After a long wait, Gran Turismo Sport is here, and it is racing perfection beyond measure. This is the best racing game that I have ever played, overflowing in beauty, grace, playability, and precision. Driving a go-kart, a fusion-engine concept race car, or a standard Ford Focus all provide a wealth of fun and unique challenges. Gran Turismo Sport is a triumph, and will be played voraciously by racing fans for years and years to come.

With servers that seem to have held up nicely and a lively community so far, Gran Turismo Sport is a well-rounded new Gran Turismo installment that should keep casual and hardcore fans happy for a while. The daily/weekly grind for vehicles, ranking and miles appear to do a good job in attracting players to revisit the game regularly, which is certainly important for a social gaming experience such as Gran Turismo Sport.

Instead of getting bogged down in car numbers and career modes, Gran Turismo Sport focuses purely on the racing; creating one of the best racers of this generation.

Gran Turismo Sport is a game that is both very good on the track and incredibly important for the future of the genre and the eSports fascination at large. While I would still love to see a return to a traditional game in the form of Gran Turismo 7, Sport is in a league of its own and makes going back to games even outside its genre, like competitive shooters, that much more difficult because of how forward thinking it’s online suite is. The focus on sport and competition is the game’s most impressive asset, putting it in the category of the greats that came before it.

Gran Turismo Sport marks a new era for the series and its online system is now a benchmark for the racing genre. It looks great, it feels great and it provided us with some of the most intense and “clean” racing experiences of our lives.

If you are looking for a game where you can run without complications and not repeat a single circuit, it may not be the best option, but if you are looking for a driving simulator, where you dedicate yourself to a car model and make it an extension of your body to beat hundredth to hundredth the time and be one of the best online, no doubt GT Sport will give you what you are looking for.

Gran Turismo comes to PlayStation 4 clearly focused on the online content and on the eSports, forgetting too much about the single player mode. Polyphony Digital has decided to bring something new to the saga thanks to better gameplay mechanics and realism.

This is like iRacing for PS4. I rarely had that much fun and tense position battles within competitive online racing on a console. The driving physics are great and the fairness system executed nicely. Unfortunately it falls a little short on the content side as well as for soloists.

GT Sport boasts an excellent driving model and superb car models, but primarily it’s a paramount step towards blurring the line between electronic entertainment and sport, and on a global scale. I just hope Polyphony continues working on the game until it reaches its full potential. [13/2017, p.42]

Ultimately, where you fall on GT Sport will mirror how you feel about racing games in general. If you’re looking for a highly focused console racing sim, GT Sport is excellent, but don’t come looking for a robust "Gran Turismo" experience. You won’t find it. Casual fans will feel the pinch of the scaled-down offering and the intimidating push towards racing online. But for sim-racers with a competitive spirit, it’s easy to look past the smaller car and track roster and appreciate the incredibly detailed and responsive driving model, which is better than anything the series has offered before.

Compared to past games in the series, Gran Turismo Sport is an admittedly trimmed-down experience. There are fewer cars and features with no trips to the moon. However, it’s also true that much of what was lost really needed to be cut. GT Sport makes the most of its new focus on competition and it does an admirable job of training you to be a better driver. It can be intimidating to head online for the first time, but once you finish a race in a respectable position, it feels like all the time you’ve invested has truly paid off.

Gran Turismo Sport takes a different path from the series but despite some issues and glitches along the way, it’s still one of the most important games in the Racing genre. With some more features and a complete single player mode, GT Sport could have easily competed with others, but it still provides a wonderful online experience for those who are looking for exciting races.

Gran Turismo Sport is a joy for every fan of the genre. While the game lacks some real offline content, the online racing is a blast and the rating system helps balance the difficulty for all players. Also, the game looks amazing in every aspect.

Gran Turismo Sports places all its bets in the online component that encourages you to compete in the best way possible, mainly due to its leaderboards based on driving skills and fair play. However, in almost every other aspect, is a game closer to a Prologue version than a numbered one, and lacks content when you compare it even with Gran Turismo 6.

Gran Turismo Sport aims to become the leader of the racing e-sports games. Without a classic career mode and with a calendar of online competitions that will offer a lot of races throughout the next months, this chapter may disappoint the fans of the series. Also, the starting contents are poor and are comparable to the GT Prologue titles.

With its excellent focus on online multiplayer supported with some innovative fair-play features and related social features, Gran Turismo Sport is a great choice for drivers focused on those aspects. For offline players and those that don't want to grind to gain access to an extensive collection of cars and tracks, though, there are better alternatives.

