    From a technical perspective (considering graphics, sound and scale), this game is an incredible achievement. But, this series is absolutely pointless without its top notch storytelling, that we seen in the first game. Its what defines the whole experience. The Last of Us.     I want to be very clear about why I'm giving a game with some of the best production i've ever seen a zero. You have to ask yourself why you would do that to a game that has probably the best graphics ever, best cut scenes, amazing art, etc? I've never played anything that feels as contemptful towards it's audience as this. If the goal of the studio was to piss off its audience and make them feel a sense of nihilism, then they've succeeded in that regard, so maybe by their standards this game is doing what it set out to do, but after playing all night, i don't even know when I'll go back to finish it. Graphics were good but still a bit underwhelming when looking at the supposed original footage. I will be getting a refund.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really don't get what they're trying to do here. Yes, the game's mechanics are stunning. The graphics are next gen, the gameplay is amazing. But all those aside, the way the story is written is awful. I have thousands of people who agree with me too. The story is just written so badly and sometimes doesn't make sense. The "scenes" especially are horrendously written, no proper send off to the characters, just bam! death. The game also daila to make me feel as trying to understand abby while playing her. It just doesn't feel right cause you are forced into that one awful path of story. Most importantly, the finale is the most disappointing sequence of events I have experienced in my life. Talk about having a journey and almost fulfilling your mission but just a flashback makes you stop. I really don't get what the developers were doing so bad that didn't capture the mood and charm of the first game. Then suddenly the fight just stopped like nothing ever happened? That's some next level child cartoon cliche ending there. In summary, this by far is one of the worst story-driven game out there, only being carried by the next generation graphics it offered. Always remember that graphics are nothing without a well written story, Naughty Dog.… Expand

    Amazing gameplay, nice looking graphics. But with such unsatisfying story line nothing there is enjoyable. After 2 hours of game I did not want to continue it. Just checked the ending on the internet to see if it will get better, but it does not. The game is far beyond recovery and nothing can make it better.

    -...everything else. The gameplay is servicable at best (the combat gets tedious after a few showdowns, it is basicly the same as in the first part and the "new" jump ""mechanic"" is laughable in terms of uses and how it actually feels)
    -Oh dear god, the tresure that is the story of this game. I dont know where to begin, without any spoilers the story is a all about "revenge is bad" and nothing else. There are a few side elemnents of "love", and "love" is in huge quotations and some touch of "this guy that you killed about 5 hours ago, that you dont even know their name anymore, was a good guy". But the aspect of "revenge is bad" is just too overwhelming to the point where the game could be three big words saying ""revenge is bad" and it would deliver the same message.
    The ending disastrous, plot lines dont make sense and the big "reveal" about motivations of the main bad guy is something out of bad fanfiction from 2013
    The only good part about the story are flashbacks but even those were sometimes lackluster

    Overall it is a disappointing and sad excuse attempt at a sequel    … Expand

And it fails miserably, not only at providing that experience, but even at expanding gameplay, which should have been obvious after so many years of development.

And it fails miserably, not only at providing that experience, but even at expanding gameplay, which should have been obvious after so many years of development.

    I'll start with gameplay. Well, there's nothing revolutionary to witness. Most story-based games show similar mechanics. In its core, TLOU2 is quite fun - but it's nothing we haven't seen, nothing we haven't played and the challenge is really there. PS4 limitations are visible and where graphics are more than decent it's obvious that the game will come to PS5 in its full glory sometime later. Unfortunately most aspects like movement, physics, shooting are all surpassed even by GTA V, a game almost as old as the original TLOU.

    Gameplay is definitely not the weak point of this game. It holds up okay and I doubt anyone expected more. However, here we can see the first sign of why the initial reviews were so undeserved.

    Story is its own disaster. As most fans would tell you, the game does almost everything to stray as far away from expectations as possible. Is this deliberate? Maybe, who knows. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. I will not be going into details as I don't want to spoil and you can read it elsewhere, anyway. One thing I will say though: forcing the player to play for hours as the killer of many's favorite character of all time and then failing to give any sort of katharsis to the player, to other characters, only serves to make the experience as unpleasant and ultimately pointless as possible. Where I've been waiting for epic adventures and chalacter development, we've reseived GoT season 8 - like disappointment, deaths and no resolution to whatever the game started or hinted at.

    The story really is a car wreck and I feel like I've wasted many hours that I should have put into something else.

    Critic reviews are baffling to me. It's unbelievable how a game like that can score 100s so easily. There is absolutely zero material upon which it is based to give the game even a 90, although I can imagine someone's experience may be different to mine. But there's just not enough substance.

