    Gat out of Hell is a nice but not great stand-alone expansion sold at an appropriate full price. In fact, I picked it up for free through PS Plus. The gameplay is fun but a few design decisions make Gat out of Hell less than a AAA experience.

    Gat out of Hell is a basically a smaller version of Saint's Row IV only set in a Hell themed version of Steel Port. Your super powers are now    Gat out of Hell is a nice but not great stand-alone expansion sold at an appropriate full price. In fact, I picked it up for free through PS Plus. The gameplay is fun but a few design decisions make Gat out of Hell less than a AAA experience.

    Gat out of Hell is a basically a smaller version of Saint's Row IV only set in a Hell themed version of Steel Port. Your super powers are now demon themed, but are otherwise the same. You can glide/fly, jump, run super fast, and do super stomp or other super attacks. Upgrading is also the same: you collect orbs from the tops of buildings and money from completing missions and killing demons. Just as Saint's Row IV played like a DLC of Saint's Row III, Gat out of Hell plays like DLC of Saint's Row IV. That's ok, really. Not every game has to be a bloated 100+ hours to completion epic. Stand-alone expansions like Far Cry: Blood Dragon and Infamous: First Light were both fun and inexpensive titles. Gat out of Hell continues this tradition (if not a few years too late).

    At least Saint's Row really nails the whole point of character progression. You become incredibly powerful very quickly. Enemies don't. This means upgrading abilities and leveling up makes the character actually more powerful and more fun to play, rather than populating the world with higher level versions of the same enemies. You fight the same Archdukes at level 20 that you do at level 5, only at level 20 you can quickly hand them their ass. More games should get on board with this system.

    Gat out of Hell, however, really misses opportunities to utilize all of its assets. There are 7 special guns in the game based on the 7 deadly sins. They are fun to use, but also easily missed. Upgrades to all of the super powers are also easily missed. I found myself ready for the last mission and having only unlocked two of the special weapons and none of the upgraded abilities. For fun, I found all the map locations that unlock abilities such as making enemies bow before you or stealing the souls of enemies. But I never used the new abilities more than once to try them out. In a video game, never save the best weapons for last.

    My play through was less than 20 hours. For an open sandbox game, the playtime is ridiculously low, but for a game that is akin to a DLC, the playtime was rather robust. I spent less time playing the more excellent Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The playtime is mostly short because you can fly all over the Hellified Steel Port incredibly fast. (Flying is so fast, the fast travel locations in the game are entirely unnecessary.) Missions have been distilled to a minimum of objectives to complete, and do remind me of the original Crackdown. Despite the focus on gameplay, there are more cutscenes (including one musical number) than a game this size deserves. There are also 5 different endings.

    The game is a little rough to start. It is clearly a last gen title meant to accompany Saints Row IV. Unfortunately, this stand-alone expansion was released too late. The opening sequence makes no sense if you never played Saints Row IV and made little sense to anyone like me who has already forgotten key plot points of Saints Row IV. Dropping into Hell was confusing. Not only are you given little indication of what to do, you are also not told how to do it. Which button do I use to enter a car? How do I switch weapons? Where am I going? Even a stand-alone expansion needs a tutorial.    … Expand

    I never played any of Saints Row games before. In fact, I am new to console gaming, so for me this game was really enjoyable. Tons of fun flying around, though I am not sure what cars are for in this game, probably for explosions. Anyway, although game looks a bit dated compared to GTA5, it still is tons of fun.

    Not the best entry in the Saints Row series but it definitely has its moments.

    Pros: -New weapons -New powers -New Enemies -The Hell setting looks nice -Funny story -Cool characters -Great voice acting and sound Cons: -Slow start -It's short -Not that many activities -Gameplay is pretty similar to Saints Row 4 -Wallrunning is useless since you can fly around -Vehicles    Not the best entry in the Saints Row series but it definitely has its moments.

    Gat Out of Hell is the main extension of Saint Row 4 and given how crazy the original game was you wouldn't expect less from its extension. So yeah, you're in hell now the story is really fun with great cinematics. The gameplay follow the lead of episode 4 with a lot of "super-powers" that makes driving irrelevant, and that's good given the fact that the driving is pretty bad compared toGat Out of Hell is the main extension of Saint Row 4 and given how crazy the original game was you wouldn't expect less from its extension. The gunfights could use more attention (cover system, increased IA, etc.) to be great but it's still fun to play.

    Technically it may be the biggest downside of the game, it looks like old-gen and it's buggy as hell (I even thought I could not finish the game as I froze 3 times in a row in the same mission), the PS4 can do a lot better.

    Content wise the game is deficient as well, it will last 6 hours to reach the 100%, which is neither good or bad for an extension but there is no real mission in the game, only a bunch of side-activities that you have to do to piss off Satan and unlock cinematics, that was a big disappointment for me.

