The constant update of skins and less frequent update in maps provides some nice goals and interesting playgrounds but what really drags this game is it's repetitiveness. The will come a time when I will no longer find enjoyment in this game. Another issue is that the constant character balance updates do irate when you get used to particular character. The unecessary compulsion of consolke prauyes to buy the origin edition is also a needlessly greedy tactic. And overall I feel this game is worth $40, its price of PC. The saddest thing is that there is a story on the internet but not in the same no single player no context.

Overwatch is a great game graphically, gameplay wise, and story wise but where most of the game is strong the games biggest downfall at least at the moment is a lack of content. The heroes are well designed and feel diverse but while 21 sounds like a lot but you soon figure out the ones you enjoy and don't enjoy from each category and the rest will just sorta sit there unused. The maps are colorful and have diverse level design. The one flaw that i can't defend this game from is the level up and microtransaction systems, the way it works is every time you level up you get a loot box which contains a random set of 4 items that can be poses, emotes, skins, etc. You can also buy these boxes with real money, The problem being the contents are randomized, you can pull duplicates, you can get items for heroes you don't want to play (i got three zenyatta skins including his legendary even though i don't play him), and you have to hope that the box has the ingame currency so you can buy things you actually want. In conclusion overwatch is fun, even addicting at times but there's little to play here and the game tries to keep you playing with box openings that are not really that exciting like other box openings in games due to you getting some hardly noticeable or just plain unwanted things like voice lines.

This is something that games like The Division has failed to do lately.

The multiple characters, each with their own unique abilities and traits that provide something different to each game mode and battle, give the game an interesting and diverse aspect that will keep everyone hooked. What stands out here though is how strategic the game can be. Rather than choosing one character and giving him traits or perks and playing every game the same way, Overwatch requires you to play as a team, look at what the team has and what it needs, and adapt what character you choose and how you play in order to help the team win. This is something that might be new to console gamers, and could be hit or miss within the community.

Though Overwatch does lack in game modes, the modes that are there can provide hours of fun for a FPS multiplayer shooter, and the lack of story matters none in my opinion as I am totally immersed in the experience anyway.

Each character also has its own unique strengths and weaknesses that can fit pretty much any playstyle. If you like to be a speedy player like the Scout, play Tracer. Like being in the air and picking off opponents from the sky? Go for Pharah. If you're not really a team player and like being a Lone Wolf, pick Reaper. And if you're like me and just like to stay in the opponent's face and never give them a chance to breathe, go for D Va.

Also, unlike TF2, customizing your characters doesn't give you an advantage over other players who haven't played as much as you have. And if you want a challenge, Competitive Mode will do that for you, placing a much-needed "1 character per team" limitation, which helps add balance and also make the player branch out and play other characters in case their main character of choice is taken.

I also like how Blizzard has seen the differences between console and PC versions and have patched them separately based on the needs of each version.

However, that's not to say that the game has its flaws. And the main flaw centers around its Loot Box system and micro-transactions, something that I feel holds no place in a full-priced game.

All in all, though, the world needs Heroes, and the gaming world needs games like Overwatch

Considering my usual tastes in gaming I should dislike this game but with all of that said most of the elements really work well in this case. Many people can agree that this is a real breath of fresh air for what is otherwise a stale genre in the modern gaming sense. It manged to combine the moba and online shooter genre to near-perfect results. There is a progression system but it is only for cosmetic purposes such as alternate costumes voice clips or spray cans. They can be achieved by getting loot boxes which are acquired after leveling up. You can get more through micro transactions which is a shame for a well respected company such as Blizzard but at least it is only for aesthetic purposes and does not affect the game play. I am also surprised that this game does have so many perfect scores eve though there is pretty minimal content. The maps are small and there are only approximately 3 or 4 game modes. This game could benefit with having more maps and more modes. Single player campaigns are not the priority for these types of games but considering how diverse the cast is and their unique powers it would be interesting to have a story mode which would further explore these characters and the Overwatch lore. Despite these setbacks the game is still a blast to play. Players have accesses to all of the heroes at the start and each of them are unique and play a certain role. No two characters play alike in fact the game outright discourages you from only picking one champion since the heroes are split into the following roles for your team: assault, defense, tank, and support. The characters are not only diverse in their powers but also in their play styles. The controls are the same for each chracter but how they feel is incredibly different. Every champion is fun t play as and the game encourages experimentation to see which ones you are best at and which ones are good at certain maps. The game also keeps you on your toes because the action is smooth and quick. The pvp is the major highlight of the game as you test your skills against your opponents. The bright and colorful aesthetic is also a nice breath of fresh air after years of multiplayer shooters being in murky grey r brown. The heroes are distinct and the game play will give you an ad reline rush even if you loose as each game feels like a fair challenge instead of having players use cheap tactics to win. This is one of the best multiplayer games on the market. It could use some more content to keep its player base coming back for more but fortunately Blizzard has confirmed that any future maps and champions will be free. Blizzard has yet another beloved franchise under their belt. Expand

