I love this game. But at this moment it has no new content at all since 2019 BUT it has more and more DLCs, more and more cheaters and also more and more "events" focused at "gatcha" system with decalls. Pathetic developers milking this great, unique game.

Cool art style, but gameplay affected by microtransactions. It's a roguelike in name, but almost all consequences of dying can be avoided by microtransactions ('insurance'). You can also ship loot back to your saferoom with, you guessed it, microtransactions. At the start they don't make it obvious but they keep upping the difficulty until you die and are asked to pay for a respawn. VeryCool art style, but gameplay affected by microtransactions. This is such a good game. But it's very grindy.
It also has a great community.
It's already mid 2021 when I write this, the game is way over it's peak. The devs don't do much about the game anymore. No new stuff, only old stuff that gets recycled. I have +3300h into this game. Don't think I have ever played a game as much as Let It Die. I love it. But I also hate it. :-) My biggest

My biggest pet peeve are the long loading times on my PS4 (not a pro).

Bottom line, I recommend it to everyone who can handle a grindy game.
You don't have to spend real money to win in this game.
Real money only gets you there faster. But if you can handle the farming, you can play this game without spending a cent.

Really good game, great gameplay, pretty good graphics and many more reasons why you should play it. Only controls could be better, but anyway it is a really good game

It's pretty fun to get into and if you can handle the high difficulty, there is a lot of great in this game. Personally, I had to stop after I put about 10-15 bucks into it. As I don't think the game is worth more than 20-30 bucks in what it gives you.

Edit 8/14/19 - The game has been more updates and it seems like the difficulty spike has been curbed in favor of using less of your money.

If you play, use this simple strategy.

    1) Progress a few levels
    2) bring loot home
    3) upgrade anything that is available and once you get a few weapons/armor piece to +3 focus on upgrading them until the materials required change.
    4) Max out a Defender/Collector/Attacker and later levels a Luck fighter.
    5) Use TDM to boost your lithium and coins to buy the gear for each trip.
    6) Utilize daily logins/quests to get death metals (lives) and express passes.
    7) Save lives for Mid and Main bosses.
    8) If you buy death metals, use the .99, 4.99 and 9.99 options. The rest are a waste of hard earned cash. You should'nt need more than 50-60 to complete the game. Quests will give you 1 and daily logins will give you 3 a week.
    9) You will die in TDM, it just really depends on if you are lucky to go against a play whose got the same gear.
    10) TDM ranks give you items weekly depends on how well you are doing in each season.
    11) Better gear and fighters are unlocked every twelve or so floors.
    12) After each boss, the next set of floors give you access to higher gear materials.
    Blue=1 Green=2 Black=3 Red=4

    Hope this helps you!

However, there are a TON of great ideas presented in Let it Die!! Like the raid mode, that encourages you to attack people, very much like Mafia Wars, except you actually have to physically fight the other players lobby characters. Which is a stroke of genius, from my perspective.

Let it Die is certainly worth your time to AT LEAST check it out!!

EDIT: After leaving this game along for a few months, I noticed quite a few boosts and extra lives added to my in-game mailbox! I recommend if you are playing this on the cheap; play it for a day or so and then let it sit for month or two; THEN come back. I had up to 25 Death Metals racked up and made it past the second boss section.

(Helpful hint!! BRING A FEW FLAT IRONS as weapons for the fight, it'll save you about 10 or 15 Death Metals)

It's the best FREE game to come up on PS4 (not counting PS Plus games) and if you got PS Plus you can get some good DLC (one free) and one for a few bucks which let's you increase your item storage a decent amount. It is addicting but also easy to stop and take a pause as you need to be really concentrated (like Soulsborne) so I HIGHLY recommend it to all serious gamers. I would say it is one of the best 10 exclusives on PS4 among BB, HZD, Uncharted and God of War.

You have to understand though it is "crappy" on purpose with cheap game-mechanics and designs - which is Suda51's style. Still, this game has some details which is typically Japanese attention to
unnecessary detail - which I love! The "cheap" game-mechanics allows for more content and deepness.
It is the most developer-supported F2P game on PS4 as I understand!

I understand now that this game wouldn't have worked without Free to Play since Kill Coins even though most fans would have wanted a proper release.

I wish the game had more depth than its addictive gameplay. It’s a hack of dark souls but with less fairness and more $$. Which sucks but eh. I think the biggest complaints are the lack of dialogue, story , and the difficultly is clearly rigged. It goes easy , hard , easy , easy, middle , **** insane,

I think they design it like that to lure you in and make you itch to spend cash .

