    This game is quite enjoyable and is really fun, if you are worrying about other reviews that you have seen,like IGN and them giving this game a 2, don’t be because I think that is a little harsh, they are complaining that the game doesn’t add anything to the original.     Love this game the only thing that needs improving is spongebob's jumping mechanic i was in jellyfish fields on the balancing platform the jump wasn't fluid like the original

    This is just like the original, just a new coat of paint. This is what i call a plate cleanser, play this between 2 major games. Platinum trophy is on the easier side just takes time.

    Let me start off by saying this: this game is no 3/10 or anything like that. Far from it. Nor is it this stellar 8 or 9 or 10. Not even close. That just tells me that is nostalgia talking. I say this as a guy that has grown up and played the original countless times. When this game was first announced I was stoked to see a ground-up remake of such a niche little platformer. Now that it'sLet me start off by saying this: this game is no 3/10 or anything like that. Far from it. Nor is it this stellar 8 or 9 or 10. Not even close. That just tells me that is nostalgia talking. I say this as a guy that has grown up and played the original countless times. When this game was first announced I was stoked to see a ground-up remake of such a niche little platformer. Now that it's finally in my possession, I did end up having mixed feelings about the whole thing. Where the game was able to make improvements in some areas, it failed to do so with others. It's a shame, because had this game been given more time we would have had something on par with that of the Crash and Spyro remakes.

    To get some negative points out of the way, and this is honestly a personal gripe of mine, but it honestly is a bummer that the game did not get re-recorded dialogue and revamped music. I understand the mentality of not wanting to change what people fondly remember, but obviously Crash and Spyro did not have to adhere to that. Much of the game's original voice cast is still with the show to this very day so it wouldn't have been that difficult to re-record the script with them (we could have even had Clancy Brown come back as Mr. Krabs). And while the music itself is perfectly serviceable, it could have definitely benefited from some snazzy remixes to really make it feel that much special. You can even just toggle between the originals and the remixes and that would have been great too. Some of the physics are noticeably different as well, ranging from more subtle things like Sandy's lasso swinging to more blatant examples like a teetering rock in Jellyfish Fields that just refuses to let me jump off of. That's really only a minor problem since that isn't a constant issue, but it's still noticeable. It's also weird how the game is missing certain animations from the original, has far more frequent and lengthy load times and texture pop-in. This game lacks much needed polish, and it feels like it ended up this way just so it could have coincided with the new SpongeBob Movie's original release date before getting pushed back.

    Really, most of my gripes primarily stem from a technical level. I have no doubt that a few of these issues can be easily patched out, but I'm going to review the product as was originally sold to me. What this game improves upon is more aesthetics than anything else. Aside from the aforementioned texture pop-in, the game looks super colorful and bouncy, and the redone cutscenes do enough to play like a proper 3-D episode of the show. Areas like Jellyfish Fields and SpongeBob's Dream really benefit the most from the graphical facelift. They even managed to throw in some SpongeBob memes while they were at it because of course they would. While I'm disappointed that the dialogue wasn't re-recorded, it's still solid stuff with plenty of memorable quotes to this day.

    At its core, BfBB is a collect-a-thon platformer in the same vein as Mario and Banjo. You collect the macguffins to progress through each area. The controls are still solid, there's some pretty fun and creative platforming challenges with enough variety to keep things from getting stale. Combat isn't all that fun and the boss fights are pathetic, but you're not really playing the game for that. While there is certainly not much special about it from a gameplay perspective, what made the original so beloved was the fact that it was a licensed video game that gave a damn. Finding a solid licensed game at all is a rarity, so for BfBB to reach this level of cult status is a testament to how much the original developers cared about what they were making.

    You're level of enjoyment with this game is going to be primarily determined by your attachment to the original. If you have never experienced BfBB before, I recommend waiting for this to go on sale and for some of the extra kinks to get ironed out. If you are a fan of the original, as long as you aren't expecting real overhauls to the core game, then this will be right up your alley. Me, I was certainly expecting much more from this. It feels much more like a clumsy "remaster" than a "remake". It has a nice facelift, but not much else. A solid enough game, but if you still have your original copy lying around I wouldn't trade it in.    … Expand

    It has a lot of nostalgia within its underwater core, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. This is a perfect example of an impressive remaster that is enjoyable and worth paying $30 for. The graphics look great in game and in cutscenes, the characters have the same lines from the previous Playstation 2 classic, and it brings nostalgia back even more. All in all it's a lovely remaster of a classic Playstation 2 game that will rub your nostalgia bone to the core.… Expand

    Overall, what I was mainly looking for in this game was that it reignited that spark I had as a child. That same spark that made me want to endlessly search for golden spatulas and Patrick’s socks. Did this game achieve that? Absolutely. But it is not without its flaws.

