    The Hong Kong Massacre is a game that will leave you with vivid memories. The awesome stunts you pulled off, the impossible feats you were able to achieve, and the crazy killing sprees will all stick in your mind. It is a game that perfectly executes on a vision and offers some of the most gratifying few hours you can find in gaming today.

    It's pretty clear where this game gets its inspiration from and with its intense gameplay, beautiful graphical effects and a steep learning curve this is a solid title. Shame that all bosses are nearly identical and that some screen tearing is present. Besides that, If you loved Hotline Miami, this is definitely a must play.

    The Hong Kong Massacre is an intense and gratifying experience that Hotline Miami's fans and lovers will enjoy the most. It has its flaws (low-res videos, difficulty peaks at some points, gameplay repetition...) that draw it from being a must, but VRESKI's first game delivers with strong visuals, rhythm and challenge.

    The Hong Kong Massacre is an intense and spectacular shoot-’em-up with a stylish slow-motion hook. While some corners have been cut in terms of its presentation and boss fights, those issues are easy to overlook when the core gunplay is so fiercely challenging, unashamedly violent, and relentlessly enjoyable.

    A good twinstick shooter. Accompanied by cool electro-beats creates a martial flow, but in the long run you'll miss greater variety.

    The Hong Kong Massacre mixes the mood of John Woo's hardboiled films with a gameplay inspired by Hotline Miami.

    This is a very interesting and challenging shooter with well-balanced gameplay mechanics. We miss a little bit more of depth and more diverse situations, but it’s a very engaging and satisfying experience.

    The Hong Kong Massacre exists to let you strategically gun down armies of bad guys and look cool while doing it. What it lacks in originality it more than makes up for in stylishly bloody good times.

    Overall, The Hong Kong Massacre is a treat. Yes, the game is one-note, focusing entirely on the gunplay. But it’s a really good note! The game is simple, but effective. What it lacks in narrative weight and variability, it makes up for with atmosphere and style. It’s a maddening game, one I can’t wait to play again.

You kill with one bullet and got killed by one single gun shot. You can upgrade your guns which helps you to get a better rating for previous levels, so you can upgrade them even more. Level design is really nice, you have multiple options to master it and the music always drives you to new heights.

    An unique shooter experience but prepare to die. Often. Very often.

    Story is pretty much non-existing and hit detection of the shotgun sometimes a pain in the ... I had to lower the score from 9 to 7.    … Full Review »

The trophies involve being able to beat this game without using these mechanics which seems almost impossible.

Hotline Miami is indeed a masterpiece and has a depth that The Hong Kong Massacre lacks. But it is a great game nonetheless. The slow motion is a great gimmick that almost kills the gameplay. Once you get the hang of it the game gets too easy. So much that the middle part of the game feels repetitive. Only in the last part of the game the difficulty increases (the number of enemies and the challenging angles you need to use to kill them) and the fun is back. You lack the visibility you have in Hotline Miami, since you cannot move the map around you at all and the environment can be confusing at times but I guess it was intended this way as part of the difficulty. All in all a great game.… Full Review »