    In the end Gat Out of Hell is not a very good extension for an AAA game and it only provides the minimum to entertain you. I advise it only to hardcore fans of Saints Row 4.    … Expand

The boss battle takes a few minutes, it doesn't feel epic, really just feels like you're fighting a tank enemy that teleports and throws some little guys at you. The main story is about 5 missions and can be completed in about an hour, but the game restricts you from progressing by making you do open world game play to reach a certain rank. That's completely fine, and understandable even, but the open world game play here is tedious and too much filler.

    Other Saints Row games had a lot of story content (and better story content too), which made the open world game play better. It was a nice break from the action, and never felt like a chore. Here, 90% of the game is open world game play, so it's pretty much all filler. The super powers are back once again, and I only used like 2 of the new powers throughout the whole game because they were so OP. The rest weren't as useful or as powerful, or as easy to use, and I only used them for the related challenges. The game is heavily grind-oriented in that aspect.

    The world of Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell is just a re-imagined Steel Port with a Hell skin, and for an expansion pack that's fine, but how many times are we gonna take over Steel Port in these games? Mix it up! Saints Row IV had us become President of the US! Let's take over some other areas for a change.

    Overall the game has a lot of standard Saints Row humor, and the writing is still entertaining and well-delivered, but all the filler content and epic story with mediocre execution just doesn't make this as good a game as Saints Row the Third or Saints Row IV    … Expand

    The game itself has that fun factor I've always loved in the Saints Row franchise, but that's about all this game has going for it. The devs put minimal effort into this one and it clearly shows.

The new world actually enables even more craziness that what any fan of the series would be hoping for.

    The game itself is not a tough challenge for any experienced gamer, in fact some may deem that the missions are too short or too easy, however this game is designed to entertain not frustrate. This is non-clearer than the moment you find yourself swaying gently whilst you guide our hero to climb a rocket whilst Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing’ blares through your speakers.

    Let’s not forget the pink elephant in the room…. How does it compare to GTA 5? Well although the similarities are there, a comparison may not ever be needed. GTA offers reality whilst Saints is pure fantasy. So it’s time to let GTA go guys and let down your hair by blasting crazy aliens out of the sky!

    Visually Saints is what we have seen in the past, after 4 hours of gameplay I was unsure whether the designers had taken advantage of the next-gen to its full potential (PS4 version reviewed). All is forgiven as this little niggle is soon out-weighed by the fact that Saints is a pick up and go type of game with easy to use controls and opening missions which quickly allow players to practice their superhuman skills such as running along walls and lifting objects with the power of your mind… indeed!

    Because the game is so good about dishing out new weapons and abilities at a steady pace, you often feel like you have some fun new toy with which to torment your puny alien oppressors. However, because you have so many ways of so effectively overcoming them, combat eventually starts to feel rote and inconsequential, and you may often find yourself just freeze-blasting and shattering your enemies repeatedly to be done with a fight as quickly as possible. And it doesn’t help that even though many of your weapons have crazy visual effects or other gimmicks associated with them, they lack any sense of oomph.

    Although it’s easy to do so, try not to run straight through the story missions, as it is some of the side missions (each allowing you to gain XP, Cache or goodies) that bring some of the biggest laughs so taking the time to explore these is highly recommended. ‘How the Saints Saved Christmas’ is a little festive delight allowing you to shoot Santa Claws out of the sky whilst dressed in last year’s Christmas jumper!
    In all if you want a game that’s easy to play from the get go that gives you and your mates a true belly laugh pick up the latest installment and you will not regret it!

So, sorry if you were expecting a sequel. But it acts well as a sequel as well. It has the ability to be one, if it wasn't for the short story and the buggy Xbox 360 graphics running on a PS4.     It was good because it had saints row's good old humor and fun, characters and driving and...
    but it was bad cause the graphics didn't improve and we can even say that it was worse than st row 4
    hell's enviroment was good but not entertaining and it was less than what i expected over all.

    If player customization is one of the features that you liked about this series so far, you should avoid this game. There are only two fixed protagonists that the game allows you to play as, and you can't customize their outfits or anything else at all. Apart from that, this game mostly recycles content from the previous installment, even the graphics pretty much are the same.     Saints Row IV was already glorified DLC for SR3, and this is glorified DLC for Saints Row 3. The flying controls are actually pretty cool, but the superpowers are not meaningful or interesting for the most part. You can blaze through the main story in a couple hours. Not a huge fan of the side missions other than the flying.

    Amazing DLC, but worst port ever. Game freezes every 30 minutes, collectibles won't get picked up due to a random glitch, ... Little to no effort put into this port. Buy it for PC, not for any console.

I feel like an idiot, there's something about this game that make me want to buy the new one every 3 months (exaggerating but almost true). This is the same crap different colours. I miss Saints Row 1 & 2.

