    Sorry for my bad English.

Nothing special. Monotonous gameplay. Сomplexity is created by the slowness of the protagonist. The plot is weak. But most annoying is the need to constantly return to old locations.

I'm really looking forward to a remake of my favorite part from the entire Resident evil 3 nemesis series. For me, it is precisely in her that the balance between adventure, horror, survival and action is best worked out. For all the time of the game where only you will not be, a bunch of parts of the city. I put 9 points to this game only because of its duration. Puzzles are a joke. The game is rated M, why are the puzzles designed for 2nd graders?
Boss fights are atrocious. They have 'weak points' that you are supposed to target, but they put the weak points on the sides of the body, so the difference between beating a boss is often based on RNG of "which side he is walking to you with exposed". If he is walking with the weak point unexposed, too bad, run around until he decides to walk with the other side leading. If he decides to keep his arm in front of his weak point, too bad.
As a massive RE fan, it pains me that I could not bear to finish the 4 campaigns of the main story because I actually hated playing the game, something I have only experienced with RE6 prior. I was even able to bear completing RE survivor and Dead Aim and I could not bear playing RE2 remake any more. Please for the love of God fix the hit detection and boss battles for RE3 remake

It is a cheap and lazy materialistic mechanic which avoids the devs of the game to actually make AI smarter. Nobody buys a game to have inconsistency and boring gameplay (I'll get onto the boring aspect later) which makes one zombie tank 15+ bullets to the head to suddenly one zombies head exploding with 1 pistol shot its beyond absurd and it ruins the flow of the gameplay.

Whilst I dislike the DA (difficulty adjustment) we must also talk about the somewhat awful controls, they have looked to put in the over the shoulder style whilst this is something I wanted they haven't implemented it effectively. Whilst the boring fanatics of the game may argue the controls being manipulated to speed run a game is necessary how can I ignore that other reputable games removing bugs and unintended things that allow people to move quicker than intended whilst Capcom leaves their game a buggy mess? All the stupid bugs and inconsistency in the game will remain just with the lacklustre AI and reliance on DA because the devs are devoid of any creativity. We're on the precipitant of pushing the barriers of gaming creativity look no further than RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077 what does RE2:Remake bring to the table? NOTHING!

Moving towards gameplay which for me is the boring aspect, the entire gameplay is on the basis of doing puzzles, speed running the game... Who is this fun to? A small handful of people, why are you targeting a game with a budget of multi-millions of dollars towards a small crowd? The actual gameplay, boss fights are absolutely piss poor! Absolutely some of the worst boss battles I have ever, EVER seen! I mean, literally what were they even thinking? All the latest technology available and we are talking about a boss battle being no different to fighting a bog standard zombie? Shoot the big glowy eye, really that is it... Such a weak set piece.

Let us also have a quick little talk about the devs being lazy with audio queues, seriously all of the different pistol types sounding the EXACT SAME!?! Are you kidding me? I will also break this into animations, when shooting the guns it doesn't really seem like you are actually firing a real gun when firing the handguns.

I will give credit where credit is due whilst RE2:Remake massively fails on gameplay, being fun, consistency and giving a true B scenario it does get the atmosphere right. The game has good nods to the original with the original soundtrack it does somewhat stay true to the original. However I'm not ending it on a positive note because this game is absolutely not GOTY, for once I must say I think Capcom rushed a title its not normally something they would do but I am sure as anything that they have done so with this. It could have been much better but it appeased a very very small portion of their audience and ruined the games replay-ability.

Leon looks so weak, awkwars and the whole game has nothing to do with the original, they forgot to play the original, no creepy music, no atmosphere, no fixed camera angles, no crows, no spiders, no badass Leon and Claire, westernized characters, cheesy voice acting plagued with unnecessary swearing, and plenty of bugs filling this broken game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

    + Fantastic remake
+ High quality production in all aspects
+ Very enjoyable with a great replay value and lots of content.
+ Probably the best zombie game ever. The zombie design, details, animations and graphics are easily the best of all time.
    - The B scenarios could have been a bit more different.