Gran Turismo Sport breaks from the standard of the series and focuses on online races and eSports, but in the process loses some content. Technically speaking, the game is a real masterpiece and pushes the PS4 hardware to its limits, though dynamic weather is not present. Even if the physics model is upgraded from GT6, there are still old problems, but driving is still very fun with a good driving wheel.

The online career and Sport mode may signify a new direction for the series, but shows promise. With time, no doubt GT Sport will evolve with new modes, vehicles, tracks, and even additional weather effects. And when the day comes that we can witness all the wonderful detail and beauty of Polyphony Digital’s creation, via watching a replay of a crash-free online race set at night along the rain-soaked roads of Tokyo, this could become something truly special.

GT Sport isn't the sequel we were hoping for and it even dropped the ball a few times in places they really should've improved upon, but you can still really feel the developer's love for the racing sport. The game also looks incredible and the online mode is amazing.

With impressive graphics, excellent controls and a well-developed online mode, Gran Turismo Sport could have been the best racing game of the year. Unfortunately, the lack of cars and courses and a half-baked single-player mode results in a game that does not reach its full potential. The foundation is great though, and if Polyphony Digital continue to add content at a steady pace Gran Turismo Sport might just grab the gold in the end.
  31. 80
GT Sport's shift away from the normal structure of racing titles was a risky bet. It pays off for racing purists, but those who judge a game solely by the number of tracks, cars, and modes it has may be a little disappointed.

Through its celebration of both the art and intricacies of driving and the cars that make it such a joy, GT Sport is a stunningly classy racing experience. It handles wonderfully and does all it can to make you a better driver through its campaign’s structure. If you’re looking for a more traditional Gran Turismo experience, however, one that is solely single-player focused, GT Sport may feel more like another prologue experience than the winning entry you’ve been waiting for.

Gran Turismo Sport is a near essential purchase for PlayStation 4 racing fans. There might be a few disappointments in some of the limitations and regressions, but the brilliance of the game is in the small details that combine to enable willing players to become better drivers and racers and the implementation of multiplayer. Underneath it all, this is still a very familiar feeling Gran Turismo racing game, but it’s also one that’s set to grow and evolve over time and looks set to herald a new era of competitive online racing.

GT Sport is a game players who enjoy playing online are going to love. Those who like playing alone... not so much. It's online focus is clear, and although that's understandable, the lack of content will end up being a problem for any type of player. Although it has a few shortcomings, it's a great racing game with many virtues.

It's a bit of a shame, then, that GT Sport feels more like one of the old Prologue releases than a full-on entry in the series. Like I said at the top of this review, the game is fabulous, but there's just not quite enough of it. I'm sure that Polyphony Digital will add new cars, tracks, and events going forward, and it'll be interesting to see how Sport Mode evolves over time, but the bottom line is that right now, GT Sport feels more like an appetizer than a main course. It's exquisitely-crafted and phenomenally tasty, but leaves you wanting more.

If you're looking for a beefy single-player experience, you'll have to look elsewhere. Outside of Arcade mode, you can learn how to drive well and get in a good challenge while doing so, but GTS pales in comparison to the campaigns of versions past with respect to long-term, single-player engagement. If your focus is on multiplayer, then GTS is just right for you. You'll have to learn how to drive like a professional and not hit things, but the game provides you with all the necessary tools to achieve that.

In its need to please as large demographic as possible, GT Sport is unmistakably deep but oddly sparse compared to its illustrious predecessors. The game feels more like a prologue to the inevitable Gran Turismo 7, hopefully including everything that was left out here. To best summarize the experience that is Gran Turismo Sport is as if Ferrari made a sport model of Ferrari 458. It would be stripped of the passenger seat, electronics and comforts like radio, heated seat and power windows, and the suspension would be harder too. It still would be Ferrari, beautiful to look at and beast to drive, but you’d wish it had more to it.

Gran Turismo Sport is a bona fide virtual motorsport and that’s awesome. But single-player modes are lacking and it’s demonstrably outshone by Forza Motorsport 7 in virtually every area.

Gran Turismo Sport is a great game that takes a sharp turn in a direction completely different from the one that the series has always aimed at. The problem with this title is that it sits in a totally new gray area on consoles, and could therefore run the risk of not satisfying all players, and in fact let the long-time fans down.

The Gran Turismo franchise makes its comeback almost four years after its latest entrance with a different attempt for the driving simulator games: VR and an online, esports' focus for the masses. Despite being a great attempt, it just doesn't feel cohesive or complete as any other of its own past games.
  42. Oct 20, 2017
    78
Regardless of its foibles, let this installment be the start of a real commitment by Polyphony Digital to online racing – one that is folded into the main series' career mode and which is not just a temporary dabble like the track creator of GT 5 or the dynamic time/weather and race clubs of GT 6. GT Sport has enough qualities that it should be the start of something better and not just a detour for the franchise.

