    The original was a masterpiece. This game is not. I did not buy the game, i watched a stream because i was unsure if i would like it. It feels to me like they sacrificed the original game and its character development to make it fit to "the larger isuess of our time". I did not care for it. It also has alot of plotholes...

    Whoever approved this vomit, this travesty of a story should be fired and punished for life. If you're planning to buy this, DON'T! Do not support Naughty Dog or PS for this atrocity. This is how you kill a franchise.

First of all,I have to state that the game is not really a "0" score game,due to the amazing graphic and not evolution though still intriguing game-play. If I want to give the game a fair score, it probably will be around 7, purposely because of everything else, which is good game by and large.

    BUT!! the idea of shoving a horrible political correct story in player's arse just for political correction sake is definitely needed to be terminated, even not just for gaming industry.

    Almost all of the plot driving points are just stupid, long time survivors Joel and Tommy are just lost all the cautiousness, lead to Joel's death, Killing spree machine Abby just let a girl who is apparently closed to Joel go,and the ending which everybody hated.

    And the so call meaning of the story is butchered so hard, killing is a big part of LoUS, it is in the game mechanic let alone story. People get reward by killing especially in this sequel which we dealing human much more than the original, it is Apocalypse after all. You want to talk about circle of hatred, that is fine, put in the content, shows in emotions, alter some of actions. Not just consistent killing each other with cold blood and all of sudden spare some lives just for haunting them later at last second. They are just not what people will do in that situation.

    All in all, garbage story telling and script, have so much potential with changing ideas of integrated LGBT element in games among gamers but failed miserably, and hated it even more. 0/0    … Expand

    What a horrible direction this franchise took. One of the best story driven games ever, and the sequel actually made the base game worse by continuing a story that should have ended where the original game did.

    The decisions being made in this game are absolutely ridiculous and horrendous.
    Almost no change whatsoever in gameplay, besides being able to jump and climb. Characters are bland and uninteresting, and the encounters with the infected are much less often now with an obscene design to one of the new infected enemies.     The agenda does not really matters to me but the fact that Druckmann decided to shove a lot of things that aren't necessary down out throats made me sick.
    Fans of the series waited 7 years for this sequel and this is what they got.
    It's like they took everything that people loved in the first game and decided to switch it 180 degrees from what it was.

    A positive thing I have to say is that the game is totally gorgeous, graphics wise. It really brings the limit of the PS4 and this generation.    … Expand

    The rating is for the visuals, sounds and the gameplay. The first one was one of my all time favourite game. I expected the story to be so much better after the first one.

    The game is roughly divided in 4 parts, intro, Ellie, Abby, ending. In the intro and ending the 2 characters take turns in part of the story, but most of it is Ellie. In between you have a big chunk of gameplay as one character divided into 3 days each.

    When I got about halfway into the story and the timeline reset to day 1 and the perspective changed to Abby, I got a sinking feeling. Which became worse when I opened the menu and saw the skill trees and craftables. I realised I would be playing as Abby for the next big chunk of the story.

    I had no positive connection with her or any of her friends other than the intro in which she killed Joel. She killed off one of the important characters of the first game and now I had to play as this character without any further context (which does come some chapters later through a flashback). Though it was fairly predictable and I didn't care for it.

    If that wasn't bad enough, this game's characters seems to be written around a social politics checklist.
    - Gay people, check
    - People of colour, check
    - Transgender people, check
    - Manly women, check
    - Kill off almost all of the men, check

    It's fine to have these in a story, but not as a characters main defining feature. Most of the characters are bland and have barely any development throughout the game.

    Ellie's flashbacks showed glimpses of what the game should have been.

    While I could relate so much with the first game, I felt nothing in this game's big "emotional" events. I didn't care much when any of the characters died and the ending was very dissatisfying.    … Expand

    Characters 1/10 This aren't the same characters we met and loved from The Last of Us, these are new characters that look somewhat similar, have the same names and voice actors. I miss that game.     The first game was so well done but now part 2 has become a politicised, like it or be silenced agenda product and it's no longer about a video game with a great storyline and character development. Lots of bugs, terrible story, an agenda politics story and you are silenced if you don't like it.

