    I am not a tekken fan,i even never played one,i got it for free by one of my friends ,who said the game was garbage
    I honestly don't feel that way
    You got a pretty small roster,but there are some great characters ,like a **** bear and panda,which is absolutely amazing,and made me feel even more interested in the story as i progress I was pretty disappointed by the story,but some moments    I am not a tekken fan,i even never played one,i got it for free by one of my friends ,who said the game was garbage

    Tekken 7 still one of the best fighting games, this version has a new story mode focused on Heihachi and Kazuya's rivalry. It Brings classic characters and some new combatants, also new maps and a new soundtrack. But, It starts adding DLC content unlike his past versions.

    Been doing this since Tekken 1. It seems as though Namco set the bar too high with Tekken Tag 2. (Don't care what you say, TTT2 was the sh*t) In regards to the roster, the new characters are promising, but I'm still experimenting with them, so I can't give a valid opinion.

    Key players are missing such as Lei Wulong and Julia Chang/Jaycee, which is something they will most likely release in the future. I'm SLIGHTLY disappointed, but either they will release them in the future or I'll just go play TTT2 or 6.

    As for the single player mode, we are missing many of the standard modes like Survival and Team Battle. But we are given Treasure Battle (also known as Ghost Battle with more loot.), which is fine, but doesn't really do that much different. Fortunately, there is a story mode, but even that is watered down with a needless narrative perspective; which only serves to make sure you take the Mishima storyline seriously.

    Taking a note from Capcom's Street Fighter V, the other characters get a chance to face off against their rivals after you finish the main story and allow to unlock their endings. Which, to be honest seems to be more of a rush job and less of a nod to fans.

    Ultimately, this and almost all fighting games now are gearing themselves towards online gameplay which is either a good thing or a bad thing. Me personally, I'm a local co-op player, so I guess I'm a dying breed. Also, as cool as the new Rage system is, it's TOO EASY to simply win a match with the press of ONE BUTTON. Matches are supposed to be tense and tight when your life is low, Rage takes away that excitement.

    Overall though, Tekken 7 is a step back from TTT2 and 6, but improves itself in ways that you will either embrace or hate.    … Expand

    The fighting mechanics are very solid, as are the graphics. However, a fairly mediocre roster and weak single-player content sadly drags the game down a few pegs. Also, while it will probably be patched eventually, it's still important to note that the online portion of the game is, at the time of writing this, suffering considerable issues.

    I've not played tekken since tekken 3. I've enjoyed watching videos of the game so i decided to try it. The gameplay is amazing. I wanted to return the game as soon as i got it because i didn't understand anything, but the time i learned a single combo (Which is nothing in this game, NOTHING, it's the bare minimum to not be destroyed by the cpu on medium) i was hooked and became one of myI've not played tekken since tekken 3.     So, core gameplay: 10. Characters... i like a lot of them, usually i get 3-4 characters i like, but here i like half the cast so it's quite a lot to enjoy
    -Story mode is... passable... to be honest 80% of it doesn't go anywhere... but there're some epic moments... to me, while those moments were great, the rest of the story was as meh as it could be.
    -Treasure battle is fun, you fight, you unlock things for customization... it's a nice way to make you play offline while you learn the game, keeps the things moving.
    -Customization is weird. You can make your own character, and tweak every color... but 80% of the costumes are shared between all the cast, and 90% of them are "weird". You may want to make a serious character but 90% of the items you can add to his back are giant pizzas, giant sushis, teddybears, etc... I've ended up customizing a little but it's not that good if you don't enjoy weird stuff
    - Online (PS4): it's bad... i'm from Argentina, south america, and more than a month since the game was released, i've not reached 30 online battles. The matchmaking takes up to an hour to find a match (while every other fighting game i play finds someone in a few minutes, so it's not a problem of my connection being bad, it's about where i am and that defines that the game is dead online.
    - tournament mode online won't work because if the creator of the tournament leaves, the tournament is closed, so basically, if he-she loses, he leaves because he doesnt want to wait and you get screwed and lose the prizes.

    So for me its one if not the more enjoyable fighting game nowadays but if you're on ps4 and south america online has been dead since arrival and even after 2 patches, things haven't changed.

Tekken 6 was the first game on the PS3, and the best. It had a giant roster of characters butNot as good as Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and certainly not as good as the best Tekken game : Tekken 6. Tekken hasn't been getting any better since Tekken 6, Tekken is great, awesome, it's as good as it has always has been. Unfortunately in recent releases features have been taken away, not added. Tekken 6 was the first game on the PS3, and the best. It had a giant roster of characters but more importantly it had a story mode, based on the Tekken Force introduced in Tekken 3 and 4. Now for the most part many fans didn't like this "Streets Of Rage" style scrolling beat-em-up mode, but that's ok, if you didn't like the mode you didn't have to play it. The mode was great because it was in effect two games in mode, Tekken 1 on 1 and Tekken scrolling beat-em-up. The game even had online coop mode. A first or a tekken game. Sure the newer releases have ever so slightly better graphics and more characters, however in TTT2 the scrolling beat-em-up mode was missing, it felt like a large chunk of the game had been removed, and it had annoying gimmicky features such as wall and bounce damage, there was also no online coop (obviously) but at least it had 2 on 2 combat which wasn't in Tekken 6, something new. And now we come to Tekken 7, it has different gimmicky features to TTT2 which aren't necessary, but now we have two key features missing, no tag team mode and no scrolling beat-em-up mode, going back to a game with only 1 and 1, and with a severely reduced roster of characters. Somehow the game feels very threadbare in comparison. I'm all for making the game better but taking away features that were awesome and considered new features in previous Tekken games, it's sad indeed. Tekken 7 is a great game, but TTT2 and especially Tekken 6 are better. Tekken 7 has less content than previous Tekken games making it an inferior product.     I've played 90 hours out of this game before I have decided to leave it be. I've beaten all story parts and then played only online.

