It is a shame to see that this game is being completely bombed by critics that I won't mention, cough cough IGN & GameSpot. This is a faithful remake that stays true to what it was and the time it was from. Another unfair criticism is that the game feels old, yeah no s**t, the game was originally made in 2003. Maybe if they killed off Spongebob and chopped Patricks arm off it would be a 10/10 according to IGN standards. The game is a beautiful new look on the original cult classic and it's only $30, what more could you ask for.… Expand

    I had to buy this in order to take away the filthy feeling that I got after watching TLOU2, this game plays better than the PS2 version and the graphics are soo lovely to see, this game actually gives you a good feeling when you play it, I rather gave them my money than the TLOU2 hahaha.

    A solid HD remake of a solid platformer. Just like the original, it isn't difficult, but won't hold your hand. Visuals look great with the HD models and textures.

    From the deep plot to the amazing level design to the lovely characters, spongebob squarepants BFBBR is a masterpiece without a doubt. Better than the last of us part 2 by a mile. i honestly think this game should be game of the year.

The LGBTQ+ ideology isn't as promoted as desired but still thanks for what you did. I always had a feeling while gaming like c'mon THQ Nordic you have a great platform and people are really hyped about your project. PLEASE ADD MORE BLACK LGBTQ+ FEMALE REPRESENTATION TO YOUR GAMES IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT PEOPLE IRL DYING BECAUSE OF MISUNDERSTANDING AND INTOLERANCE THAT LEAD TO A PURE HATRED
    The gameplay itself is fun, the game reminds of those oldschool games I played with my fathers as a kid. No doubt it is 10/10, even 12/10 really.
    I've bought this game for myself for the PS4 and for my boyfriend for his Switch. We now have so much of these happy pride moments discussing the game after hours we spent on it. I'm really grateful to THQ Nordic and Nikelodeon for the game and me and my bf just can't stand waiting for the its sequel
    P.S For those who did actually read it...
    I forgot about the story. It's simple as it should be, no mysoginist sex scenes or masculine violence or schovinist ideas.

    Mr. Krabs’s voice acting is terrible. Every time he speaks I don’t feel like I’m in Spongebob world anymore.

    Otherwise the game is great and brings back good memories.

    The game is total eye candy, a different style from the original for sure but in many ways it's a good thing it differentiates itself from the original like this.

    A few glitches than are more frustrating than enjoyable, such as oddly small hitboxes on Spatulas making certain challenges a pain in the ass just because you miss the Spatula too many times. Random and extreme frame drops that have no relation to location at all since I could pass by the same place multiple times and not experience it every time and some times only once in one location.
    And one crash but thats UE4's special Fatal Error bs.
    A few miscellaneous bugs and glitches here and there that make the game odd and sometimes dumb like not jumping when on a trampoline or Bubble Bowl hitting a pebble and being shot into the stratosphere.

    These are my only real issues with the game and most of them can be ironed out quite well. Once the majority of these glitches have been resolved the game may as well be a 10/10.    … Expand

    Многие говорили что игры про спанч боба уже не те что они скатились и тп, я скажу одно вы придурки они же сказали там новый движок абсолютно гиперреалестичная графика и неймоверно крутой саундтрек вы слушали эту виликолепную симфонию в трейлере?     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a remake that does exactly what it sets out to do. The original game released in 2003 to cult acclaim for its surprisingly polished platforming mechanics for a licensed game. All those years ago, it's impact was made by how absolutely well done for a videogame based on a cartoon based on a sea sponge. Now, this classic returns, and its claim to fame in this modern world is an absolutely competent 3D platformer collectathon. With most attempts to return to this genre being lukewarm outside of a tiny handful of AAA titles, it's refreshing to have this salvaged from the past.

    The main gameplay loop of Rehydrated involves leaping around beloved Bikini Bottom and its surrounding locales collecting anything that glows. There are Shiny Objects, the game's currency used mostly for opening new areas within levels, Patrick's Sock Collection, a set of smaller rewards for exploring level, and the game's ultimate treasure: Golden Spatulas. These pieces of gilded grilling gear open up new levels and bosses to progress through the game, acting similarly to Super Mario 64's stars or Banjo Kazooie's Jiggies. As you collect more of these, you unlock more levels, all leading up to the showdown with the game's final boss in the Chum Bucket.

    Most of the enjoyment doesn't come from simply doing the bare minimum to get here, however, most of it comes from scouring these familiar Spongebobby environments for more Shiny Objects, Socks, and of course Spatulas and aiming for 100% completion. This is partly a result of the sensory reward of actually collecting these. Shiny Objects make satisfying ringing noises that increase in pitch the more you collect in a short period of time, getting more and more exciting the faster you collect them. Socks will celebrate their own capture with mild fanfare. Golden Spatulas will play a short cutscene with cheers announcing your victory. Finding these objects is a blast, collecting them is incredibly satisfying.