Where's all the ammo, why am I picking up ammo, but then there's only 3, when there is clearly like 10 in the picture.....why is my flashlight beam so small, why are dogs running around me about 20 times faster than I can move the cursor....There's no way these reviews are legit... this game really does suck hard from what I've played so far. I don't even want to play when you make it so difficult. Game should come with a troll warning because that's what it is.
Can I remind you of something Capcom....I GAVE YOU MONEY FOR THIS GAME. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO TROLL ME. MAKE ME PAY MORE MONEY FOR AN INFINITE WEAPON< JUST SO I CAN ACTUALLY ENJOY IT BECAUSE YOU WON'T PUT ENOUGH AMMO IN THE GAME. A Good game strikes a good balance between too muc and too little, and I'm sorry, Capcom, you ruin a game by making it so scarce, or should I say, making enemies so resistant to head shots... that's what the problem is.... the enemies take multiple headshots to subdue.....just ludicrous. You've blown it, Capcom. I'm not buying number 3, you can count on that.

You do the math. So, finding out that the Resi2 remake would be an over the shoulder affair ala RE4 I was already ready to throw my cash at this thing. Seeing the glowing reviews I just took the plunge. After all, even the worst RE game is worth getting at £15 on sale. Initially I was struck by the graphics and animations in the opening cut scene. Loved the tutorial gas station area but got eaten straight off the bat. Okay. Hard-core Mode really is that hard. I went for medium difficulty and started again. But, as I went through the early stages of the game I realised that the shooting is not the same at all. Because, the original game and many installments since have had one omnipresent joy guarenteed to make you feel ruddy bloody awesome: Aiming carefully at and blowing a reanimated corpses cranium into orbit in a shower of rouge confetti and gray matter. Glorious...

But...not in this game. In this game you unleash all your ammo into a zombie head and it means as much as shooting the body in terms of stopping it in its tracks. And a critical headshot is randomised but of such low probability you don't want to waste ALL your ammo finding out that the RNG messed you over and now you have to reload your save and go again, hoping for a different result. And, I know it's just a video game, but it's just unlikely that if zombies did exist that you would have to pump 11 bullets into it to get the kill, kill, kill. Because guys, these zombies also don't know when they're dead. They keep having naps and then waking up for another midnight snack like a Terminator with a digestive tract. Another irritant I couldn't get past was the subweapon system. The combat knife is used, handily to check if a zombie is in fact dead. You arm it and you can slash away below you to finish the napping dead off before they eat your feet. But, if you ever get grabbed by a zombie and munched on a little you can avoid this by stabbing the zombie in the neck and pushing him or her off you, leaving you space and time to make haste out of there. But, you CAN'T, I repeat CAN'T get your knife back from the dead undead, no matter how dead they are. It's simply so immersion breaking I rolled my eyes every time I had to walk away from a combat knife I could, in a version of actual reality, just put my boot next to create a post and just pull of out the zombie. Oh, well. I'll just get another knife then, I guess. Which is what you have to do. That's right. Combat knife is a consumable. Now, the atmosphere I did genuinely find quite foreboding and tense, due to the fact that you are, as it turns out, really vulnerable. There are tonnes of zombies in this game and you always feel like you're one turn around the corner from being outnumbered and having to fledtfootedly negotiate a safe pathway through lurching limbs and wandering zombie mouths. It's really scary. But, another strange emersion-breaking feature makes this tension just feel needless: laboured movement and molasses-like speed of running. You can run. Yes. But, even though your chosen protagonist is surrounded by famished creepers baying for your blood, the most Leon or Claire can do to save themselves in terms of agility is limp forward as if they have just found out there's no toilet paper in the upstairs loo and now have to get to another toilet whilst being careful not to crap their own pants with diarrhea. Again, unrealistic. If I see a spider in the bath I run out of there like Usain Bolt. But our guys just move like Robert Deniro in the Irishman: look young enough but move about 89 years old. C'mon guys. This is RE. Give me something powerful to level up the odds here. So, the playstyle you are forced to adopt here is much like someone speedrunning Dark Souls. Fake one way, go the other, whilst occasionally sacking an enemy who poses as an impasse. It's just boring to me.

So, RE4 continues to be the series highlight, I guess.

This game is must play for anyone who enjoys survival horror or over-the shoulder shooting gameplay. There is something to be enjoyed for almost everyone, unless you cannot stomach things like gore or horror obviously.

