    I played the game over 250 hours and enjoyed every second of it. This game is beyond masterpiece and easily the best game I played in my entire life. Every thing about this game is special from the story to soundtracks, character design and gameplay...
    If you haven't played the Persona 5 Royal yet, Do yourself a favor and play the game as fast as you can :)

    Just Imagine you're out there. Raising your voice against liars. Persona 5 Royal is my favorite game of all time. I loved Persona 5, but Royal captured my heart. For me, there was no experience ever like this for me and it took my heart, figuratively of course.

    I’m writing this review because of the 60 dollar price tag reviews. I don’t think a game should ever be judged on its price tag or company’s terrible choice etc. The actual game is how a game should be judged. This is a great game and I’d buy the game again to experience the new Royal part for the first time again.

    For me its the best game i have ever played it greatly improves on the base game and i didn't even know it was possible to improve the base game let alone to this extent. The ending is perfect and this is the first game that made me cry on it's ending and i just can't wait for Persona 6.

    I had already spent 100+ hours on Persona 5.

    After 130+ hours (just one playthrough, but I've done everything needed to get the platinum) I can say that this is probably my favorite game of all time. It has done the insane job of making an already perfect game even more perfect. Every story addition is meaningful (I loved Kasumi so much that she replaced Makoto as my go-to in-game    I had already spent 100+ hours on Persona 5.

    I love, love this game so much. It has some of the best characters in any media, a compelling and bittersweet story (especially in the new bits), incredibly fun gameplay, and it's stylish as hell.

    And Morgana is not nearly as annoying as he was in the base game!

    Persona 5 was one of my favorite games of 2017, and royal did not disappoint on making a masterpiece, even better.

    My main complaint about persona 5 vanilla, was that the plot could've been a lot better, considering only a few parts really surprised me, and a few characters needed to be more well built. Royal fixed both of those flaws (mostly), and made the combat system even better. It added a few characters, with two outstanding ones, being Maruki and Kasumi, which I think are some of the best written characters in the entire game. This is a great modern JRPG that you can't miss out if you like the genre, being very remarkable and fun.
    This game implements the time management better than any other game I've ever played (alongside Fire Emblem Three Houses), and the aesthetics for this game are the most remarkable I've ever seen.
    The Maruki arc, introduced in royal, was probably the best one story wise, and the ending was much better than the original's.
    Well I only said good things about this game, but my reasoning for why it's 9/10 instead of 10/10, is because, once you get used to the flashy visuals, the game starts losing it's style, and you start noticing it's flaws. The story could still be a bit better, some characters are annoying, and it's way too long. Okumura's arc sucked, and that's pretty much all I have to say about this game, a masterpiece indeed.    … Expand

    A game that improves on every aspect of the original Persona 5, and somehow manages to keep it fresh even if you've played the original. A must play and potential GOTY for 2020.

    Truly an incredible game. Improves on the amazing original game by a lot. Quality of life improvements all around. The new palace is the best in persona 5 aswell. It also changed the base game enough to warrent a full replay of the game, despite me playing it only a couple of months before royal came out.

