you do anything else than collect scrap in this game? I got to the game hoping for action with clear goals just what mad max is all about, but after 3 hours into the game i was still just collecting scrap for chum to upgrade my car. Where is the fun?

WTF did I just play? That's how I felt about my journey with this AAA title. The narrative leaves a lot to be desired but in this day of gaming it only matters if the turd is polished and is illuminated. Maybe some of these developers/publishers need to pick up Hotline Miami to see how a sub-par graphic game can shine among even the best AAA titles.

Tedious, bug ridden and not remotely fun to play, its time for Avalance to admit that they just don't have what it takes to code 8th gen games and refocus on marketing their quite competent game engine to companies who understand gaming thats fun.

I gave this game over 5 hours to try to get me invested and all it did was bore me to tears. Nothing to do and even the story missions were pointless and tedious. The buildup in this game is perhaps the slowest and most boring I've ever seen in any game I've ever played, and it was when the game started introducing base building and worthless side missions on top of all the other useless things the game straight up wouldn't allow me to do despite tutorializing them that I gave up and deleted it. It also doesn't help that the control scheme was designed by someone whose last console experience was on the N64, the UI is confusing and doesn't tell you how to do anything, and the open world is one single color and has absolutely nothing interesting in it. Just painfully boring and its only saving grace is that I didn't have to spend any money on it because it was free for PS+. Expand

Not a very bad game but the story and characters couldn't make me interested.

You can't platinum this game because of discontinued servers, which basically makes the "Up to the task" trophy unobtainable. So if you like to finish your games all the way through, I suggest you stay way clear of this game! (1/10 instead of 0/10 because it's not a bad game in itself)

Never buy an Avalanche Studios game. They release broken, and often impossible to complete, and are never, ever patched. This is a terrible studio that needs to be severely punished for its hostile business practices. Too bad, too, because Mad Max is a halfway decent game worthy of a 7, and was fun until it broke - which is the point. A game that breaks the way this game breaks, the way Just Cause games break, in becoming unplayable and broken in ways that never get fixed and for a very significant amount of players - deserves a 0 score, and 0 of your dollars. The best open world games nowadays are an expansion of the form, but Mad Max is highly regressive in far too many areas to be meaningful.

Mad Max used its imagery well, and as a sandbox game, it's thematically pretty coherent. I actually liked this more than GTA V: driving around is more exiting, and Batman-style fist fighting is more fun than Gears of GTA -cover shootouts. [Oct 2015]

A functional open world game, Mad Max captures none of what makes its source material great. Missions are uninteresting, the world is dead and there are next to no damn car chases. [Issue#262, p.64]
