This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As someone who played the original this new version is a step down on so many levels, the game is a very good game but takes away almost everything that made Resident Evil 3 what it was. Raccoon City is almost non existent in this version of RE3, Nemesis is also almost non existent and is only really used for scripted chase scenes, so many locations and puzzles from the original game are removed which take away from the exploration and leave you feeling underwhelmed. This game is also really short which could be due to them cutting so much content from the original which really makes me wonder why that was done in the first place. Unfortunately this is just another case of Capcom giving us what we didn’t ask for, we asked for a remake just like how the 2002 remake of Resident Evil 1 was and instead they gave us “reimaginings” that have less than the originals. This makes me nervous for any future “remakes” that we may get. If you have never played the original games then you may like this game a lot, but if you are going into this as someone who played the original you may come away disappointed. Expand

The original RE3 has been one of my all time favorite games, I loved the game and was looking forward to the Remake. Reading the reviews, I was worried maybe I should wait for the bargains and cancel my preorder. So happy I didn't!

Some parts are cut but in a sense, they wanted the story to make more sense and it does.

Amazing content and gameplay. Absolutely terribly priced. Should’ve been 30$, at most. 5 hours should not merit to a 60$ price. Glad I got my money back but I will buy it again once it’s price drops significantly. Should’ve just been a dlc for 2.

Game length is a little bit short but action is well designed. I didn't play the original game but remake is fine by me. Edit: My point is 9/10 after my 3rd finish

Ok so I just finished RE3 Remake and if I have to sum it in one word it would be: disappointing.

I am an original RE fan from the very beginning and I had to beg my mother to let me rent RE 1 (when blockbuster was around for you young kids) on the PS. From there it led to a love of the series! When Capcom released RE 3 it was by far my favorite! It was a combination of playing Jill

I am an original RE fan from the very beginning and I had to beg my mother to let me rent RE 1 (when blockbuster was around for you young kids) on the PS. From there it led to a love of the series! When Capcom released RE 3 it was by far my favorite!

It was a combination of playing Jill who is my favourite character from the series, playing in the city which was sprawling (and you could revisit areas - more on this later), the hair raising moments you had to make decisions that affected the story and of course Nemesis!

Based on the RE 2 remake - which was excellent, I had high hopes that I could relive my experience as a young kid with RE3 remake. Sadly, it didn't come close.

From the very beginning it was too action based - I mean you nonchalantly are introduced to Nemesis 5 minutes in!? Unlike the epic intro in the original game.

They eluded to Brad having a bigger role to play in this version - he did not - it was much less.

Don't get me wrong it was fun in the moment, you barely had time to catch your breath but it just wasn't a resident evil game. Not survival horror, but action based.

I agree with a lot of the reviews that say this feels like a rushed, add-on campaign - not a stand alone game.

It's very linear (story wise and map wise), you move from one area to another, with no option to return unlike the original - if you forgot something in another area you had to retrace your steps through the city to obtain what you needed to move forward.

I hate how Capcom eliminated the option to choose where the story went unlike the original.

Now Nemesis... how disappointing and represents nothing like the original! He only shows up for a cut scene or boss fight. The original had him chasing you from area to area. He made RE 3 original and he was so absent from this version. Again feeling forced for story purposes.

Many areas were missing from the original as well. Mainly the clock tower, cemetery / park.

I am not looking for an exact replica of the original but this had nothing to pay homage to the original.

RE 2 Remake nailed it. RE 3 is an unfortunate epic fail and I just feel Capcom rushed this to captivate off its profits from RE 2 Remake without paying attention to details. I will not replay this game.

Very disappointing. Everything they did it in the game was good, but the problem is that they did almost nothing. They cut most of the original game with iconic scenes and they screw up with Nemesis. Don't pay a full price for this game.

The good stuff: Graphics and Carlos. And that's about it.
    The bad stuff: everything else.
I can't believe Capcom managed the screw up this Remake. All they had to do was doing the same thing the original does, but with modern graphics and gameplay. Yet, there's a ton of missing content (areas, dialogue), even a child can solve its puzzles, Nemesis managed to be less frightening than Mr.

Yet, there's a ton of missing content (areas, dialogue), even a child can solve its puzzles, Nemesis managed to be less frightening than Mr. X and Willian Birkin from RE2 Remake, Jill is masculinized compared to the original, and even if you play with the classic outfit, it is censored. And it's not just her appearance, her behavior is also gross. They turned her into some dirty mouthed feminist. They also toned down the gore compared to RE2 for some reason that is beyond me.
Not to mention the game is absurdly short, and there's little to no incentive to play it again.
One could argue that the original RE3 was also short, but so was the original RE2 too. But Capcom expanded the RE2 Remake and made it into a 15 to 20 hour game, which was a really great decision, while they didn't do the same with RE3, a game that you can beat in 5 hours in your playthgrough. It's simply absurd.

Anyone endorsing this game has mediocre standards, to say the least.

in the span of 15 hours i beat the game about 5 times already, coincidentally it's the same amount that average Jill fan beat his meat to semi-erotic fan arts on re3 community page. Seriously, The time it took to publish realistic looking nude mode can only be rivaled by the re3's campaign length. In any case, my only two complains are: 1 - Nemesis changes into dog like creature on 1/3 of the playthrough and i think it's kinda lame, cause it doesn't really impose the same threat in the new form. 2 - infinite rocket launcher is too easy to obtain which nullifies the difficulty on any level.
    Cool game 9/10

-too much cut content, no clock tower, park, worm boss fight, really capcom?!
-gore scaled down from RE2 remake
-crappy background graphics in some areas
-corny live-action intro (wasn’t sure if this was a corny homage to original 1996 RE intro?)
-dont give a crap about the multiplayer game, so hard to justify $60 game besides RE being my second favorite video game franchise to Zelda.