The game has massive replay value, being designed in a way that encourages multiple runs and becoming an expert at the game's mechanics and style of play. The horror starts out strong and genuine but the game deserves commendation for recognizing the point where the horror starts to drop off and the game instead embraces a hardcore action packed style. The transition is rock-solid and is key to any survival horror game that wants to emphasize this much combat.

The plethora of side-modes and challenge runs, as well as regular online challenges via RE.net is a great nod to hardcore fans that are going to stick with this game for years. RE2's Remake is proof that remakes are not always cash grabs with no merit or luster. We need more remakes like this, the only reason it is NOT a 10/10 is the pretty bad handling of the story elements. With typical wonky VA work and plot that RE is infamous for, something I expected would be fixed with a modern day remake.

Found that zombies can’t grab you if you dislocate their arm joints by shooting weak spots. Sometimes zombies will die with one single shot if you can locate their weakest arteries. Id also like to give a shout out to the gore system in this game. It reminded me of House of the Dead where you can blow individual pieces of a zombie’s flesh off. Was awesome when I blasted a shotgun at a zombie’s head. Normally it would turn it into a squished water melon, but the hit detection is so realistic that I carved the flesh around its skull. Was certain there was no way zombie could survive that but was mistaken & got mauled by that nasty ghoul.

Also gave me the incentive to replay the og ps1 RE2. They’ve come a long way even though the old one still holds up artistic & gameplay wise. The story is far more tolerable this time around due to stylized frame work & charismatic performance delivery. Each redesign also surpasses original, though the ps1 game has novel moments for its cheese factor. The only one downside is that the musical score is harder to notice. Had to tweak the volume to hear on TV. Seems like they customized audio to take advantage of speakers & headphones over TV.

Like games of PSX and Ps2 era it does not try to extend your playthrough by repetitive missions and artificial enemies increase. I prefer 5 hours of very high quality content than 50 hours of mediocre open world game. I will return to this game probably every year from now like I do with RE4. For me its instant classic.

I expected no less than Resident Evil remake level of polish and production and this absolutely delivered it. It looks stunning, the new 3rd person perspective works fine, levels, battles and puzzles were cleverly redesigned, it's more tense, supporting characters were better developed...so many changes (for the better), but at same time it's feels very true to the original RE2 game.I expected no less than Resident Evil remake level of polish and production and this absolutely delivered it. Each character campaign last about 6-7 hours. Some may say it's too short, but I'd rather have a short but amazing experience that keeps me coming back, than play something that drags on for 20 hours or so and never look back to it again.

I have just a single complain about that Tyrant (Mr. X) that keeps chasing you for a great portion of the game. I know he's there to build tension and it works well at first, but starts to get annoying when you're trying to concentrate on a puzzle solving or exploring the environment and then this f* comes and forces you to run and abort everything you're doing. It doesn't really damage the game and you get used to it, but I can't help feeling annoyed by his constant presence.

Apart from that, it's the masterpiece Resident Evil fans were waiting for and one of the best games of this generation. Can't wait for RE3 e Code Veronica remakes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Take an absolute classic game from the PSone era, and infuse it with today's tech while keeping the rest pretty much the same, and you've got a legendary release on your hands. This game is quite impressive from a technical standpoint and the team did a fantastic job of bringing the old settings to life in the time of full 3d. Just like the original, the atmosphere is chilling and supplies are scarce. Zombies once again pose a threat. Dark hallways are terrifying with the excellent HDR lighting.

Small tweaks to the story flesh out the original tale but I like how they kept things as close to the original as possible with a just few new additions and areas to explore. Updating MIster X to an unrelenting threat also is a plus as it ratchets up the tension to the max.

However, if I had one gripe with this game, it's basically that there is no way to incapacitate Mr X completely. I think they could have made like a little puzzle where you set a trap for him and he's out until the next scripted event where he appears. Or if you choose the option of using exorbitant amounts of precious ammo to take him down maybe he could stay down until you get to the next area. It's a good trade off letting you decide how to play. Run and save ammo, or take him down for a while. They could've have just shown a little cut scene of him getting back up like in the original game, setting up the next sequence where he appears to make you poop your pants again. I think it's a great concept but it gets annoying when he constantly interferes with puzzle solving. It's less of an issue on a second play-through since you should be familiar with the map by then. It also barely makes sense that he doesn't chase you into certain rooms even though he clearly sees you enter them, like storage rooms.

