    Not much has changed, poor AI, poor gameplay and immersion feels as deep as a puddle. This is far from a simulation experience which is what EA is marketing for this series. Since introduction of MUT this game gets worse each year. MUT has ruined this game.

    For this to be a triple A title and represent one of the if not the biggest sport in America they do a terrible job at it EA has completely disgraced and stained the name of the nfl by representing it with this game, for them to hold the exclusive rights to simulation football they are absolutely horrible at it and the worst part is that there oblivious to it, the gameplay at a basic levelFor this to be a triple A title and represent one of the if not the biggest sport in America they do a terrible job at it EA has completely disgraced and stained the name of the nfl by representing it with this game, for them to hold the exclusive rights to simulation football they are absolutely horrible at it and the worst part is that there oblivious to it, the gameplay at a basic level has never been good or borderline ok sure graphics look cool but even they are nothing to good compared to other sports game, the customization of players and gear is so dead toned and one dimensional that doesn’t cone any shape or form close to representing the diversity in the nfl and doesn’t come close to matching 2ks customization inn a 2k, the modes are nothing new with superstar kk being choppy and paste same with MUT as you can’t do much to improve it but they somehow found a way to make it worse than years pass with if you truly wanting to be the best you must pay up for cards that aren’t really rare but are just expensive, franchise mode is a mode that is nothing but bones and dust as EA has completely neglected it to the point of it becoming a hashtag on twitter, the mode is nothing compared to what it was back even on the older maddens of past console generations it is completely unacceptable for it to regress so much since they own the exclusive right to Simulation football, face of the franchise is a corny and a one dimension experience with no matter what you do things will always play out the same way we asked for the nfl combine but all we got was a 40 yard dash that is a brainless run and a few pass drills that ther my ripped straight from tutorial , the yard was probably the only bright spot if this game with some actual potential but after about 2days the game is bland and the spark of something new is gone and you realize it’s just there to to say that it’s there, mi biggest issue comes with the fact that it’s a complete example of how tone deaf EA is they added so much customization to the yard exclusive my and some decent variations to players body’s and size but completely left it out of the rest of the game, this is the breaking point for me the nfl needs to completely hit reset and clear the board and invite in other publishers to test out what they can do because it’s clear EA at this point can not provide a game that can even be somewhat decent… Expand

Among other things, chew clock only works HALF of the time, the college storyline decisions don’t matter in the end, they still refuse to update franchise mode, and the QB still fumbles like crazy. I can’t wait until there’s another company giving it pressure because these mofos are just coasting.… Expand

    I signed up for an account here just to review how trash this edition of Madden and every edition of Madden since 2k8 have been (considering they're all the same game). The coders at EA are trash, and are using a gaming engine (frostbite) that wasn't even written with sports in mind. Its trash, and you're trash if you think otherwise.

    Absolutely terrible, the last madden game I’ve played is Madden 10, and the gameplay got worse, it’s missing tons of game modes, and the life of the game is gone. A shame.

    This is a horrible game it is a mess. Ea is lazy to fix bugs. This game is atrocious. Same game as Madden 20, which was a bad game. Franchise mode has been the same for years. An atrocious football simulation game. EA has greatly expanded the number of game modes in Madden over the past couple of years at the detriment to the depth and immersion of all modes in the game.

    How do you possibly describe the gross incompetence of the makers of this game? How do you describe this game at all? The only thing that comes to mind is two words “stupendously atrocious” I am actually impressed at how they continue to put out the same copy and pasted garbage every year. Ultimate team is a mess. What what a rush! You just paid $100 for a virtual card! You can spend a grand on this game right now and in 2 months all the players you buy will be devalued and obsolete. Just a poor business model imo. I understand some of you will say hey “don’t play it if you don’t like it” he’ll I most definitely won’t be playing this garbage heap any longer. Every year. Same thing. It doesn’t end there though. The yard is kind of fun for an arcade game mode but the out this crap in and don’t fix any of the issues people have been bringing to their attention for years. The Ai system is horrific, players go through each other, “Face of the franchise” is the worst damn story mode you will ever play in any game with the most bizarre story line. Who the hell writes this stuff? Franchise mode is the same garbage as well. They refuse to do anything fresh like something similar to my park in 2k... It is the same copy and pasted game with an few little cosmetic add ons. The madden dev team should be ashamed. They even tell people “you guys don’t know what your talking about it’s not that easy” in regards to fixing the game. Really? You are professionals not children. This is your job.     It's the same exact game that we've played for 10 years. Glitches everywhere, non-simulation gameplay, animation based, doesn't contain features from older games, franchise is copy-pasted. They live for MUT which is a trash gambling experience with the most atrocious football gameplay I've ever experienced.

