By far the best inFamous game in the series. If you liked the previous games at all this is a must buy for you. You definitely won't be disappointed. I mean, I can't guarantee money back or anything :-p but you'd be insane to not fall in love with this title.

Good graphics, good voice acting, fairly good combat. Acceptable scripting, acceptable amount of repetitiveness in side/miniquests. Poor execution of "morality".

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Infamous: Second Son. Great game, with a few minor problems.
    Some spoilers within.
Ok, so this isn't really a "review" exactly, more like "good news, bad news"

First the good. Graphics are, of course, amazing. Especially Neon powers. Absolutely gorgeous.
I've heard complaints about the story, characters, and plot. Honestly, yes it's not perfect, but no game is. I really connected with Delsin and got into his head.
The powers.... oh man the powers are, to use Delsin's words, The powers are awesome! Love them.
And the destruction is fantastic. I love going around and tearing down what the D.U.P. has put up.
The city... again I've heard complaints that it didn't feel alive. I can't understand that though, I love how the city interacts with you. How the citizens will stop and take pictures of out of the ordinary things. How they'll run away when things happen. And other such things. Felt really alive to me.

    Ok, the downsides....
First... too damn short. More a nitpick than a complaint, but it really was too short.
The powers.... while they were really awesome, seriously awesome. I was/am disappointed that you couldn't switch powers on the fly. I also would've liked a bit more variability in the powers.
    and the biggest "complaint"
The last power you get, concrete, isn't fully fleshed out. I know it's basically a post game power, but they still should've filled in the last slots anyway.

This is by far the best display of PS4 graphics so far. Everything that has came before this seems like a Ps3 game in comparison.
Its also has one of the best story lines of any game in the last 10 years.
Very very fun!!! The villains were a bit dull and repetitive otherwise Id give it a 10.
Still, its the best PS4 game so far.

inFamous: Second Son felt very quick and light hearted. I found most of the characters very intriguing and relate-able. I did not like the excessive repetitiveness.

I've been a fan of inFamous since 2009, playing the first two games. After playing this, I felt a little shortchanged. The game is vibrant, the setting is stunning, there's more powers to play with, collectibles are abundant, the characters are solid and likeable, and the dialogue is funny enough to make a humorless guy chuckle. Sucker Punch added some other cool stuff, such as graffiti posters and zone warfare, and the powers are amazingly balanced. However, in other aspects, the game seems to feel overrated. First of all, it took me probably TEN HOURS to beat the game on Normal, and that's adding up time I spent to liberate a couple zones and collect enough blast shards to max everything. The plot's great and the boss battles are intense, but the major characters only appear for maybe 1-3 missions tops (Except for Delsin's brother Reggie), and that kills it for me. It would have been great if there was some way to help the conduits you find in their endeavors, and maybe add some more random encounters. I didn't exactly feel all that heroic after maxing out on Good Karma, as NPC's don't really do a whole lot of different stuff other than make some comments. The AI is NOT EVEN CLOSE to flawless. Enemies sometimes run around acting like idiots, especially in the beginning of the game where they're laughably easy to defeat, and although there are more types of enemies introduced near the halfway point, they still act idiotic at times, running straight at you without firing their guns. I could drone on for a bit of a while about the flaws, but I'll put it this way: after I do a play through on Evil Karma, I don't think I'll ever be picking up the disc and putting it in again, and I'm already having a hard time thinking about playing it even now. Just rent the game for a few days and you'll probably finish both Karmic paths in 15-ish hours. Only my love for the series prevents me from going below the green. Come on Sucker Punch, we need more content for a game like this. Add a little more background for the new guys, more story, and other areas for us to explore. Don't ditch important characters after a couple missions and suddenly throw them in the last mission. Please, if you're gonna make a sequel, add some new radiant stuff and weather effects rather than just cloudy days. I know Seattle isn't exactly Los Angeles, but we have sun out here sometimes, and it would be nice if we had other weather patterns in the game. These are just a few ideas to toss around for the new inFamous. Get the game if you're a fan of the series, but if you're new, just rent the game. Expand

Slightly underrated, this is the first great game of the PS4. Technically, it's the best thing that exists right now. It is superior to both Shadow Fall and Ryse. Because of the open world and of the unbelievable art SP has created.

As an inFamous game, it lacks some of the missions variety (or side missions) from the previous games and also is quite shorter. On the other side, this time you have 4 sets of powers. Some say, that the other 3, beside the smoke, which is the first, are useless, but I have been using all of them almost equally (except from the last which comes almost at the end). Each action you want to take makes better use for one of them.

Also the pace is great this time with each power being presented perfectly fitting the laid-back attitude of the whole game. The music is stylish and sets the mood as does the weather and the atmosphere colors.

This is a great game, the best of the PS4 right now, the best of the inFamous series, the best visually right now. I had my complaints for its gameplay, but I had much fun and most importantly I felt the next gen leap. The controller gimmicks, the stunning graphics (with all the new tech), the more coherent inFamous world... all of those made me feel that next-gen feeling.

ISS makes the jump to PS4 worthwhile and turned out to be one of the most memorable games I've played. Facial animation is leagues ahead of what we've seen so far and (the majority of the time) Delsin's movement is smooth and seamless. Voice cast produces a fantastic performance and gives the somewhat sketchy plot a right to life.

Only downside is that it's over too quickly, but alas

From a gameplay and graphics standpoint it's phenomenal. The combat is fast and fluid, the superpowers look great and are fun to play around with. It's fun to explore the world and traverse it with the superpowers also. The lighting, textures, animations, mo cap, voice acting and detail in inFamous second Son on PS4 is next to none.