Overall fun to play, but Capcom should have not rushed this and spent more time to include those cut areas from the original, and to fine-tune it more. A must have for any die-hard RE fan like myself, but wait until game is $30 or less to buy, especially if you don’t care about the multiplayer add-on.

I will start by saying I went into this with low expectations after seeing they literally copy and pasted zombies from RE2 remake. I would give this game a 5 and here's why.

Resident Evil 3 2020 is not a bad game- or even a bad Resident Evil game. This game is way better than Resident Evil 4-5-or 6 at least in terms of staying away from pure action ( which this franchise needs to do). I

With that said. Re3 is not a remake- it's a re imagining of resident evil 3: nemesis 1999- and a poor one at that. They have cut out so much content- so many iconic areas- so many NEMESIS ENCOUNTERS- that it's not even funny. They cut the grave digger boss- little worm enemies- spiders- crows- about 90% of the nemesis encounters. You see the nemesis out in the world ( when you actually have the ability to explore and not just run away) a total of two times. The nemesis does drop items like in the original- but since you can only fight him 2 times in the world- and once when you're leading him away from the shelter ( a running segment) it literally amounts to a maximum of 3 drops. The final drop being shotgun shells. Pathetic. The areas that were cut: Restaurant- Press office- 90% of the alley ways and buildings in the original- Clock Tower- City Park- Graveyard- Dead Factory- and I'm sure there are others. The story deviates significantly from the original- Resident Evil 2 remake was great in part because it stuck to a horror theme while also loyally sticking to the source material. The story is essentially identical to Resident Evil 2 1998 with a few things added or removed.
I honestly get sick and tired of people saying well Resident Evil 3: Nemesis 1999 was more action oriented than resident evil 2- because it wasn't- not really. It had more action in the sense of fighting or fleeing nemesis - but played really like any resident evil game before it. I doubt the people who make this claim have ever really played the original games. The amount of action in this new Resident Evil 3 game compared to resident Evil 2 remake feels more like the difference between Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 (night and day- with the latter being more like an arcade game) than the difference between Resident evil 2 1998 and Resident evil 3 1999.

Before the game came out Capcom bragged about improving Mr.X AI- that you'd be free to explore the city and that he'd pop out randomly ( like xenomorph from Alien Isolation) - as well as expanding on certain character stories and roles. None of this happened.

While I don't believe this game is absolute **** ( deserving a 3 or below) it is a ****ty Resident Evil 3 remake- not to mention it was lazily done and rushed ( all zombies were literally copy and pasted from RE2 remake). I doubt anyone will even read this submission but those are my thoughts.

I have been a fan of the Resident Evil series of games for 9 years. Passed a sufficient number of games in the series on different generations of the PlayStation console.

Last year, an amazing remake of the second part of Resident Evil was released. The game looked not just like a "remake", but as a full-fledged new part of the series. I was shocked by it, the game was a great pleasure. My subjective rating is 9/10. -1 point for the fact that in places it was rather dreary and boring, I had to take breaks in the passage, up to a week.

So, on April 3, a new remake was released, this time 3 parts of the game. I was able to buy it only on April 9th and it immediately excited me with its beginning in comparison with the remake of Resident Evil 2. The beginning was very active, someone did not like it, but I really did. The whole gameplay was very active. Explosions! Bullets! Zombie! Nemesis!

Separately, I would like to highlight the Nemesis. Huge, merciless, and generally when he was running his ass was shrinking and it was very uncomfortable, but psychologically Tyran was more stressful all the same. Nemesis is also rather stupid in game reality, it was easy to escape from it, if you get used to it. Well, actually Nemesis I liked more than not. My rating for him is 8/10

The overall gameplay was wonderful, new locations, and so on. The game would be 10/10 if it would take two times longer than at the moment. I had to go through 2 chapters, the remaining 6 I went for 4:15:00, despite the fact that in some moments I was dumb. This is probably the main minus of the game.

In conclusion, I would like to say. The game turned out to be quite controversial for the public, but for me personally it is a good remake of Resident Evil 3. The main disadvantages include the fast passage of the storyline campaign and the slight dullness of the main villain. Pros: dynamic gameplay, interesting plot. I put this game 7/10 points. With you was me - Mahorka. Play good games!

A disappointment in every way after the experience offered by RE2. The inferiority is evident almost immediately and the game never is as fun or interesting as RE2. Many people rate this game short. I kind of agree, but its not that short! If you play it with pace, it will take you a while to finish it (I finished it in 9h50m). Its a good game, with great graphics. Nemesis isnt as scary as Mr. X, and if we compare this game to RE2R, there is a lack of puzzles here. ThIs game is an action oriented game. After a stellar remake of an arguably the best Resident Evil game ever made, Capcom has let down our expectations by giving us a more scripted, more linear survival horror action game that will probably be forgotten like so many sequels that have gone the path of less resistance when it comes to game design. RE3 make feels more like a DLC than a full-blown game.
