For a long time I hated people who said that GTA V was better than San Andreas.
But then I thought that San Andreas came out 20 years ago and I realized that if a game was subject to certain limitations and the next generation left those limitations behind, the result would be a game that surpasses everything known for that series.

After recently finishing the story of this masterpiece, this in my opinion, the best way to play GTA 5 (alongside the PS3 version). Masterpiece without a dout with amazing gameplay, INCREDIBLE story, and is a Platinum (not including GTA Online) that is not only grindy, but it is DEFINITELY worth your time.

By the end of it, I could say that from the writing alone I could give this game a 9. The characters were all very interesting and had great dynamics. It was really a great Hollywood movie with a lot more depth than a 2 hour movie allows.
This game taught me that GTA isn't about running over pedestrians, beating on old ladies on the sidewalk, going to strip clubs and watch subpar character models shake em, like what most "lets play" videos on Youtube led me to believe.
I barely scratched the surface of the game since I mostly did main story missions, but just from that part I thought it was a great experience.

GTA... where do I begin? Well, to make a long story short, I love this game! Perfect? No! But enjoyable, nonetheless. This game will not be for everyone (um, duh!), and if you couldn't get yourself to enjoy San Andreas or GTA IV, you probably won't enjoy this, either. But, I had a blast!

For one thing, the visuals look amazing! Although I'm not someone to bag a game over it's a visuals, I can clearly see they put a lot of time and effort into making this game look this good. The story and writing is also interesting. While the narrative can get a little a fuzzy at times, and the characters are not exactly Joel and Ellie or Lee Everett and Clementine, the tale it tells still intrigued me. If you're someone who just looks at GTA V as just a pointless Murder and Crime simulator, I beg you, look deeper into it! It's actually a VERY satirical piece about American culture with crime in it, and let me tell 'ya, I laughed my bum off playing this.

Where my issues with this game begin to start are some missions.
Sometimes, you'll get stuck on a mission because you didn't look at one obscure detail that you missed, or you'll fail one because you're supposed to be chasing someone and 50 bagillion cars will get in your way and slow you down to a boiling point. Also, I hate flying in this game.
Absolutely hate it. I've also heard Online is rather mediocre, but I haven't played that yet.

Regardless, GTA V has quickly become one of my favorite games ever made... right up there with The Last of Us, Half-Life 2, and Telltale's The Walking Dead... Season 1 (not so much Season 2).

It is so much more than just run and gun waves of cops. You can do that, but there is much more interaction with the world that can't be seen in other games. There is detail in every place you go, and on next gen it adds even more detail. This game is worth a buy at full retail price.

As if we were expecting anything more than a sheer masterpiece, Rockstar has managed to recreate 2013's Grand Theft Auto V with stunning visuals, a reinvented first person mode, and loads more to do. My only issues come from minor, minor drops in framerate in large areas, and driving in first person mode being a little stiff.

If you had this for the Xbox 360 or the PS3, don't buy it again. If you have yet to buy it, then I'd strongly urge you to do so. GTA V's tempered escapism makes for an interesting game that is definitely the best GTA game to date. GTA V may be the best value of the decade, offering up more single player and on-line activities than I would ever want to play. The immersive travel system makes these activities less fun than they could have been, and that makes the game a little less than perfect.

The PS4 version of GTA V reminds me of when I would play ports of PS1 games on PC. I played games like Metal Gear Solid, Driver, and Spider-Man on my gloriously powerful PC at the time and they all ran at resolutions and framerates that PS1 players could only imagine in their dreams. That is how well GTA V plays on PS4. The art style seems realistic but is just a little bit cartoonish with just a little to bright of a color pallet, just enough to cross over the uncanny valley and make the game easy on the eyes.

The gameplay is a fascinating exercise in easy mode. Shooting is as simply as moving in the general direction of the enemy, pulling the left trigger, letting auto-aim do the hard work for you. Driving is a little more difficult, but made easier with nearly indestructible cars. Check points are used liberally, so no more listening to 10 minutes of dialogue every time you have to retry a mission.

Although GTA V is a sandbox game, not many results can be generated with creative thinking. The only real effect you can have on the game is when the game lets you loose to drive free, toss sticky bombs, direct cars into oncoming traffic, and generally taking advantage of the a.i.