    And you know what? For what I believe, it's really cool that the game involves LGBT characters. It's only painful that the way they have been introduced is so negative, that they are completely unlikable, but due to how prominent tat was, it will likely only serve to make the LGBT community more alienated than it already is. It's a real shame and the studio should fu*king apologize for that.    … Expand

Apart of the forced controversy created by ND about their Agenda, the need of an “opene mind” to play and enjoy I must to say that I never mind any more If Joel dies, I Ellie is gay, if Abby is a genetic photosop male with a girl layer mask on his/her face and the graphics are better than ever and so.

    After 15 hours of gameplay at survival mode (I made four runs of the first part at grounded mode) I would be terrible bored playing if this were about Ellie and Joel, the actuals nor the modified, trying to save the babe of Ellie with a non letal vacune on him.

    Naugthy Dog is just the same since Uncharted One, an older, boring, saddist CGI that love to treat bad to the gamers that look for a real deal playing at max. The same boring scenes, or you shot kill everyone or you just get the trigger scape with a fast run.

    TLOU2 is a boring game, with boring plots, nor one of them gets you on the shoes of anyone, you just don’t enjoy any situation. Maybe the Seattle underground was the best for me.

    Easier than the first TLOU this game do not offered to me any kind of interest or motivation to play till the end. It’s terrible long, unnecessary long, but having spend 15 hour to get to the 10% of the story knowing that the next 80% I will be forced to play with Abby, a ramdon NCP which destiny I won’t ever care is a No Man I’m done Sir now!

    This is the worst plot story ever made, supported under weaks fundaments like:
    Joel: Omg I lied to Ellie
    Ellie: He lied to me
    Dina: You lied to me about your immunity
    Jess: You lied to me about you were pregnant
    Ellie: Agree
    Abby: agree but about the ex of my boyfriend

    This is stupid, ridiculous, shilly, lazy, boring.

    But forgetting the plots, the characters, the storytelling, the gameplay is just the older boring Naughty Dogs it's been doing long time ago.

    I forgot it for Uncharted 4 and TLOU 1 because the plot and the characters and their quest and conflict, but thanks to this twists I can say that the big problem is that ND loves to treat very very bad to the gamers and that’s because I rank to 0.

This game is just...bad there is no going around it,i have made an account specificly because of this,i have played the last of us 1 and loved the game and once ive heard the last of us 2 is coming out i was excited but then the leak came out,i got a little dissappointed but i prayed to god they'd fix the game,they didn't,the graphics are great but that's the only saving grace for this game,the developers didn't go for a good game it seems but what has become the modern standard,trying to get the inclusion pass,and that's most positive scores,the gameplay is bad,shooting hasn't changed or improved,the puzzles have somehow gotten worse and VERY quickly become repetitive,the AI still behaves like a blind russian drunk on vodka told to keep guard,the characters get BUTCHERED,if you have played the first game you may know of the scene where Joel and Ellie are driving and ellie asks to help the man but Joel knows its a trap,that's from years in the apocalypse but in the second part just goes "my name is joel here is my brother nice guns you have pal" and that leads to some nostalgia of wii golf,ellie becomes a character i despised and abby a character you have to play as,is equally as bad but they desperately try to make you like her by her petting dogs but ellie mostly killing watch dogs,and the plot becomes a really bad revenge plot,and at the end ellie doesnt even kill abby even after abby killed joel the man who chose ellie over a cure for humanity,and that makes NO sense what so ever and they try to go for the cliche le revenge bad thing.most of the people defending this game say you're homophobic if you hate the game because inclusion.This game is just a waste of money from how bad it is,after so many years in waiting nothing good came out.… Expand

    The beauty of this Original game has it all regardless of sexual orientation, gender or ethnicity it worked for everyone because at the core the story did not take over a pile of crap that we are witnessing today. The Original story had a roles of CHARACTERS that you could relate to while developing EMOTIONS and TRUST over time given the harsh environment, SURVIVING not being pump up for no apparent reason. That has been obliterated and evaporated into a thin air. it is no longer the game that you have imagined, waited for several years or spent endless hours discussing it with your friends while coming up with theories of how the sequel would turn out, in my head it could have been 4 or 5 narratives to TLOU2 imagine the excitement!!

