    A really great game letdown with an non existant story. I personally really enjoyed my time with this game, until the repetitiveness kicked in hard. The game features an open world litterred with stuff to destroy and camps to clear, side missions, collectibles, etc. Game play revolves driving around in an post apocalyptic with your own custom car and a combat that is like batman. The best part about this game was the open world, it feels authentic and lived in, i loved driving around, even the smallest camps has diverse and interesting set ups. The hand to hand combat was simple and addicting (Same with car). Driving was very fluid. Now the story brought this game down a lot, without spoiling anything it felt lazy and uninspired, which was a shame. The repetetive nature will also kick in at some point, luckily for me it didn't happen until probably the 20 hour mark. To, end it felt like Ubisoft decicded to make Rage 2, and it's really good. Pros: masterpiece of an open world, addicting gameplay. So-So= can get repetitive for some very quick, overly simple combat mechanics. The cons= non existant story… Expand

    Great game, big open world with many things to do, brutal combat, smooth gameplay with nice visuals. Havent had so much fun in a game since years. Recommended.

    I just finished upgrading my first base (Jeet's) completely and man was it exhilarating and fulfilling!!

    I played this game after being turned off by Arkham Knight's boring combat and atmosphere/characters (im not a Batman fan). I thought Mad Max was gonna be the same but boy was I wrong!! This game, THIS game is like Fallout on STEROIDS. I love the post-apocalypse world, the    I just finished upgrading my first base (Jeet's) completely and man was it exhilarating and fulfilling!!

    This game, THIS game is like Fallout on STEROIDS. I love the post-apocalypse world, the landscape, skybox, is SOOOO beautiful and majestic. Just driving around doing missions/tasks is therapeutic. Avalanche has created a magnificent world in Mad Max. Astounding graphics! And i dont generally like driving in games but boy oh boy am I having a blast speeding across the sand dunes.

    Oh and the combat. My God is it addictive! I can feel the weight behind every meaty punch, dropkick and bodyslam that Max rains down on his enemies. It feels completely superior to Arkham Knight's floaty and easy combat. In Mad Max, momentum and direction matters if you want to pull off perfect combos. Seriously, to me, the combat never gets old and I in fact always look forward to the next combat sequence. It's THAT good!!

    Car combat is absolutely fun! It reminds me of Twisted Metal/Road Rash/Carmageddon. Like the fist combat, car combat never gets old. Every time it feels like Destruction Derby. Friggin awesome!

    The story is also interesting so far though at the time of this review, I have not finished the game. Im maybe 25-30% done but i just felt compelled to write one right away as the game is sooo good! I played like 10hrs, fell in love with the game, had the itch to rewatch Mad Max Fury Road, did that and it made the game feel even more ALIVE! As if Max came from the end of the movie right into the game as some sort of continuation. I'll be updating this review once Im done with the game but after 20+ hrs and still at the first base, I can safely say Mad Max will blow my expectations away.

    Hoping for a Mad Max 2. Well done Avalanche! Although, funny enough, I hated the Just Cause series.    … Expand

    Well made atmosphere, only negative thing i say that missions are repetitive after some point but overall, worth the price. A good surprise from warner and interactive studios.

    Главный вопрос такой, кому и зачем нужно было такое количество однообразных активностей на карте? Места поживы можно было сократить, разминирование вообще убрать, пугала, уничтожение катапульт, автомобилей со взрывчаткой вообще не интересно выполнять, раскопка лома и прочее не нпсишные задания то же, все это очень сильно утомляет. Гонки полностью проигнорировал ибо и так уже устал от игры.Главный вопрос такой, кому и зачем нужно было такое количество однообразных активностей на карте?     Лучше бы сосредоточились на классных лагерях, которые довольно интересно исследовать, если бы еще и лут был, кроме лома и построек, было б вообще отлично. Боевки не хватает разнообразия, стычкам и мини боссам вариативности.

    Есть ряд бесячих моментов, типа того где не отмечен желтой краской проход на вышку, или ночная миссия которая не берется днем, мне пришлось ждать час реального времени, пока солнце за горизонт не уйдет. В наличии пропадающая миссия Призраки прошлого, если ты вместо сюжета, зачисткой занялся и убежал, и пещерка с погребенной тачкой не откроется. Еще баг с непроходимым заданием по уничтожению машин со взрывчаткой все еще на месте, это с финальным патчем в игре 2015 года окей. Во второй половине игра немного подтормаживает, а шторм такой громкий что каждый раз приходится убавлять громкость.

