relationship between Joel and Ellie to the end, this game simply rips it to shreds in 2 hours out of a 25-30 game. Do not buy.… Expand

How a certain inteligent, cautious and beloved character changed to a dimwit and what was done to him early in the game with a golf club is uacceptable. The brutality, the disrispect... It is not how the character should end his story... Besides the graphics look good but I doncare much for it.... I still love to play The Longest Journey or Baldurs Gate. They have awefull graphics but the story is incredable... this is what counts in a videogame...… Expand

Okay I would like everyone to know that I have been familiar with this game for many years, I remember the times when I waited for the first part, I remember how it went. These were wonderful times, because I was really interested in watching the flow of events around the two main characters - Joel and Ellie. I have been waiting for this game for 5 years, really waiting and hoping that it will exceed all my expectations. I bought this game in the very first minutes, as soon as the pre-order became available. This game brought me Heartbreak, bitterness, and so on. I absolutely did not like the plot. Head writer Neil Druckmann tells us about the violence. But where was the violence at the end? Everyone has to pay for their mistakes, but did Abby pay? No, it was Jesse, Owen, Mell, and most importantly, Joel, but not her. The most disgusting thing in this game is to play for this girl, and fight with your favorite characters, who have become a family for us. I paid money for emotions, emotions that hurt me. Thank you, excellent developers, you have tried hard and spoiled the mood and emotions of many people.… Expand

    Why the **** would anyone want to buy this game when they kill off Joel by a disgusting freak of nature trans person. Also they lied in the trailers making you think Joel would have a much bigger part but nope he doesn’t. **** this game. I’m just gonna stick with part one and my uncharted games where they never did Nathan drake dirty. At least he got to have a happy ending.

    Stunning graphics and thoroughly enjoyable gameplay was all squandered by the writing and storyline of the game that was supposed to pick up where the first game drew us in at. Very disappointed in their decision with the story and nothing makes up for it or even makes me want to continue playing the game. Such a disservice to honestly, one of the gaming industry's best character.

    Game play was great, mechanics were greats, and the combat was great. Being a linear game that is submerged in its story, it really failed to deliver. Most of it has severe continuity issues as well as pointless plot points. This is the first game from ND that I did not like, and that being an understatement.

    I literally had to make an account to describe my disappointment please, i strongly urge just don’t waste your money. Don’t just don’t even think about it pretend it never existed and there was like a different tlou1 ending. Thank god i didnt get the ellie edition instead of standard just get red dead redemption 2 or god of war you wont regret a cent.     How can you take meta critic seriously?
    Most critic reviews speak little about the game itself and a lot about how "Politically brave" it is. My god has the gaming industry fallen low.

    This game is horrible. Terrible writing to the point I can only think of it as a parody of the former game.

    I play games for the story with that said this story SUCKS donkey *****. It doesn't matter that it involves gay and lesbian characters(for the people that will assumed that it does) it just wasn't a good story and that's what I play games for. Without giving any spoilers they took away the main reasons I wanted to come back to this game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you are a Last of us part 1 fans, you will feel physical pain and sick in the stomach when you play as Abby, after her brutally murder Joel(because he killed her father in part 1) within 100 mins into the game.

    Also worth mention that Joel just walk into a room full of strangers(Abby and her friends), without any hesitation or suspicious, and said to everybody, “Hey, I’m Joel.” and JUST LIKE THAT, get himself killed. :)

    Will never purchase any game from naughty dog from now on to the end of my life:)    … Expand

    I saw the spoilers beforehand but I believed that with the right context, naughty dog will pull it through. I trusted that if there was ever a developer that could weave some of those weird story choices together into something that made sense, it would be naughty dog. The choices that the characters make are just the strangest most out of place choices that feel like the writer wanted because of a story they're pushing instead of what the character would actually choose. Kurt Vonnegut once discribed writing a character and controlling their choices, it feels like you can only control them with stale rubber bands. You can pull them a little, but once you pull too much, the character breaks. It feels like almost all of the characters broke in this story. The writers seemed like they had a story in mind, then just threw characters in to fit certain roles regardless of who that character is.

    The graphics are great, the acting is great, gameplay is meh. But without a good story in a game like the last of us, all of those things matter so little. With no story, it all falls apart. This was a very sad realization because it proved to me that even great game developers like Naughty Dog can fail so miserably. I will definitely wait until after reviews to buy the next game they make.    … Expand

    3. The essence of gaming is about building empathy with the character with gameplaying and storytelling. Obviously, this game does not meet this standard at all.