It's a story based game and you are a guy called Delsin who gets superpowers but this is not as much of a blessing as you'd think. This is because of the world inFamous is set in and because of what has happened in the previous games. You are seen as a bio terrorist and the D.U.P lock up anyone who has these powers. You can either choose to play as a hero or a villain and there are different quests, powers and endings depending on your playstyle. Reggie is your brother and he is a really good character in the game as is Delsin ( voiced by Troy Baker ) but the rest of the cast is more forgettable. The Story of the game is not that great in my opinion but it's good. The characters beyond Delsin and Reggie are not very fleshed out either.

There is an experience system of sorts that lets you put points into your powers as you progress throughout the game. There are side missions and activities like spray painting, rescue missions, healing people, destroying cameras and eliminating the D.U.P from the city. However many of them seem mundane. If you want a really great looking game that's really fun to play and it will last you around 10 to 12 hours to complete the main campaign then inFamous second son is a game you should really pick up on your PS4.

These fears we're apparently pointless as Second Son almost instantly changed my mind with outstanding graphics, a deep, meaningful and overall enticing story and smooth gameplay. The city of Seattle makes for an expansive and enthralling sandbox, with many side missions to play through, and of course enough D.U.P. Bases to keep the action flowing all through your playthrough. Something that especially stood out for me were all the cool new powers including... Well you can go find that out for yourself. If I could make anything about my review stick with whoever is reading it, it would be that inFamous: Second Son is definetely worth buying for any PS4 owner. The evil playthrough still has the great gameplay and everything else, but the actual plot does leave something to be desired. Some may disagree though. The platinum trophy is also too easy to obtain. Not necessarily a con, but my second playthrough (evil, expert difficulty) should have been more challenging. I finished running the story line from the "Good" perspective and now started with the "Evil" story line. Personally, they are both equally fun and offer different dialogues with basically the same story line. As for the story, you don't need to have played the first two Infamous games from PS3. There's no mention of previous characters or events and seems like Sony decided to "reboot" the franchise for the PS4.

It starts out great, but there isn't as much substance in the middle as I'd like. Not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it doesn't pack quite the emotional punch that inFamous 2 did.

I love the characters. Cole was always just Ok to me, but Delsin has much more personality. The excellent voice actors have much to do with this. It's good to see Delsin embrace his new powers, unlike Cole. He's always seeking out new powers and is as happy as a kid at Christmas whenever he gets one. The evil grin he does right before dropping on enemies says a lot. Delsin's brother, Reggie, and the other conduits met in the game are very well done.

I've heard some people saying that this game is really short and repetitive, but I haven't found this to be the case at all. I haven't been clocking my gaming time, but it seemed comparable to inFamous 1 and inFamous 2 as far as I remember.

This is an extremely easy game to recommend, and not just because of the typical post-launch drought that most consoles experience.

Total playtime was probably 20 hours or so. There's no multiplayer either, so once you've finished the story there's really not much left to do.

All in all, I feel like the game is a good one, but I honestly don't know if it's worth the money. It's definitely not worth buying a PS4 just to play this one game. If you already own the system and are thinking about picking this one up, rent it first.

InFamous: Second Son shows us why Sony's Playstation 4 is the number one console on the market today. Some may disagree with that statement, but figures show that as of writing this review, it's the truth. The inFamous franchise has always been seen as somewhat of a second fiddle to the critically acclaimed Uncharted franchise by long-time Sony exclusive developers, Naughty Dog. But with the release of inFamous: Second Son, that's now proven to be all passe'. Developers at Sucker Punch have now stepped up to the plate and proven that they are now ready to be top-dog in the Playstation Universe, and inFamous: Second Son is certainly the jump start the game studio needed to get them ahead of the rest. But even with our initial praise, was the game's plot all that great? Did Delsin leave an impact that would make us forget the heroics of our electrifying hero? or did his smarky attitude leave us hoping for Cole's survival?

    GAMEPLAY: -
As inFamous fans, we all know it's all about the power game. You can't just walk in thinking that it's all going to be handed to you on a silver platter, and in a matter of moments you have the ability to blow everything up at your own free will. Playing as Delsin, you will find that alot of your powers will emulate much of what you had in the previous inFamous titles. You get the standard shoot, hover, and grenade powers, but will see that some new powers have now come into play, whilst leaving a couple behind that make total sense. Second Son brings in wall running which replaces much of power line surfing from it's Playstation 3 counterparts, and short dashes with the simple press of the 'circle' button make melee attacks pretty practical, and awesome. Of course with the different powers Delsin collects, each individual type of melee attack will have it's own unique twist with it. The powers Delsin sponges off other conduit's, or Bio-Terrorists (however you see fit to name them) throughout the game make's Delsin an irresistible force to control.

With each of the power's unique twist on every melee attack Delsin has in his arsenal, you'll find yourself wanting to switch it up every once in a while. This is where it becomes a little hectic. It's not as simple as a click of a button and Delsin changes from Smoke to Neon, you will have to find the nearest Neon sign or Smoke chimney to switch around each power. Losing and gaining energy is exactly as it was in the previous title. Low on health? Drain a Neon sign. Low on fuel? Drain a satellite Dish. Oh yeah, you can do that. And of course, what is an inFamous game without Karma? Your actions throughout the game will set you on a unique path to either becoming a hero or paving the way for becoming infamous. Each simple action in the game will either add good karma or bad karma to your karma gauge throughout the game, which is now represented by the two-colored eagle patch placed on the back of Delsin's vest. And yes, like the previous titles, Delsin's clothes do change according to his level or Karma. There are six levels of different karma again, three for good and bad karma's respectively with each name only showing the level of decency or devilishness your Delsin will get up to.

