    Fantastic game, a brilliant remake that stays true to the original while improving and adding much to it to keep it fresh. The new over the shoulder perspective works very well and the game is a refreshing return to horror as opposed to the all action route they took with 4, 5 and 6. Thankfully all is rectified here as the game looks fantastic, feels great, is scary and keeps you on your toes and engaged at all times. Lastly I will say the game takes roughly 6 - 8 hours to beat but has great replay value as both characters have different playthroughs consisting of new puzzles,bosses,weapons and cutscenes which gives good reasons to replay. Overall a really great horror game that feels like capcom are finally back on track with the resident evil titles. Keep it up Capcom and bring on the resi 3 remake!… Expand

    A game where backtracking is prevalent, but never boring because of the constant worry of zombies you never finished off still lurking in various rooms.

    A game where mechanics are incredibly smooth and work well within the environment the player is exploring. A game where you can see accurate and believable responses by human lives during an apocalyptic state.     Thank you Capcom for bringing back a REAL Resident evil game, Thank you capcom for finally getting me to feel fear while playing a game especially on Hardcore with Tyrant around your back. Thank you capcom for giving a hardcore mode without the Autosave feature which is something that ruins your experience as a Survival. This game is just wonderful and it's like a drug, i cannot stopThank you Capcom for bringing back a REAL Resident evil game, Thank you capcom for finally getting me to feel fear while playing a game especially on Hardcore with Tyrant around your back.     This game is amazing! Exchanging tight corridors and fixed cameras for darkness and eerie audio was a wise choice . I legitimately felt afraid...mostly of Mr. X and his stomping around the mansion. Visually RE2 looks astounding, I love how the zombies fall apart depending on where you shoot them. The replay value is a little limited but the DLC might improve that minor flaw. I appreciateThis game is amazing!     You know, Resident Evil was one of those game series I avoided playing for a while because I was sick of the hype surrounding it (EVERYONE loves it, EVERYONE recommends it- it's kind of like Harry Potter where eventually you get tired of hearing about it). I played RE7 last year, and this year I decided on a whim to play this one since I liked RE7 so well and found myself interested in theYou know, Resident Evil was one of those game series I avoided playing for a while because I was sick of the hype surrounding it (EVERYONE loves it, EVERYONE recommends it- it's kind of like Harry Potter where eventually you get tired of hearing about it). I played RE7 last year, and this year I decided on a whim to play this one since I liked RE7 so well and found myself interested in the rest of the RE universe.

    And I have to say, I'm glad I did.

    This was a hell of a game. Difficult, but not head-bangingly, teeth-grindingly so; it's achievable with patience and strategic use of items and weaponry. It had good horror- I'll be seeing Mr. X in my sleep from now on, thanks Capcom- and I really enjoyed Leon and Claire. I also liked that you could play from one perspective each.

    Also, though I know this runs contrary to popular fan sentiment, I was glad they decided not to do the spiders in the sewers. That would have put me off the game (I have bad arachnophobia, and my fear is directly proportional to the size of the spider), and I was relieved to see they'd replaced it with other monsters.

    The graphics were beautiful, the music was great, and overall I just really liked this one. I sincerely hope Capcom remakes the other RE games; I've already got a few of the PS4... Re-releases? I forget the word for when they adapt a game for a new system but don't actually remake it. Anyway, I'm getting into the rest of the series now, and I'd love to see remakes and new stuff from the developers.    … Expand

The removal of the fixed camera angles and the stunning graphics makes the game feel a lot more modern and fresh. Some say that the $60 USD price tag is too much but Resident Evil games are made to be replayed and this on is no exception it has plenty of    It's skuxx.

    This is the father of remakes so far. It even surpasses the original by making use of current technology to transmit elevated horror and gameplay. (FF VII Remake, I hope you're taking notes!)

    The best Resident Evil game in the last decade, it clearly was built as an homage to the original, it is a 3rd person game but it truly is survival horror (low ammo, inventory management, puzzles and backtracking). I had a blast on the first run (I played as Leon) i would have loved the campaign to last 2-3 hours more. I also did not care for the DLCs that CAPCOM delivered even if they were for free, they were just mindless run & shoot games (and the game is not designed for that type of play, so they feel clumsy), I played them once, was not impressed and have not played them again. But stil I would really recommend this game to everyone.… Expand

    Capcom did a great job on this game. We all know that the history is "almost" the same as the preview game released for playstation, I said it that way cos they incresead some moments at the NG version.
    Residente Evil 2 is a masterpiece thanks to the new sound effects (you can switch to the original) and the new enemie, MR. X, that brings even more horror to the gameplay. You must play it.