    First of all, let me tell you, this game is not really targeted to casual players who just want to play story mode and Arcade mode.     First of all, let me tell you, this game is not really targeted to casual players who just want to play story mode and Arcade mode. Second of all, there is no tutorial for new players and all you get is text in the loading screen, that explains some movement/defensive options.
    The story mode is one of the better examples in the fighting game genre but it still takes only about 2-3 Hours to beat. There are also side Stories for Characters that are not involved in the main Story but those are just one fight long, which is really disappointing.
    The Arcade Mode is also not that long. 8-9 minutes for each Character and nothing really surprising. And then there is Training mode, which is a really great tool to learn characters and match-ups but then again....no tutorial on how to use it or how to use it efficiently.
    Then there is Treasure-Battle, a mode where you can fight the CPU for customisation Items for all the Characters on the roster and increasing your Offline rank. And yes, there is an Offline rank for Arcade-Mode (limited) and Treasure-Mode (unlimited).

    Online is where I think Tekken 7s strong site is. Online you can choose between Tournament Mode, Ranked Match and Casual Matches. You will always find matches equaling your Skill and it can get you hooked for hours. I had great fun playing online and also met some people.

    Visually Tekken 7 looks really awesome! The Fights feel so good and these slow-motion moments creating such a hype online and offline. Each hit gives you a setisfiing feeling that you want to achieve a hit again.

    Overall I like Tekken 7 but I don´t think it´s for beginners. Bandai said its accessible more then ever but I don´t see accessibility when there is no tutorial. If you want to have fun with Tekken you need to learn a lot of things and playing against the CPU is not going to justify a full price buy.
    My Advise: If you are a person that is confident about your fighting game skill and look for a challenge, buy it! But if you are new and want just to beat the story or mash some buttons against the CPU wait for at least half the price or even less.
    One more, if you are new and want to get good at Tekken give it time and hit up forums or youtube. Tekken has a very welcoming community and a lot of veteran players target their stream or video content towards new players!    … Expand

En primer lugar quiero decir que es un tekken muy trabajado pero como no encuentro a faltar varios personajes míticos de sagas antiguas que ya tedrian que haber vuelto. Personajes claro de tekken 1 ,2 y 3. Esto de que se innove con tantos personajes nuevos que son del mismo estilo que otros me cansa aparte de personajes chorra.... , todos los detalles del turbo estan bastante guays por que le puedes dar diferentes aspectos visuales consiguiendolos durante el juego. Como juego un 10 , graficos un 10 , como personajes nuevos un 3 , historia un 5 , guiños a personajes miticos 3… Expand

    With this being the first Tekken game that I've ever played, I'm surprised I never got into it despite how much praise there was for it. I was very pleased with how the game plays, It reminded me of Soul Calibur more then anything. I mostly tried the Arcade mode and online mode, and the netcode could use a bit of a tune up.     Игра сделана как в старые добрые времена, но увы в нее играть уже не так интересно. На первой PS можно было часами без перерыва, ту через пол часа надоедает. В целом неплохо, фанатам залетит, но не более 7/10

    Si te gusta Tekken te va a gustar Tekken 7, y si no te gusta, los cambios que se han hecho a la jugabilidad valen la pena para darle una nueva oportunidad a la serie. Tekken 7 es una obra que, aunque tiene sus puntos flacos, se mantiene como una opción única e imprescindible dentro de la oferta del género.

    Yes, childhood arcade fighting game with improved graphics and mechanics but then...paying for characters that are originally in the roster for almost all of the installments' kinda questionable to me. Not to mention Tekken Bowl. I understand collab characters being payable but why even characters present like since the conception of the game..?

    It's worth getting into for the multiplayer / ranked aspect, the game lacks in single player content. Although the recent additions (as in DLC characters) were not really supervised upon release (I know they got nerfed later on). The stages are fantastic, so is the OST.     Tekken 5 was a small part of my childhood.
    It's been quite long since I played a Tekken game for the last time... till recently.
    Tekken's strongest aspect was always the gameplay, and Tekken 7's core gameplay is awesome! It's very complex, it looks clean and it feels smooth... it's Tekken gameplay at it's finest. The roster is great, even though there are some questionable additions in.    Tekken 5 was a small part of my childhood.

    The roster is great, even though there are some questionable additions in.
    The visuals and the audio design are very dynamic and cool!
    The customization is fine and the music is... well, Tekken 7's soundtrack is mediocre at best but I like how there's an option to use tracks from the previous games in the series.
    The game is not flawless though, far from it.
    Some animations and character elements feel outdated or unpolished.
    The DLC characters are way too many in my opinion and half of them should've been included in the base game; locking classic Tekken characters behind a pay-wall is unacceptable.
    The Arcade Mode is a joke; it's very short and irrelevant.
    Also, the singleplayer content is just underwhelming.

    Pros:
    + Amazing gameplay
    + Very good roster
    + Complex mechanics
    + Nice visuals
    + Decent customization

    Cons:
    - Some minor elements are outdated
    - Too many DLC characters
    - Arcade Mode & singleplayer content

    Tekken 7 is a lot of fun when playing multiplayer either offline or online, but unfortunately, it's not without its flaws.
    It's still a very enjoyable fighting game though and a good game overall.