Only thing is, you will find that it is near impossible to avoid accidentally attacking the innocent throughout the game at times, that is if you are running through a straight good karma run. If you're going on an evil karma run, you will have no problem achieving the infamous rank. You will find that swarms of D.U.P's will come in masses, and aren't that easy to defeat. Even on the easiest difficulty, you will find yourself struggling to keep up with enormous swarms attacking you from every direction. Best advice? Run and wait. Just don't move away too far from certain missions, as you may fail them if heading too far out of bounds. And as far as in-game controls go, if you're expecting to jump directly from a fresh playthrough of inFamous 2 to Second Son feeling "prepared", you're in for a world of surprise. Forget everything you knew about the original inFamous controls as alot has changed, although once getting used to the new control system, you will find that the new layout is has improved and feels much more streamlined for better character handling. The game also makes use of the Dualshock 4's new touchpad, which you will be using quite abit throughout the game. The speaker on the controller will spark off a couple times as well, giving you the occasional treat.

    PRESENTATION: -
Second Son is nothing short of gorgeous. The design really does show off the difference between last generation and current/next generation consoles. The detail that the developer's put into every little speck throughout the game is remarkable. From rain droplets hitting puddles in the street, to the Smoke particles from Delsin's arsenal, the attention to detail put into Second Son is amazing. Rest of this Review is on DashGamer.com

Prototype did this game type well, and gave gamers what they wanted with all the destruction and gore. Infamous could be better. Take off the filters and let the game get crazy. Remove the uninspired copy and paste missions that I eventually had to stop watching and mute after (the 99th graffiti tag) repeating the same thing so many times. Just painful. The AI of the living inhabitants is dreadful; they love you or hate you and they have no lives, it's just all about you. At least the baddies were a small challenge to kill at times.

This game is mediocre and doesn't improve on previous installments. Game play is the same with different powers. Visuals only go so far. Dialogue is cheesy as well.

The gameplay is very repetitive and shallow with an arcade game feel. Also it seems cartoony and I find the main character annoying and childish. The dialog is cliche and unintelligent. In terms of the feel, the character runs too fast, and when jumping, it feels like the gravity level is too low. You can pretty much climb anything get anywhere with little to no effort, there is no real challenge. Shootouts always get interrupted because your smoke guage drains quickly and you have to go out of your way to find a smoke stack to recharge your ammo. There are issues with the AI. Occasionally I would see enemy soldiers caught in a loop running around in small circles really quickly. I really just played this game for an hour, didn't feel anything, and decided to pass it on.

The sound effects are cheap. They've very light sounding, not realistic and didn't capture my imagination. I'm convinced that the game was underdeveloped and rushed so it could be placed on the market before any good games come out, and therefore increase its chances of selling.

It's starts out as a fun, interesting experience. But becomes highly repetitive and the game centers around copy and paste abilities and tiresome button mashing. Could have been better, if not for it's uncorrelated story and a lifeless city.

Firstly I would definitely not recommend paying full price for this. I bought in on release for £50 and, pound to hours, this game barely lasted a fraction of the time. I completed my first playthrough in 8 hours, I wasn't even rushing, this was 100% 1st playthrough completion in practically one day. Naturally to see both the Hero and Infamous endings you'll want to play it twice, which totaled up to a grand 14 hours. For the amount of money they demanded for this game that is simply disgraceful. Aside from that I found Delsin a poor replacement for Cole; While Cole was the sort of character who could have gone either way, being good or bad based on the short straws life had handed him, Delsin's motives were purely altruistic and any decisions he makes along the Infamous karma route don't develop him as a character at all, they just make him out to be a punk. On that note the good and bad karma decisions in this game were weak. While Cole had some good ones: Bad: Absorb the power of the ray sphere and become all-powerful or Good: Cast it off and save the city, Delsins decisions are more along the lines of Bad: be a dick or Good: DON'T be a dick.
The game is of course not without its good points, the powers are quite expansive and while they don't vary as much as Cole's did in Infamous 2 with regards to Karma, they are still quite balanced at it's not unreasonable to expect the player to attain complete mastery of all of them...Though I did favour neon myself. Open world Seattle was quite expansive and well designed, it did an absolute fantastic job of making us believe the game was much bigger than it actually was. Graphics were sound and the game ran smoothly with no noticeable glitches or bugs. While the voice acting wasn't terrible, Troy Bakers did absolutely nothing to help Delsin's case or make him even a remotely likable character. Quite the opposite I found.
To sum up my review, if you can get this game for cheap...like £10 or something I say go for it, while it may be disappointing to many Infamous fans it can be fun, but if you want to go ahead and buy it at full price anyway, you've been warned.

CONS: First off, the man character is corny and lame. He comes off as too giddy and fearless. The character development sucks. The storyline was so incredibly shallow, it was surprising. It was easy to see from a mile away that the Policeman brother will die. The powers were all cookie cutter. Each power had a rapid fire mode, an ammo-based power attack, and a super blast charge-up power. Also, the storyline was predictable and repetitive.

Overall, very glad I borrowed this game from a friend and did not buy it.

