There is an endgame but it doesn't offer much especially as the end game activities are mostly available throughout the story if you're good enough. After the story it offers the activities you didn't complete in the open world such as locate, hunt and discover objectives as well as district showdowns and the 'Paper Trail' addition that involves a lot of complicated internet scrolling. However once you've 100% the events and you have the (fairly easy) platinum trophy there are raids in which a group of enemy's crowd together and you need to take them down, this just repeats, not many games offer a life beyond 100% but the lack of multiplayer does shorten the lifespan of this one. The story/s are really quite good but are probably only 10 hours most in length, it's a good game to get if you're just starting life on PS4 but if you like playing with friends and online competitive it obviously can't provide. However, the missions could've been better, as they tend to get a little repetitive. The boss fights are great.
Overall, a game definitely worth buying.

Everything about Infamous: Second Son just screams cool - from the urban alt-punk Seattle aesthetic, to the badass Native American protagonist Delsin Rowe. Whether you decide to take Delsin down the path to becoming a True Hero or pave the streets with chaos and blood as you become Infamous, it’s going to be a hell of a ride.

I cannot give this game enough praise. Second Son takes everything that was great about the franchise thus far and bumps it up a notch, from visuals, to narrative, to characterization. Tight controls give you easy access to all of Delsin’s abilities, and, man, he has a lot of them. There are plenty of PS4 performance gimmicks abound – it’s easy to tell this was in the early days of the console’s lifecycle. Interactions with the environment like opening doors require swiping across the touchpad but it works surprisingly well.

Picking up a few years after Cole’s exploits in the first two games, you play as conduit Delsin Rowe during a government takeover over Seattle. Moving from one story mission to the next is much the same as it was in previous titles, but while parkouring to your next destination there is plenty going on the streets of Seattle to distract you, mainly the DUP (Department of Unified Protection) who is oppressing the people of Seattle and your fellow conduits. Each “zone” of Seattle is under their control and by disrupting their activities you can push them out of sections of the city, which allow you more freedom of movement and the establishment of fast travel points.

All of these actions, depending on how they are executed, will affect your Karma and help you progress down the path of good or evil. The Karma system even affects your powers and facilitates your progress down either of those roads by granting Delsin abilities that will either pacify or obliterate your opponents.
The cast of characters is varied, but a bit cliché. The other conduits you recruit along the way do not get fleshed out as much as I would like, but it’s a great moment in the game when you see them all coming together to fight the powers that be.

Infamous Second Son is just a great game, and among my top PS4 picks. Good and Evil paths and higher difficulties give you plenty of reasons to come back, as well as the always present lure of more trophies. If you were like me and still hadn’t picked up this PS4 exclusive, gogogogogogo.

    Pros:
---Delsin Rowe is awash with personality
    ---Gameplay is tight
---Visuals are stunning for an early game on the hardware
    Cons:
--- Could have used more story related missions

This game has awesome graphics, great gameplay, and offers a decent story and makes a good game by itself, yet the game gets pulled down by repetitive missions, and a kinda short story if you go all story.

inFamous: Second Son is an amazing game. It was one of the first titles I grabbed for my new PS4 and I couldn't have been happier with it. Fun open world, with a lot to do. Great story. The customization of superpowers adds something special to this game, and I loved the protagonist of this game. Definitely worth your time!

Crafting a more memorable lead character was necessaryinFamous Second Son's Delsin split opinions at launch. Some were put off by his arrogance, whilst others - myself included - enjoyed his distinct personality. Either way, the ever-present Troy Baker does a fantastic job of bringing to life our hero (or villain) who avoids joining the long list of predictable video game protagonists. Crafting a more memorable lead character was necessary for the inFamous franchise, given the forgettable Cole McGrath of the series' previous outings.

As for the game itself, the structure follows a sort of procedural upgrade system. For the most part, the story simply directs you to new upgrades and powers whilst introducing some memorable characters along the way. Despite this seemingly repetitive choice of game design, the new abilities - whilst mostly being alterations on their original counterparts - always just about do enough to keep things fresh. Switching between them and upgrading them on your own accord gives a great sense of freedom to play the game mostly how you want to within the preset constructions. In this respect, collecting blast shards is essential if you want to improve your powers, and so scavenging collectibles actually has a meaning and doesn't just act as a factor of longevity as it does in most games of this ilk.

All that said, I did initially have qualms with the core combat system. At first I couldn't get on with the reticle; it felt like I couldn't be as precise as I would have liked with my long-range powers, but over time I developed a knowhow and became accustomed with the multiple variants on the numerous combat options. In the end, the array of choices at your disposal when in combat are what keep said mechanic from growing stale.

The story is predictable in places and you'll occasionally roll your eyes at the cringy script, but for the most part it keeps you intrigued and you'll grow to see Delsin as a more human character at important plot points during the tale, nicely contrasting with his otherwise 'couldn't care less' attitude toward life. What's more, whilst most games would settle for a single storyline, inFamous Second Son - much like the inFamous games that came before - allows you to play as a hero or a villain and the publics perspective of you will alter respectively. This feature could have been invested in a bit more as in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter what your peers think of you - they won't inflict any real impact on you either way, but it is a nice idea if not one that has been fully realised yet after three games in the series.

Alas, the point I was getting around to is that, having completed the game as a Hero, the game has provided me with an incentive to go back through it again as a Villain; to see how certain scenes would play out if I had made different choices, and developers Sucker Punch ought to be commended for that somewhat unique approach to game design.

