I made this Account just so I can Make this review. This game Lacks Content, Cars, it takes 30 minutes to start a match, The game needs PS Plus, and Online to everything EVEN TO SAVE and it shuts down Everyday, and the "Campaign" Mode has over 200 boring, generic missions with the same track like 5 times thats due to to the low amount of tracks there are 16 tracks and there is no grand valley. and the campaign is only 4 hours. this game takes the cake for the worst dealership (yes a dealership) in gt6 all you had to do is select the automaker then the car and thats it but no this game you have to select the continent one by one 2 second wait time then you have to scroll down when you are trying to select the manufactuer because the made it so gaped then 4 second wait time to see 2 dealerships, museum and videos that have to connect from YT and the scapes scene I DONT CARE JUST TAKE ME TO THE DEALERSHIP. and when you click on the dealership you have to look at a scenery of the car while its moving like cant you just take me to the car and add a button to see the car in action instead like gt5 and gt6. and it has brands that arent even brands or car makers. like Lewis Hamilton thats a driver, and TAG Heuer a watchmaker. its like their trying to make it bad and you cant even go in the dealership still to this day mainly because they have videos that have to connect to Youtube which is Lazy, Dumb, and A waste of storage. the only good part about the online is the manufacturer series where you have to sign a contract with a automaker which is pretty interesting and realistic. there is a mileage exchange where you buy garbage with your second currency Mileage points yes there is a second currency for some reason all you can by is secret cars, wheels the only thing that you can customize from your car, paint for the livery editor, Helmets that look nearly the same and worst of all Poses, and DECALS. you cant even upgrade your car the livery editor has a suprising amount of detail although i with the can make it where you dont have to select a part like in Real Racing 3 but whats the point when you game is garbage and plus the game doesnt have community liveries unlike forza so good luck if you suck at making liveries like me. the handling is playable but your car feels like its riding on ice its bad when you get to the drift mode its better in racecars where they are supposed to have grip i dont mind arcade style handling but this game does it bad maybe because you character holds the wheel like their on a family trip in gt6 you character holds it like a normal person holding the wheel on the grip like a fist. and dont tell me that their going to put more content cars and tracks i dont care i shouldve been in the game since day one. and i hate how people are giving this game i high score and gaming trend went as far to call it the best game i have ever played HAVE YOU SEEN THE DEALERSHIP. 21 on eurogamers best game list and calls it the most enjoyable GT game since Gt3 HOW CAN YOU TELL ME HOW WHEN THERE IS COUNTLESS GAME WITH MORE CONTENT. the graphics are stunning not as good as driveclub but tbh GT6's trailers looked better to me. worst part is that there is no dynamic time or weather effects not a problem but it just feels lazy because gt5 and 6 had that and they were harder to make and this was "easier" to make. and plus they knew that they f***ed up because they made a dlc where they add a proper Campaign mode which is also boring maybe because i hate this game already. and adding older cars and iconic ones to and more. also tracks. like seriously who thought that partnering up with the FIA was a good idea they had to be on some class A drug. and plus they had to be under the influence of drugs because there is no was a sober person couldve looked at this and thought that it was worth releasing with the GT license and charging full price $60 FOR THIS PIECE OF SH*T that doesnt stop them from releasing a Limited edition and collectors edition. it feels more like a tech demo that a real game. and im sad for giving this game a 0 but i have to because the team at polyhony dont listen to people like gt6 was hated for its focus on online you would think that they would listen but no gave us the middle finger and just made the whole game online only. its like they forgot on how to make GT games Kaz thinks that people are more intrested on online and dont care about the cars and tracks but after this games release i hope they give us a proper GT game with all of the cars, tracks, more focus on offline, and a better soundtrack, simple, colorful menu like GT6, and they old handling from gt6 but easier to turn. yes the menu sucks they use music with lyrics which is not a problem but it doesnt fit in a gt game and opening tabs. and the race music plays the same song Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gran Turismo Sport is a great game. However, while it has fixed some of the issues in the past, it created new problems that needs to be met in the future.
Most of the cars in the game have detailed interiors, and all of them actually look great. There is no jagged lines, and there is no imports from Gran Turismo 4, which was a main issue in the past. Most of the VGT cars has no interior, but does substitute for other camera angles. There is no infuriating color chips like in GT5 & GT6, which was stupid and infuriating. Also, for once, there is no microtransactions. Like in the past, you can earn gift cars. In fact, any car in the next update or now can be your gift car, either by Driving School, Mission Challenges, or Daily Workout. For now, the new cars and tracks are imports from GT6, but also makes the car sounds better and the tracks more detailed. No car in the game fells like an exact import from the previous games. Also, to point out, Carrer mode is NOT completely dead. Even from the start, since you could complete the Mission Challenges and the Driving School. The cars sound amazing. The tracks are gorgeous and are beutifully made. Online lobbies were as good as on GT6, with a few additions to it. The new flagging system adds realism, and the penalty system, while flawed, is a great addition to the game, as in realisitc races in the lobbies, or basically the FIA Manufacturer or National Races, or even Daily races, as people who play dirty, gets their Sportsmanship Ranking dropped a notch, and a time penalty, which would be added to your final position if ou choose not to slow down. Gran Turismo Sport seems as though it is trying to improve driving skills, teacg driving skills, and try to be a great Simcade racing game. Howevr, some adjustments needs to be made in order for that dream to become true.
The car list has to be one of the issues. Sure, now it has a lot of tracks, in fact, more than Gran Turismo 4. However, that game had over 500 more cars, and it's from 2005! GT5 & 6 together had about 11 times more cars than GT Sport. Sure, Project Cars 2 may have around the same amount, however, that game is part of a new franchise, not one that is 20 years old. Yes, the developers did say they wanted to "restart" the GT franchise. Howver, just why? Maybe I'm being too critical. Remember, not every great racing game needs 1500 cars right? Also, while carrer mode is there, it does need much more effort and work placed into it. Another issue is the museum. It serves no puropse, but only to teach you history. Not only racing history, but other things such as the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Ok? Another big issue is the only online issue. If you don't have a PlayStation Plus subscription, or does not have Wifi, you are out of luck, as you cannot save the game, and is only limited to arcade mode, which is a huge issue. For the most part, the pros overpower the cons. This game gets a 8.2/10. Please buy this game IF you have Wifi, a PlayStation Plus subscription, and a PlayStation 4. I mean, everyone should know now that any Gran Turismo game is PlayStation only. Anyway, see you later, and take care!

