    An excellent reimagining of Resident Evil 2. If there is one game you should play for PS4, it's this one. Like Zelda, but with guns & zombies. I wouldn't quite classify it as a straight up remake though, but it's very close.

    Lack of zapping system in remake which cause missing the B scenario in the original edition. The map of the lab can be better. However these flaws won't affect that I will give this game a 10 out of 10.

    I have never played any resident evil game prior to this one and this was one hell of an introduction. No hand holding, excellent pacing and the first game to actually scare me. One of the few remakes that's actually good if not better than the original. 10/10

    Excellent game, one of the best of the Resident Evil series. They managed to make this remake enjoyable for both new players and fans of the original. The small tweaks on the story and gameplay were perfectly executed. It's a game where you just want to play it several times.

    Resident Evil 2 remake is amazing and fantastic. Incredible renewal to original with 1998. And plot was amazing and interesting sometimes, so I recommened this game to everyone.

    I still remember, the day I got a copy of RE2 on pc I happen to get home and family was out for the rest of the afternoon. You wont believe the jump scares I got from it. Specially on the first time the zombie dog jump through the window on the hallway. I loved the puzzles, and the atmosphere created by the sounds of your steps, made you feel you were in danger at every second. What capcom did to bring basically remake this game with the same story and settings but throw in current engine was nothing short but amazing.     It feels like this game was made for me, its not going to be everyone's cup of tea but this is a great introduction to survival horror if you have yet to jump in.

    Story is simple and thank god for that, no great morels beside helping people and zombies/umbrella = bad. This is Resident Evil, story comes second or not at all.

    Characters like the story are simple but receive just enough developmental to feel more then one dimensional Resident Evil characters. Its also fun seeing baby face Leon and Clair who are just great as the protagonists.

    No Ludonarrative Dissonance here, I find it very distracting when the story and game play tones thematically don't match. RE2 pulls this off with the threat feeling real in both cut scenes and in game. Its a small thing but your character model becomes more damaged as the game goes on, really helps to connect the cut scenes and game play.

    Mr X is awesome

    Very repayable, first time you a just making it through by the skim of your teeth, 2nd you are much more confident and can get through with a lot more ease and 3rd, 4th and 5th times you are going for speed runs for unlocks but you never disrespect the common zombie because they are always a threat.

    The different scenarios are fun and have enough different item locations to feel fresh

    The Bad:
    I do find it odd that Leon and Clair's scenarios don't cross over at all, this was a feature of the original but is completely absent here. A missed opportunity.

    One exception to the Ludonarrative Dissonance rule is that the main characters can take a few bites in game but in cut scenes one bite a death sentence, oops.

    Conclusion:
    Resident Evil fans have had to put up with some BS in the past but with RE2 remake and the great RE7 a few years back RE is back and Capcom is on a winning streak. I personally cannot wait for RE8, might just be the only reason I buy a PS5......

    I would be hard-pressed to find a more enjoyable survival horror game in recent memory than the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I personally don't have any sort of nostalgic attachment for the original game, but I do have a tremendous amount of respect for it. Considering how great RE7 turned out, I was more than eager to want to give this game a shot, and man oh man this game just blew it out ofI would be hard-pressed to find a more enjoyable survival horror game in recent memory than the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I personally don't have any sort of nostalgic attachment for the original game, but I do have a tremendous amount of respect for it. Considering how great RE7 turned out, I was more than eager to want to give this game a shot, and man oh man this game just blew it out of the water. At this point in time, RE2R is now my favorite game in the series.

    The story follows much of the same beats as the original RE2, but with a retooled script and additions thrown in to help add to the experience, all the while retaining the personalities and quirks of the characters. Leon is still a loveable dork, Claire is still caring and badass, and Ada is still a mysterious fem fatal. All these characters are voiced incredibly well and are some of the best performances in the series so far. While the situations themselves are still incredibly serious, there's still a level of classic RE camp to help alleviate some of the more dramatic moments, while not feeling to out of place. There are even some genuine emotional moments that personally got to me like with Kendo the gun shop owner. However, I do feel that they could have done a bit more to flesh out Leon and Claire's friendship as they very rarely have any interactions with each other, and very quickly they start to act buddy-buddy with one another. If you are a fan of the original than you may be disappointed to know that the scenario system from the original doesn't work the way it used to. You can still choose Claire A/Leon B and vice versa, but the changes to the layout and item placement from the original is no longer present.