But what? Another InFamous but on ps4. Oh how I was wrong, and I'm glad I decided to test myself on this wrong. Firstly, the open world of the game is made of course not perfect, but very good. Run / jump and fly over it really brings aesthetic pleasure. A sort of a mixture of GTA, Prototype, past InFamous games and something else, which together made the city great. Secondly, it is the main character. How I got tired of images "bald" Rambo in each game. Huge, with big muscles, a kind of carbon paper with different hairstyles in all games. Delsin Rowe - this is absolutely the first protagonist in games of this genre, which is awesome. It's actually a young man, I believe the developers that he is really a man who surprised that he can do some strange things! Well, finally, thirdly, the ending of this game is completely chopped me to pieces in the best sense of the word. I realized what influenced my choice "to be a hero" and what would be if I chose to be a "goat." I realized by design, and when we went to "titles" under the cover of Nirvana I was just 2-3 minutes without moving. Bottom line: the best of all InFamous definitely one of the best open world games, great ending. Of the minuses I note the lack of desire to play in the "Free-Roam", well, the logical end of the game there are enough already. And minus for me was the fact that at certain moments of the game, in some chapters, I briefly start dropping off, total the game has little trouble keeping the audience in suspense. Great action, do not pass by. Ranked # 8 of 10. Expand

Does it make sense to play hours using these interesting powers we enjoyed and invested points in, only to be denied them for the final boss fight? The side missions got repetitive, chase this person, follow this audio signal, blow up that scanner, kill that APC. It was also buggy, every drone got stuck in a light, or on a roof, or on a stair, I fell through floors at the final boss fight numerous times.

Summary- This is an enjoyable game. Yet it bears similarities to games like Saints Row 4, Crack down, and the original infamous. It's nothing original and not much of a wow factor but it's an enjoyable time. Rent it beat it in a week and send it back.

Each power you get has it's strengths and weaknesses compared to the others and depending on your karma alignment. Unfortunately, some feel too weak and others feel too strong. It's up to you to find what you like the most. Rest assured though, moving around the city is incredibly fun, not only are the combat powers different, the traversal powers are too. Second Son really blue balls you with the story. It's extremely short, something that has been happening with each subsequent release of the series. The characters are much more interesting and relatable, but you never see enough of them and they see very little development. Side missions are barely tied to the story, an instance barely varies from the rest of each of its type. The karma system stays black and white, it's never been hard to make a decision, you're a good guy, so you should make the good choice. There's no reason to do otherwise. Not much of the story even changes based on your decisions. Karma plays a part in combat, where you must combo actions differently as good or evil in order to earn a special karmic ability. The game feels real and visceral with great audio-visual (and vibration) feedback. The game is beautifully next-gen. Unfortunately it falls short of a lot of my expectations. The innovations are appreciated, but the rest of the game feels worse than it's predecessors. Expand

Not so in this one. Every character feels like they were put there because the formula of a story needed them there. Nobody feels real. Plot twists occur when they need to for the story but nothing seems to have any justification. And there aren't any rules to how the powers work. The game just uses cores from the old games without explanation and you're restricted from using powers at random when it serves the story. It has the depth of fan fiction.

    PROS:
+They have some wonderfully written characters. For example, you get a strong brotherly bond between Reggie and Delson.
+The game is beautiful - a game, like The Last of Us, silences boastful PC fascists.
+The AI is one a lot of other game developers should study. It felt surprisingly realistic, and two steps ahead of it's predecessors.
+Multiple powers all carry their own independent sense of extreme power while still maintaining a sense of agility. Shards are much easier to find and seem to hold more use when they have the potential to unlock a myriad of abilities.
    +Executes open-world well.
    CONS:
-The choice system was incredibly black-and-white: right away they throw a convincing character into an evil situation and he becomes dreadfully unbelievable! You're exposed to a gentle, humorous and kind young man, and then the game wants you to believe this lovable soul has the emotional capability of killing innocent people. Yeah, right...
-They could have done a lot of things with some characters that quickly disappeared (Betty, Fetch, etc.).
-While Reggie is almost as lovable as Delson, he seems to be their only as weight for the bland decision making; again, falling to the evil situation, why would a cop let his brother do evil things - and still support him? The character writing backfires, were it's previous titles had flawless decision making, and believable characters on both sides of the road.
    -Both endings are garbage, sorry.
I guess the bottom line is if you're looking for a open-world superhero game - or just an Infamous fan - you should by this game, but I wouldn't even come close to saying it's worth picking up a PS4 for.

A good thing about the city is its changeable atmosphere during storying going, not automatically. There are rain, fog, sun day, dawn, noon, dusk and night, which are very contrasted one another and immersing.

The story is childish, but telling is smooth. Main missions still can't escape me a feeling of going from one checkpoint to another and doing the similar things agin and again.

Most impressive though is how much fun Second Son is to play. With the variety of powers available, and the very good AI, this game is simply a blast and it's hard to ever put the controller down. In fact, Second Son only falls short in the lack of variety of enemies, and the somewhat strange story arc.

The story isn't bad, in fact, it's almost very good. Unfortunately, very likable and seemingly major character will be introduced and then almost completely discarded until the very end of the game without any explanation. This is a real shame since the interactions between Delsyn and his supporting cast are truly enjoyable and often humorous experiences, and it feels strange to suddenly not see certain characters for extended periods of time.