Once again it goes to show how any random people can rate a game, without even owning it. Its ridiculous how some people here give this game a zero. Either they are ungrateful little s holes or XBOX fanbots. Either way, this game may be not perfect but still it is very impressive.

Lets start with the most obvious reason why this game gets so much hate. Yes, of all the racings sims out
Once again it goes to show how any random people can rate a game, without even owning it. Its ridiculous how some people here give this game a zero. Either they are ungrateful little s holes or XBOX fanbots. Either way, this game may be not perfect but still it is very impressive.

Lets start with the most obvious reason why this game gets so much hate. Yes, of all the racings sims out there, this game has the smallest car pool to offer. So its just fair that I'm taking a point away for this. You cant give this game a 10, cmon people, be more critical!
But lets talk about the cars. Its unquestionable that at this moment, this game has the most beautiful car models. The only competition is Forza 7 but its not as good because it lacks the ridiculous amount of little details which Gran Turismo has to offer. It has been said many times and I say it again, this game is basically car porn.

Surprisingly this game has also improved in the sound department. Gone are the times when the engines had put me into sleep. Whats coming out your speakers now, is the true sound of a roaring beast. You know what I mean when you turn up the volume and drive an SLS AMG GT3.

Now the games receives a monthly update with free cars and sometimes tracks and I have to say, those update are awesome. Not only they are free! but the cars are always awesome and each update tries to satisfy every taste. You get classic cars, street racer from Japan, high performance cars and some weird cars like the VW Samba bus or an F1 car.

Unfortenately the game has little to offer when it comes to tracks. Sure, they look extremely good but I wish it had the variety of a game like Project Cars where you can go on a nice sunday drive on the Californian highway or Azure coast.

Anyway, another very controversial topic is that you have to be online to enjoy the game. When offline, you can play the arcade mode but you wont have access to your garage where all your cars stored. Now I cant really understand the criticism here. Troughout the years gaming has changed drastically and many games require you to be online aswell as platforms like Steam or Origin. So why is the outrage now so big?

I would like to talk about the driving physics now as in my opinion, this is the part where game succeeds way ahead of the competition. I'm not a passionate driver in real life but I love driving in GT Sport. It feels very accessible yet very demanding. Cars react very comprehensible altough sometimes the oversteer is to much but you can easily compensate that by adjusting your vehicle.
As an example, Forza 7 feels great but there I have the feeling that the car is kinda stuck to the street while in GT it requires a lot of practice to master a curve.