    It's a pretty fun game. The story was good and quick, I enjoyed from the beginning to the end. The climax of the mishima family arc was utterly epic.

    While this game has great variety of characters, looks, and fighting styles... the lack of offline modes compared to previous entries it's a problem.     Gallery: The gallery is quite a surprise. Not only does it have character endings from past Tekken games, but it also has artwork which I've never seen before.

    ULTIMATE TEKKEN BOWL: Relive memories of playing Tekken Bowl from Tekken Tag Tournament. Play bowling in Tekken style!

    Rank Points: Ever since Tekken 5 DR, there was no rank points. You had no idea how close you were to a promotion/demotion. This was the first Tekken to introduce rank points, you can finally tell if you're close to a promotion/demotion.

    Easy throw-breaking: Throw-breaking has gotten a little easy, it is not unnecessarily difficult anymore.

    Easy controller-setup: Controller setup is much better and easy than previous Tekken games.

    Stage/Music Transition: I like how the stage changes atmosphere on the last round, as well as the music. This build up hype.

    Cons

    Online: Sometimes, the netcode is good, sometimes, it isn't. In season 1, there was no rank points, which was a problem since Tekken 5 DR because you would have no idea if you are close to a promotion/demotion. Rank points were then introduced in season 2. When someone disconnects during a match, you get nothing, unless the opponent goes AFK and you quickly beat him before the match gets cancelled to get points. In an online tournament, when a match gets disconnected, you either win by default, or the whole tournament gets canceled.

    Broken Characters: 2D characters like Akuma (Street Fighter), Geese Howard (King of Fighters/Fatal Fury), and Noctis Lucis Caelum are non-Tekken characters who are broken. DLC characters like Negan, Leroy Smith, Fakhumram, Kunimitsu and Lidia Sobieska are broken. Every part about them is annoying. This is just my opinion, you may disagree to this.

    Terrible/Short Story: The main story was alright, I just wish there was more. The narrator made the main story boring. I can't say the same for the character episodes, they were absolutely terrible.

    Lack of Content: This game does not have many offline content and is missing some like team battle and survival. ULTIMATE TEKKEN BOWL is good, but it's not enough. Also, the AI in this game is trash, which makes Treasure Battle boring.

    No tutorial mode: You have to learn this game on your own or by searching YouTube videos.

    Frame Data: Frame Data was finally added in the game, back in season 3, but now you have to pay for it.

    Stages: Two dojo stages, two volcano stages, two helipad stages and two floor-break stages. Some of the filters on the stages looked terrible than compared to the beautiful Vanilla filters. The main ones to me were Twilight Conflict with the beautiful sunset, Mishima Dojo with the warm contrast and Devil's pit with the dark atmosphere. They completely ruin those stages by changing the filters. In season 2, they brought the filters back, but they're separate stages now. They should've been a stage transition.    … Expand

    Tekken 7 is a fighting game with seemingly a bunch to do, but just can’t stand up to today’s competition...
    There is a story mode here complete with cut scenes which is probably the best part of the game...
    Its tells the father son struggle of Heihachi and kazuya... as Kazuya sets out to kill his father for killing his mother…
    The story mode goes a bit all over the place, so it’s hard to follow at times, but there’s definitely some emotion here, and I did find the story mode to be intriguing..
    However this story mode is only 2 hours long…
    There are character specific chapters to do after you complete the story mode that all tell a silly conflict between 2 fighters and end in a nice short cut scene at the end of the battle, and gives every character in the roster some personality...
    To add even more personality to your characters... there’s a treasure battle mode here where you can earn fight money and clothing items to customize your entire roster…
    However there are few unique outfits for each character
    A lot of customizable options are shared... and even worse… you have to rebuy the exact same article of clothing even if you already own it for another character…
    This is a decent feature though and you can even change the color of most items here…
    The actual gameplay though…
    Its stiff..
    Tekken 7 feels extremely slow stiff and annoying compared to the competition like injustice 2…
    Enemies feel spammy at times with their constant spam blocking and spam dodge attack from behind combos...
    This can to lead to many frustrating feeling moments.. Where you’ll feel you need to get lucky to progress rather than breathe and go back in with a new approach…
    This game is not newcomer friendly at all, as all of the cool moves are hidden behind ridiculous combinations of buttons…
    Feeling like a pro will take a lot of time and dedication to this game…
    Not recommend for the casual fighting game fan at all…
    Though there is a more casual addition to tekken 7 called a rage art…
    When you’re down on health and your back is against the wall, you can release a powerful attack like a super move from the injustice games, just with the touch of a button if you’d like as this move along with other button combinations are mappable on your controller…
    And onto the online mode..
    It’s completely broken for me on the PlayStation 4…
    I couldn’t connect to any matches... so my fun with this game ended when the 2 hour campaign ended…
    Tekken fans I’m sure will love Tekken 7
    But fighting fans in general…
    Tekken 7 is miles behind the competition and needs to catch up…
    Content feels lacking with the likes of Injustice 2 out there now
    And the button mashy memorize a million button sequences get lucky combat is just not enjoyable to me anymore…

    I've never played any of the previous games, so I was lost. I did find the story very cheesy and just not for me. The game-play however was awesome. Plenty of awesome matches and moments were present. I wished that the game had more content though.