Overall, Second Son is a great game. It may be short, (only about 12 hours), but it offers a lot of replay value with alternate good and bad story lines. The karma system feels out of place and antiquated however, with there only being a few story centered good vs evil choices to make. The rest of the time, karma is simply awarded based on whether you kill your enemies or just subdue them.

This is a very good game but I would recommend renting over buying. Reason being that the game is relatively short, can be Platinumed in a little over a week, and there is no multiplayer component to speak of. The powers that you get are unique elements that you typically wouldn't think of, unlike the stereotypical/generic electric powers of the first 2 games.

The story is easy enough to follow. Nothing outlandish but not incredibly dull either. As far as character development, Delsin (the main character) is really the only one who undergoes significant change from beginning to end, which should be expected since the player can choose whether he becomes good or evil. The combat is smooth but somewhat repetitive. The boss fights are fun, though. Overall there are no glaring weaknesses in Second Son, but as I said it will be collecting dust on your shelf from lack of use just a few weeks after buying it. RENT!

Infamous Second Son is a real pleasure to look at. I mean it is just beautiful. This and Killzone Shadow Fall are the best two looking games on PS4. Killzone Shadow Fall is still the king of graphics though and it's miles more fluid.

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS: I do notice a LOT of judder, being that the game isn't capped at 30 FPS, instead it goes from 30-45 from time to time causing a TERRIBLE stutter when running really fast and also moving the camera around really fast. It also has horrid looking texture pop-in, that also causes a stutter in the game. Personally I think it makes the game UNPLAYABLE. But I'm a PC gamer. But for those of you who don't mind gamebreaking stuttering and are used to playing crap console ports and don't mind(I know a lot of you won't see this cause you don't care about this), I'll continue my review like this doesn't exist.

The gameplay is fun. I think it's so much fun to run around with all these super powered and blast people apart, or save them. And the difficulty on "Normal" is JUST right I think. I heard at the last minute they increased it just a bit. So you don't feel too over powered in the game. But you do have to retreat to gain health every now and then and you will find yourself dying if you aren't really trying your best to retreat and regain health.

The game is also long enough to keep you engaged for quite a while. I've been playing since Tuesday and it's Thursday today and I am just a little past getting the second power out of the 4 powers you get. I've played about 4 hours per day for 2 days, so I'm 8 hours in and less than half way through. They say the game takes 10-15 hours to complete the story mode. But personally I can see this game taking me about 15 hours for full completion. And then I'll probably still roam around more or complete the "Evil" version of the game.

Now with such a great job they did creating the city, and Delsin, and his powers, I figured they'd have A LOT more to do in this game, but besides the story, and unlocking the city from DUP, there isn't hardly anything to do that's the least bit fun. It's not remotely close to GTAV as for things to do, you can tell this game only took 2 years to make and not 3-4. Hopefully Watch Dogs has a LOT more to do.

    Graphics 10/10
    Gameplay 7/10
    Storytelling 7/10
    Game Longevity 7/10
    Game Smoothness/Play ability 0/10

OVERALL: Infamous Second Son SHOULD be a solid 8/10 game, but because of technical issues that have NOTHING to do with my PS4 or the disc(I know because I returned my PS4 and the disk and it still happens), the game is pretty much unplayable, even Sucker Punch admits this problem but says it has to do with the engine and they can't fix it.

What's left is a nice looking, competent action game that offers nothing more than 12 hours of "shooting a bunch of bad guys". A major disappointment in nearly every regard, it's confounding that Sucker Punch would dismantle the franchise in such an epic way. It's not "more of the same" inFamous, it's far, far, less of something vaguely similar. If you were a fan of the first 2 games, there is very little here to enjoy. I would wager that you're actually going to be heartbroken, much like I was.

The original InFamous still remains one of my favorite games in the genre. The free-running traversal of a beautifully crafted environment and emphasis on collection made exploring the environments a joy and worthwhile. It could (and should) be argued that the franchise was so much fun not just because of the "super powers" but because exploring the open world was a compelling experience. What Second Son offers is a graphically beautiful rendition of Seattle with absolutely no reason to explore it.

You won't be climbing up and jumping around buildings in fantastic displays of athleticism looking for treasures and leaping around town. This just isn't that game, that mechanic has been more or less completely omitted. You won't be facing a multitude of exciting and different enemies, there are only two types: Soldiers and drug dealers. Missions are repetitive, laborious and require a great deal of time running away from enemies to recharge instead of facing them head-on. Unlike the first two titles, finding recharge stations is much more difficult and frustrating.

What's left is a very average action game that offers no appeal other than the scenery which you'll have no reason to explore. Your enjoyment of the game will come down to what you liked about the original titles. If you weren't fond of the locomotion and collection aspects and simply had fun mindlessly shooting enemies with something other then bullets, you may well enjoy Second Son. If you valued the core gameplay mechanics of the first two titles and accompanying artistic direction, prepare for an unrivaled let down in every regard and another 4 year wait in hopes that Sucker Punch can restore some of what made the original such a joy.

I want to rate the game a 0 as I have no reason to spend time playing it and am, frankly, so very, very sad. However, I want to remain objective and rate the game accordingly. It's technically proficient, the voice acting is very good and the controls are solid. Average in every regard and a major let down for fans of the series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's get started with what is ultimately not the most important part of a game: the graphics, facial animation, and particle effects in this game are beautiful. That goes without question. The environment is very realistic and is fun to play in.

