    Gameplay is everything fans have been asking for with enough tweaks to make the game feel like a new experience. Zombie limbs can be shot off, Lickers are terrifying again, and Mr. X has a more imposing presence than the original. Zombie mechanics have been overhauled, and they are more dangerous than they've ever been before.

    The return of defense items and gun powder are welcome additions to the game. With Gun Powder first being present in Resident Evil 3, and defense items making their debut in Resident Evil Remake. Their inclusion pays homage to a time where these two concepts were groundbreaking on their own.

    In stark contrast of the more action-oriented entries in the series, gameplay feels claustrophobic and terrifying. Ammo scarcity brings back the feeling of classic horror. Puzzles retain characteristics of their origins back in 1998, but are different enough that players of the original will not be able to breeze through unchallenged.

    All in all, a masterpiece of a game. But more importantly, a reminder that CAPCOM has not forgotten its roots.    … Expand

    I consider this as one of the best remake game ever. With the realistic graphics and an amazing yet scary atmosphere, they really did a great job in remaking this game. Kudos to creators and the company.

    An absolute amazing remake and a must play for survival horror fans.
    I loved the atmosphere, story, and puzzles, and Capcom has done a great job on remaking every piece of the 1998 classic while also keeping it fresh for the long time fans.

I remember playing the first RE on the original Playstation - that first zombie encounter in the mansion is an experience I'll never forget. Since then have managed to play every single RE in the franchise. RE2 was my absolutely favorite of the whole series not just because of the gameplay but also the story/lore behind it and howCreated an account just to leave a review for this game. The lickers being dangerously scary to encounter. Hats of to CAPCOM and the creators of this masterpiece for sticking to the original theme and still giving us a powerful gaming experience. This is hands down the best nostalgia experience I've had in gaming in a long time and I can't wait to sink in 100's of more hours fully exploring the depths of what this game offers.     Es sencillamente una obra maestra reimaginada a la actual generación. No hay mucho más que decir, si te gustan los Resident Evil de la vieja escuela, este es el tuyo sin dudarlo, porque tiene todo lo mejor de los de PSX pero elevando cada elemento hasta hacerlo casi perfecto.

    Capcom has hit it straight out of the park. I grew up with the original in 1998 and it's one of my favourite games of all time. This game is a terrifying re-imagining of the original and worth every penny. Slight story and location tweaks have really made this a fresh new experience!!

    RE3 Now please :D

    Capcom really know what they did, they turned a brilliant game into another brilliant game. I enjoy every second I play, and the experience is absolutely amazing. I love what they do and of course I keep waiting for another resident evil.

    I never played the original or any in the Resident Evil series so this was my first and it was an awesome experience. It took me about eight and a half hours to complete Leon’s campaign. The graphics are gorgeous, the blood and gore looked so good. The audio is fantastic, very eerie, hearing the Tyrant’s footsteps coming from all around me was terrifying. Enemies are very scary especiallyI never played the original or any in the Resident Evil series so this was my first and it was an awesome experience.     I wasn't a fan for the original 1998 Resident Evil 2. I was a big fan of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis. But the guys at Capcom did a phenomenal job in remaking this game. It became my favorite Resident Evil game of all time. When you play it you really can't think of anything that could have been better. The gameplay, the story, the graphics and basically everything is crafted to excellence.I wasn't a fan for the original 1998 Resident Evil 2. I was a big fan of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Resident Evil 2 is the remake fans of the game and series have been looking for. There is so much that is done right with this iteration of RE2. Lighting and the OTS perspective add an eerie dimension to once familiar haunting grounds. New players and old will be thrilled and chilled with the additions to the game.

    The classic modes, such as 2nd scenarios, The 4th Survivor, and The Tofu Survivor are still there. New unlockables are available, too, such as art, models, and some nice secrets for hardcore (not necessarily the hardcore mode) players. And Capcom is planning on adding Ghost Survivors for free on February 15th, which will add another mode to the game, so this game is just packed to the gills with content without any of them feeling bloated.

    Much of the game has been cleaned up to reduce the amount of drag in the game. As well as this, the survival horror aspects of the first 3 games are brought back in a wonderful. You're encouraged to not waste bullets on every zombie, though a skilled player can still take down every enemy with no real issues. Many of the set piece fights are changed up to keep players on their toes, including old RE2 players familiar with every aspect of the original game. What's also nice is that the story is allowed to unravel a little less rigidly. You're given no pretext about Umbrella until later in the game.