    Pros -Great animation and graphics. -Same great story we know and love -Simple/Uncomplicated UI -Great fast travel tool    Overall, what I was mainly looking for in this game was that it reignited that spark I had as a child.     -Buggy, I have encountered at least 6 or 7 bugs in the ~7 hours of gameplay. 2 were game breaking and I had to reload my game.
    -Camera can get weird at times
    -Controls don’t feel tight and intuitive


    All in all, I’m more than happy to have paid $30 for this game, and I intend to finish collecting all those golden spatulas and socks as I did all those years ago. Yes sometimes the game bugs out, and acts up, but in the grand scheme of things, that’s not enough to straight up ruin my gameplay experience. So while not perfect, this is still a great game especially at its price point.    … Expand

    great game but too many bugs to care about i appreciate all the wasted time to platinum this thing i gave the devs plenty of time to address the game breaking spatula glitches and after two updates... shocker folks... not fixed so I fixed it myself by throwing it away. Thanks THQ Nordic. Good job

    The game's visuals are stunning, but the bugs are inevitable. I had been playing this game for like 10 minutes and i have found the first bug. The game has really bad collision. The developers wanted to cram so much into this game that is too overwhelming to the point that is bad level design. I had beaten this game and I can clearly say that it is bad.

    When I was a kid, I really loved to play this game on PS2. It was one of my favorite games.
    Playing Spongebob on PS4 was kind of disappointing, because the game isn't perfect. There are some problems...Even the graphics aren't very good for a PS4 game (many items don't have shadows, for example).
    However, "Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated" is very fun to play.

    Ахтунг: Обзор будет адекватен и не оценен через призму ностальгии. Так как не был знаком с оригинальной игрой изначально (кроме как картинки и прохождения в инете). Сюжет: Хочется сказать пару слов о самой завязки сюжета игры. По моему скромному мнению, сюжет основанный на битве против роботов никак не подходит под тематику игры по Губки Бобу.     Сюжет:
    Хочется сказать пару слов о самой завязки сюжета игры. По моему скромному мнению, сюжет основанный на битве против роботов никак не подходит под тематику игры по Губки Бобу. Но, учитывая тот факт, что по другому идею для игры, по данному мультсериалу, не придумаешь, простительно. А если уже говорит про саму историю, то стартует за здравие, а заканчивает за упокой. Вся концовка слита в унитаз.
    Управление:
    Игра очень не плохо адаптирована под клавиатуру и мышку. (Хотел бы я сказать). Вот только вся прелесть прохождения игры на клавиатуре ощущается прекрасно до момента, когда доходишь до гонок. Мне пришлось ближе к финалу брать уже геймпад, потому что пройти гонки без него уже было просто невозможно.

    Техническая часть игры:
    Всё больше и больше играя, было ощущение что это не ремейк игры, а просто рескин старой игрухи . В игре куча багов их просто тьма. Ниже приложу пару скришотов.

    Отсылки и юмор:

    Чем дальше проходил, тем больше отсылок к сериям из мультсериала находил. К примеру, картины из домов персонажей отсылают к тем или иным событиям в мульте. Кстати как подмечал itpedia, юмор в игре так же основан на взаимоотношениях персонажей из сериала. К примеру, про получение прав Губки Боба у Миссис Паф.

    В заключении хочу сказать, что игра понравиться исключительно фанатам Губки Боба и платформеров. Хотелось бы подметить, что игра атмосферная и так и погружает тебя в Бикини Ботом. Однозначно рекомендую к прохождению.

    The game doesn't even have invincibility after getting hit. Which means when you get hit by an enemy it just keeps hitting you and knocking you back 10 feet and you'll have to redo sections over and over and over and over again. If you want actual challenge, play something like Crash, which is actually precise and fair. The user scores here are insane.