    TLOU2 - what an incredibly **** game. The plot makes no sense after 3-4 hours of playing - you get reset back to the beginning of the game, thanks for playing this, but screw that, we're sending you back - the continuation of the first game (which was amazing) is nearly VOID, the AI is garbage, and there is no relation whatsoever with the characters. Best PS4 game of 2020? Don't make me laugh.

    This is not a review of the gameplay, this is a review of the experience which is abysmal. I know that Naughty Dog lost a great portion of their team but I didn't expect the story to be such a warm packet of dogsh1t. It's the stupidest story I have ever consumed and I played Duke Nukem Forever.

    It's not good. Here's why:

    Actually just a movie, double standards on Sony's part, deceitful marketing, no focus on the zombies, weak plot with plenty of holes, but worst of all, no respect for Joel.

    If you're looking for a game like this, but done right, consider playing Metal Gear Solid 2 if you haven't already.

Ellie pushed Joel off so hard about him not allowing his daughter to die. Also, you can complete the game by crawling on the ground and only if npc that are alerted of your position then they will not target you. Also ellie ends up with 8/10 fingers and alone.… Expand

    I would advise to game "critics" to be more critical and also stop licking asses. Graphics is only one or two hours of gametime, the rest of it is gameplay and plot. Im very dissapointed that developers can't understand the basic, or don't accept it.

    Spend your money on other games, there are many indie developers who deserve it more. Also don't forget about the crunch and terrible employee treatment from Naughty Dog, stop supporting this company.

    It's a SHAME I cannt refund anymore, wish I had it by CD instead of from PS store, just because I was loving so much about original part 1.

    HOWEVER, if you liked the story of the first one, you'll be hard-pressed to like the second one's story.

So basically the story felt lackluster and all over the place. The idea between the story was good but everything executed in a bad way. New characters felt bland and hard to like.     Beloved characters are destroyed. Joel is killed within the first few hours. Characters make dumb, illogical choices. New characters are unlikable.

    Many many scenes are disturbing and feel like violence for the sake of violence.
    Bad thing after bad thing happens. With all the depression in 2020, this is not something the world needs.

    Game looks great, but that is the only thing the game has to offer for you if you enjoyed the last of us story.

    Story 4/10 - None lovable characters.
    Game-play - 6/10 Story killed the game-played for me.
    Graphics - 8/10 beautiful scenes.
    Replay-ability - NONE.

    Overall Score - 4/10 - would give away my copy of "Last of us 2" away for free, or just burn it.

We have friends among gays, lesbians, queers, transsexuals and people, who feel and see the world differently and our tastes are almost the same in movies, music or games, and even if not, we still know how to make ourselves and our thoughts clear to each other, but I guess some people, and I'm talking here about the main creators of tlou II, don't know how to show their feelings and passion. The worst part of tlou 2 is the bad copy-paste from Quantic Dream's project, Beyond Two Souls, where David Cage tried to show, how some scenes, seen or felt, demand your reaction or negative thinking to highest point, however, in BTS we were given a chance to decide what to do, making manipulation feel less distracting, but, I guess, Naughty Dog thought that this aspect is not critical: here we go, manipulation over feelings - failed, the story makes the player feel devastated, not from the narrative, but from its absence of logic. Characters are hollow and gray, mostly the old ones, from the first game. I don't judge the actions of the new characters, because their reactions and feelings are true enigma to me, not because they are complicated, let's say that basic patterns and ideas were mostly witnessed before their realisation in this game, making this game less and less entertaining. Whenever the action is read before its realisation - you wish to skip and go on. Right before tlou fans eyes everything was torn apart and put into the ... sewers, yeeeeahhh. Let's go on. Story of Joel and Ellie would be completed in this story - everyone was hoping for it, but Propp's standard of storytelling was put to test by the main director, who thought, maybe, I don't know, that storytelling is something that changes by itself... I wish I had the physical copy of a game just to destroy it, but instead I have the digital version of it and the feeling of being punched on my ass and wallet (money money money must be funny in Neil Druckmann's world) many times by Neil is still something that will pursue me until my last days of sony-fan-boy, because it is crucial to mention how all the players were fooled by journalists, media and whole cutscenes trailers, making them never believe in pre-orders from Sony or any other company (horizon 2, baldur's gate 3 and cyberpunk 2077 are out of this league, subjective thinking, but we shall all see the difference, meaning that these games are already pre-ordered or would be on first day). I hope that Druckmann will try to play his game in 10 years after the first part and see what he had done to the franchise that was perfect in every sense and turned it into a total joke. No spoilers. Enjoy the life until you play tlou II.… Expand