    It’s everything the original game was, but with more! Characters are so brilliant, the storylines are so real (even when using fantastical themes) and it really is a special experience. This sort of experience transcends gaming to me, and I’m utterly in love with it. The way in which Persona 5 Royal manages to develop all the characters very well, in a long and immersive story, without being boring for the player is excellent. Even at the end, when it shows all the results of Maruki’s research on cognitive psience, and what his goals were and why to do that, it’s just wonderful how the creators took elements applied from the beginning and used them in a plot twist at the end of game.     Persona 5 Royal is a good game, however I couldn't call it even close to being one of the best JRPG's ever made. What is it though, is still a fun game with a lot of entertainment to be found. It's got fun characters, punchy combat with a good amount of depth, very engaging levels to traverse your way through, and a very engaging calendar system which asks you to ration out your time inPersona 5 Royal is a good game, however I couldn't call it even close to being one of the best JRPG's ever made. What is it though, is still a fun game with a lot of entertainment to be found. It's got fun characters, punchy combat with a good amount of depth, very engaging levels to traverse your way through, and a very engaging calendar system which asks you to ration out your time in the game wisely and leads to it's own level of depth. The games major flaws are all found in the generally lack luster writing. While this writing is fun in the moment as you listen to characters banter back and forth, it has problems with several major problems. These include plot holes, contradictions to it's own themes (such as how Ryuji, an abuse victim, is beaten by his own friends at least once as a joke. Or maybe how Ann, someone whose story revolves around how she has to stand up to a rapist and prove herself as not an object, spends the next arc of the game being blackmailed into sexual harassment. This is also played off as a joke and characters will continue to joke about it several times later on) and the games need to hold your hand constantly. You can't go 10 steps in this game without someone stopping you in your tracks to tell you how to open a door or something. The final level added as an addition in The Royal is quite a standout, however, doesn't quite reach it's potential due to it's placement *after* the game's climax. It can make the game feel quite drawn out. Overall, the good still outweighs the bad. This game is surely worth trying, even for those who aren't fans of the genre. It's good, relaxing fun.… Expand

    Persona 5 royal is a masterpiece that no Gamer should ever miss. The art, the style the combat system, and all those Awesome Personas are just epic, I used to say that ff7 was the greatest rpg ever made ,but Persona 5 is my new #1 on my list of greatest game's ever created. A must buy.

Persona 5's aesthetic was great and it's gameplay was probably the best in the Persona series. P5R fixes most of Vanilla P5's problems but not all of them. Maruki and Kasumi were great additions to the gameplay and story but I feel like the game shoves Kasumi in your face too often. Vanilla P5's story and plot twist were predictable and P5R doesn't really change anything about that. I'd give Vanillla P5 the overall same rating as P5R. Oh and I wasn't mad about buying P5R because there "weren't enough changes". I played most of the Persona originals and remasters (IS, Portable, Golden) so I knew what I was getting myself into.… Expand

I was looking for a long game since I was very bored at the end of summer, yet I didn't have any game to play, so I decided to check Metacritic to see which games are rated the highest and so I found out about Persona 5 Royal. I quickly decided to purchase this version instead of the regular one in spite of being at a discounted price at the time. IThis game is just simply fantastic. I don't regret doing that since the additions in Royal are the best part of the game in my opinion. It's true that those changes are not as substantial as some would have hoped but for a first playthrough, they're necessary to greatly enhance the experience. I'm not saying that you can't enjoy the regular game, quite the opposite, everything about this game is simply fantastic but the characters and the dungeon added in Royal are the best this game has to offer. In my opinion, you should purchase Royal instead of the regular version; also, don't worry about any DLC, they're just cosmetics and completely unnecessary to the game, I even played the entire game without using them because I prefered the regular skins. I know that not everyone is willing to pay a full-priced game blindly like I did but trust me, with a very high chance you'll love this game just as I did.… Expand

    Enquanto o original foi meu jogo favorito da geração, essa versão pecou em alguns pontos: música de batalha do original é melhor, alteraram alguns diálogos por razões estúpidas, alteraram a dificuldade do jogo deixando ele muito fácil a ponto de perder a graça. Definitivamente recomendo o original.

    Worth every penny, finish persona 5 at 2018, and i had no problems playing it all over again on the hardest difficulty, and there is like a 30% more content on top of that ?! And its all great additions, if I could rate it higher that a 10 trust me i would.

    As someone who came into the series, anime, and rpgs blind and in avoidance, Persona 5 is that once in a lifetime type of game that hooks you with some of the best presentation out there (from music to art style to ui to sound design),have fun while playing with rpg gameplay that never felt grindy at all like other rpgs that I could never get into,and at the end of it all you feel like itAs someone who came into the series, anime, and rpgs blind and in avoidance, Persona 5 is that once in a lifetime type of game that hooks you with some of the best presentation out there (from music to art style to ui to sound design),have fun while playing with rpg gameplay that never felt grindy at all like other rpgs that I could never get into,and at the end of it all you feel like it emotionally has taken you somewhere sincerely meaningful and gives you a new perspective on life.P5Royal somehow is able to not only be a worthy full priced expansion on the content side of things but it also adds new meaning and depth to the narative and makes this one of the best stories told in media period, a once in a lifetime game you shouldn't miss out on.… Expand