The single player game has a story to tell and this story has themes that are bigger that you might expect from a murder simulator. One character in particular, Micheal, is a middle aged bank robber going through his mid-life crisis. He is every gamer who grew up in the 80s and you will identify with him more and more as you get older. Then there is Trevor, an unrepentant serial killer who is every toxic gamer the media blames for every mass shooting.

Many games make turn the protagonist into a mass murderer even though humans are hardwired to form cooperative communities. This is why I often wonder how simulated mass murder became escapism. The creaters of GTA have always filled the game with biting satire and no satire has been so great as having the players pretend to be mass murders by controlling an actual serial killer.

As distasteful as Trevor was to keep alive for story reason, I kept playing the game becasue of Micheal, my middle aged bro. Micheal's missions are set up as if Micheal has no choice in the matter. He even tries to keep NPCs safe from Trevor. Ultimately, Micheal has to make the big score before he gets too old. The game teases you with the big score for a good 20 hours of game play, and you will not be dissappointed. We’re talking straight up playing a Fast and the Furious movie.

I did not play much of GTA V's online mode. What I can tell you is that 1) the online mode is a little stuttery and janky, 2) the online mode has lots of things, 3) RockStar makes a lot of money in micro-transactions, and 4) people are still playing GTA online in 2020. That last point should mean the most to the players. The jankiness of GTA online bothered me too much to give it another thought. I imagine that eventually I would hit up agaisnt micro-transactions, and my piddling play-time amoutning to very little when compared with what I could buy with real currency.

Ultimately, the game could have been better with a little more focus on the fundamentals, which are setting up the perfect robberies. That means no bloodbaths that would leave a lot of evidence, and maybe RockStar figures their playerbase would revolt at a more nuanced experience. They could at least provide the option.

The addition of new Vehicles,Guns and Songs also keeps you interested if you already played hours of GTA5 on PS3/360.
Grand Theft Auto Online on the other hand has been difficult and frustrating, lots of time spent in loading screens and disconnecting from friends/Jobs. Many people have been unable to even play GTA:Online and the methods of fixing the problem is well over the head of an average gamer and need to be address by Rockstar.

What are you getting? Well of course there are the enhanced visuals, the added missions and extra players in multiplayer (when it works mind you) - but there are so many little things. The cars all sound a bit different, some quite a lot so in fact... they sound a bit more real. The extra songs on all of the radio stations are a nice touch and being able to see the INSANE level of detail in first person mode is frankly worthy of buying the game.

Everything just feels in a way, how it should have, on last gen - it feels right. Nothing has changed with the story or the characters from what you would have played last gen. It is a really nice touch to be able to import your multiplayer character from any platform (I came from X360) and the added character detail really help - it showed just how freaky my character actually looked.

Really there is not a lot more to say. The negatives? Well if I had to nit pick - it is the same game just better.., and now and then the frame rate dips a tad.... oh and it annoys me that I cannot set my default car view to 3rd person and my walking to 1st.... but perhaps I have missed something.

At the end of the day - if you want a fantastic open world on new gen to lose yourself in, get this. You will not regret it.

Having not played GTA 5 on last-gen consoles, I went into the PS4 version completely fresh. I had seen a few friends play here and there, but never delved into any details of the story until now. I can definitely say I'm glad I waited.

Now, by not having played the last-gen GTA 5, I can't really compare the graphics too much. There are plenty of image and video comparisons out there.

Now, by not having played the last-gen GTA 5, I can't really compare the graphics too much. There are plenty of image and video comparisons out there. And from what I've seen, the overhaul seems quite extensive. At any rate, the game is gorgeous on PS4. There are times when I'm walking around that I find myself stopping because of how real everything looks. I can't imagine what PC modders will do with their version when it releases. I imagine near photo-realistic if not photo-realistic fidelity. Rockstar says the game is locked at 30fps but there are definitely a few hiccups. It's definitely not Unity-bad by any means, but high speed chases/racing and traffic clutter and explosions can cause a few frames to drop. Most of the time, though, it is a pretty consistent 30fps. Think Assassin's Creed: Black Flag consistency.

At first, the thought of juggling three main characters in one story seemed overwhelming. But after playing for a few hours and realizing how seamless it was to jump between them all, I'm glad they made this decision instead of going into separate DLC chapters in the vein of GTA 4. The story itself is amazing, but I wasn't surprised. Rockstar has a reputation by now, and I didn't expect it to dwindle with GTA 5. The cutscenes, voice acting, and animation are all top notch. You know you have a riveting world and story when you're telling yourself "just one more mission" before bed to see what kind of crazy event is going to happen next. I find myself doing just that, much akin to my over zealous netflix tv show binges.

