    This game got fantastic landscapes and city sides and some good moments in storytelling which return us to the times of the original story, but the rest is absolutely awful mostly the story because game-play is same as in the first part, but stretched for 30 hours.

    Horrible and inexplicable story, fraudulent advertising, boring repetitive gameplay, the mechanics is same as TLOU1, nothing really change. The only good thing about this game is the graphics and the acting.

    Ellie, the MC is on a quest for revenge after Joel gets killed by Abby, proceeds to kill dozens of people in her quest, and then ends up NOT KILLING THE ONE PERSON THAT SHE WANTED REVENGE ON and gets mutilated for life for her trouble and ends up alone and sulking. Nothing is resolved. Everyone ends up sad and alone. The END.

    It's like the makers of this game hates you and the world and want you to end up hating the world as much as they do and want to destroy every shred of legacy the first game had and every shred of fun you'd have. I'd give this game a negative score if I could.    … Expand

    Oddly, all this goes into the mix to make a game that looks as good as the story is awful.
    Bland gameplay, lack of environmental puzzles, horrid characters, plot holes, repetitive gunplay combined with stealth and Abby-Shaped Meat Monsters are the order of the day here, and, presiding over all of this is the ravaged corpse of what was established in the first game. All the characters you loved, vandalised.

    A clear lesson that people do not want to be preached to, or to have their games made by idiots who listen to misandristic witches.

    It's funny though, how a game that focuses on looks above everything else, was made by a group of so-called feminists. You'd think they would know better.

After over 21 hours of gameplay, I have to say they did a good job on making the game engaging and fun, However, the story is lackluster at best. Look, I don't care about the morality of the characters. It doesn't matter if you have to see Ellie and Joel as good people or not. We are attached to them, and we literally see Ellie grow up in front of our eyes. How they handled her story and fate was a disgrace. It felt like I was teased for 21 hours and I didn't orgasm. Nothing about the ending was satisfying. Everything that happens to Ellie just complies together to one **** sandwich after the other. the revenge plotline is as old as time. I think the best game that did the revenge killing was the god of war 3. This is about a character who finds and kills his father, and when you kill his father you get to beat the hell out of him however long you want to. Then the game ends, and the main character has a ****ty life, due to his poor choices. the ending for last of us 2, nothing like that. There is no satisfaction, nothing. It's not only just sad, but it felt meaningless. I still hate Abby, no matter how much they try to humanize her. It's like trying to explain the actions of Micha in red dead or the actions of fountain from Bioshock. Like yes, everyone is the hero in their own story. But goddammit Ellie is our hero, Shes the one we are rooting for. she should have died on that beach with Abby. Making her live a bleak life with everyone she loves dead or hating her is just cruel. I'm disappointed in this game.… Expand

    If we compare it with the first one, its a shame, a garbage. Its just the main stream trying to push an agenda into your throat. you ll find, homosexual relationship, abortion, gender, metaphor with the church, and all progressive stuff. I wait this game for many years, because the lovely story of ellie and joel, and they over it in the first hours of gameplay. Save your money.

    Let me start by saying the graphics and environment are fantastic. Unfortunately that is the only thing good about this game. the story is absolutely garbage and the completely unacceptable. Shame on naughty dog and sony for trying to inject woke politics into a story at the expense of a great game universe. Naughty dog is dead.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After playing the game and watching others play it, I must say that this game is probably the biggest letdown in gaming for me personally. This game was actually so bad to me that I created an account to express my displeasure.

    Admittedly, the game does have some good aspects to it, good graphics, VA, music, and the gameplay is good if you enjoyed the first TLOU gameplay. However, if you found the gameplay of the first game to be mediocre or bad, do not expect anything new from this game, most of the changes are purely cosmetic.

    The problems:
    Before I get into the atrocious story, I want to first talk about some of the glitches that occur in the game that many people seem to overlook. Kill/execution animations do not play out correctly (models would seemingly disappear), camera problems during interactions, and not being able to fire my gun during scripted segments of the game. Just to name a few.

    This game also has many "walking simulator" areas, just walking without end and nothing really happening. It starts to take away from the story and bore the player.

    I also wanted to discuss the discrepancy in the trailers compared to the game. In the trailer, you will see Joel with a big beard and looking much older than he does in-game, this is because they wanted to make it look like he has a bigger role in the game. Most of the scenes that feature Joel in the trailer are flashbacks in the game and looks younger in-game. There is also one scene in the trailer where Joel catches up with Ellie, in the game, it's a completely different person. Some pretty shady stuff if you ask me.