They might also be commended for the handful of taxing boss battles that take place in the game. Sure, they often take on a classic boss battle approach i.e. the boss performs the same moves in a routine and you have to work out how to exploit that, so some would not be too psyched about this element of the game and I can sympathise with that. Personally however, I usually felt that the bosses themselves provided enough motive to want to take them down, meanwhile the aforementioned varied combat system did enough to keep me mixing things up and testing new approaches. Regardless, the bass battles are unlikely to be one size fits all in terms of preference, but given the rest of the game's consistent quality, I think most players will be able to overlook that.

All in all, inFamous Second Son is an enjoyable romp that provides some unexpected twists, meaning it just about stands out in the crowded sandbox genre. Lacklustre side missions offer no real incentive to return to the game and the combat can take time to get to grips with, but aside from that Second Son offers a beautiful take on Detroit with a bizarre fiction and refreshing gameplay mechanics that keeps you entertained from start to finish, if not fully enthralled.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. inFamous: Second Son is a superhero action game which is somewhat let down by some design choices and the fact that it was essentially a launch title for the PS4.

Story: it is a sequel to the previous 2 games, but not a direct one, as Cole (RIP) has been replaced by Delsin Rowe, who is a far more likeable character, a young man with a passion for life (and his powers). Delsin is a mutant (or, in inFamous language, a Conduit) who can copy the power of other mutants by touching them. Delsin's brother Reggie is the usual big brother who worries about his young brother, and Augustine (the main antagonist) is a mutant who wants to protect mutants from humans by... arresting (!) and imprisoning (!) them. The story isn't anything great or original, but it is good enough (and short, too), with messages about Big Brother, racism and family. As with previous games, the player can make choices (good karma and bad karma) in crucial moments in the story, but it's nothing too different between good karma and bad karma, so no Mass Effect or Dragon Age branching dialogue/choices here.

Gameplay: Delsin has access to 4 different powers smoke, neon, video (my favorite) and concrete (whereas Cole only had access to electricity). Each power is somewhat different, but 90% of the move set is the same across all of them. Smoke is more of an all-around power, neon is about speed and Max-Payne-style slow-motion aiming, video lets you fly and summon angels, and concrete is more about brute force (but you gain it at the very end, and don't have enough time to practice and enjoy it). The game is structured around missions in an open world, the map is divided into areas (districts), and features both story missions and side ones (which are the same for every district, like finding a secret agent or shooting hidden cameras). Your aim is to complete the story, and drive the DUP (some kind of Police) out of every district of the city by doing side missions. When you power up Delsing (which is done by collecting shards across the map), you will enjoy traversing the city in super ways! Also, your actions determine your karma (good or bad) and unlock different perks for your powers.

Not everything is great, though. As I said, it is essentially a launch title, and the game suffers a bit as developers Sucker Punch had to ready the game in a short time and optimise it. There are no game breaking glitches or bugs (like Assassin's Creed Unity for example), but gameplay is somewhat more limited than in inFamous 1/2. Cole had more moves at his disposal, and the map was bigger (I 'd say about 2 times bigger), and that reflects the time the game lasts (I beat the game and all side missions in around 8-10 hours, in contrast with the 20 hours it took me to beat both previous games).

Graphics: the game is simply beautiful and colorful, in contrast to previous inFamous games which were too dark for my taste. The lighting model is awesome. Character models are top quality, especially in cut-scenes, and motion/performance capture is fantastic. It runs at 30-40 fps, but you can lock it to 30 fps and experience no judder in a 60 Hz TV. Finally, you can freely pause the game with L3 and open up Photo Mode, which lets you position the camera as you please and take screenshots (which you can then transfer to a PC and do whatever you want with them).

Sound: dialogue and special effects are great. The soundtrack is meh.

All in all, inFamous: Second Son is the best superhero game there is. Buy it and enjoy it. And if you want more, there is the stand alone (no need to own inFamous: Second Son) downloadable inFamous: First Light which stars another character, Fetch, with her neon power.

One of the BEST super hero games you can play. In comparison to the two previous titles, it isn't so over overflowing with content, but it doesn't matter, the game is still fun to play and i think it is even better than the two ones. And that graphics and design are pretty awesome, including mocap, One of my favorite PS4 games.

The best parts about this game are the graphics, the explosions, the action, and the graphics. The graphics really show what next-gen (current-gen now) have to offer. The game is responsive, and it's a very enjoyable experience to blow up everything the D.U.P. has to offer. But this gets old after a while. You start to just do the same things over and over again. This is InFamous Second Son's largest problem, repetitiveness. Very similar missions and tasks are repeated many times. While I never got completely bored of the game, it became more of a chore towards the end. When playing a game, you should not want the game to end, you should want to keep on coming back for more. Story wise, this game is kind of a letdown. There was a lot of potential, but it wasn't fulfilled. At the very beginning, the game does a great job of setting up Delsin and his companions. The middle of the game has a loose story, but most of the time all you know is that you need to blow something up, or catch someone. If the middle of the game had more cut scenes, this could have been avoided, but almost all of the cutscenes are at the beginning, with a few towards the end as well. I know I have said it already, but the environments are absolutely beautiful. Seattle seems alive, but at the same time, very dull. There are many characters roaming the streets, but none of them are very smart, using the same animations and dialogue over and over again. This takes away from the realism of Seattle. There aren't very many memorable locations either. This creates an unmemorable experience for a lot of the game. The powers that Delsin uses look absolutely amazing and are a blast to use. Learning new abilities are what keep me coming back to the game, which makes the game difficult to play more than once. So far I've only played the evil side of Delsin. While there are minor changes on the good side story wise, there are very few power wise. Generally, everything is the same. This makes the game a one time play through, until you have forgotten some of the story and feel like playing again. The main story probably takes about 10 hours to complete, not including side missions. For some, that may not be worth $60. If you are a big fan of open world superhero games, want something to show off your new PS4 with, or just need a game to play on PS4, you will probably enjoy this game. I fit into a couple of those categories, which is why I gave InFamous Second Son a 9/10. Expand