    It's a good fighting game, but the graphics are just awful. It looks nearly the same as Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on PS3. Rage Arts are too casual for me. Lack of fighters is also a bad thing (where's Lei?!). Overall it is still lot of fun, but not good game as should be.

    The game looks fantastic and the story albeit short and confusing is interesting, but overall Tekken 7 doesn't do anything to stand out and is a bit bland overall. 63/100

    The gameplay is always enjoyable and it keeps getting better. Rage arts will take getting used to as they can be rather annoying in the beginning. New characters are as blank as a white paper. Story is absolute rubbish.

    Tekken 7 takes a far more cinematic approach and to make some enemies real quick, I think we lose a lot with this approach to fighting games, Tekken 7 has very pretty cgi cutscenes but the gameplay is subpar at best, I think ArcSys hit the nail on the head with their Story Modes in the Guilty Gear franchise, having the story be told in one long continuous cutscene rather than breaking it up to force some kind of fight to stop the player from falling asleep, because that's how many of the gameplay sections in T7's story feels, forced. The story primarily revolves around Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima, series mainstays and original characters, but because this is a video game, the story takes several detours to focus on other characters such as... Lars from Tekken 6... interesting characters are also there, like Nina, Lee and Jin shows up for like 10 minutes, which is kind of a shame after Tekken 6 where he was a pivotal character. Akuma from Street Fighter is there too... anyway. Tekken 7 constantly distracts from Kazuya and Heihachi to focus on these side stories because you can't sustain two characters going at each other for over an hour without them fighting which logically has to be the conclusion, and the conclusory scenes are great, Kazuya devolving further into Devil as Heihachi keeps fighting despite being heavily outmatched, it's great and the way the fight ends is amazing, but that's the final 20 or so minutes to a Story Mode that's over 2 hours, the rest of it is incredibly mediocre. The attempt to humanize Heihachi certainly is interesting, but it begs the question of why Heihachi never mentioned the Devil gene if his attempt to kill Kazuya related to it and he knew it existed, it also makes Kazuya's deal with the devil less interesting as rather than being a conscious decision our initial HERO made to sacrifice his morality for power, it's just something he can't help and is quite literally in his genes. As for Akuma who is again... in this game for some reason, he doesn't really do anything, he's just here to act as some extra fights and one of the worst final boss fights the series has, and this is the series with Jinpachi Mishima. Robot girl from T6 is back too... I don't have anything to say about her, you like pink hair anime girls? There's your pink haired anime girl.

    Outside of Story Mode is where this game really falls apart, gone is Arcade Mode with character endings and unlockable secret characters, and in is a pointless arcade mode barren of rewards or purpose, you just fight 10 matches, then it's over, no character ending, no artwork, nothing. Though there are some character endings, but there all one fight long with zero development for anybody, and no alternating scenario, where finishing with Paul would have a different ending than finishing with Marshal Law in early endings, now you get the exact same endings for any characters together in one ending, with some variations, I think Leo and Yoshimitsu have vaguely different endings, but they're all so forgettable it's hard to be certain. Outside of Arcade and Endings there's... nothing... there's a Treasure Hunt game mode but it's no different from Arcade Mode and uh... yeah that's it, a whole 3 offline modes, one of which is pointless and the other lasts about 2 hours, it's Online or nothing here, and all the beautiful graphics and particle effects in the world can't fix that.

    Overall I don't think Tekken 7 is a bad game, and I'm sure if you're an online player, you likely feel I'm being too harsh, but considering the Offline offering here for the 7th main installment for a series known for its crazy offline minigames and distractions like Devil Within, Bowling, Volley Ball, and hell, in Tekken 5's case entire playable versions of the series until that point. It's just disappointing, even compared to the Ps1 games, THE PS1 GAMES! I just hope Tekken 8 offers more to those of us who don't want to spend all their time fighting online against people who're madly in love with their 1+2 combo.    … Expand

    I used to play Tekken on my ps2 when I was kid, it was very fun but coming back to Tekken franchise with Tekken 7 wasn't that feeling and experience I waited for. I think 6 is fair enough.

    Not much you can say about this game. It’s Tekken at the end of the day so it’s basically just mindless playing with the same storyline it’s had for the previous Tekkens. I played the older Tekkens when I was younger so I still enjoyed playing this (to a certain extent/for around 10 hours).

    They removed cgi movies after finish arcade battle just like old times . Now we have 10 15 second scenes . My main character is actually Bryan . When i looked for his move list damn it it was same w Tekken 6 and old games. No single difference except rage art thing.
    Worst story i ve ever seen if u wonder how tekken 7 's story continue , u better brace yourself and i really dont want to talk about online servers. I cant even play with my friends.     -I will never play Online mode because of Sony wanting my money to just be able to play online.
    -Lack of beloved Offline modes such as Team Battle, Time Attack, Survival and Ghost Battle. Arcade Mode is TOO short with only 5 battles. That is just pathetic compared to Tekken 6 which gave you 6 battles and Tag Tournament 2 which gave you 10 battles. Treasure mode is exactly like Ghost Battle in which you can earn prizes and money and do as many battles as you want until you get knocked out. it gets very boring very quickly and the items are not great for customization. You also get VS Battle and Practice.
    - The roster for the game is really poor. Only 35 fighters. They should have brought back more if not all the beloved fighters back like they did in Tekken 6 and Tag Tournament 2 apart from the ones that were in this game. Three of the new characters are essentially copies of Bruce Irvin, Christie Montiero and Craig Marduk who should been brought back. The other fighters are not even interesting.
    - I don't like the new mechanics at all.
    - Microtransactions for Eliza from Tekken Revolution, Geese Howard, Noctis or the whole First Season Pass and now the Second Series Season Pass which just came out over a week ago. This is something I thought would never see be done to this franchise as Katshuiro Harada the producer and director of the Tekken series HATES this idea and always believes that the full game should be on the disc.
    - The soundtrack is poor like Tekken Revolution and Tag Tournament 2 which came before this.

