    The original Resident Evil 2 was for me one when the best games I played when it first came out, so when I heard they were doing a remake back in 2015 at first I was concerned about how this remake will be but after playing it last year I was really surprised by how good this game turned out to be.

    NO SE COMPREN EL JUEGO. Advertidos estáis! Déjenme decirles que yo soy un gran fan del original, y me lo pase al 100% con Tofu y todo. Así que cuando me entere de que sacarían un remake, lo reserve y lo compre. Estaba emocionado! Pero termino siendo una basura, ahora mismo lo estoy devolviendo.
    -Dificultad desbalanceada: Puzzles imposibles de resolver, enemigos que son como esponjas de    NO SE COMPREN EL JUEGO. Advertidos estáis!     -Gráficos: Los gráficos... Son muy buenos la verdad! Pero todas las zonas del juego son excesivamente oscuras.
    -Música: La música del juego original era de 10. Recuerdan la musiquita de la comisaria? Este... no tiene ni canciones ni nada....
    Un asco la verdad... Capcom no sabe ni hacer remakes. Deberían de aprender de Activision. Ellos si saben hacer remakes FIELES al material original como corresponde como el Crash N Sane Trilogy... Por que no podían sacar los 3 primeros Resident Evil y que sean fieles al original pero con un lavado de cara? Parecido a como hicieron con el remake de Gamecube!!! Eso hubiera estado interesante!     Pretty hard to screw up a Resident Evil 2 remake and for the most part they didn't but the cut content from the original is pretty unforgivable and unnecessary

    As an old player, who was 12 when first playing RE1 and RE2 back in the day, I was worried about this remake, thinking "it wouldn't be as it was". And it wasn't, not completely. However, the characters feels genuine and as I remember them, some of the more epic moments has been kept in like I remembered them and the storyline is, albeit built up more, pretty much as I remember it. WhereAs an old player, who was 12 when first playing RE1 and RE2 back in the day, I was worried about this remake, thinking "it wouldn't be as it was". And it wasn't, not completely. However, the characters feels genuine and as I remember them, some of the more epic moments has been kept in like I remembered them and the storyline is, albeit built up more, pretty much as I remember it. Where they've made changes, they've put in alternative scenes, like changing the first licker meeting to a different location or made it play out a bit differently; while yet still having the "feel of the moment" be preserved. I still remember that mind-numbing horror from first seeing the licker, and I felt it again now; to an even greater degree because they have somehow managed to make lickers feel even more bloody terrifying than they were! They're bigger, faster and a genuine threat that makes you hesitate to take them on even if you need to for the one reason or the other. The zombies, you can still run circles around them, for the most part, but they are really pesky and tend to get back up again. So seeing a hallway with 2 or more of them still cause a big lump in my throat, because like the original, ammo is scarce, health items are scarce; and you constantly have to be watchful of how much you spend needlessly.

    I can't comment on much more without spoiling, but that's the essence of it. Somehow, they have recreated the "scares" and amplified them! RE2 RM is an absolutely terrifying game to play at times; and there are moments where you think you're safe, just to turn around and see something that makes your heart pretty much explode. I don't know how many times I started swearing at the screen, cause something scared the living you know what out of me. And I'm not that easy to scare, to be honest, having been a horror movie/-games fan for many years.

    And it does a good job of making sure you get the kind of game experience you want. If you like it rough, there's hard-core mode. If you're on the squeamish side, there's an easy mode. And if you think maybe you just wanna go the middle way, there's that option too. Another thing I really liked was that you can choose your controller set; alternative buttons for various actions. The default button for the running toggle is the R3 (stick) which is rough on my thumb which tends to get inflamed. I could switch the controller set to one where the run toggle was on R1 instead, which is much easier on my hands. So albeit giving you a hard core horrifying experience; the game mechanics themselves are user friendly and gives a lot of options so that you can play the game in a way that's comfortable for you and gives you the kind of experience you want.

    Last things; this game, is possibly the most gorgeous game I have seen in a long, long time! Sure, it's bloody and full of gore, but man those graphics are absolutely amazing from the scenery to the facial animations of the characters. And the atmosphere, created by the eerie music, weird scary noises and the flickering lights here and there; its brutal and ingenious all at the same time. I can't even begin to say how impressed I was by how they've built this fantastic horror play box. There's some serious effort that's been put in and every facet of the game is so incredibly well done.

