A ton of fun, builds on what 2 did but this is way more intense. A lot of replay value and resident evil resistance is just a bonus to mess around with if you get bored. Overall a great game with good pacing and fun scares!

This was tough to judge, but ultimately I feel that Resident Evil 3 is simply the sum of its parts and that some of those parts fall short as it is. This is a great game to buy on sale and play over a weekend (or possibly one day) and probably never feel the urge to return to it.

I don't usually like to bring up pricepoints in reviews, but for some reason it's unavoidable in this game.

I don't usually like to bring up pricepoints in reviews, but for some reason it's unavoidable in this game. Maybe it's the stunning visuals, sometimes marred by obvious and awful flaws. Maybe it's the fantastic area designs which impress at first but are systematically abandoned by the game before they can truly charm. Or maybe it's the misuse of Nemesis, who from the beginning is so nerfed that I literally never once worried about him.

This could have been something special, if not on par with last year's phenomenal Resident Evil 2. Even as a brief, spin-off adventure, it could have succeeded if it committed more to its ideas. But as it is it seems they may have decided to play it safe at the last minute. The game decidedly feels not just the usual "unfinished" or "unpolished" but downright amateurish and unprofessional. It would not surprise me to learn that this game was made by a junior team. I don't hate it, but I'm never ordering this dish again.

Intro: Resident Evil 3 (Remake) is for some fans was a very underwhelming experience. There are instances of cut content and the gameplay being only around 6 to 7 hours and scenes from the original being cutaway that was in the original. However, I do not think this game is even as close to bad game or zero out of 10 like some people are making this game look to be. While this game is not as amazing as RE2 remake, this game is one of my personal favorite RE titles along with RE 1 Remastered and RE2 remake because it's a very fun experience, especially for new players.

The Good: Despite what some fans will say, this game is very fun. The combat in this game is very solid and does utilize the dodge mechanic fairly well. At first, it's a bit difficult, but once you start getting further into the game, it becomes a lot easier to use later on when dealing with enemies. Weapons and their usage are fairly similar to the RE2 remake, but items like knives are not breakable and grenades and flashbangs can not be used to get out of a zombie's grasp, making it more essential to try and not get grabbed and lose health. This game is also a lot more action-based then RE2 remake. With this game having more ammo and healing items to help aid you in highly dangerous areas in the game. Speaking of which, the areas in this game a beautiful. Using the RE Engine, this game looks incredible and made me excited to play through. Also, the monsters in this game are annoying to deal with, but in a good way. I felt very threatened while playing certain areas of the game such as the lab and hospital when fighting enemies such as the hunter betas and pale heads and they made me think twice before going out and exploring the game.

The Meh: So in this game, one of the main enemies you will encounter is Nemesis, a high intelligent tyrant that can use weapons and even transformed during the story. He is also able to do some very powerful and unique moves to try and keep the player on their guard like in an actual fight. Now while I still think he is cool in the game, he also has a very weird and unneeded weakness in his design. If you have a hand grenade on you, you can easily take him down and be able to escape to a safe area. This is not exactly great mainly because compared to RE2's Mr.X, Nemisis falls way too quickly. Also, some areas in the game where batteries and explosive drums are around can keep Nemesis off your tail which can be a bit of a bummer sometimes. However, if the player doesn't have a grenade, good luck trying to escape because other weapons can sometimes not be very useful in dealing with his movements. Another thing I would like to bring up is the missing areas in the game. While the game does have some very nice looking locations, some were not included like the park or clock tower areas. Now I looked back into these areas and honestly, the park was not that interesting and looked kind of boring with how it was set up and was probably not a great idea for this game. The clock tower, however, I do believe should have been kept in to make the game feel scarier with the giant spiders and add in the missing puzzles. The zombies here are not as gory and detailed as in RE2 which kind of sucks, but they can still be minor inconveniences for the player.

    The bad:
There are two main issues I have with this game, the length and the cutscenes. When playing this game, I felt the cutscenes took up way too much time in the game. There were so many moments in the game that I felt could have been used to create new areas to explore or be more interactive using quick time events to let the player do something during their run times. Also, the length of the game is short for modern games. I was able to get through this game in around 6 hours and that is too short for a game in this day and age and doesn't justify 60 dollars, maybe around $30 to $40. This was the perfect time to expand on the game and maybe even add new areas, but Capcom blew it a bit which sucks. Speaking of areas, seeing what the clock tower was in the original game and looking at RE3 remake, I felt that they should have included that area in this game.

Overall: Despite what some people may say, this game is very fun and not even close to bad. There are some issues like the length and cutscene runtimes, but overall is a fun entry in the series. The game does a great job of making Raccon City look a lot more different than in RE2 and does have many great moments of the gameplay. However, with issues such as the game's length being short and Nemesis not being a huge threat on lower difficulties, it does water down the game a bit and leaves more to be desired. It's not something I would recommend at full price, but around 40 to 30 dollars, this game is a great addition to play whenever you have some spare time

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ve played RE as they came out. So I’ve seen the series evolve. I loved the re2remake but this game was a terrible disappointment. The game ,for one, cut mercenaries mode, clock tower, grave digger, park, waste facility, live decisions, puzzles are completely gone except for 2 pathetic quick puzzles, no crows, no spiders (still), no epilogue files. Cut content everywhere.