Batallas desafiantes, narrativa bien construida, personajes complejos, un sistema de progreso "social" novedoso, y un "simulador de vida real" que es el verdadero núcleo del juego. Atlus se lució con este juego, y me tiene ya re-jugandólo por segunda vez (ya llevo más de 200 horas). LoEsta fue mi primera experiencia con la saga Persona; y la verdad mejor impresión no me he podido llevar.     i must say because of the original persona 5 i became a fan of the series i love it, man it was fantastic but than Royal comes out and WOW extra content was mind blowing if you never played persona 5 royal or any in the series start now lol , i recently played part 4 golden love just as much also next was 3 but The Last of us 2 held me up time for my next review ;)

I viewed some bad votes, but they are nonsense: someone said that is the vanilla game but with dlcs, but it isn't correct. Persona 5 Royal is something very new, with awesome mechanics and is impossible to make the royal game something like a dlc. I don't give 10/10 only 'cause the difficulties levels was something strange: the mercilles mode was a normal mode but you have more crit chance . I loved special attacks they added,' cause is a mechanic that help a lot. I love all the new secret bosses and I love the Maruki arc. I think that Atlus made Maruki like better Akechi,' cause Akechi was an orribile pg. One other thing that I liked is that now akechi confidant is normal, now he' s a real rival and in the Maruki's arc an ally. I think they did something wrong with Kasumi/Sumire, 'cause they presented her to you like a new phantom thief, but then you play her only in the final palace.

    An expansion to polish an already amazing game, I loved persona 5 and that game already was a masterpiece with 100+ of activities, from living out a normal japanese life to battling shadow creatures kept me busy for hours, however, people may not have the need to buy this version.

    If you were a diehard fan of the original or someone who has never tried persona before you should definitely get it but if you have played persona 5 before then you may not want to get it as it adds a couple of things on top of the story, an extra dungeon and new characters, so if you don't want to spend 60 bucks and a 100+ hours on a game you already played then this may not be for you.

    The Royal expansion add one character playable only towards the end and after 100h. The combact is improved with new items, new Persona and slightly different mechanic (baton pass). In short - the new characters, Kasumi/Sumire and Maruki (more on them later) are good additions. Their backstories are tragic and really well done, and the twists they bring to the story are great. The additions to the gameplay are excellent, the grappling hook adds a really cool new element to palace exploration, and using powered up Baton passes and Technical damage is really satisfying after you put in the work playing darts and billiards. Disaster Shadows are a fun addition too. Will Seeds and their SP regeneration really helped me as someone who likes to run through palaces in one go. The soundtrack additions are unbelievably good, specially the ones from Maruki's palace, and giving Mementos new music was a welcome decision too, made exploration a lot better. As for the true endings, a part of me liked vanilla Persona 5's true ending more than this one, I really liked Joker's trip back to his hometown turning into a roadtrip with the PTs, but I get the symbolism with this one too.

    I don't really have much to say about Sumire, she's kind of cool but not really the most interesting character in the game, specially during her time as Kasumi. She does come into her own after the actual events of her past are explored in detail, but it's too close to the end of the game. She suffers from a lack of screen time, similar to what happened with Haru in the vanilla Persona 5, her story was really well done but by the time it was explored in depth it was way too late in the game. Speaking of Haru, the poor girl still didn't get the screentime she deserves.

    Maruki is a brilliant character in every sense. His confidant was great and as a villain with a lot of character depth he had me completely torn, you could see that he really just wanted to remove all the suffering from the world and see everyone happy, so he was completely different from almost all the other villains of the game/series. It was hard tearing all the members of the Phantom Thieves away from his reality, a reality they were so happy in and a reality that had everything they wished for. His palace, and the story leading up to stealing his heart, is the best in the game, with Sae's palace being a close second. Going through the 3rd semester and his palace was a very emotional affair. New character wise Maruki more than made up for Sumire being a little underwhelming.