    The only things that are good about the game are the amazing graphics, the improved customizations, the superb sound, the gameplay returning to traditional Tekken gameplay like Tekken 5 and Dark Resurrection, the gallery which allows you to buy and watch Tekken 1-7 endings and concept art and the jukebox feature which allows you to change the games soundtrack to the classic Tekken 1-7 soundtrack for the stages and modes in the game.

    I still find this game very addictive to play from time to time.

    If you are a big fan of the Tekken series, do not buy this game. Go and buy the old Tekken games.    … Expand

    Hopefully in the future they will release new game modes and characters. Have an option to remove Rage Arts and have stable servers. But until then, this game will sadly collect dust in my shelf.

    Pretty boring. Feels like a less entertaining version of DoA. I have around 30+ fighter games and this is between half way and bottom of the stack for me. Always play cos I fancy a change, never a first choice.

    I play KoF 15, GG Strive, MK11, Injustice 2, BB Centralfiction. Always playing fighters but I can hit them up and get stuck in and with this I don't have that pick up and play vibe.

    What I really don't get are all these reviews hating on the game cos of its story. It's a 2Dish fighter. Not an RPG, you're not reading a book. I've never in my life discussed fighters with my mates and they've said oh story is a bit **** Who cares. It's a bloody fighter. It's like buying a cake and saying I don't like the cake cos the knife that sliced it wasn't very decorative.

    I'm actually going to stick with this one and keep giving it another try and hopefully raise my score. Something is telling me I haven't experienced what this game has to offer yet. If a game isn't worth my time then it is a straight 0 score from me. I think it is so cheap these days that it is well worth having and it feels very polished. Plus with the advent of super arts in Tekken, the classic 3D fighting feel is just a shadow of what it once was. Netcode is subpar. Tekken 6's was better, albeit Tekken 6 being a worse installment to the series as a whole .

    Wasn't there also a promise that legacy characters would be free? Why are Lei Wulong and Marduk $5.99? That's just stupid and walking back on your word...

    Not to mention the obviously artificial difficulty of some characters, especially of transformed Kazumi, with his continuous unfair and almost always learnable moves, also because of the speed of the fights I mentioned before. There is the constant sensation of artificial difficulty, made only to make the player nervous, to row against him.
    There are no longer the movies and the stories of the players in the arcade battles, there is only one long and boring storyline "the story of the Mishima", which makes us use characters of his choice. We no longer have the stories of the characters, which I find horrible from a Tekken, we have always had the stories of the characters.
    The customization mode is nice but it has been filled with silly and uninteresting objects, with pathetic costumes or parts of them, that not even an 8 year old would appreciate.
    Arcade battles now stop at the fifth match and end with a nice game over without the character's final storyline.
    This chapter is very sad, not to be thrown away but light years away from the splendor of the old Tekken.
    Also, I add, that the PS4 pad is really unsuitable and inefficient to play this speeded Tekken, it is often wrong and you will not be able to make the moves in fluency as with the old pads of old Playstations.    … Expand

But each of the characters' stories were not as funny, or compelling as before. Story mode is okay but it's not that interesting. It's like the previous games but with the added rage move. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Pretty much the same

    Roster is quite big. Despite the lack of some fan-favourites (inc. myself) such as: Julia, Lei WuLong and Bruce; veteran characters such as Kazuya, Heihachi, Asuka, Law, Paul..are still here. Roster is wide enough for both casual and hardcore players. Too bad this game got the junk characters such as Gigas, Lucky and animals: Kuma-Panda. What a wasted slots. And yes, this time, the game has one special guest character from the SF series: Akuma

    Story mode is one of the major disappointments of the game. Obviously not satisfying for those who want to see what's gonna happen to Mishima Storyline (Unlike Injustice 2, story mode is quite weak and pretty limited by character selection). Gameplay is also lame, not even giving you proper gameplay and many more (so i don't want to give any spoiler)

    Main gameplay mechanics remained same. Tekken 7 introduced two new main mechanics: Power Crusher and Rage Art. Bound moves are finally removed from the game. Rage Art is basically special super move for each character. Rage still exists, but does not add as much damage as it would in T6 and TTT2. Rage's new function is to give characters access to Rage Arts. Lastly, power crushers let you absorb the damage that come from attacks and continue with a move whichever you want. Character commands are pretty much same with the older entries except the minor differences.

    On the other hand, sound effects are another using of old samples. Can’t say voice actions are so great. As for music…well this is a disaster single-handedly. Clearly worst in the series. Fortunately, PS4 owners can modify their own BGMs via jukebox option (it’s pretty randomized tho.)

    Indeed graphics are outdated and not next-gen at all. After seeing Injustice 2 story mode’s quality, difference is considerably clear. Especially hair models look so plastic and lame. I still have no idea, why they completely removed those vanilla Tekken 7 stages for no reason. New ones are look so filtered and non-realistic.

    Weird wig models and colors are still part of customization mode. Almost nothing is new in this mode thus they even put the same outfits from TTT2.. such laziness. Not to mention those ridiculous and junk accessories that Namco insistly put on it. Nothing is unusual and out of inspired. Nowhere near Injustice 2 customization feature. Only good thing about this mode: it's theme.

