Heavy Rain is very much the kind of game I like to play; it’s smart, interesting, different and highly focused. Cage might be a one-of-a-kind game director and thinker, and I do wish more developers paid attention to how he approaches his storytelling.

Newcomers should give it a shot on the PS4, while those who already played through it might want to give it another go and see it look better than ever before.

The PS4 is now fully loaded for all the interactive drama adventure genre games you could want. I would probably put Until Dawn at the top of the list of games in the genre, but Heavy Rain still holds a red balloon in my heart.

Six years after its original release on PlayStation 3, Heavy Rain is still a game that every narrative-driven videogames fan should play.

Heavy Rain looks fantastic on PS4 and still has the power and sophistication to leave a lasting impression. Despite not fixing the glitches and awkward, robotic crowd scenes for this remaster, Quantic Dream’s interactive drama is an absorbing experience not to be missed.

It doesn’t offer anything new for anyone who already played the original. On the other hand, the graphics are significantly overhauled, making this remastered version a safe choice for anyone who didn’t had the chance to experience this excellent interactive drama.

If you like this kind of adventures, Heavy Rain is one of the best. There's no evolution if you've played it before, but it's probably aimed at those who didn't own at PS3.

One of the best works from Quantic Dream comes to PS4 keeping its quality intact but including minor changes to its original formula.

It still tells a satisfyingly poignant, absorbing, and dark tale.

Even right now Heavy Rain doesn't look as technically impressive as the original game when we played it six years ago, the legacy of the game is still here. Heavy Rain is a good thriller that defines David Cage's interactive drama and now can be played by new PlayStation users on PS4.

Its main core (story and a very unique gameplay) are still in good shape. A thriller about redemption, responsibility and hatred that will keep your brain running. It's not a game for everyone and its technical features are not as impressive as they were 6 years ago.

This is a great game that still has the power to engross today’s gaming audience. However, for all those who have played it already, I hate to rain on your parade, but Heavy Rain might not be worth another visit.

This remaster retains and showcases Heavy Rain’s best assets (we’re so sorry). Some wobbles, however, have also made the jump to PS4. [June 2016, p76]

As remasters go, it's not a total washout - but it's not the stunning revamp it could have been. As a PS3 classic now available on PS4, however? Essential. [May 2016, p.87]

Heavy Rain is an absolute classic of its unique genre of videogames. The story of the origami killer can still charm with its blend of mystery and noir ingredients and the remastered graphics are a plus to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the gameplay mechanics feel a little old, but this alone doesn't really kill the experience as a whole.

After six years Heavy Rain is still a great interactive adventure filled with an interesting story. This remaster includes minor changes that don’t affect the way you'll it play, but some graphic tweaks are very pleasant.

It's marvelous to return to one of the better histories from David Cage and Quantic Dream, and the remaster of Heavy Rain is the ideal pretext.

A few years later, Heavy Rain has aged well in some aspects, and worst in others, but it's still one of the best cinematic experiences you can live on a home console.

This new edition of Heavy Rain highlights one of its best features: a great art direction and presentation. However, apart from the graphic improvements, there's not much else. It is a great cinematic experience, but the lack of additional content keeps us from recommending it to someone who has already finished the game in the past.

Six years may have passed since Heavy Rain was first released, but it still holds up very well and is a nice addition to the PS4's library.

Although its clunky controls and inconsistent voice acting dates Heavy Rain, it still remains enjoyable (if mad) B-grade sholock. A stunning visual upgrade on the PlayStation 4 makes this the version to grab if you’re new to developer Quantic Dream’s games, and existing fans should find enjoyment in a richer aesthetic this time around.

The game is always concerned with telling a story rather than selling us the gimmick of player agency.

Re-releasing Heavy Rain in the current landscape does much to sharply contrast everything good and bad about it. Its commendable presentation is amplified, as too are its grander faults in storytelling and voice acting. And yet even as there are games that succeed where Heavy Rain fails, it can still be said there’s almost nothing else like it.

Heavy Rain on the PS4 is pretty much the game we know from PS3 but with better graphics. If you wanted something more, a complete edition of sorts, you'll be disappointed. What is more - the controls weren't improved and the remaster only adds some new issues in that matter. Still, Heavy Rain is one of the best interactive movies and an excellent thriller. If you don't know it, wait no further.

Heavy Rain is a game best left to your memory. It makes a good case study for seeing how cinematic adventure games have evolved over time, but it just doesn’t have the quality of newer games in the genre.

Heavy Rain Remastered doesn't go far enough in reworking its source material. It's still the definitive version of Quantic's murder mystery, but it still carries the flaws of its forefather.

Still visually striking, but poor voice acting has undone much of the gravitas it once had.

Ultimately, Heavy Rain is an experiment that both succeeded and failed, when it could easily have been a total success if the brains behind it weren’t trying so hard to be smart and cared more about providing a sensible plot as opposed to a shocking one.

This remains a ground-breaking game, and it's still possible to appreciate the areas where it innovated, but time has not been kind to the title's damp performances and dismal writing.

    Heavy Rain

Even though this is just re mastered Heavy Rain is a breath of fresh air into what games use to be story wise but also bringing a lot of new perspectives to it at the same time.

If you have never played Heavy Rain and are looking at getting it, I would highly recommend it in everyway and I will tell you why. Heavy Rains story is so immersive and intriguing in the fact that your constantly wondering what your next choice will do to the story and the overall outcome at the end of the game, this game at some points will make you stop and think what the hell am I about to do, what do I decide to do, when this game first released on PS3 it was reported to have around like 10 different possible endings, how true that is I have no idea but I personally played through the game around 4 times and got a different outcome each time. the thing I loved most about this game is the use of the motion sensitive controller and the thing that is so nice is that you use it a lot but its not to the point that its overuse which is really nice. summary Heavy Rain is like playing the Zodiac killers version of SAW and is very much a psychological thriller in every sense of the way and makes you consider each choice wondering what the effect will be. I will give this game a 8/10 the only reason that it isn't more is the fact that this is a money grab more by Sony than anything else and that is disappointing but that will not change.
