It also doesn't help that the control scheme was designed by someone whose last console experience was on the N64, the UI is confusing and doesn't tell you how to do anything, and the open world is one single color and has absolutely nothing interesting in it. Just painfully boring and its only saving grace is that I didn't have to spend any money on it because it was free for PS+. Expand

This is one of those "me too" games that can't even pull that off very well. This is a bad cross between GTA and the Batman Arkham series. Too much of the boring crap and nothing of any significance to make it compelling...just another "meh" game at best. What a waste of the license. So much potential wasted...

Car combats are silly, since your enemies just hit their cars against yours, and thats it.

Story is really, really bad. Actually there is no story at all for most part of the game, since most of the main story quests will be "collect scraps to upgrade your car".

Graphics are the best part of the game. The wasteland is huge and beautiful to watch, but I just realized I was spending more time taking pictures in the photo mode than actually enjoying the gameplay.

Despite being beautiful, there is not enough to do in the wasteland. That makes a bad combination with the stupid main quests that won't let you advance unless you upgrade your car. For example, at some point my main quest was to collect 300 scraps. So I went looking for scraps. After I just found an outpost, defeated 10 enemies, all I got was 40 scraps. Guess what, there won't be any scraps sources nearby, then I had to drive gain untill I found more 20 scraps. Repeat. Then I realized I was driving and driving for more than one hour looking for scraps.

Next mission: I had to find another base that I could use to upgrade my car. When I found that base, then here comes next mission: collect 200 scraps to upgrade your car. Thats Mad Max for you.

The game is really lazy. Nowadays some developers are just using the "open world" term to sell games, without putting effort in creating a unique experience. I have to admit I'm one of those guys that gets excited when you can freely explore a huge world, but Mad Max is boring and lifeless.

Just a forgettable game released in 2015. Get this one on sale if you are willing to give it a try.

Boring as hell, the sand storms are the dumbest mechanic you could add to a game and it's all identical, you just repeat the same 3 things ad infinitum, the game tries to make you play secondary missions which are even more of a giant waste of time, making you repeat the same thing for hours. All mechanics are made so that you waste one more second of your time to this piece of junk. It's also buggy, the console can't render the graphics for **** making for cutscenes where the characters have big areas of the same colour instead of details. It's overall unpolished and the commands are confusing, with r2 to run, l2 to jump, O to shoot the gun (of which losing a round is a rather big deal).
Again, it's painfully built on the idea that it really wants you to spend time doing nothing. To take something from the ground you have to wait a couple of seconds, to talk with a guy you have to wait a couple of seconds for the conversation even to start, to have markers on the map you have to spend five minutes of a montgolfier slowly going to the air, you selecting every single marker you see and it going back down. The combat is pressing the same button for 15 minutes with a rare second button to keep pressed to win any fight ever.

I guess people really need an excuse to throw their time away doing nothing and they really like it. That or marketers have put quite the effort into making this look appreciated, notice how all 10 points reviews are from 1 and 2 september. I also saw them on other sites, claiming this to be the greatest game ever after not even a day of it coming out.

Mad Max is a shallow and boring game based on the eponymous film franchise.

Mad Max is another open world game based on the infamous Ubisoft formula, as seen in game series such as Far Cry and Assassin's Creed. There are balloons to elevate in order to reveal portions of the map, camps to take down so as to reduce the enemy presence in an area, and tons of places to loot for scrap (the game's currency).

But here lies the problem, the scrap economy is broken. If you just want to complete the main quests and avoid the side content, you can't do that because story missions are locked behind requirements that need to be met, and you need scrap to proceed. So much scrap, indeed. The rate by which you gain scrap is much slower than you need in order to upgrade Max and his car, so you have to grind a lot if you want to progress (it helps if you take enemy camps down, you get free scrap every 20 minutes or so). If the story progress wasn't locked down this way, you could finish the main missions in a few hours, but whatever story there is, it's forgettable and meh. In terms of open world games standards, Mad Max's content is below average, and inflated with so much repetitive side content (it's not even side QUESTS, as you just have to shoot down snipers, clear minefields, or destroy scarecrows out in the desert).

