There is a lack of puzzles. Its' a good game to spend time on a weekend or on a boring afternoon, but it looks like they made Resident Evil 3 in a hurry just to sell the Resident Evil Resistance. And for people who expected to a exciting game like me, or even for those who are fan of the Resident Evil Series of at least the original Resident Evil 3. I'm sure they got very disappointed in the end, just like me Expand

    First of all, I would like to talk about the main frustration of the game: Nemesis. He is no longer the relentless Nemesis that haunts you all the time. This only happens at a single point in the game. And it is not the same sensation because he jumps like the Hulk and just appears in front of Jill. It is not a shark that slowly approaches its food. They should have taken advantage of that element that was already present in 2 Remake.
    Anyway, Nemesis is just an excuse for action scenes. You just need to press forward and sometimes use the dodge than you will never die. He's MUCH inferior to Mr. X. And, unlike Mr. X, Nemesis IS the heart of Resident Evil 3.
    It does not stop there. In addition to taking the heart of the Resident Evil 3 Original, they also cut landscapes, scenery and especially all the puzzles in the original game.
    For all this, it is a game that is only worth buying when you have a discount and a nice discount. Despite being fun and good, it is very short and disappointing.

    The game is good but that's what makes it more disappointing. Lack of Puzzles and cut off areas which makes it feels that the game is rushed. The characters are very good but they changed some stuff that will make hardcore fans pissed of mainly because when you buy a re3 remake you probably imagine Jill in certain situations that just are not there.

    I will start by saying I went into this with low expectations after seeing they literally copy and pasted zombies from RE2 remake. I would give this game a 5 and here's why.

    Resident Evil 3 2020 is not a bad game- or even a bad Resident Evil game. This game is way better than Resident Evil 4-5-or 6 at least in terms of staying away from pure action ( which this franchise needs to do). I would replay this game.

    With that said. Re3 is not a remake- it's a re imagining of resident evil 3: nemesis 1999- and a poor one at that. They have cut out so much content- so many iconic areas- so many NEMESIS ENCOUNTERS- that it's not even funny. They cut the grave digger boss- little worm enemies- spiders- crows- about 90% of the nemesis encounters. You see the nemesis out in the world ( when you actually have the ability to explore and not just run away) a total of two times. The nemesis does drop items like in the original- but since you can only fight him 2 times in the world- and once when you're leading him away from the shelter ( a running segment) it literally amounts to a maximum of 3 drops. The final drop being shotgun shells. Pathetic. The areas that were cut: Restaurant- Press office- 90% of the alley ways and buildings in the original- Clock Tower- City Park- Graveyard- Dead Factory- and I'm sure there are others. The story deviates significantly from the original- Resident Evil 2 remake was great in part because it stuck to a horror theme while also loyally sticking to the source material. The story is essentially identical to Resident Evil 2 1998 with a few things added or removed.
    I honestly get sick and tired of people saying well Resident Evil 3: Nemesis 1999 was more action oriented than resident evil 2- because it wasn't- not really. It had more action in the sense of fighting or fleeing nemesis - but played really like any resident evil game before it. I doubt the people who make this claim have ever really played the original games. The amount of action in this new Resident Evil 3 game compared to resident Evil 2 remake feels more like the difference between Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 (night and day- with the latter being more like an arcade game) than the difference between Resident evil 2 1998 and Resident evil 3 1999.

    Before the game came out Capcom bragged about improving Mr.X AI- that you'd be free to explore the city and that he'd pop out randomly ( like xenomorph from Alien Isolation) - as well as expanding on certain character stories and roles. None of this happened.

    While I don't believe this game is absolute **** ( deserving a 3 or below) it is a ****ty Resident Evil 3 remake- not to mention it was lazily done and rushed ( all zombies were literally copy and pasted from RE2 remake). I doubt anyone will even read this submission but those are my thoughts.

    Pros:

    Cons (comparison to classic):
    - Nemesis make me fell like I was been chasing by the Terminator;
    - Nemesis second form looks like Alien! (Are you serious Capcom?);
    - Where is the rest of Raccoon City?;
    - Nemesis fights were odd;
    - Beginning;
    - Ending.

    Unfortunately, as a fan of RE 3 classic, for me this game is poor. Again, it could have been much better. What a shame...