Honestly, this remake has exceeded my expectations in every way despite that minor flaw. It goes to show how old becomes new again. The design of this game was solid enough back when it came out to earn legendary PSone status. A fresh coat of paint shows why the original was so good, and with many QOL additions (like a map that updates as you go along), this game makes it hard to deny its excellence. Also, no bugs or glitches so far and a ton of extra modes to play through.

This may even be the game of the year, no joke. I actually hated RE7 and never even finished it, so I had my worries about this game. There is no real reason not to play this as it's one of the best out this year. Unless of course you scare easily.

It may have taken almost a decade to arrive, but I'm glad they took their time. This game is amazing!

First and foremost, the graphics are spectacular. Utilizing the full power of the current gen consoles, this game runs so smooth. The level of detail in the environments, especially the police station, really make it so you want to take your time as you explore that death trap. I also found myself taking aim at the various creatures in defense but waiting to pull the trigger because I was amazed at the realism of their animations. When you play, notice how fluid the zombies move and take note at how their mouths move with every terrifying groan. It's amazing. Just don't stare too long or you'll end up with a high death count by the game's end.

This game is a true re-imaging of the original. Without going in to any detail, they have taken the most significant parts of Leon and Claire's original story, tweaked a few details, and produced a streamlined experience that will feel familiar and different at the same time. It's great knowing that while they didn't stray too far from the story and game-play of the original, it's just different enough that you don't feel like you're playing the exact same game 20 years later. They did a great job with the remake of the first Resident Evil and kept that same thought process with this game.

This game almost got a 9 due to the length of the campaigns. I have only finished the main scenario of one character and was shocked by the completion time. I finished the campaign in under 10 hours which was a bit disappointing when you think of other games that have main stories that take anywhere from 15-20 hours to finish. The score went back to a 10 when I rationalized that the replayability of this game is massive. Each character has their own main campaign that may take roughly 10 hours to complete, plus each have a "2nd Run" campaign which will show you what Character B was doing while you were playing the main campaign for Character A. If those side scenarios take even half the time of the main campaigns to beat you are looking at a 30 hour experience, at least. And there's a good chance you didn't find everything during your first play-through, so chances are you will tackle the campaigns again in short order.