No backtracking gets me a lot though. It’s way too linear to have any real replay value. Walk forward, cutscene, kill enemies, cutscene, set piece boss fight, cutscene. Near zero backtracking and it just becomes super boring. Nemesis is regulated to boring set piece boss fights and is only a bipedal enemy chasing you for 20 minutes then completely ceases to be a factor whatsoever. The disrespect they did to Nemesis is just awful. It near ruins the game. If you’re a old school RE fan I don’t think you’ll like this game at all. Post RE4, maybe.

The good things is the characters were portrayed great, graphics is still outstanding, gameplay still is tight, hospital segment is actually great until it ends with a game time pad segment.

What I hate is backtracking is near nonexistent, nemesis design and gameplay and utility is worse as it gets, camera gets clunky as hell during boss fights for some reason, Carlos goes to RPD instead of Jill, brads death isn’t shown at all, the game cuts to the train (traincar) part way way WAY to quickly essentially skipping a third of the game. The city was actually smaller than the original. One of the huge set pieces of RE3 is reduced to a single street. Basically what you see in the demo is what you get with the city. That’s it. This game was grossly rushed and pushed at the same target audience as RE6. I don’t know WHAT capcom was thinking. RE2r was a mixture of new and old while preserving the hallmarks of resident evil. The hallmarks are 1. Resource management 2. Puzzles 3. Branching paths that allow backtracking and exploration (Files and side story elements) in a highly detailed environment to get familiar with 4. Tough but fun combat with dangerous enemies 5. 2 playable characters. If these elements are fallowed it’s pretty much destined to be a at least a enjoyable RE game.

Plainly put, RE3r isn’t the worse RE game I’ve played but it’s easily in the bottom 1/3rd. Its also major disappointment that betrays it’s source material and the RE hallmarks I mentioned. I give it a 6.1/10 which is not a good score. It’s a near fail.

Basically Capcom is just making a cash grab with this release banking on people's nostalgia and people coming off Resident Evil 2 Remake. All you had to do was mimick the original, maybe update the dialogue and puzzles. Do what you did for RE2 and we would have had another winner but you gave us this monstrosity instead. For what it's worth, it's still an enjoyable short ride and Carlos was a standout character but really, they should have never released Resident Evil: Resistance, something that nobody wanted or ever asked for and should have spent those resources in creating a better and longer gameplay experience.

Capcom, please please do not f**k up the RE4 Remake.

Rotting corpses, Mutated creatures, and large monsters chasing you is mainly what a resident evil game entails. Resident Evil 3 has a lot of small problems that add up to really bring it down for me.

This game takes the same basic plot as the original game and tries to update to a more modern way of characterization in characters and plot instances, but I feel that the changes they made in the minor details really throws off the plot and how the player feels about them. Characters die in diffrent ways that somewhat makes the Nemesis of the game seem not as menacing because it shows him as incompetent and thus being not scary. Other things are character differences with the main cast. Jill Valentine comes of as rude and bratty in this one while in previous entries she is more wary then outright spiteful in her dialogue. Calos is a pretty good new interpretation of the character that feels like the original even though there is new attributes to his character. All the other characters didn’t really have a personality in the original so automatically they are a step up as you can now kinda get a sense of who they are with the little screen time they get. These are some of the more positive changes, but plot points and puzzles from the original are cut from this entry, so it makes the game feel like a fast pace and seem like a short game. They really should have kept these things from the original to make the game feel longer and even out the pace to amore reasonable way. It also really irks me since these were the things from the original game I was looking forward to. Overall, due to a plot that cuts things that would lengthen the game, weird fast pace I didn't really enjoy, and the main character being really unlikable to me, this game was really only an okay experience.

Resident Evil 3 Remake is very different from RE2 and changes quite a few things from the original, but despite negative thoughts expressed by fans and critics, I did not find that a bad thing! This game is amazing!

RE3 is WAY more linear then the first two remakes and it excells in it. The controls are tighter than ever, graphics are sharp, they finally brought back the indestructible knife, difficulty felt more balanced then previous games, the dodge move works fine and boss battles were improved. This entry feels a lot more like RE4 than others (especially when playing with Carlos) and that's where the magic is.
I loved that there are fewer and simpler puzzles this time, I loved Nemesis' persistance and aggression, the scripted parts are tense as hell and the horror factor is nearly untouched throughout the entire adventure, even with its action-packed moments. Also, they finally fixed the "B-Movie" style of dialogues, upgrading the writing, enhancing characters and focusing more on a solid story.
I actually cared more for the characters and that just ramps up the tension on intense periods of the campaign.

Now, I get it, there are a lot of cuts in here and that's really bad.
Although I think RE3 benefits from cutting the overwhelming amount of puzzles that the original had, cutting things like the clock tower and Gravedigger sucked a bit of the product's life and felt really unnecessary. I liked the story's pacing, but I was left wanting... more? Especially in the ending. What the **** did that final scene means? It's clueless!
The lenght of the game did not bother me, but it doesn't have the same replayability as previous ones. RE1 and 2 were amazingly well designed, with their interconnected levels and clever enemy, puzzle pieces and items placement. This one doesn't do it as well. Also, the soundtrack is good, but not used perfectly like previous REmakes.

RE3 is not as faithful to the original as Capcom's previous releases and it's certainly the least astonishing one of the trilogy, but it still packs quite a punch! You owe it to yourself to experience this tense and powerful horror classic. There's A LOT more to like than dislike.