A little bit on what the game is and what to expect: Your primary goal is to conquer the 40+ floors of the Tower of Barbs, and as you would expect, the tower gets tough the higher you go. Besides the tower and the challenges within, there is also Tokyo Death Metro, a mode where you raid other players' "waiting rooms" to obtain currency and other prizes.

First of all, this game is a grind. If you aren't into grinding, this game is not for you. Reach a new floor and it's kicking your ass? Grind for materials to upgrade your gear. Out of Kill Coins or SP Lithium? Grind Tokyo Death Metro for more. I'm not a player who particularly loves grinding or sees inherent value in it, but it feels woven into the design of this game in a way that I find agreeable. It never feels like an arbitrary roadblock to stop me from progressing too quickly, it's just a constant part of the game and either you are into it, or you aren't.

I'm into the grind, as it makes Let It Die a game I can enjoy on a daily basis. Whether I'm looking for a challenge or just something to chill out and listen to podcasts to, Let It Die is there. A number of the negative reviews complaining about the microtransactions seem to be from players who aren't into the grind, which is totally understandable. As some others have said, "Free to play Dark Souls" is a bad description of the game. While the gameplay bears some passing resemblance, the gameplay loop is totally different.

If you're still interested, give it a shot. It's free, there's nothing else like it on the market, and if you feel like you *have* to buy Death Metals to advance, you'll know that the game is not for you.

I spent over half of my time as a free player and never felt pressured into spending money. If the game wins you over and you're willing to support it with your dollars, I would recommend the Express Pass as well as any deep discounts to Death Metals.

The levels are ALL the same aesthetic, you get quite bored around floor 24 and up because you’re constantly repeating the same thing.
Progression in this game doesn’t exist in the normal manner... And so here’s why these types of games should be illegal and have no idea why Sony would let this garbage be apart of the line up.
Theres an elevator you take unlocked every floor however to head back down you have to pay a fee. The higher the floors you’re progressing the more expensive it is to skip floors or head back down. However join there monthly club and theres a special elevator you can take for free.
When you die you have the option of using a metal skull (real money currency) to revive you or pay a hefty fee to ressurect. The higher your player level the more expensive it is to ressurect your character.
The gold and Splith you make can be stolen by other players in the same rating as you. For example say you leave your hub (waiting room) to complete a quest... Theres quite a chance your waiting room was attacked. So that gold you saved up is gone... You can’t get it back unless you raid the persons waiting room. Which is unlikely because people who raid have their room defended quite well.
There are decals, (stickers) you place on your character... You can spend 10 metals to get a random (gambling) or 50000 gold to get one randomly as well. The chances of you having 50000 gold is pretty much non existence since people will raid you if you have that or more saved up. The more people you raid the higher your rating and guess what you’re faced with people of your raiding so theres not raiding lower level people. So you’re facing off with 10 of a persons characters to reach their gold in the time limit of 2 minutes.
Gear is pointless becuase every set of gear is weak against a certain stat... People don’t understand the negative percentages are multiplicative. So you could be geared really well but you can be weak to a certain type of damage... So if a hater is sent to invade your world and their equipped with something your gear is weak against it literally takes one or 3 hits to take you down.
People swear its about skill, it really isn’t its about resources. Theres only one useful character in the game call the “collector,” becuase it can carry 33 slots worth of items unlike the other characters. Every thing I mean everything takes one slot NOTHING STACKS... You get 11 slots to scale 40 floors? Think abou it people... You’re constantly going up and down the elevator to store your items in a bank that also has little slots. Want more slots in your bank you have to pay...
Nothing in this game is free... NOTHING.
In the beginning the game has it charms with it’s audio but as soon as you realize your gold is emptying as fast as you can fill it you will realize you have no choice but to wait in hopes developers send something free your way.
The quests are pointless because they are ridiculous grind... Nothing in this game is worth your time... NOTHING.
The people mostly playing this game are the ones that can’t afford a decent 60$ game yet they spend their money on this crap... LOL. You’ve been warned...

Let It Die is a solid game with far too many problems after the beginning. Like any free to play game, the beginning is the most fun part of the game. Let It Die is a solid game with far too many problems after the beginning. Like any free to play game, the beginning is the most fun part of the game. The first ten floors show off three bosses (two mid bosses, one big boss) a variety of weapons (Melee, ranged, even your fists) and you'll feel like you get a good grasp of the game after less deaths than Dark Souls.