Gameplay: Delsin's power sets are quite different that those used by Cole in the previous Infamous titles. He absorbs different powers from the environment depending on what is needed. Some provide added maneuverability and precision while others are fierce but don't help if you're trying to get around the city. Overall these powers are fun to use. Hit and run strategy is encouraged with the removal of the ability to take cover, and fighting while climbing (aiming while holding onto ledges and such) is discouraged by very high buildings and powers that allow you to ascend them easily. This does not detract much from gameplay however.

Open world: Sucker Punch got into open world design early on, and luckily for them it took off. People like having a lot of power, and a lot of space to let loose. However, a lot could be said about side mission integration. Shards can be found on the minimap after clearing a mean enemy base in certain districts, and after that the only reason to get 0% DUP presence is if you feel like being a completionist. This wasn't a problem in the first two Infamous Games since there were literally not enough missions to supply you with enough xp to unlock all the powers, you had to make and play their online levels as well if you really wanted everything, whereas I got almost all the powers on my evil playthrough while hardly clearing any districts.

Story: This story was significantly shorter than other Infamous games, and felt a little linear. Track down one conduit, get powers, track down another, get powers, track down another conduit, watch Reggie's very touching death scene that was actually really good, track down a conduit who is the head of the DUP, get powers in a boss fight, the end. The karma mechanic had little to no effect on the overall plot, which was disappointing.

Overall: If I had the option this review would be rated at 8.5. I love the series and it doesn't receive as much love as it ought to. However, second son doesn't quite live up to the outstanding experience that was the first two games. More karma and open world mission integration were needed, and the story was over and done faster than it needed to be. I love it, the only bad thing I can say is that I want more.

I'll keep it short: Everything is perfect except the story isn't up to par with the first two (but it's still great), and the parkour isn't as solid as it was in the past (but this is remedied by incredible ability to fly around the city). 9/10.

Graphiquement parlant, lorsque qu'on lance le jeu on ressent pas une claque graphique mais c'est au fil du temps qu'on se rend compte que la PS4 est définitivement une console next gen capable de concurrencer les meilleurs PC actuels. My first good playthrough on normal was fun, smooth. Not very challenging. Second playthrough, evil on expert. Much better. The combat had more memorable moments. Its more challenging and the karmic differences become apparent. I enjoyed how on my second playthrough smoke was so much more fun to play. I found myself using completely different powers, flying from rooftop to rooftop, taking more strategic approaches, launching missiles springing from rooftop vents. Taking down towers from 3 blocks away and generally feeling like an evil badass. If you take it for what it is you can have a ton of fun, just don't expect a GTA killer.

While it's a solid 8, it could be higher. This is mainly due to the so-so story, repetitive objectives, and crude execution of the classic inFAMOUS morality questions of becoming good or evil. I'm guessing the developers didn't have enough time for variety of objectives or finer tuned morality leveling. What they did have time for, however, was excellently developed and implemented.

After a series of events, a wreck in your town leave the conduits, or bio terrorist depending on who you ask, freed and running for their lives. You character comes into contact with one of them and through some sort of hocus pocus becomes a conduit himself. images6Now with the ability of Smoke you will start to have fun toying with the different ways to use it. This only leads to problems for the young…hero?

This leads me to the next part of this game. The Karma system. Doing good and bad things can effect the game in different ways. Good guys get certain abilities later while the baddies do the same but in images2different ways. For me, after running through both ways, I feel the good was a little easier to stay alive while the evil made it easier to kill large groups. There are SO MANY ways to gain or lose karma. Everything from killing drug dealers (evil) to healing hurt civilians (good, duh) The one thing this didn’t effect… much to my surprise, was the story line. While there were tiny differences ( If you want to know what they were then play the game) but not enough to really make the game worth playing through twice… unless you are hunting trophies. Otherwise, just 100% on the path you choose. You won’t miss much.

One of my favorite things about this game was the choice in powers and the variety of abilities within said powers. The was three main powers (and fourth once you beat the game) to choose from. There’s Smoke, that yo u start with, Neon, and video. They all hXkyQdU1ave their advantages but once i got neon and especially video, i never used smoke again… until they made me.The wings of video (see right) made it super easy to travel through the large map! Neon was great for long distance and was a huge help when it came to upping your karma levels!images(see blow) Concrete is the last power and is fun but not easy to use. Just have fun finding all the different ways to kill the DUP’s!

Another fun and innovative add-on to the game was the graffiti art that you could do. They let you choose good or evil and you had to turn images3the controller sideways, shake it like a spray paint can, and then aim it while holding the trigger. It was fun and for some reason, never got old!

Over all the game was good, not great, but good. The story keep me wanting to play more…which is why I beat it so quick… it really doesn’t take long to beat but there is plenty to do after to get 100%. If it sounds like fun to you then chances are you will love it and play it till your passed out still holding the controller, for a day or two.

    So lets review:

    Pros:
    Great story
    awesome powers
    fun game play

    cons:
No difference in story line from good to evil
    No online play

So overall it was good… let’s say 8/10

The new powers are fun for the first few minutes you have them, but then you realize that even with these powers you are STILL under powered no matter how high up you level them. the same enemies that gave you trouble with your first set will still give you trouble with the "powerful" third set. Add in the repetitive, boring mini missions you have to do for every single subsection of a REALLY dull and uninteresting city, and you have yourself a nice shiny repeat of the first InFamous game. Once you played the game for about an hour you pretty much have played the whole game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Infamous Second Son: A PlayStation exclusive that was the first game to show off the power of the PS4 (yay) and all the things the new controller can do (Not as much yay.) A soft reboot of the original Infamous series you play as Delsin Rowe who lives on a Native American reservation north of Seattle. One day a prison transport carrying conduits (basically X-men) crashes and you accidentally absorb the powers of one. Now you have to go to Seattle with your sheriff brother to get a special power to save the nice Native Americans and defeat the evil government forces who have the city under martial law.