The main protagonist Delsin Rowe who is played by the terrific actor in Troy Baker is known to what he calls himself a "power sponge" who can absorb powers from other conduits which adds more choices as to how you can play this game in an awesome, fun and kick ass way and the colours you see from these new powers are spectacular to see and make Cole's electricity seem boring. The story does seem a tad weak but it is interesting enough to keep you intrigued and there are some good emotional moments found at the latter stages of the game.

I found the main protagonist, Delsin to be a funny and awesome character who at times can get on your nerves but overall is a great character because unlike Cole he embraces his powers (although not at first) and loves the things you can do similar to you, the player.

Moving on to the side missions on this game they have new and interesting missions not seen in previous games and though some are very cool and i loved the stencil missions which uses the controller in an awesome and new way, most do tend to get very repetitive but they are not particularly frustrating so i personally didn't mind them.

    Summary:
The brilliant and cool new powers in this game awesome and extremely fun and kept me wanting to play the game into early hours of the morning but the much more intelligent AI make this game still very challenging at times especially in the boss fights which i felt was important for balancing reasons, story is good enough for your to enjoy and invest yourself in, The new side mission are cool but somewhat repetitive, the graphics and location and something new and awesome that your eyes will have never seen before and flying round the city and beating challenging enemies with your powers and with spectacular colour has never been so fun. Overall 9/10
Negatives: (Slightly lacking story, repetitive side missions)

    the negatives:
diverse side missions that effected karma in the first two games have been really stripped down to like two or three in second son, the enemy variety isn't as good as the first two games in which you had to combat multiple factions. I second son you have: the DUP, drug dealers, cops, and gangsters. The last three are no where near as dynamic to fight as the DUP, however, there are times when you are fighting the DUP plus one more two of the other groups so that makes it more interesting. My last negative has to deal with one of the powers, the last one you get ( before dlc anyway). The last power feels stripped down compaired to the others. There have even been cases of animations errors with this particular powerset. Hopefully sucker punch will improve on it with patches and even dlc.

While there is some good in this game, the story is the negative part of this game. The campaign took me about 6 hours to complete, while also doing some of the side missions.

The karma decisions in this game are WAY dumbed down in this game and do not really affect the story at all until the ending. When I played through as evil, I felt that Delsin was being forced to be evil, and there was no appearance change like in Infamous 1 and 2 to make it seem that he was more of a villain.

Overall, Infamous Second Son is a okay game, but dissapointing as a fan of the series. The graphics and powers are great but the story felt rushed.

But Second Son is a great game for play-ability, an engaging story with witty and smart writing and very well done cutscenes that'll have you rubbing your eyes in the realism of the facial expressions, even if characters do still move like they've had a stroke sometimes.

The Infamous series has been an equal mix of the ambitious and the pedestrian, and SS is no real exception to that. Let me splain. First off, we've got to the 3rd game in the series and the protagonist may actually have an excuse to have the parkour/free-running skills that the bike messenger of the first game was supposed to have, but not really. Just like, for example, Assassin's Creed II is to have you believe Ezio didn't need any real training to do most of what he does in AC II, then the Infamous games just get you right into the action. Second Son is light on the tutorial part as well, which is welcome, but it still has to do the whole "see, he can get around the countryside like a Tomb Raider, see?" and there is a VERY brief moment of panic from Delsin Rowe when he first gets powered up, then he quickly sees the advantage of what he's got now and cool, we can move on. What is also contrived is when and how Delsin acquires new powers and upgrades as well as blast shards, which just so happen to be the same things from the first two games, but they appear here from a totally different method. These are arbitrary game design decisions to get you powers when they want you to, but to also let you get a few powers in quick succession so you can have a good time playing the game. What I'm getting to is the game never lets you forget i'ts a game, but at the same time wants you to care about the story, the characters and immerse you in the environment. But some issues with gameplay do hinder this ambitious objective.

First off, the free running/parkour stuff is a bit loose and not as fun and smooth as the first two games for some reason. I don't remember having this much trouble getting around Empire City or New Marais. In fact, the (spoiler) neon power of just running up buildings and the smoke power of using vents almost seems like a fix for this issue as much as fun elements. Also, fighting enemies, of which the variety is low, seems awkward and hurly burly. Some enemies can launch themselves out of nowhere to slam into you and the environments are often so BUSY with civilians, cars and other detail in the background it's often hard to pick out enemies in the scrums, especially if you're paying as Good and want to not kill the peeps. Some attacks that stun enemies can help with crowd control, but again, these attacks as well as the BIG attacks you earn for karma streaks seem like solutions to problems as much as an enjoyment.