    This game really sets a high mark for game remakes, and I hope that Capcom will at least follow up with RE3: Nemesis, which is also due for an overhaul for modern generations.    … Expand

    As an old player, who was 12 when first playing RE1 and RE2 back in the day, I was worried about this remake, thinking "it wouldn't be as it was". And it wasn't, not completely. However, the characters feels genuine and as I remember them, some of the more epic moments has been kept in like I remembered them and the storyline is, albeit built up more, pretty much as I remember it. WhereAs an old player, who was 12 when first playing RE1 and RE2 back in the day, I was worried about this remake, thinking "it wouldn't be as it was". And it wasn't, not completely. However, the characters feels genuine and as I remember them, some of the more epic moments has been kept in like I remembered them and the storyline is, albeit built up more, pretty much as I remember it. Where they've made changes, they've put in alternative scenes, like changing the first licker meeting to a different location or made it play out a bit differently; while yet still having the "feel of the moment" be preserved. I still remember that mind-numbing horror from first seeing the licker, and I felt it again now; to an even greater degree because they have somehow managed to make lickers feel even more bloody terrifying than they were! They're bigger, faster and a genuine threat that makes you hesitate to take them on even if you need to for the one reason or the other. The zombies, you can still run circles around them, for the most part, but they are really pesky and tend to get back up again. So seeing a hallway with 2 or more of them still cause a big lump in my throat, because like the original, ammo is scarce, health items are scarce; and you constantly have to be watchful of how much you spend needlessly.

    I can't comment on much more without spoiling, but that's the essence of it. Somehow, they have recreated the "scares" and amplified them! RE2 RM is an absolutely terrifying game to play at times; and there are moments where you think you're safe, just to turn around and see something that makes your heart pretty much explode. I don't know how many times I started swearing at the screen, cause something scared the living you know what out of me. And I'm not that easy to scare, to be honest, having been a horror movie/-games fan for many years.

    And it does a good job of making sure you get the kind of game experience you want. If you like it rough, there's hard-core mode. If you're on the squeamish side, there's an easy mode. And if you think maybe you just wanna go the middle way, there's that option too. Another thing I really liked was that you can choose your controller set; alternative buttons for various actions. The default button for the running toggle is the R3 (stick) which is rough on my thumb which tends to get inflamed. I could switch the controller set to one where the run toggle was on R1 instead, which is much easier on my hands. So albeit giving you a hard core horrifying experience; the game mechanics themselves are user friendly and gives a lot of options so that you can play the game in a way that's comfortable for you and gives you the kind of experience you want.

    Last things; this game, is possibly the most gorgeous game I have seen in a long, long time! Sure, it's bloody and full of gore, but man those graphics are absolutely amazing from the scenery to the facial animations of the characters. And the atmosphere, created by the eerie music, weird scary noises and the flickering lights here and there; its brutal and ingenious all at the same time. I can't even begin to say how impressed I was by how they've built this fantastic horror play box. There's some serious effort that's been put in and every facet of the game is so incredibly well done.

    For me, who was worried when the details of the game started coming out, I can't say anything else than that they really positively surprised me in the end. It's an easy 10/10 for me; and I am so happy that they did such an amazing job with it, considering I've been waiting 5 years for this game to finally show up, after they announced it was in the works. Must be five years now, no? I waited before that too, but the point is; this old timer is very happy with the end result! And even though Claire and Leon looks younger, it makes sense that they do since they are actually supposed to be quite young and looked perhaps a bit too old for their actual age in the older games. Ada was portrayed pretty well too, although she looks more Asian/white than actual Asian. Imagine a Kristin Kreuk, only maybe a bit less sweet and with a bit more bite.

    I babble. 10/10 guys. Highly recommended if you like scaring yourself silly, hehe. And it works for both old timers like me and the new crowd, I'd imagine, as it tells the story well and stands on its own feet.    … Expand

    I was a child 20 years ago, I bought my Resident Evil 2 game disc with my pocket money, which left a deep impression on me. After 20 years, I can finally return to the Raccoon City. The game make the dark, wet, rotten Raccoon Police Department look like alive, the game flow is very smooth, the tight resources are just right, the young Leon and Claire are very cute. I love this game!