It features a variety of playable characters (21) whose skills can perfectly complement each other - you can also switch between characters mid-game in attempt to 'change the tide' of the way a match is panning out; if your team mates are dying frequently you can switch to a healer or when you're running out of time (as the attacking team) you can switch to a 'tank' character (who has health in abundance) in order to rush the opposing team. It's this choice and diverse range of characters that is one of the reasons I feel like playing much, much more; they all feel unique.

The game-modes that are there are very fun; there is quick play (attackers go after two objectives the defenders are protectint, both teams attacking a control point and the attackers transporting a vehicle throughout the map - if it reaches the end they win - if not, they lose) and not to mention the 'weekly brawl' which is a crazy game-mode; this weeks is that you're only allowed to pick Mercy or Pharah so the battles are mostly ariel

. Sometimes it can feel samey, if it had three or four more maps (they're adding more maps and characters for free in the future!) and potentially two 'brawl of the week' game modes instead of just once a week (they'd have to change the name) it may keep the game from feeling tiresome when playing alone - it's still fun - but it's better in a team!

The level design is good with some different pathways to exploit (some levels are more narrow and some more open) such as areas to flank the enemy and make full use of the abilities you have. There are characters who perhaps need tweaking but overall it doesn't ruin too much due to the extremely fun and 'one more go' gameplay, but some characters can be an annoyance at times.

The competitive mode at the time of writing this is a mess - however it is said they have a patch for the leaving issue! If your team is 2-0 down and one person leaves, the game says you can leave without punishment - but with a loss. This means that if people think they are likely to lose anyway, they might as well quit the game. Because the competitive mode's rules are as so, this has lead me to be apart of a match where there has been (on my team) two players remaining and I've even been in a match where only one player in the opposing team has remained - and credit to them! Personally, I feel like you should get punished if you leave unless your team only has at least four players - or perhaps they should make it so you get punished if you leave at all! Another gripe would be that at the start of a match, if a player leaves, it will cancel the match for everyone and put them in another one. I think they should allow matchmaking if it's at the start of a match, and if it's halfway way through they should potentially add AI - however, if they change it so that you're punished if you leave at all - you would probably experience less people leaving!

All items you collect are cosmetic and some consist of skins, icons and poses ect, it is a game that most, if not everyone can simply pick up and enjoy. The gameplay is very good fun (60-70 + hours played) but I just wish there was more of it and competitive was better. Despite the problems at its current state - it still warrants an 8/10 due to the way the developers are treating it and the potential it holds to become even better.

Overwatch has a lot going for it. Being a team-based game, a lot of the enjoyment of an individual match will come from your teammates and how well you work together, but there is still a lot of individual skill required. Overwatch is a incredibly fun game. Having a great team-based system, this is a great game for those interested in pure gameplay. Taking a different approach from traditional shooters, this game focuses on gameplay and teamwork.

The game has a cast of 22 heroes at the moment, with more coming for free in the form of patches (A incredibly generous move). Each one features a weapon, personality and a set of abilities unique to them, divided on four categories: Offense, Defense, Tank and Support.

Offense heroes are focused on, guess what, offense. They're flexible, have a high damage output and are overall better on combat situations. On the other hand, defense characters focuse on defending the objective. Tank heroes have extremely high health - The biggest health pool in the entire game, from Roadhog, 600 HP, is on this. - and are the "sponges" of the team. Most of the Support characters can heal, either with AoE (Lúcio), directly (Mercy), give shields (Symmetra), shoot them to heal (Ana) or with temporary orbs (Zenyatta).

As said before, each character has their own ability - For example, the ninja cyborg Genji can deflect shots, while the demolition maniac Junkrat can leave steel traps on the ground, while the Russian weightlifter Zarya can put barriers, which absorb damage to increase her damage output.

All characters also have a unique "Ultimate Ability", which either provide the team with special things (such as Widowmaker's Recon Visor, Ana's Nano Boost, etc.), crowd control (Winston's Primal Rage, Roadhog's Whole Hog, etc.) or deal insane ammounts of damage (Pharah's Rocket Barrage, Junkrat's RIP-Tire, Reaper's Death Blossom, D.Va's Self-Destruct, etc.). These must charge before usage - They charge slowly, but dealing damage can speed up the charging.