    Joel’s death is very controversial, because the game is about the connection of two heroes, about how they pass through the world of apocalypse. And at first I thought that Joel was replaced by Dina, but she is not the main character, unlike Abby. Here the situation is directly heating up, because even with Abby's unbelievably cool background, she should not be the one for whom we should beat Ellie. At this moment, I was simply waiting for an end without emotion, which was drawn out indefinitely. Unnecessary storyline with Leo and Yara. People were waiting for a game about Joel and Ellie, and not about soldiers and freaks. When Abby came to Ellie, I thought it was the end of the game. But the game did not end very long. Just a lack of understanding of the reason why I saw what was happening was throughout the rest of the gameplay. But even if you do not focus on the storyline of Abby (he is not bad, but the game is not about that), then beating Ally is the peak of trash. Then stupid mercy.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The squeal to a quite loved and passion filled game. Waiting years for a rather large disappointment. On the surface the game is quite beautiful, with rich lush environments with a good sound design. The game feels MUCH more fluid compared to its predecessor, but the lack of care in story writing truly hurt this game.

    From the moment Joel walks into a trap that makes literally no sense for his and his brothers character. Considering they have 20+ years of survival experience and jaded from the pain of the past. Why were they so trusting? It doesn't make sense for them.

    Add on the weird swap of character for Ellie at the very end of the game when she can end the one who has caused her all this pain, made her lose fingers, made her lose her girl. She can end what she had started. Then she doesn't, cause of a flashback? It feels fake, it feels like they want to create a third game with the new character Abby... Of which let's discuss the elephant in the room.

    Abby, the murder of Joel, and forced to play as her for 10+ hours. With an awkward sex scene to disdain for the character. No one enjoyed her, at least I didn't. Her sections of the game are not awful but it feels so wrong playing the murderer of someone we have loved so dearly for years.

    Gameplay feels although much SMOOTHER than the first, it is still the same spamming of punches and even worse gun play. The increase of environments made stealth and playing slow far more rewarding. The failure to increase the AI's intelligence, to improve on the previous systems, and to provide more tools to use the new areas more effectively. Makes the game feel very repetitive very quickly. Even more so if you just played TLOU1 before buying this one (In order to refresh your memory).

    The music, visuals, and sound design do carry a large portion of the game, but it feels as empty as the world they are in.    … Expand

But you won't find a single thing you like in this game because it's a political mess with agenda's forced into the story.

    Waited for a game for 6 years. Played from start to finish. Couldn't handle playing for Abby. Boring, annoying and just completely unnecessary. Can't say much more about the game.
    Flashbacks with Joel were good, graphic design is beautiful, songs are amazing (but what the **** "Take On Me" had to do with all of this?)

    Are we sure Neil Druckmann didn't have collaboration with D&D? The graphics and gameplay look amazing and fantastic. The story however, offsets any kind of achievement and praise I have for the game. This series will always be known for its storytelling. Just this time around it's a pretty bad one instead.