    I hated Leon and the original RE. The first 3 look angry as hell and the others were more action than horror but this game made me love the original story. RE7 was the first RE I saw and I loved it but I still prefer RE2 because its just that good.

    Play smart; this is not a gunslinger game - conserve ammo, be smart and play with the dismemberment system. Any shot to a zombie will earn you a small window to run past them without triggering a grab.     I do think the puzzles were a bit too easy; you'd know where to use it immediatly - the trip there, however, might be the challange of it. But it did keep the pacing at a constant rate, which was good.

    The OTS view is excellent. Any other scheme would most likely break the game/immersion. Tank controls would absolutely have ruined it.

    The game engine is fantastically optimized, running heavy environment details and atmospheric effects at a AAA level at all times in densly populated areas - if you disagree, do learn more about game engines, what "costs" in rendering, and cross-platform pitfalls in general. Go for PC version if you're a GFX whore, or PS4 (base/pro) for still awesome gfx, and the good 'ol controller.

    All in all, the most complete horror game to date - excited for more, and please go for RE3 next! Or any new RE game with the same play-style and atmosphere.    … Expand

    RE2 for N64 was my favorite installment of the franchise prior to the Remake, but this game has all of the elements the series has been so desperately missing. The horror was back with VII, but RE2 Remake is an amalgamation of all that is good with Resident Evil over the last 20 plus years. This game is a love letter to the fans who grew up worshiping 1-3 and CV. I'm so immersed in theRE2 for N64 was my favorite installment of the franchise prior to the Remake, but this game has all of the elements the series has been so desperately missing. The horror was back with VII, but RE2 Remake is an amalgamation of all that is good with Resident Evil over the last 20 plus years. This game is a love letter to the fans who grew up worshiping 1-3 and CV. I'm so immersed in the replay value, as well. Completing scenario A is simply halftime of the complete story. Once you get into chasing ranks and speed runs, and 4th Survivor it takes on an entirely new level of fun. I'm just grateful this game was made to really reignite my passion for Resident Evil, and I desperately hope we get a Nemesis Remake in the not too distant future.… Expand

    I only have a few negative things I can say about it. Most of which just sort of pay homage to earlier games. Such as being attacked takes a few seconds... but it also raises the tension as any other enemy in the area gets closer and you get the risk of being attacked again.

    The inventory can be small, at the same time that goes into the difficulty of survival and thinking before you bring everything with you. So again. Not really a negative as it's the intended design and makes you decide between medicine to heal, weapons, ammo and the key items you need. Also space to pick items up. It's all part of the survival aspect.    … Expand

The only nitpick I have is the similarity between A/B scenarios but they added SO MUCH to this game that I find it reasonable to not worry too much about that, they altered the A scenarios so much to where you fight at least 4 forms of G-Birkin and see Mr. X inThis game has exceeded all of my unreasonably high expectations of what a remake of my first Resident Evil title played should be. The only nitpick I have is the similarity between A/B scenarios but they added SO MUCH to this game that I find it reasonable to not worry too much about that, they altered the A scenarios so much to where you fight at least 4 forms of G-Birkin and see Mr. X in A so there wasn’t much they could’ve done different in B, plus it doesn’t change the story much anyway, we already know what happens, so I’m fine with it and enjoy the B scenario very much. Now to why this game is great, where do I start, first of all let me just say that this is by far the most intense and most nerve wracking RE game to date BY FAR, for the people that are saying otherwise are either people that A) didn’t really play the game because muh no fixed camera angles (and I love fixed camera btw) or B) Went into the game already with a negative perception and didn’t truly give it a chance. I realize everyone is different and certain things scare different people and all that, but speaking as someone with years of playing horror games including the revered Silent Hill and Fatal Frame series, not to mention all the other mainline RE games, believe me when I say this game blows all other RE games out of the water in terms of horror (REmake and RE7 are a close 2nd and 3rd respectively) and compared to the original the characters are much more believeable and this time around the dialogue is actually REALLY GOOD. All the environments were given a massive upgrade, yes it’s a shame there’s no factory, but I’ll take what we got over the environments of the old game. The side characters are given a lot more depth, and people say they miss the pre-rendered backgrounds due to the small subtle details of what went down (I can agree somewhat with that) but there’s is just as much of not more of that in this game, like the woman laying on the floor next to the shutter on the 2nd floor of RPD, tells the player that something went down and she sacrificed herself to help people get away, or the graveyard of people being buried, the showers being destroyed (my money is on Nemesis), just so much care and detail went into this game and it makes me happy they really did what they could to make an amazing game. The gameplay is bar none the peak of the RE series, I understand there’s people that prefer Fixed camera and FPS and I get it, but as far as OTS this is easily the best we’ve gotten so far in any RE game period. The shooting is smooth and accessible but still challenging due to the reticle and the need to really aim to get a good shot adding in realism. This is not only my favorite RE game, this is my favorite game period, surpassing the REmake after 16 years of that game taking the top spot. After this game, RE7, DMC5, MM11, SFV (after updates and fixes obv) and of course MHW, it’s safe to say Capcom is BACK and I’m very optimistic of what the future holds with future realeases, hoping that RE3R and RE8 hold the same quality as RE2R and RE7.     Resident Evil 2 is the new gold standard in both survival horror and recreating a classic game. Not only does it pay homage to the 1998 original, it throws story twists and turns to keep even those loyal fans who have memorized the original on their toes. Capcom did this classic justice and that's not an easy thing to do.