And mastering a track is what makes this game so much fun. The attention to detail is amazing, for instance you have cones on the track giving you a clue on when to brake and when to take the turn.

I hope Polyphony Digital wont take those user reviews from kiddies into consideration. Its not the best Gran Turismo but heck, if you own a decent 4K TV whith real HDR support, then you're in for an eyegasm.

Gran Turismo brings the visceral experience of racing against other humans to your living room. The game does an incredible job of matching your skill level to that of others for close clean racing.

Mad at Sony for shutting servers down for GT6 moving to PC never to buy PS games again.

Charging for online play and not porting older games to PS4, etc is horrible. Why do I have to pay for that when I can just get free online play on PC?

Switching to PC will be refreshing and I should of listened to people back around 2009 saying PC will be a better and cheaper platform in the long run and open and free.

But why is there no real single player content? Only driving school "tutorial" missions is a bad joke. And why only 13 tracks and only 50 cars (with variations 160 cars)? No dynamic weather conditions, nor any weather conditions at all! Why? The community out cry is well deserved. Please release free DLCs to add more tracks, cars and single player content (an offline playable singleplayer campaign)!! Have a look how well Driveclub got polished after the rocky launch, it got masses of free DLCs, dynamic weather conditions, an bike addon. You can do better. At the moment GT Sport can be called "Gran Turismo 7 Prologue" due it's missing content (singleplayer, cars, tracks, fun) :(

Casual players like me might find it harder to win some races in the sports mode but I can see myself improving if I race more often because I'd then gain time faster and making less mistakes.

GT Sport consist of Arcade Mode for some offline racing against AI, Campaign Mode where you go through Driving School, Mission Challenges and Circuit experience to improve your driving. And then there is Sport mode where you race real players online in daily races and championships. Scapes mode for the camera loving people (my least used mode but you could create some stunning photos with this mode if that's your thing) also Lobby for online lobby. And that's pretty much it. This game looks to cater the online-only gamers, however it should be noted that offline mode called GT League is coming this December for all the offline players for free.

You buy cars from the Brand Central, however, you'd be rewarded with free cars if you finish the campaigns and play the game often (Because most rewards are random you could end up with double or triple of a same car). Basically if you play this game often, you won't need to buy cars (unless you really want the car that you never got as reward). Car selection is lacking if you compared it to GT6 (approx 150 cars at launch). And Track selections are limited as well. Thankfully, PD promised more cars and tracks are coming soon. For free.

You could still tune your cars but not the same as previous titles. You'll be able to change/design your car's livery, performance wise though you can't upgrade exhaust, manifold, intake, etc. You'd just trade in your Mileage points (another currency in the game besides credits) to upgrade your car's performance and weights. During sports mode the performance upgrades are irrelevant though because all cars would have fixed tune to make the race more balanced. (Gr.4 category is quite unbalanced sadly. The hot hatches are quite OP).

Graphics are stunning, the driving mechanics are fun but I'm a little disappointed that dynamic weather and day/night cycle doesn't return. I hope they will be added in future updates that would be epic.

The online racing is pretty good. You have Driver Ratings and Sportmanship Ratings. Basically if you drive like an a-hole you'd be paired with other a-holes. If you start playing you'd be paired with these aggressive drivers with low ratings. But as you get better and improve both ratings, I've seen some solid clean racing. It's not perfect though. The penalty system is pretty flawed and encourages dirty driving sometimes. Which is why I think PD should've implement damage physics. In my opinion if there is proper damage, it will deter those aggressive players screwing around other people who wants to race properly. Also they could've use the stop and go or drive thru the pits as penalties. However it's better than nothing (cough cough forza 7).

Sound is much improved. Every car doesn't sound the same (doesn't sound like vacuum cleaner anymore!) and has its own characteristics. They also sound different depending on which camera view of the car. The sounds are not exaggerated like the Forza series and not as brutal as Assetto Corsa but now you could alter with the sound volumes to your liking (increase engine sound, transmission shifts, tyres, etc). The soundtracks however, not as memorable as GT titles of the past (no famous bands, etc).

Pros of GT Sport: Excellent driving, stunning graphics, sounds are very good, sport mode is addicting, free updates! (No expansion passes, paid dlc, loot boxes), You unlock all the cars just by playing the game, you could compare time with other friends who play the game (you could even see how the fastest drivers do their lap to improve your own lap), has penalty sytem.