Every character is memorable and interesting - Overwatch did something similar to Team Fortress 2, one of the game's major's inspirations. The story is told outside of the game. Some characters had their own animations, (such as Hanzo and Genji having their own short titled "Dragons") while others had their own comics (Such as Torbjorn), but all of the histories can be found on the game's website - So characters such as Lucio, who has no animation or comic, have their stories told.

Each character has memorable quotes, such as McCree's "It's High Noon", D.Va's "Nerf THIS!", Soldier 76's "I've got you in my sights!", Junkrat's "Fire in the hole!" and many more.

Blizzard is constantly teasing us - Such as spreading simple hints like folders with names such as "Sombra", to making one frame codes that give out messages, and screens decoded to bar codes, further decoded into binary codes, further decoded into a QR code that gave out a message (Note: All of them point towards Sombra.)

It's a very fun game, focusing more on Teamwork and team composition more than any game. However, it does have its flaws - There aren't many maps and no story mode. But since there's more characters to come, it's possible that once all of them have been revealed, a story mode will be made. Recent datamining has revealed quotes that indicate future maps.

Every level you reach, you get a loot box. Inside, there are four items chosen randomly, such as outfits, sprays, voice lines, etc. There are also golden skins, which can be bought with 300 competitive points, which you gain 1 everytime you win a competitive match.

So, in short: It's a fun game that literally screams "Pick up and play and have fun." While offering no rewards aside from the loot boxes and the fun, it's a memorable game. The characters are very interesting, and so are the maps.

Overwatch is not a stupid clone of Team Fortress 2 as many thought. Overwatch is much more interesting, more colorful, it is much nicer to play. In Overwatch a large number of characters that will only grow. Each character not similar to each other both appearance and gameplay. Fun to play for each character. Don't focus on one, try different characters for different gameplay (even the doctors are different). Yes, the game has gameplay similar to Team Fortress 2 (even some characters), but still it is distinctive. Overwatch can be called mobay, especially all the characters have their own special ultimate. Timely filed ultimate can change the course of the match (I will not say. that's good). You can even combine ultimate between characters of the team.

The maps where we play as different. The design of the game is good, and the game itself looks great. Let some say that cartoony is the style of the game very well. Some cards, I think. there is a certain imbalance: some are easier to win for the defense, and the other for the defense.

Overwatch refers to the type of games easy to play but hard to master. In this game, just need to have a full team. You are alone in this game will not do anything, how skilled you wouldn't be. This game decides the interaction between the team. Even if you'll play well, because teams still lose. For playing Overwatch you need to have a good team. Yeah, playing with random players is also possible, but will be less fun at times.

So how long will be interesting to play this game? I played Overwatch in a little less than 200 hours and is tired of playing games. She no longer brings me joy. The problem with Overwatch is annoying (although I won't speak for everyone). In this game there is no plot, Yes, there is lore and wonderful videos on YouTube, but that doesn't count. Overwatch is a wonderful multiplayer game, the interest of which is purely individual - someone she will hold for long, some don't. I fell in love with these characters, but the gameplay is boring, and it is very annoying that this is purely a team game - sometimes because of his bad team, you just can't do anything and only have to suffer until the end of the round. In Overwatch a lot of random moments that I just hate. I played Overwatch in a little less than 200 hours, and she gave me so many emotions, and what you want.

At this point, however, it becomes quite clear that you'll get an advantage by playing with friends and utilise characters and their powers combined. Playing solo ain't always easy, but it's just as fun.
A downside for me is that the game lacks campaign, this is pure online FPS, although Blizzard does update with seasonal events which have included campaign-like content. A huge plus-side though is that all the updates, whether it'd be new characters or new levels or other content, is 100% free of charge. You buy the game, and thats it. No DLC-buy:s needed. It's a great way to keep a community on par with each other and it's a great nod from Blizzard too, acknowledging that they understand the morale of when to charge for something and when not to. Overwatch is a great game to play, it's a joy to come back to again and again, alone or with friends.

My critical analysis of Blizzard’s ‘Overwatch’ is based on my own time playing Overwatch, clocking up to around 8 months now; giving it a fresher, more up to date review of the FPS.
Having garnered over 500 hours on Overwatch’s competitive mode alone, I can securely say the balancing previously mentioned in other reviews as ‘clearly unbalanced’ is no longer the case and Blizzard have tweaked every Hero in order for a change in gameplay or generalised balance that makes the game fairer and more viable for everyone’s playstyle.
Despite the surprisingly limited number of game modes and maps, I still find every game of Overwatch fun as I’m always matched with new people who have different play styles, keeping me on edge to play good in every game. I will give an explanation of each of the three main categories of the game are; Quick Play, Arcade and Competitive:
Quick Play – A ‘normal’ game of Overwatch with no specific skill ranking, only level based match making which essentially means nothing, only how many hours you’ve spent on any of the three categories. Extremely useful during the start of me playing overwatch as I was not punished, via rank, for being so bad. Giving me a place to learn new characters and also alongside other newbies so I wasn’t completely decimated by obviously more skilful players. However as the ranks go up, particularly in my experience around the ‘first star’ (level 100) the players you match with who are of similar level become less and less interested and determined to win as before, more frequent mid-game dropouts, people who are testing a new hero out and other minor things that essentially put me off playing quick play solo. In contrast however, playing quick play with friends is a lot more fun as you are also matched with people in teams, making it a lot more enjoyable personally. Overall, quick play is a great learning curve that diminishes it’s playability the higher level you progress.

