It's not horrible, but basically a very short DLC from the Resident Evil 2 remake. If it was $20 that would be about the right price for a good rating. Resident Evil 2 had several mini stories that were separate from the main story that you could play. This game is basically a longer one of those stories.

The original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999) is by far the most unsettling, intense, and haunting chapter of the original RE trilogy with very good pacing and exploration. It took what came before and injected steroids into it. It was also quite heavy on action, but not overwhelmingly so. What this 'reimagining' did is it got rid of the former (exploration & pacing) and overdosed on the latter (action). Just as Nemesis was removed from the title of the game, you might as well argue he was removed from the game entirely since he was reduced to an extremely scripted occurrence. What the players were teased with was open worlded exploration of Raccoon City as you'd be relentlessly chased by a Mr. X-like enemy. What ended up happening is that you're constantly being pushed in the direction you're supposed to go in an extremely streamlined version of the city (about 50% of the original locations are missing) and the player is incessantly bombarded by scripted action sequences that require barely any input from them to get through besides pressing "Up." A massive disappointment and a travesty considering the price Capcom is charging for what essentially feels like a DLC. Expand

This remake is an insult. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is a classic and one of the best of the OG RE games. To see it reduced to a few scripted chase sequences and cutscenes is seriously disheartening.

Most areas consist of two corridors except the hospital which is the only good part of RE3R. Oh, and the most iconic area in the original game, the clock tower, is completely cut out but you get a document that mentions it! Presumably just to add insult to injury.

Capcom must understand that defiling a classic like this is unacceptable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a fan of the resident evil franchise since game one I say this with a heavy heart, the Resident Evil 3 "Re-imagination" falls short. Lets begin by saying if you expect the game kind of changes RE2R made you RE2 you're going to have a bad time. This time they didn't just remove a few enemies and shorten levels. They removed over half the game content such as the clock tower, water treatment plant, and the park. What they did keep was critically reduced to either a few city blocks like down nostalgia corner, or a dynamic cinematic like uptown or the final boss nemesis. They also replaced Jills nostalgic return to RPD with a slapped together speed run of a few rooms with Carlos. Reduced the umbrella factory to a fee few seconds of nest re skined. Gave you a wolf boss fight re skinned with nemesis hound not just once but twice as the only only other boss fight of the game. And for some reason added a power station section that focuses on impregnating Jill via graphic oral technical rape... Legitimate not a joke. A side from this you get to pay full price for a half rendered side demo made from scrap environments left over from RE2R jammed together to allow your avatar to fumble through. With out any side missions or B play through to add replay value this extended cutscene will disappoint you for $1 every minute of actual game play if you buy it on sale. Expand

This game is complete crap. You play at medium difficulty setting, as if playing at high difficulty level. The developers of the game are clearly deprived of logic, otherwise the storyline would have been more thoughtful. I do not recommend buying the game.

This is not even a remake or a re-imagination like RE 2 Remake was.
Resident Evil 3 is a disaster.

The game feels like RE5-6 in terms of mechanics and gameplay and that's exactly everything that is wrong with this remake, if we can call it that.
Nemesis is a joke, it's like a MR.X with an awful redesign. He's heavily scripted and his behaviour doesn't make any sense. Not to mention that some of his moves are a joke.
The gore has been reduced for no reason, the OST is just terrible and like in RE2 Remake, they didn't tried their best at all. But at least in RE2 we had the option to switch to the original OST while in RE3 that option doesn't exist and you're forced to play with the awful remake version of the songs.
And don't even get me started on the final battle which is pure unfiltered garbage straight out of an anime or the typical Platinum games that i hate.

Hard to believe how they butchered this remake after the masterpiece that they've done with Reside nt Evil 2 remake.
Refund made, i'm not even bothering with Capcom and future Resident Evil titles anymore, this is just pathetic.

This is what happens when you leave the remake in charge of an incompetent team that didn't even play the original game.

I loved the original RE3, it was fun, had tons of replayability, and got me into the RE series, so for this "reimagining" I actually got the best TV in the market an, on of the best GPU, and the best surround sound, to play this game, if it was going to dissaapoint it wont be because of hardware, so I made the investment.

I was expecting a GREAT game, but to many red flags were raised before its release, culminating with total disapointment, this game is just a cash grab, nothing more.

The good: The controls are perfect, the Graphics are great and Carlos voice actor is charming as **** and thats it.

