It takes you back straight up to the survival horror roots of the Resident Evil series, but with a more modern focus in terms of gameplay and without taking most or none of the elements that make an OG style Resident Evil game an actual OG Resident Evil game.

    The only part or section of the game that i didn't like too much, was the one on the boat, but because it was so short, i don't think it takes away anything out of the experiencie

    You pick up the saw and the beautiful game slips from your hands, replaced by sheer disappointment. A very good first half continues with a sad second half. You can stop the game halfway and try to imagine the last scene...

The game nails atmosphere and dread as the player slowly advances through the sprawling Baker mansion. I was surprised at how creepy and unsettling multiple sections throughout the game had me feeling. I was surprised at how creepy and unsettling multiple sections throughout the game had me feeling. I was constantly checking corners and looking behind to make sure I was alone and safe. The game is full of interesting puzzles and worthwhile exploration. I enjoyed nabbing new guns and discovering hidden secrets. Later sections in the game do slow down the pacing, but I did appreciate the variety in setting. The game's story is interesting and worth experiencing. The Baker family’s descent into madness is well explained and the antagonists are all compelling and interesting. Staples of Resident Evil games such as crafting and limited resources make a return here. Both do an excellent job of allowing the player freedom in ammo choice and amplifying the need for resource conservation and exploration. The worst aspect of RE7 has to be the actual gunplay. Aiming feels unresponsive and clunky. This can largely be explained by the fact that RE7 was made for VR. The VR aiming and shooting is actually extremely precise. The boss battles are hit or miss with some being extremely fun and cinematic and others being cinematic but not very engaging. My most memorable moment has to be using a car to run down a boss in a climactic battle. Overall, RE7 succeeds in everything important and left me excited for the future of the franchise.… Expand

    Excellent level design and atmosphere. Great combat. Enemy design is noticeably lacking and the story has noticeable flaws. The game however is just so good regardless of these flaws.

    It starts out absolutely amazing, so scary and the atmosphere is fantastic, gameplay is fun, puzzles are fun. Then about 3 quarters into the game the game decides to be super mid. If you’ve played the game you know what I’m talking about. 10/10 first 3 quarters and 3/10 last quarter. Capcom had some serious potential here but they just messed up the last part of the game.

    As a horror, the game is very good. The story though has its bumps (I hate the cliché creepy kid characters). Not quite the Resident Evil experience I was expecting (there weren't some locations specific to the game series). But as a standalone horror game, it's one of the best.

    Por fin se regresa a las raíces y el terror veo que /uchos dicen que no es un RE pero merece llevar el título, recuerda mucho al primer RE por los espacios cerrados y la mansión, además en la primera mitad del juego se sigue manteniendo las mecánicas de la falta de recursos, que de eso hablaré después, el terror se siente ahí y la primera persona permite combinar en los combate una esenciaPor fin se regresa a las raíces y el terror veo que /uchos dicen que no es un RE pero merece llevar el título, recuerda mucho al primer RE por los espacios cerrados y la mansión, además en la primera mitad del juego se sigue manteniendo las mecánicas de la falta de recursos, que de eso hablaré después, el terror se siente ahí y la primera persona permite combinar en los combate una esencia de acción con un muy buen terror de no saber que hay en la próxima esquina como en la entrega de psx, las Animaciones faciales son un poco toscas pero no es muy importante en realidad, las únicas cosas en las que creo que falla son en los enemigos que la primera vez que los vez son increíbles pero después aburren al ser el mismo con algunas variaciones como tener un brazo especial, ser gordo o ir a cuatro patas, y la segunda son los puzzles, realmente no sentí que fueran lo más destacable y que eso un se quedó incluso en el re4 pero salvo eso me encantó todo lo demás, lo último es su ritmo, las escenas scriptadas son buenas el primer walktroug pero después solo aburren y estorba pues no se pueden saltar… Expand

    1. Оружие. Существуют буквально бесполезные виды оружия, по типу огнемета и гранатомета, которые кроме определенных мест не выгодны в использовании.
    2. Хоррор. Эта игра НЕ хоррор, и именно поэтому я ставлю не 9, а 8 баллов. Игра окончательно ушла в экшн, хотя позиционирует себя как ужасы, но с этим не справляется.

    Вердикт - игра обязательна к покупке, но если вы олдфаг серии или хотите хоррора - вам не сюда.    … Expand

    I was scared for 3 weeks after that :) In the end the too much weapon made me calm and i wasnt scared that much. With a fewer enemy and weapon this game could be the best horror game.