    Но оценка все равно высокая, ибо атмосфера и клевые виды, интересное исследование и собирашки, боевка генерит зрелищные моменты (пока вы от них не устанете), кататься врезаться и взрывать машинки то же прикольно(пока вы и от этого не устанете), немного напоминает Кармагедон и Твистет Метал. Прокачка тоже мотивирует. Сюжет и персонажи колоритные.

    Вообщем не ожидал что на игру уйдет 80 часов. Думал будет что то похожее на Средеземье. Вообщем понравилось. 8 из 10.    … Expand

    This is the best game I played on my PS4 so far. Amazing graphics, pure wasteland atmosphere, good mix of driving, fighting, upgrading etc. Story develops during the game-play as your skills. Open world with no restriction, good for exploring, levelling up in advance. I would definitely recommend this one.

    Amazing game!! Great story, gameplay,graphics, everything.The world is huge and full of fun things to do, and everything is done with an impressive polish and atention to detail. This game balances on foot combat,looting and exploration with veicular racing and destruction in an unique and amazing way. Those critcs must be all retards.

Fun vehicle and hand to hand combat, large open world, upgrading Max and your car is also very fun and addictive. I have already invested over 40 hours, and none of it have been boring. Story is not too shabby, but the gameplay is what matters more in a game.

    I just purchased Mad Max new for $20 after selling Red Dead Redemption 2 used for $20. I enjoyed the graphical and narrative depth of RDR2, the ridiculous level of detail is insane, but I just couldn't commit the massive amounts of time required to complete the often times, very mundane objectives and gameplay. I liked it, I liked it a lot actually, but I wasn't having fun playing it. RDR2I just purchased Mad Max new for $20 after selling Red Dead Redemption 2 used for $20. RDR2 felt tedious more than it felt fun, and this was always one of my grievances with the otherwise brilliant Death Stranding. Mad Max was a game I wanted since it came out 8 years ago. That may seem like a long time ago but consider Grand Theft Auto V and Skyrim are nearly 13 years old. So I came across a rare instance of Mad Max brand new and finally decided to purchase it. Holy crap am I an idiot for not buying it sooner. This game is a masterpiece! The upgrade options are awesome as are how you earn them. I don't know what else to say, but this game truly seems amazing so far and the story is fine for what it is thus far along with some intense cut scenes. Good job Avalanche, great game engine too, lets hope Just Cause 3 can be just as good because Just Cause 2 was not my cup of tea that's for sure, but these developers do have some good talent there.     Great take on the Mad Max franchise. I don't really understand the hate! Is this game fun? Yes. Is it rewarding? of course! Car combat is sweet and the weather effects are incredible. It's not perfect but it's a lot better than what the critics are saying. 9/10

    I LOVE this game. If you really enjoyed the films, you're going to love the game. Sure, it's a bit overwhelming and repetitive sometimes but it's such a visual treat. The wasteland and gameplay (IMO) are fantastic. The only issue I had was the lack of diversity in side missions. Also the first time I upgraded a base fully, I felt fulfilled. Then I saw they wanted me to do the same thingI LOVE this game. If you really enjoyed the films, you're going to love the game. This is achieved by the fact that all locations, and I mean ALL of them, are completely different. Basically, you never feel like you have done the sameMad Max is absolutely a great game.     This is the beauty of this game, and what makes it so enjoyable.

    The combat system is also great, but requires some getting used to. While it is a rhythm-based combat system akin to Batman games, there are clear tactics for each enemy horde on how to beat them clean, or get beaten up. Every fight also feels a bit different from the next one, even if there are only a handful of different enemies.

    Driving is marvelous, and extremely responsive. Weaponry on the cars is highly enjoyable to use as well.

    Lastly, it is Mad Max.

    It really is difficult to find anything negative to say about this game, except that I want more of it.