The biggest pull for me, though (and I'm sure for many other people who had already played GTA 5 on last-gen consoles) is the first-person mode. When this feature was debuted, all I could think about was "Oh my god, it's basically modern day Skyrim!". And...it really is. The attention to detail on all of the animations and movement really sells it. It doesn't feel like GTA with first person. It feels like a completely different game. And I love that about it. I will say, however, that getting used to the sensitivity and controls in first-person mode requires a little patience. I suppose I'm spoiled by Destiny and Call of Duty at this point, but the aiming and movement in first-person feels floaty, and I still haven't completely nailed it down yet. Thankfully, sticky-targeting still works in this mode though. And I will probably just continue to rely on that.

You're probably wondering why I'm scoring a 9 instead of a 10, given all the praise. Well, while the single-player I feel is near flawless, the GTA Online aspect is less than so. When GTA 5 was first released on last-gen consoles, I had heard about the GTA Online woes. The glitches, the crashing, and the long load times were just a few of the things people were complaining about, and it seems they have migrated over to this version as well. I, myself, experienced three instances of complete game freezing and two instances of network or disconnection errors just the other night. It can be frustrating, especially when the load times are so long. After the last error I ended up calling it a night, mostly because I didn't want to sit at the loading screen for another 10 minutes. When it does work, however, it works well. Lag is hardly ever an issue, and there is much to do and a lot of fun to be had while doing it. Rockstar just needs to get a bit more stability in place, and GTA Online (and GTA 5 as a whole) will be perfect.

Amazing game, if you bought the previous generation version, I don't see enough reasons for you to pay full price to upgrade to the PS4 or Xbox One versions. As for PC, modding is a good reason to spend the money. I own the PS4 version, it runs and looks great, but has some Online connection hiccups, which brings it to a 9 out of 10 in my opinion.

This game is amazing, so much to do, first person mode changes the game and makes gun play missions loads of fun. scored a 9 and not 10 because the loading screens take forever, when changing a mission to freeplay on GTA Online you wait for what seems an eternity for the game to load. Once it has eventually loaded you're treated to probably the best game ever made.

I totally overlooked 4 and never thought twice about 5 on the PS3. However, all I heard about was how great GTA5 was?!?! Well, since it came with the Last of Us (which I loved on the PS3 - yet to play on the 4) in the bundle - I figured I would give it a shot - holy crap!!!! Talk about a whole lot of bang for your buck!!!

Since I have no true comparison to compare it to besides the turd burglars I had played in the past, I think I have had more FUN playing this game than most others in a long time. The replay value is just crazy - I love all the little side games. From playing golf to tennis to more of the true to story side games - this game has just about everything you could want in an adult, over-the-top video game experience!

Like I said, I didn't play GTA5 on the PS3 - so, if it's REALLY true that the graphics aren't any better than it was on the PS3, then that had to be the most amazing game EVER for the PS3 - easy. Reason being, the open world envirnment and attention to detail with a almost "existing on its own" AI world, I can't see what the complaint is about? If you already played this game on the previous console and are/were expecting something else - you are delusional. Why would you play something on the previous console and expect MORE? Also, why would you complain about how many different versions they release of it? Look at me - I never played GTA5 on the PS3 - and I freakin' think it is a blast!

The story is very amusing - definitely not a kid's game - and no, don't start coming down on it about the characters and and all of that - they are written and performed at a very high level. The heists and side games - switching from the different characters and so on is actually fun to do. Do yourself a favor if you haven't played this game yet and play it. Yeah, the controls are still CRAPPY - especially shooting while driving - but other than that it rocks!!!