    "you will never know unless you try it", "don't judge a book by its cover" will me response to that is - knowing fully what will happen every step of this journey, eventually won't gave any satisfaction of how this game turns out to be and on another note I don't need to experience every game out there to formulate an impression of where this game is heading. "Down Hill"

    I'll say this "it gives me no pleasure that this game has been leaked but I’m happy that it saved my wallet 60 or plus dollars".

    getting that out of the way. here is what I think, knowing that I haven't played the game but apparently "Neil Druckmen" seems to think it will satisfy everyone, so really even himself is theorizing it in his own way.

    the man might've had the idea of the original game but the work, sweat and time of veterans within that studio has given it all to bring us an amazing game and would have been a probably a decent sequel if they were still there. Now they've left because questions are invalid, questions are toxic to the work place, questions are irrelevant to the "CAUSE" and those questions if ever raised you are a "homophobic". and all they are left with is a kindergarten staff, did they deliver on technical & visual aspects I bet they did. I have played so many games that would lack one thing or another but remember this is a sequel that has been tarnished by its story. this studio is a has been now, WHY?

    This game has turned to a one man show to fulfill his destiny primarily saying "my way or the high way". look here, history is plain and simple "Amy Hennig" was pushed out, "Bruce Straley" is no longer there being burnt out of working and needs a break and at last the old crew has jumped ship, if you ask me this is a pattern of abusive behavior of a man who wants to be the alpha, dominate and enforce his vision. Probably he'd say in his head"I worked hard for it, I deserve this, this is my time to shine".

    the game talks about revenge and in my opinion: this man is greedy and opportunistic schmuck, working for him or with him must feel like being in one of the nine circles of hell, that he'll do whatever it takes to get a head, listen this not for the sake of neutralizing and normalizing the field for "LGBTQ" or standing up for a community, it just happened to be out there it’s a part that he plays in at the moment. Once the spell has dries out or warn off to him at least he'll jump to the next one whatever it may be.    … Expand

And Ellie was turned into a hypocritical killer who kills almost innocent people, but lets the guilty one go. The screenwriter must be fired for killing this series of games. Technically, the game, for all its beauty, is illogical (a hammer that breaks with three blows and a knife that doesn't break, stupid enemies, and part of the game for Abby without the eternal knife).… Expand

    -Gameplay is exactly the same as the last game, pretty much nothing change and no, adding a "jump button" doesn't make your game any more enjoyable.
    -Old beloved characters get destoyed for the sake of introducing new ones but they're just impossible to sympathize with.

The game is beautiful in its presentation, I was stoned when I played this many times I would stand jaw agape at the picturesque portraits laid before me. The story however is flat out silly. It could have been done so much better but I guess this is what happens when 70% of your original team quits when you treat them so poorly. Literally only bought a PS4 PRO to play "The last of us remastered" and have been waiting forever for "The last of us 2". But i will not be buying it, since the only thing that companies can understand is money, so that is how I will communicate.

The graphics are a step up, but the gameplay feels monotonous. There are strange mini-games and constant swapping between characters which kind of feels out of place.

    Beyond the gameplay comes a feeling of forced inclusion as the story rips apart everything that the first game built up. The beautiful strong character dynamics shared by Ellie and Joel is destroyed in this game (literally). Only to be replaced by seemingly forced indoctrination into an LGBT community where transsexual, and homosexual ideals take center stage. Even to include an extremely perverse scene of sexual intercourse between two males. This game serves no purpose beyond pushing an agenda and destroying the legacy of an amazing game.     A lot of the promotiona footage was altered to make you think you are geting Joel but in reality they ither replaced a character that is actually there in the ingame cutscene or "aged up" Joel and Ellie to make it look like it's not a flashback. In reality Joel get's killed in a completly retarded way cause Niel Druckman wanted to make torture p0rn. The rest of the game is all abaut revenge but in the end we don't even get that cause Ellie decides not to kill the golfer that beat Joel to death cause... revege is bad? This is after she killed a ton of other people in her persuit of revenge but she randomly decides that the one who actually killed Joel can live. I'm suuuure this has nothing to do with the fact that Hulk golfer and "deffinitly not Niel Druckman" **** in the game.

    The "game" parts are good so i guess it's technicly better than COD and whatnot but this story deserves a dedicated "storyless mode".

    Overall, this is a bad movie sequal on a good but not amazing game skeleton.

    When the game play is walking/sneaking between point a and b and then watch some cut scenes, maybe kill someone it gets stale quick. Which is what this game is.
    Swinging from ropes isn't something new to boast about, pitfall and DK have been doing it for over 30 years. The killing in this game is pretty much what you've seen in other killing games for the past 10 years as well. The only new thing this game really brings is the trans character, who was mocapped by someone not matching the body type at all, and is **** on for most of the game and even dead named.
    They tried for so many brownie points for their game and it just fails in all of those categories. It's almost like they used a dart board to figure out what buzzwords they wanted to use in the game to make it appeal to as many young people as possible, but in doing so made a pretty meh game at the end of the day.
    Finally let's also not forget about they bait and switching their trailers and ads for the game, by replacing a very important character from the ads with some other guy we care way less about in the game.
    This game doesn't deserve praise. It sure as hell doesn't deserve those bought 10s. It's a middle of the barrel game that tarnishes how good the first one was. Oh also enjoy like maybe 70 zombies for the entire game about zombies    … Expand

    Okay, so what's the long version...