On top of all that, it is supposed to be a survival horror according to capcom with only limited action elements and yet it's way too action oriented for that, there is like almost no scary stuff here... Guess weak ost is also partly responsible for lack of horror atmosphere, they have remixed some old tracks, but most music is new and those new tracks is rather uninspiring, they do absolutely nothing to enhance the experience. Also, the main boss of the game, Nemesis, is mostly absent in the game, he pursue Jill only in the begging of the game and them became a standard recurring boss who only appears when the plot want it. Bizarrely it's also somewhat an inferior compare to RE 2 Remake in terms of zombies reaction towards damage - guess it's was a need sacrifice for the sake of framerate in those moments where game does not even trying to be an action-horror and just dumps tons of living corpses at you. I dunno and don't care. Since it's so bland and unoriginal in terms of gameplay I struggle to pin point what is wrong here... On it's own is just your bog standard somewhat slow console over the shoulder shooter. Guess if you like stuff like this you will be pleased, but I'm prefer far more fast paced third person shooters than what capcom, epic games and naughty dog like to do today. So yeah, they've officially promised a horror game and made your typical ots action, that's so original...
    But as a remake or even re-imagining this game is just **** It's sucks. Not only it does not respect the original source material, but it's just refuses to actually, you know, "remake" or even "re-imaging" stuff from RE3N 1999. How can it be considered a decent re-imagining when it has less locations to explore than original, lol? Where the hell is Clock Tower, Park and Dead Factory, **** What did you do to ammo crafting, why the hell I can't craft as much types of ammo as before, why less? How is this an improvement? Why the hell an old game has a deeper crafting system... This is like... I mean... Just why? Why do you have a completely inferior version of original mechanics??? Why Nemesis stopped being a proper pursuer? You literally made Mr.X in your previous remake more like original Nemesis and then you thought that it's gonna be a great idea to limit new Nemesis instead? Why the hell the game is not scary, original was like in top 3 scariest games in the series and what, at some point you have randomly decide to turn it into in almost pure shooter? Who the hell asked that?! Why did't you replaced the Live Selection with something else if you thought that it's bad or not good enough feature for this game? How the hell it's an improvement to make a linear game with weaker story instead of no-linear one? I know I have already wrote about an inferior level design compare to original, but it's not just that, the thing is most locations is completely unrecognizable! At least RE2 Remake as limited as it was still featured that Police Station, with brand new, but still recognizable appearance and nothing like that is presented here, absolutely nothing! People who defends this game is trying to downplay the cuts by claiming that city and hospital are still in, but they're not because nothing looks familiar aside from some super minor nods. We've got very small hub section of the city instead of couple different places like it was done in original, but new city is not just smaller it also completely different too and same thing with hospital, which means that no, capcom decide to cut not just three location, they have literally CUT THE WHOLE DAMN GAME SINCE ASIDE FROM POLICE STATION NONE OF THE LEVEL LOOKS LIKE THEY USED TO, THEY ARE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AREAS, WITH DIFFERENT TONE, STYLE AND ARCHITECTURE. Capcom have cut the entire goddamn game, not just park/tower/factory... It's so disappointingly unfaithful... After all these years, we've got both an inferior game on it's own and bad remake/re-imaging as well! I just can't believe this. And press is fine with it, they don't care, they even claim that original game was an action-shooter too. It's no wounder that it's so overrated, reviewers literally don't even trying to be objective here and straight up lying about original in order to find an excuses for all these shortcoming and failures. But you know what? I don't care.