    The story is the biggest problem of this game. In TLOU 1, the story was the focal point of the game, the created bond between Joel and Ellie to form a father-daughter relationship. Part 2 throws that everything that TLOU 1 created for shock value (killing Joel), to make way for a character named Abby. If you liked the first game for its story at all you will probably not like her as she is Joel's killer. You are then forced to play as her for about roughly 60% of the game (25 hours long by the way) in the game's attempt to make you sympathize with her. If you are someone like me who wanted her dead, that also sucks for you because Ellie's revenge campaign against Abby ends in sparing her life while losing two fingers in the process.

    This game has a basic revenge story that uses Joel's death to start the entire story tries to sell the "revenge is a vicious cycle" trope and how people should try and seek forgiveness in others regardless of what they have done. This would be slightly better if Abby was in any way likeable but still, it is a weak plotline.

    This bad story also has more problems given bad character development, plot holes, and holes in the decision making of a character.

    A few examples:
    - Joel and Tommy who have survived at least 3 decades follow random strangers into a trap after saving Abby.
    - Ellie, in a cutthroat post-apocalyptic world, spares Abby after killing countless amounts of people including some of her own men. Ellie will even execute Abby in the aquarium fight if you mess up but has a change of heart at the end?
    - Dina, who was Ellie's partner for a while, abandons Ellie at the end of the game for no apparent reason.
    - Tommy suffers a gunshot to the head and survives despite being in the middle of nowhere with little medical treatment (granted, I am ok with this happening, but still is a plot hole nonetheless).
    - A member of an opposing faction saves Abby from certain death.
    - They give Abby many superficial opportunities to look like a good person.

    I am aware that TLOU 1 had plot holes as well, but there were fewer instances and it did not affect character development.

    What the developers do not realize is that yes, there are two sides to every coin, but many people have already picked their side. You can't just have Abby kill Joel and think that she will be redeemed by showing off all the good stuff she has done.

    The worst part about this whole thing is that I personally didn't think that The Last of Us needed a sequel, and this game trying to justify its existence makes it that much worse.

    In my honest opinion, I think this game is a 4-5/10, but the people controlling Metacritic are fixing the reviews so I'm making this a 0/10.

    Please do not buy this game, it will show developers that they can get away with **** writing and little to no improvements to a game just because its predecessor was a masterpiece.    … Expand

    Really disappointing! I agree that games need more diversity in them. But TLOU 2 just slaps you in the face with it, the story itself is just really bad and makes no sense.

    Best thing about it's predecessor was when you finished the game and the credits rolled you knew you would be playing it again in the future. I don't feel I will be playing this game again.

    I expected more from Naughty Dig.

While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.

    They hired a **** 14 yo to make the "moral dilemmas" in this game about revenge, and at the end you just left the **** girl who killed Joel scaped (a very out of character death and a pretty stupid one btw), after kill like 8 **** people just because "revenge is not good".

I’m writing this for every normal person considering of spending their hard earned money on this: don’t. Go on YouTube and watch the thousands of videos explaining why this game fails as a whole. The lesson is flat and childish. The game tortures you with its characters and payoffs. It actively tries to get you to stop playing. I don’t even care enough to elaborate , I want to stop talking about this. Off the top of my head I can give you 20 better ways the story could have gone. At the end of the day, this game makes you sad not because of the story, but because you know that the future of this franchise we all hold so dear to our hearts is irrevocably changed for the worse.     I was so hyped for this because I thought this game would at least be comparable to it's predecessor, but it really isn't.
    Killing off one of the main characters that the first game is literally built on is just not a good idea.
    Trying to force sympathy for a completely new character in just a few minutes of cutscenes just doesn't work.
    It just feels that they intentionally made this game bad just to annoy the fans.
    Making a revenge based story where the protagonist doesn't even get the revenge? Who thought this was a good idea?
    I am really disappointed.
    For the love of god, don't buy this game. It's honestly just a waste of money. Making this game was just a waste of time. Seven years just for this? I didn't even mention the glitches. Save your money for something actually good, please.    … Expand

