    visual of this game is very gorgeous, especailly the opening cinematic. as far as i'm concerned, the philosophy behind this game is also deep, the struggle of 仁 is justified.

    Visually this is one of the most gorgeous games out there, and the combat is really fun. When you beat a boss you really feel awesome. The gameplay, however, is extremely one-note.

    I think this is because unlike other open world RPG's like Horizon, Skyrim, and even God of War, in Ghosts of Tsushima you fight the entire game with the same weapon. And the only "stats" you can progress are    Visually this is one of the most gorgeous games out there, and the combat is really fun. When you beat a boss you really feel awesome. The gameplay, however, is extremely one-note.

    I think this is because unlike other open world RPG's like Horizon, Skyrim, and even God of War, in Ghosts of Tsushima you fight the entire game with the same weapon. And the only "stats" you can progress are really just health, melee damage, and amount of damage taken by an enemy. And this is mostly based on which armor you're wearing. I didn't find much use for most of the different armor sets you unlock, since again--there isn't a lot of variety of stats for them to affect. And the gameplay is pretty basic, so it doesn't impact the gameplay all that much either. I upgraded the default armor all the way and used that a majority of the time.

    The game has a few extra things to help you in battle, like wind chimes, firecrackers, bombs, etc. But you can only carry about 3 of each, so it's not really game changing to have them. I honestly didn't even use them much aside from the final boss fight because I was desperate to fight off the waves of enemies. I was making due just fine with the basic stealth kills since the enemies were spaced out a lot most of the time.

    The missions are extremely monotonous. I never felt like I was doing a whole lot, despite the long cut scenes that you can't skip, of characters telling you how important these missions are to them. And the game itself wasn't very long. You can do the main story missions and finish it pretty quick.

    Then finally, the main story is pretty basic and kinda stupid. Your uncle is mad that you're saving everybody just because it isn't the samurai way. It's annoying to hear him complain so much about it while you're out here saving lives.

    A fairly underwhelming game. I hope the sequel has more of a variety of things so that it feels like you're actually progressing. Made me wanna play something better once it was over, TBH.    … Expand

Game that they have tried to copy in this sense with very little success. Only except for the technical section and history. For that reason alone, he finished it for me, and with great difficulty.     Graficznie gra jest zrobiona bardzo fajnie, fabuła główna tez spoko, ale te misje poboczne to jakiś dramat. Odbijanie obozów zajętych przez mongołów, ciągła powtarzalność tylko inne lokacje, nuda... Nie wiem czym tak bardzo się ludzie zachwycają. Osobiście uważam, że ta gra to średniak,,,,

    Es un muy buen juego, con una ambientación impecable. Paisajes asombrosos que dan ganas de tomarte una foto en cada uno de ellos. El mapa es bastante extenso y hay misiones secundarias por doquier. La historia principal te mantiene al tanto en todo momento nunca te aburres.c

    My only explanation for the user score being 9.2 is that the majority of gamers love Japan because anime is from Japan, which makes them weebs (because let's be honest, every anime is weeb, except Castlevania that's not Japanese), which makes them unable to objectively see anything involving Japan which makes everything 10 out of 10 IGN.

    If those individuals were able to see things clearly, they would have no problem noticing all those major flaws which make the game look more like an indie title than what it actually is.