The fun loving, grew up in the hood but wants more out of life kinda guy. There is Micheal. The middle aged bank robber who was relocated in the witness protection program as well as his small fortune and dysfunctional family. Then there is my personal favorite, Trevor. Trevor is your all but typical wild card. He has several screws loose but hes insanely intelligent. Its just hidden behind a red-neck, hillbilly exterior. Trevor is a DIY kinda guy with a nasty temper. These three characters allow you to see from each person's perspective. All motivated by their own desires this makes for an interesting trio. All that said, I am not sure I really like being 3 different people. I feel like you lose out on that feeling of building an "empire" like the last few GTA games. Every time I switch characters I am reminded that this is a video game. You are probably thinking "well, no sh@t its a video game." I'm just saying it constantly disconnects you through the whole switching process, quite literally I might add. Other than that any gripes I had are pretty much non-existent. It is a near perfect game. If you can think it you can do it, which makes for a pretty fun time. First person mode was also implemented and even though it has it's flaws during certain actions like getting to cover it works really well, and almost turns GTA 5 into a whole different game believe it or not. The visuals are amazing, and much better than the ps3 version (not that the PS3 version looked bad at all). Draw distances are way better. If it rains there are actual puddles that form in the street after which you can actually see reflections in the water. All in all its astonishing to look at. Most of the missions are pretty fun, some may seem repetitive at times, but they all get you closer to success. You will come across some missions that are basically heists. It gives you the ability to plan and select other criminals that specialize in certain things like hacking, driving, or combat. Everyone knows heists never go quite as planned so it can lead to some really interesting outcomes. If you are that one guy or gal that hasn't played GTA 5 yet you really should. Even if you already played it on previous consoles this "remastered" version is just different enough to warrant another play through. Expand

While the car handling is phenomenal - all cars have different handling and feel representative of the type of car, trying to drive and shoot is simply horrendous and ultimately left me resorting to ramming cars and running over people.

The biggest letdown was the first person mode. I get what it was aiming for - a realistic approach, but despite this, I felt disoriented when I attempted to play wit h it. With the type of player control you have for GTA overall, third person is much more suited and flows much better.

That's about all I can say for flaws. Everything else is wort h the time and money.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's just cut to the chase

    Pros:

The open world is probably the most open world I have seen ever in a game, ranging from large city areas to the country side to a big a** mountain you can drive a bike down and never survive.

The story is quite good. Three main characters with different abilities and different lives somehow manage to brilliantly join together and make a great story of robbing banks and drinking alcohol..

Don't care about story? No matter, the missions are still absolutely stupendous even if you don't care about the dialogue in between. They start off slow showing you the basics of the game but eventually lead into you being surrounded by N.O.O.S.E after robbing a bank.

Finishing the main story is literally only half (54%~) of what the single player has to offer. One you finish, why not go rob some convenience stores, participate in a triathlon, or go buy all of those beautiful cars that are just waiting to be driven. And smashed. Maybe blown up. Whatever floats your boat.

GTA Online provides an AMAZING Open World, MMO involving experience. Whilst at first it may be a bit hard to get into, you'll soon find yourself going around and sticky-bombing everyone in sight and blowing them up. And better yet, there are many heists you can perform in to earn thousands, even millions, in.

Don't have time to grind for cash in GTA Online? Got some real cash lying around? Why not buy some Shark Cards to get a few million instantly. While some may consider micro-transactions a downside, it isn't hard to get money without them and also helps make sure any DLC is and remains completely free.

PS4 and Xbox One versions run on a beautiful 1080p resolution.

    Cheats. 'Nuff Said.

    Cons:

Controls can feel like your a tank sometimes, though not too often.

Whenever a new GTA Online (free) DLC comes out, expect some server issues for a day or two.

If you aren't careful, some characters can be unusable in the Story Mode by the end (Not a glitch, ties in with the story). I suggest looking up how to prevent this, or keeping a save handy right before the (kind-of) final mission.

"Next-Gen" versions don't add a large amount of new stuff compared to what the "last-gen" versions have and are getting. (Don't get me wrong, the first person is awesome and all, but another $60? Hmm, maybe not). If you haven't paid for the older versions, then you're good to go. If you don't mind re-buying the game, then that's fine too. I personally bought the game because of the 1080p graphics (call me a graphics whore)

The game only runs at 30 FPS. If you aren't a "graphics whore" then this won't bother you, but some may see the difference than say, Battlefield 4 at 60 FPS and this at 30. (I think BF4 is at 60FPS... Haven't played it)

Final Thoughts: GTA V itself is amazing. Nothing comes close. While the PS4 and Xbox One versions may not add too much new content, being on the latest generation of consoles may be a safe bet in case last-gen gets unsupported. The story in the game is good if you care, but if you don't, no need to fret as the amazing missions will be enough to tie you over for the whole game. And to top it all off, you get this amazing open world with so many places to explore.

GTA Online is an amazing expansion to the game, and while you may experience and issue or two here and there, these issues are very easy to get over and you will end up having a lot of fun. And while some may consider Hard to Soft currency conversions a downside, it helps keep all of the GTA online DLC free and make sure the GTA Online community doesn't get divided by who and who doesn't have this or that DLC.

