That parade of cathartic moments still makes God of War 3 worth playing, especially given the vividness and eye-popping destruction woven into every major battle

A really good game with great gameplay but a mediocre plot. Nonetheless it is filled with iconic cutscenes. Definitely worth a playthrough.

This game is exactly what you would expect. God of War III. The 60fps is smooth to watch and with the gameplay God of War feels great. But the graphics, while nice to look at sometimes, just aren't that big a deal. $40 for this? No thanks. I'll just leave God of War on my PS3 where it should have stayed.

Eu sinceramente,não vejo o porque de God of War ser tão popular, sua saga é basicamente um careca raivoso matando deuses do Olimpo.
Eu não consigo aceitar a fraqueza destes deuses, onde deveriam ser onipotentes.

God of War 3: Remastered is a needless upgrade of an already phenomenal experience. Beyond marginal visual improvements, there are no new features added to the original game. Anybody who has previously enjoyed God of War 3 should not purchase this version. The lack of bonus content will be a disappointment to all but first-time players.

Leveraging the power of the PlayStation 4, God of War 3: Remastered renders at a native 1080p resolution and displays at 60 frames per second. A somewhat stronger form of antialiasing is also implemented to reduce the appearance of jagged edges on game models. No assets are conspicuously retextured, which is a shame because the doubled pixel count highlights bits of poorly aged geometry. Thankfully, God of War doesn’t perform any worse than its PlayStation 3 predecessor, avoiding the pitfalls of other contemporary remasters.

The actual gameplay and narrative still perfectly capture the scale of a Greek myth. Boss encounters are always a series of diamond polished combat sections mixed with spectacularly climatic executions. Puzzles range in scope from clever brain-teasers in isolated spaces to Herculean trials that dynamically alter entire levels in astonishing ways. Cutscenes combine impeccable choreography with engrossing melodramatic acting to achieve satisfying emotional resonance. In every regard, God of War 3 realizes its potential as a finale to a genuinely epic revenge tale.

It is baffling that such a landmark title didn’t include bonus content on a subsequent release, but that merely detracts from the material value of the product. The core content is untouched, and it remains uniquely entertaining. This release is the ideal choice for newcomers with the latest PlayStation hardware, yet existing God of War 3 owners can safely ignore it.

I just played it to get a head start for the new GoW game, and while it was fun, that fun was kind of mindless. The almost cartoon-like repetitive brutality doesn't cut it for me, and the graphics didn't age well, not even with the remaster.

This game was the first game I played in the series and it was the very first game I bought when I got my PS4. The expectations were high since I'd heard so many positive remarks about it. To be honest, it wasn't the perfect game everyone was praising it to be. I played through it a second time just to see if I'd changed my mind but no the problem remains. The combat gets repetitive and stale after a few hours of playing. The Character of Kratos doesn't make for a compelling character. He is always angry and constantly yelling at people. It may sound cool for a few minutes but it doesn't make his character any likable. There was too much unnecessary violence. I felt that the game was violent for the sake of being violent. There were scenes when you rip someone's head off or cut off another one's legs or throw a girl into a crank and she gets reduced to a pool of blood. It's like the developers said: you wanted violence? well, here you go!
So to summarize: The combat gets repetitive, the main character is always angry and yelling, and players can't sympathize with him, the game is just too violent for no reason.
    Overall a mediocre experience

Played this to get ready for ragnarok, I play almost all my games on hard mode. It might only haven't aged well but man it's painful to play even on normal difficulty. The game wants you to rely on blocks and parries but the enemies animations are so bad it's really hard to get the good timing. I stopped playing after beating the second boss. :(

Хороший средний слешер. Сюжет как-то невнятно подается, временами возникает "не верю".. и к концу я уже забыл зачем ГГ всех убивает. Иногда раздражающие моменты в боях. Но битвы красивые.

Why I did not finish the game

I just don't like it, the story is a bad revenge story. The combat just doesn't do it for me and the games main schtick is extreme violence which does nothing for me.