    The game is good. The first sections are really scary and atmospheric and did not play it on release because of it lol. I love it until the last sections of the game its like 2/3 of the game is really good and the 1/3 is like meh.. but overall its a great experience and I still remember every detail of it. Really good follow up after the disaster called re6 ;)

    Survival seems to be much more of the focus this time (as opposed to action or horror), and that's fine with me. Gunplay is solid, exploration is interesting, and the story is alright.

    Unfortunately, this game is not scary and the environments were mostly dull. The only two that interested me were the ship and the birthday shed. And yeah I’m getting this out of the way I actually screamed during my play through but I enjoyed every last second of it. I have minor nitpicks like Ethan is so dumb and his actor does not sell he isResident Evil 7 Biohazard: For the first Resi game I have played what a game to start out with. And yeah I’m getting this out of the way I actually screamed during my play through but I enjoyed every last second of it. I have minor nitpicks like Ethan is so dumb and his actor does not sell he is horrified about seeing a cop get his head cut in half with a shovel or having his hand being cut off. Don’t worry I’m only mentioning stuff in the beginning hour of the game. But just like every other Resident Evil game item management is key during a boss if you run out of bullets your really screwed specially when the fight is against the mother. There is little ammo and health to go by so you have to make them it it’s a refreshing difference because I just got done playing Uncharted 4 where you can punch and run and gun but with this you have only 10 shots in your pistol waste it and you have to use a pocket knife which is not useful. The puzzles are not hard but not too easy one in particular is very unique if you didn’t watch a play through before like I did you would be confused but I loved it. The bosses are nothing to ride home about either there all easy even the final boss because by then you have a gun with a lot of ammo. But that doesn’t matter when this is the best FPS Horror game I have ever played. It’s available now on all modern platforms for about 20 bucks it’s short but fun.… Expand

    This is probably the scariest game of all time if you play it in VR. The opening hours of the game are horrifying, the whole atmosphere is fantastic. The reduction of a point is due to the fact that some of the monsters are a bit generic later on. But other than that this is my favourite Resident Evil game.

    WHAT have they done with the Resident Evil franchise? This is so tragic that I can't believe it. I finished the game 100%, went platinum and soon (hopefully) will finish these poor DLCs. The fact that I play it does not change anything. This is not Resident Evil! It hurts!

The pace of the game is also excellent, driving the player forward in meaningful ways that continue the story as well as provide new environments to get lost in.

    As with previous entries, inventory management remains a key element; however, crafting leaves a lot to be desired. Small inventory creates frustrating challenges especially because scavenging is so important. Limited resources also lead to some difficult decisions in crafting, ultimately stifling creativity in approach to gameplay.

    Overall, the game shines but does read a bit like a play test with each chapter delving into a specific type of horror content ensuring no matter the audience a scare exists. While respectable and effective in all its efforts I did miss familiar creatures like the lickers and a tighter narrative that was not trying to be all things may have elevated this game to true top tier horror. If you are a Resident Evil virgin this entry would be a wonderful place to start however veterans to the series might miss some staple elements of the franchise.    … Expand

    One of the best games in the franchise. The developers clearly watched Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre before they started work on it. The story-based DLCs help add to the story but there are still so many questions, just like when you watch the 2 movies mentioned above. Even 4 years after the game's release along with its story-based DLCs, a certain type of mystery and charmOne of the best games in the franchise. The developers clearly watched Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre before they started work on it. The story-based DLCs help add to the story but there are still so many questions, just like when you watch the 2 movies mentioned above.     4편이후로 계속 나락이던 바이오하자드 시리즈의 완벽한 귀환, 혹은 변화? RE엔진의 훌륭한 모습도 인상적이고 FPS호러 시리즈라는 모습으로의 변화도 새롭다. 기존 시리즈 스토리의 변화를 모색하는것도 인상적.

    I have never been a big fan of horror movies. Actually, I have never seen a good horror movie. Horror movies to me are not scary, they always has a **** story and you never like the main character. This game however, blew me away. I did not expect to like a game as much as i liked this.     Dieses Spiel bringt den Survival-Horror zurück in das RE Universum. Das Gameplay und die Story des Spiels sind erschreckend gut und schockierend zugleich. Leider bleiben alle Figuren relativ oberflächlich (8/10).