Cons of GT Sport: Limited tracks atm (more tracks incoming - I want Spa, Monza, Circuit deLa Sarthe, Yas Marina! ), limited cars selection atm (500+ more cars incoming in the future - I want more supercars and hypercars!), limited modes (GT League is coming soon), damage is disappointing, flawed penalty system, no day/night cycle, no dynamic weather (hopefully all this will be added/fixed in the future), tuning not as in depth such as Assetto Corsa or PCars 2, soundtracks not memorable (you could make your car's engine as your personal soundtrack though turn it all the way up!).

You may see me more cons than pros from me but this is just me a GT loyalist since the days of PS1 nitpicking. If all the cons are fixed/ updated than it would be a 10/10 title for me (except the soundtracks, it's unnecessary). If this is your first GT game you will definitely have fun with it. I'm loving this game despite the flaws.

Si se documentaron un poco antes de comprar el juego debían de saber que el foco era la competición online, por lo que el modo clásico de GT no estaría aquí. Si es así, el juego es maravilloso. Es estable, no hay lag, ni netcode, ni problemas de matchmaking!

this game is utterly frustrating but so good at the same time. as of december 2017 the penalty system is totally ridiculous. a driver can punt you off the road, you can lose 5 places and STILL get a 15 second penalty. there are far too few races per day - more tracks and more cars are an absolute necessity.

I had some seriously awesome racing hours online and was glad it didn't disappoint me there. The racing just feels good. That already makes it better than project cars where the steering is just unbearable with a controller (yes the steering wheel faction is the minority of players, get over it)

What I don't like is the penalty system. The idea makes sense but you get penalty too often for situations you don't cause and vice versa.
I also didn't liked the fixed time slots for online races and the duration of many time trials and races.
Sometimes you just want a quick match and that can easily be 15-30 minutes depending on the race.... that's hard to get used to.

If you know that this is multiplayer only and want a managable racing sim (not like project cars) I can recommend this. If you want offline racing and just some fun this is not for you.

It is needless to say that forza is still the king of racing with their main series and their arcade offspring horizons. In my opinion forza horizon is the most fun racing game series of this decade. You can't get a better one. (Mario Kart doesn't count)

Then came GT 2 to 6 and it continued on from there, but even though the car library increased to over 1k they got lazy with the detail and also that recycled 'Hoover vacuum cleaner' sound for every car engine. GT Sport may not have that many cars but the detail and individual car engine noises gives it back that sense of realism.

The only reason I dropped the score is the missing real 'Campaign' mode. The single player challenges and track mastery challenges are fun but that's not the whole GT. GT to me like in the original was to get my license, buy a cheap a$$ car for less than 10k, grind race wins and upgrade and eventually get my Toyota Supra RZ (back in the day).

The new Sport mode has a cool way of matchmaking with other races. Each online race has a real time schedule where you must prepare and use the count down timer to do some qualifier laps to get a position for the race. You're matchmaking is determined by 2 things. Driver skill, how well you do in the race. The other is sportsmanship rating, bumping and pushing cars out of the way will reduce that rating and next time will match you with other 'unsportsman like' racers.

Bit lazy so I'll state the below:

    Pros:
    - Mind blowing visuals and sound
    - Brought back the car lore in the menus
    - Calendar Real time race schedules
    - Sportmanship rankings included with Driver skill matchmaking (if you're bumper car driver, you'll be matched with other bumper car drivers)
    - Endless car decal customisations creations and sharing and you can add you're own on the GT website
    - Global and Friend Leaderboards for challenges, time trials license tests etc.

    Cons:
    - No traditional GT Campaign mode
    - No way to party up with friends apart from creating private lobbies (it'll be good to party up Sport mode)
    - Limited cars and tracks (but GT being GT, we'll expect some more cars and tracks and also a Campaign mode I hear)
    - No weather changes (a big one for me, weather is a big game changer in a long race). Loved it on Project Cars.
    - Too much emphasis on Hyper Cars for my liking.

Not a bad game, but I sort of understand the change to cater for the E sports scene, which I think it will be very good at. But this will divide the fans, hopefully we get some extra content to cater the masses.

Makes me think that other developers arent pushing the PS4 at all. The sound has surely been enhanced and for the first time sounds decent enough that its worthy of your surround sound system. The handling is on point for the most part as is the feel of speed but a few cars do feel oddly out of touch with the rest of the game.