    This game deserves a 9 but due to game-halting bug in one of the story missions I give it an 8. While this game may be similar to other WB games, this game is far better than Batman, but not quite as good as The Witcher 3. If you like games that offer a decent story and tons of things to do that are challenging and fun, I recommend this game as at least a rental if not a purchase.     for £20 at the time i bought the game it was worth every penny .,., a sort of sandbox with an arcade free ,., not the longest of games took about a week or less to finish ,., but it was solid fun from start to finish .
    Upgrade your car but exploring & fighting through the map then beast down the remains of the highway in the wasteland in your new automobile ,., pretty good indeed

    i can see the complaints from main stream reviews - copies batmans amazing combat - copies farcry 3 on the side of base and map completion- so it didnt bring any thing new to the table- BUT it brought it very well polished and in the mad max universe- this game plays great the story that is here is enough to push you through the grindyness but what post apocalypse game is not grindy?     All thought the game is great it still has flaws. This game puts you with Mad max who lost all his stuff and you are building back to up to better stuff (that's what i understood about the story). What are the pros? The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is amazing, Car combat is almost perfect, how mad max was portrayed and the side activities keep you up for a long time.The flaws TheAll thought the game is great it still has flaws. This game puts you with Mad max who lost all his stuff and you are building back to up to better stuff (that's what i understood about the story). What are the pros? The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is amazing, Car combat is almost perfect, how mad max was portrayed and the side activities keep you up for a long time.The flaws The story is absolutely horrendous made me bored and I got distracted by doing side activities, Side-missions are repetitive and also boring glitches in this game actuallly bother the game and my experience. And I don't just mean in game via the incredibly wild dust storms, but by the fantastically well designed and executed game-play; the amazing vast and varied wide open world; the gorgeously detailed and moody graphics; the cast of intriguing colorful characters and vehicles; and the brilliantly designed leveling-up and progression systems. Additionally, as a long time fan of the Mad Max movies, I can tell you that this game hits all the right notes. The vehicles and character designs are spot-on; the atmosphere is spot-on; the environment is spot on and Mad Max himself is spot-on.     I feel the critic score doesn't do this game justice. While they are correct that the game doesn't add anything new to the open world genre, that does not mean there is no fun to be had in this game.

    The vast world has so much to do that it is very easy to get lost in the Wasteland for hours with out completing a campaign mission.     The combat system, while familiar (Batman Arkham series and Shadow of Mordor share the same basic elements), has its own brutal flare and subtle changes.

    Vehicle combat is very exciting. Clever use of the bullet time effect helps while aiming weapons at enemy combatants, while making the usually awkward aim while steering part of vehicle combat less of a draw back.

    This game suffers from what many other open world titles suffer from toward the middle to end of the game. Aside from the story missions you really don't get anything new once you reach a certain point. Being the completionist that I am, that doesn't bother me as much as it might some people.

    I am stilling enjoying my time with this game, it has tons to do, and the story so far is decent.

    This is an amazing game, It met my expectations and then some, a great open world with a loveable sidekick by the name of chumbucket and oacked with hings to do, there are tons of cars to unlock along with customisation options for mac and your magnum opus.

    Otimo jogo para os amantes de carros!! Graficos lindos, historia melhor que do filme!! Muito conteudo alternativo a se fazer!! Unico defeito é que achei a historia um pouco curta, mais é muito boa!!! Nao acreditem nas criticas de fanboys do MGS, pois mad max é tao bom quanto!!!

    this game is the best hardcore action game played ever and the action evolved from mordor for example limb breaking counter, ground melee weapon execution, wall execution ,shiv execution etc.
    i am doubtful whether critics exclude this action and see only repetitive missions

    I've played through Mad Max and tried out pretty much all the game has to offer, and i liked it a lot. Its a fun game with lots of killing, driving and looting. If you like these and/or Mad Max in general (if you've seen the movie/s), then you should definitely pick it up.

    Rich content, great gameplay (car combat is awesome and fist combat is brutal!), but kinda weak story (basically just: build a car...), and the game could feel a bit repetitive after a while.
    The absolute best part about the game, where it shines, is the driving. This is something that I think many games lack, but in Mad Max it just feels so good.
    Avalanche Studios delivered a decent and intense action-packed game, and I hope to see DLCs and possibly a sequel.

    What an incredible game. I came close to buying MGS V instead, but since I hadn't beat ground zeroes (The prequel to MGS V) yet, I decided to go with this first. If you like sandbox/open world games and are a fan of the Mad Max universe, stop reading this review and make the purchase. It's like playing a GTA game but in the this incredible universe. The races, chases, harpooning, vehicleWhat an incredible game. I came close to buying MGS V instead, but since I hadn't beat ground zeroes (The prequel to MGS V) yet, I decided to go with this first. If you like sandbox/open world games and are a fan of the Mad Max universe, stop reading this review and make the purchase. It's like playing a GTA game but in the this incredible universe. The races, chases, harpooning, vehicle destruction, spearing, sniping, and running around and climbing on vehicles are all in this.

