Open world samurai simulator made right. It is as cool as it sounds and then some. It also has one of the best photo modes to date, I couldn’t stop taking pictures.

Pretty but a little repetitive. Souls and Nioh player, so the redundancy of the stances might not have hit other players as much as me.
But you can get through the whole game on Hard with Water stance, easily. Duals are amazing though, I would love a spin-off that is only duals

Fantastic game from start to finish. Rich in story telling and environmental design the game is almost without flaw that will leave you stunned many a time through it's lengthy campaign.

The story is a fresh tale that has many organic story telling elements that derive from Japanese legend. It is carefully weaved and sewn into the game with such finesse that even minor side missions will leave an impact on you. Upgrade system is well structured and is fitting when you max out your abilities, you earn the title of the Ghost. Voice acting is also superb, every emotional syllable is delivered with such raw emotion and tone that it's easily one of the standouts of the game. The side objectives and collectibles are done with such care, it didn't feel like the usual chore such as other monotonous games decide to include to pad the game time. SuckerPunch was the Developer that kept giving by providing a free Co-Op Multiplayer mode that required skill, communication and patience but resulted in much fun with a well executed game modes and concepts. The New Game+ feature that was also added was just the cherry on top.

The rare minor criticisms that I have of the game is that the text or other HUD icons would duplicate shadows around the vicinity of it's origin when sprinting making the gorgeous scenery somewhat tainted. Also, despite me praising the collectibles earlier I will note that there is too many and treads alone the line of becoming overwhelming. On the plus side not all collectibles need to be found in order to receive the coveted Platinum Trophy. The Hook mechanic seems to be very finicky and seems to be responsive only 3/4 of the time resulting in missed jumps to death. Also objectives in Legends are transparently convey, I had to resort multiple walkthrough to understand how to progress further in the chapters.

Overall, fantastic game with minor setbacks. One of the freshest single player open world games I've played in years.

Phenomenal. Jin sakai's story arc is so powerful and so well written , it is an absolute joy to play as the ghost. And the visuals just enhance the game ten fold.

    Brilliant game.

This is a fantastic game that I thoroughly enjoyed playing. The world is vast and yet doesn't feel empty, perhaps helped by the stunning aesthetic created. At first glance the focus of the story seems a little repetitive but in practice the story adds variety and a good amount of varied strands (though the prologue and Act 1 aren't the best - the story really gets going in Act 2). At first glance the focus of the story seems a little repetitive but in practice the story adds variety and a good amount of varied strands (though the prologue and Act 1 aren't the best - the story really gets going in Act 2). A key element that really need applause is the combat. This is no button mashing game, and the combat is intelligent and requires thought, especially as you progress through the game and unlock abilities and other elements. My only gripe (and it is small and in no way takes away from a fantastic game) is that some of the additional tasks in the game (finding pillars etc) sometimes felt like a tick box exercise but again that is so minor. As someone who felt utterly punished by Sekiro (I had to sell it after a few hours play), this game delivers everything I wanted from a historical RPG in that world. Expand

One of my favorites of this year, gorgeous to look at, surprisingly well-written story and fantastic combat. Good skills and gear to acquire, plenty of side quests and stories and a beautifully constructed map with plenty of biomes to explore.

Loved the game. The open world is beautiful!!! The star of the game. The story is good but not great. The fighting system is a lot of fun. The length of the game is very good. The soundtrack fits nicely into the world and gives a better feeling of the world and stories. A great game!

This game is good. Actually, there are no interesting and new gameplay mechanics but instead it uses all the already-developed mechanics and tricks perfectly to create a perfectly balanced game.

I can not fathom some of these critic reviews of this game, Its rating should atleast be 90. Majority of the time I'd trust the user review score over the critic ratings, except for a few rare occasions (The Last of Us 2) they better reflect how good the game is. Moving on to the actual game. I'll start with combat. It starts off pretty great as you learn and get used to the basic controls and to me is so cool. You genuinely feel finesse and satisfaction as you fight battle enemies breaking there gued and then as you finish them you will have an almost set animation where he trips the enemy up after stabbing them, oh slices there chest as you stay in the pose just to make it more baddass . You fight many enemies at a time at points and there is lots of variety. As you progress through the story or explore the world you will comes across different types of enemies who can make you want to take a different approach in killing them. You could shoot at range with a bow, fight head first or stealth kill them. When fighting multiple people you can very seamlessly switch between opponets to parey ther attacks as they attack you at once, parrying leaves the enemy open for a combo and if you get attacked mid combo you can parry the other opponent where you can either continue your combo agaisnt them or finish the original opponent Expand

Just finished this incredible game. I went the completionist route with all the side and legendary quests. I may have over-inundated myself with missions. Because I got maybe a little anxious for the game to end so I can start something new.

To put it frank - this game is GORGEOUS, riding your horse throughout the countryside is a treat all in itself, it's just gorgeous I can't

To put it frank - this game is GORGEOUS, riding your horse throughout the countryside is a treat all in itself, it's just gorgeous I can't reiterate that enough. I've never seen anything like it. In terms of open world, the formula stays the same as many others in the genre (think Days Gone vs RDR2).

The story is relatively straight forward. Drive the Mongols out. The side quests are more exciting and mysterious then the main story line. Jin Sakai is a pretty cool main character, but I found myself wanting more substance from him.

    CONS:
    - not enough unique equipment or armor options
    - main quest was very black and white. Kill bad guy, save land. I mean... okay all games are technically like that, but they fluff it up. GOT does not fluff it up.

Ghost of Tsushima is best at its visuals and a varied combat system that requires you to switch stances on the fly as well as utilise ghost weapons. Side quests are hit and miss. The best side quests are the character tales and mythic tales. There are also points of interests on the map and the best one by far are the duels with scattered around the map. The story is nothing to write home about as it is very predictable except for the stunning ending. The world suffers from a general Ubisoft type bloat with far too many types of the same activities that ruin many nice ideas such as Inari shrines. I also felt the compelling theme of being a samurai or a ghost to fall short badly. This is due to the fact that the story railroads you in this dynamic and it feels painfully on rails.

Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