GT Sport offers little for singleplayer as far as playtime and scope are concerned, but thanks to great driving physics and a good online mode it's still a recommended game.
  44. Gran Turismo Sport is one of the best racing games of the genre, but it's not best, it could be best, but no. Without GT mod and less then 500 cars, it's not even a Gran Turismo for us.

After lingering way too long in development, GT Sport came out amongst competitors that spent previous years on constant self-improvement, iteration by iteration. Forza Motorsport 7, for example, is bigger and better in almost every regard. That doesn’t mean that GT Sport won’t find its share of fans, but it definitely lost a lot of luster. [Issue#225, p.46]

Gran Turismo Sport is a pretty complicated affair: a mediocre single player experience, an exhilarating multiplayer title, the last work from Polyphony Digital is the greatest testament to a democratic vision of motorsport, where driving is really for everyone. A temple where players can share and contemplate truly stunning and beautiful images of cars, and drivers can look for the aesthetic perfection of driving. In the middle, a driving model with the same old limits of the previous chapters, and an overall anachronistic feeling.

Trying to drive from solitary waypoint to waypoint proved a massive challenge; I must say, I prefer a straight-up racing line on the roadway, showing me what I should be doing. For those who don’t need that, there’s not much difference between each console’s powerhouse.

If you're a car nut, you'll definitely like this. The cars look and sound exactly the way you expect them too, sometimes even better. The online modes are a joy to play. However, a severe lack of content, some strange design choices and the fact that there's hardly any damage models at all keep Gran Turismo Sport from reaching the lofty heights it aims at.

We finally got a Gran Turismo on PlayStation 4, but looks like Polyphony Digital is performing an experiment with the franchise. They bring to the table a great simulation engine, with graphics not as great as anybody would expect and most of the racing experience beyond an online gate. Not as good as it sounds.
  51. Oct 23, 2017
    75
Gran Turismo Sport is a turning point in Polyphony Digital's philosophy of online racing. A reset, which looks seriously at competition and eSports, sacrificing offline content, cars, circuits and weather condition along the way. At the wheel, the result is astounding, but while its multiplayer character can bring in new players, the numbers can set many others back.
  52. Oct 20, 2017

Gran Turismo Sport fails to make our heart beat with a lack of content, and not many real existing cars or tracks, which feels odd for "The real driving simulator". The Fair-Play system isn't yet working properly, but hopefully it will before the start of the eSport season. At least players can still enjoy a nice physics model and an enjoyable feel to the drive.

In many ways, GT Sport is the most polished Gran Turismo game in over a decade. It looks great, feels great, and what’s here has been carefully and well executed. However, while I can forgive the sprinkling of eccentric nonsense, the lack of car and track content really hurts, and the online-only nature of the vast majority of it is worrying. Overall it just isn’t as complete as its key competitors.
  54. 75
Gran Turismo Sport mixes things up with its online scene and always-online front, but the heart of the game is still here ever-present as one would expect of such a beloved franchise. Not every issue is major. In fact, most may never bother most. I quite loved the motion control changes Polyphony brings this time around, adding an extra bit of heart to a game already filled with it. However, like any heart, there’s some bad that cannot be forgotten, even if the greatest parts shine so brightly.

While it handles and looks well, with an Arcade mode and online elements that are rather solid, the Campaign isn’t fulfilling and too much gets locked away the second online connectivity has been taken away. There are too few cars and tracks here, something that will hopefully be remedied with both free and paid updates. If it gets the proper support, it could end up being a respectable entry in the series. At the moment, Gran Turismo Sport feels like a precursor to greater things.

GTS lacks overall depth, but it is saved from being a complete failure by its stellar visuals, fun and realistic driving experience. I know how much work goes into producing a major-budget title like GTS, so I would never use the word lazy when describing the effort of the development team...However, this game comes off as an underdeveloped title that is being made to look more legitimate by the history of the series.

Four years have passed since the last GT game in the franchise, and although this game stayed true to its roots and remains a true driving simulation, choices like reducing number of available vehicles, missing any kind of single player campaign (other than driving schools) and a lack of weather effect control in this day and age may have set this game to a bad start against its main competitors.

The delicate and skilled operation of a high performance vehicle projects Gran Turismo Sport's utopian vision. Its factitious structure and inattentive principles remind the player that it operates in an unstable reality. Gran Turismo Sport lives in a world of sportsmanship and prestige and doesn't much care if would-be residents find its narrow paradise aloof and inhospitable.