Arcade – Seasonal events all year round that are fun and new for players to have a different kind of game. Overall, the arcade offers mediocre alternative supplements for a bored player however is used for player testing of new maps, after being tested first on the PTS on PC, which is a lot of fun to experience a completely new map; a rarity in Overwatch due to the seriously stalled map releases throughout the years. I feel as though the whole Arcade mode is deserving of being on the main screen however seriously lacking in creativeness throughout most of the year, take Rocket League for example, their ‘Rocket Labs’ can be linked to Overwatch’s Arcade mode as new things are tested by the public and based on feedback released. The only major difference being game modes in Overwatch’s Arcade are almost never seen again once they leave, maybe having a saved game mode list where players can play any pre-released game mode on a privately hosted lobby would be a better alternative.

Competitive – A much more serious game mode for the more in tune players who want a very different game style as in quick play because everyone wants to win! Overwatch’s competitive ranking system drives you to keep playing as a team and win to gain level and increase your ranking, however still punishing you if your team loses. Despite what many biased, too personal, reviews say about the ranking system completely destroying your hard earned rank by 1 or more people in your team leaving prematurely, lagging out, or ‘throwing’, the way the ranking system works is based on your own personal player skill in every game. However it is gruellingly annoying when a player clearly has not tried in a game and resulted in a loss as you more commonly lose more SR from losses than gaining it from winning.
Conclusively, I rate Overwatch a metacritic score of 8/10 and personal score of 82/100. Based off extensive personal play time across a long period of time, allowing me to experience different ‘waves’ of the Overwatch game itself and its community within it. I highly rate the competitive aspect of the game although it is heavily team dependant which can cause a lot of losses, doesn’t feel that great. Would defiantly recommend this game to anyone who finds it fun to learn and develop a range of different characters to perfection, playing either competitively or just for fun in arcade mode. Excellent game that does not deserve a lot of the negative reviews online, by users, and especially outdated reviews that comment on already addressed bugs or things that have been fixed.

This might not be everyone's type of game but it is a really fun fast-paced FPS game. Each character has their advantages and disadvantages making the game quite balanced.

Overwatch is a great team shooter. If you like team fortress you'll love Overwatch. It translates the moba style to FPS. While I think Blizzard should of embraced a campaign the gameplay of the multiplayer is very additctive and really fun solo or with friends. Grinding can be tedious as leveling up gets really slow around level 40.

An online futuristic multiplayer team based game which contains both fps adrenaline and coordinated gameplay. It's really an enjoyable and engaging experience, both in defence and attack. Every hero feels unique, the maps are well-designed and, in addition to the classic game modes, the arcade game modes are fun and original.
So, why this game isn't a 10? Well, for two particular points:
    1) The game is living a real "content drought", adding very few new things every two or so months, especially since Role Que was added (but also before this period, which was august 2019); this because Blizzard has announced Overwatch 2 and almost every new type of content will be left for that game, leaving Overwatch with its stale yearly events routine. The only things that are really new are the few skins that are added during the aforementioned events.
    2) The multiplayer core experience is based on teamwork and coordination, especially in competitive, where people are supposed to communicate; however, this doesn't happen very often, particularly on console. And when you cannot coordinate your team, you are most likely going to lose and get frustrated. Yes, frustrated, because you clearly know what you have to do in order to win, but you can't because your teammates are not performing properly their role, leaving the whole squad in the tide. Infact, always play with some friends, not only because it is more fun, but also because if you are going for solo que, you are left to the fate of your teammates (for real), resulting in a much more difficult and, again, frustrating experience in order to climb into new ranks.

In conclusion: Overwatch is a really good game, one of the best fps games ever made, but play it with some friends, otherwise it will be an exhausting experience, most of the times (especially in competitive).

Blizzard's addictive and tactical team-based shooter is essential - the character-switching mechanic sweetens the genre. Group up with friends to avoid clueless carnage and enjoy the true game. [Aug 2016, p.82]