    For me, who was worried when the details of the game started coming out, I can't say anything else than that they really positively surprised me in the end. It's an easy 10/10 for me; and I am so happy that they did such an amazing job with it, considering I've been waiting 5 years for this game to finally show up, after they announced it was in the works. Must be five years now, no? I waited before that too, but the point is; this old timer is very happy with the end result! And even though Claire and Leon looks younger, it makes sense that they do since they are actually supposed to be quite young and looked perhaps a bit too old for their actual age in the older games. Ada was portrayed pretty well too, although she looks more Asian/white than actual Asian. Imagine a Kristin Kreuk, only maybe a bit less sweet and with a bit more bite.

    I babble. 10/10 guys. Highly recommended if you like scaring yourself silly, hehe. And it works for both old timers like me and the new crowd, I'd imagine, as it tells the story well and stands on its own feet.    … Expand

    I hated Leon and the original RE. The first 3 look angry as hell and the others were more action than horror but this game made me love the original story. RE7 was the first RE I saw and I loved it but I still prefer RE2 because its just that good.

    This game does for Survival horror in 2019 what the original did in the late 90s. I give the score a 10, only because I can't give a 9.5... So I round up.

    Modernized where necessary but still true to the original for the most part. It pays respect as often as it can to the original while not disrupting the game much, if at all.     This game overall did everything I had hoped it would do and more. This is how I remember Resident Evil. I can only hope for a Resident Evil 3 remake in the same way soon.

    I only have a few negative things I can say about it. Most of which just sort of pay homage to earlier games. Such as being attacked takes a few seconds... but it also raises the tension as any other enemy in the area gets closer and you get the risk of being attacked again.

    The inventory can be small, at the same time that goes into the difficulty of survival and thinking before you bring everything with you. So again. Not really a negative as it's the intended design and makes you decide between medicine to heal, weapons, ammo and the key items you need. Also space to pick items up. It's all part of the survival aspect.    … Expand

    Parto de la base de que estoy en contra de los remakes, pero al menos en este caso, no es el remake de un juego de 2010, al menos hablamos de un juego medianamente antiguo, en el cual han tenido que rehacer el juego por completo. Creo que capcom ha hecho un juego muy a la altura de todas las generaciones nuevas que no lo hubiesen jugado en su momento, han sabido    SPOILERS DENTRO.

    Parto de la base de que estoy en contra de los remakes, pero al menos en este caso, no es el remake de un juego de 2010, al menos hablamos de un juego medianamente antiguo, en el cual han tenido que rehacer el juego por completo.

    Creo que capcom ha hecho un juego muy a la altura de todas las generaciones nuevas que no lo hubiesen jugado en su momento, han sabido introducir una ambientación correcta de lo que se espera en un juego de terror, y no solo con unos pocos jumpscares, el conjunto de sonidos, música, iluminación y demás elementos nos permiten disfrutar de una sensación de terror a menudo.

    En lo que a personajes se refiere, creo que aquí han cometido uno de los mayores errores, ya que han cambiado muchas cosas originales para, supongo que hacer una construcción de personajes mas simple para gente joven.
    La relación entre los 2 protagonistas, es casi nula, no se justifica prácticamente que finalmente se vayan juntos, en la historia original coincidían en sucesivas ocasiones, incluso teniendo una radio para estar en contacto, esto ayuda al jugador a empatizar con los personajes y además justifica el hecho de que haya 2 personajes "cooperando" en un escenario para buscar la solución y escapar.
    La doctora Annete es uno de los cambios que menos me han gustado, ya que en la obra original odiaba a Leon por hacer daño a su marido, esta claro que era una persona enferma obsesionada y loca ya que viendo en lo que se ha convertido William lo lógico sería lo que ocurre en el remake, que ella quiera respuestas y detener a su marido, pero me gustaba la versión original de un personaje mentalmente dañado y orgullosa de su creación, que en este remake simplemente es una mala madre pero responsable socialmente.
    La aparición de personajes de la obra original con historias modificadas(Marvin el poli, el jefe irons, Ben el de la celda) es una idea atractiva, pero nada desarrollada. Ben tiene una novia que justamente es el "Trofeo" del jefe irnos, pero no nos dice nada mas, cosa que no hubiese costado ni 30 minutos de juego. El policía Marvin sustituye una genial cinemática como la que nos ofrecían en 1998 en su conversión a zombie, por su cooperación continua, conversación en la trama y que le cojamos cariño, pero luego se muere y ya, ahí esta, hecho un zombie le matamos y punto. Y sobre el jefe Irons, no costaba nada haber desarrollado un poquito el tema del orfanato, y hablando sobre el orfanato...