Resident Evil has been my favorite video game series since its debut. These remakes have definitely revitalized my interest after a few missteps with the previous titles. Capcom scored a home run with this game in my opinion. Now is the time to begin the petition for an RE3 and Resident Evil Outbreak remake. If RE2 turned out this great I can't wait to see what they will have in store with future Resident Evil remakes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok. Let me take you back to my memory lane of how it begun my love with this franchise....
Ironically it was with RE2 for the ps1 back on 1998 and after putting the disk in my old ps1 everything in my life changed.
I was in love with this game, i was so much in love and obsessed that i beat it after the first day of having it. It was/is a masterpiece and then it begun my research of the franchise....
I backtracked playing RE1 which aside of having worst graphics i still loved the game so much and felt even more terrifing that RE2 being in the old decrepit Spencer Mansion.
Then i played RE3:N and loved it so much all the new little things they added to it and still felt like a survival horror game done right. Nemesis was freaking awesome. Following you everywhere you went. Making feeling you NOT SAFE ANYWHERE. Another masterpiece.
Then i bought the Sega Dreamcast specifically to play RE:CV which i loved to the death (one of my favorites).
Then it came RE0 & Remake for the gamecube (which Re: Remake for me is the best Remake of all time) and i was jumping with joy of how well done both games where made.
And then came RE4. Which it was a very good game but it wasn`t a "classic RE", It was more action oriented and didn`t even had one jump scare or dread sensation in the entire game. Yes is a masterpiece but IS NOT A CLASSIC RESIDENT EVIL in all the sense of the word.
Then i bought my 360 (The Resident Evil 5 Bundle), and it was not only more of the same (regarding of RE4) but worst in a lot of points.
Then i played Resident Evil Revelations in my 3DS and loved the new direction they took the franchise but it still felt halfway through of what i wanted to expect from it or putting it simply in words what i wanted from a survival horror using the new camera and game mechanics. Still good but with a lot of room for improvements.
Then it came RE6 and OH MY GOD......What my beloved Capcom did to my franchise !? I was so angry, mad and i felt even more sad knowing that this game was still better than RE5 in a lot of ways.
That was the point when me (as a franchise fan) gave up on Capcom & Resident Evil. I felt so dissapointed by them that i knew the franchise was dead (at least at that time and for me).
Then it came RE: Revelations 2 which is fun, more horror but still had a lot of action and i felt it was not better than Revelations 1 but worst in almost every aspects. So i was like a drifter or hobo looking for shelter for my survival horror needs in other franchises that brought me joy but weren`t near in my heart as Resident Evil was. So i played my Dead Spaces, Fatal Frames, Silent Hills, etc.
Then i read that Capcom was making RE7 coming back to "the roots of horror again" so with the little hope i had left in my poor broken heart (blame that to Capcom & all RE games after Code Veronica) i bought and played Resident Evil 7 in my PS4. Loved the game, didn`t liked so much the first person view, i`m mora a third person fan but still a good game......BUT IT WAS NOT RESIDENTE EVIL in all the sense that word means. It had nothing to do with the main story/lore of the saga but still i felt that Capcom were trying to come back to the roots of what a true resident evil game should be.
And here we are now. You, me and my words after finishing my full playthrough of Leon(1) & Claire(2) and all i can say is this.....
    THANK YOU SO MUCH CAPCOM.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LISTEN TO YOUR FANS.
AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LOVE THAT YOU PUT IN THIS GAME.
Still not perfect, i had some issues with it. Mainly with Ada playthought. SPOILERS: I hated that Scan Gun and everything that came with it. It cuts the pace of the entire game and it feels out of place in a story that is in 1998.
Aside of that minor concern everything else i perfect and how i dreamed (for years) of how it should be.
Now if there anyone from Capcom reading this, this is something i want to share with you of how i think you (Capcom) in general should approach the future games of the franchise:
    1. Now that the engine (RE: Engine) is done and some assests of RE2: Remake will be used again in the remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis meka sure the game has the same felling that this Remake had.
    2. Then proceed with the same treatment to Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
    3. Then proceed with the same treatment to Resident Evil 0.
    4. Then proceed with the same treatment to Resident Evil 1 Remake.
    5. And then if you have the resorces and time Proceed with RE4, 5 & 6 but make them more survival horror than action and also redo all the story making it more coherent with the events of the previous games.
That is all, i hope you enjoyed the game as much a i did and can`t wait to pre-order Resdient Evil 3: Nemesis Remake !!!!
    AGAIN......
    THANK YOU CAPCOM !!!
I LOVE YOU......WITH ALL MY HEART & I MEAN IT.

    Punkte: 92/100

    Pro:

Much of Resident Evil 2’s milieu is created with the benefit of modern technology, of course, with the RE engine flexing its muscle in lighting and detail and binaural audio creating a genuinely spine-chilling soundscape of shuffling footsteps and inhuman shrieks. But key to it is that somewhat lost art of crafting a small, detailed and believably joined-up setting.