Ironically once of the biggest issues is the level of graphical detail and lighting. Quite a bit of the game takes place mid-afternoon...although since it's also an open world game, meaning you can spend dozens of hours with time basically frozen (another contrived element in Infamous rather than day/night cycles...it's an open world game, but in which certain story sections take place a certain times of day/night, which has never worked for me in this series) ...but with heavy shadows, that creates a dim, muddy palette in which some enemies are just shadows. Also, how much realism should we have in these next-gen games? I'm sure the Devs appreciate the "meh, too short, I'll wait until it's $30" stuff I've seen out there. But I'm wondering if the level of detail, which in this game is pretty shocking, I mean this game is a labor of love people, and the bar is set very high now...but I'm wondering if things like lighting and level of detail in the sense of saturation of objects isn't getting in the way of making a great video game.

All that relative nit-picking out of the way, the game is great fun, the power options, letting you choose different powers pretty much on the fly most of the time that do have some uniqueness to them, the level of immersion that is here, the interesting characters, the tagging, the voice acting, just the sheer effort that went into this game, etc. This is a great game, maybe not the "have to have PS4 now" game it wanted to be, but a success with just a few issues to keep it from being a 10 for me.

It truly showed off beautiful art styles and design that you will not see in many games. The story did a great job at bringing infamous back to life and I felt more connected to Delsin from his witty sarcastic charm. The bonus content in the Collectors edition which gave you brief insight to how the conduits survived was welcomed, but felt a little short and craving for more development. So let us get right to it.
    The Good:
Great story kept you looking forward to the next mission and power, unraveling what was the next step.
Beautiful graphics. Any of the people who say Titan Fall has better graphics are talking bananas to pineapples. You can't compare the two because they are on different scales.
Amazing powers, each felt unique and tailored to using in different circumstances or using whatever is readily available.
Character Development was spot on and gave you a feeling of caring for what happen's to group like you did in the other 2 games.
I personally enjoyed the fact that side missions blended together with the game allowing you to complete everything without truly realizing it.
    The bad:
The parkour jumping system seemed a little buggy and broken at times really frustrating and eventually it just seemed better to use a power to get to the top of a building.
The side missions were a little repetitive as far as what to collect how to clear areas and what not.
The Cole Legacy missions felt short and a little rushed made it hard to engage in the story when you got cut off at the knees so quickly.
Frustrating that when you absorb a power and are almost done that if you get hit you would lose everything and have to try again.

Verdict Overall a great game and really enjoyable. Will definitely help people get their fill of Infamous while waiting for a possible third game. A must buy for fans of the series and for PS4 owners.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well, where do I begin? There's not much negative to say about this game. Reviewers are nitpicking over the story for what? The main character of the story, Delsin, is an average skater, BMX, extreme sports, rebellious/happy-go-lucky kind of guy. You wouldn't love him. You wouldn't hate him. The story is good enough to get the player immersed into the game. The detail and graphics are sheer eye candy. The detail and shading in the lighting will definitely catch your eye. Get your hands on this game and use a "karma charged" power and you'll see exactly what I mean. The side missions get more difficult with each one completed and the enemies vary in number so the repetition factor is kept to a minimum. These are the types of games that showcase the Playstation 4's capabilities. My only problem with the game is fast traveling. There should've been more fast travel points built in and that's the only negative thing about the game. This game pushes the ps4, but not even close to it's limit. The developers tried to use the new features of the Dualshock 4 to give the player more immersion, like using the controller as a spray can and using your fingertip to identify yourself at checkpoints. The game is running smoothly and I've noticed only a few framedrops when the action got a little bit too crazy. but nothing to be alarmed by.

In inFamous Second Son you play as Delsin, an unlikable guy who gets superpowers by touching other "conduits" (that's people with superpowers). There are 4 powers to be gained throughout the story, each with some unique abilities. However, these unique abilities are not enough to keep things fresh and you'll soon stick to your favourite power. The game sometimes forces you to use a specific power to proceed, but mostly you can choose which power you want to use. It's is fun to mix things up, but you can't combine powers for different combo's as you'll need to find a power source to change powers.

The story is paperthin and the main character is an unlikable dickhead. The gameplay makes up for a lot, but it does get repetitive. The story isn't that long either and it'll be over before you know it. You can play the game again making different choices, but it doesn't chance the experience that much.

As one of Sony's flagship franchices I expected a bit more. Second Son plays it by the book and delivers a polished game, but it doesn't really do anything new and it doesn't set the bar for years to come. At a price point of $69,99 I wouldn't pick it up a second time. Get it once it's cheaper or wait for it on PlayStation Plus.

There are small flaws in this game, such as not being to interact with the world around you much. However that is a flaw many open-world games have and it is not big enough of a problem to detract you from the overall enjoyment of the game.

This flagship title is a prime example of what to expect from this console in the future, all PS4 owners should own this game.

I beg to differ, it's not night and day different, but it's enough for me. It feels just like what I'm used to and what I was expecting, but enough added in to give it a fresher feel.

I also thought why are people complaining about a game that stays true to what it is. Heck we're used to all these things that are always the same. People always drink the same brand of the same pop, they make a new one and you might try and like it enough, but you'll go back to what you like and know. Also applies to games, Mario games, a lot of them are generally similar, Pokemon, every one I've tried to play are actually exactly the same except for added monsters and maybe it being in colour now.

So at the end of the day, this game is a must play on the PS4. The story isn't as great as the original, but it's still good. Graphic and effects are fantastic and it plays really well. I'll come back to it again soon, have to play the evil side and on harder, and probably again some other time in the future when I want to go crazy with super powers though a city.

All the bad reviews here are a shame since this truly is a good game and much better than infamous1. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should compare this game to Titanfall. Anyone who even mentions this game in the review can automatically be discounted and labeled as an XBox fanboy. Metacritic should really have some kind of authentication for people who have actually played and owned the game.