Amount of Time Put Into The Game

I played this game for a few hours and it never hooked me in. This original trilogy is not for me.

    Try Again Later?

No, I believe in second chances, I gave this game a second chance and the answer is no. It's not for me.

I'm finally caught up with all of the God of War games! Having said that, this one isn't the best GOW (GOW4) or the worst (GOW2), but it sits kind of in the middle.

The story isn't what I thought it would be. Kratos systematically eliminating the heavy hitters of the Greek pantheon seemed really cool and I liked the art design of each of the gods, but some of the battles seemed really cheap-including one boss that is basically a 2D fighting game. And jeez is it brutal! It really does not make Kratos a compelling character to have him pound someone's face to hamburger or slowly rip their head off.

Speaking of compelling, the voice actor for Kratos isn't very good-especially compared to the fact that they have some really impressive actors cast as side characters. Kratos just seems to grunt his way through each conversation.

The combat was decent. By the end of it I was mostly button mashing and they do throw an annoying amount of enemies at you.

Overall, I'm glad that I played it, the game just didn't stand out to me like some of the other entries in the series.

I didn't even have time to realize where my character is located and trying to at least touch the enemy by hitting square frantically, I didn't even have time to watch HUD and enjoy the game in the end. The quick-time events are thoughtlessly sudden and provide very little time to react to. Controls layout is nonsensical yet disallowing to alter.
The dialogues I heard so far are naive and laughable.
The only positive I noticed until my nerves burst out and made me hit "Delete game" (twice! By the way. I gave the game second chance) were the graphics, level design and visualization of the ancient greek myths (of course violated to the bone).

Before we start this review let me make this clear, God Of War 3 Remastered is NOT a remaster.
It is a port, and to be perfectly honest, a pretty bad one at that.

The plastic textures are not redone, the AI is left precisely as stupid as it used to be and the gameplay has not received a single much needed tweak.

    Performance:
God Of War 3 runs at 1080p 60fps... at least that is what we are told. The "60fps" does not dip, so much as it plummets into the 30s and low 40s and remains there for almost the entire game. Jarring screen tear ruins any possible gain of the resolution bump purely from the disjointed picture that is displayed on screen thanks to these horrific tears.

    Gameplay:
The gameplay, which I can only assume is supposed to be violent is ruined by the goofy, cartoonish animations and controls, levels are repeated over and over again until you lose any challenge and just rely on the muscle memory as each mission is layed out exactly as it was before.

    Story:
There simply is not any story here, Kratos must stop a god and- blah-blah-blah
the exact same story as GOW 1 and 2.
I'll put it like this, there is only so many times you can read a book, there is only so many times you can play a God of War title.

Do yourself a favor, don't buy this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I bought a PS4 and i was tallking with my brother what should i buy for it. And i said, damn if GOW3 was on PS4 i would buy it instantly. After dinner that day, i went on my PC and found out that GOW3 is getting a PS4 remaster. Coincidence? I don't think so.Being a PS3 game at the end of the day, the remastered graphics may not be up to current PS4 standards, but they're still very good. Definitely acceptable. Graphics aren't the reason I like this game though. The gameplay is amazing, and fun. Boss fights are epic and even the general fighting is solid.
The puzzles could've been harder but the scenery/locations are pretty cool.
    It's a must play

A zero-hassle remaster of a great action hack 'n' slash. The combat system is still great, even if inferior to that of some Japanese games of the same genre, and the graphics have aged extraordinarily well. Still, as we said, a lot more could have been done in this remaster.

The fact that the Photo Mode is one of the emphasized features tells everything about how necessary this remaster was and how much effort was put into it. Yes, the textures are sharper, the lighting is better, but the difference is not breathtaking, because the game was already stunningly beautiful before. It’s not how I imagined Kratos’ assault on PS4. So why such a high score? Five years later it’s still an exceptional game and I envy everyone who is to experience this grand adventure for the first time. [09/2015, p.43]