    Es la mejor decisión del juego, me encanta que añadan cosas así en juegos que vuelven a hacer, un escenario nuevo con historia adicional, pero no lo desarrollan nada!apenas hay un par de hojas con notas, pero solo sirve para que manejemos a sherry durante 5 minutos, podríamos haber tenido que realizar alguna puzzle de todos los que han quitado del juego original o algo...

    El juego es muy fluido, hay algunos fallos de texturas por exceso de brillo a veces, pero sinceramente no pongo ni una pega en este punto, y los enemigos están super bien hechos, me encanta como puedes dispararles a una pierna y que se caigan y cosas así, aunque es cierto, que han eliminado muchos enemigos para tardar menos en hacerlo, y se hecha en falta algunos enemigos como las arañas.
    La munición diría que es acorde a la dificultad que elijas, ya que en dificultad normal, es cierto que te puede sobrar bastante, pero es que es eso lo que has elegido, que sea NORMAL, si quieres un autentico reto, la dificultad hardcore es un reto decente para estas generaciones.

    El juego creo que se merecería una nota mucho mas amplia de haber mantenido lo que era el punto mas fuerte del juego de 1998, que eran las campañas simultáneas con una coherencia. En este juego simplemente lo que han hecho es una serie de historias diferentes que comparten el 80% de los hechos ocurridos, ES UN TERRIBLE ERROR. No lo hace mal juego, pero si lo hace mal remake. Me explico, una persona que no haya jugado al juego original veo normal que diga que este juego le parece un 8,5 puesto que me parece muy buen juego, pero creo que dandole un 7 he sido muy benévolo ya que es casi un insulto que algo que era MAGNIFICO como esas 2 campañas en las que cuando uno hacia algo, el otro no tenia que hacerlo, o que coger un arma significaba que el otro no iba a poder hacerlo, era genial para la época y a día de hoy, una idea genial para crear coherencia y continuidad en una historia de 2 personajes que recorren un mismo escenario a la vez.

    por útimo, han censurado muchas cosas, me gustaría que fuese mas explícito, que si te revientan la cabeza sea vea, pero bueno, entiendo que al igual que como han hecho con Anette, quieren que todo sea mas "Family Friendly".

    En resumen, una recomendación segura a cualquiera que lo quiera jugar, y de gustarte, que juegues a la obra original para disfrutarla tambien.    … Expand

    Resident Evil 2 is the new gold standard in both survival horror and recreating a classic game. Not only does it pay homage to the 1998 original, it throws story twists and turns to keep even those loyal fans who have memorized the original on their toes. Capcom did this classic justice and that's not an easy thing to do.

    The updated graphics, voice acting and gameplay was a great adaptation for this remake. It carries the spirit of the original game while looking beautiful in the process and remains a good horror game. The story is top notch and the characters are fun with a solid background.     It is the third my favourite survival game after Last of Us & Last of Us Part 2,but this game is very cool the narrative and level design is perfect,when Tyrant is chasing you in Police Station game become really scary horror with survival aspects.Soundtrack is me-h.

Jugabilidad bien cuidada, la camara al hombro en este juego me encanta. Graficos realistas, muy superior al RE 7. He tardado 32 horas en pasarme las 2 historias (me gusto exprimirlo). Le doy un 9 porque muchas veces parece irreal disparar 10 o 15Me parece de los mejores remakes de la historia. Por fin se nota la tension y el panico en un juego de resident evil despues de tantos años. Jugabilidad bien cuidada, la camara al hombro en este juego me encanta.     RE2 comes back and kicks ass! Everything in this game deserves praise. RE2 pushed me to have long sessions just to see what happens next - it's nice to once again see the characters that we love and care about. Also, thanks to grat graphics and design the game creates a fantastic horror atmosphere: a must-play title for all the horror fans.

    Great graphics and design, i like game play but the worst thing in this game dark, too dark i try to adjuste display setting but not still same problem dark, also i don't like this 2n run game It should be two senarios.

    I loved the orignal, but this is so good ! The atmosphere is way too good and scary, the graphics are awesome, and the gameplay it's just perfect. a truely welcome back for the King of survival horror !