    Honestly, though, that's really it as far as the negatives I have with the game, because everything else about it is just so damn good. If you've played Resident Evil Revelations 2, you'll be familiar with how this game controls. Movement feels just right, the gunplay is tricky, but satisfying to pull off. Ammo is limited early on and the zombies do not go down easy, making them a real threat in this game. The game carries over the traditional item management of the classics, having you choose between important key items, additional ammo or healing items. Knowing the layout of your surroundings is important for you to fully manage your inventory and knowing which paths to take and which zombies to kill or run past. It's survival horror gameplay at its finest. That's not even getting into the horror that is Mr. X. This lumbering brick wall will stalk you everywhere you go. Unless you are in a safe room or are extremely quiet, he will find you and lay the smackdown. It's one of the most intense gameplay elements I have experienced in some time. All of this is backed up by pitch perfect sound design. Everything from the moans of the zombies, to the pounding footsteps of Mr. X, and the well-placed musical cues. The soundtrack for this game overall is great, but a really cool thing that you can do is add the original RE2 98 soundtrack to this game and it fits just as perfectly (though its a shame it's locked behind a paywall).

    If you are even remotely interested in horror games, you need to play this game point blank period. It's not simply one of the best games series has to offer, it's one of the best in its class.    … Expand

    Superb zombie slaying redone in gorgeous modern presentation. It doesn’t tread the classic RE2 path verbatim but the modern quality of life improvements really help bring the game into a modern era where fans of the original, and newbies alike can all enjoy. A must have for any Zombie fan!

    Finished story with Leon, then finished 2nd run with Claire and i'm still not enough of these game. Now playing extras.. Beatuiful graphis, brilliant puzzles, challenging enemies, these game has everything it needs.

    Intense, thrilling and fun story although with some puzzlingly stupid details (some character dress, some lines of the plot...).

    What else can u say. More games need to look at this game on how a remaster should be dine because god damn this was the best remaster I ever played and that's on FONEM. Graphics great, gameplay great, sound great, monster's great. Everything about this game is mind-blowing.

    This game is almost perfect. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did but when I started playing I couldn't put it down and ended up getting the Platinum trophy in about 4 weeks. The story is engaging and the graphics on the RE engine are some of the best available on the PS4. But where RE games shine is their gameplay and this one is no different. The environment design is great. The sound design is absolutely oppressive as background noises continually play in most of the areas to keep you from ever feeling safe (except in the Safe Rooms). If you want to play for the story and just run through the game, the Assisted or Normal modes allow for that while the Hardcore mode brings an extra challenge without being insanely difficult.

    The only complaint I have is just how hard the "No Way Out" scenario is in the Ghost Survivor's DLC. It is the only trophy I haven't been able to get but thankfully it's separated from the main game trophies so if you're a trophy hunter you don't have to worry about that. I also wish there was more DLC like there was for RE7.    … Expand

    I have RE2 remake a perfect 10 because I don’t know how it could be improved. Gone are the cumbersome tank controls. With more than a new coat of paint, RE2 was remade from the ground-up but retains everything that made the original great. They managed to capture genuine terror as you progress through the game. True “survival horror” makes a triumphant return in this one.

    Resident evil as I always wanted it. There are a lot of puzzles, the doors opening and closing without loading is really the turning point, although it was an implementation that was already present in 4. I enjoyed playing with it.It remains one of my favorite video games, I expected to see the same quality in 3 too, unfortunately it wasn't like that. Why not turn RE 7 into this kind of game?

    Changes to the game were very noticeable and very welcome for me: OTS view, updated graphics, new and expanded areas... The puzzles changed up a bit and that was nice as it gave a returning fan a new experience. Had a blast playing through, multiple times, and in the extra modes as    I played the original on PC when it first came out so when this was released it was a must-play for me.

The remake has amazing graphics, lovable characters, fun weapons to use, & the Ghost survivor stories are great & they give a reasonable challenge for Die-Hard RE Fans & New RE players (like me). Amazing acting & voicing by the main cast by Nick Apostolides (Leon), Stephanie Pansibello (Claire), & Jolene Anderson (Ada).