The zombies are more difficult to kill and you can’t exploit the ol’ infinite knife anymore (at least not by default).

    In response to several of the negative reviews, I don’t understand the problems. Yes, the zombies take a ton of bullets. They’re zombies. Who cares if you used 12 bullets and it’s not dead? No, you can’t shoot from cover or exploit any stupid arena-shooter features. Go play that atrocity RE6, or the slightly-better RE5 and enjoy quicktime events and “zombies” that leer like Yakuza henchmen, do dirtbike wheelies and tote AK’s. Yes it sucks when Tyrant chases you. It’s annoying to say the least, but it’s also SCARY which is the point because you don’t know exactly where he is and he will always be stalking you during certain parts of the game. And to the purists, screw the canon. The original plots and dialogue were ridiculous to begin with. Why be offended that this awesome game’s laughable plot is only 90% consistent with the laughable plot from 20 years ago? The important thing is the fear factor. /end rant    … Expand

    For the comparison with its original version, there is unfortunately no photo (at least for the old ones), Resident Evil 2 of 1998 is a tone above thanks to a better control and an indescribable aura (monsters, scenario B, the lab, the sewers, the atmosphere, the music, the fixed camera, the pre-calculated render etc).

    Anyway, congratulations to you Capcom, it's the best Resident Evil since Shinji Mikami's departure, vivement le Remake du 3 and Code Veronica.    … Expand

    When i was young this game scared the hell out of me but now i know the whole story and with the remake and the new graphics... it still scared the hell out of me..... this is the kind of game that brought back memories and looks fantastic, thank you very much.

    This game is absolutely mind-blowing. Capcom did a really great job making this game. It really revives the old resident evil games, and makes the series get even creepier. Great character points, great lore points, and most great of all, zombie shooting. Best remake in the series so far.

    Resident Evil 2 Remake became one of my favourite games of all time. It's utterly terrific. The game is short but is almost perfect in each detail and Capcom must invest in this mechanics for now on. The soundtrack, the environment, the gameplay and the survival horror is BACK! It's definitely 10/10 game and you must play it.

    If Resident Evil 7 hasn't proved to you that the franchise still has a lot to offer in terms of horror. Than the RE2 remake definitely will. With so much replayability, and some of the best graphics and gore I've ever seen in a horror game. This truly deserves to be called best video game remake ever.

    might be one of the best horror game ever, story is so so, but horror element surprises are very good.After 1st playthrough speed run is fun to do. Puzzle are very simple and some part of game is frustrating if you dont know what to do

    I'm a huge RE fan. Been playing since RE1 came out way back when and to see what CAPCOM did to remake this game is a 10 out of 10 no question. This game has 0 issues for me. It's a true gem and GOTY contender imo.
    If you have not gotten this game thinking you've already played the original and there's nothing new here you're wrong. Pick this up and see why this game is a 10!

    Compre el juego de salida, y puedo decir que es sin dudas el mejor juego del año, y de la generación! Sin palabras Resident Evil 2 es una obra maestra en todos los apectos, y a nivel visual en gráficos y detalles está a otra nivel!

    This game is probably the best remake of all time as of now, but that does not change the fact that it is a remake. I am not a fan of survival horror where you can shoot things, I am more stressed about limited inventory space and lack of ammo than the "scary" things in the game. Less enemies and more puzzles or set pieces would probably make for a game I greatly enjoy

    It’s been a long time since I played a decent horror survival zombie game, this game actually had me on edge and mr X was an absolute nightmare and I was always hoping to not meet him! Solid game with good replay ability

    This game is so good it set a new standard for future RE games. The only nitpicks I have is the characters should be able to run faster - even for a short period of time - and turn on and off the flashlight at will. Everything else is almost perfect.

    resident evil 2 is one of those games you want to like because everyone of your friends love it. but you really cant. the way i see it, the game has 95 percent puzzles, 4 percent action and maybe 1 percent horror. if you love puzzles, this game is great. if you dont, its not for you. the only reason i dont give this game 0/10 is because the story, the few cutscenes in between are good andresident evil 2 is one of those games you want to like because everyone of your friends love it. but you really cant. the way i see it, the game has 95 percent puzzles, 4 percent action and maybe 1 percent horror. if you love puzzles, this game is great. if you dont, its not for you. the only reason i dont give this game 0/10 is because the story, the few cutscenes in between are good and the graphics are great.

    One of the best remakes of games ever made, the game brings new details to the plot giving more cohesion to events. Gameplay as well as all the dynamics and graphics of the game are accurate. Some elements of the classic game were missing. I felt that there was a lack of interaction between the protagonists.