    I loved this game I wish like the dodge they have in number 3 was in this game n unbreakable knife but still loved it. I hope they do remake number 4 and make it like this game just with some of the cool features like dodge n unbreakable knife from # 3 in # 4. But also hope they make it better cuz its newer but still keep a lot of the story the same I would love to c that happen.

    Отличнейшая игра, нет слов. Я не играл в оригинальную игру, но несмотря на это, RE2 Remake мне очень сильно полюбился. Однозначно лучшая игра 2019 года

If they would have designed it on a way the scenarios were disconnected from each other, this game would be perfect. The gameplay,music, graphics are beautiful. And it's the first Horror game in YEARS! that don't rely on jump scares to scare you.     Quando estavam desenvolvendo esse jogo achei que a escolha da câmera em terceira pessoa em cima dos ombros era meio estranha por não ser nem a câmera do jogo original e nem a câmera que a CAPCOM estava introduzindo em seus títulos mais recentes, a câmera em primeira pessoa, e no fim eles escolheram um estilo de câmera que estavam abandonando... estranho mas... . Pensei: bom pra mim porqueQuando estavam desenvolvendo esse jogo achei que a escolha da câmera em terceira pessoa em cima dos ombros era meio estranha por não ser nem a câmera do jogo original e nem a câmera que a CAPCOM estava introduzindo em seus títulos mais recentes, a câmera em primeira pessoa, e no fim eles escolheram um estilo de câmera que estavam abandonando... estranho mas... . Pensei: bom pra mim porque não sou particularmente fã da câmera em primeira pessoa, mas fiquei um pouco chateado já que esperava a câmera clássica já que para mim o remake do 1 foi mais do que perfeito e eu esperava que um remake do 2 seguisse aquele modelo que deu muito certo. Achava que a câmera nessa posição fosse levar o jogo pro mesmo lado dos RE4 e RE5, jogos dos quais eu gosto mas n era o que esperava do remake do dois. No final das contas essa escolha se mostrou muito fantasístico ao meu ver, uma vez que o estilo do jogo não foi puxado para o lado dos títulos de ação. Na verdade, e surpreendentemente, a atmosfera dos jogos clássicos se manteve, muito por causa da ótima ambientação, com lugares escuros, mas também por eles terem mantido os inimigos base (os zumbis) difíceis (o suficiente) de matar. Alias o jeito como eles parecem que morreram mas levantam depois de um tempo foi uma excelente adição ao clima de terror e insegurança. A manutenção do conceito de indas e vindas pelo mapa atras de itens chave somadas ao clima pesado, formado pela estética visual/sonora + inimigos que não são super fáceis de matar/ contornar + controles que não são super dinâmicos, e os gráficos potentes + o novo estilo de câmera, deu o jogo na minha opinião um ar de a modernização perfeita da própria essência dos títulos clássicos, tornando esse jogo um remake quasa perfeito, o único motivo pelo qual a nota é 9/10 e não 10/10 é que o jogo remove pequenas coisas da obra clássica, e aqui eu não digo que muda, ele corta mesmo: por exemplo as campanas B dos dois personagens são muito mais similares agr do na obra clássica. A talvez mais de uma década atrás o remake do próprio RE1, mostrou que um remake poderia ser o jogo original otimamente refeito + adições, e nisso a urgência do mercado moderno não permitiu ao RE2 remake.… Expand

    Really hate games that expect me to run past enemies instead of shooting them. Half way through the game a bunch of enemies start to appear and that annoying unkillable tyrant as well. Running like crazy, almost dying and rushing through everything is not my idea of fun. Regret buying big time. What a waste of money.

    I think this game its not for 9/10 but 5/10 because it's an old game and we live at 2019 so they must have online like story coop with 2 players and mercenaries like resident evil 5,6. A few satisfying ah-ha! moments have you unlocking a vital shortcut back to earlier areas, powering up weapons, and of course, blasting a few dozen zombies along the way is great; but the lovingly implemented improvements don't best the tedium still at this game's core.     There are some highly impressive things about this remake, like the use of volumetric lighting, the binaural sounds that should be a new standard in games, or even such small details as that amazing intro animation of a trucker eating a burger.