However, by floor 20 you encounter people with proper guns, and the AI has infinite bullets. Soon after you encounter people with sniper rifles, people who never miss unless you dodge perfectly because they are AI, and will often kill you in a few shots. At which point the devs said, "Put two assault rifle enemies and two snipers in a locked room with the player who will only have melee weapons." I was never able to get past the 20+ floors because of areas like this, areas that you could grind armor and in game currency to muddle through, or you can do what the developers want you to do and spend money to revive on the spot. And that's where the flaws of Let It Die start to show, when the developers clearly started focusing on getting you to spend money through their system of "No check points, pay money or try and get premium currency through buggy broken quests, to revive where you died."

Also, yes, buggy broken quests. People have noted that many quests that give "Death Medals" the premium currency, sometimes don't register upon completion. I personally waded through an entire floor without weapons or armor, THREE TIMES, and only ONE of those two (doing it without weapons and without armor were two separate quests) eventually triggered as complete. Whether this was eventually fixed, I don't know, the quest system is so far removed from the part where you play the game I often forget about it. To explain, you have a hub where you buy "decals" (stickers that go on your character for buffs) weapons, change characters, and access multiplayer. BUT, then there's another room that you have to leave the hub to get to, and your quests are there. Why they aren't just in the hub makes no sense, and it makes getting and turning in quests take longer than it should. It's not a huge problem, like quests not working, but it's noticable.

The game isn't bad. It controls well, there's cool kills and neat weapons and armor. Some people have played through the game without spending a dime, it's very possible. However, the game is geared towards being cheaper than Dark Souls to make you spend money and there are places where it shows. There are places where they want you to go and grind for items and money, and probably die, and get mad, so you'll spend money. The game isn't doable naked, like the Dark Souls games, you have to get better weapons and armor, and in doing so you will die, and when you die you'll lose your stuff, and the game brings up a character, yes, you die and a person shows up and says, "Oh, you died. That really sucks. Want to use a premium currency to revive?" EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It becomes more infuriating than seeing "You Died" or "Game Over." Because you can't skip it, you can't mash through it, even if you want to spend the token to come back. And when you die three times in a room to enemies you have no way of fighting (Unless you can see the future and knew where the gun touting enemies were before hand) you'll start to see how much of a waste it is reviving anyway.

This has become worse now that they have added premium decals, buffs you can only get by spending the premium currency, and you only have a CHANCE of getting a good one. Maybe you spend a dollar and get the best buff, or maybe you spend fifty dollars and get the same one. That's some mobile game gachapon **** that would not be in a good free to play game. Even people who loved Let It Die when it came out are starting to leave because of choices like this by the developers/publishers. The game is slowly becoming more "Pay us money or else you won't stand a chance against the new super bosses!" and people DON'T LIKE THAT.

So, personal recommendation, try the game. It's a whopping 50gb download (as of now) but there's a few hours of fun to be had before it turns into another free to play dumpster fire. Just be sure not to spend any cash, because it's not worth it.

They've essentially ruined the entire monetization of the game post-release. They've ramped up the difficulty in number only, altered the decal drop rates (main source of progression outside of gear), and significantly increased the cost of gear for new floors while not matching the rewards enough to even cover gear on successful runs.

-If you are wearing the latest armor maxed on the latest levels/floors with the latest weapon maxed for current content, you will deal quite a bit less damage, but take a MASSIVE amount of damage more than using the previous tier of maxed armor/weapons against the previously highest enemies. On the new floors, they mostly use the same types of weapons as previous floors but with simply higher damage numbers. The only thing they did for the new floors was add red smoke and replace every enemy spawn with the hardest enemies.

-Players had tried to determine the decal (provides passive bonuses/traits for character) drop rate closer to launch, and when they tried to do so again more recently they noticed a sharp drop in rare decals. Note that they recently add a paid source rare of decals when previously the only way to get decals with cash was a brutally inefficient exchange rate with standard currency (bad enough that nobody would do it, believe me).

-The new floors take a lot of of the top gear. This is fair. However, they didn't do any tuning at all with the rewards - you don't get enough currency to cover gear costs. The immense hp sponge aspects and sharp damage increase should warrant enough currency for gear and THEN SOME. Instead, they're actively starving us likely in anticipation of some way to monetize it based on recent additions to the game.