Resident Evil has made a triumphant return. This is easily the best game in the series since RE4, and in many ways it even outshines that gem. This is easily the best game in the series since RE4, and in many ways it even outshines that gem. I was perfectly satisfied with RE7 as well and would've been okay with them going in the VR direction again. This game is a great tribute to the original though. Many nostalgic features included with some modern enhancements to make it a fresh experience. I would say the RE2 Remake is almost perfect in every way. Capcom is really on the ball this year between this and DMC5.
The graphics are incredible, far better than any RE game before this and some of the best in any game period. The music and sound effects are also top-notch, truly eerie and horrifying. The audio component adds a whole new layer to the horror elements. This game has actually managed to scare me quite a few times. I would put it right up there with Silent Hill in terms of atmospheric creepiness. They definitely ditched the action-oriented gameplay style of RE5 and RE6 for something that truly feels like "survival horror" again.
The combat is much more reminiscent of the older RE games. It's no longer a cover shooter but there is still some of the tactical weaponry from the newer entries. I think this is a great way of blending the two styles in a very fitting approach to combat. Many of the series' staples are still used such as typewriters, herbs, item boxes, keys, etc. It also goes back to the more puzzle-like nature of the original RE games.
The enemies are truly hideous in a glorious way. Such high levels of detail applied to almost every enemy character model. Lickers and dogs are more terrifying than ever before. Zombies behave more like the zombies from the classic RE games. I always thought the newer entries were ridiculous for having zombies that can use guns.
One of my only real complaints is against the amount of RNG based damage that zombies seem to have. Sometimes I can blow a zombie's head off in one shot, but other times they can take ten bullets to the head before going down permanently. This seems completely unbalanced and can be truly frustrating on Hardcore mode when your ammo is already scarce. I also sometimes don't like the character movements. They don't seem to run fast enough at times which ends up getting me screwed over in a boss fight. It would've also been nice to at least have the ability to roll or something, which could've easily been mapped to the circle button. This would've been a great way to expand the combat options, instead we just get the old-fashioned 180 spin turn. Another grievance, although this is completely superficial, is that Claire's character model... isn't quite as attractive as some of the more recent games like Revelations. This is a matter of personal taste, but I find her face to be kind of awkwardly designed.
Overall this is a fantastic entry to the franchise. Resident Evil has almost never been better. This remake certainly falls in line with the remakes of RE1 and Zero in terms of quality. Now we'll just have to wait and see if we can get an awesome version of RE3 as icing on the cake.
P.S. I see some people review bombing the game for "blasphemy" LOL, you're playing a game like Resident Evil and expect to not hear any blasphemy? People cry about anything nowadays.

Resident Evil 2 Remake is everything I was hoping it could be and so much more. It elevates the RE2 experience in every possible way and delivers a tense survival horror game with tight gameplay that feels modern and fresh while remaining sufficiently faithful to the original. This is a must play for all Resident Evil fans.

Remakes and re-releases are all the jazz this day and age, but rarely are they worth you shelling out a full $60 for it. Resident Evil 2 is a shinning exception in the remake world. Capcom took a game many missed out on, and some remember fondly and made a game that functions like a modern game without losing the spirit of the original series.

The story is split up to follow two different character that are going for very similar goals. You can play as either Leon Kennedy the boyband lead singer of Raccoon City or Claire Redfield the little sister to everyone’s favorite boulder punching zombie killer. The stories are similar, but not the exact same so it’ll be favorable to play both and get a feel on who you enjoy playing as more. I played Leon’s story and honestly there isn’t much to it in the cut scene realm of things. Most of the story is told through these documents you pick up and are supposed to read. I personally wouldn’t recommend this game for story but the gameplay.

The gameplay is fantastic… mainly in the beginning. The first part of the game is suspenseful and the zombie killing is very satisfying. My first encounter with a Licker was intense with how they move and will jump at you. The resource management has been made way easy due to the map telling you rooms you need to get stuff and unlimited saving. That being said; I learned early on to not and try and kill every zombie in the game because you will run low on bullets when they count. The game loses me when they introduce Mr. X. He is a unkillable hulking dude in a trench coat who just chases you everywhere in the game. The first two times he appeared it was nerve racking. After that it was tedious, and it turned into a game of tag basically while I tried to solve the puzzles. I lost a lot of enjoyment from the game the moment he was introduced because it was just annoying running away every time he got near. My personal favorite part of the game is how the zombies take damage. You can blow off limbs or when you shoot them in the head the entrance hole is just there. This is a minor thing that I got a major kick out of.

Overall the game is a great horror game that unfortunately lost me with the game of chase. It looks beautiful and the new combat is my favorite the series has ever done. Is it scary? No. Does it has suspense? Hell Yes. I am very mixed on this only because I hated the Mr. X stuff so much but loved the parts without him. I give this game a Full Price still. I think people need to check it out because despite the issue I have I have to admit it is a very solid game.

Remake - this game is literally the original if it was made in 2019, which means really good graphics, much better voice acting, pacing, gameplay, sound design and so on. But the same good story with tweaks of course. RE2 remake is able to capture the essence of RE2 and translate it to new players and old ones in a new format, this is how a remake should be done.