The game has you take down districts in a standard open-world fashion. Each takedown ends with a large battle which is usually quite well down. There are also four distinct boss battles related to gaining powers that are a little less successful. They are not as bad as say Deus Ex: Human Revolution but they have the annoying habit of ignoring your progress and skills for a cheap arena battle.

The Good: The game is downright beautiful. The action is often fun and chaotic. You eventually get three powers (smoke, neon, and video) with a fourth power (Concrete) available post game. The powers are different enough to be enjoyable and you will find your favorite. You are restricted to only one power at a time which unfortunately restrict the mix and match on the fly a bit.

The game’s main character voiced by Troy Baker is not nearly as irritating as the promo materials would lead you to believe. His relationship with his brother is actually kind of touching. He does have that annoying Niko Bellic habit of not being able to see a plot twist in neon orange with a well lit blinking arrow pointed to it.

You main action loops of fighting the super-powered mooks and destroying their bases are quite fun with a decent mix of strategy and action.

The Bad: Unfortunately to clear the districts there are side activities such as graffiti tagging (complete with annoying motion controls) and Where’s Waldo (find the undercover agent.) These start out meh and becoming draining by the third district or so. There is simply no variety.

While your actions on the city of Seattle are permanent (destroyed guard towers stay destroyed), there is never any reason to visit a district once you cleared it. It is a lot of work for no payoff outside of progression.

Sometimes the game will decide it is night and it will continue to be night until you do a mission to advance the game and change the time of day. Side missions, in particular, are often a bear at night (or even dusk another popular choice) so one finds themselves advancing the game through main missions trying to get decent lighting so they can mop up the side missions. This takes one out of the narrative a tad.

Second Son continues the Infamous tradition of two paths one good and one evil. You get different attacks and a different ending depending on which you choose. There is no nuance in the process and it seems to have no effect on any story beats outside of the conclusion. Compared to even Bioware or Fable's attempts at the same it is a crude underutilized tool that never really satisfies and sometimes doesn’t make sense.

In Conclusion: Infamous Second Son is a beautiful game with solid mechanics. It is also like playing Saints Row 4 with all the fun bits removed. Everyone is going to take the same path with the same character. There is little creativity outside of some at the moment strategy while taking out bases. Enjoyable overall it seems in a bit of a straight jacket that the gameplay cannot compensate for.

Well all I can say is this really, really enjoyed this game. The characters are good. The story was fun and challenging. Also there is a ton of replay value with doing multiple karma choices. All in all my game of the year and a really fun game.

Its awesome from the start to finish and in my opinion its the best of the infamous series I just wish their was more to do after you complete the story and the side missions like maybe from time to time a conduit could pop in to challenge you

First things first, this game is a blast. It's simply fun in a way that reminds me of how the simplest games twenty-five years ago could lock me in for hours at a time and how death never felt disappointing.

The story, however, isn't fleshed out. It's hard for me to ignore that it feels like they were working with a good story that just didn't get implemented perfectly into the core

The story, however, isn't fleshed out. It's hard for me to ignore that it feels like they were working with a good story that just didn't get implemented perfectly into the core gameplay.

For what it's worth though, that's pretty much what the first two InFamous games were like. They were both fun, graphically spectacular, but the story was serviceable at best. This is no RPG. It's an action game and the story is a relative weakness, if not a moot point throughout much of the experience. It's a way to have some kind of purpose, however unreasonable or illogical, to get you from action A to action B.

It's the action that locks me in to all of the inFamous games and this one blew me away. The bigger the action, the better the graphics generally have to be. Second Sun shines on the PS4. It's gorgeous. The weather and particle effects show off the power of the PS4 in a way none of my other games do. Often it runs above 30FPS, making climing and exploring the city dolphin smooth.

I was hesitant to buy the game until it was on sale for $20. Now I'd pay full price for it. The inFamous series has always felt like one of the most under-exposed game franchises ever. I don't know but one person who has played any of them. If you enjoyed any of the other inFamous games, Second Son is a no brainer. It's a must-have for anyone who enjoyed the other games enough to complete them. It's intuitive, glitch-free (for me, absolutely), beautiful, exciting, and best of all, fun.

This game is excellent. I waited until it came out to grab a Ps4 and it certainly didn't disappoint. The only reason that it's a 9 is the story wasn't as good as the original InFamous and the amount of blast shards and audio logs was rather small. However the game as a whole is loads of fun with replayability to play as both good and bad.

The upgrade to next gen has truly showed with the most realistic looking cut scenes known in video games, but the game relies less on cartoon style cut scenes but don't worry they are still there. The game is far more fast paced than its predecessors, and the cover system is no longer implemented and now is replaced with a dashing system which makes Delsin fly to roof tops to recover health, but the majority of enemies have powers of their own, and they will follow you. In this game there is 4 different powers smoke, neon, Video and Concrete all having their own specialised characteristics depending on your alignment, so a good character with neon could focus and slow down time and aim for weak spots to subdue them, or with evil alignment have increased speed and conjure up a deadly stasis bubble. Instead of Ionic powers in infamous 2 you have karmic streaks that are similar but are used differently and there is a different 1 for each power, they are area of effect and take out pretty much all enemies and are earned by gaining karma in small bits. There is now 5 karma levels on each side and are easier to go though. Infamous second son is a must buy for around $50 Expand

This game starts off well, visually impressing you and the way it is made gives you hope that Sony has put up a good exclusive for once, but then the the limitations and repetitiveness push over you, meatslapping your face with anger until it burns and gives you skin damage. Sony failed again to deliver greatness. All the obese gamers won't last long to finally experience something decent enough.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I never played Infamous 2 (although thanks to a friend i am aware of the canonical good ending), letting you know before hand. I did play infamous 1 though, and enjoyed the heck out of it. I had so much fun in the game's open world, choosing the villain's path in all of the game's though moral choices. I am glad to say Infamous: Second son is a worthy successor to Infamous (and it's sequel which i heard was also great).