    However, when you get over the first two hours, and learn the level design, and the effective way of gameplay, instead of having some feeling of satisfaction from accomplishment in that genre defining constantly increasing survival horror pressure, everything becomes repetitive, boring, and slowly falling into a routine that won't change until the end of the game.    … Expand

    So, Resident Evil 2 finally has a remake and in the literal sense of the word: just like RE1 it got many new features, new weapons, sub-weapons and the layout of the RPD station has been drastically changed so that even for those like us who can remember the game step by step will be surprised with the changes.

    The game controls à la resident evil 4 and that was a great idea: RE4 was fantastic thanks to the third person perspective and the shooting was satisfying for that reason, and the fact that you can aim while walking and also enter doors without loading, it's all a nice touch.

    Most of the enemies of the series have returned with even strong zombies now. dogs, lickers, Mr x and the good old Birkin who tries to become a one punch cosplayer. Just kidding: he's more aggressive than ever and he'll be a pain to deal with.

    I could go on with how much the game has changed but I do have a lot of issues too and after finishing the game several times, both scenarios, and an S+ on hardcore (The rocket launcher is amazing!) I have to say that while the game is definitely improved, it's also a chore to deal with.

    Let's start with the zombies: they're tougher now, which is great, however, headshots do jack now! Why? In the original, the reason why you couldn't aim was that you couldn't aim! You were stuck in place and only able to aim at a 45% degree angle! It made sense if you couldn't headshot (although the shotgun "could" headshot if close enough).
    in the remake you can freely aim anywhere on the zombie but despite that your damage will be the same, head or feet or whatever, and this is sad because the zombies are MARVELOUSLY animated and they interact flawlessly with the environment: they can crawl on tables, fall from stairs, their limbs can be torn apart and more. I mean it's a tactic to basically shoot to their knees as it stuns them! However, headshots should at least do the most damage and the only way to reliably one-shot zombies is to score a critical hit. Or use the shotty/magnum

    The weird thing, however? These are the hardest enemies in the game! Lickers? Just walk past them. Dogs? 3-4 shots and they're down. Mr. X? he's so easy to dodge and you're safe in certain areas anyway! The sewer monsters? Annoying but easy to dodge once you know the pattern. Plant zombies? Tough but you don't want to kill them only stun them. Even boss fights are a joke in comparison to zombies! And yet zombies have no weak points. It's no wonder the RPD is the hardest part of the game.

    Speaking of enemies, I HATED Mr. X: he was the biggest nuisance of the entire game and I can't believe people are actually scared by him. For starters, he looks less threatening than the original version and secondly he's so easy to avoid that the only reason he'll give you pain, is when you need to do puzzles. Yeah that's it: he's annoying when you need to get puzzles done, but besides that? It's a joke really.
    What a letdown: from a legitimately scary enemy that in the original you had the anticipation and the fear of "when" he'll come to you, in the remake he's just another "stalker" enemy that stalks you too much - he can hear your gunshots - and only serves to cause annoyance. PLEASE CAPCOM DON'T DO THIS FOR NEMESIS PLEASE, MAKE HIM ACTUALLY SCARY AND NOT THIS PITIFUL EXCUSE OF A HORROR TROPE.

    And lastly, too many swear words. No, I'm not one of those don't worry but I can't say the dialogues are brilliant.
    In the original, there weren't many swearings (or any at all?) and all dialogues were about campy and corny lines delivered to make it look like a cheesy gore movie...and it worked! These lines helped lighten the mood because they were so hilariously bad it's amazing. But in the remake? You'll see so much **** that you'll get bored and feel annoyed more than anything because they take everything too seriously and it's really hard to follow. I get it, it's a remake, but the original trilogy was a campy horror game and while I don't expect the same dialogues at least make them sound less edgy! It's silly but the whole wrong reason!
    Oh and Claire looks terrible and I mean it: she looks like a cosplayer who plays the role of Claire. Leon is fine and so everyone else, especially like the new look of Ada, Ben, Annette and Irons. Thankfully you can swap some costumes.

    Overall, I recommend this game because it's very good, it's extremely well made, it's detailed and it's basically what I hoped after RE4 came: a dark, scary game with a great setting. And thanks to the remake's changes it'll be all fresh like in '98!