Es 100% fiel a la versión del 2003, incorporando ahora referencias a capítulos posteriores de esa versión, además de haber añadido en su más reciente actualización el pack de voces en español latino, contando con todo el elenco de doblaje de las temporadas másOriginalmente lo jugué en GameCube cuando recién salió, y volver a jugarlo en su versión remake fue una bomba nostálgica. Es 100% fiel a la versión del 2003, incorporando ahora referencias a capítulos posteriores de esa versión, además de haber añadido en su más reciente actualización el pack de voces en español latino, contando con todo el elenco de doblaje de las temporadas más entrañables (las primeras 3, sólo que con la voz de Luis Carreño como Bob Esponja).

    Mis únicas quejas serían que hicieron más fáciles a algunos jefes (no diré cuáles), que el multiplayer (modo nuevo) se vuelve repetitivo porque sólo cuenta con una misión coop y algunos bugs aparecidos espontáneamente en el juego, sin embargo el equipo de THQ le ha estado dando mantenimiento y se valora mucho el esfuerzo y cariño que pusieron en este juego.    … Expand

In this game you play as Spongebob, Patrick, and Sandy trying to stop robots running around messing things up in Bikini Bottom, yeah that’s it. So starting off this game looks so beautiful, everything looks just like the show except in 3D. Everything has a very Saturday morning cartoon feeling, because it isSpongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated: I love being a kid. In this game you play as Spongebob, Patrick, and Sandy trying to stop robots running around messing things up in Bikini Bottom, yeah that’s it. So starting off this game looks so beautiful, everything looks just like the show except in 3D. Everything has a very Saturday morning cartoon feeling, because it is HAHAHAHA. I’ll go home. But it really sells with the voice acting because they pretty much got the whole cast to come back except for Mr Krabs and Mermaid Man don’t know why but they don’t sound good at all, but Tom Kenny, Bill **** Rodger Bumpass, Mr Lawrence, and Carolyn Lawrence all return as there characters and it takes my nostalgia feelings to skyrocket. But there are some complaints I have one is in the Spongebob’s Dream Level and it involves the Mr Krabs level, ITS SO **** BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY BULLSHAT ROBOTS THAT YOU HAVE TO KILL IN ORDER FOR THE KRABBY PATTY INGREDIENTS TO FLOAT DOWN SO YOU CAN KILL THE GENERATORS THAT ARE SPAWNING THE ROBOTS. ok I’m done. Overall I love the voice acting, graphics and gameplay I even 100% the game and got the platinum trophy so yeah I love this game some people might not but I don’t care my opinion is my opinion.     Not a great remake, yes it has better graphic and looks amazing but the new animation still look stale, as well as some of the game play. Sliding is no longer fun, the removed certain things to the original (like mrs puffs close up), and the multiplayer is horrible. Yes, if you don’t own a older console this is good to play, but compared to the original it’s bad.

    THE HORRENDOUS BALL SEGMENT!!! -Such a disgusting, terrible, repulsive level design that is legit harder than playing uncharted on crushing. I lost an hour of my life to this stupid segment. The fact that they legit made this a mandatory thing to do is stupendous.

    It's want you need to have a nice remake. Playing the videogame had returned to my childhoodness and all aspects are better. Moreover the platinium is very easy. I recommend a lot

    Das Spiel wird ab ein gewissen Punkt sehr öde. Die Gags fande ich fast alle gut die ich so gehört habe und die Bossfights fande ich leider ziemlich langweilig

    Average gameplay and platforming, camera problems in some scenes. Good music and beautiful locations, you can pass once, but not more.

    Although the gameplay and character models feel refreshed (Patrick’s limbs are delightfully floppy), the level design pales when compared to newer 3D platformers. Fully remade,2 including a remastered soundtrack, Battle For Bikini Bottom proves to be fun on a technical level, but the barren worlds, many NPCs you cannot interact with, and vexing objectives (the rolling ball in Mermaid Man’s lair, anybody?) make it fun and frustrating in equal measure. Fans won’t want to leave this one at the bottom of the sea. [Issue#178, p.82]

    Lots of charm and lots of content, still worth the investment if you’re a nostalgic soul, looking for a fresh dose of bikini bottom action. Some aspects - the amount of texture pop-in, to name one - undeniably feel a bit dated, though.