I have decided to give GTA V + GTA Online a 9/10. On paper, the cons may seem like a big deal but once you sit down and play the game all of that just washes away and you become immersed in what this amazing game has to offer.

-Disappearing vehicules... Now, this is a frustrating one. If you steal a vehicle, leave it and walk a bit to get something, most of the time, it will disappear. That left me in the middle of nowhere a lot of the times, and it is very frustrating.

-AI drivers are stupid, slow, and they don't know how to drive.

-Online play is no fun. Every one just kills each other for no reasons, there are bunch of kids yelling and saying stupid stuff with their mic, which is very annoying. Nobody is available to play in team and actually make missions or heists, unless you join a crew.

Other than that, this game is perfect!

This has got to be one of the best, if not the best video game on the PlayStation 4. However, unlike FIFA 15, you cannot play multiplayer without connecting to the Internet, which is the only problem I have with this game. Great job, Rockstar!

Now let's focus on GTA Online. It definitely didn't have the best day one launch, and all the money glitches and other stuff lasted for a few months. To be honest, GTA Online sucked so bad when it came out. But now I can say GTA Online, has become a great multiplayer aspect of this game. It has ironed out most of the bugs that it previously had, it has added many more missions and other DLC. Heists made a big impact on online as well, and I played on that for a while. It has established it's foundations, but it has more potential to be reached.
    What needs to be done:
    1. Free-mode events, was a good start, but you just need more things to do in free-mode, so constantly keep on adding more things.
    2. More missions, this needs to be done, especially ones for higher levels because I know the highest level mission is 81 and there are a lot of players higher than that, who want to earn RP faster.
    3. Add more Heists, this is an obvious one. I mean all the heists are enjoyable and I love replaying through them, 5 heists ain't enough.
    4. GTA 4 gamemodes, Cops and Crooks,Turf War,Deal Breaker,Hangman's NOOSE,Bomb Da Base II,Mafiya Work and Car Jack City
    5. GTA San Andreas, More Cheats(This is for GTA V, not online)
    6. This is pretty much like, the 2 and 3 point I gave, JUST MORE CONTENT AND PUTTING IT OUT FASTER.

Brilliant game. I've put over 400 hours into this game and still not even bored. Frequent content which is FREE. The amount of small detail in this game is incredible. The story mode is hilarious. The radio is hilarious. The entire game is a work of geniuses. Great Job Rockstar.

Uno de los mejores juegos de la decada, tremenda remasterización y el online sigue siendo igual de genial que siempre.

    Eso si, muy desbalanceado.

    Cons

Despite all the cons GTA V is a great game to play. It has a lot of things to do like steel a car or race maybe go on a rampage on the streets. The bad things about this game is that it isn't meant for all eyes. The age you have to be to buy this game is 18 but it can be seen by kids that are 13 and up that is if they can handle the violence and a Warning that this game contains violence, gang references, and drug use.
I personally love the game is has great graphics and controls. It is easy to learn how to play and you can play with your friends. You have the ability to create races, death matches, and last team standings. It has a wide variety of things to do you can always find something to do.
The last thing I have to say is the rating if I had to give one out of 5 I personally I would give it 4 out of 5.

Hello my names Remar Gordon and today I’ll be reviewing the 4 years top selling game grand theft auto 5.
First of I would be more than happy to say that this is the best grand theft so far well that’s my opinion. Rock star have added a lot of new features since the last grand theft auto which is a big improvement. They have improved there quality a lot and made a lot more things more realistic. Also Rock star have now allowed players to create their own characters online and play with friends and random people by creating online servers which can hold up to 20 players per a session. Also they have added numerous online events were you vs. rivals and friends to earn cash. Rock star have recently added a new way to earn cash by doing heists with friends or other online players to earn rp to level up and cash to buy things for your player. They recently added stunt races and new apartments for your player to live in which is almost realistic. Apart from that the campaign is great as well being able to switch between 3 characters and do different story lines wall all link to the same one eventually. But I would rate this game 9/10 it’s a great game to play with you friends and a wide range of different missions, races etc but could do with some improvement with the servers. I don’t really have anything bad to say about the game but the only thing I can say is that they need to improve their speed to connect to online servers as i said above. Apart from this a great game and I recommended people to buy it.

An excellent remake of an outstanding game that doesn't merely come with cosmetic improvements. What does it mean? You certainly need to have this piece at home, even if you have the original version. [Issue#248]