What inFAMOUS: Second Son is however, is a game with more or less the same mechanics that were present in the first two games on the PS3 with an updated story and vastly updated graphics. Instead of the very bland and gravely voiced Cole McGrath we get the snarky douchebag Delsin Rowe. At first i wasn;t the biggest fan of Cole's or Delsin's for that matter but just like the first two games you grow to love them with your choices in the game. The story at it's surface isn't anything special. Once you start to dig around and collect the dead drops in the combination ARG/in game "Paper Trail" mission i found myself wanting to know more about the D.U.P. and their involvement with Curden Cay (The prison that the captured "bio-terrorists" are sent to). Over all it would get a 7 from me but is boosted by the inclusiuon of an amazing mix of ARG and in game missions.
So at the end of the day:

    Pros:
Your choices, while simple, do affect the story so at least 2 play throughs are needed
Delsin is a much more entertaining character than Cole
    "super" moves are satisfying
ARG elements mixed with in game missions feels fresh

    Cons:
Frame rate issues when everything is exploding on screen
Story overall doesn't feel as good as I1&2

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oh, Second Son, how you toy with me. I have a love hate relation with the game. On one hand, it is the best looking game on consoles, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if screen caps are confused with images from high-end gaming PCs. On the other, the story was very meh. It's not as grandiose as the previous two (or even three, if you count Festival of Blood) games. That's not to say it's bad, but the story could have been boiled down to a few missions, making room for a much more inFAMOUSy story. Anyway, let me just write down some, uh, "bullet-points", sans bullets. The characters were good, but of the five or so supporting characters only one was fleshed out much, but even then, it wasn't enough to make me care much when that character died. Double spoilers, it's Reggie. Abigail "Fetch" Walker held a lot of promise; she lived on the streets of Seattle with her brother, and both were "taken in" by a gang of drug dealers. They both got addicted, she killed her brother using her neon powers while in a drug-fueled rage and decides to take out her anger on the drug dealers that use Seattle as their stomping grounds. Good, dark back story that is not yet a cliche, but will be soon, thanks to Breaking Bad. Sucker Punch had a chance to use this character and make her great, but they didn't. A few "drug busts" later and you don't see her again until the end of the game. Another side character was Eugene Sims. He could have been good too, a withdrawn kid who discovers he has powers a year after his mother, a senator, votes to give money to the DUP. Harsh, and could have had good family dynamic issues... But no. Sucker Punch makes him a gamer, and a very typical, weird, virgin-type gamer... Which makes you wonder, does Sucker Punch not realize that this is the person that their game is supposed to appeal to? Good job alienating the people who adore you.

Now, the dialogue, on the other hand, was fantastic. Every character felt believable in the moment, and the voice acting at its WORST was good, and throughout the game peaked at an 11.

Content... Now here is where the game was really polarizing. The (story) missions were really good, and they all had about the perfect length. Switching to the other foot, the side missions were terrible. Every "district" had the same missions, cut and paste, verbatim, over and over again. (Get the point?) The side missions were things like "look at this picture, find the person in the crowd, then subdue/kill them before they escape." That would have been fun maybe three or four times. After the twelfth time, it was just ridiculous. There was of course the two side mission sets that were more "story" oriented. These were Cole's Legacy (available with only the Limited and Collector's editions) and Paper Trail, which tried something new by letting you look at evidence on your computer to decipher clues about the crimes that had taken place. Nice idea, but I got sick of it after getting off my PS4 and onto my PC two or three times. Too bad it makes you do it six times in order to get... Not a new, awesome paper power, but a paper bunny mask. Yay.

The atmosphere was at its best near the beginning of the game when it was dusk and very foggy. After that, the city felt dead. Sure, there were people walking around who would occasionally take pictures of you and say things... But there were very few ambient sounds, and the cars are the same Hotwheels that drive in a perfectly straight line and don't dynamically alter their paths to go around obstacles, and the drivers never get out of the vehicles, taking everything in stride.

Gameplay was kind of hit or miss. (Skip this next part if you know what I am talking about.) In the first two games, X was jump. And only jump. This allowed to press X multiple times to scamper up walls to the next handhold. Second Son turns the X button into the glide button as soon as you're in the air, so when climbing buildings, if you press X multiple times, you'll just glide in place. They "balanced" this by making Delsin (the main character) scamper up walls already with a single press of the X button, but this just makes timing awkward. X, wait, X, wait, X; rather than XXXXXXXXXXX. Bad move. The reason they did this (the glide was originally on R1) was so they could use all of the shoulder buttons for different attacks. R1 is heavy missile type attack, R2 is normal gun type of attack, L1 is special, like grenade or invisibility, and L2 is zoom (for those really difficulty moments when you need the FOV to be 85 instead of 90. The Circle button used to be for cover, but now it does dash. This means, obviously, NO COVER. It also makes things awkward when you try to drop down from a ledge, because the Square button is drop...

Some redeeming factors... Camera mode. That's about it.

OK, the game's good, but it's just not as good as the first two (or three...). Something that would have made the game better... UGC. Yep, I said it.

    5000 characters already!!!

InFamous: Second Son is the third title in the InFamous series developed by Sucker Punch. A PS4-exclusive, Second Son is not the fully-realized evolution many were hoping, but it's still a blast of a sequel.

