Despite its admittedly numerous faults, I found Broken Porcelain unique and strangely appealing in its own peculiar way. I also have to admire the game’s author’s sincere passion for his vision. Despite the pervasive element of horror, there is an endearing and a bit naïve spunk to the game. Make no mistake, you will fall and fumble through the game but if you endure it all just like troubled Jennifer herself, you will get a glimpse of something true and beautiful in Remothered’s warped and flawed world. This one is only for acquired tastes but its bittersweet flavor has a faint bouquet of organic blossom.

If only the team behind Remothered: Broken Porcelain spent more time working on crucial plot points, character motivation and gameplay mechanics, then we could have a rather good game on our hands. As of now Broken Porcelain is just full of game breaking bugs, some of which the devs are desperately trying to get rid of. If you're planning to buy Remothered: Broken Porcelain anyway, at least wait some time before the game will be fixed.

While this bug-infested horror doesn’t quite inspire us to grab the fly swat, we can’t recommend this in its current state. However, its few bright spots draw us like a moth to a flame. [Issue#182, p.152]

Remothered: Broken Porcelain has difficulty keeping a balance between its story and the game’s main gameplay feature of running. While the game’s worst bugs have been fixed since the PC release, the unique atmosphere is not enough to make the repetitive and often cumbersome gameplay worthwhile.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain's many issues hold it back from being a proper playable experience, let alone the quality game it could have been.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain should have not been released in its current state, since any resemblance with a finished game is pure coincidence. You can barely finish it, and only if you have iron patience to try until you get lucky with some of the bugs that can be game-breaking. It is a shame because the atmosphere of the game is so on spot, feeling creepy and scary, constantly wondering what horror awaits you after the corner. Even though it would still be very short, if the technical aspects would have been fixed, the artistic part and atmosphere would have compensated for the length by offering an intense and memorable experience. Unfortunately in its actual form, even the most basic gameplay mechanics from Remothered: Broken Porcelain are broken, and as such, no one should waste time with it.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain’s striking visuals and outstanding sound design can’t disguise the repetitive, mundane survival horror game lurking underneath.

It's difficult not to have the feeling of playing something incomplete and sloppy which ultimately, despite some good ideas, does not honor the big names in the horror world from which it is inspired.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain is a seductive game, but with some poor execution and mechanics and a lot of bugs.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain should have been a good game but instead ends up as one of the year's biggest disappointments. The great soundtrack and atmosphere can't save it from terribly broken enemy A.I., an overly complicated and confusing story, and the plethora of bugs and glitches that plague the title. This final release is here, but it feels like Broken Porcelain needed at least six more months of development time.

There’s the brutalized skeleton of a good survival horror game buried within Remothered: Broken Porcelain. The story is excellent and will stick with me for years to come. It’s just a shame that for everything the game does right when it comes to its gameplay and storytelling, a severe lack of polish and poor optimization never fail to emerge from the shadows to murder any hopes you had of having a good time.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain feels so incomplete that I'm surprised I managed to complete it at all. While Ashmann Inn is rich with suitably menacing horror movie-inspired interiors to explore, the actual encounters with its inhabitants are frustratingly clumsy and Jennifer’s moth ability is a poor substitute for the more cerebral puzzle-solving of 2018's Tormented Fathers. Add in a slipshod story structure and a raft of technical issues, and Remothered: Broken Porcelain is ultimately a hugely disappointing sequel.

It’s not just the moths that bug Remothered Broken Porcelain. It’s the fundamentally broken narrative structure, nonsensical cut-scenes, unimaginative gameplay, and tired, badly implemented mechanics. Then there’s the masses of crippling bugs. There’s no amount of patching that will fix this game.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain may not get video game horror right often, but there are still a few gems tucked within it. Its focus on the romantic relationship between Jenn and her coworker Lindsey is inspired, and the representation feels authentic. Sadly for Remothered: Broken Porcelain that is not nearly enough to save it, and its prevalent issues make it tough to recommend to even the biggest fans of the series.

The story is perfect and I didn't feel like you had to play the first game. The mechanics and playability are almost the same, with some additions that refine it.
But here comes the problems. All the bad things are bugs and glitches problems, there are also some animation problems.
If they put a patch on it and fix it, it should win the best Italian game.
    I hope they fix it.
When they fix it I'll give it a 10.

I know this game has gotten many negative reviews due to the game bugs and clunky controls. The dev team has been working hard to fix them and already sent out patches on all platforms. Personally, I don't mind the extra challenge fighting against the enemies with at times frustrating gameplay mechanics. I think it's a true survival horror at its best. When you encounter a terrifying enemy who overpowers you in every way and try to run away from him/her, the panic and anxiety you would suffer are well felt in this game.
The graphics improved tremendously over the already great-looking first one. The story was amazingly written. I went back to play the first one afterwards and felt I understood and appreciated the whole story even more. Definitely recommend this game to not only the horror fans but also story-driven fans.