    The thing Persona 5 Royal does best is it's handling of Akechi. I never liked him, I've never considered him a member of the Phantom Thieves, despite the fact that he saved them and sacrificed himself in Shido's palace. I didn't like his phony Ace Detective getup. I didn't like the fact that after his death the PTs were going, "yeah, he was a victim too, he was used by adults just like us" and shifting all the blame onto Shido, with next to none on the person who actually carried out the killings. But by having him embrace who he was (a murderer and a villain) when he returned for the final palace, the game made me do a complete 180 on my opinion of him. He added a much welcome edge to the Phantom Thieves, and some of his dialogues and actions were absolute gold. His confidant was pretty good too. I went into the game determined not to fall for any Akechi redemption arc, but by the end of the game I had really started to like him. Granted, I still thought it was weird the way the Phantom Thieves reacted to Akechi's death upon arrival in the original reality, with sadness and grief. I mean that is literally the person who assassinated Futaba's mom, Haru's dad and tried to do the same to Joker, with plans to pick off the rest of the team one on by one too.

    All in all, if you put aside the small and ultimately inconsequential flaws, the game has absolutely everything one would look for in a modern JRPG. It will go down as one of the all time greats, and I cannot recommend it enough.    … Expand

    Persona 5 Royal has fixed almost all my Issues with base Persona 5, like Momentos and Ryuji's 7th confidant ability which was more of a Nuisance, than useful. Tweaked Palaces also made it a tiny bit better except a specific Man riding on a Jet-chair. The Thieves Den was just awesome, like that one Polished Card game "Tycoon" was addictive as **** A Great game for Quarantine.

    The original Persona 5 game was one of my favorite games and still is. However, Persona 5 Royal took that game and made it so much better. Each Palace is designed differently and they are all fairly big with quite a few areas to explore. In Persona 5 Royal, you can get an additional 9th Palace to complete if you meet some criteria, I won't say much here in case it might be considered a spoiler, but just remember to build your relationships/confidants in the game. Overall, the game is a masterpiece; I don't understand why some people don't like the story because they got the bad ending (There are of 3 endings with 3 more being added in Royal.) To get the right ending, more specifically the true ending, just choose what you think is right. The relationships and connections you build with characters is something that's really special, you feel like you're actually part of the Phantom Thieves and going on adventures with them. Even though it doesn't seem like it will be that long of a game seeing as how there's a total of 9 palaces, this is one of the longer games I've played. My original run on vanilla P5 was around 140 hours, and my run on royal was 130-135 hours. I'm currently doing an NG+ to relive the story. Not only is the story gripping, but the gameplay is also amazing. Each palace contains intricate puzzles that you need to solve to progress, and the world of Japan inside Persona 5 Royal is simply amazing. And now finally, I would like to end this review by saying that this is a masterpiece of a game with a beautiful story and soundtrack composed by Shoji Meguro. I highly recommend this game.… Expand

    Made a great game even better, this has tons of content to go through so make sure you set time for this game cuz it will take you a while, which imo is an awesome thing as this game will keep you occupied for a while to justify its price tag.

    I very much enjoyed this game, It partially consumed my life for about 2 months and boy were those 2 months glorious, ofc the nighttime theme beneath the mask drove my dad insane and now hates that song, but I still really enjoy all the improvements they made over from P5 original, the new semester and final arc was a rollercoaster that still has me thinking.