    Unfortunately you as the player cannot climb other vehicles, but your friend and other enemies do this. The graphics are also quite amazing... The sand storms are beautiful.

    I would have given this game a perfect score, but unfortunately there are some minor flaws. First, you, mad max, the main character... cannot climb up anything like you can in the GTA games. This can be quite annoying and is my only major irk I have with this game. You cannot climb up ledges of any sort, let alone other cars, buildings, rocks, etc. You also can't jump too high which you do by pressing the left trigger. When I see the enemies climbing around and up on my vehicles, i do become jealous.

    There is no multiplayer, but I can't complain too much. I'm glad this studio focused on making an incredible single player game, because it really is. I would loved to have given this a higher review, and almost did, but the lack of climbing and the minor bugs prevent me from giving it a perfect score.

    This is one INCREDIBLE game. If you like sand box games and the Mad Max world is what you wish you could live in, then pick this up. It's really amazing. I love driving endlessly, slamming and ramming into enemies hoping to pick up their scraps to upgrade my stuff. This game really gives you the survival feel because you scrape to find scrap parts, oil, and water and food to keep you alive.

    Avalanche Studios, you all have made an incredible game. Please keep up the great work and make more DLC, expansions, and sequels.... I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!    … Expand

    One of the best PS4 games to come out so far. This is a great game with alot of character customization, melee combat, and the best wasteland I've played in a game. The skies look beautiful, the sandstorms are intense. Not sure why it's being so underrated.

    one of the best single player experiences i have had this year... i just don't know why this game gets poor ratings from other reviewing sites ... i am just loving this game .. combat is great almost identical to batman arkham trilogy .. visuals are great... driving is good too... but .. jump button feels a bit awkward ,,,

    A game the height of the Mad Max series, breakneck combat both on foot and in vehicle direction. Beautiful graphics and landscapes that yield good pictures. Live and intriguing universe. Although some physical errors and short story , the game provides hours of fun and worth every penny. Recommend!

    Don't really understand the mixed reviews of this - this game was immensely fun and the attention to detail of George Miller's world is just outstanding! It's visceral, brutal and the driving mechanics are brilliant! Some of it can be rough around the edges and the story isn't all interesting but the amount of technical heart that has gone into this makes it worth a recommendation.

    This game was cruelly underrated on release and deserves to be played, yes it borrows off other games but it so much fun you soon ignore its failings , please ignore the poor scores on here and search out a copy , and here's hoping to a sequel.

    I have seen this melee style of combat done before and better in Batman Arkham games. It takes a lot to get me into a third person and/or driving games these days. The scenic driving and car combat was fun. The melee combat worked, but nothing woo hoo.

    The overall game was a lot of doing the same stock stuff over and over again, but with more added intensity the further I progressed. I personally never got bored, because I was always seeing new locations when doing the same stuff. The map is huge and for a desert it had many a new nook and cranny to explore. The scripted end game BS was kind of annoying, but they wanted to push that cinematic look.

    Some small bugs and a few annoying glitches which led to very cheap deaths. Poorly optimized at times on the legacy PS4. With very bad slow downs in the frame rate when several cars are on screen. I had a lot of fun with this game, but the technical problems do effect the score.    … Expand

    Good game. It's a shame, there won't be the second one because the gameplay is strong and visuals, while not technically ideal, are artfully and immersive. We would only need a bit better story and a little more complication in fighting and looting (f*cking scraps...). Kudos to people who had developed it. You were just unlucky with unfair reviews.

The story is average and could have been so much more, with the ending being very jarring. It is sad that the game was not more of a success as they would have made a sequel for sure. I don't have much to complain about this game, if anything I would say that there are many other vehicles, but they was never really a reason to use them as the one you are building is so much better. I would have loved to see more missions with other vehicles and perhaps missions where your dog goes with you.

    I feel this game will be a cult hit in the future and hope the devs revisit it again. Just need to utilize more of the map by including fleshed out missions and they would have had a winner perhaps a AAA game.    … Expand

    Great fun, stellar graphics on the PS4, fantastic customization and upgrade mechanics, vast and scenic open world, decent story, perfect survival mechanics, brilliant gameplay. Definitely worth buying, one of the best games I've played all year.

    Everything about this game is great except for how repetitive it is. Doing the same missions over and over again mad bored of the game halfway through. The car combat was suprisingly great and the other gadgets the car had were impressive and plentiful.

So, I can't recommend a 100% playthrough but I would say that if you complete the main story and do..let's say...half of the optional quests, you should have a great time with this game.