    Quit after attempting first boss. While playing first person is great for the horror ambiance, escaping damage feels like a crapshoot. Not gonna waste my time with this game when I have to manage my inventory in the middle of a boss fight so I can actually beat it. Why would they make you clear inventory for the chainsaw??     Это первая игра за 15 лет, которая смогла меня напугать! Даже вышедшая раньше игры демо, по началу, кажется пустой и безгеймплейной, что ли, составлена очень правильно, не из геймплея, а из ощущений.
    Игра хороша почти во всём. Визуально очень впечатляет на PS4. Мир проработан очень здорово, как улица, так и внутренние помещения. На мой взгляд как первые так и вторые в игре это замкнутые пространства, но вероятно это особенность данного движка.
    Шутерная механика тоже не плохая. Стрелять удобно и интересно, ну для серии Resident Evil конечно, тем более от первого лица.
    Атмосфера просто какая то запредельная. Я всегда утверждал, что более глубокой атмосферы, можно добиться только с видом от первого лица. Поэтому, она лучше, чем во всех играх серии, которые выходили с перспективой от третьего лица! Но в этом, как мне кажется и некий недостаток. Всегда кажется, что в любой момент тебя кто нибудь схватит сзади и сожрёт. Это очень похоже на ощущения в Alien: Isolation, мне не очень нравится.
    Антогонисты серии тоже хороши, как на подбор. Но к сожалению они какие то, не знаю как правильно сказать, не Resident Evilловские. По сути это просто люди со сверх способностями, ну кроме Джека и Эвелины в финале.
    Как понятно из вышесказанного, я не пробовал игру до релиза. Так, что все ощущения были естественными!
    Меня реально напугал Джек Бейкер проломивший стену прямо перед моим носом. А озверевшая Мия, страшна! Просто передёрнуло, когда она отпилила руку нашему протагонисту! И это я играл не в VR.
    Геймплей тоже на месте не стоит, здесь надо и прятаться, и отстреливаться, и разгадывать несложные головоломки. А когда надоедает этот прОклятый дом, нас переносят в прошлое, на какой то корабль и дают поиграть за Мию.
    Почему же тогда я написал - "Почти во всём"? А по тому, что все рядовые противники, ужасно унылые и однообразные плесневики! При этом их всего три разновидности и выглядят они все как то одинаково. И меня ну просто достал инвентарь Итана, каждый раз надо бежать к сундуку, что бы взять что-то или положить. Я понимаю это была необходимость на первой соньке, но сейчас 21 век.
    Ещё в игре очень не хватает русской озвучки, а шрифт субтитров слишком мелковат для консольного экрана и это нельзя изменить.
    Так же Крис Редфилд сам на себя не похож.
    Если последние строки не критичны, то игра очень хорошая, особенно если сравнивать с Resident Evil 6, в которой дух и атмосфера серии была заменена на бесшабашный шутан. Недостатки есть, но они какие то детские, очень надеюсь, что всё поправят в сиквеле.    … Expand

    - the plot is not very consistent, with some details not matching, which is clear to anyone paying attention to it. The game also directly spoils its key plot twist    RE7 is a great horror game, an enjoyable one for sure. The devs dared to move forward and try something new after RE6, which was pretty bad to my taste, and that is remarkable. Sure, this RE has some flaws, big ones, actually:
    - the plot is not very consistent, with some details not matching, which is clear to anyone paying attention to it. The game also directly spoils its key plot twist in like 5 minutes before it happens, wtf;
    - RE also loves throwing cheap jump scares at you pretty often;
    - some may not like this new texas chainsaw massacre style (myself included);
    - the second part of the game feels like it was made in a rush before hitting a release deadline, with fewer things happening, no new challenges, fights, or puzzles.
    - the whole "big choice" thing is disappointing. You'd expect much more impact on the ending than it actually has;
    Still, the atmosphere holds it up, and the gameplay itself is great (with no piano puzzles - thank you, devs), and the moment with Lucas (inspired by the Saw movies) was fun.    … Expand

    Playing this in VR is without a doubt the scariest experience I've ever had in gaming or movies. Absolute game changer. Some of the horror scenes are impeccable, & almost trick your brain into thinking it's real. & then other times there's just a general smell of fear in the air.
    Justifies the VR purchase with this game alone.