    The Last of Us (what we now call "part 1") was an amazing game! I purchased a PS4 just for that game (I wait for the remastered version and it was totally worth it)! The game had excellent graphics, fantastic sound (effects and music), and absolutely solid gameplay. However, where The Last of Us really shined was in the fantastic story line. The best games are the ones which make you feel like a participant in a really good movie, and that's exactly what The Last of Us did. You really cared about Joel and Ellie, and couldn't wait to find out what happens next.

    We got the answer.

    So, let's be fair and start with the GOOD.
    Like part 1, the sequel provides beautiful graphics and level environments. Likewise, sounds is also good. The gameplay is also still solid with some decent improvements that add to the game. And that's about it.

    Now for the BAD.

    As I said, the story is EVERYTHING. For about the first couple of hours, the store was good. Then, a train wreak happens. Joel is killed in one of the stupidest scenes I've ever seen! After saving Abby from a horde of zombies and returning her home, they all walk into a back room and all of a sudden, Abby shoots him in the leg. She then has her men put a tourniquet on his leg, and then immediate proceeds to beat him to death with a golf club in front of Ellie (yes, it's as stupid as it sounds!). It was like one of the devs was watching Game of Thrones re-runs and decided they wanted to have a shocking and unexpected death scene for a main character because... reasons. And Joel, the guy who went through heII and back to save Ellie, now just sits there and takes it. It was little more than shock-porn and leaves the player rolling their eyes and wondering if they even want to continue playing. The story is a complete mess from that point forward, and the player is often pigeon-holed into doing stuff (often stuff that they really don't want to do) just to move the story forward.

    And this is why the game is such a complete failure. In the first game, you cared about Joel and Ellie and wanted to see what happens next. The gameplay and story were compelling and, like a great book, you were hard-pressed to put it down. The one, however, burns all that to the ground within the first two hours of gameplay. You quickly get to a point where you simply don't care about the story anymore. Joel died pointlessly, and now Ellie is on a quest for revenge (honestly, there was more depth in John Wick's quest for vengeance!). So what happens? She kills everyone involved EXCEPT Abby... she let's her live in what can only be described as a giant middle-finger to fans of the first game.

    And that's assuming you actually play to the end. I would be willing to bet that most people will only play a few hours, and then never finish the game because, when they think about firing it up again, they are like, "Meh."    … Expand

    1: graphics
    2: More dynamic ways to progress through the levels

    But beyond this this ,
    it is possibly one of the worst sequels to a great game due to various reasons:
    1:The Last of us was a game that received universal acclaim due to it's great storytelling , which this game completely abandons , there is no character development, joel's death is executed so poorly , it seems that the writers just forgot who he was in the first game.

    2: Joel's killer abby is simply a forced insertion of a character that serves as a hook for the rest of the game's theme (revenge).We are then forced to play as her and her backstory in order to sympathize with her, which is just lazy writing because this formula can be applied to any character that joel had something to do with in the game.

    3:Finally after the gruesome killing spree that ellie goes on in order to avenge joel;s death , in the end she forgives abby , which just leaves the players with no sense of accomplishment .

    This game is just an excuse for a political message that neil druckmann had been wanting to give for a very long time. It clearly shows :
    1: Neil druckmann being inspired by anita sarkeesian(a toxic feminist)

    2: His views on female characters in video games being sexualized (which is actually how women look like imo rather than a male bodybuiler lookalike abby).

    3:Forced sex scene of abby and owen (which is neil druckmann's self insert) and looks more like two guys pegging each other .

    4:This double standard that natural women with curvy bodies are bad but gay/lesbian/trans porn is good.ex: Sony censoring many anime games from japan but allowing abby and owen's sex scene

    Overall this game is a reminder that toxic feminism , sjw politics and woke agenda are bad for any entertainment product (which seems to be the case in western media nowadays )ex: Star Wars the last jedi , doctor who , this game etc . Games and movies should be a medium of spreading love, hope for all groups (including STRAIGHT Men and Women) rather than hate , divisiveness which unfortunately THE LAST OF US 2 is a product of.....    … Expand

    Good graphics, awful story, controls sucks, horrendous characters, exaggerated drama, dumb motivations, stupid plot twists, characters change their minds for no reason, stupid devs.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