The Story is a complete disaster versus the first game, the logical aspects of trying to survive completely ignored, leading to unrealistic character decisions (such as Joel giving his name away leading to his death, this being out of character for Joel as he is incredibly suspicious in the first game). As well as this many new character's are added such as Abby and Dina who are forgettable and annoying, they add little to the story, although admittedly Dina does start to grow on you towards the end. Ellie is also out of character, by the end of the game she doesn't enact her revenge and still loses out, this was inadequate sequel that should not have been made. It is definitely not a 10/10, if I was generous it would get a 4/10… Expand

    The game's writing is awful. Very poorly written characters who make bizarre decisions that no sane person would do. Forcing players to play as unlikeable characters not a good decision. Ultimately, the game has one of the worst endings I've ever seen and leaves the player upset as opposed to fulfilled. Avoid this garbage at all costs.

    Graphics, design, acting and sound are amazing. ND has the best art team. But I was never into gaming for graphics - it's like 20% of the experience for me, maybe even less. Graphics can't really add much score to the game (for me). It's a multiplyer. It could make a good game great, but it doesn't do much to elevate a bad game, which is the case with TLOU2.

    The atmosphere and plot is Bleak and Hopeless. Everything is going from good to bad to worse, and you are forced to watch this trainwreck. Not only that, you are forced to actively participate in it. I cannot count the number of times when the character is about to do something utterly stupid or just disgusting and abhorrently evil, and I simply find myself not wanting to progress. I want to turn away and walk in the other direction, but I can't.
    It wouldn't be as bad, but the game then actively moralizes with YOU, and scolds YOU as a player for making those decisions and actions that you didn't make. The writer made those decisions for you, and then he punishes you for playing the game that he made.
    And every damn character, including Allie is like that. Every last one of them is unlikeable. Except Joel, that is DEAD and that we meet in flashbacks that is the only positive thing of the game. But if you're ever allowed to witness that positivity and feel good - that only means that the game is preparing to dip you head first in a bucket of **** because as soon as you'll return to reality, all that positivity will be crushed by something terrible. It's to the point that I found myself completely emptionally detached and simply not caring about anything that happens. I had an urge to skip cutscenes in this game.
    I'm forced to watch my favorite character deconstructing herself for 15 hours (let's not count the Abby part where I just want to get over with as fast as possible because I want this **** dead).

    Then there's a problem of the second character. Basically what they do with Abby is they first make us hate her, and then they force us to PLAY AS HER and show us that she's not as bad. Problem is, first impression is already made, and it's THE WORST. No matter what you do after that, I just can't get over the bitterness of knowing what this **** did, and I can't warm up to her.
    Having a totally unlikeable personality and, let me be blunt here, ugly testosterone-filled looks doesn't help.

    And then it ends with.... nothing.
    We've killed so many, we've lost so much, Allie crossed all the bridges... And then we spare the only person who ACTUALLY deserved to die? We just let her go... for what? Why? Why should Abby get to live? The only way they could possibly make it ANY worse was for Ellie to spare her and for that to get drowned by Abby immediately. That'd be nice. And that'd fit in with the story.

    There's zero positive things to this game other than visuals.
    Gameplay is mediocre - it's not improved from the first part and feels outdated. It's even worse, somehow.

    Now look. I think that some people will enjoy that story. Truly. For them - this will be a 10/10 experience. But I think the majority of the fans will NOT.

    Here's the thing. I do think that some movies and games should go in that direction. To be dark, bleak, violent, outright depressing - all of which TLOU2 is.
    But I feel that if you're making a SEQUEL - you can not just change the tone so much. Imagine watching Raven first, which is a bleak, somewhat depressing movie, but it has hope and satisfying finale. Then you go into sequel, and all that happens is those ****ty things but without any Raven to punish the villains. You're just watching them torture and kill people for 2 hours.
    That's the tonal change of TLOU2. Everything is BAD, and will get worse.
    I think when you make a SEQUEL, you have a bit of a responsibility to your fans to make it "more of the same", to make it satisfying to people who loved the original.
    If it was a standalone, I would just say it isn't for me. As a Sequel to my favorite game - I can't just let it go.