Basically - Play the first 40 floors of the game, they're fun and progression is not bad because they didn't design them with pay to win elements in mind. Don't spend a god damn penny unless you hear that they unscammed the game.

Let It Die is a very flawed game. The game is a free to play game on the Playstation Store yet it excessively pushes microtransactions that break the game. Let It Die tries to play like a rogue like Dark Souls style game. I personally detest the Souls series and find them broken by their extreme difficulty that prevents the games from every being fun. Let It Die is easier than the Souls games which is definitely a plus because it made the experience much more enjoyable. The game plays like a hack and slash game where players are tasked to climb to the top of a tall tower full of dungeons and enemies. The game tells an interesting premise that I found quite interesting but sadly the story never gets very far. The characters in the game such as the Grim Reaper called Uncle Death are funny and quirky and really added to the experience. The graphics I found decent but nothing spectacular. The artstyle is certainly interesting but dungeon layouts and textures are often copy and pasted throughout the game. Let It Die has a great gameplay concept but it fails in execution. Since the game is free to play the Devs tried to find ways to force the player to buy microtransactions that revive the player after being killed. The bosses and enemies in the game often use cheap unfair moves that kill the player in one hit forcing you to use a revive the character or scrap it completely. I personally do not like rogue like games and find them gimmicky. Forcing the player to start all over again is annoying and not the least bit fun. The player gets to create their own fighters to climb the top of the tower. The armor and weapons in this game are great and feel satisfactory to use. The only problem with the weapons and armor in this game is the fact they break quite easily forcing the player to constantly changes weapons and armor in the middle of battle. The game controls are also very clunky and lead to unfair deaths as well. The game is built around precise combat yet the controls are too imprecise for any of this to work. Another problem Let It Die has in its combat is the fact that the once the player is hit by an attack from the enemy it becomes impossible to dodge until the enemy finishes its moves. This can also cause more unfair deaths. Despite this the combat can be fun and addicting making each blow the player makes feel crunchy and real. The game also features another annoying rogue like element that if the player does not save on the ground level of the tower the game will kill the player and force the player the player to use a new character. I found this very strange because instead of allowing the player to use a revive the game forces the player to start from scratch which I found extremely frustrating. Eventually I had no choice but to quit because of this mechanic. The revives in this game are called “death medals” and the player is given a few for free to start off with. The game will occasionally reward the player with these in the game but they are very rare. Once you run out of death medals the game will ask the player to either buy more death medals using real life money from the Playstation Store or start from scratch. At first I payed the cheap 99 cents for 10 death medals but they quickly ran out the higher I climbed the tower. The game forces you to stop buy elevators and pull a switch so you can return to that spot on the tower. I eventually got very far up and found no elevators for many floors until I had to log off. When I logged back in I was not given the option to revive my character and was forced to create a new character to climb the tower. I lost all my progress from the last climb where I climbed over 5 floors. The character I had was maxed leveled so I attempted to climb to the top but my character was swiftly killed on my way back up by a boss who used a cheap one hit kill ability I couldn’t dodge. When I faced this boss with my other character the boss never used this ability until now and repeatedly did it to my other character making me eventually run out of death medals. When I saw if I could purchase more death medals for 99 cents but found that I had to pay over $10 for more death medals. After this I decided to give up realizing I was wasting my time. For a game that sells itself on being “free to play” Let It Die is a very expensive game to play if you plan on completing it. Overall Let It Die has a great vision but fails in execution due to its janky combat and forced in microtransactions. I would not recommend playing this game at all but if you insist on playing it I would advise playing until you run out of your starter death medals. The only reason why I am giving it a 3 is because the game despite having many flaws had a great concept that I believe could have been fully realized if the combat and level design were refined and the game was made more fair and not oriented around forcing the player to spend money.

Graphics aren't bad, gameplay is fluid, load times are awful and constant.

PVP is essentially leave your base unmanned and prepare to get raided and raid in one sitting what you need to advance upgrades. So basically it's non-existent. Join CA or one of the big teams for free stuff since there isn't a level cap and they win everything.

Bosses are creative and original, weapons and upgrades aren't too bad and add a level of personalization.

A few online tips go a long way (poison eater, how to avoid using DMs when you die, etc.).

I've been playing for a short time and have hit the R3 level cap and i'm entering the true difficulty now and to me it's no more of a grind in the 20's than it was earlier. Just enjoy it for what it is, senseless violence and bizarrely awesome music and npc interactions in a small price game title.