Gran Turismo Sport represents a sharp change in direction for a beloved brand – and only time will tell whether that move proves shrewd. The game sets a new standard for online simulation racing on consoles, and for that it must be praised, but in its efforts to educate it’s shed the series’ revered single player structure – and almost certainly a fair few fans along the way.

Gran Turismo Sport is a good game, and yet, it’s still a disappointment. Given this series’ pedigree, good simply isn’t good enough. GT Sport still brings it on the track, but its lack of content can’t be ignored, and you can’t give the game top marks in world where Forza Motorsport 7 and Project CARS 2 exist. If you’re a diehard fan of Sony’s series or really into online racing, GT Sport is worth a shot. If you just want the best racing sim out there, you may want to kick some more tires.

Buy it if you want a competitive racer that’s willing to hold your hand while you take your time honing your skills. Don’t buy it if you’re more into building massive collections of your favorite cars, or if you only ever playing by yourself. If that’s your preferred style, grab Forza 7 instead.
  65. 70
One’s enjoyment of Gran Turismo Sport will solely be determined by whether the prospect of learning different tracks and competing in three different online races per day is exciting to them. If you can’t get into that gameplay loop then you’ll want to play something else, as the single-player content is extremely limited, and even the online offerings aren’t rich with features. GT Sport does a few things exceptionally well (you won’t find a better looking and playing racing game), but it ultimately left me wanting more content out of it.
  66. Oct 17, 2017

Gran Turismo Sport is worthy of the name and a great driving simulator, but a lack of content compared to what the series usually offers makes it a curious beast. If you love Polyphony Digital’s approach and cars, however, it will still tick a lot of your desired boxes.

Gran Turismo Sport debuts on the PS4 without a number in its name, signaling a shift for this long running car racing franchise. While the simulation is still very good, and the presentation is top notch, the lack of content in both single player and online modes will leave most participants unsatisfied. With a full asking price and always-online design, all but the most hardcore fans should approach with caution.
  68. Nov 17, 2017
    65
Gran Turismo Sport is the beginning of a new era for the titular PlayStation racing franchise, but some aspects should have been tuned further if they wanted to remain competitive. Unnecessarily convoluted game modes, a pointless photo mode, always-online connectivity, and terrible rosters of tracks and cars bog down an otherwise fun and immersive driving experience. Although this is easily one of the best feeling and best sounding racing games on PlayStation 4, other racing games are just more fun. And as a long-time fan of this series, that is the most heartbreaking of all.
  69. Nov 16, 2017

The real problem will be the expectations that millions of Gran Turismo fans bring. The vast majority who are going to buy this game aren’t the kind who’ll be reading this cautionary review, nor any other gaming publication for that matter. I imagine there’ll be a great deal of people strolling through a Wal-Mart, they’ll see a new Gran Turismo on the shelf, take it home, and then be completely dumbfounded by this barebones, obtuse, restrictive package. Those people are going to be profoundly disappointed by Sport, and I’m guessing so will most of the others who buy it thanks to the level of commitment necessary to get the most out of it. The people who go all-in will adore it, but the rest will be left in the dust.

Gran Turismo Sport returns the Gran Turismo series to the Playstation 4, with fantastic graphics that push the boundaries for realistic driving simulation. However, this game feels thinner than its predecessors, with less of a focus on solo driving and campaign simulation. The gameplay is crisp and smooth, the menus are well built for the most part, but the lack of a polished campaign mode like what was found in prior releases reduces overall enjoyment for the player who isn’t intent on playing online in the official races each day.

The game has a razor-sharp focus on what it wants to deliver, but does so at the cost of diversity and content. I suppose quality should always be more important, but for $60, you’d figure GT Sport would at least be comparable to past entries in the series. In many ways, Gran Turismo Sport feels like a tech demo. Visually, it pushes the bar, with car models that are as good the real thing and environments better than ever before. And the lighting; holy hell, the lighting. It is glorious. In terms of content though, it’s lacking.

Gran Turismo Sport might not be the world’s most accurate driving simulation, but it’s fun—a lot of fun, particularly with a steering wheel. And refreshingly, it doesn't try to make you open your wallet to unlock anything.

This is possibly the most focused, directly enjoyable game Polyphony Digital has put out since the heady days of Gran Turismo 3. Racing improves the breed, industrialist Soichiro Honda once said, and Gran Turismo Sport is proof positive of that. [Recommended]
  3. Despite the lengthy delays it’s suffered, Gran Turismo Sport feels as if it’s been rushed to market. But, it at least feels like it’s a solid base from which to build.