Now i will get to what i dont like, Online online online. Yes PD has put some offline features in with patches but overall they still require a connection or none of your hard work can be saved. Nothing is worse than getting a game you cant really use if the servers go down and even if they do and you decide to play the offline stuff you still cant save it. Offline saves must become a thing and i will bump it up another point.

Its a must buy for any racing fan on PS4 but just make sure you know it relies on Sony/PD to keep it alive with the servers.

There will be 15 new cars added into the game, as well as GT League ( stands for GT Campaign ), with all kinds of singleplayer championships and modes. Now, all the cry babies can finally stop moaning about the singleplayer, because it's almost here, ladies and gentlemen.

There's also already 50 more cars planned for additions from now until March 2018, and there will be even more to come afterwards.

Guess what... it's all officially for FREE. NO PAYMENT REQUIRED. This is how it's done, thank you Sony and Polyphony.

Watch Turn 10 asking for 19.99$ or even 29.99$ on Forza for such a DLC with this amount of brand new content.

Looking forward to see way higher scores around here, because 6.0 at the time of me writing this is laughable for such a great title.

    First Edit:

10/10 to outweight the idiotic zeros.

I see some people talking about always online and the lack of in-depth singleplayer as a dramatic minus without which they can't live... you're crazy.

GT Sport is an online focused competetive racing title which actually gives you the challenge to battle against real opponents as opposed to more than often old and boring singleplayer AI. It was also advertised as such. Online play is what the games in the future will be all about besides strict RPG genre, and even that is debatable. Racing games especially should and will focus on multiplayer. You can already see the trend going towards this direction, since it's much more enjoyable for customers and easier for developers. Most people playing the games have internet these days, always online is not a problem especially when it's working fine on the server's side, and so far it has been working great in GT's case. Current singleplayer content is more than enough to satisfy multiplayer peoples needs.

Some bashing the game purely on what they expected versus what the game is supposed to be like is the definition of human idiotism, really sickens me to see such toxicity in gaming communities.

Judge it for what it is, not for what you'd like to see in the title which aims for completely different goals than what you've imagined.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    - Similar handling and physics to the best of the best driving simulators on the market, certainly up there and almost as good as Assetto Corsa from what simulator racers and wheel owners are talking about. All in all top notch, surely simulates real driving better than other racing games like Forza Motorsport and Project Cars ( Project Cars is debatable but if anything, it's at least on the same level ).

    - Best photorealistic graphics and HDR lighting in the full-on proper track racing title to date. - Confirmed and proved by Digital Foundry.

    - Best vehicle models created to date, completely remade from the ground up as opposed to the other Gran Turismo titles. Each car took 6 months to create, also part of the reason why there are only about 150 cars at launch. The other part is the developers had to set up the car classes for FIA championships first.

    - Free vehicles, modes and tracks with more than likely full quality incoming after the game's official premiere, which shapes up the car list number to 500. Confirmed by the CEO of Polyphony.

    - Realistic sounds, which are spot on. If you actually compare it to real life, it's extremely hard to tell a difference. They're not exaggerated, like in Forza where many cars sound alike and similar to the Nascar vehicle.

    - Multiple modes, from singleplayer normal races, through campaign events and challenges to official sport and multiplayer races in the lobbies made by players, thanks to which as a standard you're driving against real opponents which finally gives you something challenging on the plate.

    - Driver rating, which so far has worked extremely well in most cases ( in mine as well ), and gives you a fair chance of winning against the other people, by only adding up the players of your level of speed and fair play rating to the race.

    - Online connectivity hasn't been an issue on my end at all, besides the maintenances made by Polyphony. When servers were up, they were up and running extremely well. It shows a very good future for the game which bets on multiplayer.

    - VR support, which is just an addition to the game with 1 v 1 battles and overall a cherry at the top, but still looks amazing.

Considering how many AAA games aim for online play these days, and will keep doing so in the future, this is the best GT to date that squeezed itself into the current market very nicely.
If you're looking for a serious console racer which gives you all kinds of options, from racing itself to praising the cars or doing the best photo realistic pictures arou

A very fun simcade. Just simple as it is.

The only letdown of it for me is that it doesn't have that +1000 cars that GT always delivered, but because of it, they achieved better engine sounds, cockpits, and overall cars are just, more beautiful.

But, it's fine, GT "evolved", let's give a try and embrace it. Lack of cars and tracks are another disappointment, Interlagos and Nurburgring are great circuits, but where are Spa?Monza?