Story: Set seven years after the good ending of InFamous, in SS Conduits are now called Bio-terrorists and being hunted down by a unit called DUP. Delsin Rowe is a young man who discovers he is a Conduit with the rare ability to absorb the powers of other powers. Now, alongside his brother Reggie, Delsin heads over to Seattle in order to confront DUP. Without spoiling too much, SS's story, for the most part, delivers the heights of the previous games. Unfortunately, the script can be sometimes too cliched or jarring, and I'm mostly talking about some of Delsin and Reggie's conversations. Delsin himself is a good character, although he sometimes suffers from slow development. As for the game's ending(s) - well-done! Story: 8.5/10

Graphics: Using an in-house engine, SS is BEAUTIFUL, both in design and animations. Sadly it doesn't use the PS4's full potential and the face animations could have been done better. Score: 9.5/10

Sound: The soundtrack was composed Nathan Johnson, and most of its pieces use guitar, which bloody fits the mood and style of SS's setting. Voice acting is also great with Troy Baker doing a fantastic job as Delsin. 9.5/10

Gameplay: Let's cut short the good things before moving to the bad/mixed things: InFamous SS is fun and easy to play just like the previous games, and each of the powers Delsin obtains throughout the story is so bloody enjoyable to dick around with. Now with that said, let's move to SS's three biggest issues: 1) The powers - while each power is fun on its own, it's a missed opportunity to not be able to mix two or more abilites to create a new type of attack, but sadly InFamous SS doesn't realize the full potential of Delsin's character from a gameplay perspective (although, still, as I said: each power on its own is still awesome); 2) The moral system - after all this talk about morals, SS's moral system doesn't realy add to the whole game... basic good/evil choices that never grow into something meaningful. 3) The city - while Seattle is a really beautiful place to look at, it feel somewhat lifeless compare to GTA V's Los Santos. There are also some AI problems, but the good gameplay elements taken over from the first two games lead me to give the Gameplay section a solid 8.0/10.

Lasting appeal: There's a lot to do in SS, including the good path story, bad path story, side missions and just dicking around in Seattle with the cool and stylish Neon powers. Cole's Legacy DLC also add some time to play. 9.5/10.

The Verdict: InFamous: Second Son is not the revolution the InFamous franchise was hoping to, and it's status as a sandbox game is somewhat below the standards set by GTA V several months ago. It is, however, an amazing game in its own right and a must for every PS4 owner.
    Final score: 9.0/10
Alternate Recommendations: Prototype 2, Saints Row IV, GTA V and Batman Arkahm Knight (once it'll be released).

Well, it is good, fun, but not fresh nor rewarding. Is an Infamous experience waiting to be forgotten.
Sucker Punch, firstly, has really pushed the limits of PS4 to boundaries that really makes the future of the console look exciting. I mean the visual quality of this game is astonishing. Seattle has never looked prettier. The textures are crisp, the lightining is just amazing and the way the game's atmosphere develops is just mind-blowing. Just look at the puddles on the street after it rains. It truly is a very detailed experience.
Sucker Punch also learned from PlayStation's sweetheart studio Naughty Dog, and that's why they casted Troy Baker to play a more Nathan Drake-ish hero in Second Son. Delsin, at the beginning, is a complete dirtbag. I guess they tried to make a Nathan Drake with powers but ended up getting a more Dante Sparda vibe. I also didn't give a damn about his brother or any of the particular other characters you meet for split seconds and then vanish until the last mission. His brother is throughout the story though.
The story, from the beginning, I knew where it was going. I know games shouldn't be compared to movies, but nowadays the game industry has really developed its narratives, developing amazing story-driven games like Gone Home, The Last Of Us, Bioshock or The Walking Dead. So yeah, story in Second Son is not so good. The chemistry between the brothers eventually pays off, but really, the narrative is so predictable that what you think will happen to them will eventually happen, no matter what path (Good or Evil) you take.
Now, this game took a lot of criticism about the karmic decisions, described as pretty extreme or not extreme enough. I always thought these were the worst thing about the Infamous games, because they always seemed to favour being bad instead of good. This game has really found a balance, making either of the choices to play equally badass and I found that very satisfying.
Gameplay, meh. It is not revolutionary. In fact, it is a very, VERY easy game and instead of being compared to previous Infamous, the most logical of comparisons would be to tie it up with Saints Row IV. Hell, even the open world structure is very similar to Saint Row's. In other words, the humour, the map, the side missions. It is all very Saints Row-y. And that's the problem with gameplay in Infamous Second Son. It seriously lacks originality.
You still feel like an unstoppable Sylvester Stallone when pulling out those special moves, but they get repetitive quickly, and as you gain more and more powers, difficulty starts being more about overwhelming enemies than strategic gameplay. The enemies are also very repetitive, and the boss battle, while long, is one of the worst boss battles I have ever played in my life.
InFamous Second Son lacks tons of polish. It is not a bad game, by any means, but it is barely good really. The writing is chuckle-worthy, the powers are fun, Delsin Rowe is amiable, so is his brother, but there is nothing that wants me to play it again, unlike the two previous InFamous.

It is great to see a sequel that sheds many of flaws of the original two games and even gains a new perspective through protagonists and powers without fully forgetting where the series has come from and how far it has gone already. I’ve been particularly happy with the Infamous series over the years, and this game was definitely one of the better ones in my honest opinion. Not only did it look wonderful but the controls felt tight and the overall aesthetics were pleasing and impressive through and through. I loved the choices presented to players as well as the options in response, coupled with the narrative itself and the vivid characters. Truly a wonderful start for the next generation, and a graphical masterpiece in both setting and particle effects in explosions, fires, and powers.

