The only people who will purchase this game are casuals who dont even know about the raging microtransaction debate, and people who like to flaunt money, and teens who want to impress other teens by 'how much money they have spent in a game thanks to good old fashioned peer pressure.     At one point gamers are going to have to stop blaming pubs, because you know ? Pubs are business, supply and demand, and SOMEBODY is purchasing this malpractice. Only got your selves to blame. Oh and critics have really shown their real face now..in the back pockets of triple A publisher.

    It is incredibly disheartening to know 2K is willing to lie to their consumers about the product they are releasing. This game shouldn't be on the market.     The game is same as NBA 2K19. Same park same graphics or worst! The gameplay same. They say the new builder is very good but i say not better than any builder. This only an update NBA 2K19.5 not the new NBA 2K20. So wait the next year and hope it will be better... The game actually a Casino game with some basketball. If you have NBA 2K19 don't buy this! Same sh!t.

I really don't like the fact that you can't even play single player game without connection to server and that connection is so often broken, that it is just unacceptable. And all the greedy with these microtransactions make me sick.     The core mechanics of the game are, as always, brilliant. However, in the latter 3 releases I have been forced to limit my experience of game to quick online matches. Both Mycarreer and Myteam are too grindy, and force you either to play all day long or to spend even more real money to stand a chance not to get frustrated. .     I'm currently about 13 hours into playing the game and can say that they're improvements to this years game. My team is grindy as ever, but I do like the implementation and drive for free content for everyone. My career may have the best story since 2K16, throughly enjoyed it. Gameplay is also improved from last year. All in all a fun game just with unfortunate amounts of grinding.

    The game is way more smoother and funnier than the 2k19 . Honestly the neighborhood is fun and allow you to relax with your friends between your matches . The soundtrack is cool . The story so far is very interesting . The gambling stuffs isn't very intrusive. So yup for me it's a deserved 10 . The game is lit !!!

    Another yearly iteration of the only Basketball sim available.
    I enjoyed what I played of it, which was pretty much the career mode which was as contrived, convoluted and cringe-worthy as previous years.
    I always end up overwhelmed by these games with all the game modes and such.
    Micro-transactions have no impact on me what-so-ever because I'm not stupid enough to buy them.

    So far, it feels great to me. As a big basketball fan and somehow who appreciates hardcore simulation play, I notice lots of improvements. If you're looking for a more arcadey experience, this isn't it. You actually to need to be concious of player energy and not abuse the sprint button this year. Also, defense is improved and it's therefore harder to score, but that just means calling plays is more necessary. All in all, it's gotten more realistic and feels even closer to real basketball -- that could be a turnoff to some. And there's some interesting changes like new badges and Evolution cards (love this) in MyTeam.


    As a MyTeam player who doesn't spend any $ on VC, NBA 2k feels worth it to buy every year. I could understand MyCareer feeling like pay to win to some, but, really, it's more like "pay to improve stats faster." You can still play the game the way it's intended and level up your MyPlayer without spending $. I do also agree the company is pretty damn greedy and stuff like product placement is getting really gross... But what am I gonna do, play Live? Good one.    … Expand

    I cant give it anything less. The gameplay is outstanding, I keep coming back for more even if I didn’t have a great game because I always feel like I’m getting better. If you’re new don’t be intimidated, play the way you want and you’ll be successful

    It's the best sports game in the market that offers simulation realistic basketball. Microtransactions don't really affect any of your experience and the game has so much depth into its games modes that makes it fun for a while

    I'll caveat by saying I do not play MyTeam because it has always seemed like a lootbox type game. There were a lot of bugs (a lot with servers especially, I think) at launch, but it seems that has since been fixed and, sadly, that's hardly unique to 2k20.

Notably, defense feels quite different. Lateral quickness is definitely a thing now and slower bigs will get absolutely roasted by quick guards.