Sport mode is fun, beside most of drivers are retarded dirts bumpers plus retarded penalty system, give a real Challenge and makes you improve and make you improve entire time.

But the real issue for me come now: PSD TIMEZONE for America in FIA champ

First of all, why adopt PDT? For me, first race start 0 am, what is impossible for someone who work 8 hrs in the weekdays. But even for US PDT time is kinda retard, someone who lives in west coast, first race starts at 22 pm.

Without PDT issue, game deserved 7 but the American continent don't resume at California or PDT timezone.

So why go and and buy the game knowing full well that it does not have a single player campaign only to then moan that it doesn't have a single player campaign?

Oh and great game by the way. Solid handling and great with a wheel, great graphics. Im hooked.
Need's more tracks and cars but they are coming in dlc. Even though we only have limited tracks currently the selection of tracks is awesome. Same goes for the cars. No campaign, doesn't bother me though as I already went through all that in Gran Turismo 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 (never played 6) and really don't want to race 90 bhp Suzuki alto's against terrible ai ever again.

    1. Online Only... In order to do anything in this game apart from the awful "arcade" mode, your PS4 must be connected to the internet and then onto Polyphony's servers. Whilst I would agree that most people who own a PS4 are permanently connected to the internet anyway, there are times when one would like to take a PS4 on holiday, to a friend's house, or simply the internet might be down. Needless to say, the massive restriction placed upon the user by NOT being connected to the internet is ridiculous.
    2. 12GB update file before you can even load the game. Why even bother producing physical media if you're going to end up downloading pretty much the whole game anyway.
    3. No difficulty settings. Not everyone is a hard core online master... Games like this should make it possible for users who are less skilled to still have fun playing the game. By lowering AI difficulty in order to "win" races, people can slowly develop their skills whilst still getting a positive feeling from playing the game... to constantly have to retry a challenge just to get a win you're putting casual gamers off.

This is in stark contrast to my experience of the final revision of GT6, which was my first racing sim. GT Sport leaves the distinct impression of a job that was left to the last minute to finish, or wherein the workload was vastly underestimated. As I live in a country where a 220ms latency to GT servers is an issue, though I drive online competitions from time to time I much prefer a good career mode experience. In this respect whilst the AI competitors aren't bad, the fundamental construction of the career mode is uninspiring. Added to that a limited track- and car variety makes for a game which gets old very soon. Due to the lack of variety the daily reward for driving 42km a day more often than not results in being rewarded with the same gift car over and over again. In the absence of vehicle variety why could they not have provided a choice of either gift car or game credits for future use? The game lacks the facility to test-drive vehicles on tracks of your choice on your own time and the vehicle performance upgrades are a dismal shadow of what was available in GT6 where you had a choice of different exhaust systems, ECU's, stage 1-3 engine tuning, turbo- or super chargers, catalytic converters, to name but a few. Apparently the latter was done due to the perception that the later generation of racers are less technically inclined. I cannot disagree more as I perceive the opposite to be true! Car enthusiasm is not a sport for the technically disinclined! Though I cannot talk from first hand experience, media literature seems to suggest that GT5 & GT6 were also initially launched in highly unfinished states with significant user criticism. This seems to be true for GT Sport as well. I take note that a tremendous amount of work has gone into this game thus far, and as an engineer I truly respect that. I just hope that Polyphony responds in similar fashion to its forebears by upgrading GT Sport to be the exceptional and polished product that it clearly has the potential to be! Expand

Everything feels just so polished, just perfect. From the slick menus over the amazingly well put together soundtrack, which feels very GT but still more fresh and modern, to the spectacular graphics, even on base PS4, I think I didnt have this much fun in a racing game since over a decade. The lighting in the game is just something that needs to be seen, the level of detail on the cars has just to be admired.
While the car and track list seems on the lower side, it doesn’t bother me at all. The new campaign mode feels substantial on its own, with additionally highly customisable SP races. The new progression system constantly rewards you for racing in the game, be it upgrades, cars or money. The new excitement and variety the Sport mode adds to the game looks like it will carry the series to whole new borders. I frankly think it’s the best and most fun implementation of online in a racing game I’ve ever seen. I’m actually also quite impressed with the new AI. Cars behave very naturally and dare I say human, try to stay competitive and put on a fight at higher difficulty races.