    The story is 0/10 for me.
    The press that all gave it 10/10? Most of them are SHILLS. Maybe they don't get outright PAID, but they rate it high so that they keep receiving early copies. Because if they rate it low - next time ND and Sony wouldn't send it. They are INCENTIVISED to rate high.

    Aside from graphics, there's nothing to give 10/10 for. Outdated gameplay and unpleasant unfulfilling story that should leave most of the fans extremely upset, and most of normal people at least partially distressed thanks to all the violence and so on.

    The result is +2 for graphics + 6 for gameplay - 5 for story. Yes, actually negative score for story. If there was no story and just beautiful levels - the game would have been BETTER.
    Result: 3/10 game for me.

    I see this as a beautiful game, awesome gameplay, acting is 100% on point but how the story is narrated is really not compelling, especially the final part.
    I don't see the point on "humanizing" Abby, whoever has a brain knows that the "evil" part has its own reasons, especially after the sad (but heartfelt) decision that Joel made in the LOU 1.
    Everyone expected Joel to die, but how he died and when, doesn't make sense. After a total free violence against an harmless man on the floor, they don't kill who saw them.
    I can continue with more examples for hours.
    Why people gave 10 to this game is a mystery, this is a great game, but nowhere close to perfection since storytelling is a key part of these games.
    So, to compensate no-sense 10 I need to give a 0, this mostly would be a 7 or 8, not an inch more in my opinion.    … Expand

    I just finished the game, and I made myself do it. My wife and I are absolute massive fans of the first game and we are sitting here just completely disappointed in the story/gameplay. I’ll come back later and edit this if I can to go into more detail, but for those of you that were waiting for this.... the game is terrible. The story was terrible, as a fan of TLOU I’m at a loss for words.I just finished the game, and I made myself do it. My wife and I are absolute massive fans of the first game and we are sitting here just completely disappointed in the story/gameplay. I’ll come back later and edit this if I can to go into more detail, but for those of you that were waiting for this.... the game is terrible.     Every video gaming industry should learn from this event and remember who their customers are. I get the frustration of every video gamer. This game is pushing an agenda that most people are awakening up to and don’t agree with. After a few hours of gameplay, my motivation to continue playing the game is dead. Time to send the game back to Naughty Dog!!!

    Jogo lixo. Só tem lacração e história merda. Mataram o joe de um jeito mais bosta que eu já vi. Não tem como jogar com o joe na hora que ele morre e outros personagens também. Isso ai é mais um filmezinho do que jogo. A única que se salva ai é a abby, que foi muito boa, Allie é um lixo, com aquela namoradinha dela. Jogo cheio de bugs.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why does this game even exist? It couldn't be more clear that Naughty Dog never intended a followup to the first game and had no plan whatsoever for continuing the plot.

    The thing that actually makes Ellie important (her immunity...ya know, the entire driving force behind the first games plot) has no role to play in the sequel at all. Other than one or two off-hand references, it seems like the writers completely forgot that was even a thing. As a result, the game has no real plot progression at all. The world is the exact same at the end of the game as the begining. It's pointless.

    This games plot is literally like watching one of those episodes of a TV show that have a throw away story to focus on the B tier characters.....except these are supposed to be our main characters.

    I would say "at least its pretty," but Naughty Dogs gameplay is so laughably outdated and stale that you can hardly focus on the graphics through the shear tedium of it all.

    Why would you drudge up a beloved IP, then have no clue where you are going with it? Is it really too much to ask for the writers to at least pretend they know what they are doing?

    I'd give this a "0," but I am willing concede that the game does indeed start up when I select the icon.    … Expand

    Got to day 2 and I have lost all motivation to continue. Such a shame, I really wanted to love this game, I tried, I really did. But just can’t get over the poor story and execution of it. The game looks amazing, but I’d rather play a 20 year old game with 2D graphics and an amazing story, than play TLOU2 with the story it has :( I am genuinely sad, I waited years to play this.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