    Also, you can pretty much respect your character, for all intents and purposes. The MyPlayer builder lets you see every single stat on the character before you start MyCareer. Also, you can test the build at any level with any badges, so you can get a halfway decent idea of what it will play like, as well as figure out what badges you need. Also, every time you earn a new badge you can go back in and change the badges that you selected previously (at least on my game I can). I'm not sure how much more of a respect you wanted. Of course they aren't going to give you unlimited refunds on VC (no company would do that, I don't think).

    The game is certainly costly, but 2k isn't the only game to use this model. A lot of games now are moving to the grind-or-pay premise. It doesn't bode well for gamers, but it's also not going to change either.    … Expand

The park is the exact same as last year, and the park events are trash, as well as the rewards for completing them. Beating the “Court Conquerer” event rewards you with a measly 5,000 VC and one selection out of a handful of team jerseys for your MyPlayer. Don’t mind the fact that it takes around 180,000 VC to get a MyPlayer to 85 overall. An absolute sh*t show all around and definitely my last 2k as I get ready for starting a career into my step of adulthood.     I know it was bad on release but come on guys it's not worse than 2k18 dont let it be rated lower. Overall just 2k19.5, the real problem was Ronnie2Cap lying, I get people dont like the slot machine either but, be honest with yourself the young 2k audience is very small and from my experience none of them have even touched myteam so let's not act like they're going to get into gamblingI know it was bad on release but come on guys it's not worse than 2k18 dont let it be rated lower.     Ok guys I know I am about 7 months late but here we go... The game is in good shape BUT, I don't know if it's just me, the gameplay has changed. For example, I think it's way more difficult to do dribble moves and I think the shot meter is very slow (and no I do not have a slow jumpshot). My career's story is solid and my team is good.     The Apex of sports games post hot-fix update. Went from unplayable to a master piece. The new mechanics like aim shooting come with a learning curve but after a couple days you'll never look back. Shooting feels smoother than ever, however this 9 rating comes with the assumption shooting online will be patched so that it is fun to play

    Buggy as hell in My Career mode. Somehow 2k have managed to progressively make this game. worse. The worst bit though is the blatant pay to win and locking accessories and such behind a paywall. For a full=price game it's appaling. 2k have become worse than EA, and that's saying something. There's no reason to buy this game every year. It's now largely a Sims simulator with over-priced bling.

Winning the Championship is basically pointless, I don't even remember earning an achievement for it. I sure as hell didn't get any extra VC for it!
    - Any & all online play (excluding "Play Now - Online") is bar far the most laggy glitchy idiot-infested GARBAGE I've seen since dialup internet, you simply cannot enjoy a moment of it. The only reason "Play Now - Online" works is because it's usually only 2-4 players in a private match, instead of the 40+ players that idiotic 2K jams into each lobby on their pathetically worthless servers.
    - I thought MyLeague could be the saving grace after all the previous torture I had endured, but holy crap was I ever wrong! A 100% customizable team/arena/roster/player/etc. should be a dream come true, however after I spent 5.5 hours well into the early morning customizing literally everything suddenly the game said "error: connection interrupted" and returned me to the opening screen without saving any of my settings/stadium/uniforms/etc. At this point I lost my mind and went to bed. I woke up the next day and recreated everything with ferocious rage in my eyes . When I went to save my newly completed arena it gave me a repeating message: "THERE WAS A PROBLEM SAVING THE ARENA. PLEASE TRY AGAIN." Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh wow.

    Uninstalled. Never ever again.

Terrible shooting mechanics, they’ve slowed down the game where diving doesn’t work, they have made the shooting impossible, rebounding goes to better player but not better rebounder, neighborhood is a scam, pro am is a fun concept but ruined by buggy ass **** and my team is pay to me.Haven’t bought a new 2k since 2016 and won’t do it ever again. 2016 was a great year but this blows.     Still have same issue. You can not play a playoff or season with your friends in the same team. You have to choose different teams and you have to play all season from beginning. All they should do is connect people like they are in the same room. Just select controller and play. Whatever game mode you are in.     Worst game they have put out. Defense does not exist. Everyone plays the same cheese way online as well where they know the ai will not pick up the player and slash to an easy dunk or layup. Making changes to your team takes forever and the timer tends to run fast when making changes. Such a horrible game.