    The individual stories between Leon and Claire show enough charm & charisma that it made me cry. In Leon's Story, he's a rookie cop who just earned his promotion not long ago and he sees such horrific things that he realizes that his future working as a RPD cop by solving crimes & arresting criminals won't be in his future after he sees that everyone around him turns into zombies. Before Leon escapes the station, he's encountered by FBI Agent Ada Wong where they find a reporter named Ben who has been imprisoned by Chief Irons for investigating Umbrella Corp. When the two enter the sewers, Ada & Leon try to find the suspect responsible for the Raccoon City Outbreak, Annette Birkin. When Annette tries to escape she tries to shoot Ada but Leon sacrifices himself and passes out. Ada tries to pursue Annette but she falls into a trash compactor and is also injured. Leon saves her & the two ride a cable car to NEST to secure a sample of the G-Virus but Leon fights a more dangerous William. After defeating William once again, Annette tells Leon that Ada isn't an FBI agent, that she's a mercenary. Leon tells Ada about what happened, then she confronts to Leon that she's a mercenary. When the two refuse to shoot one another, Annette shoots Ada where she falls off a bridge where Ada falls to her death. Finally, Leon almost escapes the lab where he is ambushed by the Tyrant where it transforms into a Super Tyrant during his final escape of this nightmare. Ada survives the fall and she helps Leon one more time by tossing a rocket launcher, where he kills the Tyrant & escapes on an evacuating train.

    Claire's story is an emotional fest all around. At the start of Claire's story, she's a lonely college student with barely any friends (no offense at all), her parents die at a young age which results in Claire being an orphan, & her brother Chris was the only person taking care of her. When she gets separated from Leon (whichever scenario you do), Claire gets lonely again. After escaping the RPD station, Claire meets a little girl named Sherry all alone hiding from a destructive monster. Next, when the girls try to escape the station, they encounter Chief Irons where he threatens to kill Claire if Sherry doesn't come with him. When Irons abducts Sherry, she gets lonely again but we see that Claire has feelings for Sherry. After escaping the orphanage, Claire meets up with Sherry's mother Annette, where she tells Claire everything that caused the outbreak in the first place. Claire finds Sherry but Annette tells Claire that her daughter has been infected & can't be saved. When their conversation ends, we get to see a deeper relationship between the girls because Claire tells Sherry that she cares for her. After receiving the vaccine, Annette is attacked and fatally injured by her monstrous husband where Claire ends up defeating the monster again. Before leaving NEST, Claire finds that Annette is slow dying vaccinating her daughter & with no time to be saved, Sherry mourns a goodbye to her mother. The Girls rush out of the facility as quickly as possible, where once again William appears bigger and is defeated again & they leave.

    Finally, Leon, Claire, & Sherry reunite where the 5th and final time William is there. This time he transform into a wall of flesh and fangs eating the back of the evacuating train. Claire and Leon almost get killed but they manage to uncouple William's tram and he finally dies. As the Three Survivors escape, they continue their fight to Umbrella where they live a weird happily ever after.

    Abschließend brauche ich eigentlich nur noch zu sagen, ein muss für jeden Horror- und Resident Evil Fan und Chapeau Capcom für ein derart gelungenes Remake!

In Resident Evil 2 you play as Leon S Kennedy and Claire Redfield in Raccoon City in the middle of a zombie outbreak and that’s about it, and your trying to figure out what is happening to everyone to escape Raccoon City. I think that this game is a joy to play. I haven’t played a game that has made me so feel so scared and alone in myResident Evil 2: Well that was a very unexpected game. But Mr.X has to be one of the best gameplay mechanics I’ve ever seen, the foot steps you hear as your exploring makes me stop dead in my tracks and makes me horrified to move. The jumpscares in the game when not intentional make the experience so much better.     Shooting mechanic is great, story decent, voice acting great, setting wonderful, enemy type and boss well executed. Overall a great journey with this game even thou I never think I can play this kind of game but turns out I become addicted to RE2 Remake.    … Expand

    A perfect remake and also a rethinking of the legendary re 2 from 1998, this game brings back that same feeling of fear and tension from resident evil, the perfect atmosphere for horror, good visuals and graphics, well optimized game, 4 different companies and medium difficulty, this is an example of what capcom still can!

It completely changed the original with the camera angle system and old school combat system yet still managed to make it even more scary.     For me simply one of the best games of the last decade. Playing it on the hardest mode is just what a Game, playing in a Zombie Apocalypse, should feel like. You think twice what kinda equipment you carry and what move you make next, because everything is deadly. In my honest opinion: this game is just perfect. Played through it a couple of times. Love it every time I do.
    The chances of ruining a remake and therefore pulling the original title with it into the abyss of disappointment are always pretty high. Especially if you change a game so drastically in turns of perspective like this one. From the original locked camera game with is almost non dynamic but more tactical approach, to a third person shooter, what makes a game insanely more dynamic just by that change. And with that change of perspective it is easy to induce too much action into it. (Resident evil 4 Is a good example here, because of the third person perspective and the fast shooting, loading and aiming, the action factor is pretty high.) To not loose the connection to the original tactical feeling is the art. But they mastered this links between old and new perfectly. It really feels like the original resident evil 2 in third person.