Eat things to gain life, level up weapons and your character, defeat bosses and move to the next level. Grind your way through tunnel rats, zombies, mazes, tricky platforms to get coins and experience and you have another dungeon crawler. What sets this game apart is that the grinding doesn't feel like a grind. There is never that moment where you get tired of the old "oh great I have to go through this same level yet again to kill another 100 tunnel rats (I say tunnel rats as a cliche dungeon crawler thing). This game is fair as far as free-to-play games. There is no trick to get you started where you eventually have to pay up or wait. It's all about your skill and planning. It seems that paying in this game will leave you actually worse off than not because you end up progressing too fast. There is a lot to do before leveling up to the next tiers and defeating the next boss. It's a game of slow-progression and preparation that takes time and planning. There are no tricks or traps that kill you instantly and ask if you want to pay to proceed. It's not a game ender to die either, mistakes made in this game are entirely your fault and you do pay a price, but it doesn't need to be real money. Expand

Once you get accustomed to the flow of combat it's quite enjoyable, and the satisfaction from completing r&d goals, collecting a wider assortment of decals and leveling your stable of fighters can be highly satisfying and somewhat addictive. If I had written this review a week ago it would be generally positive and I would recommend trying this game, but not putting more than $20 or so into the in-game purchases for the starter pack and the 1 time 30 death medal deal.

But that is no longer the case. The last hours that I spent playing this game started fairly typically. I made a circuit of the higher floors, harvesting rare materials from bosses, the roaming shop and trap rooms. In the final stretches of the run, just as I was finishing the last planned boss with my bags full of loot, the game shows an error message and abruptly crashes. This leaves me somewhat frustrated as now I will have to gather hundreds of thousands of kill coins to salvage that fighter. Having a high cost for death is not necessarily a bad thing, but when the game has free to play elements, and is not completely free of bugs and glitches, this can leave a rather sour taste in one's mouth.

So after swallowing my resentment, I load up another fighter with all of my best armor, gear and mushrooms. I plan to use the game's TDM system to quickly gather the needed kill coins and salvage my dead fighter. As soon as I choose a target for my first raid the game crashes again and I lose everything that was in that fighters inventory, including rare weapons that I was still many hours from being able to craft myself. At that point I reload the application to confirm my fears, see that all that equipment is indeed gone permanently, and proceed to close and delete Let It Die from my system.

I enjoyed this game for many hours, but in the end it does not respect your time. A week ago I would have given this a 7.5 for being generally fun and charming, but now I can only look back on my time spent with it in disgust. It's a great pity; this games does so many things we've seen before, but with a unique twist. If it hadn't been for the symptoms of it's FTP pricing model many of its more glaring flaws wouldn't exist in the first place.

All that being said, I give the game a begrudging 4, and with this review finished I hope to never speak of it again.

    Beware that bad game design!

This boss is required to grind to get weapons strong enough to move on, now that's impossible. Worst still is the 3 hours it takes to bring that character back after the crash kills it.

Contacted customer service and their attitude is that its a death. Nothing they can do. So I can't finish the game and my time feels wasted.

There are some good ideas here, but treating everything as a death including their own game flaws is a little much for me.

    Cool concept, bad delivery.

Even for a free game this is garbage. The voice acting is unbelievably bad, the graphics are very mediocre, the gameplay is slow and weak and every area looks the same as the last.

However it is free so give it a shot, just don't go into with high expectations like I did.

I created an account just to write this review. After playing this game since release, I can assure you that is is the most miserable, glitchy, cruel, cheap-death, grind fest of a terrible game to ever exist. EVER. This is NOT free-to-play Dark Souls, and don't listen to anyone that tells you that. This game does everything it can to try and get you to spend money, from charging you ingame currency for deaths and check-points, to not letting you organize your inventory so you can never tell why it's so full all the time. (Buy death metals to revive, buy premium passes to use check points for free, and also buy more death metals to expand your storage-all for real money!) The better your equipment is, the more expensive it is, BUT it breaks faster! You will grind for weeks just to advance in the game and experience a couple of hours of actual game play. Yes, actual weeks of grinding to play for 2 hours! Then the game will let another player's character into your game-someone who has more time than you, and has weapons and armor from further in the game that you don't have access to. That player's character will surprise one-shot you and it will take hours to grind out the hundreds of thousands of dollars in game currency to get your character back (again, unless you want to pay real money to revive.) Also, over half of the quests in the game, specifically the ones that offer the best rewards, are glitched and cannot be completed. Oh, and you can't ever save in game money. The second you're slightly above being broke, other players invade your base and steal it all, and there's nothing you can do about it-at all. You can place your own characters as defenders, but their AI is (by design, I assume) horrible. Other players make quick work of AI characters, whom they then kidnap-stripping your AI defenders of all of their gear, which you then have to repurchase with ingame currency (get ready to grind more!) It is so unworth it to guard your base because of this, that most people don't bother to defend their bases at all and everyone just makes sure they have nearly no cash at all times. All of this is just scratching the surface of how heinous this game is. This is, by no means, a compete list of complaints. I could go on for hours, but it's not worth it. Just like this game is not worth it.