    A few examples:
    - One door opening animation that's repeated every single time you or any other NPC tries to enter any building with shoji entrance. (Now imagine following 2 NPCs into a building and seeing that 3 times in a row in 5 seconds)
    - Pathfinding that makes NPCs run in straight lines till they hit the edge of their path, so they could unrealistically turn 30 degrees and continue in another straight line.
    - Dull stealth gameplay which in combination with maybe even worse enemy AI that doesn't know how to behave after you break their line of sight results in one of the least enjoyable experiences I've ever had in any game that offered stealth.
    - repetitive side activities that make you constantly follow foxes, birds that get stuck in every single tree or rock (just like any other animal you encounter) that appears in their way, or the most annoying old fart ever created as a game character that howls the word THOMOEEEE every 2 sentences.
    - Interactivity with the open world that includes only following NPCs, clicking on prompts to investigate, sitting down to click on predefined sentences, taking your clothes off to bathe, and climbing up 1997 platformer-looking stumps on a rock.
    - No interesting or genuine characters except some of them during the duels that just look cool for a few seconds before you kill them, and after defeating 3 of them you quickly notice that there's not much variability in their moveset, so it becomes another routine activity.
    Other than that, next to the THOMOEEEE shouting passive-aggressive moralizing grandpa is a bloodthirsty lesbian running around in samurai armor (at least her storyline is not that bad), and another old fart preaching honor, disciprin, and toradishon also every 2 sentences for a change, not even speaking of the protagonist himself, whose personality is at best 1% of commander Shepard.

    I may have forgotten about a half of things that had some negative impact on my experience from the game, nonetheless, it's a boring stereotypical adventure that only looks nice and has some impressive combat mechanics (in case you play how the developers want you to, which I suggest, otherwise you'll break the game) that would've been pretty cool if a game called Sekiro hasn't already been released. However, not to only insult everything this game stands for, it's pretty funny at the beginning that it won't let you enter stealth, because you're a samurai, therefore you need to introduce yourself and your whole famiry to everyone you decide to attack.
    Also, to my disbelief, the game has one game-changer, and it's the wind mechanic that completely eradicates the necessity for any kind of HUD elements, which is something other games should learn from... But again, in those games at least you can find an epic quest in the corner of the map instead of a retarded banner to upgrade your saddle that nobody ever in the history of gaming cared about.

    Unfortunately, regarding new gameplay mechanics introduced after the intro, there is only a grappling hook. But it's not just any grappling hook - It's the least satisfying grappling hook out of hundreds of games that started implementing grappling hooks in their games 5 years ago, when it was cool. Not counting upgraded combat moves, it's all you encounter throughout its 30-hour campaign filled with repetitive missions to ultimately chase down and kill an Asian version of Steven Seagal in a way that the shogun doesn't like, so he bans you from writing haiku and drinking sake for the rest of your life, because that's what samurai did when nothing was happening.

    Considering the number of Japanese names in the final credits, which is close to 0, despite it just being not a good game, it's not even close to being authentic, and I'd gladly change it for a million Naughty Dog LGBTQ dramas in an instant.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the most repetitive games I have ever played. Every single quest is almost identical. Pick it up, run to a spot, fight a bunch of Mongols or Bandits or Straw Hats, turn in. There is a quest mid game with Yuriko that goes on for over an hour and doesn’t let you skip all of her awful dialogue, doesn’t let you run or gallop 90% of the time, and is just downright cringe the entire time. It is basically a one hour stay at an old folks’ home listening to a stranger and having no ability to go anywhere the entire time. It was literally the worst quest I’ve ever played in 30+ years of gaming.

    There are dozens of little places to clear and they are almost all copy/pastes. The first few are fun, but it gets old very quickly. The lock on without lock on is absolutely awful. You have no control over it but there is a lock on and you will regularly attack targets you do not intend to.

    Lastly the controls: awful and great. They nailed stances much better than Nioh. Sadly they completely boffed up the utility abilities. I think it is mostly just a limitation of the junk controller that Sony puts out. Maybe PS5 will be much more intuitive.

    Graphics are great. Story is so-so. The writers should have written out timelines for each character. Some of them have so many different “I was in this awful situation for years...” that they’d have to be twice as old as presented in game. They also tossed in a lot of immersion breaking SJW trash. Gay guy misses his dead lover that had a wife and kids. A main character has a lesbian relatIonship, is in her 60s, and fights better than almost all men in the game. 1/2 of the boss encounters that are not Mongols are females, in ancient Japan. Almost every town leader is a female as well. It just wreaks of Anita Sarkeesian’s opinions.