Concept: Explore a realistic setting in a possible future as a super powered conduit named Delsin Rowe, battling the oppressive DUP and fighting for freedom and equality.

Graphics: It’s the little things and the attention to detail that really make the experience, but the excellent animation work pulls it off as well.

Sound: The soundtrack and voice work are both excellent, although the soundtrack pulls the experience along better than the one-liners and humor do.

Playability: Not only is it fun and enjoyable, but highly usable and playable to boot. The makings of an excellent experience if there are any.

Entertainment: Highly entertaining as an adventure and as a story go, for not the first or second, but the third time in a row.

    Replay Value: Moderate.

    Overall Score: 8.25

Well here is Infamous: Second Son. Infamous: Second Son is special as it was supposed to be the game that would sell the PS4 similar to how Titanfall was supposed to sell the XBO. These games were hype to hell. Titanfall while fun missed some basic FPS needs, probably brought by the developers inexperiance. If I reviewed it, it would pro...bably get a 7/10. What about Infamous: Second Son?Well here is Infamous: Second Son. Titanfall while fun missed some basic FPS needs, probably brought by the developers inexperiance. If I reviewed it, it would pro...bably get a 7/10. What about Infamous: Second Son? I mean it's developed by Sucker Punch who made the previous installments and the Sly Cooper series, so you think with this, the game would top of the line, right? Unfortunately no. This game is a huge dissapointment. First I have to talk about the story, It is pretty boring. It amounts to: Character gets powers(conduit); Character is attacked by military against powers(D.U.P.) who attack his people(who will die); Character recruits others with powers; Character finds main boss and beats her. Thats it. It's a shame too, because the actual characters are actually interesting. They develop and have outstanding and even dark backstories. With special mention going to Fetch. She's a former junkie whose parents sold her out to the D.U.P, but she is saved by her brother, they seek refuge from drug dealers and become addicts. Her addiction causes her to kill her brother by accident and as vengence she kills drug dealers. That's good stuff, but if the story is bland than good characters can't save it. With that said the Moral system returns, but again it isn't interesting. In the last game your choices have big impacts, here it seems so small a detail. And the endings are barely different, so causes you to wonder if you should play again. Plus being evil actively contradicts the story and of what Delsin(the main character) is trying to accomplish **** up the story as a whole. I swear by the end I was saying wtf? With that said the Graphics are pretty good and the world is detailed though there is a moment where I got shot into a building(you can't go into buildings) and got stuck because of a glitch. Though this is the only one I found in the game. But of course what matters is the gameplay. So, how is it? First returning is the fact that you absorb material to attain empowerment. What I really like are the powers. In previous games the powers, while fun, were also generic. Here the powers are pretty inventive. By the end you will have Smoke, Neon, Concrete and my favorite Video. These can be upgraded by collecting blast shards and what you get adds tons of fun, because you get certain abilities depending on your Karma(whether it be good or evil). With these you can develop your own style of gamplay. There is also stuff to do in order to increase your karma. Spray-painting, freeing people and drug bust increase good karma and killing civillians of any kind increases bad karma. The main goal aside from completing the story is driving the D.U.P. from the city. This is accomplished by beating up D.U.P, destroying their equipment and taking over their zones. Now reviewers will say the combat isn't that good and I disagree. With all the ways to take down enemies it makes battles versitile. However the problem is the enemies themselves. There isn't a huge veriety in the enemies which means there isn't a need to change your strategy much. The Boss fights are a huge Dissapointment. They aren't even the least be creative or fun. What happened to an awesome boss like Kessler? Augustine is a poor replacement. Hell, the most creative "He Who Dwells", is also the most annoying. Fortunately you won't have to worry about enemies for too long as the main storyline is only five hours long. you could do tjhe other Karma and double it but come on that is short for a next-gen sandbox game. With all this I stand by what I think. This game isn't bad, but with all that hype, it's dissapointing. So this game is pretty much like Titanfall and will have a score of 7/10. This game had a lot of good things going for it, but fell short. It needed a better story and enemies to complement the cool powers. I would try it, but only as a rental. Expand

Forgetting that piece of plastic in your hands and having good old fashioned fun. The story is great too. It could be better and longer though. The character development was lacking for the supporting cast and I found myself only caring about the main character, Delsin, and his older brother, Reggie. Overall, this is a great installment in the Infamous series. You do not need to have played the previous two games to understand the plot. But if you have played the others like me, there are some really interesting references to the previous games. Worth every cent. This is definitely a buy for all PS4 owners, and not because there is a drought in games, but because it is such a great game. Expand

Good, but not great. It looks fantastic as you would expect and whilst the game play is similar to the 1st two games, the additional powers certainly mix it up a bit and give you a bit more variety. I thought the gameplay was again, good but not great. The game was pretty short, I completed everything in a week. Definetly worth the price of admission but dont expect anything mind blowing

Firstly, the game looks absolutely superb on the PS4; the lighting and general textures are fantastic and the colourful effects really add to the gorgeous backdrop. The game performs solidly throughout and with it being such an early game in the consoles lifespan; it's definitely encouraging to see. Too many areas around the Seattle location are copy and pasted though and this makes for a repetitive feel to the scenery and the overall gameplay in time.

You play a young man called Delsin who acquires superpowers through an accident and it up to you how you use them - you can either be good or evil. The lead character is extremely irritating although he is supported by a significantly more mature and intriguing cast. However, the narrative doesn't go deep enough and most of the time you are given 50/50 choices on how to proceed. It just feels a bit linear. Whether you are good or evil; it opens the doors to a couple of play-through's but you may be bored after just one outing.