    PS: shame on you capcom for forcing us to buy the soundtrack for the original game! It was only 3 bucks but come on! Nickle and diming already? At least the '98 models are free...    … Expand

    Disappointing that Capcom have cut the B scenarios, there is a 2nd run that you can play with some remixed puzzles and item placement however the story is the same as your previous 1st run. Where this really causes issues is that the Leon and Claire scenarios don't compliment each other. Also the loss of the marshalling yard loses a link to RE0

Weirdly enough, certain enemies have a completely different fate depending on which story you chose - which makes no sense and feels like this aspect has either been rushed and/or not been cared about. The old games were much better in this regard, and I can't help but think that if Shinki Mikami still worked for Capcom, he would never have let such an obvious flaw come into the game.

However, there are two reasons that I deduct the points from 10 to 8

    1. Story - 1st and 2nd scenario have very little differences, and story in both Leon and Claire are not strong enough in my opinion. I think Leon and Claire should have more chances to meet with each others. Story could be more engaging, rather than just a reason for you to go to next location.

    2.The price is a little too high for the content. It took me 9 hours to beat Leon and 6.5 hours for Claire. However, for Claire, they mostly use the same locations from Leon.     Resident Evil 2 is a survival horrors game that tells the story of Leon and Clair, youre able to choose which character to play as.. Your initial playthrough of this game will take around 6 and a half hours, but much like nier automata, technically the fully game is both playthroughs combined, but also like nier automata, nah, when the credits roll, the credits roll. Youre missing only a sliver of unique sections by only playing one side of the story, you can get the rest from youtube as for the most part, each playthrough shares the same main sections and boss fights… I chose to play as rookie officer Leon Kennedy that sets out to put a stop to umbrella corp after an outbreak of a virus turns the citizens of ratcoon city into zombies, This is very much a fetch quest, explore, backtrack, save, combine, set up, and execute type of game.. one that can at first feel quite overwhelming, but once you get into the groove of things its satisfying exploring every inch of a room for key, items, and clues to safes for uprades so that youre able to carry more items in your inventory or upgrade your weapons, and the game does a great job at color coding rooms where you still have items to search for or that are completely cleaned out, so you never feel like youre running around with your head cut off…though in your way of each room are zombies, youlls spend most of your time in the first hours of this game boarding up windows, and trying to gather everything you can to survive as you inch your way through this massive police station, solving small problems that lead to a chain reaction of large problems being solved.. all while being stalked by an invincible monster, but like resident evil 7, the moment the game ventures away from the beginning section into new areas, the game starts to lose its charm and by its end becomes a bit of a chore to get through.. though the keyword here is bit, because it still manages to be enjoyable and it sways on the verge of chore, just as you begin to feel the loop of the game is getting old, its nearing its end… resident evil puts a nice bow on top and gives you the option to do it one more time for more scenarios, cutscenes, and the true ending…
    And this is where I happily walked away.
    Resident Evil 2 does a great job at being an enjoyable and terrifying experience, it doesn’t over stay its welcome, it never becomes frustrating, it never does too much of the same thing… this is a near perfectly balanced survival horror type game.. it stays true to what it was, and brings it up to todays standards so that we can all enjoy it in the way most remember it,

    I would suggest that having a few more zombies in the police station would have impressed the overall population of the infected city. Having them break through windows or rattling the doors and windows at times would have added to the atmosphere of being one of the few survivors in an infected city.

    Highly overrated but a good game. It is no chance that RE2 Remake is better than RE4, but of course that is my opinion. This game represents a decent story with interesting characters and have some great and scary moments, but the overall experience is okey. It's a kinda game we all have played before so I give it a 8/10.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You did a wonderful job Capcom. You managed to give new life to a masterpiece, and this is a rarity. As a RE and a horror videogame in general, it won everything.
    But, I have to say that making us do the same puzzles again in scenario 2, with the same boss battles and etc, wasn't a good idea. Furthermore, the story of Leon can't mix properly with the background's story. There is no point for him to fight Birkin. I'm not pleased with scenario 2 at all(and Leon's story in general), it felt like a waste of time, more like a way to extend the longevity of the game.