Now the bad: Everything else about it is just either reused and copy pasted all over the place, buggy, uncomplete, boring and lazy

This game is rushed, it really needed at least one more year of work, to be in an acceptable state, I would like to say that its a shadow of the original but its not, everything about it is a missed oportunity, its full of reused zombies/assets all over the place, i could even count the same zombie fat zombie with yellow vest up to 7 times, theres a wise saying that says "variety is the spice of life" and this game does not have it, they just copy/pasted EVERYTHING all over the place, even entire zones from REmake2

Music?, its there yes, buts its so bad, that you cant even notice it, to the point you might just fall asleep (as bad as REmake2), and this time they didnt even bother to add the old sountrack to keep you awake

Everything about this game is a downgrade to the original RE3, I would probably say its worth 15 bucks, dont waste your time, I would regret even watching a long play of this

On top of all that, it is supposed to be a survival horror according to capcom with only limited action elements and yet it's way too action oriented for that, there is like almost no scary stuff here... Guess weak ost is also partly responsible for lack of horror atmosphere, they have remixed some old tracks, but most music is new and those new tracks is rather uninspiring, they do absolutely nothing to enhance the experience. Also, the main boss of the game, Nemesis, is mostly absent in the game, he pursue Jill only in the begging of the game and them became a standard recurring boss who only appears when the plot want it. Bizarrely it's also somewhat an inferior compare to RE 2 Remake in terms of zombies reaction towards damage - guess it's was a need sacrifice for the sake of framerate in those moments where game does not even trying to be an action-horror and just dumps tons of living corpses at you. I dunno and don't care. Since it's so bland and unoriginal in terms of gameplay I struggle to pin point what is wrong here... On it's own is just your bog standard somewhat slow console over the shoulder shooter. Guess if you like stuff like this you will be pleased, but I'm prefer far more fast paced third person shooters than what capcom, epic games and naughty dog like to do today. So yeah, they've officially promised a horror game and made your typical ots action, that's so original...
But as a remake or even re-imagining this game is just **** It's sucks. Not only it does not respect the original source material, but it's just refuses to actually, you know, "remake" or even "re-imaging" stuff from RE3N 1999. How can it be considered a decent re-imagining when it has less locations to explore than original, lol? Where the hell is Clock Tower, Park and Dead Factory, **** What did you do to ammo crafting, why the hell I can't craft as much types of ammo as before, why less? How is this an improvement? Why the hell an old game has a deeper crafting system... This is like... I mean... Just why? Why do you have a completely inferior version of original mechanics??? Why Nemesis stopped being a proper pursuer? You literally made Mr.X in your previous remake more like original Nemesis and then you thought that it's gonna be a great idea to limit new Nemesis instead? Why the hell the game is not scary, original was like in top 3 scariest games in the series and what, at some point you have randomly decide to turn it into in almost pure shooter? Who the hell asked that?! Why did't you replaced the Live Selection with something else if you thought that it's bad or not good enough feature for this game? How the hell it's an improvement to make a linear game with weaker story instead of no-linear one? I know I have already wrote about an inferior level design compare to original, but it's not just that, the thing is most locations is completely unrecognizable! At least RE2 Remake as limited as it was still featured that Police Station, with brand new, but still recognizable appearance and nothing like that is presented here, absolutely nothing! People who defends this game is trying to downplay the cuts by claiming that city and hospital are still in, but they're not because nothing looks familiar aside from some super minor nods. We've got very small hub section of the city instead of couple different places like it was done in original, but new city is not just smaller it also completely different too and same thing with hospital, which means that no, capcom decide to cut not just three location, they have literally CUT THE WHOLE DAMN GAME SINCE ASIDE FROM POLICE STATION NONE OF THE LEVEL LOOKS LIKE THEY USED TO, THEY ARE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AREAS, WITH DIFFERENT TONE, STYLE AND ARCHITECTURE. Capcom have cut the entire goddamn game, not just park/tower/factory... It's so disappointingly unfaithful... After all these years, we've got both an inferior game on it's own and bad remake/re-imaging as well! I just can't believe this. And press is fine with it, they don't care, they even claim that original game was an action-shooter too. It's no wounder that it's so overrated, reviewers literally don't even trying to be objective here and straight up lying about original in order to find an excuses for all these shortcoming and failures. But you know what? I don't care.