    We can easily compare this game to Far Cry and Assassin's Creed because of the open world design.

    I ranked this game 10 because I think this title deserves more credit. It has a good open world atmosphere. You can see a devastating sand storm coming your way and then you have to run for your life and take shelter. It has a very nice graphics, fair story, nice combat system, and very fun car combat.

    The one negative thing about the game is that at a few key places you’re forced to act in a way that’s pretty inconsistent with 95% of the way you played up until then. That felt kind of terrible and to happen at the end when you’ve invested so much was kind of really sucky.     Hra je za mě překvapením roku. Perfektní vizual, se zabavnou hratelností dělá z Mad Maxe jednu z nejlepších Open World PostApo her. Super jízdní model vozidel, a jejich destrukce s výbuchy jsou vážně impozantní. Avalanche studios se vážně předvedli, a ukazali že to umí, pokud mají dostatek peněz a času na hru.

Between the skill tree, the upgrades to your abilities as well as to your car, you feel like a badass while you’re leveling up!!!!! For a post apocalyptic game, the graphics for the environments look amazing, not to mention the great effects of the sky & sunsets, etc. it even looks killer at night!!! I love the look of shadows of the clouds rolling across the landscapes! The hand to hand combat (which borrows heavily from the Batman games) has a real sense of weight and crunch to it, especially if you play with headphones! I love Avalanche games as I have played all of the Just Cause games since Just Cause 2. I would’ve loved to have seen a sequel for this game, but sadly i know we will never get one!!! :( I want to thank the team at Avalanche for this game, you branched out from Just Cause & made a KILLER game which unfortunately went way under the radar of many gamers!!!!!!!!… Expand

    The combat is amazing, comparable to the Arkham games you can feel the intensity of the punches, bones cracking it's not just punching 3 times and they go flying. The car combat is really good, and even more so when you upgrade it a lot
    The evolution sistem is amazing you can really see and feel max and his car evolve as you play more and more. And the    Truly the most underrated game ever.

The game has a lot of similar objectives to do, like a Ubisoft game, and it's incredibly fun to do them all, because you get important rewards to upgrade Max and your car and also the gameplay loop is really fun.

    And one of the most important things for me, and why I love this game is that it never gets boring the more you play it, it actually gets more fun when you upgrade all of your stuff. Not a lot of games can do this, a lot of games can get really boring after a while.     One of the best PS4 games to ever be made. Insane car combat and a world that will have you putting down your controller just to sit there in awe. Everyone should try this game.

    Davvero un bel gioco.....le esplosioni, la guida e soprattutto i combattimenti sono il punto forte di questo gioco, e anche la storia non è male. Anche se purtroppo a lungo andare è ripetitivo lo consiglio a tutti, soprattutto a chi è amante dei giochi open world.

    A 69 from critics? SERIOUSLY? In this game you play as Max and you can literally design your own car called the Magnum Opus and you can do so many things. There are 300+ scavenging locations, so many car possibilities, so many enemy types and a very good story. Yes it has its faults but rating it a 69/100 is terrible. It is a very good game!

    Not a perfect game but a lot of fun although quite repetitive, looks beautiful on ps4 pro but sometimes suffers ridiculously from frame rate issues but the good definitely outweighs the bad, unfortunately for mad max though it was overlooked that year but definitely worth a purchase.

    I recommend. This game has a lot of mechanics which make it just great. It is pure fun to play. Only thing I do not really like is the story. But after playing The Witcher games... what game has got a good story? xD anyway I truly recommend

    What a fantastic and underrated game. Especially when you come off this utterly disappointing Cyberpunk 2077 release. Mad Max is a lovely open world game everyone who love dystopian landscapes should try!!!

    imo the most overlooked and under rated game on the ps4 . even as a fan of the original films i myself did not pick this game up until two years after it come out and boy what a great game . films made into games are norm a let down but not this one . i wish i could wipe it from my mind and play it for the first time all over again . its so cheap to pick up now in 2021 dont miss out

    Um bom game com excelente gráfico, história bacana, um pouco repetitivo, porém o jogo lhe causa uma imersão devido aos ambientes retratado no mesmo, que chega a ser viciante visitar todos os ambientes do game.

    Mad Max used its imagery well, and as a sandbox game, it's thematically pretty coherent. I actually liked this more than GTA V: driving around is more exiting, and Batman-style fist fighting is more fun than Gears of GTA -cover shootouts. [Oct 2015]