    Verdict.. well this is another cheap, unsatisfying and insufficent installment of the franchise. I think this is the result of aiming arcade community all over. Still good for versus-online modes but definitely not good for whole console packaging. I don’t think casual gamers gonna praise it.     I was actually extremely excited for this release, I actually took the day off work to play it as I'd eagerly awaiting for months for this to hit the shelves, so I got up early and got down to the local games retailer and bought it, very excited. Firstly I was pretty upset about the roster cutbacks, I lost my 2    Very disappointing in comparison to virtually all of the previous games.

    I was actually extremely excited for this release, I actually took the day off work to play it as I'd eagerly awaiting for months for this to hit the shelves, so I got up early and got down to the local games retailer and bought it, very excited.

    Firstly I was pretty upset about the roster cutbacks, I lost my 2 main characters (Lei/Roger) and I'm not the only one... Where are the other classic characters??? Mokujin? Armor King? Marduk?????? Instead they are replaced by weeb-friendly characters like Eliza and Lucky Chloe. The guest character could have been a good idea, if they took a character from a 3D fighter and reworked it rather than using Akuma from 2D Street Fighter, just feels wrong.

    Story mode is about as interesting as paint drying, the new screw system just isn't as fun and fast paced as the juggle/bound system on T6 & TTT2, and don't even get me started on Rage Art, way to dumb down the game and make it accessible for any old button-masher to win! Namco/Harada did this game for the money and definitely not for the die-hard fans.

    However I will commend the deep character customisation, it can be pretty good fun messing around with all the possibilities there.

    TL;DR - personal opinion 4/10 due to lack of content esp for age-old Tekken fans like myself (played since the first) also Namco's plan to monopolise on DLC by releasing about 15 chars on roster then releasing the rest as extra payable content, wtf happened??? But if you're a casual fighter fan and looking for something to pick up and play with friends - this is probably the best 1v1 fighter on the shelves for PS4/XB1 right now, but keep your eyes peeled.     Well I didn't like it much I may sound a bit old school but the best tekken stay tekken 3 yes this one have decent graphics and the game is fun to play 1vs1 but it's making less and less sence and the game become boring in solo after 1hr of play

    I played Tekken 5 a lot when I was a kid and I feel deeply saddened to see the carelessness and laziness of such developers to make Tekken 7. It was supposed to be the best fighting game of the generation, but the game seems to have been made anyway . Horrible PS3 graphics and poorly made character aesthetics, the basics of the characters' fight are the same as in Tekken 5.     The modes and story are weak, very weak. The story mode is a short mess. I wanted to get Paul Phoenix to super punch the narrator all the way through. The extra fighter stories are one fight and a little ending after it which are ok but add nothing to the story and you will not want to fight to go back to them again. Arcade mode is very dissapointing. The only mode where I try all fighters to see each ending. There are no endings so I have used this only once and will never go back to it, whats the point? Treasure Battles become a tedious grind. Even after grinding like hell I have not got the yellow jump suit or any decent unlocks. Maybe a twig to put on someones head after 200 fights is a joke.

    To sum up stripping the game of extra modes like tekken force or bowling to add as paid DLC is blatant thievery. The poor story and arcade modes and no survival mode is a joke. Removing two of my all time fave fighters Baek and Lei and many many others is unacceptable. Who does not like a Bruce Lee vs Jackie Chan grudge match with your mates? All of this along with poor online connections has prevented this game becoming the best in the series.

    Season 1. Seaon one is hands down the worst season pass I ever bought. Tekken bowl was included before free so is there going to be online? No. Can you play more than 2 people? No. Poor effort. 2 guest fighters also came with season one. First was Geese. Geese was a bit of nostalgia trip bit I soon bored of him like Akuma. 2d fighters dont seem great in Tekken IMO. The second fighter Noctis from Final Fantasy XV is so annoying Id rather pick Lucky Chloe.

    Season 2 is coming with Negan, worst character in the TWD series. Could be up there in the annoying stakes with Noctis and Lucky Chloe. And there will also be some badly missed fighters added like Anna and Lei. Harada said any returning fighters would not be paid dlc. For this reason along with the worst season pass I ever bought and poor full release I will never buy another Tekken game again.     I got used to the blurriness and didn't notice it much during fights, so it's not that bad.

    Story mode wasn't as good as I was expecting. The main story covers only about 5 of the characters, and isn't very interesting. I remember the story in one of the Tekken Tag Tournament games (forgot which one) was more interesting and involving than this.

    As for the other characters, you get only a couple of paragraphs each for them and a single fight. This is as close to "no story at all" as you can get.

    And to top off story mode, most of the non-Japanese voice acting is bad. I've gotten used to being able to switch to Japanese in other fighting games so I wouldn't have to deal with horrible English voice acting. There's no option here since everyone speaks their native language. Besides that, it is a little weird that everyone partakes in multi-language conversations.

    As for unlockables, there's a large number of player-specific health bar/menu skins which are useless unless you play online. There's a small number of unlockable costumes and costume pieces. Compared to Soul Caliber V, the costume pieces are higher quality and fit the characters better, but there's much less variety. There's also extras videos from the previous games that you can pay in-game money to unlock. These are sort of useless since I can watch them on youtube or by playing the previous games.