    Was expecting to hate this as someone who grew up playing the originals but wow I was wrong. What an amazing game and by far the scariest game I've ever played. Really hope they make a throwback in this way first person but back in Raccoon city with zombies etc. If you love the old Res evils or survival horror this is a must

RE7 accomplishes that and more in creating a beautiful yet horrific setting and building psychological pressure around the player as they progress through the game.     This game is the comeback of the RE franchise except, it's first person and there's no tank controls. Beautiful game with the interesting Big mansion and the people who own it (baker family). There's something wrong with the graphics tho, but still this game is one of the best and it's a must have if you liked the old RE games

    Resident Evil 7 is the 800th entry in the long running Resident Evil franchise, and it's the first mainline game since the PlayStation 1 to focus solely on the horror, ever since Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube and PS2, the series has been going further and further into action, culminating in a visually loud yet shallow Resident Evil 6 back in 2012. The poor reception to which, made Capcom took a break from the series for 5 years getting their collective sh*t together for the next mainline entry, and they succeeded in bringing the series back to what made it standout in the first place.

    RE7 follow all around good guy, Ethan Winters, in a Blair Witch inspired first person Louisiana house looking for his wife Mia, in his search he meets such friendly faces as Jack Baker, the crazed, seemingly unkillable patriarch of the family, who is as funny in his dialogue as he is absolutely terrifying in gameplay. Marguerite Baker, the weird bug lady person who's dedicated section had my skin crawling with all the creepy buzzing sounds and bugs, Lucas Baker, who's just kind of insane, Grandma, who is Grandma, and Zoe Baker, your only friend and kind of hot partner in the Baker house... Look I'm not saying Ethan should've saved her over Mia I'm just saying I'd have liked to without getting the bad ending. This lovely Texas Chainsaw Massacre inspired family will be your main adversaries in the game and the only ones worth mentioning because the Molded honestly kinda suck.

    While I love the game, I can't help but think I'd have liked it more if it wasn't in first person, it's not terrible but considering the REmakes we got around the same time with RE2 and RE3 which were third person, I can't help but want that for these games too. Capcom not helping matters with their weird adamant refusal to show Ethan's face so we can "project ourselves onto him" well he has a wife so already I can't do that, and besides, I don't want to project myself onto Ethan I want Ethan to be his own character, the reason Chris, Leon, Jill and Claire are so beloved is because they're all their own larger than life characters, screw Ethan's relatability, Chris is a special forces officer, turned anti Bio Organic Weapon soldier WHO PUNCHES BOULDERS AND HAS A HOT SISTER, that's what I want in my main character, not to feel like ME, I don't like ME, I like CHRIS REDFIELD.

    All that being said, Resident Evil 7 is a great game and though Capcom fell short of following it up in the recent Resident Evil 8, I hope RE9 goes back to a primarily horror focus and we can all bond over our mutual love of pissing ourselves terrified.    … Expand

    So I found myself giving RE7 another go, and although it's a scary game, it never felt like there were cheap scares for the sake of cheap scares. The gameplay works really well in first person. The level design is tight, with most rooms having so much personality. The shooting is good, although you feel more underpowered than RE2. The story shines through here, with so many elements coming together in the end in a very satisfying way. Graphics, just wow, best lighting I've ever seen. Sound design is on another level. Each boss has such amazing thematic atmosphere built around it.

    Negatives: I prefer a shorter and tighter experience, and the final area felt a bit unncessary. The moulded generally have a lot less personality than than zombies, but the boss fights in RE7 are an absolute highlight so it makes up for it. Felt a lot scarier in the beginning so will put off people who don't persevere. I hate the 'boss who roams' around mechanic, it adds atmosphere but from a gameplay perspective is a pain.

    If this is your first RE7, I'd recommend playing the RE2 remake as it'll help a lot of the concepts make sense if you're new to the survival horror genre, while being less intimidating.    … Expand

    Solid 8 , the loot and items system still looks perfect on this fps, the puzzles are fun to do, maybe not difficult enough for some people but i enjoy it a lot. The plot is good and has enough lenght for all tastes.     The truth is that at the beginning I was reluctant to try this title, but when I finally did, I didn't regret it. I don't think it's the best release of the saga but it certainly fulfills very well what is necessary to be a good videogame and a good Resident Evil.

    It has good puzzles, the horror and atmosphere is really scary and it has BOWs as it should be (not those shooting enemies since RE4 ).