The game takes about 12-15 hours to finish which isn't very long and with a lack of an engrossing story, an poor lead character and repetitive gameplay; Infamous just lacks what is required of such a game. It's a sandbox but the overlay structure and depth is somewhat lacking. For an early PS4 game; this will pass as an acceptable title but it fails to maximise the potential of the console and the growing genre. This game is not worth full price and even around the £25 mark; it may be wise to skip and look elsewhere. In a few years time; this game will be gone and long forgotten.

Second Son is a strong, but imperfect, PS4 debut of the Infamous franchise.

Where the series has excelled before, Infamous continues to impress, with large-scale battles between superhuman characters across beautifully detailed cities. The visuals of Second Son are surprisingly advanced from the first two Infamous games on PS3, and are arguably the best yet out of any PS4 game. The depth of the particle effects are obvious from as soon as you use your first superpower of smoke, and continue to amaze with each following superpower unlock.

The powers themselves are a mixed bag. They're fun to use in combat situations, are very visually impressive, and thematically diverse (without going into heavily spoilery content, the second elemental power you unlock is the ability to weaponize neon lights found across the city). They are not, however, particularly diverse in terms of their uses in actual gameplay, which is a minor setback that stifles the novelty of each power.

Second Son features a morality system, similar to that of games like Mass Effect, in which there are certain points in the story where you can make black-or-white choices that are explicitly good or evil, and influence the outcome of the story. This translates to gameplay as well; if you chose to be Good, you could evolve your powers to be more precise so as to non-lethally neutralize enemies, whereas if you chose to be Evil, you could gain more powerful but reckless attacks that would endanger surrounding citizens. Playing through the game twice, once with each morality path in mind, can be especially rewarding, and allows you to experience two vastly different gameplay styles and stories.

Unfortunately, Second Son's weakest link is its narrative and characters. The plot doesn't really avoid common storytelling tropes that we've all come to recognize in video games, and while the Good/Evil stories are nice in concept, they're often quite predictable. The motion/voice capture used to create the game's stunningly detailed cutscenes is impressive, and the performance of Troy Baker, playing the game's protagonist, is particularly outstanding, but the writing doesn't truly shine until the game's latter half or so. Most of the minor characters are forgettable, and tend to be of far less significance than Delsin after their debut.

    In short:
Pros - probably the best visuals out of any PS4 game; almost a complete absence of bugs/glitches; superpowers are consistently fun to play with; interesting Good/Evil dynamic.
Cons - story is rather predictable; powers aren't as diverse as they initially seem to be; any character whose name isn't Delsin Rowe and doesn't wear a beanie is forgettable.

As a big fan of the first game, I loved SS. The gameplay and use of Deslin's powers are flawless and the concept behind the third power I thought was genius. I would reccomend however waiting to get a 100% till the end so you can have more fun with the last power. The story is also a high point where in the last act I was sitting on the edge of my seat fighting against the DUP. TheAs a big fan of the first game, I loved SS. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To be honest with you, I haven't played the game yet. But I have seen multiple game walkthroughs of it on YouTube. I wasn't really pleased with the storyline even though the graphics and animations were beautiful. Even though there were subtle messages of discrimination in the game, it was heavily overshadowed by heavy violence. The attacks also are pretty repetitive(i.e. same shooting, ground pound, hovering, going up walls, etc. Even more frustrating was the fact that you can't even swim! The side missions were also pretty repetitive too to add to my frustration. The story was ludicrous for both Karmic plotlines, who goes up against the dictators just to save a family? The fact how Augustine still uses her Conduit abilities also confused the heck out of me, she would have been easily captured. The facial animations were also pretty awkward and unemotional in some cases.

Even though I support the fact Conduits shouldn't be labeled "Bio-Terrorists", I agree the same thing with the non-Conduits, I was angered at the fact the developers made the non-Conduits weak and helpless, just because they don't have "powers". My anger heats up with Reggie reduced from a big-time sheriff to a dude-in-distress, increased even more when Abigail Walker and Eugene Sims come in. Reggie is then used as emotional leverage to influence Delsin and the player's decisions, which cheeses me off! The game developers killed Reggie off even though Reggie should've been given a larger support role. I also hated the fact how Delsin "leaves Reggie for his own safety" and then... Delsin asks Eugene to help free the suspected Conduits even though Eugene has no formal combat training like Reggie and Abigail does. Pffft... Oh well, I'm looking forward to the sequel after I play and finish this game.

The graphics are outstanding, each set of powers looks unique and stands out. The characters are well modeled and the motion cap is impressive although at times it does look a little odd.

The game rarely stutters, I had it slowdown during one mission about 2/3rds through the game that involves an overpass and that was about it.

The only downsides I could think of for this game are the side missions to clear out each part of Seattle are the same throughout the entire game. Raid a settlement, destroy some cameras and shoot down a lot of drones. By the time you reach the second half, you'll do these things only because you need to upgrade your powers or you're chasing trophies.

The morality system is very forced, I played through the game as a hero and you are rewarded for doing certain things during fights (not killing enemies or injuring civilians). There are also side quests that pop up on the map for helping with your karma but like the other game side quests, they are very repetitive after the first few times you do them.

I really did enjoy the game but the lack of variety in the side missions and the morality system brought me down from a 9-9.5 to an 8. Definitely recommended to anyone that is looking for a fun game to play but if it's out of your preferred genre it might be worth waiting until it goes on sale.