    If I should give a feedback, how I would have done it and what I would love to see one of these months, is one more "canon" scenario(fixed in Claire 1, Leon 2), where Leon doesn't need to do the same things Claire did. He should just be a witness of Claire's doing, with all the puzzles solved and all Birkin's battles avoided.
    You should just put the two electronic parts in the rooms exclusive to Leon, make him find the medikit that he uses on Ada(that currently is coming from nowhere)and make Leon meet Annette while she is preparing the solution to weaken Birkin(or maybe let him read one of her documents about the truth on Ada, or let her speak with him trough the speaker), without Ada being shot. Lastly, put more enemies for Leon to fight. The zapping system should return too, allowing him to access to all Claire's items stored in the box, excluding her weapons. This way there are less puzzles but a more challenging quest. The scenario is not too long, but it would be a bonus to what the game already offers.    … Expand

The game uses the same blueprint as the older titles and introduces new elements such as a 3rd person point of view (like after the 4th game) and autosave and so forth while still retaining the tactical element of the older ones such as saving your ammo and not killing every enemy in your way. As comparing to the original the story is about the same some little changes here and there and two playable character scenarios also make a return. Where the game does better than the original is the horror aspect as the generic zombies you've seen in many RE and other games are not just a simple "shoot them in the head and be done with it" no they take a lot more sometimes even a shotgun blast to the head cant kill them instantly so you have to be careful with your shots. I could go on and on about the good things of this game but as a remake this game is a little bit a hit and miss. Let's start with the music. Ok it's not bad I mean it is almost non existent throughout the game I mean there are a few good tracks such as the save room theme and Mr. X's themes but all and all the original soundtrack is much more memorable. Secondly I would like to talk about the enemy types. Well the enemies we get in this are fine. Aside from your typical undead we get mutants who spit poison which makes your characters weaker and need for anti-poisoning healing items, plant zombies or whatever they are that kill you in one hit if you don't have an defensive item on you to escape their grasp, and also zombie dogs. Comparing to the original there aren't so many enemy variations so that bothers me a little but it's a personal opinion I think they tried to make the game more realistic in tone so maybe skip the mutants spiders then, they would've been cool tho. And lastly the A and B scenarios or as in this one they are called "2nd run" which you unlock for the other character after completing the game once with a character. You've probably heard this one if you have read some reviews but yeah this was done better in the original.
    Resident Evil 2 2019 is one of the better games in the series and an excellent survival horror game no doubt about that but a few things keep it from being the best RE. The original felt more grander is scale and more full or something I don't know how to say it, but one thing is for sure Resident Evil is back on its feet and slowly stumbling towards the future of survival horror.    … Expand

    I haven't played RE2 close on 20 years now, but what amazes me is how this remake can make me feel just like I felt back then. It is so much better with the modern graphics and gameplay, way better voice acting. I don't mind Leon's new face much and I definitely like the new Claire more. I hope they'll do Nemesis next, maybe even Code Veronica.

    Rethinking the second part is the best thing that happened to the Resident Evil universe. After the failure of the 7th part, Resident Evil 2 is just a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, I was not familiar with the original, but I really liked this restart. At the moment I passed the game 2 times.
    Minuses.
    * The first minus refers to the scenario of the game - this is "excessive donation." I was already bored to watch the characters say to each other: "Leave me, go away." Somewhere it was appropriate. For example, at the moment when Leon sheltered Ada from bullets, it is appropriate here, because Leon began to lose consciousness and thought he was dying. But, unfortunately, these phrases were almost everywhere.
    *The second minus refers to a small amount of memorable music. Only two music that I remember is the song in the credits, in script B and in the room to save. Everything. Music from the original does not count.
    *Russian localization. SoftClub you are just "gods". Capcom, please do not pay these idlers and ignoramuses money for localizing the game.
    The strengths of the game!
    +Story line. For this genre of game the plot is excellent. A bunch of new stories that are either made from scratch or supplemented. Even a love scene has been added. And that's good, because the characters look alive, but you don't have to go too far.
    +Graphics and everything connected with it. Capcom simply made divine detailing of the smoldering of cigarettes, the burning of flammable liquids, sparks and pieces of meat.
    +Animation of characters and other things. Looking at the characters, sometimes you think you are watching a movie, although there are places where the animation is “lame”, but in general it is great, especially the animation of burgers. :)

Seriously, Capcom knew what to do in that aspect, but then we have the new soundtrack which is the most forgettable one I have ever heard. Nothing good, even though some people put their hearts and time to create it and I respect that. This game lacks on content to keep me hocked for more than a week. I finished both campaigns and their respective B-scenario and this weird feeling was left inside of me after finishing it. I know some DLC is in our way but they should put that content within the full game, not as a DLC. Still, I’m glad they made this game and hopefully RE3 will get the same treatment as this game.… Expand

    Still surprised on how much this game has to offer. This game gets you at the edge of your seat most of the time. Remember when 5 zombies could still not be a threat, this time I pray on not finding more than one in a room. Love the feel, love the tension. This is the resident evil that I love.