    I'll be honest, this isn't a terrible game, its just getting boring. I'll see you in line    It's now time for Deep Silver to go back the the drawing board and change some things up.     got this free with ps4 monthly free games, i realise why its free, cos its worthless, it looks and plays like an old game from two generations ago, sure its fun if u dont care about graphics, and mediocre gameplay, but the cutscenes are half cg and half drawn as if they couldnt be bothered to finish it, but im glad cos i know its supposed to be fun and silly but the story is something a 2got this free with ps4 monthly free games, i realise why its free, cos its worthless, it looks and plays like an old game from two generations ago, sure its fun if u dont care about graphics, and mediocre gameplay, but the cutscenes are half cg and half drawn as if they couldnt be bothered to finish it, but im glad cos i know its supposed to be fun and silly but the story is something a 2 year old could write, get GTA, any GTA you will have a far better time… Expand

I waited since 2008 to get my revenge on Dex, what did they give me? Dex randomly walking the street and the ability to murder him without a stand off between him and the boss

    Playing co-op with a mate I actually quite enjoyed Saints Row: The Third on the Xbox360 but, after the disappointing Saints Row IV, I lost interest in the series and as a result only bothered to pick this up when it appeared for free on PS+. Its not a total disaster (if you liked IV you'll probably find something to enjoy here) but the awkward controls and repetitive nature of many of thePlaying co-op with a mate I actually quite enjoyed Saints Row: The Third on the Xbox360 but, after the disappointing Saints Row IV, I lost interest in the series and as a result only bothered to pick this up when it appeared for free on PS+. Its not a total disaster (if you liked IV you'll probably find something to enjoy here) but the awkward controls and repetitive nature of many of the missions, that have plagued the series since it began, are becoming harder and harder to forgive and this series really needs to make big changes if I'm going to invest any more time to it.… Expand

    The flying mechanics are a great improvement over SR4 and I felt compelled to gather as many collectibles as possible just because the movement was so much fun. The story is a bit meh and the missions are mostly rehashes from SR4, so it all comes down to how much you like the new mechanics.

At aIt has the humor, craziness and style of the Saints Row franchise but is far more shallow. I read that it started as DLC and was made into an expansion. For clarification: It is not a bad game. It feels more like a reskin or limited version of Saints Row 4 with less story, creativity and impact (and I say this a someone who enjoyed the game). Story: The story starts promising crazy. At a birthday party for Kinzie Kensington the Saints tried out an Ouija board for fun. What they did not knew or discovered far too late it was an antique belonging to the famous occultist Aleiser Crowly. Because of this the leader of the Saints is dragged to hell by Satan himself. He wants him to marry his daughter Jezebel and as leader for his invasion of heaven. It is now the mission of Johnny Gat and Kenzie Kensington to get the boss out of hell. This is such a good set up and works well. Sadly the missions and story up to the final battle are weaker and lessen the immersion and enjoyment. Also it was quite short compared to the other games in the franchise (disappointingly so). However I like the multiple endings which were entertaining. I read later that 1 was the set up for Agents of Mayhem which is the not Saints Row Saints Row follow up I have yet to play. In general the story, set up and characters are a missed opportunity but still somehow entertaining. Gameplay: The gameplay is similar to Saints Row 4 if not even basically the same. You can overtake neighborhood by neighborhood by missions and activities. However it never was compelling or challenging as in the other games (There is an ability that makes even the harder challenges easy). As you level up you unlock new upgrades. To activate upgrades you have to pay for them with money. Differently from Saints Row 3 and 4 money is not a plentiful resource and I recommend choosing a favorite weapon or playstyle instead of trying to get all upgrades (I was not patient enough here as the game was not enjoyable enough for grinding). For your special skill there is a similar system like in Saints Row 4. The arcane powers can be upgraded with collectibles. Those are named Soul Clusters. If you did play Saints Row 4 you will feel familiar immediately. Again the powers are enjoyable and a lot of fun is delivered by toying with them. It is however not as refreshing as before. Characters: It is the first time that you play another character. You can chose between Gat and Kenzie. No complain here as I like both characters and their comments during the game. A wasted opportunity are that you do not encounter more familiar faces in hell from the previous games. The used characters are good but I wished they did more with them. Especially Jezebel became my favorite. Graphic / soundtrack: The game looked average back then. The style did not convince me but I admit that some ideas were good. Soundtrack was also decent. Overall it was a good but in the end also shallow experience. It got repetitive more fast than the prequels and feels more like an DLC. I recommend this only in a bundle or if you get it really cheap.… Expand

    Great for a stand-alone DLC letting you experience like it was the whole game. Yet, hindering the user to customize the character diminish the fun. Some Side quests were boring and repetitive though.

    Crazy & funny to play with one friend, but it only lasts a few hours.
    Sadly, it's graphically poor, full of bugs and there are plenty of framerate drops.