    Very fun game! The visuals and gameplay were fantastic, and the world was very immersive. The story was fairly generic and lackluster, but I imagine it was made to be the same or similar to the original which I have not played. Prepare yourself for a scary horror experience complete with jump scares - and do not pick this game up if you are not in to that! Capcom did a great job with this,Very fun game!     Graphics are horrible on ps4 pro.
    Only thing you do is trying to get headshots.
    You will end finding solutions to puzzles online as it is so boring going trough every single peace of paper laying around. Zzzzzzzzzzz

    This is a great remake. Capcom is setting a new high standard for remakes. They perfected the spooky atmosphere. I usually don't care about visuals but the graphics are incredible, too.

    If your looking for just what the title says - your going to be very happy with this game.
    But I was expecting something that was touched upon beyond the graphics. This game is infuriating and annoying beyond what is fun. I like a good challenge to, but this just is not fun.     This would have been a solid 8 if the game was not so harsh, constantly forcing me to conserve every bullet and if I miss two shots I have to re-do large parts again, if there was not so much back tracking and if the story was more interesting. All the 10 scores out here are probably just people being nostalgic or we got a lot of fanboys out there unwilling to see the glaring issues this game has    … Expand

    Worst portrayal of Leon and Ada to date due to mediocre voice actors. Slow paced and boring padding due to inventory management back tracking to storage chests. Combat not even a patch on Dead Space or The Evil Within. Boss set pieces seen it all done before and better. Story not even original just a remake.

    The movement seriously this dated and this limited? Even original RE 1 to 5 had a 180 turn movement. Turning in this game is SO slow. Running in this game is SO slow. You know like if these people were obese geriatric asthmatics, but these are like very young fit looking people. Hell even crappy Revelation series had a immersive Alan Wake type dodge mechanic. Limited movement + bullet sponge = lazy contrived difficulty.

    What was with the jank door opening and the general awful camera issues when fighting Lickers. The environments looked visually unimpressive for the most part. Technically other than those few issues the game ran really well. With only one crash on the Claire story line.

    That tank stalker type character just isn't scary or intimidating. I found it more annoying than anything else. Again that type of character has been done better in other games.

    Well at least RE2 remake is better than Umbrella Corps and Revelations series, oh deary me. Mildly entertaining in places with my brain on auto pilot and zoned out for the most part.    … Expand

    Great game! I went back to play it after the HORRIBLE RE3 Remake. This is the amount of content we should have for $60, not a 5-hour campaign with a repeated boss fight.

    The first playthrough was great, but the Tyrant in the 2nd playthrough is just too damn annoying. The game forces you to run away and wait for him to pass about a trillion times and it gets super repetitive

    I love all of the re game including 6 and 5 with 4, 3, and re1 remake being my favorite but re2 remake is a good but disappointing game out of the main series i would place it about 0 and 6. Now lets get into why, first off i thought the game play and puzzles was really fun and after beat leons a story i was ready for more but the playing claries b and even claire a leon b it feels likeI love all of the re game including 6 and 5 with 4, 3, and re1 remake being my favorite but re2 remake is a good but disappointing game out of the main series i would place it about 0 and 6. Now lets get into why, first off i thought the game play and puzzles was really fun and after beat leons a story i was ready for more but the playing claries b and even claire a leon b it feels like they didn't even try to make the two stories make sense together. SPOILERS to start of in Claires b Annette dies before the cut scene where she runs into Leon again(now you can pretend like she just passed out but looks very much like she dead) secondly William kills Mr. X before he mutates into bigger Mr. X which is fine except for the fact he is running around chasing Leon after that point in his trench coat that doesn't have a big slash in it or anything. Thirdly it takes a couple boss fight and has them at the same place in the same way in each story first William fight he breaks the platform your on and then fall down, then as the other character he also breaks the same platform which the platform should already be broken in on which this isn't a bigger deal but after a while gets ignoring. Then they also redo this fight with a crane and William, then redo a another fight with William and this is the worst one. On Leon William jumps do Annette shows up shoots him with some sort of freeze gun and then send Leon to fight it in Claire's at the same exact place even right before Leon does it , he drops down Annette shoots him with the same thing and then Claire goes down herself. Then at the part where Claire is behind the gate and can't get into the police station from the trailer will as so as Leon leaves she comes right in 2 minutes later from that gate because apparently the key was not far away which makes no sense why they never run into each again until the end. Last complaint Mr. X now on Hardcore he is probably really hard but normal he is nothing all you got to do is run from him and he won't catch you and this only happens for a small portion of the game to the point that i don't care about him at all. Now some positives lickers are terrifying and hard just the way they was in the original, fun but easy puzzles, and fun game play. i enjoyed the upgrading guns and combing gunpowder together which is also one of the reason i liked 3. In the end if you can get past that if feels like the developers just wanted to rush the game to release it faster and not worry about stories screwing up the other its really fun but the fact that they kept saying they was going for a more canon and then its more noticeable then anything make it quite frustrating… Expand