Story - While nothing too grand, the contained story gives a great sense of satisfaction the longer the game goes on, as you find more information and meet new enemies, you become more excited for the future parts to uncover what is behind the outbreak while dreading it at the same time

Gameplay - the movement, the handling of guns, the footsteps of Mr. X, the use of light (and lack there of), resources, puzzles and the constant threat of zombies coming back to life never become annoying, all of the things combined stress you out, make you paranoid and makes you scared of running and forces you to slow walk as you prepare for incoming doom. It all fits in so well with each other, immersing the player inside of the world.

Sound design - the footsteps and the screeches, the guns and grenades, all of it with perfect sound design behind them, again immersing the player.

Voice acting - all of the voice acting if phenomenal, especially the young version of Leon, where he doesn't sound like an already worn out soldier, just a young enthusiastic boy

It is rare for a game to transcend all hype into sheer gaming bliss. I am a RE fanboy and to keep my rant here tight and concise, this is gaming perfection in my mind. Mr. X is sheer terror incarnate, the puzzles are streamlined with a delicate balance of old school inventory management, limited ammo, speed running capabilities, tension/survival horror, and added story beats. The remake damn near made me cry at certain points with its updated and emotional portrayal of the chaos. Adding a more profound emotional impact of everything that is happening to Claire, Leon and other survivors during the city collapse only make the fears of every encounter all that more freighting.

I have beaten it twice since its release and plan to play even more over the next 20 years. Indeed a classic and early GOTY contender.

Finally, the old style resident evil. I was really thrilled when i saw the trailer and now that I've played it I can say that they did a great job with this remake. They managed to keep the constant feeling of anxiety and adapt the game to the modern play style without losing the atmosphere, the background noises are something wonderful. Definitely a must play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is quintessential Resident Evil and does the original justice.

Gameplay is everything fans have been asking for with enough tweaks to make the game feel like a new experience. Zombie limbs can be shot off, Lickers are terrifying again, and Mr. X has a more imposing presence than the original. Zombie mechanics have been overhauled, and they are more dangerous than they've ever been before.

The return of defense items and gun powder are welcome additions to the game. With Gun Powder first being present in Resident Evil 3, and defense items making their debut in Resident Evil Remake. Their inclusion pays homage to a time where these two concepts were groundbreaking on their own.

In stark contrast of the more action-oriented entries in the series, gameplay feels claustrophobic and terrifying. Ammo scarcity brings back the feeling of classic horror. Puzzles retain characteristics of their origins back in 1998, but are different enough that players of the original will not be able to breeze through unchallenged.

All in all, a masterpiece of a game. But more importantly, a reminder that CAPCOM has not forgotten its roots.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Resident Evil 2 is the remake fans of the game and series have been looking for. There is so much that is done right with this iteration of RE2. Lighting and the OTS perspective add an eerie dimension to once familiar haunting grounds. New players and old will be thrilled and chilled with the additions to the game.

The classic modes, such as 2nd scenarios, The 4th Survivor, and The Tofu Survivor are still there. New unlockables are available, too, such as art, models, and some nice secrets for hardcore (not necessarily the hardcore mode) players. And Capcom is planning on adding Ghost Survivors for free on February 15th, which will add another mode to the game, so this game is just packed to the gills with content without any of them feeling bloated.

Much of the game has been cleaned up to reduce the amount of drag in the game. As well as this, the survival horror aspects of the first 3 games are brought back in a wonderful. You're encouraged to not waste bullets on every zombie, though a skilled player can still take down every enemy with no real issues. Many of the set piece fights are changed up to keep players on their toes, including old RE2 players familiar with every aspect of the original game. What's also nice is that the story is allowed to unravel a little less rigidly. You're given no pretext about Umbrella until later in the game.

This game really sets a high mark for game remakes, and I hope that Capcom will at least follow up with RE3: Nemesis, which is also due for an overhaul for modern generations.

    An excellent remake

It makes enough changes to keep things fresh while still feeling very faithful to the original, and the shift to the more action oriented over the shoulder view doesn't make things any less tense or difficult as ammo management and avoiding unnecessary fights are still very much needed for survival. As cliche as it is to say, I honestly think this is a game that both