She just acts casually and always composed throughout the story. The fact that Joel entered that shed casually is a disgrace on its own, let alone the fact how he died. He didn't even know why he died. We didn't know, for something like 17 hours. We had to play with the character we hated for 8 hours. Characters were shallow, dialogue was bad. Gameplay and graphics is not everything Naughty Dog but story is. You might have a really flawed game but if the story is good, people will tolerate it. But if your story is something like a fanfiction, well you know what happens if that is the case. You had an amazing universe to expand on and you completely ruined it with this game. It seems you didn't even understand what made the first game special and what made it work. And that ending, oh god... Did any of you read this script before you green lit it? Anyway, I hope now you guys realized paying for reviews for your incredibly badly written game won't save you. If you want to kill his character off fine, but give his character the respect he EARNED the way the story went about it is a complete mess of incompetent writing. The ending is even worse than all the leaks. A revenge tale that ends with no revenge and leaves everyone playing confused and unsatisfied. The way the story completely annihilated Ellie’s character is one of the biggest disappointments of the gaming industry. These story writers should never be allowed to work on another game again. It is an absolute tragedy that after seven years this is what fans got. Shame on all of you.… Expand

It's been done so many times and it almost always backfires. But some writers will never learn I guess. Also, tricking the fans by showing a whole different story in the trailers and making them hyped up about it is a real **** move. Я нормально отнёсся (ещё в 2013 году), что Элли не гетеросексуалка, потом я заметил на горизонте видную мускулистую "даму" - Эбби, уже гетеросексуальную, но с явными признаками феминизма. Последней каплей для написания столь низкого отзыва стал, ВНИМАНИЕ, ТРАНСГЕНДЕР ПОДРОСТОК С АЗИАТСКОЙ ВНЕШНОСТЬЮ!!! Вы серьёзно?!!! Игра и так прописано темой с меньшинствами, а тут все в одном флаконе, осталось только на инвалидную коляску посадить этого подростка и он пройдет собеседование в любою европейской компании на любую позицию (а может его уже посадили за инвалидное кресло, я пока, к сожалению игру не допрошел, сил моральных все меньше и меньше).     Storywise this game is completely terrible and spits on what made the last game great, Joel and Ellie. Considering that this is practically a (somewhat) interactive film as the gameplay is monotonous the story is the only thing that could save this game. Overall, extremely disappointing, I couldn't bring me to play after one of the character's deaths

This game is full of garbage writing and left-wing degeneracy and political agendas. No wonder this game is getting banned in some Muslim countries or getting certain disgusting sex scenes cut out completely in others.

    Never have I ever seen a game with such poor writing. I’m a writer myself, and seeing such awful writing makes me want to gouge my own eyes out. Triple A games are a **** joke, don’t buy into this **** excuse for a game. I can only hope this game is buried in the sands of time, never to be spoken of again.

They never said anything about it. That's when you know it's really **** up situation that bootlickers don't mention it and pretends it doesn't exist. And whining that negative reviews are wrong and ignoring and saying they ain't allowed to feel traumatized, anger, and hate.
    Oh and bootlickers most likely don't care.
    They can like it, but doesn't mean I have to like it. Vice versa for them.
    I'm not sure why they're ignoring Ellie's trauma and PTSD will be having.

Especially pissed me off when Joel dies because Ellie is banging her **** crush. Like are you serious they are forcing some love story in a game that has nothing to with that, it’s Ellie and Joel, there’s one god damn scene of them talking in the game how pathetic is that. I haven’t played more than 2 hours and I already am pissed off at Ellie and naughty dog, maybe if she wasn’t smoking weed and scissoring her gf Joel would still be alive to read this comment. And when it comes to last of us, everyone knows that the story is very important. First of all, the most frustrating issue was that the game attempted to empathize with the killer Abby after Joel's brutal and tortured murder. At the very beginning of the game, they forced the most hated character in the game for 10 hours. During this time, Abby's endearing efforts were also noticeable. Abby loves dogs, helps people, and she love a guy so??. I just hated these moves. and someone other than dozens of problems; love triangles.. Ellie loves Dina but Dina is pregnant from Jesse, Abby loves Owen but Mel is pregnant from Owen.. such a good netflix story. In short, all of these attempts to have empathy only angered me. That father-daughter relationship between Joel and Ellie can be called classic for some people, but it was something that made me happy. That character development and dialogues in the first game enabled this. In the second game, they destroyed it and couldn't replace it with something else. Finally, when you look at it, you can see that the only thing you encounter is empathy porn.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