    4. The promotion of this game is all about deceptive marketing, false advertisement, misleading message, and dishonest influencer content marketing. This is absolutely intolerable! This is absolutely illegal!

    While the graphics are good, everything else is horrendous. from the story to the combat its just painful to play. Feels like the 5 years in development went straight to the graphics because holy **** the story and oh boy the ending, the ending has got to be the worst I've ever seen. Massively overrated.

It takes a big ol poop on the game before that was so amazingly put together. It's so frustrating that we had to wait 7 years for this hot pile of garbage.

    My personal disappointment of this year. Really love the first part and used to play it for a while. Now this seems like a looooong movie with some interactions. The first 2 hours are really boring and slow, ordinary explorations and a few “zombies”. They really tried to dramatize the story but now it looks like a psychological thriller. Don’t recommend to anybody.

    Gameplay is intense and it's probably the most beautiful game I've seen. Also the technical mastery that naughty dog shows with how well optimized the game was for my standard PS4 is truly amazing. They avoided the jet engine sound of the original on PS3. However the story is monotonous and lacks enough focus to truly inspire any real emotion from you as a play, unlike the first game. ItGameplay is intense and it's probably the most beautiful game I've seen. Also the technical mastery that naughty dog shows with how well optimized the game was for my standard PS4 is truly amazing. They avoided the jet engine sound of the original on PS3. However the story is monotonous and lacks enough focus to truly inspire any real emotion from you as a play, unlike the first game. It reeks of a creator who believes their creative vision could have no faults. It's basically George Lucas with the prequels again. The game bandies around interesting ideas but it never truly commits to then and every time I began to feel something for the story, the game would cut to another character and completely take me out of the emotional and thought provoked place. If this were a game franchise less known for story, I could see it gaining the acclaim that games such as MGSV have even with their weakened emphasis on story. This franchise however, is completely reliant on the story and it's emotional effect on you as a player and fails to commit to the ideas it brings up enough to provide a troluly thought provoking experience. Disappointed to say the least, I hate that this game felt like a slog but it did and I can't lie. 4/10.

Love how it looks, but the clunky game play and poor Narrative of story is just a major letdown, killing off main characters who are loved and drove the story to a point has been done in the past and it has been done right many times, this game didn't do a great job with the same, I get all the hate around that but the actual dislike for the game itself stems from how the plot fails to wrap up the story in the way it should have, justifying the route they decided to go with it, if there is a 3rd installment and they can redeem themselves from the half baked writing this time around. But for now I'll not be going beyond the demo and play through's.

    Bad on the studio going rogue on the dev's and artists and forcing them through crunches by underpaying or straight up denying pay and firing off staff to keep the others in check.    … Expand

    Although the game mechanics are a clear improvement over the first one, the game's tone and story fall abysmally. I waited SOME time for this game to launch and I honestly expected better.

    Although the game wasn't a COMPLETE disappointment, ND's business practices were. Honestly I would have given it a mixed review if not for this factor.

    I was really divisive whether I should give this game a 1 for its gameplay or 0 for its entirety. But I have decided to give this a 0 anyway so people won't have to waste 25 hours into this pure garbage.
    Most of us kind of having a hunch already that Joel might be dead in this game but apparently they executed it is so poorly and the most insulting thing is that you have to play as stay puft for around 10 hours and they wanted you to care for her. How on earth could the director think of that nonsense? We played the first one and rooted for the relationship of Joel and Ellie and that's the selling point of it. And now they only throw a bit of it here and there and instead they put so much effort to show their political agenda and sacrificing a good story.
    And last but not least, for all of you that wants to keep going with the spoiler. I guarantee you it provides no satisfying ending at all.
    If they want to make a memorable game, then congrats because they have definitely made me memorize one of the biggest scam in a game franchise.
    I will stay away from any future game that you direct, Neil. You don't deserve that title.    … Expand

The gameplay didn't change that much since objectives are almost but improved since the first game. Here is the sad part, the story, as much as I wanted to paint this game worthy because it's. the sequel, I would have to trust my emotions here because I feel cheated and not to mention false advertisement wherein they showed clips that is supposedly Joel, but in reality, it's not. Maybe I forgot to check articles about the changes, but it affected me greatly. So, my rating would be as low as this.… Expand