He is in the company to make money. Yes, on the video he smiles, says that he loves all of you very much and appreciates every fan, but he really doesn’t care about your opinions. When there was a videoconferencing of investors before the release of remake 2 and they said that it would be released, I and another guy from France seemed to be interested in how canonical the remake would be (2), it would be a remake as a remake of 1 part or a restart, on that he replied (almost verbatim): "Everyone doesn’t give a damn about what happened a long time ago. Now it’s a new time and we need a new audience. And those who played early games will not even remember half, so the canon is what we are creating now" . 2. After Re7, when the game was kindly asked and asked for a remake2, he was very opposed and wanted to continue the story of Ethan. In general, he is very proud and feels himself the savior of the series. 3. Remake 3 was completely ready a month after the release of remake 2. They slowed down specially, they wanted to look at the fees, if they were worse, remake3 should have gone as a paid add-on. Model Jill, by the way, was ready after Leon, but before Claire. But Remake2 soared into the charts and then he advanced the decision to repeat the feint and sell Remake3 as a new game. For the entire time after the release of remake 2, only the menu was moved to the center, added dodging (with her flash her mother), the model of Nemesis and its form of mutation were slightly corrected. Everything. 4. Resistance was riveted almost on the knee, redoing and trimming the early version of the Battle mod for a remake2. To the question of why, “now games of a similar genre are fashionable (several players run away against one, such as Friday the 13th, I’m not interested in that honestly) and you need to enter the market, you need to try again to enter microtransactions, it’s profitable” (remember the first steps in Relevance2?). 5. He does not like spiders. Therefore, they are not. And in the concept of a remake of 1 part, the Black Tiger is cut almost immediately. At first I wanted to cut Lisa, but I watched Mr. X come in and now she is in his role. I hope they will redo everything, I will not get access to this info already, the investment contract ends in June. 6. In addition to the main game, there is a DLC with the working name Last escape - about Nicholas. He really likes him. Released or not - not in the know. There is a suspicion that they will not be released. They know that because of the short duration, the negative is now walking on the network. Of course, he doesn’t give a damn - the main thing is that they carry the loot, but from above they told the situation not to glow. 7. The old parts are generally very cold and rather negative. He says he would have done much better, redid a lot. Therefore, the Revelations series has now hung, he does not like the whole story with the Wesker. 8. The development is now part 8 (the very one that was restarted with this **** Ethan), the concept of remake1 and the outbreak for viar in the manner of chronicles (rail in the sense, but against the background of the recent half-life, they’ll probably remake something like that). Soon they should show something, I’m not specifically aware of it, I have nothing to do with these “two” remakes. 9. The re3.5 developments were taken in re8, he generally proposed re4,5,6 to throw out the new concept, make a remake of Veronica officially as part 4, but now as far as I know they don’t work on it, maybe the second studio is working, I don’t know Something like that. I have not been to the videoconferencing since January and I will not continue to cooperate. Since childhood, I had a dream to touch the series. Touched. At least in the form of an investor. I don’t like who now “directs” her. The development team doesn’t like Fabiano very much, the Japanese are more turned towards the fans and want to move the old universe, but the board of directors likes that the money for the series goes in large volumes with not very large budgets. If remake3 financially repeats the success of remake2 (God forbid surpasses), wait for the next cut.
    - Now a remake of 1 early concert. The script and all that. Fabiano does not like animal enemies, so under the knife went spiders, crows, worms. They barely barely persuaded Gennady. And the dogs. By the way, under the clock tower there should have been a basement with spiders. But the tower with them went to the same place as the cemetery with worms.

    The game feels like RE5-6 in terms of mechanics and gameplay and that's exactly everything that is wrong with this remake, if we can call it that.
    Nemesis is a joke, it's like a MR.X with an awful redesign. He's heavily scripted and his behaviour doesn't make any sense. Not to mention that some of his moves are a joke.
    The gore has been reduced for no reason, the OST is just terrible and like in RE2 Remake, they didn't tried their best at all. But at least in RE2 we had the option to switch to the original OST while in RE3 that option doesn't exist and you're forced to play with the awful remake version of the songs.
    And don't even get me started on the final battle which is pure unfiltered garbage straight out of an anime or the typical Platinum games that i hate.

    Hard to believe how they butchered this remake after the masterpiece that they've done with Reside nt Evil 2 remake.
    Refund made, i'm not even bothering with Capcom and future Resident Evil titles anymore, this is just pathetic.

    This is what happens when you leave the remake in charge of an incompetent team that didn't even play the original game.

    I liked the changes that they made to the original and how they made it fit in better with the Resident Evil 2 remake by showing you what happens before the events of RE2. I thought that was really cool.

    I did enjoy the more linear and action orientated game play, even though I am a huge fan of the puzzle solving in Resident Evil 1 Remake and Zero and 2 etc...this was nice to still have the resource management and but with very light puzzle solving.