    THIS IS SPORT
Granturismo sport aims to reinvent the franchise, gone are is the classic career mode, in its wake is the much-anticipated sports mode. Gran Turismo brings the visceral experience of racing against other humans to your living room. The game does an incredible job of matching your skill level to that of others for close clean racing. No other racing game I have played is as enjoyable or satisfying online as GT sport . The car roster while small is diverse, all cars are balanced to race against other cars in their respective fields ! . The single player missions are fun, No need to grind as XP and mileage points are handed out generously

Pros - Best online racing PERIOD
    - Best looking racing game on the PS4
    - amazing livery editor
    - Sleek, snappy presentation
    - great sounds
    - Solid 60fps
    - Great physics

    cons
    - Small, yet fun career mode
    - Small car roster compared to previous GT games
    - Tracks are lacking
    - a radical departure from the past games, but a needed one
9.0/10 ( 10 to outweigh the BS zeros)

    Second Edit:

The first DLC for GT Sport has been just announced.

There will be 15 new cars added into the game, as well as GT League ( stands for GT Campaign ), with all kinds of singleplayer championships and modes. Now, all the cry babies can finally stop moaning about the singleplayer, because it's almost here, ladies and gentlemen.

There's also already 50 more cars planned for additions from now until March 2018, and there will be even more to come afterwards.

Guess what... it's all officially for FREE. NO PAYMENT REQUIRED. This is how it's done, thank you Sony and Polyphony.

Watch Turn 10 asking for 19.99$ or even 29.99$ on Forza for such a DLC with this amount of brand new content.

Looking forward to see way higher scores around here, because 6.0 at the time of me writing this is laughable for such a great title.

    First Edit:

10/10 to outweight the idiotic zeros.

I see some people talking about always online and the lack of in-depth singleplayer as a dramatic minus without which they can't live... you're crazy.

GT Sport is an online focused competetive racing title which actually gives you the challenge to battle against real opponents as opposed to more than often old and boring singleplayer AI. It was also advertised as such. Online play is what the games in the future will be all about besides strict RPG genre, and even that is debatable. Racing games especially should and will focus on multiplayer. You can already see the trend going towards this direction, since it's much more enjoyable for customers and easier for developers. Most people playing the games have internet these days, always online is not a problem especially when it's working fine on the server's side, and so far it has been working great in GT's case. Current singleplayer content is more than enough to satisfy multiplayer peoples needs.

Some bashing the game purely on what they expected versus what the game is supposed to be like is the definition of human idiotism, really sickens me to see such toxicity in gaming communities.

Judge it for what it is, not for what you'd like to see in the title which aims for completely different goals than what you've imagined.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    - Similar handling and physics to the best of the best driving simulators on the market, certainly up there and almost as good as Assetto Corsa from what simulator racers and wheel owners are talking about. All in all top notch, surely simulates real driving better than other racing games like Forza Motorsport and Project Cars ( Project Cars is debatable but if anything, it's at least on the same level ).

    - Best photorealistic graphics and HDR lighting in the full-on proper track racing title to date. - Confirmed and proved by Digital Foundry.

    - Best vehicle models created to date, completely remade from the ground up as opposed to the other Gran Turismo titles. Each car took 6 months to create, also part of the reason why there are only about 150 cars at launch. The other part is the developers had to set up the car classes for FIA championships first.

    - Free vehicles, modes and tracks with more than likely full quality incoming after the game's official premiere, which shapes up the car list number to 500. Confirmed by the CEO of Polyphony.

    - Realistic sounds, which are spot on. If you actually compare it to real life, it's extremely hard to tell a difference. They're not exaggerated, like in Forza where many cars sound alike and similar to the Nascar vehicle.

    - Multiple modes, from singleplayer normal races, through campaign events and challenges to official sport and multiplayer races in the lobbies made by players, thanks to which as a standard you're driving against real opponents which finally gives you something challenging on the plate.

    - Driver rating, which so far has worked extremely well in most cases ( in mine as well ), and gives you a fair chance of winning against the other people, by only adding up the players of your level of speed and fair play rating to the race.

    - Online connectivity hasn't been an issue on my end at all, besides the maintenances made by Polyphony. When servers were up, they were up and running extremely well. It shows a very good future for the game which bets on multiplayer.

    - VR support, which is just an addition to the game with 1 v 1 battles and overall a cherry at the top, but still looks amazing.

Considering how many AAA games aim for online play these days, and will keep doing so in the future, this is the best GT to date that squeezed itself into the current market very nicely.
If you're looking for a serious console racer which gives you all kinds of options, from racing itself to praising the cars or doing the best photo realistic pictures arou