What I mean by this you miss a good 80% of your shots wide open up or not. I have 80 on 3pt miss about 90% of them. They had this franchise for so long so how can this franchise be so bad still.     It's a great game the only problem is that it came out with many bugs so had to update it took me a long time to do so with my bad internet. However, the game is good as I remember playing this game 10 years ago and I can say It has improved a lot from then. So this game for me is good if not one of the best sports games I played.

I have gone from buying sports games yearly, to buying used physical copies of a particular sport every 3-5 years.     NBA 2k19 has some incredibly fun modes and gameplay, but it’s hampered down by an insane amount of pressure to make micro transactions (is it even “micro” if they want me to spend $50 all the time?) and comes off like a passive aggressive attack against their customers. While 2k claims they are making VC easier to earn, they can only claim this due to a deceptive change to the game. ForNBA 2k19 has some incredibly fun modes and gameplay, but it’s hampered down by an insane amount of pressure to make micro transactions (is it even “micro” if they want me to spend $50 all the time?) and comes off like a passive aggressive attack against their customers. While 2k claims they are making VC easier to earn, they can only claim this due to a deceptive change to the game. For example, last year $10 worth of VC only get a MyPlayer up to a 67 or 68, but this year, you can get it well into the 70s. However, they only lowered the cost of lower level VC. . You'll STILL need 200k VC, or $50 worth, in order to go from a 60 to 85, exact,y the same as 2k19, which is a difficuly task for an adult like myself who works 40 hours a week and has a family. Once again, The MyCareer path could have easily been called 'Return to the Grind” or simply, “give us your money mode.' This doesn’t even get into the casino elements that nearly everyone on here is complaining about (and justifiably, they’re right).

    Once you get passed the VC issues, the game is still fun in some ways. The new MyCareer story mode took a step back this year, but it’s not as cringe as 2k15-2k18. I wish they’d just focus on making a better MyCareer game then some a rather boring pre-NBA movie. I don’t think 2K has realized that players don’t care nearly as much about their characters BEFORE they enter the NBA, so maybe they’ll fix that in future games. I loved that they added the WNBA this year and hope they’ll expand it next year. They also fixed the “teammate” grading system from last year, making it much more fair. I also like some of the balance tuning they made to shooting.

    Overall, NBA 2K is a fun game that is hindered by it's desire to take the absolutely every penny they can get From it’s most devoted fans. I don’t hate 2k, I love them, basketball is my favorite sport and my hobby in many ways, I just wish 2k could take a step back and realize that their fangs are unhappy for a reason.    … Expand

    My Career mode.....Wide open...brick....wide open.....brick. Pick and roll? Nah the AI sticks to you like glue and your character has no passive animation to move around your teammates. No you just run in place while hitting a brick wall whether it be a teammate or opponent. Also still no rookie mode for a filthy casual like me plus literal gambling in the game. This game is trash.

    As a basketball normie, this games gives me what I want. I get to throw a ball through a hoop and do it again and again. And that's great, because that's just about the only thing you can do without having to pay for it. If I hadn't paid like 6$ for this game I would have given it a much lower score.

    Fix the sharpshooter badge! It’s broken. Also, none of the problems of past 2k games such as it forcing you out of bounds/backcourt, stupidly contested shots, and how you can’t actually do anything permanent for your player at the Gatorade gym. Terrible game

    This game is rated E which it definitely isn't,It has gambling features inside and sometimes really id not about basketball at all.Children shouldn't play this game and all the companies who have been participated in rating this game should be fined.and of course the game itself hasn't changed a lot and crashes.