    I give it a 4. It is playable and has its fun moments, but it goes on twice as long as is tolerable with its very limited variety of quests and settings. The graphics are amazing for a PS4 but do not compare to what many PC games give you these days. Mostly the game is getting hype because people are bored to tears. Oh, and it is way too easy. The combat is never challenging even on hard.

With most of your time being spent walking, traveling or resource gathering to make sure the player spend plenty of time looking at the graphics.. The story us dry and none of the characters are even interesting let alone likable. Actualy Game play is spread thin and most of your time is spent holding the left stick foward a clicking to pick up something ocasionally.. Like all PS ecclusives it is heavily story based and the story was a generic , dull history lesson. Hated the character, which is a these with modern PS games.    … Expand

    I usually don’t write reviews, since other users usually already wrote the same thing dozens of times, therefore making it a waste of time. I will do an exception today, since it was the user score over here that pushed me into buying this game. I heavily regret this decision.

    I won’t go to much into story, since it’s a matter of taste. I don’t like it, my girlfriend hates it.     I won’t go to much into story, since it’s a matter of taste. I don’t like it, my girlfriend hates it. It’s flat, full of stereotypes and shallow up to the point of an infamous press f to pay respects moment (apparently it’s ok in this game). The premise is pretty much a rescue the princess theme, don’t expect too much.

    People claim this game has the best graphics. Again, aesthetics are up to taste. I think the general art direction is pretty, even though a bit empty at times. But that wouldn’t be much of a problem if the gameplay supported it. On a technological level this game doesn’t convince though. It starts with the lack of necessary HDR settings, which will lead to ridiculously oversaturated colors. Nice to demo your fancy HDR tv at home, but if you’re already past that phase, you’ll prefer something more authentic.
    The skinshading looks a bit dated, other than that the shading is ok, not bad, but definitely not best.
    The game completely falls apart in it’s animation quality though. Bugs aside, the facial animations are stiff, sometimes on the awkward side. Characters in the world don’t follow a day night cycle, which makes them feel more like placeholders in a bad mmorpg. This is also one of the main reasons why the game feels so dead compared to a Witcher 3 (a game from 2015). Also, animations lack polish, you will find characters just pretending to eat, tend wounds, .. you might know this problem from older mmorpgs on tight budgets.
    Cutscenes are very old school, teleporting you back to key locations whenever the script requires you somewhere else.

    Ok, so let’s get into the most interesting part: design. The game pretty much throws you right into all the upgrade options right from the very start, without much onboarding. 1/50 Mongolian Artefakts, 20 supplies, technique points, stances, charms, ... you learn about all of this stuff before you even remotely care about it.
    Fine, I don’t like handholding you might think. Unfortunately that’s pretty much the only part without it.
    I played on hard: every spot within a huge radius around you is automatically marked on the mini map for you, so that exploration is pretty much obsolete. Set the destination, and the wind will guide you there. Too lazy for that? Don’t worry, the game will conveniently place birds and other hints to guide you to those spots, in case you couldn't care less. Too lazy for that? Don’t worry, there is items that make your controller vibrate if you get closer to other items. The game literally pushes you into skipping all the world rushing from one spot to the next one. It’s a mindless experience. Got some materials? The game will tell you what to upgrade, when and where, just use fast travel, no thinking required.
    Missions are scripted with 0% deviation in mind. I invaded a village, killing everyone inside. 10 seconds later I triggered a mission right next to it, which spawned the whole village again, making them plop in right within the cutscene. Climbing segments are heavily linear and remind more of an adventure game, rather than an open world game.
    The game is very pretentious about concepts of Japanese culture like honor and hariaku, yet it’s ok to cut through one of the very few destructibles, the traditional shoji doors of another fellow japanese. There is many cases of such incoherency..
    The combat system is ok, it tends to be fun until you run into all the problems with the AI, which randomly gets stuck idling, or runs out of its very small Aggro radius, or is incapable of climbing a waist high object. There is numerous ways to exploit it unfortunately, partially due to the unbalanced skill tree. Stealth segments are extremely forgiving, up to the point where you can just run through and stab everyone occasionally. It’s not a bad combat system, but it definitely needs much more work.
    The game let’s you switch weather at any time, but also takes this privilege for itself. You might end up riding on a beach in the sunset, with a mission checkpoint triggering fog within a milisecond, without any actual ingame time passing in between. It completely breaks immersion.