I've been playing video games for decades and this is the first time in my life that I regret starting a game. It's not so bad at first, but it just gets worse the further in you get. I have to quit playing, but it's hard to when you've invested so much time and effort and just want to see it through to the end. But if I could go back and decide to have never started playing it, I would. Easily. This game is not worth your time, or money. Don't even try it.

This is actually the kind of experience that gives you 2 pros for every con. The game has an amazing aesthetic and tone, character designs are awesome and memorable, the combat is actually satisfying for it's simplicity and the crafting/base management system can hook you for dozens if not hundreds of hours along with it's sometimes relentless difficulty spikes that make you just keep on climbing the looney tower of monsters, zombies, robots and overpowered HATERS.

I usually loath freemium games and I despise online/multiplayer games but for me this is the one exception, I simply couldn't resist to pay for them "Death Metals" (storage expanding and revive on spot currency) because of how addicted the bloody game made me.

A must have for a PS4 owner. If you got the patience to withstand the first hours of what seems to be a weird, unfair, complicated game you will be surprised to find something quite unique that is simply too much fun.

Second, This game require no money to win. I haven't paid any real money at all. In fact, I never died to the point that I run out of death metal and need gold to revive.
Third, Paying money won't get you up to higher floor. What you need most are skill and preparation. Money only give you more chance and some space in inventory but if you sucks, then you will still sucks.

The game is fun, combat feels good after you understand mechanic. Music is great as well as casting. Difficulty ? only hard if you get cornered by many enemies. Just don't be reckless to the point that get you in that situation. 90% of my death occurred due to my recklessness. Don't use Darksouls's attitude that you can keep trying until you get good. No ! this game dying means lost gold, lost time. You have to come prepared every time, check info of boss before real fight, watch utube, don't rush things.

The big negative of this game, however, is GRINDING. You will not notice it at first but once you get past 10 floors, this issue will keep popping up and become VERY GRINDING after floor 21+. Because you need materials to upgrade equipment and those material heavily depends on RNG.

Other negatives are NO COOP nor PVP at this moment. Boss fights are easy and become a joke if you abuse system by using some mushrooms. Raiding system still has issues.

Anyway, since this game is Free to Play, I would recommend everyone who like challenging game to try. It is still far from masterpiece but surely great game and has high potential to evolve to become one in the future (if devs do it right)

I normally stay very far away from free-to-play titles, but after spending a day with this title I think I have finally found a game that fits the model perfectly. This game feels like it was designed by people who enjoy making games; it is enjoyable; and the mechanics feel fair and complementary with the pricing model of micro-transactions.

I only have two concerns about the game:

    1. That content such as monsters and level design will remain the same throughout the game. I have been up to the 5th floor and to some branching-side-floors so far, and they have all been industrial sewer type levels. I hope there is more variety in this tower, since there are 40 floors, not including the branching floors.

    2. That the gameplay will change at higher levels once access to faster projectile guns become available, and that reliance on the insurance system will become the only way to progress through the tower.

There’s a level of complexity and polish that belies the lo-fi visuals, the gore, the bonkers story and the motley crew of nutbags that you encounter. Under new ownership, Grasshopper has – dare we say it? – grown up. [March 2016, p70]

Let It Die is flawed, but it’s perhaps the best free-to-play game ever made on the PS4. It’s different, daring, and occasionally impossible. But it’s also a must play for fans of the roguelike gene.

It's lovably shonky in the classic Grasshopper style, but this is a game of surprisingly layered depth and subtlety, and the studio's best game in yonks. [Feb 2017, p.85]