    As for how to unlock things, you can either play online or play treasure battles. The treasure battles are just regular fights that go on forever. Each time you win, you get a random item, most of which are not primary costume pieces. It's not that fun and I wish there was some sort of unlock progression or grid where you can choose which direction to go with what you want to unlock.

    So yeah, no skill challenges, no mini games that involve fighting, nor other interesting things that make single-player play more fun. Fighting continuous battles or online play is all you get.

    Extras are bare too. No battle recorder, no commentary, no figures (like in Guilty Gear), no good photo mode/poser, nor anything else that you might be able to sink your time into without going online.

    I hope this trend of no-single-player content doesn't continue. Well, I've always got DOA and Guilty Gear. But it might only be a matter of time before they strip away all of their content and revert to being bare-bones fighting games too.    … Expand

    -No tekken force, tekken bowl, scenario campaign mode...nothing, How are these games 70 euro is mind boggling. I'm tired of this generations greed with money.
    Bottom line is telling you to not buy this game unless you love to play online competitively. There is nothing to do offline after you finish story mode in 2 hours and thats the truth    … Expand

They rushed this game out.     Longest loading screen in any tekken before. In tekken 3-5 loading was almost instant. Also a lot of annoying “buy character, buy accessories etc”.
    Tekken 3-5 was great, 6 and 7 - was very disappointed.

    The game is a throwback to previous versions. graphics for a powerful hardware like the ps4. The story mode was totally compromised and changed for the worse. The game had huge and unnecessary loading as for example when I asked for a replay in multiplayer. It takes a long time to find an opponent.

And the Rage Art thing is crap - you can perform a special powerful move when you hit below 20% energy, effectively rewarding you for losing and arbitrarily trying to make it a close fight.     Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, Dragonball and NRS games have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

    If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.    … Expand

    Pro's
    - Music is alright. Some of them are ok - amazing. With jukebox you can choose every tekken Soundtrack.
    - Graphics
    - Playing with your friends (if you have some)
    - A lot of characters u can choose from ( also viewed negatively but i will come back to this point later)

    Con's
    - To many Characters (I think there are 50). If you play casually and ur fine with it getting ur ass beat all the time because u don't know the moves than its ok. But playing competetive is so depressing because learning every move in this game is actually impossible. There are 5000 of them. Good luck.
    - DLC pay to win. Not every DLC-character but most of them are PTW. They have moves that original character dont have or are not that good. A little example: Negans Powercrush launcher (wtf), Fahkumrams insane backdash, movement in general, absurd moves, DMG and broken hitbox. No one knows what to do against zafina. And don't get me started on leroy. He's just an ultra darksouls boss with every perfect move.
    - If you play against DLC-Character and you dont have DLC, than u are screwed af. You cant lab them. You cant choose them in training to look up there moves and learning how to punish ect. Good luck playing against Zafina and Lei.
    - Costumization is a joke.
    - No offline modes that are actully fun to play
    - Playing online is cancer. The worst connection a fighting game could have. In most of the time you are playing with 4bar connection but the problem is, there are huuuuuuge lagspikes evey 5 seconds. Even if you play with 5bar. 3bar connection is sometimes worse than 1bar. This game not playable online. You are loosing so many games because of that. You can not properly punish or break grabs. I really don't know what they've done here. What a joke.
    - Playing against noctis is kinda cancer. Same with leroy and negan. Why are negan, leroy and noctis play so cancer and toxic???
    - Both vulcano stages are cancer for your eyes
    - After so many years still no punishment for ragequiter. Cmon what is this? Do they even care about this game?    … Expand

    I love Tekken even though I have never been any good at it. I only play it casually with my brothers, but it is always fun. The only real reason I am rating this so poorly is because of how awful the graphics are. I know that graphics are not the most important thing, especially in a fighting game, but....Tekken 7 looks like a PS3 game unless you are running it on a PS4 PRO. The only real reason I am rating this so poorly is because of how awful the graphics are. I know that graphics are not the most important thing, especially in a fighting game, but....Tekken 7 looks like a PS3 game unless you are running it on a PS4 PRO. The game looked amazing in the trailers, but it is clear to me now that they were showing us the PS4 PRO version. As much as I wanted to ignore and tell myself that it did not look that bad, it did. Some of the textures are embarrassingly bad, there is no denying that. It will look like a last gen PS3 game a good amount of the time. Other than that, if you can ignore the fact that it looks awful, it really is a brilliant game with tons of things to do and lots of awesome characters. I just really cannot believe that the PS4 cannot do such a simple game at 1080p. I am re-rating this from a score of 3 to a score of 1 because I forgot to mention that the online is not working for pretty much anyone.     Online is straight trash with piss poor matchmaking and horrible lags on the PS4. There is also more input delay on PS4. Not worth it...Namco should fix this game with a patch!

    They ruined Tekken. I guess they wanted to make it more like Street Fighter, but to me the best part of Tekken was NOT being like SF. The new flashy animations and particle effects add nothing, in fact they're just distracting and disorienting. The less said about the money-grubbing microtransactions just to get characters that should have been included in the base game, the better.

    Everything is fine but the on line mode is garbage. Many connection fails to the opponents that make the wait too long until it finally works. It is really frustrating and the money I paid for the game is not worth it.

Like the prequels, Tekken 7 is geared towards casual gamers and anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, DoA and MK games have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

    If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.    … Expand

It features the same sort of simple, slow-paced, good-looking action that's enabled this series to squeak by for all these years, but the addition of a few new fighters, a new mode, and some tweaks to the gameplay don't stop this from being a rather simple, shallow game.