It is the same exact game as Madden 20, as M20 was the same as M19, etc. If X-Factors players, a yard based game mode, and a weak story line mode is the ONLY new things coming to the series for the last 4 years, with minimal on field tweaks... how is that acceptable to anyone? Maybe once they show love to the most popular game mode, then they'll recover a little bit of reputation. But until then, no one should buy another Madden game

    Buggy, broken gameplay. Recycled content. Very few new features. It literally took 20 minutes of gameplay before encountering a game breaking bug where thr ball was hiked and just floated behind the line while all players from both teams tried in vain to recover it. Horrible. Steer clear.

From the constant glitches/ lagging, to the constant force quit the game does, to the fact that I can’t get past week 3 in franchise mode w/o the game crashing, to seeing the same game recycled for over 5 years with slight(emphasis on slight) additions each year, to seeing videos online of ppl finding Madden 19 & 20 logos IN Madden 21. It’s literally SOOOOO many places to begin and SOOOOO many problems that need to unpacked. For years, each madden has lacked individuality from each other to the point where each madden that comes out is just seen as a roster update. Granted, the addition of “the yard” was an excellent idea that has potential, but with the crashing, it’s almost impossible to play. Why aren’t there more customizations for created players(i.e. more hairstyles like dreadlocks or facial hair styles like full beards; more customization of gear for created players in franchise mode). Its sad that EA continues to put out mediocre content because they know people will buy it. I truly don’t think they care about the games they make. That’s why NBA Live was cancelled indefinitely because they don’t put in effort into their content. Maybe 2K Sports should just take over making video games for the NFL again because EA Sports is literally limping to the barn with the games they’ve been making for YEARS. Before Madden 20 and 21 the last Madden I bought was madden 25 I’m thankful I was able to save my money all those years in between. I really feel bad for the younger kids who saved their money or didnt ask for anything else from their parents(DURING A PANDEMIC) just to buy a game they you can barely play and is just a copy of the last edition. EA needs to pass the torch to somebody who’ll do Madden justice and they can stick to FIFA, UFC, and whatever else because this is honestly atrocious.… Expand

    The simulation football modes are the exact same and hasn't been touched. In other words, the 60 dollars you paid for the offline experience is no different than Madden 20, 19, 18 and 17. Franchise hasn't been touched in almost a decade. Madden is now an arcade game built upon micro transactions.

This is horrific and ea should lose the rights to the nfl. They should also drop frostbite as I believe it to be the worst gaming engine I have ever had the displeasure of playing on.     Same game as madden 20, but with more microtransactions, Franchise mode still sucks and hasnt been updated in almost a decade. If you have madden 19 or 20, just download the rosters and draft class. Your wallet will thank you.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly I've only played this game for about 1 hour and I already want to frisbee this disc into the Pacific Ocean. That would be more entertaining anyways. The bugs require a damn exterminator at this point, the O-lineman block each other more often than they block an opposing defender. Animations are somehow even more rampant than they were last year. There is no point in getting the game if you're not a fan of Ultimate Team. FOTF is The Room levels of horrible writing, Yard is just a flimsy attempt of "competing" with 2K and The Show. Franchise, the mode that should be the bread and butter of a supposed NFL Simulation game, is the exact copy and paste same as the last couple of years. It's even worse because draft prospects are so much less likely to have a hidden development trait, which was the sole purpose of me playing the game last year. Announcers are still recycled and boring as all hell, kickers are nerfed, they can't get player names, ages, or contract lengths right. I heard an announcer say that I was about to head into super bowl 23. The NFL Regular season can't come sooner, because this game has me Jonesing for some actual, real life football.… Expand

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.