    This game is short. Way too short and very slow. If you could run faster or non stop then you would be able to complete it in 5 hours. It doesn't last more than 10 or 11 hours if you are slow and exploring everything like me. Not worth the price. Get it cheap if you can and I would recommend Resident Evil 7 over this. It's much better.

Every enemy is very bullet spongy, because the designers clearly wanted the player to not be able to kill every enemy they come across. So very obviously they wanted players to get used to playing something like REmake 1 where you planned you route, learn to juke zombies, and speedrun as fast as you can to the finish by learning the layout. This should have been fixed camera like the classics in my opinion because the third person camera lends itself to action but the gameplay doesn't. The good thing about the action oriented RE games is that the combat in those games are fun on their own and you could play those games just for that and it would be a satisfying experience. Combat in RE2make is very not fun. You're supposed to avoid combat at all costs if you can. The meta of the game is just avoid all enemies and sprint to the finish which makes the replay value of the game very diminished after you learn how to do this. I completed the game twice on Standard, then twice on Professional, then did the 4th survivor plus Tofu Survivor before I wrote this review.… Expand

    Great graphics, 60FPS on PS4 Pro, addicting gameplay, the sound is amazing and the deluxe edition lets you switch the music to the original RE2 soundtrack!!

    Playing on PS4 Pro but I will also buy this game for PC!! You deserve every support for this masterpiece Capcom!

The police station is the best part, since traversing through its dark halls and managing the "Mr.X Factor" becomes the highlight of the entire thing. On the sewers, thngs get a bit weird, but the interconected environments makes up for it. The pacing quickly gets back up when you reach the lab and the ending is just as incredible as it was on the PS1. Everything here feels fresh and new, yet extremely faithful to the original. I love how they kept the intensity of the combat system, forcing you to always be aware of your surroundings and always hope for more bullets and health items, while having just enough to get by.
    If you played the OG, you'll get a nostalgia trip, while drowning in the many surprises and twists that the campaign throws on you.

    The gameplay is good, albeit VERY difficult. I still don't think they managed to capture the magic of the "over the shoulder camera" as well as in RE4 or RE5, but what they did here was amazing. Backtracking doesn't feel as boring as in the original and its actually a fun and fundamental part of the game. Puzzles are fine and the "AHA!" moments make you look like a genius, even if things just happened naturally. I just wish it had less puzzles. It can break the ominous mood, sometimes.

    One thing that bothered me: I'm not in love the story. It suffers from the same problem that the first Remake did. I know that RE always had that "B-Horror-Movie" feel to it and I appreciate that it does that with quality, but couldn't they just... fix this? I LOVE the characters, but the writing feels bland! Claire and Leon's interactions were better on the original because there are almost none in here. Maybe it's the fact that OG handled the differences between A & B runs better.
    Also, this game is dark. Intentionally dark, but TOO DAMN DARK!

    As for the extras, I liked them, but not all of them. The Tofu and Hunk's scnenario were fun but Ghost Survivors just felt objectivelly hard, for no reason. I feel like these modes would've worked better if they added new crowd control movesets, like in RE4. But anyway, it's more RE2 and that's great!

    This one might be the scariest game I've ever played and one of the best Remakes ever. It made me love the franchise even more. Despite a few hiccups, this is a MUST PLAY!    … Expand

    It is truly rare that a legendary game gets such a deserving complete remake that is outstanding and remarkable. From start to finish it grips you and throws you around but you keep strafing and shooting your way through the RE world. Everyone who loves zombies and gore should play this!

Not only the new engine makes the game look absolutely amazing, but everything in the game (sounds, music, dialogue, background, etc.) is carefully controlled to ensure a survival horror experience worthy of the title. Both campaigns are very well remade,Resident Evil 2 done again? Yes, and just like with the Remake of the original RE, Capcom hits it out of the park easily with this one. If you are a fan of the classic RE, this game is a must, even if by being a remake it does have some moments that feel a little dated.     Resident Evil 2 is a wonderful recreation of a believed original that, not only recaptures the glory of that game, but also improves upon it from a visual and gameplay standpoint. All in all, don’t miss out on this one.