At least the core gameplay is a bit of fun. The melee combat system is clearly inspired by the Batman Arkham games but lacks their fluidity and rhythm. The vehicular combat is another focus of the game, driving a car is nice but it's frustrating when you are confronting 2 or more enemy vehicles at the same time. Resources in the Wasteland are scarce, so you have to manage the water you drink, the fuel your car burns, and your ammo, but these will never create a serious problem.

The best part of the game is the atmosphere. The artists captured the feeling of the Wasteland and its crazed inhabitants, the post-apocalyptic world and the accompanying madness are shown in all their decadent glory. There is also a bizarrely funny AI partner in the form of Chumbucket, a deformed mechanic who repairs the car and issues some missions for Max.

All in all, Mad Max is a game that can only be played when you have nothing else or better to play. If you like the Mad Max movies you'll probably appreciate this game a bit more, but trust me you are better off watching the movies instead. Or play some other fantastic game, there are plenty of those on the market.

Big Mistake, the intro of the game feels awkward and is completely linear, i felt like most of it could have been done differently, for example the intro fighting scene could have been the way to teach the player how to fight. Still I drove on and dived deeper into the game. The best i can say is that it is incredibly bland, completely mediocre, if you have played, assassin's creed, arkham knight or farcry, you've already played this game, multiple times. It brings nothing to the table, absolutely nothing. The graphics are ok, the skybox and the wasteland look amazing, very realistic, and have beautiful colors and you can get some very impressive sights. On the other hand, the character textures and structures, look dated, like textures from the previous generation of consoles.

I regret buying this game, it is not terrible, but i feel cheated, it feels like a copy paste from other modern sandboxes, the story is crappy and poorly written, after playing it for 4 hours i just cannot bring myself to start this game again on my PS4 :(

Take all the cool things about Just Cause, water them down, add a bunch of continuity errors and characters you don't care about and call it Mad Max and that's this game. I beat it in six days, got it via Gamefly just to try it and it was barely worth the slot in my queue.

    A disappointment.
The game Mad Max is just as disappointing as the movie. He has a lot of action but the important story is only incidental. You play it and then leaves it lying in the corner without ever again to remember. That's too lame undrückständig.
Players with little claim can still lure but I'm already bored.

Its gameplay mainly revolves around melee combat (with a fighting system inspired by Rocksteady's Batman games) and car battles.

Unfortunately, the game is boring and extremely repetitive. The main story is very short (spanning over only a couple of hours) and not very interesting, and once you're done with it (and the side quests known as "Wasteland Missions"), there's not much left to do, except mindlessly looting the 200+ scavenging locations scattered around the map and clearing the various enemy camps to gain control of them.

This game loop is similar to what you can find in Just Cause, but here it's way worse. In spite of the repetitivity, JC3 was still fun to play, with the dozens of possibilities offered by the Grappling Hook, the vehicles, the weapons, etc. Mad Max, on the other hand, lacks that variety and that fun. The fighting system, while decent, quickly gets old as you're always fighting the same enemies throughout the whole game. Even the "Top Dogs" (sorts of mini-bosses) are all the same and not even threatening. Besides, the car battle system is boring and you'll be glad to get the Thunderpoon weapon (that allows you to easily destroy enemy vehicles) to avoid those combats entirely.

The atmosphere and imagery of the game are good and well done, but once again, things are very repetitive. Most of the world map looks the same, with a lot of sand, a couple of mountains and not much else. Of course, it's a good rendition of the Mad Max universe, but more variety would have been nice.

To sum things up, this Mad Max game is not a horrible game, but it's certainly not a good game either, and I would not recommend it : it's just an extremely repetitive open world game that becomes boring after just a few hours.