First off, the soundtrack is unlike any other soundtrack for any game that I've ever personally experienced. Sometimes I would find myself just jamming during a boss fight because the intensity is so high and the music is straight up BUMPING I can't not enjoy the music. After that, the characters are all great. Some are a little under done such as Haru, her actual plot isn't introduced until hilariously late in the story but she's still great. Some of the characters are overwhelmingly dumb for the sake of the game being able to explain the metaphors that are currently happening in the game. At first it really annoyed me, but by the end it really started to grew on me and I started to have a lot of fun with it. The only real issue I have with the game is the 5th boss you have to fight in this version for whatever reason, is such an insane difficulty spike. It's almost hard to describe. I tried the boss fight for probably over 3-4 hours and I could never beat it and that was on easy. Given I know I'm definitely not the best and I more than likely didn't build up my confidants enough to really make that possible. Instead of going back I decided to turn it down to safe which you can't undo and you literally can't die anymore in the game and I also downloaded free persona 4 content which gives you personas from that game and some of them are like level 90 and they basically break the game at that point. It kind of took the fun out of it at first and then I realized that the turn-based combat is not really why I play the game. It's way more for the story, characters, and the other life-sim elements that make the game special. I mean one of my favorite parts in the game is when you go to Hawaii on a school trip and there's nothing going on other than just hanging out with your friends and the possibility of romancing whoever your most advanced female confidants. However most of the boss battles are extremely gratifying by the end of them and do make you feel genuinely accomplished because sometimes they can take an absurd amount of time. It didn't really bother me in the end though. And really if I could have any issue is that somehow Persona 5 Scramble (the sequel) hasn't had the english dubbing yet so it hasn't been released in the states and I wanna continue this storyline with these exact characters so much it pains me almost. But that's not really an issue. Overall though, even though some of these issues might look substantial. I overlooked them quite easily because the rest of the game is so amazing. This game is probably one of my favorite games of all time. And easily in the top 5 PS4 games. So if you're looking for a game to really spend time on, this is your answer. My play-through took about 93 hours and that's on the short end compared to other people I know. I literally can't recommend this game enough. 10/10… Expand

    The best anime game you could ever play. Expands on the base Persona 5 which was already a masterpiece. The extra Royal content is well worth replaying the entire game. The game is very long though, my run clocked in 110 hours, though none of it was boring. The ost is great and makes you want to get into battles. Your not going to find better turn-based jrpg combat in any other game.

    Persona 5 is really a great game, and thus P5R that is based on P5 cannot be too bad. However, I must say that the additional story for P5R is in my opinion not up to par with the original story, with the new story and new character being a bit "awkward" to the main story line of P5. Otherwise the new and modified mechanisms of P5R are great and make the game more enjoyable.

So I picked this copy up and and the £60 was worth it. I have clocked in about 128 hours into this game and I have enjoyed the bosses more than I did as well as the new social locations and the new confidants. Another feature that made this game more re-playable is the Thieves den, which has it own achievement wall that unlocks artwork, model statues and displayed that can be places in the museum area and videos related to the game.     This was my first persona game and I LOVED IT! if you're a fan of games with great stories, characters and soundtrack then this is for you, it starts off slow tho but stick with it trust me its worth it.

    JRPGs overall experience can't get any better than this game.
    Each persona and SMT game has its own amazing story yes. but none of them had the same charismatic UI as this.

    One of the best games ever. But the original P5 was a better experience over all. The new ending of P5R doesn't fit in the whole game. The game is with 130h way to long. The new music was the best of Royal. I don't need the extra content. And I say that although P5 is one of my favorite games.

    If you played P5, you don't need P5R.

    This game is best for people who have never played the original Persona5. It enhances the game in terms of both gameplay and story, also makes the first experience much better compared to the original game. However, If you already own the vanilla P5 and know about the story, the full game price tag might seem a bit too much. Still, this is the superior version, thus deserves the score it has.

    Persona 5 Royal allows players to experience the story they already love in a new way without losing any of the beauty from the original game. New and old characters get their chance to shine through and steal your heart, even the ones you never expected to. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and maybe you’ll even feel a sense of justice for the infamous Phantom Thieves in the end. But one thing you won’t feel is regret in picking up Persona 5 Royal, as it’s truly the best Persona title, if not one of the best video games, I’ve ever experienced to date.

    All of the new additions and content mean that Persona 5 Royal is a clear upgrade to the original. New players should seek this version without hesitation, although vets may find starting the game over from scratch to be too big an ask. Either way, there’s no doubt that Persona 5 Royal sits proudly on the throne of Peak Persona… or at least it will until Atlus decides they can do even more with it.