The story takes place almost a decade after the second, following the death of Cole, along with many conduits being detained and thrown in jail. We play as Delsin Rowe, a regular young adult (or so he believes, who is the average representation of what adults think young people are like nowadays. Yes Delsin, along with many of the supporting characters who we meet along the way are cardboard cutout, two-dimensional stereotypes. It's not that huge of a problem though. Now, a conduit invades Delsin's lodge or something, and after touching his arm, Delsin learns that he has the conduit power of absorbing other powers. The conduit hunters come in, and their leader, Augustine, in a search for the truth of what happened, jacks up all Delsin's people with her rock powers. This leads Delsin on a quest for her powers so he can save his friends and family. It's a little underdeveloped for my tastes, but still delivers. The story is short yes, but with the two different endings that can be achieved, it makes you want to play the game twice. I of course went the villain path first, no hesitation.

The gameplay is more refined and entertaining as ever. It's the standard infamous first person shooting, but what's different here is the inclusion of FOUR different conduit powers to be unlocked and used in battle. I personally enjoyed the Neon powers, which felt like Cole's signature electric abilities. Each ability has it's own unique attacks and special attacks, they all feel different. Now the moral choices. They don't have as much impoact as infamous 1. Having played the game twice to get both endings, the game progresses the same way no matter what you pick. You don't get any special phone calls from allies, nothing. The only thing that is different is some of the powers you can unlock. Oh, and one more thing, the game looks beautiful, no doubt one of the best looking PS4 games currently.

Infamous Second son, while not as good as the first, is a worthy successor to it's two predecessors.

InFamous: Second Son isn't going to move PS4s. Does that make it any less of a game? Absolutely not. (Disclaimer: I've never played InFamous 2.) Second Son is a good game. One of the best on the PS4 that isn't some re-release of a game that came out a year before. Second Son doesn't have a golden story or characters, and I personally don't like the completely Black/White morality choices, but goddamn is it a fun game to play. Its more or less a third person shooter without a cover system, but instead relies on traversing rooftop to rooftop to avoid getting totally rekt (which is easy to do), and picking off enemies one at a time with the four original and cool powers that you get over the course of the game. Each of these powers having their pros and cons (the last power comes in too late for it to even be considered useful), but they all have their own style/flair/abilites/core traversal moves, Smoke/Neon being my favorite. The game is also really pretty to look at, even though it may not be the most colorful game ever, its lighting, contrast, and saturation all blend beautifully, and the game never leaves its steady 30 frames. But I like I said before, the story isn't perfect. The voice acting is really well done, and the chemistry between characters is good, but the story is far too simple. It tries to be grandiose in its simplicity, but fails. The story isn't much with different (Good/Evil) moralities besides a few scenes that don't offer much, and sometimes the scenes will be exactly the same. The side objectives really aren't that great either. There a few cool (though overly simplistic) ones such as spray painting graffiti with the PS4 Controller Touch Pad which was a nice break from the combat, but most are hunting some guy down in a crowd, or finding an audio log and cameras which are all too simple. But of course, the combat is really the big star of show anyway, and for me, anyway, it was really fun. Overall I do recommend buying on sale. $30-$40 is a good price for a 15-20 hour game. Expand

inFamous Second Son is a tech demo for the PS4. I can hardly think of this game as a labour of love from the developers. It just feels like some out of touch executive was the main force behind it all.

Graphics-wise, it's very bland. There's facial mo-cap like in L.A. Noir, and some skills are flashy and all. But the city is very bland and you see the same enemies and citizens all over.

There's no re-playability. The story is filled with plot holes, and is just very uninteresting and uninspired.
Protagonist is a whiny little stereotypical teenager that you can't connect with on any sort of level.
Side missions are a chore. Choices in this game are a complete joke - 'evil' choices make no sense.
The worst part is you can't skip the story since it's tied to how the game loads (no blank loading screen just playing the game). To be honest, having to sit through it again - I'd rather just have a loading screen.

Combat can be a bit interesting, but definitely not a game seller - especially when it's so un-challenging.

The 'Red Faction: Guerrilla' progression in the game is dated and feels forced on you.

The gimmicky graffiti sections just seem to add to your distaste with Delsin. I bet no one thought it was a good idea except for that executive producer that read in some 90s magazine that kids like graffiti. On that note - I'm surprised this game doesn't have skateboards.

Honestly, if you get this game for free with your console - then who cares right?
But this isn't worth your money. Don't be fooled by other reviews. I have no idea who are these 2000 people that thought this warranted a high score...

This instalment of the series has a much more realistic-like setting which I personally like less that the original settings. I also found the game short (I mean the main story) in comparison with the other two games. Other than that, the game play and everything else is quite similar to the previous infamous games in a good way.