    Much like its 1998 counterpart, you play as 2 characters, Leon Kennedy and Clair Redfield. Both are trying to make it through the virus infected Raccoon city to achieve their goals. Leon is a rookie cop just trying to make his way after finding the police station he was stationed at is abandoned and Clair is looking for her brother among the chaos. The story is very simplistic and can be very cheesy at times. This works in its favor since it is a nice homage to the original. Beautiful cutscenes and decent voice acting make the story of this game better than the 1998 original.

    This is one of the best survival horror game to date thanks to its gameplay. Ditching the tank controls of the past for a free moving camera and over the shoulder aiming. The gameplay can be super intense, from managing your ammo and items, solving well-made puzzles that can be a bit easy at times, and from running away from enemies when you have nothing left. The new gameplay mechanics helps ramp up the horror aspect to an 11 and completely surpasses the original. My only complaint is that the zombie AI can be wonky at times. Getting stuck in doors or on a side of a wall. This is a minor complaint since it does not happen often. This game is a new standard for survival horror games in the future.

    The soundtrack from this game is superb. Many chilling tracks that amp up the horror that the game is trying to convey. The sound design that accompanies this soundtrack is just as chilling. This game looks amazing thanks to the realism that Capcom is able to achieve with the RE engine. Gameplay and cutscenes run at a buttery smooth 60 FPS with little to no drops in performance. The fact that this game looks good, sounds good and run flawlessly at the same time makes this game a technical marvel.

    Resident Evil 2 (2019) gets the foundation on the PS1 classic and makes a game that surpasses the original. This game is a beautiful amalgamation of everything that makes a great survival horror while honoring the original work. If you never played a RE game before, I can’t recommend this game enough as it’s a good starting point. If you have played a RE game before or even the original RE 2, this is still a must buy game.

    Very fun game, it's near Picture perfect compared to the original RE2 game. I had a blast playing it and there is no MTX here and plus there is more free dlc coming out for this game on top of an already masterpice worthy game. It's fantastic!

    De los mejores remake que e jugado hasta el momento, el trabajo hecho en la renovación del juego, el apartado gráfico y las físicas de los zombis es excelso, la verdad es que lograron renovar el juego y al mismo tiempo que conservar los factores que nos traen los recuerdos del la entrega original, una verdadera joya

    This is surely a great game and remake. However, it is a bit short. Yes, there is a 2nd run but the locations are the same and while there are variations, they are too similar. Again, it is a great remake but as a standalone game it falls short of content. The graphics are great, gameplay is fun, the story is okay.     This game really exceeds my Expectations. I love the original and this remake is even better. I love the extra content they added.playing as ada was so much fun and playing as Sherry was terrifying trying to hide from that creep. Then they gave us free DLC! Hopefully Capcom will remake others!

    As a fan of the RE franchise, this remake is a solid survival horror game. It knows what it's suppose to do with players. The feeling of panic, intensity and fear all rolled into one. However, this game is missing a few things the original had. The Zapping system, the scenario variations and boss fights. I would have loved it if CAPCOM kep these game mechanics.     "Resident Evil 2" might, at this time, be the best re-make ever made. There is really a perfect balance between nostalgia for the original and evolution to modern visuals and game mechanics. It plays and looks great but, in my opinion, never betray the original feel and tone. Though some might argue that the clunky controlls and cinematic camera angles of the original are a necessary part of the survival horror experience. Both of these aspects are dropped in this much modernized re-make and therefore combat feels much quicker and addmitedly slightly less terrifying. The ammo is however still a very limited resource and when I say that the shooting feels more action oriented I don't mean that you can let the bullets do all the thinking for you but it feels and controls really great when you do. Also what terror is lost during the shooting is made up for during the still super atmospheric exploration and puzzle solving. There is yet again a very good balance to be found here and fans of the original and newcommers alike will both have a great time playing this excellent game.… Expand

    The atmosphere of horror is overwhelming and proves that in 2019 there is a place for a Resident-like story in which the modern visuals heighten and not lessen the fear. It’s the best Resident Evil ever. [03/2019, p.40]

    Resident Evil 2 is a wonderful recreation of a believed original that, not only recaptures the glory of that game, but also improves upon it from a visual and gameplay standpoint. All in all, don’t miss out on this one.