    This is more the same you got on Saints Row IV, with a few changes but still fun and funny. The story is pretty good in a Saints Row way, if you enjoyed the humor before you will again. If you are a fan i recommend picking it up.

    Saints Row GoH's chaotic and action-packed world does have its moments and can be entertaining in short doses, however the game has never been able to hold my attention for more than a few minutes at a time. This game has bad graphics, less than average gameplay and a story that is just not interesting or entertaining.

That's right I am B-rod, and I am reviewing the latest DLC for Saints Row IV. This review will more or less be a bit quicker than normal, but that is because I will only focus on the DLC and nothing more. Without further ado let us dive into Hell, and see what happens.

    The story is traditional to Saints Row style with your created character The Boss gets sucked into Hell that forces Johnny Gat, and Kinzie jump in to go save them. While the game is titled Gat Out of Hell you can play the entire DLC as Kinzie. She has nothing different about her except for the little bit of dialog that changes. The game lies with one aspect; that is the fact they say it is a musical but there is only one scene where they sing and that's it. Not that it ruins the experience I am just pointing out they put that on the box. Story wise there isn't much too this DLC. There are few story based missions, and most of the cutscenes are stills with a voice over narrating them. Which I think is a shame one of my favorite parts of Saints Row are the cutscenes where they have this dialog that is funny, and nonsensical. The game is surprising with how it ends where you can make a choice that will drastically change where the Saints Row universe goes depending on what you choose. (not that it matters right now anyways) The story is semi interesting but for $20 I am expecting at least a longer experience than a couple of hours.

    The games sound takes a dive in this DLC for one simple reason. NO RADIO. When you spend all your time flying and jumping around why would you get in a car? I do understand you aren't in the simulation, so why would the music play? They could've just said they had headphones or something or anything honestly. The game ends up being pretty quiet because of that. Graphically speaking it is better than Saints Row IV was on the PS3 but not by much. These games have that cartoony look, but they are showing the age of their engine as of right now. Also Hell looks like a slightly different Steel Port, and I'm getting a little tired of being there.

    The gameplay comes down to a few new enemies, a couple new weapons, and a two new powers. The new weapons are awesome they are all based on the seven deadly sins, and the powers include flying and summoning. My biggest problem with this DLC is the fact that 90% of the missions you do are just events. There are no crazy hell missions or stupid funny things like chainsawing luchadores or killing furries. It literally is the events from Saints Row IV with some Hell mixed into them. The game is roughly four hours short and that is if you are taking your time. Honestly you can breeze through this thing pretty quick. Quick tip with this game; get the armchair weapon it is so useful it turns Satan and his armies into little duckies on a shooting carnival game.

    In the end this DLC is only worth it if you get the double pack that has Saints Row IV otherwise it seems like a waste of money to me. Believe me that is hard for me to say I am a rabid Saints Row fan, but this just wasn't what I was hoping for. I give this DLC a 2.5/5 it had a lot of disappointments. I leave with a question. I started this game just as an intermission before starting a big game and instead of having just mindless fun I was thrown to a boring, tortuous and repetitive fest of broken gameplay and sterile story.

    The thing is really over the top and it has like 2 or 3 funny lines but that's it, in order to advance the "story" you need to fill a meter which can be filled with some random missions or challenges (minigames), the problem is that there are like 5 different minigames and you have to repeat them over and over to fill that meter, or you can just mess around which also fills the meter but slower.

    Nearly at the end of this torturous game, I was really thinking about quitting it but I played all the way through so you don't have to. It took for me to finish this thing like 5 hours that seemed more like 20, I don't know how people are saying in other reviews that you can play this thing more than that, but hey, is OK to have bad taste. In the middle of the storyline, there's a musical number which is kind of fun until it overstays it's welcome but that's why this review is 1 instead of 0.    … Expand

    I love Saints Row but this has to be the worst game with the name slapped onto it. Challenging gameplay (at times), good humor and ton of grinding but, that all this has going for it really.

    Saints Row: Fat Out of Hell is, without a doubt, fun. It's aesthetic is great too. But there's nothing much more than that.

    Its fun to play finally Gat in the series of saint row too bad this game comparison with the others title is very shortly but has amazing and cool gameplay with cool gun and executions animation.
    Good game but...I think its the worst on comparison with the others game of this saga
    P.S (I Play the version on PS3 and PS4 with the PSPlus)

    If you don't care about playing last-gen material on new-gen platforms, give this a miss, do yourself a favour and pickup a copy of the original Saints Row IV for under a tenner.

    Gat out of Hell is not bad, but it's not great either. To put it simply, it's more Saints Row IV. If you go into it thinking its going to have all new gameplay with an all new story, you are going to be disappointed. It's fun but the overwhelming feel of deja vu may sour you a bit on it.