These people lied. Because of their own success, they themselves have become arrogant. I really feel betrayed when I think about advertising a lot in the pre-creativity period. RE3 was my first game and it was in Jap language but still it hooked me and because horror genre is my favorite genre when it comes to movies since i was kid. And that game just blew me away. And since Resident Evil HD Remake I've been waiting for a RE3 Remake and when RE2 Rem dropped and i played it i was a very happy day for me not only bevause that game was amazing but it gabe me hope for the RE3 Remake. Then capcom dropped the trailer and i couldn't control my emotions, the game which introduced me to proper gaming was now finally coming. And then i played the demo and i was so happy that i cant express it. And the the game released.....
Finished it in around 5 hrs, almost all of the puzzles were cut down, multiple options are not there, atleast half of the game is missing if not more. Nemesis is a joke compared to the original as a boss, sure his other form in the remake is cool but the tension he created in the original wasnt there at all in the remake. Sure the game was cool but compared to re2 rem and the original re3 that game was like an insult tothe fans like me. I cant control my anger if i had the powernthen i would have fire the guys who made that stupid decision. Yeah if they released the game as a dlc and from 20 to 25$ tops then my disappointment would have been alot less and may be i would have been ok with because it being just a dlc to re2 rem.
If i neglect my anger and disappointment then the game is 7 at best compared to re2 rem and not a buy for 60$ (30$ at best) but i am giving it a 0 hoping someone at crapcom sees the 0 and descide to read it so they can learn what have they done to fan like me of the game. The map in this game is lazily designed in this game. It is so linear, to the point that it breaks immersion. The story is terrible and poorly written. The characters are very cringeworthy and the voice acting is atrocious. The developers were too lazy to design puzzles. The AI is incredibly stupid in this game. There are no scenarios.

I complained about the lack of multiplayer in RE2 remake, and it's good to see the developers actually listened to my complaints. It's too bad that the multiplayer is garbage in this game. There is only 1 game mode and it is a 4v1 survival mode. The map is too small for a third person shooter. It doesn't help that the player movement and aiming is trash, making this mode tedious. Usually you would expect the multiplayer to be downgraded to help the game run better, but it is the other way around in this game. The multiplayer has better physics and gore than the singleplayer. This goes to show that the singleplayer team is lazy and the production team is horrible. I only recommend this game if it is $5 or less.

I am an original RE fan from the very beginning and I had to beg my mother to let me rent RE 1 (when blockbuster was around for you young kids) on the PS. From there it led to a love of the series! When Capcom released RE 3 it was by far my favorite!

It was a combination of playing Jill who is my favourite character from the series, playing in the city which was sprawling (and you could revisit areas - more on this later), the hair raising moments you had to make decisions that affected the story and of course Nemesis!

Based on the RE 2 remake - which was excellent, I had high hopes that I could relive my experience as a young kid with RE3 remake. Sadly, it didn't come close.

From the very beginning it was too action based - I mean you nonchalantly are introduced to Nemesis 5 minutes in!? Unlike the epic intro in the original game.

They eluded to Brad having a bigger role to play in this version - he did not - it was much less.

Don't get me wrong it was fun in the moment, you barely had time to catch your breath but it just wasn't a resident evil game. Not survival horror, but action based.

I agree with a lot of the reviews that say this feels like a rushed, add-on campaign - not a stand alone game.

It's very linear (story wise and map wise), you move from one area to another, with no option to return unlike the original - if you forgot something in another area you had to retrace your steps through the city to obtain what you needed to move forward.

I hate how Capcom eliminated the option to choose where the story went unlike the original.

Now Nemesis... how disappointing and represents nothing like the original! He only shows up for a cut scene or boss fight. The original had him chasing you from area to area. He made RE 3 original and he was so absent from this version. Again feeling forced for story purposes.

Many areas were missing from the original as well. Mainly the clock tower, cemetery / park.

I am not looking for an exact replica of the original but this had nothing to pay homage to the original.

RE 2 Remake nailed it. RE 3 is an unfortunate epic fail and I just feel Capcom rushed this to captivate off its profits from RE 2 Remake without paying attention to details. I will not replay this game.

After a stellar remake of an arguably the best Resident Evil game ever made, Capcom has let down our expectations by giving us a more scripted, more linear survival horror action game that will probably be forgotten like so many sequels that have gone the path of less resistance when it comes to game design. RE3 make feels more like a DLC than a full-blown game.