    I definitely think this is a massive improvement over the original Resident Evil 3 and a good game for people who haven't played a Resident Evil game before to dive in and try out the easy mode.

    There are lots of challenges and replay value on the harder levels for more experienced players and it's a lot of fun to play through multiple times to unlock all the extras.

But this installment made me divided. The first part of the game was great, and that's it. The design of the Hunters were pretty great and they are awsome. Carlos is awsome, the cinematics are great. The OST is ok, with original tracks remixed. The ties with RE2 were fine. But RE soul is to explore, to backtrack, to solve riddles and puzzles. This is a deal breaker for me, i wont be buying any titles from here on, CAPCOM begun to make great things with RE Engine but it seems they entered the "confort" zone again. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After playing to completion in just under 5 hours with 11 deaths I feel this game lacks the same draw and appeal that its predecessor brought to the fan base. I have played Resident Evil 2 remake multiple times and this new release does not compare in many aspects. RE3 remake does bring with it a more action orientated approach with the dodge mechanic and the more aggressive and agile Nemesis when he appears but the story flies along and seems more of an afterthought than a critical part of the game. There has been changes from the original game to locations to make them feel more modern with little twists such as Carlos being the one to enter the police station instead of Jill. But the omission of the clock tower area with the substitute being a boss battle with stage 2 Nemesis around a roundabout in front of said clock tower felt cheap and it was things like this that cheapened the experience along with the knowledge that the game can be completed in under 2 hours (trophy/achievement details this) that made this seem a little cash grabby. Overall if you are a fan of the Resident Evil series you will no doubt enjoy this retelling of the PS1 classic but if like me you played the classic when it originally released you may be slightly disappointed, especially when compared to last years RE2 remake. I think Capcom would have saved some criticism if they had released this as a stand alone expansion for £25 or pushed back the release and expanded on the story not reducing it. Expand

    What a disappointment. First and foremost the game is way too short for the price that it's being advertised as. A full $60 for a 2 hr game. This is not a remake title more like a DLC or "expansion pack" to RE2's REMAKE. The gameplay is nearly the same, few more action segments with Jill's action. And speaking of Jill not only did they take away any femininity the character had but CAPCOMWhat a disappointment. So WHY in the heck is Jill in shorts and not her SKIRT from resident evil 3? This outfit has been used in RE1 Remake, Chronicles, and other titles. But now she gets shorts? Way to bend the knee Capcom, in the worst way possible. After watching others play and stream the game and my own brief time with it I quickly got a full refund from Steam. Give this game a pass or WAIT until it is in a bargain bin steam sale. It's NOT worth $60! Not one bit. Expand

    Pretty good remake. Although it was only a 8-9 hours long on story mode ,2 hours of cutscenes included..
    All the characters are cool. Looks great. Many scenes put a big smile on my face.

    Isso não é Remake nem Reimaginacção, nada haver com jogo original, cortaram coisas do original que fez ele virar um jogo curto, vazio, e não vale seu preço original.

    I'm one of the biggest RE fans out there. Of course I played every title to death, esp. the old trilogy and CVX. So I'm a fan of the original RE3 too. This remake is a joke. Of course it's too short but the worst for me: they cut out not only the decisions at some time but the clock tower! THE CLOCK TOWER - my fav. location in the original Cut out. Because of cash grab. RE2 remake last year was a good game, not perfect, but decent. But this one here is bs.

    I hope they will do a REAL remake of code veronica x. like RE1 remake (REmake).

    Horrible. This is such a downgrade from 2, they decided to cut all of the relevant and major events and locations from the original, this feels rushed, feels more like a DLC than a main game.

    Even though it is a very successful game, you will feel a little disappointed. Compared to the remake of the second game, this one often loses its pace and it is impossible to get rid of the impression that there could and should have been more to this game. [Issue#303]

    All we can say is that six hours of Resident Evil 3 is just enough - and we're aware that's both compliment and curse. [Issue#346, p.88]

    After a stellar remake of an arguably the best Resident Evil game ever made, Capcom has let down our expectations by giving us a more scripted, more linear survival horror action game that will probably be forgotten like so many sequels that have gone the path of less resistance when it comes to game design. RE3 make feels more like a DLC than a full-blown game.