    Finally the game is riddled with bugs. NPCs looking in random directions, walking into fire, items disappearing, I’ve seen it all in this game. All in all it’s beyond my understanding, how this game is 12th place in the all time user ratings. Tastes are different, and this game might indeed tick all the boxes for some people. I mean, I love Japanese culture myself. But I fail to see how 15k people think that this is it, a 9.3 out of 10 on average, a masterpiece, despite all of these issues, despite offering not much novelty    … Expand

    This game is a culmination of every open world game that I’ve played for the last 5 years. Almost all of the side content and undiscovered locations are completely useless, fox dens, haikus, and shrines. The side quests are really boring. The combat system is easy to master and doesn’t provide any real challenge.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why does every game nowadays have to attempt to cram every genre into it? I just want a good hack and slash. The open world formula and constant walking between undiscovered areas gets old too. The combat and stealth are great, but unskippable cutscenes kill replay value and make the game far longer than it really is; typical Sony. Not even that impressed with the story. The whole conflict over marching straight into the enemy while extremely outnumbered versus sneaking around is ****

    Other issues:
    **** finding clues and following footprints. I want proper UI **** clearly showing me where to go next.
    **** the weather and constantly working in dark, rain, etc. Realism isn't that important. Let us turn that **** off.
    **** platforming. Seriously. I'm here to be a samurai, not a goddamn acrobat/rock climber/whatever the **** Who keeps insisting on including that bull**** in every game? Getting to the shrines is just annoying.

    Bottom line: Unskippable cutscenes and lack of NG+ is ridiculous in 2020. The devs should be ashamed.    … Expand

    This game could be amazing but many nonesense dialogues, weak combat mechanics and a terrible camera make it look like a rushed product. To be honest you could overlook the first issues but the camera is really, really bad, worse than demon souls just to be clear :/ i really hope they do something about.

    The multiplayer is a neat idea but the missions are something you are gonna play once and you forget about them and horde mode (even at its highest difficulty settings) gets really boring. I didn't try raids but I think that they won't be as different as the other modes included there.

    I give here a 4/10 to counter the overwhelming unfair positive reviews this game got from the thousnad of weebs, in reality this game is a 5/10 or 6/10.    … Expand

    This game is not a 10 at all. Its an extremely average game. When I first started out playing I did see its potential that unfortunately got boring fast. I'm just glad I purchased it on disc because I ended up trading it in.

    Feel free to give it a go but much better games are available than this!

I think that after Act II this is the most boring story and gameplay wise, triple AAA game that I have ever played on this PS generation, I even moved the difficulty on hard, but with no result, this game is very very easy and also because of this becomes very boring. I know it had to be downgraded to make the game run better, but it's still no excuse for lack of dynamic foliage.

    The physics are a complete joke. When I shoot the enemies with the bow, they flip around horribly with bad animations. When I shoot an enemy off a bridge, there is no ragdoll physics present and they fall off like statues. When I put the horse in the edge of a bridge, it doesn't trip and fall like in RDR 2. Instead, the horse magically jumps in the air. These trash physics are so bad, it reminds me of the awful physics present in those low budget Farming Simulator clones. The AI is incredibly stupid. The horse mechanics are garbage. The player movement animation looks terrible.

    There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, this game will go back to the shelf and collect dust. Charging $60 for a game with no replay value is a cashgrab. I would have been fine with no multiplayer if this game had so much depth and content like Red Dead Redemption 2.     I am echoing the other viewers comparing this to Assassins Creed. It is true, it is very much spot on really. But i would only compare it to the very first AC game which was dull. The sequels was better than this.