    On the topic of sound design, the soundtrack for Rehydrated is rightly heralded as a classic. You'll romp through stages listening to a myriad of catchy tunes of varying genres. From the Hawaiian inspired main themes of the game to the Extra Value Batman theme sounding throughout the Mermalair, you'll find yourself humming or whistling these earworms in your free time.

    The game stands out most visually this time around. Mimicking exactly the show's art direction (From seasons 5-10 at least), the colors are bright and vibrant, surfaces lush and full of new textures. I never thought to myself "I really want to see godrays floating through Spongebob Squarepants' house, illuminating dust motes!" but by god is it gorgeous.

    Changes from the original are mostly going to be involving enemy balance and the new Horde Mode. Robots seem a lot faster and quicker to hit, especially bosses, which really reflects upon this game's intended audience including more than 7 year olds as the original did. The game is a little tough at times, but it isn't punishing for it. Checkpoints are frequent.

    The Horde Mode is rather lackluster. If you like this game for combat, it is 100% the mode for you, but otherwise it makes for a lukewarm adventure with a few friends.

    Overall, all fans of the original should give this a visit, and new players alike should give it a chance.    … Expand

Это игра восхитительна , и многие это знают крышесносный сюжет , я наконец то увидел можно сказать вживую дом дырчатой губки , и хоть новость о его ориентация повергла меня в шок , я с детства знал что все эти дырки не просто так . И так это игра шедевр и только из за такой игры можно плакать , я и не мог ожидать что Гэрри похитят . Это не ваш Tlou2 это реальный нетс ген , ведь там видно что рисовали от руки , а не какие-то захваты мимики и тела для реалистичности нахой оно вообще надо . И я очень рад что узнал об это игре от украинца , так бы может и не признал эту игрой года , восхитительно , и хоть я в нее не играл я это знаю , настоятельно рекомендую к прохождению . Хоть нет волосатых подмых .И я знаю про такой труд не может стоить так мало , но вы охуели 2300₽ , с чего мне копить с столовой , а может я уже закончил школу знаю что нет , но я на отдыхе или мне что идти работать ?     For a remake, this game is amazing on its graphics and good for its gameplay, there are flaws here and there with the gameplay and some few bugs but other than that i’m glad this game got a remake so more people can play the game just to see what is all the praise about.

    Game really cool,idk who are hating this game,because it’s remake of old version 2003 year.It was really fun and cool,new graphics,nice FPS,it was what,which i waited for long time,i don’t care the RDR2,Witcher:Wild Hunt,TLOU2,Detroit,Heavy Rain into a PC and more,i only waited a one,i waited a remake of this game,it’s a 10/10

    I don’t get how this game could’ve gotten such a low score from so many “professional” reviewers.

    If you like the original game, you are gonna like this one too, maybe even more! A lot of attention to detail went into this and I personally love to see that. If you are a fan of Spongebob, doesn’t matter if you’re 7 or 70 years old, this game is for you! Maybe it’s the nostalgia a that    I don’t get how this game could’ve gotten such a low score from so many “professional” reviewers.

    Amazing game, it improves on the original in every sense, which was already masterpiece on its own back in the day. Its just pure fun, hands down to THQ for bringing us this gem. GOTY.

    One of the best games of this year. Beautiful graphics, plot, elaborated world. Designed 10/10. Special thanks to the developers for the excellent porting of the game on the PS4. Now I want to buy this console even more.

    I was wating for this game so much! It improves the original in everything! I did not sleep last night to finish the game. Worth it!
    The game ia fun, is gorgeous to look, almost all the original voices are there. Praise the Sponge!

    While nostalgia for this game seems pretty nice it feels like it still doesn't hold up to the original. It feels cool at first but at the end all it does is make me want to play the original.

    Although the gameplay and character models feel refreshed (Patrick’s limbs are delightfully floppy), the level design pales when compared to newer 3D platformers. Fully remade,2 including a remastered soundtrack, Battle For Bikini Bottom proves to be fun on a technical level, but the barren worlds, many NPCs you cannot interact with, and vexing objectives (the rolling ball in Mermaid Man’s lair, anybody?) make it fun and frustrating in equal measure. Fans won’t want to leave this one at the bottom of the sea. [Issue#178, p.82]

    Lots of charm and lots of content, still worth the investment if you’re a nostalgic soul, looking for a fresh dose of bikini bottom action. Some aspects - the amount of texture pop-in, to name one - undeniably feel a bit dated, though.