The sound of the cars, the old step child of the series, has drastically improved. It sounds generally very convincing, differentiating between the different views, pops and crackles, great use of environmental reverb in the fascinatingly good and close to real life looking reviews. Developer Kazunori Yamauchi’s interest in artistic camera work shines here as does it in the new photo and Scapes mode, where one can put the beautifully rendered cars in stunning real photo environments, all with the correct light situation resulting in breathtaking shots, if the player is willing to dedicate some time. Same goes for the new livery editor. Gamers will lose days and weeks over those modes, I sure did already.

If you’re only remotely interested in cars, buy this game. It’s more than a game...it’s a work of art.

When it finally came around with a final release date, I preordered and started the instant I got it. I was disappointed. With the intro film, it's jaw-dropping with how beautiful the game looks and I was excited to just see the graphics. That's the big thing here. The game does look beautiful, it really blends the lines of real life and virtual. But that quickly goes away with how bare-bones the game actually is. Their carpool is minimal and just disappointing. The tracks are hidden between unlocking which just takes grinding to earn them. The game emphasizes on the idea of PvP and motorsport however that is ruined by servers which seemed to crash quite often. Nothing much to do offline. And that's the biggest problem. You need to be online to save. You need to be online and connected to do 95% of the game. That's ridiculous to me, and I feel as though it is for a lot of people. When the servers for Gran Turismo are done, this game is worthless, it loses it's value and just becomes a blank disc at that rate. To say the least, I was highly disappointed by this release. I can understand if it's for those who are into motorsport and realistic driving, but for those who wanted a racing game that looked great - no, sorry. Huge disappointment. Expand

Never raced online before in previous GTs and FMs. It's tough, I've only won one online race out of about 30 played so far, but that win was more rewarding and satisfying than winning any "campaign" race against AI.
Yes it not got hundreds of cars and a ton of tracks but what is has is enough IMO.
The gameplay is great, the races are exciting and it looks stunning.
Handling model and physics are great, even when playing with a controller.
The driving school and mission challenges are also fun and are quite extensive, you could spend many hours completing them all. To say that GT Sport lacks content is unfair when the content is does have is so well done.
So if you fancy something different than the gameplay loop of previous GT and FM games then GT Sport might be worth picking up.

First of all, I am surprised how some reviews are published on the day of release. Come on people, at least buy the game and maybe even play it before pretending you can rate it.

Having said that... after finishing all off-line content I have this to say: this is not a Gran Turismo game. This should not be named "Gran Turismo". This is a new game that focuses exclusively on online gaming.
So let's rate it for what it's worth as a new game: Graphics? Fantastic. Game play? Ok. Content? Too little. Number of cars? Too few. Number of stages? Demo game size. I mean not even Laguna Seca and you dare call this a GT game?
The summary is as follows: this is like a limited size online game with contemporary graphics and acceptable game play.
It definitely is no car simulation, and it should not be judged as one.
This is a limited product, and in my opinion should not justify a full price. However, since there is no such thing as fair price, I will not comment on this.
    Here comes the but.
BUT the reason it does cost full price is because it comes from Polyphony and is called Gran Turismo.
Therefore, it's not the price that is unfair, but the branding.
I would recommend GT6 for people who enjoy car simulations and collecting cars.
I do not recommend this game to anyone, because of its limited content.

My brother now is focusing on Forza on the 360 while i am playing GT's and Driveclub on the PS4/PS3. i decided to finally play with my brother because of the NEW GT just because he wasnt interested in the GT6. now back to the review.

This is an Online only racing game which you can not save offline but you can play offline, but you are limited to Arcade and the Default selection of cars, you can not level up, or unlock/buy new cars. how ever this isnt a problem when during the development they have said Numerous of times its going to be focusing on Esports and online, which you can tell. A plus for this is that there is no micro-transactions so you are on an even playing field because of it being Online focused.

Arcade mode is the main offline mode, with quick races, Time trials (to practice), Drift trials, Custom races which is what you use to set up your own races and 2P split-screen which the screen is split into 2 small rectangles on opposite corners with your car info underneath/above of each screen in a black box. you can only race against each other which is annoying but eh. (i dont own VR so the vr modes i cant use). The Campaign mode is split into 3 segments, Driving school which is just like the old games to help you with certain aspects, with the Mission Challenges are for getting certain times on a small temp track or getting to the front of a pack on a segment of a track, while Circuit Experiences lets you do time trials on the various sections of each track till you do a full lap with a certain time. this is fine for a online only game. Online is split into Sport and Lobby, Sport lets you compete seriously in daily races which change each 10-20 minutes and the championships which are FIA races which are locked till next month. these races have penalties that impact your rankings on who you race with. with Lobbies you create an event, and you can qualify for a pole position, race afterwards or just drive showing off your car. these are fun but if the Host leaves the lobby closes (if they choose to make the Host not change automatically when they leave)

