The more I played this game, the more I appreciated it because of the fact that I started off with the psp for the first God Eater and I’ve enjoyed the growth of this particular franchise for the most part. The game has a good story, the graphics have improved, the gameplay have been added a few things. Compared to 2, the mobility became more detailed, giving the impression of being slower, which is easy to get used to. The game looks great, but it's a small niche that likes to repeat quests and farm.

It's a good start for an initial release, but for it to truly be great it needs additional polish and an endgame. The story and side missions all together will net you around 40-ish hours. The story and side missions all together will net you around 40-ish hours. It's a much faster game then Monster Hunter World so hunts only last between 5 to 10 minutes. Where in monster hunter you need to run across massive zones the zones in GE3 are pretty closed off and it won't take a long time to engage an Aragami and it won't be able to run too far away from you. Mind you, the weapon customization system lets you customize your weapon, shield, and gun to fit your personal playstyle. Whether you prefer a more up close combat style or a long range style, you can expend Abandoned God Arcs, the game's Gem system to add abilities to your arsenal to power them up. And the bullet editor is back which let's those who prefer playing support or dealing damage from afar to completely design their own bullets albeit it's not as broken from the looks of it to its GE2RB counterpart. There's also the Engage system, Acceleration Triggers, and Control Modules that all act as personal playstyle modifiers. There's a lot LOT of tools, but no big baddies at the end to use these on. Weapons stop at Rank 7 but you're not fighting anything like tempered Aragami or anything. Patch 1.20 is supposed to add fixes and polish to the game that it desperately needs for some things. It's good that the developers are listening to feedback and adjusting the game accordingly which gives me hope for the future of the game. Right now it's 'good' but it's living in GE2RB's shadow. In about 1 to 2 years time from release, it needs to add another arc or two to add another 60 to 80 story missions, about 30-40 more aragami even just reskins, and needs to add a lot more Hard Mode missions. 1.20 scheduled in early spring for JP is said to include "Certification Missions" which I'm hoping equates to a Hard Mode, and 1.30 will be adding the first story-based DLC. The game needs more variants and new monsters it needs to go up to at least rank 15 during its lifespan to match GE2RB.

A damn good sequel to an already awesome series. It's far more polished than it's predecessor and improved a lot of things.

This is a really fun game with interesting story and characters and a cool battle system! My only complaint is that the characters lack real emotional development when you consider the hardships they've faced. I find it strange they've been tortured and imprisoned since they were children but none of them show any kind of trauma.

Undoubtedly, the best of the trilogy. The new world, aragamis and characters are all great, mechanics improved a lot, making combat so much fluid and better than previous titles. Ending is also great, unlike the 2nd title...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best God Eater game in the series, no joke. New mechanics like the Engage System, Accel Trigger and the Dive is a fast way to traverse the map, though in typical God Eater fashion the maps get repetitive and you memorize on where to go without even looking at the map after a few missions with the same map. New weapons such as the Biting Edge and Heavy Moon, the characters I connected almost instantly I love every single one of them except for the Doctor who took Phym away from me, how dare he take away my baby! I enjoyed it a lot and you guys should play it too. Expand

Great monster hunter style game. The combat is fast paced and the story is good. A lot of the ost is remixes from previous games. Combat compared to 2 is a bit janky. New Monster designs are great but there isn't that much variety in total.

Fans will certainly appreciate God Eater 3 as a solid continuation of the franchise. Newcomers, however, will probably have to force their way through a significant part of the experience to feel the same joy. There is a solid monster-slaying action-RPG buried under here; it's just a matter of how deep you're willing to dig to uncover its treasures.

Despite the lack of challenge and somewhat underwhelming story, I still found myself thoroughly enjoying the fast paced combat, and as I continued to experiment with different weapon types and skill loadouts losing countless hours, I knew the niche that God Eater has carved out for itself is most certainly well deserved.

God Eater 3 is an enjoyable action RPG that offers both a solid solo and co-op experience, but it doesn't really stand out from the rest of the pack.