    It is basically designed like this:
    A Main Story line
    Lots of side-missions.
    Even more content of rinse and repeat collectibles. Shrines, swords to collect, haiku poem writing, enemy camps to liberate and other nonsense. Does it sound familiar?

    It starts off promising. The game guides you effortlessly trough the game mechanics and off you go.
    The story is ok, but was rather boring by Act III.
    Level design is gorgeous with lovely colours and large flowerfields that pops out on your TV. All is blissfull trough act I to II. But when you hit Act 3 it gets rather depressing.
    The controls are decent. Very similar to AC series. Combat demands some good timing and you gain more moves and weapons as you go.

    It is a long game if you decide to do side quest and other chores on the side. By act III i was tired, i played less and less intervals. All the repetition wore me down. The enthusiasm faded out and the game became a chore. The missions on both main and optional struggles to keep it varied. Just the same go from A to B, Kill a bunch of enemies and speak to someone. (sigh!) The End. Gain Exp.. move on.

    Some technical negative sides:
    Combat works ok in open areas, but once you are in cramped spaces, it becomes hard to pay attention as the camera struggles to find a good viewpoint for you leaving you blind in the heat of the moment.
    Stealth i found wonky, as the enemies are positioned in either groups or they spot you too quick. It felt broken and you just did not bother doing it nice and quiet in the end unless the mission required you to remain unseen.

    Other than that, the game fails to bring a complete package to keep one exciting to the very end. It has all the classic trademark of open-world game failures. So far "only" Rockstar can do it proper. Maybe Watch Dogs 2 was ok as well, at least it kept the story varied.

    Other than that. It´s huge, pretty, but in the end, a dull outing. Being a Samurai game give it no excuses to slip away from a bad score.
    Ubisoft is probably mad now as they can´t make a Shogun based Assassins Creed. Oh well.    … Expand

    I don't think this game is a perfect score or a 9, the game has many bad things from the camera to the IA, its not perfect game its an OK game, SUCKER PUCNH CAN DO BETTER they're talented as hell I hope for the future

    Game plays a bit like LOTR Assassinscreed games. If you like the setting, you probably going to like it more and longer than i did but the mechanics are nothing new or unique.
    Visuals are above average, audio is fine. Models look very static at times but gameplay is overall good.

    We played those games many times.
    Third person action game with basic stealth in bushes.
    You cannot use uchigatana, spear, naginata or other samurai weapons.
    Story is boring.

    Maybe my problem was that I played this game right after Sekiro and Sekiro is much great than this one. But Ghost of Tsushima is, for me a very big mistake.

    Tsushima is very “meh”.... veeeery unpolished, mediocre graphics, bad character models, bad animations with missing keyframes, very bad sound design... unless    Admittedly, I’m only about four hours in. But the downsides of this game relate to basic gameplay mechanics, graphics, character models, sound design... which are, unfortunately, unlikely to change as my playthrough continues...

    It’s not horrible, but it’s nowhere near an AAA title. Character models suck, and I don’t think they used motion capture at all. At least that’s what it looks like. Sometimes there are a couple of moments where the world is nice... but in RDR2 and TLOU2 there was not a single point to critique, compared with this...

    Voice acting is also not very good.

    If you really want to see it, you can get it, and you’ll enjoy part of it. But again, it’s nowhere near TLOUII and RDR2. It seems more like a PS2/PS3 game.    … Expand

    4/10 Nothing special today. Same game like Jedi Fallen Order, new God of War, Resident Evil 3 debacle. Also TLOU2 horror show.
    All games are same game with different paint.
    Game never captured my attention and after boring two hours, is stopped playing since I've seen everything before. This game engine of last 15 years is death of games and creativity.
    Everything looks and feel same

    The best samurai game in a long time and a great fun for all, who love action. Love for Japan and its history is a big plus, but its knowledge is not necessary to enjoy every minute of this beautiful game. [Issue#305]

    Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

    Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