    However, the enemies vary little and are boring, the first person perspective is not to my total liking (yes, there have been RE like that before, but spin-offs), I don't think you ever felt that vulnerability of a classic RE (pre-RE4) and in the end you feel like you're playing a Call of Duty. The "tone" of the horror is very "basic American horror movie" and that, even if it works, makes it stray quite far from the original tone and I feel it was too cliché.

    If this game had been in classic perspective like RE remake, it would have been much better, but I think even in first person it works.

    The plot is not bad, it just wants to be pretentious to the end to be pretty meh, the whole campaign seems something ghostly or paranormal, it feels like the biological side was only added at the end to fulfill that it's a Resident Evil and the "DLCs" of Chris and Zoe honestly are better and should have been in the normal campaign, not extras (even if one of them is free).    … Expand

Always been a massive fan of Resident Evil games and for some reason looked at this as a departure. So happy and nostalgic once the inventory management and puzzles kicked in. I played the game in all difficulties and it was really good, however the madhouse was more hard at start consider it take 20 headshots to take down Mia and you only get 27 ammo in total, the ending is kinda weak consider all you do is shooting and you barelly even use left stick.

The intro is awesome up until the dinner table scene, but after that, it's ONE GIANT FETCH quest... You need 3 pieces of a key to open the front door, which are hidden in areas behind doors that require OTHER animal keys, which are in doors locked with other NORMAL keys! Like holy crap this family can't cook a human meal, but they can design an elaborate key storage system??? Gtfo of here and I didn't even mention the seemingly endless numbers of black goo monsters that you have to fight when your character aims like he's never even seen a gun in his life... Worst horror game ever and couldn't even get scared because I was so annoyed with how rediculous the dumb fetch quest was... I'm giving it a 2 for the unforgettable intro and decent visuals but I'm uninstalling this game now.… Expand

    Even though the story is dumb, the protagonist is the worst in Resident Evil history, the enemies are lackluster and some of the dialogues are horrible i still can somewhat enjoy this game because of the sound design, mystery and exploration values. The DLCs are much better than the game itself though.

Once you get a gun you feel a lot safer.     I played this with one of my best friends, and I took it surprisingly well considering it was my first horror game I ever played (aside from the Old House cause I hate bugs in movies and video games). This was an amazing game and I'd highly recommend it.

    This game is great! Capom did an amazing job at reinventing the RE franchise after the complete mess they did with RE5 & RE6.
    This is survival horror at it's finest. Graphics are really good, the story hooks you from the beginning and the game is scary as ****
    The only bad thing is the short number of enemy types. Definetly a must play if you like horror games / movies.

    It is a good game but it has a low replayability, once you pass it you already know all the tricks for the following games. It is of very short duration, I liked that it is in the first person although there are many people who criticize it and a very good soundtrack and immersion in the story. I give it a 6 since I had very high expectations that have not been fully met

    This is the first game in the series that I played. Cinematic is good. I think, characters well constructed. Most of people don't play this game for its story but I loved story (İndeed for Mia heh-heh). The gameplay part didn't bother me either.

    With its dark mysterious atmosphere, life-threatening enemies, and well-leveled design, Resident Evil 7 does surprisingly well as an FPS horror game along with beautiful graphics to better capture the horror of what lies in the area to explore. The gameplay is great, it knows when you need it and when you use it, that is until you get to the boss fights though. The earlier chunk of it is good but as it goes on, you soon realize how easy and lifeless the bosses are in their final stages, they don't feel like a final challenge but rather a cutscene only for us to click and press just simple buttons. The reason for it is because of its story that contradicts in certain places that makes the game starting to fall apart, thus leading to a lackluster end. Despite its short length and contradictory pieces in its game, you still have a very thrilling game to experience firsthand. If it was longer and had more details, I would've given this a positive point.… Expand

    Gran videojuego que sabe mantenerte en tensión hasta el final. La franquicia ha sabido renovarse y ojalá siga esta línea, ya que en primera persona se vive más intenso todo. Como pero…. habría estado bien más variedad de enemigos. Muy recomendable.

    Honestly, I don’t know if the world is ready for a game like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in VR and that’s exactly what makes it so exhilarating.

    Whether played in VR or not, Resident Evil 7: biohazard is a thrilling game and it shouldn’t be missed. If you have the option to play the game with a PSVR, you should by all means do so. Regardless of how you play Resident Evil 7: biohazard, just be sure that you do because it is one of 2017’s finest releases and the constant stream of DLC keeps the nightmare alive.
