The Hong Kong Massacre is like Hotline Miami but in a more grounded realistic setting. It is fast, bloody and often difficult. You kill with one bullet and got killed by one single gun shot. You can upgrade your guns which helps you to get a better rating for previous levels, so you can upgrade them even more. An unique shooter experience but prepare to die. Often. Very often.

    EDIT:

Story is pretty much non-existing and hit detection of the shotgun sometimes a pain in the ... I had to lower the score from 9 to 7.

I created an account just to review this game. Firstly, I loved Hotline Miami 1 and 2. Very difficult but very rewarding and quirky. The best way to describe it, and I'm stealing from another interview is "Hong Kong Massacre is the younger brother of Hotline Miami, who is really really good looking ". The game is fun but lacks the polish of Hotline Miami. Looks nice though. Lot of weirdI created an account just to review this game. Firstly, I loved Hotline Miami 1 and 2. Unless you played Hotline Miami and wished it featured more people shooting you dead from offscreen where you couldn’t even see them, you’re better off passing on The Hong Kong Massacre, because style is really all this game has to offer.

At a first glance The Hong Kong Massacre appears to be nothing more than a Hotline Miami clone. However, beneath its samey exterior the game differentiates itself with some quirky mechanics that make it a real blast to play. [Issue#160, p.89]

Hong Kong Massacre is a competent and well-presented twin stick John Woo 'em up but is hamstrung by a lack of variety and some frustrating gameplay elements.