Und mir gefällt auch gut das nich nur, wie zum beispiel bei Ubisoft, die Grafik hoch skaliert wurde sondern die ganze engine geändert wurde. Neue Kameraperspektive und vieles mehr. Das einziege was ich zu bemengeln habe sind die Bosse, bei denen man immer nur auf die Schwachstellen schießen muss. The gore was amazing and set up the horror so well. The sounds were phenominal! I highly recommend wearing a headset while playing this game! I played while wearing the Playstation Platinum brand with 3d surroundsound and it made me, a horror vet,I tend to not buy games ive already bought before but i took exception to this title and im so glad i did. During certain parts you get stalked by you know who and with the headset you constantly hear the boots, never knowing how far or close it is and that constant fear made the experience so amazing! As for replay value, theres 4 playthroughs and 1 extra story line. This is one of those games that i recommend people to buy, not rent or borrow, but BUY.     If you are looking for a great story, some scary stuff, a shooting challenge, then this is the game for you. Do not expect zombies to go easy on you, you'll need to work hard to get this through. Such a great game, good job Capcom, now go and work on RE3.

    Phenomenal. I loved the care and devotion that was put into this effort. This was a devoted effort toward that classic game, and it shows. For once in a long time, I actually am wishing there were DLC for this so that I could continue exploring in the engine that they've created. Expanding upon the lore, would be awesome here...

    Congratulations to Capcom, they made a real resident evil after more than 17 years, I thought the game would be back to action, something like revelations 2, but the gameplay is just like the classic games, just changing the camera that is in the back of the protagonist as in modern games, the tension that there was in the first games is back, 10 out of 10

    The only thing I missed were more differences in A-B scenarios (1st and 2nd Run), and more interaction between booth characters during the story. Probably the original made better this aspect. But still, again, this game is a MUST PLAY.

    Came out in January. But probably, having in consideration Sekiro and depending on titles like The Last of Us Part II (if it comes on 2019), it is the main candidate for the "Game Of The Year" 2019 award. Thank you Capcom. Thank you for making Resident Evil scary again. MASTERPIECE.

Unos gráficos maravillosos y que enamoraran a los seguidores de la franquicia. La única pega es que en segundo escenario se repiten los boses cosa que no tiene sentido y no ocurría en el original.     Awesome game! Never played the original, but this game was a lot of fun! Had to watch a lot of YouTube videos in order to figure out where I needed to go and find items that I needed because you literally will get lost at times. The graphics are amazing on my base PS4! This game inspired me to play Dead Space on my PS3 again! Another great game BTW & still holds up for a game from 2008!!!!

    -Gameplay mechanics feel so good. Mr X comes at just the right time as your getting used to the station to put you back on edge. Ammo is scarce. The game is tough but fair.

    My one gripe is I wish the puzzles were more difficult some can be too simple.

    Resident Evil 2 is a wonderful recreation of a believed original that, not only recaptures the glory of that game, but also improves upon it from a visual and gameplay standpoint. All in all, don’t miss out on this one.
