    The Good:
    Beautiful environment, chaotic car combat, great world building

    The Bad:
    Repetitive fetch quests, shallow hand-to-hand combat, inconsistent difficulty

    Verdict:
    Good, not great. Mad Max is fun albeit pure fluff. Worth playing if you're a fan.

    one of the best single player experiences i have had this year... i just don't know why this game gets poor ratings from other reviewing sites ... i am just loving this game .. combat is great almost identical to batman arkham trilogy .. visuals are great... driving is good too... but .. jump button feels a bit awkward ,,,

    A game the height of the Mad Max series, breakneck combat both on foot and in vehicle direction. Beautiful graphics and landscapes that yield good pictures. Live and intriguing universe. Although some physical errors and short story , the game provides hours of fun and worth every penny. Recommend!

    Mad Max was created with hardcore fans in mind. Tons of useful upgrades and scrap that help you build your Magnum Opus in an extremely bleak world. You may find yourself overwhelmed at first by the games Map and all the side quests, but it seems just about everything you do comes with some kind of reward, big and small. Some players may be disappointed just sticking with the main storyMad Max was created with hardcore fans in mind.     I had low expectations-- was just looking for a time-filler until the next big thing (MGS, apparently)-- but I have thoroughly enjoyed Mad Max and spent many happy weekends roaming the desert and blowing stuff up.
    Only minor complaints: yes, it gets a bit repetitive but only after many, MANY hours in, and button arrangement could have been tweaked.     Pretty good game that pleasantly surprised me. Driving and fighting feels good. Story is badass.

    Don't really understand the mixed reviews of this - this game was immensely fun and the attention to detail of George Miller's world is just outstanding! It's visceral, brutal and the driving mechanics are brilliant! Some of it can be rough around the edges and the story isn't all interesting but the amount of technical heart that has gone into this makes it worth a recommendation.

    It's one of those games like MGS5,Ubisoft games where there's a huge map but you are basically repeating chores over and over without any effort into creating a story driven narrative. Once you get used to the novelty of the visuals, it's extremely dull

A simple story but in keeping with the universe to which it belongs, I especially liked the setting of several of the dungeons to explore in secondary missions or to find new parts for the car, with a dark and terrifying atmosphere.     This was the first ps4 video game i have ever played and it was a blast. Mad Max at first may look boring, but at the end it surely gives you a feel, that your precious time that you have spend on this game was worth it. Graphics are great, the story is suprisingly good (btw the latest movie had no plot what so ever), and gameplay is fun.     Another open world game of rinse and repeat. The repetition is mind boggling and depth is shallow. It is worth a play for the desert environments and driving alone, without the distractions. The game will become a bargain bin game sooner than later.

    An underrated fun game. When i bought this game i was expecting a game where you drive around and do stuff along some car combat mechanics, and it is exactly that. Al-tough it may get repetitive for those that want to complete the game 100%, for me it never got old. Taking camps, scarecrows and looking for collectibles is fun, and the main story is enjoyable.     This game was cruelly underrated on release and deserves to be played, yes it borrows off other games but it so much fun you soon ignore its failings , please ignore the poor scores on here and search out a copy , and here's hoping to a sequel.

    The game local for a desert does look very beautiful and the lighting is gorgeous. The post apocalyptic game world consists of backwards tribalism full of new age mysticism. So the game lore comes across weird and strange, but in a interesting way.

    I have seen this melee style of combat done before and better in Batman Arkham games. It takes a lot to get me into a third person and/or driving games these days. The scenic driving and car combat was fun. The melee combat worked, but nothing woo hoo.

    The overall game was a lot of doing the same stock stuff over and over again, but with more added intensity the further I progressed. I personally never got bored, because I was always seeing new locations when doing the same stuff. The map is huge and for a desert it had many a new nook and cranny to explore. The scripted end game BS was kind of annoying, but they wanted to push that cinematic look.

    Some small bugs and a few annoying glitches which led to very cheap deaths. Poorly optimized at times on the legacy PS4. With very bad slow downs in the frame rate when several cars are on screen. I had a lot of fun with this game, but the technical problems do effect the score.    … Expand

    You can't platinum this game because of discontinued servers, which basically makes the "Up to the task" trophy unobtainable. So if you like to finish your games all the way through, I suggest you stay way clear of this game! (1/10 instead of 0/10 because it's not a bad game in itself)

    Good game. It's a shame, there won't be the second one because the gameplay is strong and visuals, while not technically ideal, are artfully and immersive. We would only need a bit better story and a little more complication in fighting and looting (f*cking scraps...). Kudos to people who had developed it. You were just unlucky with unfair reviews.

Not following any of the movies, but taking a little from each film and making an original game is what the developers have done. The cars are accurate to the films and it is Maxes goal to reacquire his stolen interceptor. To do this he has to build an even more sinister car and defeat many gangs throughout the game. The missions can be repetitive, however it becomes addictive just to upgrade your car so you bear with it and keep playing. The story is average and could have been so much more, with the ending being very jarring. It is sad that the game was not more of a success as they would have made a sequel for sure. I don't have much to complain about this game, if anything I would say that there are many other vehicles, but they was never really a reason to use them as the one you are building is so much better. I would have loved to see more missions with other vehicles and perhaps missions where your dog goes with you.

    I feel this game will be a cult hit in the future and hope the devs revisit it again. Just need to utilize more of the map by including fleshed out missions and they would have had a winner perhaps a AAA game.    … Expand

    Great fun, stellar graphics on the PS4, fantastic customization and upgrade mechanics, vast and scenic open world, decent story, perfect survival mechanics, brilliant gameplay. Definitely worth buying, one of the best games I've played all year.

    Fun game, really beautiful. only thing that kinda sucks is the controls/movement of max, he can't climb simple things he should be able to other than i really enjoy the game.

    Everything about this game is great except for how repetitive it is. Doing the same missions over and over again mad bored of the game halfway through. The car combat was suprisingly great and the other gadgets the car had were impressive and plentiful.

    Я считал секунд, когда она закончится. Безумно нудная и максимально мертвая. ОТкрытый мир один из худших что я видел.

I acknowledge that it seems underrated by the critics, Here, we have a game with a nice upgrading system, good driving mechanics, good shooting and also decent fighting. The gameplay is really fluid and smooth. I also really enjoyed the graphics and the unique vibe this game has. I would say that Mad Max is easier than most other PS4 games I playedThis game is really good for sure ! It means that this game is not frustrating (especially if you don't rush the main story and complete a few strongholds in order to upgrade properly).

    However, there is an important lack of diversity in the different strongholds that appear on the map (they all look the same). So, I can't recommend a 100% playthrough but I would say that if you complete the main story and do..let's say...half of the optional quests, you should have a great time with this game.

    We can easily compare this game to Far Cry and Assassin's Creed because of the open world design.

    I ranked this game 10 because I think this title deserves more credit. It has a good open world atmosphere. You can see a devastating sand storm coming your way and then you have to run for your life and take shelter. It has a very nice graphics, fair story, nice combat system, and very fun car combat.

    Mad Max used its imagery well, and as a sandbox game, it's thematically pretty coherent. I actually liked this more than GTA V: driving around is more exiting, and Batman-style fist fighting is more fun than Gears of GTA -cover shootouts. [Oct 2015]