    At a glance, the Tekken games do nothing to distinguish themselves from better-known 3D fighting game series, like Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur, and Dead or Alive. This new game features 38 different characters, who mostly look like a bunch of hipsters who'd be more at home in a dance club than in a fighting arena. The vast majority of these characters return from previous Tekkens, and one thing both the old and new characters have in common is their ability to mash out attacks without much skill. Strangely, the designers seem to have run out of move ideas, as all of the newer Tekken characters reuse moves previously seen in past games.

    OK, maybe all the viable martial arts ideas have already been used up. But, really, that's part of the problem. Apart from the characters' abilities, which they can use from the first moment of any match at the press of a button, the fighters in Tekken 7 are capable of the sorts of things you'd expect to see in any uninspired fighting game. simple combos reward button mashing, as each fighter can easily string together punches and kicks for some pretty big damage. Some moves launch opponents into the air, and you may continue to juggle them on their way down with still more attacks. Strings of a half-dozen or more hits are common. Some countermoves and guard-crushing moves are available, respectively, for dealing with opponents who are too reckless or too defensive. But these are par for the course in the genre and are rarely worth the risk when the alternative is to keep churning out quick, easy, damaging combos. Mechanically, the game works ok. The controls are sluggish, and the action, for the most part, is repetative. The average fighting-game player with any level of proficiency should be able to see through this game's limited strategies and moves list relatively quickly. As any long-running fighting game series tends to, Tekken does have its own modest following, and these players should appreciate some of the nuanced changes to the gameplay, if for no other reason than that they're nuances.

    Tekken also packs some gameplay tweaks, the most notable of which is the fact that characters now randomly slow down when they attack eacho other, this "feature" however only breaks the flow of the match and shows just how bad and dated tekkens animations are. On the other hand, rage arts tekkens new super move can end a round in seconds. Actually, some of the characters become quite overpowered as a result of this change.

    The story mode of Tekken lets you fight through one opponent after another until you reach the final battle, which is predicated on some completely inane dialogue. The dialogue is all dubbed in English and is poorly translated, but it can be entertaining if for no other reason than its sheer absurdity. The rest of the audio is serviceable but understated and forgettable. As mentioned, the AI in Tekken 7 really doesn't present much of a challenge, though, as a two-player game, it could theoretically be fun for a while. Tekken 7 runs at a very smooth frame rate for the most part, though in some situations there's noticeable, annoying slowdown. The characters look quite bland and animations are notably dated, and the variety of backgrounds, while predictable, also look ok. Most of the returning characters look the same as ever, but one of the strangest new additions to this Tekken is a glowing effect, whereby certain moves will cause the character to light up. which seems rather ridiculous. The shallowness limits this game's already limited audience, as there's really nothing to be found here--or at least nothing beyond what you can find in any other fighting game.

    Tekken 7 is a predictable follow-up to a series that's never aimed particularly high. Fans of fighting games may appreciate it since it does offer more than a dozen different characters to play around with, and some of the character designs are actually pretty appealing. Still, this one can mostly be recommended only to those who really like fighting games, in general, or to those who are looking for a casual, anime-style game to play with like-minded friends.    … Expand

    The game has devolved to a sort of bum rush beat-em up. Whoever gets to juggle to the wall first wins. A lot of powerful moves that are easy to execute and with a lot of range, which in-turn makes movement and side-stepping irrelevant. Just play characters with launchers that are good crushers then you're good to go.

A working online mode should be the bare minimum, so should an anti-cheat system and all the dozens of other things that Tekken lacks despite them being the industry standard. Enjoy playing against people that have played this game for decades and struggling to find anyone that's actually your skill level, since the game saves your rank locally which means you are going to spend most of your time playing against smurfs that keep resetting their account and on the off chance that you manage to beat them they will just close the game which won't count as your win because why not. After all, if you want to keep playing this game you are going to have to lower your expectations immensely. Do you want to find out just how little a company can care about its product while also acting like they are complete game design geniuses and a gift to you? Do you want to smash your controller?     The Majority of this game is great, there is just one thing that the game has that is rendering it on ps4 it's the load times. the load times are so terrible that it gets a 0 if there a patch reducing this and taking the player out of combat then i would give it a 10.

    Amazing, not one person mentions the price of the DLC characters, if you want the full game to date you would have to spend $160.00, not including characters still being released at $6.00 to $8.00 a piece.

    The graphics are great and that's about it. Disappointing story, arcade mode and treasure mode are trash, a bit too much lag, disappointing roster, and the online is broken you can hardly get a match. I expected better after 3 years of waiting...

    Online is a disaster! At least on consoles. It's really hard to find matches and if you do find one it's very likely to lag. It's awful.
    Also the graphics aren't what we expected. I mean, tekken 7 on xbox one runs at 720p! This is a bad joke!

    The online is broken and tournament is the only mode that "works". The netcode barely functions and you'll get a lot of laggy matches. $60 a year to be unable to play online.

    Get the PC version instead.

    Low resolution and frame rate drops on PS4, much less single player content and customization options than Injustice 2, the game at best feels like last gen.
    Although it may quench the thirst of franchise fans who have been waiting long for a new instalment in the franchise.

    Tekken 7 is very much Tekken, exactly like you've always known it. Luckily the game knows how to get maximum gain out of seemingly minimal additions, like the flashy Rage Arts, tactical Power Crushes and surprisingly spectacular presence of Street Fighter icon Akuma. But due to the pretentious and disappointing single-player content it will never be a classic.
