I initially gave this a 4 given how little content the base game has... If you get this including season pass on an offer for £20-25 it is, however, actually fairly good.

I have now been playing around 9 hours after I forced myself to get into it, and am now at level 13. I can safely say SW:BF gets better once you have a few item unlocks, when you know the maps, and when you can distinguish the good from the bad modes - walker assault for instance is pretty amazing once you know what you have to do. It is still basic shallow pew-pew shooting but it pulls you in, especially the endor map. Hero hunt on the other hand is a load of BS, avoid this... Mediocre/potentially fun modes are cargo (CTF equivalent) and fighter squadron... the latter can be fun to jump into every now and again, but it is frustrating how barren the gameplay is at times.

Overall this game has grown on me over the past few days, and anyone who is a serious star wars fan should give it a go. It is, however, nothing more than a shallow 3rd person/fps game that could have been so much more... if only DICE had added classes and a single player campaign...

    Buy only when on offer.

I LOVE BATTLEFIELD AND STAR WARS!! So why am I giving this a middling score?!

Sure the fan service is HERE, but what you are given are 4-5 stages, some cool story characters to play as and thats it. For the exception of the normal leveling, battlepack and stat system similar to DICE multiplayer games, there isn't much else in the base game. Also, forget the single player, there isn't much there except a tutorial to the MP.

DICE and a lot of other companies NEED to see the writing on the wall. YOUR COMMUNITIES ARE NOT BUYING THE DLC!!! Simply look at the map browser, tell me how many games are being played on a DLC map. Yeah. (Sorry about the rant)

Considering you can get this relatively cheap now, you won't feel as cheated as I was.

For 20 bucks, ITS WORTH IT! But be ready to shell out cash for the DLC if you see a lacking product.

EA took everything away from the classic battlefronts and created an entirely different game that can't help but feel like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Even though this game was very different from the originals I gave it a shot and at first I loved it. This love for this game lasted about 2 months before I got bored of playing the same exact thing almost everyday. Battlefront had no longevity at all due to its poor amount of content at release. With expansions however this game becomes much more playable and enjoyable. The season pass is now only 30$ which gives the player a lot of new content, meaning that the online of the game is improved significantly. The local multiplayer on the other hand is almost non-existent sadly and so is a story/campaign mode. Battlefront is game that one should dedicate much time to as the enjoyment of the game is taken away as one quickly loses interest in the multiplayer. Expand

At least the graphics and sounds are fantastic, but i could load up on some LSD and clean my flower garden and have a deeper and more rewarding experience than picking up some dead stormtroopers mario money in this game. Some of you may say "Hey now! they've added lots of exciting DLC and expansions!" well hemorrhoids can be exciting also, and i could play with that offline (unlike the DLC) but it cant fix an already painful BM session. Battlefront is the painful BM of the year. It gave me some long hard BMs just by being awful and shallow and reaching into my wallet while i had my pants down for the said BM. how could you EA. You destroyed a franchise, a classic, a memory, and a perfectly good digestive tract. Shame on you. Expand

How is it possible to create a star wars game with no single player at all? Very disappointing and laziness from EA. This game could've been amazing if it had a single player campaign. The graphics and shooting is nice but besides those 2 everything else is a disappointment
This game is just pure multiplayer and nothing else.

The shading, lighting, coloring, and literally everything else graphically is perfection. However as i have stated the game is lacking. Game play wise is okay. The shooting is pretty solid and controlling can feel stiff sometimes but overall is fine. The maps are huge and controlling vehicles is a lot of fun. The air combat is pretty standard but again is fine. Weapons all feel pretty similar and so do the star cards. Hero's are so much fun but the fact you have to pick up a token to play as one is stupid and creates camping in those spawning areas. Progression and unlocks happen far too slow. But the worst part of this game is the lack of content. Almost no single player content except for tutorial missions which is so sad. The missions are all pretty basic so if you want to play offline alone there isn't much for you. There are literally 4 launch maps for the standard edition which is outrageous. There is only a handful of good multiplayer modes as well. The amount of content for the base game is so disappointing and after a while you feel like you experienced everything that can happen and it makes the game feel shallow. A disappointing experience done as beautiful as possible. Expand

Story: Story? You expect a story for 60 euros? You idiot.
Gameplay: You press your trigger button. Your weapon fires. The other player dies. It makes sounds. It looks fun. And that's the gameplay in a nutshell. Oh yes, you got special moves now and then that work halve of the time, and otherwise give you an epileptic attack by watching it.
Multiplayer: Well... that's what it is.... and it's okay halve of the time. Other times it's boring and frustrating.
Co-op: This is actually the better part of the game, offering races on shooting motorbikes, letting you fight waves of stormtroopers, big ass robots and aircrafts. I enjoyed playing this with my friends.

If this game had been 30 euros, i would have understand the lack of content. But for 60 euros, and a 50 euro season pass? **** you EA, this is just a scam.

Overall it's an underwhelming game. I give it a 5/10.

Call of Battlefield: Star Wars Edition. This game is nothing like the original series, it took Battlefield, and replaced all the guns with blasters instead. Very mediocre considering it's supposed to be Battlefront. Still worth the purchase if you can find it on sale like I did.

No microtransactions :-). But nothing like the 2005 battlefront everyone loved. No content. No campaign. Vehicles require a boring uncreative token system. Great graphics and environment textures. Best gun play in the series. Very disapointing. Go play the 2005 or 2017 battlefront.

Star Wars Battlefront is a good game (not if you only love single player). The visual are stunning and the controls are ok. The weapon variety is good and the map design accommodates the flow of the match. The starfighter combat may not please some hardcore fans but it accessible and easy to learn and I can not say enough how satisfying is it to kill someone in a dogfight. On the firsthand, the UI is so hard to navigate through to find what you want. Once you jump through those hoops, the arcade mode is really fun. Me and my friends had fun with it. As to let you know, I'm not a hardcore Battlefront person because I mostly play for multiplayer. So if my review doesn't go with all the bad ones, it's because I don't do campaign and co-op.

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.