Scapes. The Photomode that places every car you own into a 4K backdrop photo with dynamic lighting is AMAZING, the features are in depth and better than you would need. there is over 1000 Scapes with various times of day or scapes in different spots of the one place... sadly there is no Australia. The Livery Editor is great and more in-depth than you think, it works well and is easy to use, it even lets you upload real decal that you create in Illustrator (limited to 15KB). the amount of Liveries that have been created so far is amazing, and the anime Liveries look spot on. this also lets you change colours for your suit and helmet. The Mileage Exchange lets you different paint effects or wheels which you use Mileage points (unlocked from various races and achievements) the second currency other than Credits. Underneath this is Discovery which lets you search for all the uploaded scapes, liveries, decals, outfits and photos that people have created, you can comment on them, like them, follow the creator or even add it to your online library which you can apply the liveries onto your cars, or use the decals. (the offline library is all your stuff and has a shared symbol if others can see it.)

Now to the Graphics, tracks, cars and sounds. i just Hit Level 20 which unlocks the Nurgburgring Nordshcliffe and i have to say It Looks Beautiful at Sunset with the Haze, to fully appreciate the games looks go to this track. each of the tracks look great (some better than others) and are amazingly detailed from the asphalt to the grass next door. half the trees are 2D but when you are racing you wont notice it so its a pass. with the Cars there is just over 150 of them and each one looks 1:1 accurate from the colours to the minor details like the lights, even this time each car has a premium interior because everything in this game is 1000% new, nothing reused from previous titles and it shows. Now to the important part, the sounds, these are really good, from the slight crackle to the whine of the engine in the cockpit, that is not all though, each car has background noises, and when you hit bumps you can hear the car shake and rattle, i havent heard many games that do this in great detail like in GTS. GTS Is a brilliant racer

From my perspective Gran-Turismo is an automotive culture, and the best there is. That's why it deserves 9 out of 10. it would have been better if it had dynamic weather, but what's there is still impressive. Honestly it would have gotten 10 but it's missing some of the most iconic tracks from the previous Gran-Turismo series. All other racing games and simulators out there are well designed and frankly i like them all because everyone has their own flavor but there's something different about Gran-Turismo.

An absolute disappointment. The car list is incredibly boring, with only 1 or 2 models for many manufacturers, which is kind of missing the point of a GT game. The soundtrack is awful and uninspired. The online mode features a "sportsmanship ranking" which will often penalize you for things completely out of your control.

The most well polished GT game ever with the second best/most realistic gameplay and force feedback on console (second only to Assetto Corsa), and a solid base for what could very well become the overall best racing game ever made.

We'll see what happens with post launch support but as a starting point, it's a 10/10 effort from PD and the most addictive game I've played since Metal Gear

We'll see what happens with post launch support but as a starting point, it's a 10/10 effort from PD and the most addictive game I've played since Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain.

They've done so many things to fix the problems of past GT games like poor sound, poor AI, poor online racing, poor UI, unpolished graphics, poor framerate (GT6), etc. and they've literally fixed all of those. All of those factors are now fantastic in GT Sport, as well as the things GT has always been known for.

Yet now you have people whining about something else proving you can never satisfy everyone. They said this was to be an online focused GT game, and it is. People came in expecting the traditional and overdone GT career mode, and it's there but shorter and different so they whine and cry about it. News flash idiots, EXPECTATIONS HAVE NO AFFECT ON REALITY. The game is what it is, you not doing your research into what this game would be does not change the legitimate quality of the game.

So many reviews on here are straight up lying as well. IT IS NOT AN ALWAYS ONLINE GAME. These people are being completely misleading and dishonest. It is playable offline. If you have no connection to the internet at all, I wouldn't recommend it because you'd be limited to only a few cars and 3 tracks, but it is still factually not an online only title.

GT Sport boasts an excellent driving model and superb car models, but primarily it’s a paramount step towards blurring the line between electronic entertainment and sport, and on a global scale. I just hope Polyphony continues working on the game until it reaches its full potential. [13/2017, p.42]

Standard online races built on proven-by-the-years core of the Gran Turismo series. However, it suffers from an acute lack of content. In addition, if you play solo you have to avoid Sport. [Issue#280]
